- 0:01Oh, God. Oh, my God. Right. Which one am I? Three.
- 0:23The usual. you right now the usual it's been
- 0:27six months yeah exactly come on i'm number one
- 0:30where i where i live in my home studio in your
- 0:34own heart yeah oh fuck no i'm like seven in my
- 0:37own heart well hey look at us we did it and now
- 0:42we're recording in person i'm not i'm not a fan
- 0:45of this in person yeah yeah it's lost its charm
- 0:49yeah it's hard to Don't subjugate yourself to
- 0:53the radiance that is my presence. I've missed
- 0:58you, too. As you should. I don't know. It's it's
- 1:04eight in the morning. I've only had one cup of
- 1:05coffee. So this is you're doing, though. Yeah.
- 1:09So welcome back to Cage Match. Cooling around
- 1:11about way of meeting Nicholas Cage, which hasn't
- 1:13worked. And at this point, probably won't. Yeah.
- 1:18I'm your host, Sean, here with my co -host, Nick.
- 1:21And our producer. Peter, hello. And Rosie and
- 1:24Ben are with us in the studio today because I
- 1:26drove up from Portland and I could not find a
- 1:29dog sitter. So yeah, if you hear the clickety
- 1:31clack click clacks, that's Rosie. And if you
- 1:33hear a clippy clop clip clop, that's a judge.
- 1:38Speaking of judging, that's what we do on this
- 1:40podcast. We started with 64 Nicolas Cage films
- 1:43and we're down to the final two. That's math.
- 1:50Is that math? Eventually. Wait, we've been doing
- 1:53math this whole time? Yeah, it's a trick. Sean,
- 1:56this has actually been one big long con to get
- 1:58you that GED. We're going to get you there, buddy.
- 2:04Congratulations, you did it. Next podcast is
- 2:07going to be reading comprehension. I wouldn't
- 2:10hold a breath on that one. Well, yeah, you guys
- 2:14want to talk about what we actually did for the
- 2:15finale? I mean, most of the people who listen
- 2:17probably already know. Yeah, you were there.
- 2:20There are other people who listen to this show
- 2:22who we don't know. Yeah. Which is shocking. Weird.
- 2:25And thank you for listening, whoever you are.
- 2:27Also, thank you for those who have just jumped
- 2:30on. Yeah. Stuart. Yeah. Thanks, Stuart. You'll
- 2:34have you have three years of episodes to catch
- 2:36up on. Then you can listen to this episode. So
- 2:39you can't listen to it, Stuart. Yeah. So we were
- 2:44able to gather and. put on a double feature of
- 2:49our final two selection at a local movie theater
- 2:53a little little uh i don't know if they're an
- 2:55art house they're a hole in the wall yeah it
- 2:58used to be like a yoga studio and then they took
- 3:00it over and they run yeah like predominantly
- 3:02art house movies but i was talking to cameron
- 3:05patron cameron and he was saying that the last
- 3:07time he had been at beacon they were doing like
- 3:08a kaiju week or something like that or a month
- 3:11even i don't remember he was like yeah i'm gonna
- 3:13watch as many godzillas as i can this is gonna
- 3:15be amazing It's incredible because they do zero,
- 3:19so far as I can tell, marketing about what they're
- 3:22showing when and where. Yeah, you just have to
- 3:23be in the know. You have to just pop in. I was
- 3:26getting coffee at my old local shop yesterday,
- 3:30and they asked me why I was in town. I'm like,
- 3:32oh, we're finishing up a cage match. We rented
- 3:34out the Beacon, doing a Nick Cage double feature,
- 3:37and a woman who was just having coffee in the
- 3:39shop was like... i did not see this i just checked
- 3:41their calendar when when could i have bought
- 3:43tickets yeah i guess when you rent the beacon
- 3:46they don't put anything on there i wonder if
- 3:47we had said so if they would have popped it on
- 3:49their site or something yeah this is open if
- 3:52you did want people to buy tickets yeah so yeah
- 3:54next time we have a two cage movie finale we
- 3:58can do that in three and a half more years we're
- 4:01starting from the top yeah this time we're gonna
- 4:05fight to find the worst nicholas cage only the
- 4:08stinkers and the ones where he's in it for less
- 4:10than a minute what do we need we need 14 more
- 4:12movies to have another bracket yeah something
- 4:14like that we're not doing that but it was really
- 4:20nice to get everybody together and see everybody
- 4:23and meet the the folks that i've never met before
- 4:26like cameron and yeah that was cameron was the
- 4:30one that cameron is the one that you got into
- 4:31the show yeah you spoke to them That's your fault.
