- 0:14Hello and welcome to the Field Podcast.
- 0:17I've got my staff here with me today.
- 0:20You're going to get to see these people that work behind the
- 0:23scenes that make all the things happen.
- 0:27So much of the magic that you see happen here on the field
- 0:30podcast and on the embracing there's network hole is because
- 0:33of my team and I've got this 3 here today and third one may not
- 0:39be able to join. We've got two of three here for
- 0:41sure. And if you hear from them, not
- 0:44only their perspectives on the season, because they eat
- 0:47bringing in their own nuanced perspective, but what it is that
- 0:50they do for us and how they take a look at each episode the first
- 0:56time they see it. And the lens that they're
- 0:58looking at it through as they prepare to promote parts of it
- 1:01that they do, Whether it's on our social media or smart blogs
- 1:06or on our website or with our sub stack group.
- 1:09There's lots of different ways that my team interacts with you
- 1:14all in ways that you may not even know.
- 1:16So you're going to get a chance to share that today and wanted
- 1:18to highlight them. Thank you.
- 1:19And just in your perspective, we get a lot of shifts this season
- 1:23in this Season 8 with you heard me talk about this at, you know,
- 1:28at pretty good length on Thursday, as I highlighted the
- 1:30episodes of the biggest impact I think, for these is team members
- 1:35for the 2 episodes instead of fun.
- 1:38So that meant changing the level that they were involved in the
- 1:43amount of content. Definitely really the volume in
- 1:46a lot of ways of what I was asking of them prior to this
- 1:50shift. So without them, there's no way
- 1:53this would have been possible. And I had to get by in from them
- 1:56to make this happen. So they did bring you guys to
- 1:59guests. So a big thank you to them.
- 2:03First off, I've got Charlotte Heehan and Jessica Pearson with
- 2:07me today. Charlotte is does all the magic
- 2:10behind everything needs to be on social media.
- 2:13That's Charlotte. She's the creator, the thought
- 2:16leader on that. She creates and comes up with
- 2:20the ideas. She's also the one that takes
- 2:22care of our websites. Anything you see happening on
- 2:25there, Charlotte has been the one that has done that.
- 2:28Jessica's our author and writer. She's the voice behind embracing
- 2:33Letters unapologetically. A book that's going to be 1 year
- 2:35old next week she writes the blog comes up ways to engage she
- 2:40operates our sub stack and our sub stack lives and she's.
- 2:43Going to get to. Share a little bit about that
- 2:45later in the episode as we get ready to have a new book club
- 2:49with our book as well as authors A.
- 2:54Past podcast. Guest they're going to be
- 2:56incorporated into that well, one exciting things to hear our
- 2:59editor Rio has been able to join us today.
- 3:03But Rio is the one that goes in and does all of the editing on
- 3:07our episodes, cleans them up, makes pretty the messes I make
- 3:14recording all the bloopers and things you don't see because Rio
- 3:18goes in and does his math. He also manages our YouTube page
- 3:22and is working on getting that up to speed with our SEO.
- 3:26This fall we are going to have all video on our YouTube.
- 3:31It's not just going to be video from our panels and our shorts,
- 3:35but it's also going to be video from our podcast episodes.
- 3:39So you can see the video side of our podcast episode on our
- 3:42YouTube page and the auto audio side on the traditional
- 3:45platform, Spotify, Apple, our website, Amazon Music, wherever
- 3:50you listen. So that will be Rio in action
- 3:52doing that. He's also a graphic designer.
- 3:55And so he has done our logo rework and any shifts or things
- 4:00that we do with our graphic design, Rio is behind that.
- 4:03But no more from me. You've heard enough from me this
- 4:06week. I'm going to turn it over to my
- 4:08team. One last thing, this team,
- 4:12Charlotte and Jessica have been with me since almost the
- 4:16beginning. They joined the team six months
- 4:19after I started the podcast in the summer of 2020.
- 4:22When I started the podcast January of 2022, they joined our
- 4:27team. So they have been with me from
- 4:29almost the beginning and through all of our iterations.
- 4:32And I, it's just such, it's so incredible to have the
- 4:36continuity to, to have the relationships, to be able to
- 4:40know how each other operates and works.
- 4:42I fully trust these two to create and do the things they
- 4:46need to do. And I know they'll come to me if
- 4:48they need any help or guidance. And that makes doing this work
- 4:52so much easier. And I'm not able to what I do.
- 4:56And at the expansion that we've had from the podcast without
- 4:58their support and help. So I wanted to give them that
- 5:01shout out. And that goes for Rio, too.
- 5:04Sean, let's start with you. Tell me about what stood out for
- 5:09you in this season's episode, whether it was funny, did you
- 5:14think made you cry, Made you see something in a new way?
- 5:19Give me your insights on this season's episodes.
- 5:24There This was one of my favorite seasons of the podcast
- 5:26so far, and part of it is the fact that we just had so many
- 5:30episodes. So there were so many fantastic
- 5:32guests to get to hear from and so many different perspectives
- 5:36that were being brought to the podcast each week.
- 5:38And really having those two guests a week, some of them like
- 5:42had themes I noticed that overlapped and some really stood
- 5:45by themselves. And I noticed things in the
- 5:47episodes that really stuck with me, points that really stuck out
- 5:53with me. One of the first episodes I
- 5:57wanted to mention, one of the recent ones, the one with
- 6:01Activity. That was one of my favorite
- 6:04episodes this season so far. And I loved the anecdote that
- 6:08she said. It doesn't have to be a special
- 6:10occasion. There doesn't have to be anybody
- 6:12watching. You can just make yourself a
- 6:13fancy steak sandwich. And I thought that analogy was
- 6:17just so down to earth and realistic.
- 6:19And it's something that I don't think about when I'm in my
- 6:22day-to-day, Like I'm so busy. And so, you know, there's always
- 6:27so many things going on. And sometimes I don't just stop
- 6:31and kind of do something for myself just because I want to.
- 6:35And so I think that she brought up a really great point in that,
- 6:38you know, you deserve to do something nice for yourself.
- 6:41It doesn't have to be a special occasion, just do it.
- 6:44So that was one of the things that I really resonated with.
- 6:49Something else that I really enjoyed was in the other with
- 6:52Tina Mystery. I loved how she talked about
- 6:56boundaries and her scheduling and how calendars can be such an
- 7:01important tool when it comes to her boundaries.
- 7:04Because again, I think it's something I need to be a little
- 7:07bit more when I think of, you know, a day that I'm calling in
- 7:14sick to work or that I have an appointment, I kind of reserve
- 7:20that time for those kinds of duties and responsibilities.
- 7:24I was making such a point at sometimes, you know, if you
- 7:28schedule in family time and if you schedule in time that you're
- 7:32working on something, even if it's not with a client and if
- 7:35it's just for the day's work that you have ahead of you.
- 7:40It's so important to write those things in because you don't want
- 7:42to kind of short change yourself of the time that you have in the
- 7:45day. You want to maximize it.
- 7:47You want to make sure that you kind of, you know, setting those
- 7:50healthy boundaries for yourself so you don't wear yourself too
- 7:53thin. And I think it's really
- 7:55important that we prioritize ourselves and the things that go
- 7:58on in our personal lives just as much as the things that go on in
- 8:02our professional lives or in our work lives or whatever other
- 8:07responsibilities that we have. So I really thought that was a
- 8:10great point that she made and something that I want to be more
- 8:13mindful of. So it was really inspiring me.
