- 0:08Speaker 1: we get started on She's on the Money podcast, I

- 0:18Speaker 1: acknowledging the elders, the ancestors and the next generation coming
- 0:22Speaker 1: through as this podcast is about connecting, empowering, knowledge sharing
- 0:27Speaker 1: and the storytelling of you to make a difference for
- 0:30Speaker 1: today and lasting impact for tomorrow.
- 0:33Speaker 2: Let's get into it.
- 0:34Speaker 3: She's on the Money. She's on the Money.
- 0:57Speaker 4: Hello, and welcome to She's on the Money the podcast
- 1:00Speaker 4: and millennials who want financial freedom. Today, my friends, it
- 1:04Speaker 4: is Friday again, which means it is time to get
- 1:06Speaker 4: our team together and celebrate you ow incredible.
- 1:09Speaker 2: She's on the Money community.
- 1:11Speaker 4: Today, we're gonna be sharing our favorite money wins or
- 1:13Speaker 4: Jesseic grit she is. I'm going to be sharing Bexbroke
- 1:17Speaker 4: tips because she is a way today and we'll be
- 1:19Speaker 4: helping to answer a juicy money dilemma, which this week
- 1:22Speaker 4: is all about job hopping and whether it's safe to
- 1:24Speaker 4: do so with the current job market, I feel like
- 1:27Speaker 4: you've got a lot to say about this, Jessica. We're
- 1:30Speaker 4: also going to be unpacking something that you slid into
- 1:32Speaker 4: our DMS about this week. We're debating whether it is
- 1:34Speaker 4: ethical to lie on your rental application to increase your
- 1:37Speaker 4: chances of securing a property, which I also think given
- 1:41Speaker 4: you worked in recruitment and then you worked in real estate,
- 1:43Speaker 4: You're gonna be spicy today, Miss Jessic Breech. We youuld
- 1:46Speaker 4: have got thoughts on everything? All right?
- 1:48Speaker 2: Well, tell me first thought of the week. How has
- 1:51Speaker 2: your week been? It's so good?
- 1:52Speaker 5: Guess what what.
- 1:53Speaker 3: We're in yours?
- 1:55Speaker 4: How is that not?
- 1:56Speaker 5: Right? This second? We're pre recording because I think because
- 1:58Speaker 5: we're not idiots when this dropped, so we will be
- 2:00Speaker 5: on a plane.
- 2:01Speaker 4: We're gonna been flying to New York while you're listening
- 2:04Speaker 4: to this so excited, I don't hold on hold on
- 2:06Speaker 4: the upgrade, Jessic Goricci.
- 2:09Speaker 5: Guys, we flew business.
- 2:11Speaker 4: We're flying business thanks to our friends at Virgin and Velocity.
- 2:16Speaker 4: They have helped us hack our points, so we have
- 2:19Speaker 4: flown business class the whole team.
- 2:22Speaker 5: We're like two weeks ago when I flew on my
- 2:23Speaker 5: first business class flight ever.
- 2:25Speaker 2: Now you're doing your first international business class. Who are you?
- 2:29Speaker 5: I am dying of excitement.
- 2:32Speaker 4: You are a woman with really hard expectations to meet
- 2:34Speaker 4: moving forward.
- 2:35Speaker 5: Oh my god, am I ever? I'm so palmmed. We're
- 2:37Speaker 5: gonna have the best time. It's gonna be like a
- 2:38Speaker 5: big bestie sleepover. We're gonna have so much fun.
- 2:42Speaker 4: We're obviously going to share it all on socials. So
- 2:44Speaker 4: if you're one of those people that voted no when
- 2:47Speaker 4: Jess said should we share more of our personal lives
- 2:49Speaker 4: on social media, not sorry, mute us for a.
- 2:52Speaker 2: Week, because we will be sharing a lot.
- 2:54Speaker 4: Of it and that's I think, really really fun. But yeah,
- 2:57Speaker 4: I feel like we've had a really busy week, apart
- 2:58Speaker 4: from the fact that flew to New York. Because I
- 3:01Speaker 4: swear all of us, even though this wasn't what we
- 3:03Speaker 4: tried to do, we've been trying to pack in like
- 3:06Speaker 4: a five day week into three days so that we
- 3:08Speaker 4: can get everything done because we flew out on Thursday
- 3:11Speaker 4: at lunchtime.
- 3:12Speaker 2: So I feel like that has been a lot.
- 3:14Speaker 5: It's been chaos, and you've had heaps of stuff from
- 3:17Speaker 5: your book and.
- 3:19Speaker 4: Just lots and lots of book pr lots of Like.
- 3:22Speaker 4: We did a really cool recording this week with AGL.
- 3:25Speaker 4: I did a whole video series with them, which I'm
- 3:27Speaker 4: really excited about, which is kind of like tips and
- 3:29Speaker 4: tricks on how to save money on energy, which I
- 3:32Speaker 4: think aligns perfectly to our community. And then yeah, there's
- 3:35Speaker 4: just been a lot this week. And I swear I
- 3:38Speaker 4: don't know it yet because we're not on the flight yet,
- 3:41Speaker 4: but I'm pretty sure that business class life flat seat
- 3:44Speaker 4: is going to get the biggest workout of its life.
- 3:45Speaker 5: I'm just going to sleep for all twenty two hours.
- 3:48Speaker 4: Yeah, Like, oh look at you, and we'll be like
- 3:49Speaker 4: we're sitting next to each other.
- 3:51Speaker 2: I muscle song.
- 3:52Speaker 5: Yeah. Literally, I was gonna say, I can't wait for
- 3:54Speaker 5: someone's gonna have a mustache drawn on their face or something.
- 3:57Speaker 5: I don't know what's gonna happen, but it's gonna be funny.
- 3:59Speaker 4: Oh I love it. I'm so so excited. All right, Well,
- 4:01Speaker 4: let's jump straight into it, Jess. I want to hear
- 4:04Speaker 4: what have been our community money wins this week.
- 4:07Speaker 5: My first money win this week comes from Sarah, who
- 4:10Speaker 5: said I found out Ikia off our spare parts for free.
- 4:14Speaker 5: I bought a second hand dining table for thirty dollars
- 4:16Speaker 5: which was missing a very important bolt, and I ordered
- 4:19Speaker 5: a replacement bolt free of charge thanks to Ikea. I
- 4:22Speaker 5: made a TikTok about this a while ago.
- 4:24Speaker 2: Maybe I didn't watch your Tiktokut's all right, that's fine
- 4:27Speaker 2: about that.
- 4:28Speaker 5: We love a supportive queen. What you watch and save
- 4:30Speaker 5: so many that you've probably just forgotten?