- 4:35Yeah, that's what I was going to say. Outside
- 4:37the bird. Yeah, I believe it was the hummingbird
- 4:39situation. Yeah. It's a really cool experience.
- 4:42I think more people should take advantage of
- 4:44that if you're in the South Seattle area. Or
- 4:47even, you know, beyond that, like people who
- 4:49don't live in this area and have wanted to do
- 4:51something like that. Most movie theaters have
- 4:53the option of renting for like not that much
- 4:56money if it's at weird hours. Yeah. So. Look
- 4:59into it. Shout out to The Beacon. Thank you.
- 5:01Even though I don't know any of their listens
- 5:03to us. Probably not, but who cares? Yeah. Shout
- 5:06out to them either way. It's a great place. Tell
- 5:08them Cage Match sent you. Yeah, right. You'll
- 5:10get a discount. No, you won't. You won't. But
- 5:14yeah, what do you guys think about the actual
- 5:15experience of watching with people versus like
- 5:17most of how we've watched these movies is either
- 5:19solo with. the three of us or like you guys had
- 5:23the one experience of wild at heart in the theater
- 5:26right yeah well wild at heart and uh moonstruck
- 5:28that's right yeah i thought it was great it was
- 5:32uh it was interesting to me watching pig with
- 5:35a group especially a group uh including so many
- 5:39people who hadn't seen it before the the humor
- 5:42came back out and it was I actually was sitting
- 5:45there and I was like, oh, maybe this is how Meredith
- 5:48ended up thinking that this was a comedy. And
- 5:51then I was like, no, it's still not a comedy
- 5:53and they're still wrong. It's a dark comedy.
- 5:55I did have the same thought, though. I was like,
- 5:56there was more laughter in moments that I didn't
- 5:58really think or that would have only kind of
- 5:59like elicited like a little bit of a tweak of
- 6:02the smile or a little from me originally that
- 6:04it was like, oh, that is kind of funny. That's
- 6:06funnier than I thought. Yeah. Well, we've seen
- 6:07it so many times. Well, that was going to be
- 6:09my experience with this is because, I mean, I'm
- 6:13not. I'm not a fan of being around that many
- 6:14people. Not many people are a fan of being around
- 6:17you. I'm fine. That's my whole that's my gimmick.
- 6:21That's my shtick. That's just acceptance. That's
- 6:25accepting that you're not meant for public consumption.
- 6:28That's fine. That's why I do this from a bunker.
- 6:33Getting to engage with these movies again in
- 6:36a way where there are no distractions. There's
- 6:39nothing else to like. pull me out of the moment
- 6:41i don't have access to my phone i don't have
- 6:44anything to like i don't have the dogs i can
- 6:46just like sit i'm just sitting there taking the
- 6:48movies i took so much more from both of these
- 6:51films that i just watched like less than two
- 6:53weeks ago it was kind of like a first watch again
- 6:55just because i was so engaged with both of them
- 6:57yeah it was a really interesting scene like what
- 7:01does and doesn't get picked up on yeah especially
- 7:04with the raising arizona like re -watching comedies
- 7:07is always kind of tricky because yeah comedy
- 7:10relies so much on like the unexpected and that
- 7:12fresh that fresh watch that watching it again
- 7:15in that space i'm like i already knew it was
- 7:17great i'm like this movie's so much better than
- 7:19i like i remembered it being yeah yeah the rest
- 7:21of the audience reminds you that everything that
- 7:23you know is coming is still funny yeah yeah exactly
- 7:26yeah all the john goodman freak out in the car
- 7:29stuff that's what it's just like rolling i just
- 7:31love just the articulation of people's faces
- 7:34and just the way just words are pronounced the
- 7:38car ride went after the botched mugging after
- 7:43the big chase and she's just losing her shit.