- 8:16On that same note, I really loved what she's Holder said in
- 8:21her episode. One of my favorite analogies
- 8:24this season was that race car analogy that she gave.
- 8:30Yes, we have to take those pit stops.
- 8:32You know, sometimes you think it's going to take too much time
- 8:35if I have to stop and like think about something or kind of give
- 8:39myself a minute to like get back on track.
- 8:41But they do it all the time in those races.
- 8:43And those are super high speed, super intense reasons that seem
- 8:50kind of principles. We really love that she said
- 8:52that. Because if we don't take that
- 8:54time, if we don't stop and refuel literally like the race
- 8:57car, then we risk spinning out and we risk, you know, like we
- 9:02don't fill our own cup. We can't pour in.
- 9:06The same thing with the race car.
- 9:07If we don't kind of stop and refuel ourselves, we risk
- 9:10spinning out and then it's going to take more of a toll on us
- 9:13than if we just stopped in the 1st place and kind of sat with
- 9:16it for a minute. Yeah, yeah, I love those ones
- 9:20too. I love Anna Prezi because I
- 9:22think so unapologetic, so living out of her own expectations.
- 9:26I mean, just such a good example of that.
- 9:29Tina Mystery is one of my good friends here that I've made in
- 9:32Fresno in the last year. So that calendar analogy is such
- 9:35a great example of you are every bit as valuable and worthy of
- 9:40being in your calendar is everything else.
- 9:42So make sure you don't miss out on that.
- 9:44And it's an opportunity. Another guest that talked about
- 9:47that too is Andrea Pass. And so to get it from both
- 9:51Andrea and Tina, that reminder that your calendar can be your
- 9:55partner in this and it can be your protector.
- 9:59You know, it can be the one that kind of Shields you from those
- 10:03things you might want to say yes to.
- 10:04It's like, Nope, not room in my calendar, not space.
- 10:07They're going to do this. So it can really be that that
- 10:10kind of hedge that you need to protect yourself.
- 10:14So I love that so much. And yes, I mean, it's Suzanne
- 10:18Kohlberg, so much good stuff from her.
- 10:20I mean, she has such a handle on on healthy boundaries.
- 10:23She's so funny. And and I love that that pit
- 10:26stop is so relatable. It's just something you can all
- 10:29visualize in our heads. So I love those.
- 10:31I love those examples. Jess, what about you?
- 10:34What stuck out to you this season?
- 10:39I agree. I also was a huge fan.
- 10:42Like I remember telling you Melissa that before the end of
- 10:46prison episode came out, I had just listened to it and I was
- 10:48like, this episode is going to be so good.
- 10:50Like I'm so excited to write the blog on it.
- 10:53Like I love her just sitting in her bed, like just doing life.
- 10:57It's like I love that. I thought there was this great
- 11:01theme throughout the season of like self worth and women
- 11:05recognizing like, cuz that goes into the self-care.
- 11:08Like you're not going to take care of yourself if you don't
- 11:10see that you're worth it. The same with boundaries.
- 11:12You're not going to stand up for yourself if you don't think
- 11:14you're worth standing up for. And like looking over my notes,
- 11:19Jennifer Johnson was talking about her experience as a nurse
- 11:23and she was like, you know, they're saying they don't have
- 11:26nurses to do this work or to like, you know, that nobody
- 11:31wants to work these days. What people saying it's like,
- 11:34no, they just aren't going to do all this work, work 12 hour days
- 11:38for such little pay, no benefits.
- 11:40It's like we're just fed up with not being treated like our jobs
- 11:44are worth anything or we're worth anything.
- 11:47And that kind of standing up for herself, like in the workplace,
- 11:51standing up for other women in the workplace and making sure
- 11:53they're getting what what they're deserving of.
- 11:56So I really love that theme of like telling ourselves and other
- 12:01women around us like you're worth it to take care of
- 12:04yourself. You're worth it to eat the steak
- 12:07sandwich all by yourself that you made gourmet for yourself.
- 12:10Like to take yourself to the movie you want to see.
- 12:13And like, you know, you're not bad for eating that piece of
- 12:17cake for dessert like you wanted it.
- 12:19You're worth it. You can have it like just trying
- 12:22to be happy and supporting other women and doing that as well.
- 12:25Like that's been my favorite consistent thing that I've seen
- 12:28so far. Yeah, I agree.
- 12:32And Jen Johnson, I think I laughed.
- 12:34I forgot when I listened to that episode again, I was like, I
- 12:37laughed so hard in this episode, like to the point of like, Oh my
- 12:41gosh. I mean, I had so much fun with
- 12:43her. And also like her villain era
- 12:46piece. It's like one of the best things
- 12:49ever. I'm entering.
- 12:51But I'm like, yes, I love this so much.
- 12:53And I talked about all of these episodes too, as I was reviewing
- 12:57them on Tuesday. And I mentioned that I'm like,
- 12:59ladies, you got to, it's worth checking that out in itself.
- 13:02I mean, just such a crack up. But she's, you know, she saw
- 13:04the, the and she's seen the impact.
- 13:07And there's so much irony in the healthcare industry of how
- 13:11they're out there taking care of everybody else, but they're
- 13:14being asked by their organizations they're working
- 13:18for, whether it's a hospital, a clinic, whatever, to do these
- 13:21insane hours and shifts that are completely unhealthy and really
- 13:27make it impossible for them to be fresh as a fresh and alert as
- 13:32you would want your healthcare practitioner to be.
- 13:35I mean, so it's like, man, what are what are we doing about
- 13:39this? I mean, don't we want to make
- 13:40sure that these people of all people are alert and attuned
- 13:46where they're taking care of this?
- 13:47I mean, I'm like, we have really missed that and it makes no
- 13:51sense to me. So the fact that people like her
- 13:55are finally standing up and saying no, no, no, no, we're
- 13:58just not going to, you know, abandoned ourselves anymore to
- 14:02do this. It's just it's not good for us
- 14:04and it's not good for our patients.
- 14:06Nobody wins in this scenario. So yeah, I look what she brought
- 14:09up there. She's so good when when you
- 14:13approach Charlotte, when you see an episode the first time, talk
- 14:16to people about what your approach is as you go in and
- 14:20start thinking about because you've got to figure out what
- 14:24reels might be good and sound bites and messages because
- 14:28you're coming up with multiple messages from this.
- 14:32So talk to me about your approach when you walk into an
- 14:34episode. Yeah, so part of the thing that
- 14:38I love about doing our reels and our videos for our social media
- 14:42is that I really get to kind of dive into the episode and the
- 14:47parts that stop were resonating with me or inspiring me in some
- 14:51way. And so I just love, first of
- 14:54all, getting to listen to the episode through and kind of
- 14:57hearing those moments where I'm like, oh, that was really good.
- 15:01And when I note those things, I do something.
- 15:03So I edit in Premiere Pro and I do a flag.
- 15:07So anytime that I hear something that I like and I want to go
- 15:09back to, I just like hit the little M button and it marks a
- 15:12little flag of something that I want to go back and revisit.