- 4:32Speaker 2: I actually just can I tell the truth on here?
- 4:35Speaker 5: Is that not? Okay?
- 4:36Speaker 4: Sometimes I don't watch your videos because like I don't
- 4:39Speaker 4: have time. Also, I've been with you twenty four seven,
- 4:41Speaker 4: so I like save them. I send them to the
- 4:44Speaker 4: sheese on the money account. I like them and I
- 4:46Speaker 4: comment on them even though I haven't watched them.
- 4:47Speaker 5: But we love a supportive question just like get that engagement.
- 4:51Speaker 5: I appreciate it. But it's such a good little hack.
- 4:54Speaker 5: You can do it on the website. I did the
- 4:55Speaker 5: same thing when I bought a couch. It was like
- 4:56Speaker 5: two pieces that were not connected and.
- 4:58Speaker 2: I had no idea.
- 4:59Speaker 5: They post stood out to you don't even have to
- 5:01Speaker 5: go pick it up. Oh gosh, that's actually a money win,
- 5:03Speaker 5: huge money win. Next I've got one from Sophie who
- 5:06Speaker 5: said I discovered that I could claim my psychology sessions
- 5:09Speaker 5: on my private health this week. I know private health
- 5:12Speaker 5: insurance is absolutely a privilege, but I'd be so lost
- 5:15Speaker 5: without it.
- 5:15Speaker 4: Obviously a privileged, yes, but for a lot of people,
- 5:18Speaker 4: especially if you see a regular psychologist or psychiatrist, or
- 5:22Speaker 4: even if you have regular physio appointments, it's honestly worth
- 5:26Speaker 4: sitting down doing the maths and working out if paying
- 5:29Speaker 4: a monthly private health fee is going to work out
- 5:32Speaker 4: for you. There's obviously lots of other features and benefits,
- 5:35Speaker 4: but I'm in the circumstance where it just makes sense
- 5:38Speaker 4: for me to have private health, Like I end up
- 5:39Speaker 4: saving so much money each year because of it. But
- 5:42Speaker 4: then I've also got friends that are like, I am
- 5:43Speaker 4: in fit and perfect health, Victoria, this is yeah. You know,
- 5:48Speaker 4: I'm in my like thirties now and I'm pregnant. So
- 5:52Speaker 4: I think it's just make your own decision.
- 5:54Speaker 2: But also it can actually be a bit of a
- 5:57Speaker 2: money win, especially if you're finding that your psych appointments
- 5:59Speaker 2: are really at it up or like something that's getting overwhelming,
- 6:02Speaker 2: and check your inclusions.
- 6:03Speaker 5: I just honestly would never have thought to look for
- 6:04Speaker 5: mental health stuff on my private health, which is dumb
- 6:07Speaker 5: of me.
- 6:07Speaker 2: No, it's not.
- 6:09Speaker 5: Thank you for the reminder, Sophie. Next, I've got a
- 6:11Speaker 5: money win from Brianna, who said I locked into my
- 6:14Speaker 5: shop back account and I found one hundred bucks cash
- 6:16Speaker 5: sitting in there from all purchases six months ago. Slay
- 6:19Speaker 5: love that big, very many. If you want ten dollars
- 6:21Speaker 5: the code SotM, we'll pop that straight in your shop.
- 6:23Speaker 2: Back account exactly genius.
- 6:25Speaker 5: Next, I've got a money win from me who said
- 6:27Speaker 5: I went to my local Bunnings. Turns out they've closed
- 6:30Speaker 5: and Kohala now uses the warehouse for their factory seconds.
- 6:33Speaker 5: I scored a four hundred and fifty dollars office chair
- 6:36Speaker 5: for one hundred dollars, basically brand new.
- 6:38Speaker 2: I have questions, Jessica about impulse spending. Did you go
- 6:41Speaker 2: to Bunnings to buy plants and then buy an office
- 6:43Speaker 2: chair instead?
- 6:43Speaker 5: I mean, it's irrelevant. It's a relevant question motion she
- 6:46Speaker 5: needed an office chair. It's relatable in which case, huge
- 6:49Speaker 5: money in in the other case, why were you looking
- 6:51Speaker 5: at Buttings?
- 6:53Speaker 2: True that.
- 6:55Speaker 5: Next, I've got a win from Stacy who said I
- 6:57Speaker 5: looked up that this Girl can events in my area.
- 7:00Speaker 5: I'll be doing a beginner's rowing lesson on Wednesday for
- 7:02Speaker 5: free and a self defense class next Monday for only
- 7:06Speaker 5: five dollars extra bonus. I found five dollars on the
- 7:09Speaker 5: ground yesterday, so I'm using that to pay for the
- 7:11Speaker 5: self defense class.
- 7:12Speaker 2: Cute. I love this very fun.
- 7:14Speaker 5: This Girl County is a great It was a little initiative, yeah,
- 7:17Speaker 5: which is really I think it's based around encouraging women
- 7:20Speaker 5: intellect sports and athletic type things. So and self defense
- 7:23Speaker 5: and self defense which I think jounting such a good one.
- 7:27Speaker 5: And then lucky last, I have a money win from Britt,
- 7:30Speaker 5: who said, not really a money win, but I closed
- 7:32Speaker 5: two of my buy now, pay later accounts by staying
- 7:35Speaker 5: on track with my budget and spending. I have been
- 7:37Speaker 5: super mindful of my moods and feelings, as I tend
- 7:40Speaker 5: to spend a lot when I am stressed, tired, or bored.
- 7:42Speaker 5: And Britt that is totally a money win. That's a
- 7:45Speaker 5: huge money I amazing. I love that We're so proud
- 7:48Speaker 5: of you. Is that all you've got, That's all I've got,
- 7:50Speaker 5: That's all you've got? All right?
- 7:51Speaker 4: Well, I'm going to channel my best back energy and
- 7:55Speaker 4: bb my bb yep, and I'm going.
- 7:57Speaker 2: To bring you some community broke tips.
- 8:00Speaker 5: Oh I'm excited.
- 8:01Speaker 2: I forgot to ask back for her broke tips. So
- 8:03Speaker 2: next time she's on the show, I'm going to make
- 8:05Speaker 2: her do too.
- 8:06Speaker 5: Love it.
- 8:06Speaker 4: So no pressure, all right, Jess. This first broke tip
- 8:09Speaker 4: it comes from Lee. They say last year, I wasn't
- 8:12Speaker 4: working full time and couldn't afford a gym membership, so
- 8:15Speaker 4: instead I did thirty day trials at all the different
- 8:18Speaker 4: gyms in my area.