- 7:47You son of a bitch. For me, it really was about
- 7:52that communal aspect. It just felt more fun or
- 7:56interesting. And like I've most of these movies
- 7:59I've watched on my fucking computer at one and
- 8:01a half speed. Sometimes. I mean, sometimes I
- 8:04was watching these movies at normal speed. traumatizing
- 8:07it's so slow never get that much of my life a
- 8:1290 and a 94 minute movie god damn no it's it's
- 8:17really interesting i mean i think that there
- 8:19is really something to be said about like having
- 8:21great audio and having a big screen you know
- 8:23and the properly dimmed room and all that kind
- 8:26of stuff it's like that does make those in particular
- 8:28pig for me it made that much more powerful in
- 8:31a lot of ways yeah because that is a movie that
- 8:33is you know all about the environment and the
- 8:36scene and setting the light. And, you know, like
- 8:39Raising Arizona is basically blown out lighting
- 8:42all the time because it's supposed to be. Ever
- 8:44talked about the cinematography for Pig? Like
- 8:46who that cinematographer was? Probably. One of
- 8:51the things I wanted to touch on is like our experience
- 8:54in doing this project has changed so much. So
- 8:57like back in the beginning, like we did talk
- 8:59about that and we talked about that as well as
- 9:02we could for three doofuses. Yeah. We're still
- 9:05three doofuses. Yeah. Yeah. But, you know, we've
- 9:09changed a little bit of the tone of how we do
- 9:10it. You know, now instead we would talk about
- 9:12how salsa on your face looks a lot like getting
- 9:16beat up. Yeah. It's very convincing. I believe
- 9:19it. I mean, I'm always taken aback by how beautiful
- 9:24that film is shot. And just, yeah, seeing it
- 9:26on a bigger screen in a theater just really made
- 9:31me appreciate those little things so much more.
- 9:33Just the shots from like outside windows, just
- 9:36the framing devices. It's such a beautiful film.
- 9:40I think the theater experience helped me appreciate
- 9:43the audio design for Pig a lot more because so
- 9:46much of it is reliant on like silence and whatnot,
- 9:49which was great. Although one of the best. one
- 9:52of the best lines in the movie got laughed over
- 9:53i know but i mean so i mean the setup for it
- 9:57is still it was funny people who have not heard
- 9:59the movie or seen the movie before it's like
- 10:01of course you would laugh at that but yeah you
- 10:02missed the nick cage fuck seattle line yeah i
- 10:05told bill about that over dinner he's like oh
- 10:06he's like i live there i'm like yeah i like that
- 10:11place yeah uh although every time i go to uh
- 10:15the thunderbirds game they do a little hype up
- 10:19thingy when things are going well and they play
- 10:21that song. That's like, but when they get to
- 10:26the like, regardless of who they're playing,
- 10:30it's always Portland sucks. Portland sucks. Like
- 10:35they were playing Vancouver, Canada one day.
- 10:37It's just like, I love it. Everybody, all fans.