- 15:16So that really helps me kind of limit out some of the main
- 15:20points that I think we're very engaging and that I think would
- 15:24be engaging to our audience as a whole.
- 15:26So I take those markers in the audio clip and in the video clip
- 15:31and then I kind of listen back to the ones that I picked out.
- 15:35I usually pick out about 5:00 or so per episode and I usually try
- 15:39to align it with our talking points.
- 15:41So I will often times read the blog that Jessica wrote.
- 15:44So it is a very collaborative effort and I'll kind of read
- 15:48through the talking points to get of the things that we're
- 15:52going to hear in the episodes. So that way when I'm listening
- 15:54back to it, I know what's focused on in the blog.
- 15:57And then that way when we do the social media promotions, it'll
- 15:59all tie together. And then once I do that, it's
- 16:03really about finding the one that's best to the time frame on
- 16:09social media. So some of the points are really
- 16:12great, but with TikTok with reels in the first few seconds.
- 16:20So I try to pick things that kind of dive right into the
- 16:23point, something that a lot of women would benefit from hearing
- 16:27and a lot of just our audience in general, like a really good
- 16:32piece of advice or a reminder or something that somebody needs to
- 16:36hear today. And once I kind of select those
- 16:39points, I cut them down. If there's some thing that's
- 16:43kind of repetitive, I cut certain parts out and kind of
- 16:46splice it together in a way that's concise and maintains
- 16:50attention for, you know, that short moment that you have to
- 16:53engage somebody. Yeah, yeah.
- 16:56And you've done research behind this too.
- 16:58Like you've gone in and I, I was like, go in and do some research
- 17:02and see. Cuz we were noticing that there
- 17:04were some shorts and reels that were really hitting and others
- 17:08were doing all right. But he's like, what is it about
- 17:11those ones that were really hitting?
- 17:13And you were able to do some research and find that we had a
- 17:15couple of talking points that seemed to get more attention
- 17:19than others. So Charlotte's work doesn't just
- 17:21go into this the, the not just, but it's beyond the scope of
- 17:26looking at the episode. She's also watching our social
- 17:28media for trends and what you all, as in listeners and
- 17:33followers are engaging with to make sure that she's pulling out
- 17:38in conjunction with what Jess is doing on the blog.
- 17:41Things are going to really resonate with you.
- 17:43And, and so I, I, I and I, there's a lot of time in it, but
- 17:48if there's a, you got to have an ear for it.
- 17:50And, and Charlotte has an ear for it.
- 17:52And what I appreciate so much about both of these two is they
- 17:56understand our mission. They came on board and were
- 18:00interested in this work because they understood and wanted to be
- 18:04part of this. And so they really, their heart
- 18:07is as invested in it as my heart is invested in it.
- 18:10And so they're feeling able to make those connect points.
- 18:13It's not just a job. It is something that is a, you
- 18:18know, for Charlotte, she gets to really use that film and editing
- 18:22side of her. That's really her creative side.
- 18:25She gets to tap into that here and that in conjunction with
- 18:28having a connection with the material.
- 18:30So I always like she'll pull something out like, oh, she
- 18:33nailed that one. Or I can't tell you how many
- 18:35times I listen to an episode and I'm like, gosh, I hope that's
- 18:39the one she pulled out and I will listen to it like, yes,
- 18:42it's the one she pulled out. Like so that's always fun to see
- 18:45too, as we're putting these all together when it comes to the
- 18:50quotes, Charlotte, what are you looking for?
- 18:52When you because there's many times for the second follow up
- 18:56post on an episode, you'll you'll grab a quote.
- 18:58What are you looking? For there, when I look for those
- 19:03kind of quotes for like the more graphic posts on social medias,
- 19:08I follow a lot of other accounts that I kind of gain inspiration
- 19:11from a lot of like daily dose of like inspiration accounts and
- 19:15daily reminder accounts or self-care quote accounts.
- 19:19And I get a lot of inspiration from there, kind of seeing what
- 19:24points hit for a lot of people and then within that finding
- 19:29those connect points within our content.
- 19:31So stopping like you can't pour from an empty cup, that would
- 19:36hit and resonate with a lot of people and that also can make
- 19:41for a cute graphic. So I try to think, is there
- 19:43something cute I can do? Like with Super, I put little
- 19:47race flags on the you need to stop and refuel quote.
- 19:51So thinking if there's like a cute little visual.
- 19:54Or like. A little chart that can go along
- 19:56with something that will help you kind of remember it and like
- 20:00remind yourself of that. And then something that would be
- 20:03eye-catching, I was full on social media because I do follow
- 20:06a lot of those kinds of self-care accounts and what kind
- 20:10of thing would I want to stop and bookmark or save on my
- 20:13account? So those are just things that I
- 20:16kind of look out for. And also, again, trying to align
- 20:20it with some of the things that were highlighted in the blog.
- 20:22Sometimes it will be something similar to like if it's just
- 20:25such a powerful quote and I used it in the real, sometimes I will
- 20:29overlap and put it as a graphic. You know, sometimes you're
- 20:33scrolling through TikTok and then sometimes you're on
- 20:35Instagram. And if that's not on the real
- 20:38cover, it doesn't say like, you know, self-care or whatever the
- 20:42talking print, you might not realize that that's in that
- 20:45video. Like you said again, like it's a
- 20:47very quick that video because you're scrolling pretty quick.
- 20:53You might be caught more by the graphics.
- 20:55So sometimes if it's like a point that we really want to
- 20:58drive home using that in both the reel that week and the
- 21:01graphic. But if there's just something
- 21:03else that I think would resonate better.
- 21:05For the graphic. Post then kind of changing it up
- 21:09and differentiating it across platforms so you know TikTok and
- 21:13reels will get this little nugget of insight and then
- 21:17Instagram and Facebook and LinkedIn will get this little
- 21:20quote graphic that's a little different from what was in the
- 21:23reel. So it all kind of is a week to
- 21:25week basis and what I think those kind of hard hitting
- 21:29points will be. Yeah.
- 21:32And you also that's the other thing you have to do too is each
- 21:35of those platforms is looking for a little different thing.
- 21:38So it's also you're figuring out, OK, what is going to feed
- 21:41this algorithm where, what is this platform going to respond
- 21:44to so that those that are following, it's going to get to
- 21:47them. So there's a whole kind of an
- 21:49art form to figuring that piece out to which you've been able to
- 21:53figure out over the years and be able to differential hurting.
- 21:56So that's a whole other piece and part of your your job.
- 21:58Talk about your work that you do on the website.
- 22:02Yeah. So now that we've branched out
- 22:04into so many different areas, it's been interesting to see
- 22:07kind of how that unfolds on the website we've launched in.
- 22:11Even just in the last year, we've done more episodes and
- 22:15blogs double the amount then we've done the book, we launched
- 22:20the online course. So just seeing all these new
- 22:23exciting projects and then finding a space for them on the
- 22:27website has been such a rewarding experience.
- 22:30Just, you know, it's again, that differentiation of content and
- 22:35kind of appealing to wider audiences.