- 8:20Speaker 2: A lot of them were free or really cheap.
- 8:22Speaker 4: I did it for twelve whole months, and I saved
- 8:24Speaker 4: a lot of money and did a lot of different
- 8:26Speaker 4: type of exercises that I didn't think I'd ever enjoy.
- 8:29Speaker 5: I actually highly rate her. That's so smart, totally ethical
- 8:34Speaker 5: because the trial the trial totally and she's right. There's
- 8:37Speaker 5: like so many different things that you can do. I
- 8:39Speaker 5: think about like even yoga classes. All my pilates place
- 8:41Speaker 5: they do like a really cheap like your first two
- 8:44Speaker 5: weeks is twenty dollars or something. She's so cheap.
- 8:47Speaker 4: Genies just trial that just tapes around. I think that's
- 8:50Speaker 4: so smart. At what point, Jess, do you think that
- 8:53Speaker 4: Lee could go back to a certain gym with a
- 8:55Speaker 4: different email address sign up.
- 8:56Speaker 5: I reckon like twelve months, I reckonize once every time
- 8:59Speaker 5: I reckon.
- 9:00Speaker 4: Nine months in you could then go and be like, oh,
- 9:02Speaker 4: I was thinking about this like star a sep months ago.
- 9:05Speaker 2: Now I'm just I'm gonna try and get.
- 9:07Speaker 4: Back until let me do the trial see what it's like,
- 9:09Speaker 4: because surely after nine months they haven't remembered your face.
- 9:12Speaker 5: That's theayou tease ho many people?
- 9:13Speaker 4: Yeah, yep, genius, I love that all right. So the
- 9:16Speaker 4: second broke tip we have this week is from Lindsay.
- 9:18Speaker 4: Lindsay says, I have started cleaning out my fridge every Sunday.
- 9:22Speaker 4: Rather than letting fresh produce rot I either cook it
- 9:25Speaker 4: up in a stir fry that night, genius, or just
- 9:28Speaker 4: I chop it up and I freeze it. I'll also
- 9:30Speaker 4: go through my cupboard and my freezer to see what
- 9:32Speaker 4: I have and plan my meals for the rest of
- 9:33Speaker 4: the week. You'll be surprised at how much you can
- 9:36Speaker 4: save on groceries when you make more of the food
- 9:38Speaker 4: you have and don't just let it go bad.
- 9:40Speaker 5: I love a frozen like anything like if your meat
- 9:45Speaker 5: expires in two days, step in the freezer. No it doesn't,
- 9:48Speaker 5: Like I think that is so smart. Chop up your
- 9:50Speaker 5: garlic or your veggies, can you put them in a
- 9:52Speaker 5: little soup and freeze the soup. I think it's so smart.
- 9:54Speaker 5: When I cook, I often double the recipes. So if
- 9:57Speaker 5: I'm making like a pasta sauce or something, I'll double it,
- 9:59Speaker 5: and later I feel like a genius because I have
- 10:02Speaker 5: double the stuff and I can be like, ah, well, Steve,
- 10:05Speaker 5: you could just get out that past the sauce I
- 10:07Speaker 5: made and defrust it. Because I'm a really good wife.
- 10:10Speaker 5: I did all of this hard.
- 10:12Speaker 2: I did this hard work.
- 10:13Speaker 4: And also I do love everything sturfry not gonna lie
- 10:16Speaker 4: ador as a sturfry that just is full of everything.
- 10:19Speaker 4: And sometimes you find something like if you're like, oh,
- 10:21Speaker 4: I just have these random like this odd vegetable that
- 10:24Speaker 4: I'd normally never put in a sturfry, but it's gonna
- 10:25Speaker 4: go about and not throw it in, and then you
- 10:27Speaker 4: realize it's actually delicious. Yeah, and you do it all
- 10:30Speaker 4: the time and then you buy more of that. All right,
- 10:32Speaker 4: let's go to a really quick break on the flip side,
- 10:34Speaker 4: we're going to be talking about job hopping and whether
- 10:36Speaker 4: it's safe to do that in the current market. We're
- 10:39Speaker 4: then going to be answering a question that you slid
- 10:41Speaker 4: into our DMS about, and it's whether you can lie
- 10:43Speaker 4: on your rental application to increase your chances of securing
- 10:46Speaker 4: a property. So do not go anywhere, my friends.
- 10:54Speaker 5: Welcome back everybody. Let's take a listen to this week's
- 10:56Speaker 5: money dilemma.
- 10:59Speaker 2: Hi.
- 10:59Speaker 4: There, have you got a money dilemma you just can't solve?
- 11:02Speaker 4: The She's on the Money team is here to help.
- 11:05Speaker 4: Every week we tackle your dilemmas, both big and small,
- 11:08Speaker 4: to answer your most burning money, career and life questions.
- 11:11Speaker 4: To get involved, simply head to our website and leave
- 11:14Speaker 4: us a short voice recording and you might just find
- 11:16Speaker 4: yourself on the show. Now, let's take a listen to
- 11:19Speaker 4: this week's money dilemma.
- 11:23Speaker 6: Hi, guys, I had a question regarding job hopping. So
- 11:26Speaker 6: in the past two years, I've held two positions and
- 11:30Speaker 6: I've just started a new one. So I usually keep
- 11:33Speaker 6: my positions for about a year two year and a
- 11:35Speaker 6: half and then I try to upscull and find a
- 11:38Speaker 6: better job for better pay obviously, So from last year
- 11:42Speaker 6: to this year, my pay has gone up by about
- 11:44Speaker 6: thirty five to forty k I just want to know
- 11:47Speaker 6: what this looks like to her potential employer and whether
- 11:50Speaker 6: chasing money is really everything, but also keeping in mind
- 11:54Speaker 6: the economy is not doing well, I would love to
- 11:59Speaker 6: know your opinion. Thank you guys so much, love your podcast.
- 12:03Speaker 5: Ah queen, pop Off, pop Off.
- 12:06Speaker 4: Your income's gone up thirty five to forty thousand dollars.
- 12:09Speaker 5: That's a huge I would.
- 12:10Speaker 2: Leave my job too.
- 12:11Speaker 5: Yeah, literally, fie genius catcher, I have a nice day. Yeah,
- 12:15Speaker 5: nice knowing you.
- 12:16Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm so sorry to see you go bye, kick
- 12:19Speaker 2: you on the way out. I find that.