- 10:41Vancouver, Seattle, Portland sucks. Portland
- 10:44sucks. That's amazing. That is amazing. I love
- 10:47that. It's one of the best things about going
- 10:48to T -Birds games. One of the things that I was
- 10:51talking to Ira, patron Ira, who came not to the
- 10:55movie itself, but came afterwards to hang out,
- 10:58which is great. Yeah, he was helping somebody,
- 11:00his in -laws move. Yeah. So he can make it. He's
- 11:03a good guy. Yeah. But he was talking about how
- 11:06speaking of sound design in Raising Arizona,
- 11:08like the yodeling stuff has always been like
- 11:10a little just like, OK, this is crazy, you know,
- 11:12but he was talking about how it got him really
- 11:14into like a certain genre of music. And it was
- 11:17that movie that did it. So watching that movie
- 11:20yesterday in the theater, it really did matter
- 11:22more like that music made more impact for me
- 11:25than it has ever had in the past. Also, at one
- 11:28and a half speed, it sounds really fucked up.
- 11:31You're only into fast yodeling. Yeah, speed yodeling.
- 11:35All this slow yodeling. Slow yodeling sounds
- 11:38like a sex move. Slow yodeling? I don't like
- 11:41that at all. Yeah, slow yodeling does sound like
- 11:42a bad sex move. It sounds like something John
- 11:45would be good at for some reason. I don't know
- 11:47why. Because it involves a hat. Yeah, exactly.
- 11:52Silly hat with a little feather. Drop down in
- 11:56the comments and let me know what you think slow
- 11:57to lean includes. And we'll try to put up a video
- 12:00on our Pornhub account. We're getting there.
- 12:03It'd be great if this were the one video that
- 12:05got like. Got a bunch of engagement. Yeah, right.
- 12:07Finally. Finally. This is the one that gets us
- 12:12discovered only for them. They have like three
- 12:15more non -episodes and then we're gone forever.
- 12:18This is when Peter discovers the little tab for
- 12:21like, oh, click here to allow comments. Oh, OK.
- 12:24Let's do this. Oh, shit. i should have produced
- 12:27better uh i do want to talk about that for a
- 12:31second uh fucking great job putting this together
- 12:34peter oh i thought you were talking about the
- 12:35comments it's like yeah let's let's discuss our
- 12:37comments let me bring up all three of them yeah
- 12:41one of which was very nice yeah no that's fine
- 12:44that guy sucks uh but no peter put together a
- 12:48great show uh put together i had no idea what
- 12:51the in memoriam you were telling us was peter's
- 12:53like yeah we're gonna have a little in memoriam
- 12:55section i'm like did somebody fucking didn't
- 12:56it cage die like i know i don't watch the news
- 12:59but i think someone would have told me about
- 13:01that probably probably um but no it was a little
- 13:06clips from a bunch of the movies that didn't
- 13:08make it most of which were contenders at one
- 13:11point most and a good chunk that weren't yeah
- 13:14like ghostwriter one jujitsu jujitsu adaptation
- 13:18never a contender it was never a contender adaptation
- 13:22a great film though i still think we need to
- 13:26do uh an adaptation primal episode just for just
- 13:30for fun i'm kind of into that idea yeah i would
- 13:32do it Yeah, I mean, I feel like both of those
- 13:34movies deserve a rewatching by me. I said I would
- 13:37rewatch Primal. At normal speed? At normal speed.
- 13:39I'll do it like a regular person. I said I would
- 13:41rewatch Primal. Yeah. Yeah, so stay tuned for
- 13:44that. The adaptation Primal is going to be a
- 13:47real doozy when we kick adaptation again. That's
- 13:49the episode that stops Nick and I from being
- 13:52friends. Impossible. We'd have to be friends
- 13:56in the first place. Boom. Ooh, snap. Yeah, I
- 13:59got there before you. You got smoked. it's loaded
- 14:02so got me good oh man yeah no it's fun i feel
- 14:12very bittersweet about this entire experience
- 14:13right now it's like i put a lot of work and enjoyment
- 14:17and annoyance into this you know it's like it's
- 14:21been really cool seeing the the turnout and people
- 14:23actually caring and all that kind of stuff so
- 14:25it's like bittersweet is the only word i really
- 14:28think of I will say this process of making this
- 14:31podcast with the two of you is. I've never seen
- 14:34Peter. I've never seen you more elated. Happy.