- 22:38So, you know, some people would rather read a book, some people
- 22:41would rather listen to a podcast or read A blog post rather than
- 22:46a book or take a class. So all of those things really
- 22:50have their own audience. So I think it's great that we
- 22:53have a network that has such variety like that and that
- 22:58there's something for everybody. And I feel like our mission
- 23:01really does, you know, apply to a lot of people, but it's just
- 23:07like how to reach them. So just finding those ways on
- 23:10the website, what will grab them and what will make them be like,
- 23:13oh, that sounds like something I'd be interested in.
- 23:15So when we set up those pages, kind of making sure the mission
- 23:19statement or the like vision that we have for that project is
- 23:25displayed and that people kind of know what it's all about and
- 23:29what we're all about. Yeah, and, and the work that
- 23:33Charlotte's put into this, because the other thing, and
- 23:35I'll give Jess a chance to talk about this too.
- 23:36I've asked on my team to do is to really start taking a look at
- 23:40the SEO piece. And the SEO piece is something
- 23:43none of us knew anything about when we started this a few years
- 23:47ago. And we started hearing like, you
- 23:50got to figure that out so you can make sure that your, your
- 23:53information and your content is reaching, you know, a broader
- 23:57audience. And so I on top of all the other
- 23:59new things I add and I'm like, OK, we've got to do this too.
- 24:02And so it's been fun to watch because our, our website is now
- 24:08ranking on Google. And I mean, I'm now getting, you
- 24:11know, every month I get an update at the end of the month
- 24:14on how many times people searched for us on Google.
- 24:18And that wasn't happening a year ago.
- 24:21And so just the work, that intentional work that
- 24:23Charlotte's been able to put in to there as she presents all
- 24:27these new things and creates pages in a way that people are
- 24:30going to find them in the continuity.
- 24:32And again, that algorithm that you got to feed a huge shout out
- 24:36to the work that she continues to do on that as all as our
- 24:39platforms continue to grow, as we continue to look at platforms
- 24:43to make sure that we still fit there.
- 24:45I mean, you know, and we're so being conscious of that, too.
- 24:49So, so much good stuff there. All right, Jessica, your turn.
- 24:54Talk to people about where when you go into an episode, what
- 24:59it's like for you, what you're looking.
- 25:01For yeah, so when I first start with an episode, I will listen
- 25:07to it either the raw version. Usually I start with the raw
- 25:10version on Stream Yard or Zencast or wherever we have it.
- 25:15And I always take notes, like I make bullet points of each
- 25:19talking point and write down like the things that stick out
- 25:22the most to me. And you know, no matter what,
- 25:25like even in the beginning, I'm like, I'm probably going to
- 25:27write about this in the blog post.
- 25:29It's like I got to get all the way through because there's so
- 25:32much good stuff. Sometimes I end up incorporating
- 25:34like the first thing they talk about with the last thing
- 25:37because it all like it'll come back around together.
- 25:41And then just making sure that like listening also to the
- 25:45edited version after Rio has finished it, just to make sure
- 25:49we're like on the same page with if sometimes people want things
- 25:52like cut out or sometimes there's an edit made that just
- 25:56because they said, you know, I talked about this, but I really
- 25:59don't want to share it like whatever it could be.
- 26:02But mostly for looking at where to start with the blogs, I just
- 26:10kind of read them briefly through the list and I'm like,
- 26:12what really like stuck out to me the most or what was this person
- 26:16really passionate about or what was different with this?
- 26:19What quote did I like underline 3 times and put a star next to?
- 26:23And I'm like, we need to make sure this gets out there in the
- 26:25world, like no matter what it is.
- 26:27And then I kind of start from there and somehow end up getting
- 26:32like this big hole ball and like paragraph of run on sentences
- 26:36and I need to go back and edit. But it's like I just have all
- 26:39this stuff I want to get out and want to say.
- 26:41And then we kind of have to like reel it in just a little bit.
- 26:44Like people don't always have the time to sit and read like A5
- 26:46page thing. So then it kind of cut it down.
- 26:50Where you also said about Charlotte picks out such good
- 26:52quotes, Like if there's a piece that I didn't include just
- 26:55because it didn't it wasn't in the theme or like whatever I was
- 26:58going for in the blog. Like she always grabs like such
- 27:01good quotes and like clips that. But like, yes, this needs to go
- 27:07out there too that we don't always have time for written
- 27:09wise in the ways to engage. It doesn't always necessarily
- 27:15have to do with the blog. Sometimes I think about advice
- 27:19that maybe they give in the episode.
- 27:21Like they say, this is what I try to do for myself.
- 27:24Like the Anna Prizy one that I remember was like, write down
- 27:29things you do for yourself and versus what you do for other
- 27:31people. And it's like, OK, that's a
- 27:33great way ways to engage that she does that she says has
- 27:37really helped her. And I think that that's
- 27:38something other people could try.
- 27:40So we're always trying to get, like, different ideas going.
- 27:43Yeah. And yeah, that's my process.
- 27:47Well, and I think too, I want to give a shout out to you because
- 27:50I, I challenged you about a year and a half ago.
- 27:54I'm like, OK, let's make this like one page.
- 27:57Just give them a hint because it's really hard to go in and
- 28:02not tell the whole story because there's so much good information
- 28:07coming from our guests. And so I was like, OK, let's
- 28:13let's not give too much away in the blog so they don't feel like
- 28:16they have to listen to the episode.
- 28:18And so I really challenged her to like squeeze it down and
- 28:21really find those highlights and find those points that stuck out
- 28:24to you. And you don't have to hit on
- 28:27every talking point. Just just find and then those
- 28:30and you nail the ways to engage like I used to like offer my
- 28:33help. She doesn't need my help on.
- 28:35I'm like, you don't need my help on this.
- 28:37Yeah. I mean, and I also like having
- 28:40both of your lenses on things. I mean, that's one of the great
- 28:44things about being able to trust you with this is you will see
- 28:47and hear things that I won't see and hear.
- 28:49And especially with me doing the conversations and then listening
- 28:53back to, I mean, I probably listened to these conversations
- 28:555 or 6 times, you know, before they finally have gone out in
- 28:59the world. And so it's good to get fresh
- 29:01sets of ears from all three of you on what you hear, what
- 29:06sticks out to you because you're in different stages of life than
- 29:09I am you. You're in different stages of
- 29:12life, even though you're similar in age to each other, you live
- 29:15in different states. You have different experiences.
- 29:18So being able for you all to have your eyes on it and all
- 29:21full of, you know, different lenses according to what's
- 29:24resonating with you gives a broader experience to our
- 29:27audience too, which I love. But you just grasp that and
- 29:31she's, she's like, all right, I'll do it.
- 29:32And she nailed it. I mean, now it's just like, I
- 29:34don't even, I don't even feel like I do read the blogs because
- 29:38I need to know what's in them because I, it's important to me
- 29:42that we all know what's going out there.
- 29:44But I'm not like, I don't make many edits these days.
- 29:47I might have an idea here and there or maybe a guest has given
- 29:51me some feedback on something, but it's, you know, I don't have
- 29:54to like, you know, these guys are so they're got their nail
- 29:58their, their finger on so well and on our audience, on our
- 30:02listeners and on our content that it's really fun just to see
- 30:06what you all create. It's really, I just look forward
- 30:09to reading how you experienced that.