- 12:22Speaker 4: Such a good question, especially in this economy, Jessica. Yeah,
- 12:26Speaker 4: so first things first, I wish you had told me
- 12:28Speaker 4: what areas working, because obviously some industries are more impacted
- 12:32Speaker 4: than others. Like if you're talking about let's say, healthcare,
- 12:35Speaker 4: that's universal, like regardless of the I guess economy, that's
- 12:39Speaker 4: going to be a necessity. And obviously job hopping can
- 12:42Speaker 4: be quite hard. It sounds like she's quite smart with it,
- 12:44Speaker 4: because obviously she's a bit more planned than the average bear.
- 12:48Speaker 4: And I'm assuming that you're interviewing for jobs and not
- 12:51Speaker 4: quitting your job and then finding a new one. I
- 12:52Speaker 4: feel like I've said this on the pod before, but
- 12:54Speaker 4: like it always pays to have a conversation if you
- 12:56Speaker 4: always say no, Like if that job offers you a role, Jess,
- 12:59Speaker 4: and you go, I'm not really keen on that you
- 13:01Speaker 4: can do that, but it's always a good idea to
- 13:04Speaker 4: have the conversation because you might learn that the grass
- 13:05Speaker 4: is really greener where you order it, yeah, or maybe
- 13:08Speaker 4: you get offered a job opportunity. If neither of those
- 13:11Speaker 4: things are happening, you're getting experience interviewing, and that's a
- 13:14Speaker 4: slagh like. I think all of those are really important.
- 13:17Speaker 4: Do I think that job hopping is a bad thing. No,
- 13:20Speaker 4: I don't. If your job hopping to upskill, then that's great.
- 13:23Speaker 4: I do think that there's a cap on it, though, Jess.
- 13:26Speaker 4: So like, I think at some point you're not going
- 13:28Speaker 4: to have those thirty five to forty thousand dollars increases
- 13:31Speaker 4: every single time. Like, I can completely see how you
- 13:33Speaker 4: might go from like sixty to like ninety, but I
- 13:37Speaker 4: feel like once you get to like ninety, it's much
- 13:39Speaker 4: harder to get one hundred and one hundred and ten
- 13:41Speaker 4: and so on and so forth. Like these things don't
- 13:43Speaker 4: grow in the same ways as they might.
- 13:45Speaker 2: At the start of your career. So I totally see
- 13:48Speaker 2: where you're going.
- 13:49Speaker 4: I also think that you need to be a little
- 13:51Speaker 4: bit more I guess mindful when job hopping, Like are
- 13:55Speaker 4: you leaving an opportunity where you're like, look, I can
- 13:57Speaker 4: see the grass is greener on the other side and
- 13:59Speaker 4: it's more expensive, But are you moving on over to
- 14:02Speaker 4: another job where you're starting from scratch and you actually
- 14:04Speaker 4: could have had more career progression and experience if you've
- 14:07Speaker 4: stayed as a certain location longer. Like I mean, I
- 14:10Speaker 4: look at you, Jess, for example, because like you're an employee,
- 14:13Speaker 4: and I go, well, I don't know if you would
- 14:15Speaker 4: have been able to hop into the role that you have,
- 14:17Speaker 4: But you got the role that you have because of
- 14:18Speaker 4: the experience and how long you work with cheese on
- 14:21Speaker 4: the money and like how I knew your capability was there.
- 14:23Speaker 4: But if you'd applied for that having not had the experience,
- 14:25Speaker 4: I don't know if it would have worked. So I
- 14:28Speaker 4: think it just it really depends what are your thoughts.
- 14:31Speaker 4: I think that once every twelve months is totally fine.
- 14:34Speaker 4: Like I wouldn't consider that frequent job hopping. I know
- 14:37Speaker 4: that by older standards that probably you know, when people
- 14:40Speaker 4: like you stayed a job for twenty years, ah, that
- 14:42Speaker 4: would be really frequent. Once a year I don't think
- 14:45Speaker 4: is the worst. I completely agree that.
- 14:47Speaker 5: I think you'll hit a cap where it perhaps is
- 14:50Speaker 5: not as appealing because you're not having such a significant
- 14:52Speaker 5: change in income as a result of the job hop.
- 14:55Speaker 5: But I mean from like a recruitment perspective, I think
- 14:57Speaker 5: if you can explain that change, I say, oh, I
- 15:00Speaker 5: left job A because at job B I stepped into
- 15:03Speaker 5: a role where I had an opportunity to manage a team.
- 15:05Speaker 5: And I left job B because when I went to
- 15:07Speaker 5: job C, I then also got to be involved in,
- 15:10Speaker 5: you know, a different side of the business. I think,
- 15:12Speaker 5: if you can easily explain those things, once a year
- 15:15Speaker 5: is definitely not the worst. But I do think, as
- 15:17Speaker 5: you said, you'll stop seeing such significant changes in the
- 15:21Speaker 5: amount of money that you receive. And as you said,
- 15:24Speaker 5: there is value sometimes in staying in one company if
- 15:27Speaker 5: that company is willing to invest in you, or if
- 15:29Speaker 5: you find a really good company culture, because those companies
- 15:32Speaker 5: are not as common as you like them to be.
- 15:35Speaker 5: So I think that as long as you're weighing up
- 15:38Speaker 5: what you're giving up against what you're gaining, and if
- 15:40Speaker 5: it makes sense for you, I think that it's fine
- 15:43Speaker 5: if you are, I guess, in a role which is
- 15:45Speaker 5: more expendable. That's the other thing that it sounds like
- 15:48Speaker 5: you would want a factor in, and it sounds like
- 15:50Speaker 5: she is factoring that in. You know, if you are
- 15:52Speaker 5: a really niche if you're like I draw pictures of
- 15:56Speaker 5: animals in my job. That's my job and it's very specific,
- 15:59Speaker 5: and there's only so many companies that would want you
- 16:01Speaker 5: drawing those pictures of animals. Is it something that could
- 16:04Speaker 5: be impacted by the economy potentially if there are companies
- 16:07Speaker 5: winding back their budgets, maybe they've got less budget to
- 16:09Speaker 5: offer for a new role. Maybe there's a higher risk
- 16:12Speaker 5: of redundancy. You know, I don't know why is that example?
- 16:15Speaker 5: That was an example?
- 16:16Speaker 2: That was a great example. I just let you roll
- 16:18Speaker 2: with it.
- 16:18Speaker 5: I was like, this is fantastic. I was trying to
- 16:21Speaker 5: think of something niche and nothing was coming to mind.
- 16:24Speaker 6: Niche.
- 16:24Speaker 5: It is if not niche illustrator if you're an illustrated
- 16:27Speaker 5: but only of animals that I was trying to think
- 16:30Speaker 5: of something like Australian animals or is it like if
- 16:32Speaker 5: you specialize in Australia or something. I don't know. I'm
- 16:35Speaker 5: sure someone at home can think of a much better
- 16:38Speaker 5: niche vise.