- 14:39Those are the same word. Just the cackling from.
- 14:42Oh, yeah. Next, but also just the most mad I've
- 14:45ever seen you just trying to rein us two idiots
- 14:48in. I know. I wish I had the raw audio from the
- 14:51what was it? Ghostwriter and. oh my god with
- 14:56this this one why are you fucking jerking off
- 14:59at me uh that one i think we were recording in
- 15:04summertime too it was like hot in your old apartment
- 15:06they were they were juggling bowling balls upstairs
- 15:09yeah everything just was like we kept having
- 15:11to stop so i kept drinking yeah the green place
- 15:13was just the worst between like the person watching
- 15:16tv next door Bridge we had to unplug in order
- 15:21to record because it was too loud. Those are
- 15:23the good old days. The bad equipment that we
- 15:26had to start with. The super squeaky benches.
- 15:29Yep. Hayden just sometimes coming home. Yeah.
- 15:33And then having to be like, Hayden, go sit in
- 15:36your room quietly. Make no noise. Yeah, we've
- 15:40got the living room today. And then bad episodes
- 15:43don't always get recorded from Hayden's room.
- 15:45That's right. He was a perfect storm of shit
- 15:48for that episode. I love how his furniture included
- 15:50his bed. Expensive computer chair, but no desk.
- 15:55Yeah. Or computer. Or computer. So you know what
- 15:59that chair was for. Cucking. Expensive computer
- 16:06cuck chair. but yeah it's been interesting the
- 16:10process you know we've jumped around to lots
- 16:11of different locations you've moved away like
- 16:13having to deal with different technology challenges
- 16:15all sorts of shit it's like it's been it's been
- 16:18a lot to learn but it's been really i would i
- 16:20would say rewarding for the most part yeah yeah
- 16:23cut down the setup time for remote people to
- 16:26a pretty reasonable yeah three or four mistakes
- 16:30i mostly remember the process now uh yeah having
- 16:35not had to thought think about that aspect of
- 16:38it for a while just staring over a pool of wires
- 16:41be like what goes where yeah exactly i know these
- 16:44go in things and we never just thought to write
- 16:46it down nope that would have been the coward's
- 16:49way yeah let's do uh before we actually get into
- 16:52voting on these two movies let's do just sort
- 16:54of a retrospective like what's like something
- 16:57really fun, stupid, memorable, anything that
- 17:01you've had in this process that you maybe just
- 17:03want to speak on. I've enjoyed, especially in
- 17:07the early days, like listening to the sheen of
- 17:10like, we made a thing still like going on and
- 17:13not having listeners yet. So like our numbers
- 17:16were us. Yeah. I mean, kind of. Yeah. But just
- 17:19like listening to like. and again i was drinking
- 17:22at this point still i mean i don't fucking remember
- 17:24the shit i say on this no matter what but there
- 17:26were definitely times where like i'd be listening
- 17:27to an episode of ours and i would listen to it
- 17:31i'm like i should have said this that would have
- 17:33been funny and then five seconds later passion
- 17:35went polydickle my god it yes so just appreciating
- 17:41just being able to appreciate me yeah oh pass
- 17:46me our dumbassery and our friendship in like
- 17:49a tangible way where i'm like now we like i can
- 17:52go back and listen to peter lose his shit over
- 17:54fucking next whenever i want and it's such a
- 17:56nice memory to actually have captured yeah i
- 18:01think that's a good that's a good way to think
- 18:02about it i mean for me i think a piece of it
- 18:04is that sort of archival aspect like even though
- 18:07my computer got stolen that one time and i lost
- 18:08a bunch of shit that i've done like all the art
- 18:10still exists that's going to exist in some sort
- 18:13of internet archive probably forever until the
- 18:15internet archives meltdown into the ocean there
- 18:19is a small but a very real possibility that this
- 18:22could end up someday in the library of congress
- 18:24fuck yes i am really excited for when my brain