- 30:12I think that's the most fun for me.
- 30:13That the other thing I've asked Jess to do since she writes the
- 30:16blog, we use that blog to help us form our messaging that goes
- 30:20out in terms of our SEO messaging as we promote it
- 30:24across our show notes on our platforms and our social media
- 30:27platforms. And so Jess has taken taken the
- 30:30lead on that and setting that precedent out there too.
- 30:34That's another level. Another thing I have you do is
- 30:36newsletters. Talk to me about your newsletter
- 30:39process because Jess is really good at sometimes I come up with
- 30:42topics for her and other times she finds them.
- 30:45She'll look at monthly themes that are have.
- 30:48She'll look at themes that are episode.
- 30:50She'll look at things that we have coming up or that we just
- 30:52had happen. So talk to me about your
- 30:54newsletter process. Yeah, well, we have our clip
- 30:59click up calendar that has like, you know, holidays or like
- 31:06obviously scheduling things. But then I can kind of see like,
- 31:09Oh yeah, these two guests are in the same month and this is like
- 31:14mental health awareness month. And that goes really good as a
- 31:17theme together. And we can put that on one page
- 31:19and put resources and things like that.
- 31:22So I just try to pay attention to what is like currently
- 31:26happening and what is coming up soon.
- 31:28Because we also have all these things going on that if people
- 31:32maybe like aren't subscribed to our sub stack, they'll see it on
- 31:35the newsletter, on Instagram or something else.
- 31:38And that'll say like, you know, for example, we were talking
- 31:40about our book club. We did the live last night and I
- 31:43put that on the newsletter like if you want more information,
- 31:46this is where you can find it. And I always send the newsletter
- 31:51to everybody like Charlotte and Rio because you guys are like
- 31:53the big design people like the everything looks so nice
- 31:57aesthetically. So I'm like, will you guys
- 31:58please just double check it? Make sure and everyone's always
- 32:02so nice and checks for me and make sure everything looks good.
- 32:05But I'm always like, I hope this looks OK.
- 32:09I have a lot of fun genuinely doing it.
- 32:11Like I normally will put make all the bubbles and pictures and
- 32:15everything And then I'm like, all right, now I got to figure
- 32:17out how I'm fitting this in here and what page is this for?
- 32:20But I mean, I I really enjoy making them and kind of putting
- 32:24the puzzle together for that. Yeah, yeah, you do such a great
- 32:28job with that. And what I like about the
- 32:29newsletters too is because we have all these different
- 32:32platforms. We have our social media
- 32:34platforms, we have our website, we have our podcasts, our
- 32:39YouTube, our sub stack. There's and so it's a place you
- 32:42can go and kind of like, oh, OK, that's where we connect all
- 32:46these dots. That's where we can find that.
- 32:47So if it's something you're interested in that you're not
- 32:50already following that or subscribe to that, you can jump
- 32:53on. And the newsletter does a great
- 32:54job of bringing that together. You are the author of our book.
- 32:58I could not have done this book without you.
- 33:01And and so talk to me about what it's been like for you.
- 33:05You have been an author for almost a year now, but
- 33:08officially the book went. So talk to me about what that
- 33:10feels like. Well, same to you I.
- 33:14Could not have done it without you.
- 33:15So I appreciate and Charlotte and Rio and Valencia and
- 33:20Michaela and everybody who's been on our team, Abby, all
- 33:22these wonderful people. It's been so exciting, like to
- 33:28be able to say like I did that, like that's great.
- 33:31Something I've always wanted to do and if you like shortly
- 33:34shortly after the book came out, people were like, well, when are
- 33:36you going to write the next one? When's the next one coming out?
- 33:39And I'm like, I just want to like it just came out guys.
- 33:42I just want to live in this and enjoy it.
- 33:44Like it just came out. I'm not like rushing to go do
- 33:47something else like let's just enjoy this time this like grace
- 33:50period because so much time, effort, energy, hard work went
- 33:55into this. So I just want to see how it is.
- 33:59But to like when we had like that first tangible like hard
- 34:03copy that I got to hold, I was like, this is like a moment I
- 34:07did not think would come for like so many more years.
- 34:11Like I'm the fact that I'm writing about things that I'm
- 34:14feel very passionate about. Like, that's just like the
- 34:17cherry on top of it all. Yeah, my favorite thing about
- 34:21the book is that you really get to hear Jeff's voice in it.
- 34:25Yes, we did it together. Yes, I was the content editor.
- 34:30Yes, these are people that I talked to in episodes.
- 34:32All that is true. But Jess brings her experience
- 34:35into that. She brings her examples.
- 34:38Her voice really speaks throughout it.
- 34:40And I love that because it's, again, it's another
- 34:42representation of multi generational voices, multi
- 34:46generational experiences. So that no matter who you are or
- 34:50what phase of life you're in, there's something in there for
- 34:53you that you can connect with. And it's where we discovered our
- 34:56ways to engage, you know, that if without the book, I'm not
- 34:59sure, maybe we would have come up with that eventually.
- 35:02I, you know, I don't know, but that that really introduced that
- 35:06way for our followers and listeners to engage with our
- 35:10content is having those ways to engage where you can jump in and
- 35:13really dive in to each of the talking points personally and
- 35:16apply them to your life personally and have that way to
- 35:20do that. So, so that was really the birth
- 35:22place of that. And I feel like that really
- 35:24opened up a whole other area for you to tap into in your writing.
- 35:29And just so you all know, I've told just multiple times, keep
- 35:33taking notes, keep being ready. At some point we'll do another
- 35:38volume of this because, you know, we, that was the first
- 35:41Four Seasons. Well, we're wrapping up season 8
- 35:43now. So there's a lot more guest
- 35:45wisdom that we have to tap into and share.
- 35:48But we want to give this thing a time to breathe.
- 35:51Not to mention it's a process to do a book.
- 35:53It was a year and a half, a very committed work to get this first
- 35:58one out. And I want it to have the time
- 36:01to breathe and get out there and also us to have the time to
- 36:04really settle into to all that we have created before we just
- 36:09jump into that next one. But I know what you mean.
- 36:10People always want to know what that next thing is.
- 36:13I'm like, let's just be present in what we have now.
- 36:17Let's just about that with you guys.
- 36:20Yeah, yeah. Let's just be like, let's this
- 36:23was a process. Let's just settle into it and be
- 36:26present and make sure people know about this.
- 36:28And yes, there will be a time for that next volume, but just
- 36:32know that just behind the scenes as she's doing these things and
- 36:36I'll have her talk about all of her sub sack and book club
- 36:38responsibilities in a minute, is consistently keeping those notes
- 36:41as we start thinking about down the line whenever we decide to
- 36:45do volume two of our book. So that's always that's always
- 36:50trickling in the background. But Speaking of books, talk to
- 36:53me about the sub stack lives, the sub stack period.
- 36:56That's a place where I I I ended.
- 36:58I really have told you take possession of this.
- 37:01This is your yours to operate at.
- 37:03If we started doing lives, I think sub stack having a lives
- 37:07option really opens things up for us.
- 37:09I mean, into a whole other way. And now we've got this book club
- 37:14that's coming from there. We have you did the live
- 37:16yesterday to. Introduce the the calendar for
- 37:20that so top view everybody that's listening a little bit of
- 37:23an update and, and explain all that you engage with on there.