- 16:39Speaker 2: I was thinking about all of that while you were
- 16:41Speaker 2: at to animal drawings, and I think as an employer,
- 16:46Speaker 2: I will absolutely look at your resume and be like, oh,
- 16:48Speaker 2: she was there for a year, she was there for
- 16:50Speaker 2: a year, and they were there for another year.
- 16:52Speaker 5: Right.
- 16:53Speaker 4: What I'm actually looking for is the progression in role,
- 16:56Speaker 4: So like, if you write a good resume, you're going
- 16:59Speaker 4: to be able to articulate to me the gained skills
- 17:02Speaker 4: and experiences that you had in those roles and the
- 17:05Speaker 4: increase in I guess responsibility in your next role. I'm
- 17:08Speaker 4: also looking for gaps, so whether there was like three
- 17:11Speaker 4: or four months between your last job and this job.
- 17:13Speaker 4: That tells me a lot more than you just job hopping.
- 17:16Speaker 4: So I think that there's a I guess a story
- 17:18Speaker 4: that a resume tells, and when you're putting your resume together,
- 17:20Speaker 4: you've got to think of that story, Like what am
- 17:22Speaker 4: I putting in front of the employer, and what are
- 17:26Speaker 4: they going to think of that? Like, you know, if
- 17:28Speaker 4: I'm finishing in April, but I don't have another role
- 17:30Speaker 4: until August, Like, are they going to question that gap?
- 17:32Speaker 4: In my experience? I am, because I'm going to go, well,
- 17:35Speaker 4: why was that? Like you know the major red flag
- 17:38Speaker 4: is there?
- 17:39Speaker 5: Unemployable?
- 17:40Speaker 4: Yeah, like did you get fired after twelve months because
- 17:43Speaker 4: it just wasn't working out? Or did you have to
- 17:45Speaker 4: take leave because of you know, whatever was going on?
- 17:47Speaker 4: And I think it's just they're reasonable questions to be asking.
- 17:50Speaker 4: But do I think it is safe to job hop
- 17:53Speaker 4: in the current market? Depends on your job and it
- 17:55Speaker 4: also depends on what you're taking on. I don't think
- 17:58Speaker 4: it is a bad thing, but I also think you
- 18:00Speaker 4: need to be super aware that, yeah, there's going to
- 18:02Speaker 4: be a cap on what you can earn.
- 18:04Speaker 5: And what The other thing I would throw in there
- 18:06Speaker 5: is what business are you hopping too? Because, for example,
- 18:08Speaker 5: in an unstable economy, startup life can be higher.
- 18:12Speaker 2: Risk for roles.
- 18:13Speaker 5: You know, if it's a business that doesn't have a
- 18:15Speaker 5: really stable cash flow or really stable customer base, those
- 18:18Speaker 5: are the businesses that might struggle a bit more. Small
- 18:20Speaker 5: businesses as well might feel the impacts of a potential
- 18:23Speaker 5: recession or of economic disjointment more than a large corp would.
- 18:29Speaker 5: And so it also depends, I guess, on where you're
- 18:31Speaker 5: going to and what you're.
- 18:32Speaker 2: Doing as well.
- 18:33Speaker 4: Yeah, and it also depends at what level you're performing.
- 18:35Speaker 4: So you mentioned like redundancies before, and I was having
- 18:38Speaker 4: this conversation the other day at my husband's B and
- 18:41Speaker 4: F dinner with somebody and they were talking about like, oh, well,
- 18:45Speaker 4: I have this grad job, and like, I'm really nervous
- 18:48Speaker 4: because I've only worked here for three or four months.
- 18:50Speaker 2: And at the end of the day they're talking. You know,
- 18:52Speaker 2: there's whispers in the business.
- 18:53Speaker 4: About redundancy, and their immediate assumption was lasting first out. Yeah,
- 18:59Speaker 4: and so like if you were last into the business,
- 19:01Speaker 4: like they're going to kick you out the first And
- 19:03Speaker 4: I was like, babe, like you work as a graduate,
- 19:06Speaker 4: your salary is down here, they're going to actually keep
- 19:08Speaker 4: you and probably get rid of the higher consultants, because
- 19:11Speaker 4: that's more in corporate life, that's usually how it happens.
- 19:13Speaker 4: They're not going to shoot themselves in the foot and
- 19:15Speaker 4: get rid of the really cheap labor. But I think
- 19:18Speaker 4: in some businesses that is true. In some businesses it's not.
- 19:21Speaker 4: And I can't just sweepingly say.
- 19:22Speaker 2: Oh, well, if you're lasting, you're first out.
- 19:25Speaker 4: Like it's something that lots of people might say, but
- 19:28Speaker 4: I think you need to just understand the environment and
- 19:30Speaker 4: how that works.
- 19:31Speaker 2: So there's like lots to it.
- 19:33Speaker 4: Ultimately, No, I don't think it's a bad thing if
- 19:35Speaker 4: you are calculated and researched.
- 19:36Speaker 5: Yeah, completely agree.
- 19:38Speaker 2: All right, miss Jess GRICI, we have a DM. Are
- 19:41Speaker 2: you ready?
- 19:42Speaker 5: I'm excited to talk about this ram.
- 19:44Speaker 4: I know, I feel like today's episode was literally curated
- 19:47Speaker 4: for your interests.
- 19:48Speaker 2: All right, so a.
- 19:49Speaker 4: DM this week sounded identical to this. Yess, Hello, I
- 19:54Speaker 4: have a community call out that relents to renting with
- 19:57Speaker 4: a cat. It's kind of one of those am I
- 20:00Speaker 4: the asshole situations. I'm applying for my dream job and
- 20:04Speaker 4: it involves a short term relocation to Melbourne for training.
- 20:07Speaker 4: I'll be there for about six or eight months, after
- 20:09Speaker 4: which I would return back to Sydney. I have a
- 20:12Speaker 4: six year old indoor princess. We're talking about a cat
- 20:15Speaker 4: here because she's putting brackets. The cat emoji who is
- 20:18Speaker 4: perfectly house trained. And while I know landlords can't refuse
- 20:22Speaker 4: a pet application without a good reason, it is highly
- 20:25Speaker 4: likely they'll give preference to somebody without a pet. I'm
- 20:28Speaker 4: considering not declaring her on applications and just keeping her
- 20:31Speaker 4: hidden from the landlord just so I can secure a
- 20:34Speaker 4: place to live for the time frame. What would others recommend? Oh?
- 20:39Speaker 5: This is so hard? Can I see both sides of
- 20:40Speaker 5: the story.