- 18:29inevitably goes and i'm like fucking just in
- 18:32a shitty retirement home like just babbling to
- 18:35myself listening to episodes of us talking yeah
- 18:37and me just talking back that'll be uncomfortable
- 18:41for everyone it'll be really weird when you actually
- 18:43sync it up exactly and you start just knowing
- 18:45all the words yeah and you've got stand -in old
- 18:50people to sit down and pretend to be me and peter
- 18:53and then you just say the lines at them and then
- 18:55they just drool yeah yeah perfect love it just
- 18:58like us yeah Yeah, what about you, Nick? You
- 19:04know, I really appreciate that this podcast has
- 19:06ignited a love of Nicolas Cage films in me because
- 19:11this was something like, I don't know, when we
- 19:13first started this out, I had maybe seen seven
- 19:17Nicolas Cage films total. Yeah, I was pretty
- 19:20similar. I think I had seen Raising Arizona,
- 19:23Con Air, Face Off, The Rock. guarding Tess of
- 19:28all things and then maybe one more and I couldn't
- 19:31even tell you what it would have been yeah Amos
- 19:34and Andrew yeah I mean there's something I mean
- 19:37because yeah when I pitched this idea as mostly
- 19:44just like this would be a funny bit I yeah I'd
- 19:45seen maybe like five or six Nick Cage movies
- 19:48my understanding of Nick Cage was just the jokes
- 19:52of like you know He's a bad actor in good movies.
- 19:55Like, is he secretly a genius? Like, Nick Cage
- 19:57is bad. And we've watched most of his films now,
- 20:00and he leaves it all on the table. Out of most
- 20:03of the movies I've seen, I can think of maybe
- 20:04two movies where I don't think he fucking cared
- 20:06at all. I think in most cases, he's trying something,
- 20:10and he's putting something in there. I'm like,
- 20:12I can say I think he's a great actor in a world
- 20:17that doesn't appreciate him. It's the rest of
- 20:20our fault. my turn on that is just uh yeah he's
- 20:23a good actor who makes questionable judgment
- 20:25like in how he performs yeah i mean i think that
- 20:30at least he usually gives it his all yeah i mean
- 20:34there are a couple of those movies that you know
- 20:35the left behinds of it all where it's just like
- 20:38oh boy this is really just you needed some money
- 20:40yeah yeah but just doing this for the brother
- 20:43yeah then he got some of those where it seems
- 20:44like he was doing it for the money but also was
- 20:46like but wait they kind of need me i get to do
- 20:49weird shit now yeah which is great well like
- 20:52i'm what i've heard of gunslinger so far my assumption
- 20:55is and this is like the same with like jujitsu
- 20:59it's like he's there to get his name on a poster
- 21:01so they just bring him in they're just like do
- 21:04whatever you want we don't care you're literally
- 21:06we're paying for your name so those types of
- 21:10performances are the most fun for me yeah yeah
- 21:13i agree with that i you know not to get ahead
- 21:16of it but i'm looking forward to re -watching
- 21:19gunslingers before we record so i'm excited to
- 21:22watch it i will also watch it again i will definitely
- 21:25be less inebriated than i was the first time
- 21:29i watched it well so i think we can we can kind
- 21:32of move into the actual voting aspect of this
- 21:34now but i think one of the things that i'm really
- 21:35pleased with from this experiment because looking
- 21:37at it at first it was like great idea we'll watch
- 21:39all these movies and it'll you know whittle them
- 21:41down and then it was like oh my god fuck we watch
- 21:43these movies like a bunch yeah each of these
- 21:45movies that goes the distance gets watched six
- 21:48times in our timeline minimum yeah minimum yeah
- 21:51so and that's yeah not counting any of the re
- 21:53-watchings that you guys did any of the stuff
- 21:55like clip at you know cutting clips from stuff
- 21:57any of that you know it's like that's a lot yeah
- 22:00that's a lot but it did prove out in my mind
- 22:03the the theory that like these are the Best movies