- 37:29Yeah so the sub stack it's at the field podcast.
- 37:32Our sub stack is basically where you can find our content like
- 37:36the blogs get uploaded there the day before the episode drops.
- 37:39So you can read the episode, kind of get a feel for what it's
- 37:43going to be like. And then always in the
- 37:44description, I'll put like a link where you can listen to the
- 37:48episode. That's also where I put the
- 37:50newsletters. The radio show is archived on
- 37:53sub stack. The lives are archived on Sub
- 37:56stack. And that's where we're going to
- 37:58be having our book club and the book club we thought of because
- 38:02we were having all these authors in our network.
- 38:04We have all these author friends and we're always talking about
- 38:07writing and how we all love to read and we want people to be
- 38:11having deeper discussions about our book.
- 38:13We want them to reach new audiences.
- 38:15So we all just want to support each other that way.
- 38:18And like a lot of great women have committed to our book club,
- 38:22which we're so excited about. A few of them were on the sub
- 38:25SEC live, and a couple of them are ones that like we didn't get
- 38:27to have yet, but they were really supportive in there for
- 38:31us when our book came out. So we want to offer them an
- 38:34opportunity to explore their book.
- 38:37And September 19th is a Wednesday.
- 38:39That's when we're having our first book club with embracing
- 38:42layers unapologetically. We're going to start with ours,
- 38:45of course, to kind of get a, a feel for a feel for everything.
- 38:50And we did do a book club before we did with our Patreon people
- 38:56who pre-ordered the book, they, we offered them an opportunity
- 38:59to do book club and we went through a chapter or two
- 39:02chapters like every week. And it was a great time.
- 39:06Like we didn't have like a lot of people there, but the
- 39:09discussions that we had I thought were so, so important
- 39:12and able to connect with new people and talk to new people.
- 39:17And I'm excited to be able to do this with our other authors
- 39:20because there's not many book clubs.
- 39:22I said this last night on the live, not many book clubs.
- 39:25You have the author right there to answer your questions and to
- 39:27discuss the book with you. So I think that part is so
- 39:30exciting that it's like we're going to have to be reading
- 39:33their book and be like, wow, you broke this, published it.
- 39:36Talk to us about behind the scenes.
- 39:37Talk to us about what you learned writing this.
- 39:40Talk to us about how you healed after writing this.
- 39:43Like whatever it could be. We have like such an array of
- 39:47books to to choose from. So that's coming up quick, but
- 39:51I'm really looking forward to it.
- 39:53Yeah. So that sounds interesting to
- 39:55you. And we've got so Who source.
- 39:57Tell them some of the authors. And putting you on the spot here
- 40:01because I didn't tell you this before.
- 40:02So just best you can, some of the authors in books besides
- 40:06ours, there's going to be after art, we finish ours, then we go
- 40:10right into the next book with another author where who are
- 40:13some of the people that are going to be participating in
- 40:16this book club besides us? So our Fred Kim Mosman with
- 40:21reflections of joy. If you go to our sub SEC and
- 40:25look at the live from last night, I put in the description
- 40:29where you can like find these books and watch their lives to
- 40:32see them talk about it. But we have Kim Mosman with
- 40:35reflections of joy, Doctor Doreen McCauley and Dr. Dido
- 40:40Wells. We have their book.
- 40:42Our invisible work, like in is in their visible work because
- 40:46it's like a play on words there. We have theirs as well as
- 40:49Dana's. She has a trilogy, but we're
- 40:52starting with the first one, Gasping for Air, and that's like
- 40:56a memoir from her. So those are three that we have
- 40:59pinned down at the moment. We also have books featuring
- 41:04themes of immigration, menopause, all kind poetry, all
- 41:09kinds of different things. So there's definitely variety in
- 41:12there for people. Yeah, there's a variety of
- 41:16topics, a variety of books, fiction and non fiction.
- 41:20And I think such a great, I mean, what Jess said, I mean
- 41:23this, we're offering you a goal opportunity to have a book club
- 41:27with the author. I mean, that is just almost
- 41:30unheard of. So you get to hear it from right
- 41:33from the source and also a chance to learn maybe about some
- 41:37topics that you wouldn't have had a chance to otherwise or
- 41:40wouldn't have thought of on your own.
- 41:42And what a great opportunity to learn and become more curious
- 41:46and know how to show up even more so for different women and
- 41:50different stories and experiences.
- 41:52Maybe you know some people that are having these experiences and
- 41:56now you've got another resource for them.
- 41:57Or maybe you don't know they're going through it and one day you
- 42:00find out there they are and you've read this book or learned
- 42:03from this author. So there's just so many
- 42:05opportunities. So I always tell people, don't
- 42:09look at the books and decide if you are going to do it based on
- 42:14the books, look at the women and look at the opportunity to grow
- 42:18and learn and have that and be in a community and hear from the
- 42:23authors and learn something maybe you wouldn't have had a
- 42:26chance to otherwise and have that be your deciding factor on
- 42:30whether you're joined. So my challenge on that.
- 42:32So, yeah. So Jess has got a lot going on
- 42:35right now too. And mind you, both of these
- 42:38women have other jobs. This is that's not the only
- 42:42thing they're doing. So they both have other work
- 42:45that they do. If I could hit the lottery and
- 42:49pay them full time, I would do that in a nanosecond.
- 42:53That hasn't happened yet, maybe someday.
- 42:55So they're doing this while working other very full time
- 43:00jobs. So I appreciate them even more
- 43:04for that. Like I said, I I wouldn't be
- 43:08able to do what I do without the two of you.
- 43:11Before we wrap up today, Charlotte, what is a take away
- 43:17in your time that you've had here that you'd like to share so
- 43:21far with the audience? And it is time that we've been
- 43:24together for, gosh, almost if 2 1/2 almost three years now.
- 43:28What is? What is something that really
- 43:30stands out to you? So one thing that I really has
- 43:35always stood out with me is it's kind of on the nose, but
- 43:38embracing layers, all of the things that make us who we are
- 43:42and not kind of letting one layer define who we are.
- 43:45So like you said, we work more than one job.
- 43:48We have a lot of different interests.
- 43:50There's so many different things that make us who we are beyond
- 43:53just one identity. For example, I'm a teacher is my
- 43:56other kind of that's my full time job outside of doing social
- 44:00media work. And I'm lucky enough that I get
- 44:03out of school early enough to be able to do this too, because
- 44:06this was something that, you know, I went to school, I loved
- 44:09film, I always loved social media.
- 44:11I spend a lot of time on social media.
- 44:13So kind of combining the things that I love, the education
- 44:17aspect and the making and like the more creative digital
- 44:22production side of things, I just think has been just in my
- 44:26work life alone, embracing those two kinds of sides of me that
- 44:30make me who I am. And then in addition, I'm a
- 44:33twin. So, you know, embracing all the
- 44:36things that come along with that and all the different things
- 44:39that I like to do. I like to collect antiques, but
- 44:42I also like to go to concerts. And I like, there's not really a
- 44:46rhyme or reason for all of the things that make me who I am.