- 20:41Speaker 4: Let's start with our community questions then, and then we
- 20:43Speaker 4: can overlay our opinion. Because we as in Jesse, RICI
- 20:47Speaker 4: and I have both rented with cats.
- 20:50Speaker 2: So question number one, or we asked.
- 20:52Speaker 4: The community was if this was you, would you keep
- 20:55Speaker 4: the cat a secret? Thirty nine percent of you said yep,
- 20:59Speaker 4: they won't find out anyway.
- 21:01Speaker 2: Like Ballsy, sixty one percent of you.
- 21:03Speaker 4: Said no, I'd be nervous if the consequences, which is
- 21:06Speaker 4: Jess and I. The next question we asked was have
- 21:09Speaker 4: you missed out on a rental before because of pets?
- 21:12Speaker 4: Forty one percent of you said yes and fifty nine
- 21:14Speaker 4: percent of you said no. And then we said, if yes,
- 21:17Speaker 4: would you consider hiding the pet next time? Fifty one
- 21:20Speaker 4: percent of you said yes, which I think is you
- 21:24Speaker 4: know you've been burned before. Then we said, if you
- 21:28Speaker 4: or someone you know is a landlord, are applications without
- 21:31Speaker 4: pets more favorable. Sixty one percent of you said yep, absolutely,
- 21:36Speaker 4: one hundred percent proferno pets. Seeing I don't like people, Jessica.
- 21:42Speaker 5: It's really hard, I think because as a current renter
- 21:46Speaker 5: with two cats, you know, I would hate to think
- 21:49Speaker 5: that that would impact an application for me because I
- 21:51Speaker 5: know that I'm a great tenant, Like we have never
- 21:53Speaker 5: ever missed a rent payment. We always leave the house
- 21:54Speaker 5: in fantastic condition, like our listener. My cat's are really
- 21:58Speaker 5: well trained.
- 21:59Speaker 1: You know.
- 21:59Speaker 5: I have lived with people where the cats have caused damage.
- 22:01Speaker 5: But then part of my brain says, well, that's what
- 22:03Speaker 5: your bond is for. But I think it's tricky because
- 22:07Speaker 5: you know, pets are for companionship, and I would hate
- 22:09Speaker 5: to think that if someone was a really great tenant
- 22:12Speaker 5: or applicant that they would be denied as a result
- 22:15Speaker 5: of that. On the flip side of that, I can
- 22:17Speaker 5: see as a landlord, you have a right to have
- 22:20Speaker 5: your property respected and treated in the way that you
- 22:22Speaker 5: want it to be treated. You know, if that is
- 22:25Speaker 5: a hard and fast rule for you if you said,
- 22:27Speaker 5: I own this property and I really don't want to
- 22:28Speaker 5: have pets in it. Maybe you have an allergy to cats,
- 22:30Speaker 5: and you're like, I don't want to if I want to.
- 22:32Speaker 4: Live back in in two years and have to replace
- 22:34Speaker 4: the carpets because there's cats are in there.
- 22:35Speaker 5: Yeah, So like I kind of also understand how you know,
- 22:39Speaker 5: as a landlord, you've invested your money and you do
- 22:41Speaker 5: have a right to manage it in the way that
- 22:43Speaker 5: you see fit. I feel like if it was me,
- 22:46Speaker 5: if anything, if I was gonna be a bit dodgy,
- 22:50Speaker 5: I would apply without listing the pet, and then as
- 22:54Speaker 5: soon as I moved in submit a pet application. So
- 22:57Speaker 5: that because I don't I don't think you can live there.
- 23:00Speaker 5: I don't think you can live there without telling them.
- 23:02Speaker 5: I think that's hard. I think it's rude. I think, like,
- 23:05Speaker 5: what if you know, as well trained as your cat are,
- 23:08Speaker 5: my cats have been sick before. Like, you can't control
- 23:11Speaker 5: every variable. So I feel like, if anything, like if
- 23:14Speaker 5: you really are stressing, if you're finding that you can't
- 23:16Speaker 5: get a rental, particularly Victoria where we do have those
- 23:18Speaker 5: laws that are in favor of the tenant regarding pets,
- 23:22Speaker 5: I would say apply and then like move in and
- 23:25Speaker 5: literally like that week, apply for a pet.
- 23:27Speaker 4: Yeah, I can't disagree with that. I think that, you know,
- 23:30Speaker 4: the rental market is incredibly challenging, so I don't want
- 23:32Speaker 4: to be like, don't do don't.
- 23:34Speaker 2: Yes, I think that respect is actually a two way street.
- 23:37Speaker 5: So if you're.
- 23:38Speaker 4: Saying, hey, I'm considering lying to my landlord, okay, no worries.
- 23:41Speaker 5: It makes me feel a bit icky.
- 23:43Speaker 4: No, no, but like, would you be okay if your
- 23:44Speaker 4: landlord lied to you about something? So why do you
- 23:48Speaker 4: think that you get to lie and they don't? So
- 23:50Speaker 4: I think that yeah, that's my answer is like I
- 23:53Speaker 4: wouldn't lie.
- 23:54Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 23:55Speaker 2: I think it's also very.
- 23:57Speaker 4: Fair to be wary of pets, right because I have
- 23:59Speaker 4: seen nightmare dogs. I seen nightmare cats, Like I had
- 24:03Speaker 4: had past tense a friend who had a cat.
- 24:06Speaker 2: That would rip the hell out of the carpet.
- 24:08Speaker 4: She'd just be like, Oh, he's just so funny, and
- 24:11Speaker 4: I'd be like, what the heck, Like my.
- 24:13Speaker 2: Cats would never do that.
- 24:14Speaker 4: And I know you're exactly the same, Like we are
- 24:17Speaker 4: psychos with our pets, Like we.
- 24:18Speaker 5: Picked a house that was all floorboards because we're like well,
- 24:20Speaker 5: then it's not an issue.
- 24:21Speaker 2: I'm completely on that page.
- 24:23Speaker 4: We like put so many more floorboards in the only
- 24:26Speaker 4: place in my house that has carpet is my bedroom.
- 24:29Speaker 2: Because I was like, okay, that's fine.
- 24:30Speaker 4: But then also like I've gone to the extent of
- 24:33Speaker 4: like I hate cat litter, hate it. I've had a
- 24:35Speaker 4: cat lit as system plumbed into my house. Yeah, I'm crazy,
- 24:39Speaker 4: but how does your landlord know that you're getting a
- 24:41Speaker 4: Victoria in a jess or somebody else who doesn't care
- 24:44Speaker 4: so much? So for me, when I was renting with pets,
- 24:47Speaker 4: I put in a little pet resume, so I rode up.
