- 1:13Perez Hilton's family after Perez went live on TikTok a few days ago of him
- 1:20literally hurting himself with a knife,
- 1:24insert theme song here this is the Daily Starcast.
- 1:27I give you the news and maybe a laugh.
- 1:29I'm Lindsay Vernick and today is August 6, 2026.
- 1:33Do you guys like remember PerezHilton.com? I used to be obsessed with it.
- 1:37I think it was back in like the mid 2000s. You would go on that website and
- 1:42you would list like all the celebrity gossip.
- 1:46I live for that website. And he's literally crazy. That's crazy.
- 1:52Also, I'm sorry if I'm being annoying about this, but time is ticking.
- 1:58And if you want to sign up for the Daily Starcast residency,
- 2:02please do so as soon as possible because spots are filling up really fast. Wink, wink.
- 2:10In real news, if you've looked at concert ticket prices lately and thought,
- 2:14hell no, you're definitely not alone there.
- 2:17After years of people complaining about outrageous prices, artists like Coldplay,
- 2:22Olivia Rodrigo, and Charlie XCX are offering a limited number of $20 tickets for select shows.
- 2:30The catch is that you're not going to know where you're sitting until the day
- 2:33of the concert and usually when you get there, so it's also going to be a lot
- 2:37harder for scalpers to snatch them up and resell them for five times the price.
- 2:42Average concert ticket prices climb from around $84 in 2013 to more than $130
- 2:48last year, with some major tours charging hundreds, sometimes even thousands,
- 2:53i.e. Taylor Swift, for literally a single seat.
- 2:57Not every artist is doing this $20 thing, and the discounted tickets are very
- 3:02limited too, but it's a sign that musicians are realizing that fans can't just
- 3:07keep spending half their paycheck just to sing along to their music for two hours.
- 3:12So whether it's an act of goodwill or people really have finally hit their spending
- 3:15limit, one thing's for sure.
- 3:17The days of casually deciding to go to a concert have been replaced by budgeting and payment plans.
- 3:23And also, if we're bringing back $20 concert tickets, can we also bring back
- 3:27concert drinks that don't require financing too?
- 3:31But baby sips, I guess.
- 3:33Bad news for anyone who thought that the eggs were the safe,
- 3:36boring option this week.
- 3:38Now, they're not again. More than 2 million eggs have been recalled after a
- 3:43salmonella outbreak linked to eggs produced by Midwest Poultry Services at a farm in Texas.
- 3:49These eggs were sold across Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi,
- 3:54New Mexico, and Oklahoma under brands including Kroger, Simple Truth,
- 3:58Country Morning, Brookshires, and Cal Maine Sun Ups.
- 4:01So basically, if you're in the South, check your eggs.
- 4:05And these eggs were produced between June 6th and July 3rd.
- 4:09So also, if you did recently buy eggs, maybe take a quick look before you make your morning omelet.
- 4:15That wouldn't be a great way to start the day, would it?
- 4:19Grocery shopping has really become a trust exercise. First, all of the prices went up.
- 4:24And then we had shrinkflation, where your cereal box got smaller,
- 4:27but the price got bigger.
- 4:29And now eggs are just ruining our lives all over again.
- 4:33RFK Jr. wants you to eat healthier. But first, he wants you to know that his
- 4:37own stomach has the durability of a tank.
- 4:41Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. this week discussed
- 4:45his unusual eating habits, and he will literally eat anything.
- 4:50And like, he really does mean anything. He said that he has no gag reflex and
- 4:55has described his approach to food as being extremely adventurous,
- 4:59trying foods that most people would probably look at and say, that's not dinner.
- 5:03That's literally a medical emergency waiting for a Yelp review.
- 5:08That's our government official. Kennedy is leading the Make America Healthy
- 5:12Again movement, which really focuses on food, nutrition, and wellness.
- 5:17But the internet also just resurfaced some of his previous comments about health,
- 5:21including his very enthusiastic descriptions of the benefits of his personal wellness routine.
- 5:27At one point, he even called certain digestive health experiences orgasmic.
- 5:32Yes, again, our government health official.
- 5:36That's also never something that you would expect to hear from the person in
- 5:40charge of America's health policy.
- 5:42But as we know, there's a lot of sentences we would have never expected to hear from our government.
- 5:48I mean, RFK Jr.'s diet isn't wrong. Like, we should all be super healthy, right?
- 5:53But if your wellness philosophy is like a combination of a nutrition seminar
- 5:58and a dare from Fear Factor, maybe that's not it.
- 6:03In Lindsay life, the only thing I can report on is yesterday,
- 6:06my sister and I got in a fight in the middle of a sweet green on the Upper East,
- 6:12around the corner from where we live.
- 6:14And we sat down at this booth and we're enjoying our little salad together and this woman,
- 6:21there's only one booth at the bottom of the sweet green and she just sat there
- 6:25with her baby in the shoulder I guess she didn't want to take it up the stairs
- 6:28so she asked if she could sit across from us and we're like yeah sure like we're gonna leave in a few,
- 6:33anyway we just started yelling at each other and I had to apologize to the woman
- 6:37after for fighting in front of her and ruining her lunch.
- 6:41Things we pretend are normal but are actually insane.
- 6:46Getting in a car with a random person constantly, or depending how much you use rideshares.
- 6:52People always asking for tips for literally anything. Like somebody sells you
- 6:57a water and you're supposed to tip them.
- 7:00You need a subscription for literally everything now.
- 7:04And dating apps require a monthly feed to find love.
- 7:07Of there's literally one app now where you pay $20 just to go on the date and
- 7:13nothing is even paid for then.
- 7:16And having to prove that you're a human by clicking on 14 pictures of a crosswalk
- 7:20and still not getting it correct,
- 7:23cooking tip of the day it's really just turning on a pan and putting stuff in
