- 0:00Welcome to The Hypnotist, the show that gives you inside
- 0:03access to cutting edge hypnosis with real clients facing genuine
- 0:07issues. Brought to you by the
- 0:10hypnotherapist, demanded by celebrities, CEOs and even
- 0:14royalty. Adam Cox.
- 0:16These recordings took place live from Adam's clinic in London's
- 0:19world famous Harley Street. This podcast features powerful
- 0:23hypnosis, so do not listen while driving or operating machinery.
- 0:27This recording is not suitable for those with epilepsy or
- 0:30severe mental health issues, so get yourself comfortable and
- 0:34enjoy today's episode of The Hypnotist.
- 0:40Hi, it's. Adam here.
- 0:41And in this episode of The Hypnotist, you're going to be
- 0:44listening to a hypnosis session that was created for a client
- 0:48that had long term, let's say, chronic fatigue and feelings of
- 0:57the aftermath of just hyper vigilance and constantly being
- 1:02frazzled and stressed. And their work life wasn't
- 1:06helping. They'd made certain decisions to
- 1:09exit where they were working and find their own source of income
- 1:13by working for themself. Great choices.
- 1:16And I think it's really important to kind of when you're
- 1:18thinking about not feeling great in yourself, too many people
- 1:23just rush to the doctors, get some kind of prescription.
- 1:28But quite often how you feel is a symptom of what's happening in
- 1:32your world. So making changes in your life
- 1:37is sometimes just as as effective as finding the right
- 1:41kind of remedy. So this client was already doing
- 1:44that. They were already making really
- 1:45good choices, getting the ducks in a row, but they felt on edge
- 1:50all the time. And it was clear to me that
- 1:55their sympathetic nervous system, this fight or flight
- 1:59response was in high gear. And one of the things that can
- 2:04be helpful to kind of calm down the nervous system is 1, giving
- 2:12it this kind of feeling of release, but also breath work.
- 2:16And that's really what you're going to hear in this session is
- 2:19this idea that you're 7 breaths away from resetting your nervous
- 2:24system. But they can't just be normal
- 2:26breaths because then you wouldn't have this hyper
- 2:30vigilance to begin with. And if you create an image in
- 2:33your mind of someone having a panic attack, they're rapidly
- 2:36breathing from the chest and they're forgetting to breathe
- 2:39out. And that's almost necessary to
- 2:42have this kind of real sense of stress and anxiety and tension.
- 2:49These long outward breaths are really good for releasing
- 2:54emotions. There is a visual element here
- 2:58of imagining a candle off in the distance that you kind of aiming
- 3:01to blow out that candle with the outward breath.
- 3:04But that is just as a tool to get you focused on this idea of
- 3:08really having this kind of long exhale.
- 3:12Now, these long outward breaths then create a vacuum.
- 3:17And it's the vacuum not in the chest, but in the diaphragm.
- 3:20So when you try and focus on breathing in, you're kind of
- 3:23missing the point by focusing on the outward breath.
- 3:27Then the inward breath becomes a natural consequence of there
- 3:31being a vacuum in your lungs. So there's a few bits going on
- 3:36here. There's a couple of metaphors
- 3:37about this idea of control aloud delete, you know, resetting your
- 3:41nervous system like you're resetting a glitchy computer.
- 3:45But also there's this element of training at altitude that if you
- 3:50could imagine a situation where you were really triggered and
- 3:53really stressed and feel that you can handle that kind of
- 3:58situation, you can feel relaxed in that kind of situation.
- 4:02Then there's this idea, well, if you can feel calm there, then
- 4:06you can really feel calm when you're not in that stressful
- 4:09situation. So there's a few bits going on
- 4:11here, and I think it's quite good because I know that
- 4:14probably more than 6070% of the clients that I work with, even
- 4:18if they're not dealing with stress, they tend to be stressed
- 4:22because a lot of people live very stressful lives and their
- 4:25nervous system and their immune systems reflect that kind of
- 4:28stressful circumstances. So if you feel like it would be
- 4:33good to release stress and maybe you've made a resolution this
- 4:35year to release stress, you might find this one quite
- 4:39helpful. It's based on this idea of the
- 4:41physiological side, this letting go in the outward breath.