- 24:51Speaker 4: At the time, I only had Bailey, one cat, and
- 24:54Speaker 4: I wrote him up a resume. I added some pictures
- 24:56Speaker 4: because I do have a Tonkinese cat, so like he
- 24:59Speaker 4: does look a little bit different and he's a little
- 25:01Speaker 4: bit of a special boy, Like he's a bit of
- 25:03Speaker 4: a princess. So I added his little PRINCESSI photos, and
- 25:06Speaker 4: then I just did a bio of like, hey, here's
- 25:09Speaker 4: Bailey's health stats. This is what he gets up to
- 25:11Speaker 4: during the day, just so you know, like we really
- 25:13Speaker 4: don't like litter tracking. What we do is we vacuum
- 25:16Speaker 4: three or four times a week because of that, and
- 25:19Speaker 4: I think that that is what ultimately got us our
- 25:22Speaker 4: last rental, because they had such clarity on who was
- 25:25Speaker 4: moving in. Like I have always been an above and
- 25:28Speaker 4: beyond person when it comes to applying for things, like
- 25:30Speaker 4: if it was a job, like I would make sure
- 25:32Speaker 4: that everything on my resume and cover letter was super tailored.
- 25:35Speaker 4: I know not everyone is like that, and knewmight go, well,
- 25:37Speaker 4: I shouldn't have to do that. Don't then, like, I'm
- 25:39Speaker 4: just trying to put myself ahead of the competition, if
- 25:42Speaker 4: I'm being honest, And so I always had a bio
- 25:45Speaker 4: on me, a bio on.
- 25:46Speaker 2: My husband at the time who I was moving in with.
- 25:48Speaker 4: And a bio on the cat and am I was
- 25:50Speaker 4: told by our real estate agent, that's why you got it,
- 25:53Speaker 4: because they had immediate clarity on like this is Steve,
- 25:56Speaker 4: this is Victoria, this is their cat Bailey, this is
- 25:58Speaker 4: what this looks like.
- 25:59Speaker 2: Yeah, and they were really happy with that.
- 26:01Speaker 4: So I think that just the added level of transparency
- 26:05Speaker 4: really helped our situation.
- 26:07Speaker 2: Yeah, and I can put it on stories.
- 26:08Speaker 4: We'll put our little cat resume up so that you
- 26:10Speaker 4: guys can copy it. But it was lame, so lame.
- 26:14Speaker 4: But I think that's what made them laugh because jess
- 26:17Speaker 4: as I said, I like to be prepared.
- 26:19Speaker 2: Every open for inspection.
- 26:21Speaker 4: I went to I took my little folder of printed
- 26:23Speaker 4: out applications, my printed out resumes, photo copies of my
- 26:27Speaker 4: license and passports, so I could be like, hi, kin,
- 26:30Speaker 4: so here's my pre prepared applications. Put me above and
- 26:33Speaker 4: beyond everybody else. They actually put Bailey's resume on their
- 26:36Speaker 4: fridge at work. That's so coy, and it had his
- 26:38Speaker 4: little reference. So I had the last rental property manager
- 26:42Speaker 4: that he lived in a property with, and I also
- 26:44Speaker 4: put his bet.
- 26:45Speaker 5: I feel it was that's actually a great It's not
- 26:48Speaker 5: I feel like putting if you have rented with this
- 26:50Speaker 5: cat somewhere else. I reckon having having a note on
- 26:54Speaker 5: that a previous landlord or somebody who can say, oh, yeah,
- 26:57Speaker 5: like the cat lived here. It was a total non issue.
- 27:00Speaker 5: I think would go a very long.
- 27:01Speaker 4: Way because there are cats that climb curtains, there are
- 27:04Speaker 4: cats that climb windows and doors, and there are dogs
- 27:07Speaker 4: that scratch the hell out of a back door to
- 27:08Speaker 4: the point where it needs to be replaced. So I
- 27:10Speaker 4: think we need to address the fact that those are
- 27:13Speaker 4: the things that your landlord is concerned about, and being
- 27:16Speaker 4: able to say, oh, by the way, Jess, this is
- 27:19Speaker 4: the pet that would live here specifically might alleviate some
- 27:22Speaker 4: of their concerns. So for me, I'm definitely in the
- 27:24Speaker 4: camp of complete transparency because it's worked for me historically.
- 27:29Speaker 4: But also that's why I needed to give you so
- 27:32Speaker 4: much context and be like, yeah, it's worked for me historically, Jess.
- 27:34Speaker 4: But also I have been one of those above and
- 27:37Speaker 4: beyond people who like kind of did the crazy application
- 27:40Speaker 4: because I did want the house. I remember when I
- 27:43Speaker 4: went to the open for inspection for our last rental
- 27:45Speaker 4: property before we bought, and there were like sixty people there.
- 27:48Speaker 4: I left, there's no chance, yeah, exac.
- 27:51Speaker 5: And so I understand how it can be stressful for
- 27:54Speaker 5: our listener, but I think, yeah, like I wouldn't go
- 27:57Speaker 5: the full keep it a secret, like, I just don't
- 27:59Speaker 5: think it'll work. And I think if you get busted,
- 28:01Speaker 5: is that grounds potentially.
- 28:02Speaker 4: For you to be I think it definitely is ground
- 28:04Speaker 4: which is to be kicked out. But I also just
- 28:06Speaker 4: look at it and I go, you would expect your
- 28:08Speaker 4: landlord and your real estate agent do not lie to you,
- 28:10Speaker 4: So why do you think it's okay to do it?
- 28:12Speaker 4: In vice versa, like there might be a leak or
- 28:14Speaker 4: something in the laundry and they're like, oh, they might
- 28:17Speaker 4: not want the house because of that, let's just not
- 28:18Speaker 4: tell them. That's not okay. So why is it okay
- 28:21Speaker 4: for you to do it? I'm also a very black
- 28:23Speaker 4: and white person, like in my head, there's a right
- 28:25Speaker 4: and a wrong, and it's got me into a lot
- 28:27Speaker 4: of trouble.
- 28:27Speaker 5: Historic So what did everybody else think?
- 28:30Speaker 2: Honestly, there were so many diverse responses.
- 28:33Speaker 4: Yes, so first things first, someone said, we have no
- 28:36Speaker 4: issues with animals renting our properties. It's the people renting
- 28:39Speaker 4: that destroy it.
- 28:40Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 28:40Speaker 4: Someone else said I'll take a cat over a toddler
- 28:43Speaker 4: any day.
- 28:44Speaker 5: Honestly, super relevant. Yes, don't have a opposable thumbs, No,
- 28:49Speaker 5: landa drawn on the wall.