- 22:07because you can watch them forever. Like you
- 22:11can just keep watching it. You know, a lot of
- 22:13people have said, oh, yeah, I've watched Raising
- 22:14Arizona like 50 times. Yeah. Yeah. So I think
- 22:18that we did kind of accidentally prove our point,
- 22:21you know? Yeah. Without science, you know, trying
- 22:25too hard. Yeah. Or well, too much. Yeah. Without
- 22:28the thought involved in science, we managed to
- 22:32science this out. Yeah. And that's good. Good
- 22:35for us. it's been a real a real thing like the
- 22:39the fatigue that you feel in some films uh wasn't
- 22:43necessarily present in the keys which is great
- 22:45yeah and i mean we just we just did the final
- 22:48four a week ago yeah a week and a half so i rewatch
- 22:51i like i'm re -watching these movies in the same
- 22:54month right within two weeks of each other i've
- 22:57like sat down and watched both these movies through
- 22:59and i'm like these still are great like i was
- 23:02enjoying every moment of these films neat i'm
- 23:06just gonna start speeding up that timeline just
- 23:08start watching pig and raising arizona every
- 23:11like other day and then every day and then always
- 23:14kind of like how i listen to how do i live yeah
- 23:19exactly i'm gonna get like special glasses that
- 23:22can project one movie on each lens. Will they
- 23:25be little crosses? Absolutely. And I'll start
- 23:29talking like this. I don't get this reference
- 23:32yet. Oh, you're going to love it though. So,
- 23:37you know, it's never really mattered for us when
- 23:39we've done the decision -making process, but
- 23:41we did have everyone in the audience vote using
- 23:44little bunnies that they had to put into a box.
- 23:47This is your moment people. Yeah. So what was
- 23:51the final tally? So the final tally for the people
- 23:54who voted and didn't steal the bunnies. Yeah,
- 23:57there were some abstentions. Which is fine. I
- 23:59respect their choice to steal. They voted for
- 24:02Conair. I respect that more. Was we had 19 votes
- 24:07for Raising Arizona and 20 votes for Pig. So
- 24:14it was wildly close. All those people who held
- 24:17out but really thought Raising Arizona was the
- 24:19better one. You lost the chance to make the majority.
- 24:23Yeah, for real. All it would have taken. Well,
- 24:26now, because I don't want to be told what to
- 24:28do, I feel like I should go for a zero. You got
- 24:33to do what your conscience tells you. Yeah. fuck
- 24:36it primal yeah primal primal primal all the way
- 24:40baby great white jag you need to cut the podcast
- 24:45right just dead air dead air patreon yeah no
- 24:51no outro nothing it's like done primal this one's
- 24:53for you stewart yeah uh michael and over the
- 24:57course of the next five years michael will finally
- 24:58listen to this podcast and get to the last episode
- 25:01it's kind of the equivalent of like It was all
- 25:05a dream. Yeah. Going into this, I was so sure
- 25:09that like Pig was like just a solid. It's Pig.
- 25:14It's got to be Pig. But again, getting that fresh
- 25:16watch of Raising Arizona in that space, like
- 25:19where I'm just locked in and I'm enjoying it.
- 25:21This movie is so great. It stood the test of
- 25:24time so well and it will continue to. And it
- 25:27is so approachable and perfect. And everyone's
- 25:31performance is outstanding. that just the whole
- 25:34time i'm watching i'm like it might be a reason
- 25:37yeah racing arizona also get elevated pretty
- 25:40hard just by being in the theater i think that's
- 25:43one that benefited a lot from the larger format
- 25:47whereas pig you can really interact with it almost
- 25:53to the same level in a home situation yeah i
- 25:56agree with that as uh the the cinema experience
- 26:01which was still terrific to see it in. I mean,
- 26:03like you said, and like you said with Pig, like
- 26:05those comedic moments stand out a lot more when
- 26:08you're in a room. So being able to enjoy that,
- 26:11enjoy a comedy with people like that was elevated
- 26:14Raising Arizona a lot more in my mind. Yeah.