- 4:45Of course, it was created for a unique individual.
- 4:48Not all of the suggestions may relate to you.
- 4:51So if you do like the idea of working with me directly, click
- 4:54the link in the show notes. That will enable you to schedule
- 4:57a free 30 minute Zoom call with me.
- 4:59We'll have a chat and maybe I'm the right person to work with
- 5:01you. For now though, find a quiet,
- 5:03comfortable place where you won't be disturbed.
- 5:05Relax and enjoy the session. Take a deep breath in and as you
- 5:50exhale, just allow any feelings of tension around your neck and
- 5:55your shoulders to feel like it's being released and is leaving
- 6:02your body in the very next outward breath.
- 6:09As you breathe in, just imagine breathing in, healing, relaxing
- 6:15white light. Feel it going in through your
- 6:18nose into your lungs and just imagine your body is
- 6:24distributing that healing, relaxing white light to
- 6:29whichever parts of your body need it the most.
- 6:36Feel that wonderful feeling of ever increasing relaxation and
- 6:43allow anything you've been holding onto as you breathe out
- 6:49to feel it leaving your body. That may be tension,
- 6:55frustrations, nickling thoughts and worries.
- 7:02Feel it leaving your body like you're breathing out a flume of
- 7:08smoke. As you breathe in and breathe
- 7:14out. Notice that when you focus on
- 7:19the outward breath, you can just extend that outward breath.
- 7:29Find that rhythm and extend the outward breath and feel that
- 7:35with each outward breath it's carrying away the stresses of
- 7:42the day. I want you to use the power of
- 7:51your imagination to imagine now that you are in a safe, peaceful
- 7:59place. And maybe it's a place a place
- 8:06of vacation, like a beach, or maybe a place in nature like a
- 8:11forest. But imagine that place with soft
- 8:17sunlight, blue skies and sunshine, but not harsh hot sun,
- 8:26warm relaxing sun. So whether you're on a beach or
- 8:34in a forest, or just imagine you're in a cosy room, feel
- 8:40completely at ease. And sometimes your mind will
- 8:48switch. Different places in nature,
- 8:52different places for relaxation. But wherever you are, notice
- 8:59just how comfortable and supported you feel here.
- 9:07The air around you is calm and soothing, and every breath you
- 9:15take invites this healing relaxation into your body.
- 9:26Take another deep breath in, and on the exhale just imagine
- 9:31you're letting go of tension, stress, and perhaps something
- 9:37that no longer serves you. As you breathe in, you breathe
- 9:42in calm, strength and exactly the resources you need.
- 9:53There's no need to force or control the breath.
- 9:57Simply allow it to flow naturally, long and slow.
- 10:09But now focus on your outward breath.
- 10:15Just imagine it stretching longer and longer, as though the
- 10:23air itself is sweeping through your body, gathering up any
- 10:30tension or unwanted feelings and carrying them far away.
- 10:39Each exhale leaves you feeling lighter and more at ease.
- 10:53But after the exhale, there's a vacuum in your lungs, so just
- 11:01allow on the inward breath, that slow natural inhale.
- 11:09Feel that you're breathing in exactly what you need, perhaps
- 11:16peace, calm, maybe balance. Whatever is the antidote to
- 11:26feeling alert, on edge, hyper vigilant, just feel the opposite
- 11:33is what you're breathing in. And feel how this new energy
- 11:41nourishes you, just like a gentle wave washing over you,
- 11:49refreshing every part of your body and mind.
- 11:58Any emotions that arise now are simply passing through,
- 12:04temporary and fleeting, because you can observe them without
- 12:12judgement, letting them drift away on each outward breath.
- 12:25And perhaps you can imagine a candle 6 feet 2 metres in front,
- 12:37and as you breathe out, just imagine breathing out to either
- 12:43blow out or make the candle flicker.
- 12:49Maybe that outward breath feels like there's nothing left in
- 12:53your body, and yet you can still find more.
- 13:00And maybe as you practice this, it feels though you're training
- 13:06your body and mind to just let go, resetting your nervous
- 13:14system with every breath. I want you to get a sense that
- 13:23these breaths are like resetting your nervous system.