- 28:51Speaker 1: No.
- 28:51Speaker 4: As someone who's about to have a baby and looking
- 28:53Speaker 4: around her house going I think it needs babyproofing, I'm like,
- 28:56Speaker 4: where do people keep crayons and stuff in the future,
- 28:58Speaker 4: because I'm you know, if I leave crayons out, like,
- 29:01Speaker 4: my cat's not going to draw on the wall.
- 29:03Speaker 2: Yeah, you know who's going to draw on the wall.
- 29:04Speaker 2: Baby yep, bam.
- 29:07Speaker 4: Anyway, next they said, apply, then advise that you have
- 29:10Speaker 4: a cat after the rental has been accepted, because they
- 29:12Speaker 4: shouldn't be declining it anyway. Someone said controversial, but if
- 29:16Speaker 4: there is carpet, you can't get that smell out.
- 29:19Speaker 2: Sorry, ladies, I would disagree.
- 29:22Speaker 5: This is a weird thing.
- 29:23Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean if your cat on the well carpet. Yeah,
- 29:27Speaker 2: But like, Jess, do you walk into my house and
- 29:28Speaker 2: smell my pets? I hope not. I hope it smells
- 29:30Speaker 2: like domestos.
- 29:31Speaker 5: I would argue that dogs, but I'm not a dog irness.
- 29:33Speaker 5: I don't know if that's just because I have cat,
- 29:35Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 29:35Speaker 4: But also, like, look at my dog. She's technically one
- 29:38Speaker 4: of those hyperalergenic dogs. She doesn't drop any fur. It
- 29:41Speaker 4: means that we have to brush her all the damn time.
- 29:43Speaker 4: But like that's very different to having a German shepherd
- 29:45Speaker 4: who does drop further might get caught in the carpets.
- 29:48Speaker 2: Right, That's so true. Again, different horses for different courses.
- 29:51Speaker 4: Someone said, I'd be super welcoming to renters with dogs cats, know,
- 29:55Speaker 4: due to allergies and other landlord experiences can't people be
- 29:59Speaker 4: allergic to dogs too?
- 30:00Speaker 2: Totally but interesting bias. Everyone gets an opinion.
- 30:05Speaker 4: Someone else said, I know they can't legally refuse pets
- 30:07Speaker 4: without a valid reason, but I've seen contracts once accepted
- 30:10Speaker 4: that then say no pets. Someone said again, want to reiterate,
- 30:15Speaker 4: I'd take pets over kids any day.
- 30:17Speaker 5: They're really hammering that home.
- 30:19Speaker 2: I see you.
- 30:21Speaker 4: Someone said, in New Zealand, people can get a pet
- 30:23Speaker 4: after moving into the rental and they don't have to
- 30:25Speaker 4: tell their landlord. That's an interesting rule. What a conundrum.
- 30:28Speaker 4: Someone said, try and see if you can get it first.
- 30:30Speaker 4: If no luck after a set period, change your narrative
- 30:34Speaker 4: to what lying about having a pet?
- 30:36Speaker 2: Oh?
- 30:36Speaker 5: I see, and.
- 30:38Speaker 2: Then I've got two more.
- 30:39Speaker 4: Someone said I wouldn't approve a dog as my IP
- 30:42Speaker 4: is a flat. I think IP means investment property, which
- 30:46Speaker 4: means there's not enough space.
- 30:47Speaker 2: But I'd definitely approve someone with a cat, which makes sense.
- 30:51Speaker 5: I think there's also the narrative or the assumption. And
- 30:53Speaker 5: as someone who rents like I can admit that I
- 30:55Speaker 5: have felt this way sometimes that all landlords are just
- 30:57Speaker 5: so particular and they only want a really particular type
- 30:59Speaker 5: of person. And then their property, and it can feel
- 31:02Speaker 5: really hard to if you don't fit that standard. Yeah,
- 31:05Speaker 5: but there are some out there, as we're seeing in
- 31:08Speaker 5: these comments, of people who don't mind, or who are
- 31:10Speaker 5: maybe really reasonable and really level headed, and if you
- 31:13Speaker 5: showed them the right you know, the pet resume and
- 31:15Speaker 5: the references and all of those kinds of things, then
- 31:17Speaker 5: maybe it would turn out totally fine.
- 31:19Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 31:19Speaker 4: And then this last person that I'm going to read
- 31:21Speaker 4: out says, I'm a landlord. It actually depends on the pet.
- 31:24Speaker 4: I'm happy with pets like cats and small dogs in
- 31:27Speaker 4: our small rental property. So again, I think that clarity
- 31:31Speaker 4: situation where you go, hey, actually, this is my pet,
- 31:34Speaker 4: this is what they act like, this is their behavior here,
- 31:36Speaker 4: and maybe some references. I totally get that there are
- 31:39Speaker 4: people out there that gonna go Victoria, I shouldn't have
- 31:41Speaker 4: to do that, or you shouldn't, but you know what,
- 31:43Speaker 4: there are people out there who are doing it. And
- 31:45Speaker 4: I can almost guarantee that if I one day become
- 31:48Speaker 4: a landlord and I look at Jess's application that has
- 31:51Speaker 4: I have one cat, and then Jess's application that has
- 31:54Speaker 4: I have one cat, here's a whole heap of information
- 31:56Speaker 4: about them. I am going to go with the more
- 31:58Speaker 4: educated decision because it makes me feel more confident as
- 32:01Speaker 4: somebody who's lasing out that property also tells me a
- 32:04Speaker 4: fair bit about that person's I guess, commitment, personality. I'm like, Wow,
- 32:09Speaker 4: they really have gone above and beyond so as much
- 32:12Speaker 4: as you shouldn't have to if there are other people
- 32:14Speaker 4: out there doing it, the probability of you getting picked
- 32:16Speaker 4: when honestly there's a better option on the table, Like
- 32:20Speaker 4: I think, we do need to put in the effort,
- 32:21Speaker 4: especially if we want to have our pet sleep with.
- 32:24Speaker 5: Us, and that's what we all want. We want our
- 32:26Speaker 5: little ferry friends.
- 32:27Speaker 2: Yeah, too true.
- 32:27Speaker 4: All right, before I get all emotional about puppies and
- 32:30Speaker 4: kittens and honestly looking at otto videos on.
- 32:32Speaker 2: TikTok, we need to go.
- 32:34Speaker 4: It has been a wonderful Friday recap with you, Jessica.
- 32:38Speaker 4: I'll see you guys on Monday, bright and early for
- 32:40Speaker 4: pre recorded money Diaries, because don't forget jess and I