- 26:19Well, why don't you go first, Sean? Tell me what
- 26:22you think and I'll take the opposite. Classic
- 26:27Cage match. I'll explain it poorly and just really
- 26:30get you angry. Super classic Cage match. I think
- 26:33of this entire experiment, the best thing I'm
- 26:38taking away from this is Pig. I love that movie.
- 26:40Huge respect for Nicolas Cage, giving that performance
- 26:45when he did in his career. And the fact that
- 26:48that movie, more than I think most of the stuff
- 26:50he's done in 20 years, really shows. those chops
- 26:53like he is that still that amazing character
- 26:55actor and when he is given the right material
- 26:57and a love for the material he just disappears
- 27:00into that role and he is the world's greatest
- 27:05actor because he can still do stuff like that
- 27:06raising arizona's classic raising arizona is
- 27:10damn near a perfect movie and i love it so much
- 27:13and getting that fresh watch i really sells me
- 27:17like that's that's his best film like for this
- 27:19like that's the most rewatchable film That's,
- 27:22well, like I said, Pig's my favorite film, but
- 27:25Raising Arizona is his best. I'm inclined to
- 27:29agree that Raising Arizona against every bone
- 27:34in my body. Wow, we really just have to commit
- 27:36to this video. No, I agree. Raising Arizona is
- 27:42like the epitome of a Nicolas Cage film. It's
- 27:47got just. big choice performance it's got a great
- 27:51character it's acted out phenomenally um great
- 27:56direction great script everything uh it's fucking
- 27:59nines all over the place is that what people
- 28:02say nines dimes fucking it's good skibbity toilet
- 28:06um and pig is a beautiful film with great sentiments
- 28:13and Terrific performance and will always be something
- 28:18that. I enjoy raising Arizona for sure. For me
- 28:23is the choice in this. It's like you said, it's
- 28:27a near perfect film. Yeah. Right on. I mean,
- 28:31I disagree with you guys, but whatever. We're
- 28:35solidly back into a position where your opinion
- 28:38doesn't matter. I know it's great. So I love
- 28:40not having the pressure of this. We're going
- 28:42to go with the minority vote. No, I think from
- 28:45the beginning for me, Pig was always my favorite.
- 28:47It shouldn't have been a surprise because it's
- 28:50rated well. Everybody loves that movie when they
- 28:51see it. It really did surprise me how much I
- 28:54like it and how much I still want to rewatch
- 28:56it. But I totally am fine with Raising Arizona.
- 29:00I think it's a great movie. I enjoyed it every
- 29:02single time I've watched it more. So, you know,
- 29:05each experience has grown for me, even though
- 29:08I still would prefer Pig to be the winner. But
- 29:10yeah, Raising Arizona, great movie. Yeah, I'm
- 29:12going to just... the nick cage of it all when
- 29:16you think of nick cage when you think of those
- 29:18performances that really have made him the name
- 29:20he is hi mcdonough is definitely up there and
- 29:24just it's so good yeah yeah the nick cage of
- 29:30it all yeah you know the whole reason we started
- 29:33this yeah exactly all right fuck yeah raising
- 29:38arizona Good work, Coen brothers from 1987. Right?
- 29:41Yeah. You stumbled into something nice. Yeah.

- 32:44You're going in the bathroom. You can whine,
- 32:46but don't bark. No barking. Yeah, how many dogs
- 32:53got bit at Pete's house? Fucking... Benjamin
- 32:59Franklin Gates and Ozzy just bite each other's
- 33:02faces. Yeah, that's what they do. Dog makeouts.

- 33:10that they do on other people's laps. Yeah, do
- 33:14that in private, you fucking pervs. Yeah. Ozzy