- 44:49But that's what's so great about hearing all the women and all
- 44:52the people that we have on the podcast is a lot of them have
- 44:55these interests or things that you wouldn't know about or these
- 44:59kind of other sides of themselves.
- 45:01A lot of the time in the episodes that we heard about
- 45:04where you know it, like the episode with the nurses or
- 45:08episodes about mothers, a lot of the times we kind of get
- 45:11streamlined into one piece of our identity that does not at
- 45:15all define who we are or could not possibly quantify all of
- 45:21those things that make us so unique.
- 45:23So just listening back to a lot of those episodes really
- 45:26resonated with me because because I feel like a lot of
- 45:29people kind of expect you to like pick one thing, and that's
- 45:33so far from how this all works. So I think that's been something
- 45:37that has resonated with me from the beginning and that I've just
- 45:41come to realize kind of in the more people I meet, the more
- 45:45people I hear from on the podcast, and the more things
- 45:47that I kind of take on in my own life.
- 45:50Yeah, yeah. I looked at the fact you talked
- 45:54about the nuance and your different interests because it,
- 45:57you know, it's just that there's so many pieces and parts to us
- 46:01and it's why I introduce guests by their character traits.
- 46:05It's why it's one of the first things I do when I'm working now
- 46:08with women one-on-one or speaking to them.
- 46:10As we talk about the layers, we talk about getting familiar with
- 46:14the layers, acknowledging the layers, accepting the layer, and
- 46:19then identifying who they are, knowing that these layers ebb
- 46:23and flow through time and our titles and roles have been
- 46:26flowed through time. And so for you all to be able to
- 46:29have a handle on that at the season of life you're in and not
- 46:33have figured that out 10/15/20 years from now, I think is such
- 46:38a gift too, that you have that understanding already.
- 46:42I think it's going to serve you so well.
- 46:44Thank you so much for that, so good.
- 46:45Jessica, how about you? Yeah, I feel like we've like,
- 46:52over the years, learned so much and have grown so much and we
- 46:55have such a community behind us. Like, it's incredible all the
- 47:00people we've met and how, like, I'll follow them on Instagram
- 47:04and see all this great work they're continuing to do, like
- 47:06outside of the show. And I'm like, I would have never
- 47:08known about this person. I would have never known about
- 47:10this organization or anything like that if we haven't had them
- 47:14on the show. And.
- 47:16There will be times like, you know, a quote sticks with me or
- 47:20an example and when I'm talking to someone and I'm like, well,
- 47:24hey, have you ever thought to do this or have you ever tried
- 47:27this? And I take things from the show
- 47:29that other people have said and done and they're like, oh,
- 47:31that's a great idea. I'm like, oh, wow, we have a
- 47:33podcast episode and that's where I got it from.
- 47:36So we have a lot of great wisdom coming from that.
- 47:41And to be able to like write 2 blogs every week.
- 47:45Like I went from doing like one blog a month to now I get to do
- 47:482 a week. And I just love to write.
- 47:51So being able to be given that opportunity to like continue to
- 47:54get better. And you always offer like
- 47:57everyone does. But especially you always offer
- 48:00like, you know, good criticism, constructive feedback, like
- 48:04praise everything like to help us grow and learn in like a
- 48:08professional environment, which is also such a great experience
- 48:12we've been able to have. But I'm also just like so proud
- 48:16of our network and to say like, this is what I do and everyone's
- 48:19like, that sounds like you. I'm like, yes, it's great work
- 48:22we're trying to do here. And, you know, we get to talk to
- 48:25so many people who are doing great work out there.
- 48:27So, you know, sometimes the world feels very dark and
- 48:32shadowy and like no one else cares about anybody else.
- 48:35But then I, like, get reminded there's a lot of empathetic,
- 48:39good people out there who are trying their best to make the
- 48:42world a better place. So, you know, it's very
- 48:45inspiring and kind of wakes me up a little bit sometimes when I
- 48:48start to get like those cynical. Thoughts.
- 48:53Yeah, yeah, I hear you. I think that this work is what
- 48:58helps me keep my hope. I mean, you know, I'll give
- 49:02today as an example. I got to have the most diverse
- 49:05and I do pre meets with all of our guests before they come on
- 49:08our platforms to make sure to get to know them a little bit
- 49:12more, see if they have questions, make sure it's a good
- 49:14fit, all those kinds of things. I had conversations with women
- 49:17all over the world. I had a conversation with a
- 49:20woman from Belgrade, Serbia. I got to learn about how Serbia.
- 49:26This is fairly new in Serbia in the last few years where they
- 49:30offer women once they're pregnant, paid time off during
- 49:36their pregnancy and all the way through the first year after the
- 49:40baby is born. Mind blowing did not know that
- 49:43exists one of the most like I've talked to women in many many
- 49:47countries that's the most progressive country I've heard
- 49:50in that it's purely like she said it's just in the last few
- 49:53years it's become this, but that's something I never knew
- 49:56before I would never know known if I hadn't talked to this woman
- 50:00from Belgrade, Serbia about her story.
- 50:03And so, you know, the Internet and all these opportunities, I
- 50:06and then I connected with another woman who's she and I's
- 50:10vision is very similar. She's doing things, but in her
- 50:13own way, in her own lane. The way she approaches it is a
- 50:17little more one-on-one, not as much the broader reach that we
- 50:21have. So it had an opportunity.
- 50:23So having an opportunity to share her voice and what she
- 50:26offers on our platform and being able to meet someone you've
- 50:29never met before and just be In Sync with them and get excited
- 50:33when you hear them believing and trying to help women in the
- 50:37similar areas that you're trying to do it.
- 50:40Knowing like there's so many of us out here trying to do this.
- 50:43And it's, it just gives me so much hope, you know, and it
- 50:47keeps me, really keeps me believing that if we could just
- 50:51come together and, and really focus on living out of our
- 50:57values and knowing what they are and embracing our layers and
- 51:00investing in ourselves first, then we could cooperate from a
- 51:05healthy place where then we could show up in the world in
- 51:08such a healthier way. And if we can just do that one
- 51:11person at a time, we really can shift narratives.
- 51:14And when we come together as women to not only support
- 51:17ourselves, but each other in doing that, we really can shift
- 51:20narratives. And there's a, you know, I've
- 51:22talked to hundreds of women now in which is wild to think about.
- 51:27And Jessica mentioned our network.
- 51:28We have this incredible network that I, I think I underestimate,
- 51:33I, I didn't understand. I think it's the best way to put
- 51:36it. When we started doing this, I
- 51:37expected our listeners to be our network.
- 51:40And that certainly is the case. That is certainly a part of that
- 51:44that exists. But the network that real like
- 51:48foundation has been the women that have come on as guests and
- 51:51then have continued to come on as panelists that have continued
- 51:55to be advisors and participants and supporters of mine and of
- 52:00our work. That I can take something to
- 52:03like our online course and have 5 women with me be a beta group
- 52:08and give me feedback and support and create a workbook for.
- 52:13I mean, all these things that we do in collaboration with each
- 52:16other to support each other to having these conversations and
- 52:20uplifting each other. And just, I'll get these random
- 52:22messages from them, just shout outs of support that I would
- 52:27have never known about five years ago.
- 52:30And to think that I would not know the women I know now.