- 13:30But for now, picture yourself perhaps engaging in a relaxing
- 13:37activity. Maybe it's listening to a
- 13:44certain genre of music, or maybe a guided meditation.
- 13:52But what if this time becomes practice for your breathing?
- 14:00Practising those long, slow outward breaths followed by
- 14:06steady inward breaths, each one easing you deeper into
- 14:14relaxation as you breathe out. Before breathing in, hold it for
- 14:22a while, and when you breathe in completely, hold it for a while
- 14:28before you exhale. And before long you'll find that
- 14:34this kind of breathing becomes automatic.
- 14:38It comes naturally to you. It feels effortless.
- 14:45A gift you give to yourself, particularly when you imagine
- 14:51breathing out anything that isn't serving you.
- 14:55A heavy emotion, a thought, a feeling, anything that is
- 15:02bothering you. And you'll notice how each
- 15:07exhale then diffuses any lingering tension or stress,
- 15:17just like the vapour that you might see from a kettle
- 15:21dissolving into the air. Even in moments of stress or
- 15:28overwhelm you remember that you are always just 7 breaths away
- 15:39from calm because each time you take those 7 long outward
- 15:47breaths, you'll feel a shift within you, as though you are
- 15:55stepping into a more resourceful and composed version of
- 16:04yourself. Sometimes people hold on to
- 16:11stress like a pressure cooker, but if 7 breaths is the release
- 16:16valve, everything becomes more manageable.
- 16:21Stress becomes smaller and you find that you can let go of
- 16:27emotions linked to challenging memories or thoughts.
- 16:33With each exhale you release these emotions, and with each
- 16:39inhale you draw in resilience, strength, and calm.
- 16:58As you breathe in and breathe out, I want you to imagine now a
- 17:05moment, perhaps even a recent one, that felt stressful or
- 17:10overwhelming to begin with. See it as if it's from a
- 17:15distance, with a new sense of calm, like you're observing it,
- 17:24and you begin to breathe deeply and slowly.
- 17:28Notice that it's easier to process that memory as an
- 17:32observer and every outward breath, each exhale, releases
- 17:38the intensity of that moment. With every breath you feel
- 17:43calmer, stronger, and more composed.
- 17:49But then rewind it's step into that memory and feel you're back
- 17:53in the memory. Allow any emotions to feel them
- 17:58within you, but then exhale them in that long outward breath and
- 18:05feel calmer. I want you to get a sense that
- 18:10if you can feel calm in reliving a stressful moment, that it's
- 18:15like training at altitude. Because if you can stay calm and
- 18:21resourceful in stressful situations, imagine just how
- 18:26relaxed and in control you will feel in everyday life.
- 18:31Because you are building resilience, training your mind
- 18:38and body to diffuse triggers and remain calm no matter what comes
- 18:44your way. And the more you practice, the
- 18:49stronger this ability becomes. From now on, anytime you feel
- 19:02stressed, anxious or on edge, you will remember that you are
- 19:07just 7 long breaths away from feeling calmer and more
- 19:14resourceful. As you take those breaths,
- 19:20imagining that candle 2 metres in front, long outward breaths,
- 19:28you will feel the shift, a wave of relaxation washing over you,
- 19:35bringing clarity and balance. And as you continue to breathe
- 19:44deeply and calmly, take a moment to notice already how more
- 19:51refreshed and at ease you feel. You have everything you need to
- 19:59reset your nervous system like control, alt delete or a reboot.
- 20:07To reset your nervous system, to find calm in any situation and
- 20:14to handle life's challenges with a new found feeling of
- 20:18resilience. It's time to return to the
- 20:23present, realising that this has been a journey in your
- 20:29imagination. A journey of ideas within ideas,
- 20:34thoughts within thoughts, and dreams within dreams.
- 20:39But as we return back to the here and now, to reality, let's
- 20:45take those resilient, resourceful, wonderful feelings
- 20:49of relaxation with you. So take a deep breath in through
- 20:54your nose and out through your nose.
- 21:02Just wiggle your fingers and wiggle your toes as I now count
- 21:09from 1:00 to 10:00 to awaken you.
- 21:15Starting to count 123 waking up 456 more alert 7-8.
- 21:24Open your eyes. Open your eyes, 910.
- 21:28Wide awake, wide awake, wide awake.