- 52:34I can't imagine my life without these people in it now.
- 52:38And so, yeah, I think it's just such a gift that we've been
- 52:43given that and that was a part of the gift that I didn't fully
- 52:46comprehend or understand. It's one of the biggest,
- 52:50greatest things that I'm grateful for every single day.
- 52:55So yeah, I think that's. And the people, yeah, just the
- 52:57people and things that we know about and learn about.
- 52:59When it got off with the woman, I, I before that, I talked to a
- 53:02woman who has an absolutely fascinating story.
- 53:05She's a former NFL wife and she talks about identity and, and
- 53:11losing your identity and all the different spaces and places that
- 53:15you go through when you when you go through that.
- 53:17And we ended up having some similarities in her background
- 53:20that I didn't see coming. And so having these, you know,
- 53:23that's how I started my day was with these conversations.
- 53:26And it's like, that's a great way to start your day.
- 53:29And I get to, you know, and this gets to be part of my work.
- 53:32So that's just a small snippet. So, yeah, I think that what
- 53:35we've been able to experience and see and learn from, it helps
- 53:40us to be like, no, no, there's people out there every day and
- 53:45they and, and they're trying and, and we had did an episode
- 53:47on the panel a couple weeks ago of you make a difference from
- 53:51where you sit. And that's exactly what these
- 53:53women are doing is there's a way.
- 53:55And go check that panel out. It's a great panel.
- 53:58There's three of us on the panel.
- 53:59Summer's been a little wild. Everybody's been out doing their
- 54:02thing. So our panels have been a little
- 54:03smaller, but not any less mighty really good, you know, voices
- 54:08and system and insights there. But remembering as we talked to
- 54:12these women and hear from mostly when we heard some some guys
- 54:16every once in a while. We had a really great episode
- 54:18with Logan Hefford this season. I am I'm looking back at our
- 54:20last few seasons. We tend to average a guy a
- 54:22season these days because there's just some topics that
- 54:26transcend, you know, gender that just need to be talked about as
- 54:30a collective and as a whole. But But yeah, just we're just so
- 54:33grateful. Well, I'm so grateful for the
- 54:35two of you. Grateful to Rio as well.
- 54:38Another note about Rio is that the song that you hear on our
- 54:43podcast that opens and closes our podcast, Rio and his sister
- 54:47Valencia San Luis, who, If you follow our platform, Valencia,
- 54:52put me in the hot seat last month on our anniversary episode
- 54:55and asked me the talking points. So if you're curious about what
- 55:00I had to say about the talking points, go back and check out
- 55:03that episode. It was on in July, but Valencia
- 55:05Co founded this with me and her, her and Abby Kell Bikel and I
- 55:10back in July of 2021. Well, Rio, our editor is
- 55:13Valencia's brother. And so he slid right in and it's
- 55:17been with us for gosh, it'll be or coming upon Gosh, we're
- 55:24coming up on four year. I'm it's been 3 1/2 years.
- 55:28You guys have been with me, not two and a half, 3 1/2 years with
- 55:30you, 2 and 2 1/2 years with Rio. Wow, I'm losing count here.
- 55:34I, I slighted you guys a year. It's been even longer than I
- 55:37thought, but Rio and Valencia wrote that song and it's them
- 55:42and recorded it together. So not only did they.
- 55:45So that just gives you the idea of the level of creativity that
- 55:49exists on my team that I'm so fortunate to have around me.
- 55:53So yeah, they create. I asked them a few years ago to
- 55:56create original song for us, and they did.
- 55:59They did because we were running into issues having music that we
- 56:04weren't going to get in trouble from Spotify for having as our
- 56:08music. Every time it was OK, something
- 56:10changed. We have to move it.
- 56:11I'm like, you know what? We just need our own original
- 56:13song. And I knew Valencia could sing.
- 56:15I've known Valencia for a long time.
- 56:17So I knew she had a dinner and the Rio was Rio has all kinds of
- 56:21surprises up his sleeve. He, Rio, was with us for a year
- 56:23and a half before I realized he was a graphic designer.
- 56:26So so then I put him to work on that.
- 56:30So I think he's maybe afraid to tell me some of the things he
- 56:32does because he's afraid I'm going to give him more jobs to
- 56:35do what? But yeah.
- 56:38So shout out to them. So that song is an original song
- 56:41from our very own team that was written and created and recorded
- 56:43by them. So very gifted people on this
- 56:46team. Thank you both of you for
- 56:48joining me today for sharing your background and story and,
- 56:53and what you do here. I think it's fairly beneficial
- 56:57for everybody to know that and get to, for you guys to get
- 57:00highlighted because again, they get to see my mug a lot.
- 57:03They don't always get to hear from from you all.
- 57:06So I I'm thankful for you all for joining me today and for all
- 57:09you do for our platform. Yes, thank you for having us.
- 57:16No, it's nice to be on this side of the podcast again.
- 57:20Feel like it's been a little bit since like our kind of episodes
- 57:23that we did with you because those won't be much soon after
- 57:27we joined. And now like you said, I looked
- 57:30at everything with the pandemic clock.
- 57:32I'm like, Oh yeah, ever since the pandemic.
- 57:34And I at one point that was one year.
- 57:36So I was using that as my one year clock.
- 57:38And now I'm like, it's going on. That's startling because it'll
- 57:42be 6 years. Now in March, but.
- 57:45My clock in that way and the pandemic clock is crazy.
- 57:50I know, I know it really is true.
- 57:53And especially with you all being in college during that
- 57:55time too, I think that added a whole other layer of like
- 57:59navigating college during I had daughters navigating college
- 58:01during the pandemic. So that old whole other layer of
- 58:05of that being your clock. But yeah, I know time flies when
- 58:07we're having fun. All right, Well, listeners,
- 58:10thank you for joining us today. Thank you for taking some time
- 58:12to get to know my wonderful team and learn a lot a little bit
- 58:15more about their process and what they're learning and what
- 58:18they contribute here. Let us know what you'd like to
- 58:21hear if you if there's something you haven't heard from us and we
- 58:24won't go as long. I I was thinking about that too.
- 58:26Charlotte. We had a period of time where we
- 58:28did quite a few, you know, team together once and then we just
- 58:32we had so many guest opportunities that I've gotten
- 58:36away from that. I'm like, I need to get the
- 58:38intentional each season about bringing the team on to talk,
- 58:43bringing myself on solo and and not losing sight of that because
- 58:47that's important for our listeners to hear from too.
- 58:49So thank you both for joining me today.
- 58:52Thank you for all you do Thank you to our listeners.
- 58:54Thanks for joining us. If this is your first time
- 58:57listening, go back and check out these episodes.
- 59:00Heck, start from season 1. We have 170 ish episodes out
- 59:07there now. I might be I'm big or take on
- 59:09that number and that is and more than 170 women because sometimes
- 59:14we have multiple people on there.
- 59:16So maybe closer to 200 voices that you can hear from their
- 59:23stories, their resources. Just such a great opportunity to
- 59:27learn and grow for yourself and, and, and also informing about
- 59:32other people's stories and how you can show it for them.
- 59:34So take the time to go do that. Thanks for joining us today.
- 59:38We'll be back in a couple of weeks at Season 9.
