Transcript
- 0:11Hello and welcome back to another episode of The Mindsets
- 0:15Podcast, episode 83. Charles.
- 0:18We're in seemingly a new location again.
- 0:20Always a new location. Just Mr. Worldwide, Mr. Mr.
- 0:24Worldwide Misters World having a brain attack.
- 0:29I don't know what's going on. I was trying to.
- 0:30Make start cool. It's a good start.
- 0:32It's a great start. Mail.
- 0:33That was cool. No, it wasn't at all.
- 0:35This time what we're going to do because we didn't get to it so
- 0:38far into last episode that we're going to tell everyone right now
- 0:41what we're talking about today. Nice.
- 0:43So last, I loved it. It was about 25 minutes to get
- 0:46to the fact that we were talking about Kili Hodgkinson's training
- 0:48program. So if you didn't even get that
- 0:50far, we do get there. Go back and have a listen.
- 0:52It's actually quite a good episode.
- 0:53Was that because there's two 2 minute news?
- 0:55Was a 20 minute news. I think, yeah, the two-minute
- 0:57news lasted something like 26 minutes solid from us.
- 1:01So this time we're going to, first of all, do a better job of
- 1:03keeping that down. But second of all, this episode,
- 1:05if you can't already tell by the title, is all about who's better
- 1:10in some ways. Yeah, we've got Bryson de Shambo
- 1:13and Rory McIlroy. Both are squaring up in this
- 1:16episode and they're squaring up. If you're listening to this this
- 1:20weekend, yeah, the weekend that it comes out or the the week
- 1:23that the podcast comes out is the weekend of the Masters.
- 1:26Every golfers fumbling? Yeah, every, every golfers
- 1:29favorite weekend. Isn't it big?
- 1:30Weekend, Yeah, gets to find out who gets to put on a fancy
- 1:32jacket. And obviously Rory won it last
- 1:36year. Bryson's not won it before, No.
- 1:39So they're going to go toe to toe.
- 1:41I think like also they'll probably be lots of eye rolling
- 1:45at the fact that we're going to be talking about golf.
- 1:47It's less about golf and more about the world of training in
- 1:50and around golf. I completely.
- 1:52Forgot Yeah, there are people that are looking for reasons to
- 1:54not listen. So like, stay with us because
- 1:56we're going to talk about training.
- 1:57Yeah, rather than the intricacies of how to play golf.
- 2:00Well, what you might find out from this episode is that you
- 2:02could be really good at golf because you do the similar
- 2:03training. So maybe hold tight, you should
- 2:07leave hybrid rock stars behind and maybe you just go and be on
- 2:10the tour anyway. We are going to get into the
- 2:12thick of it with how we usually do things from this point
- 2:14forward. 2 minute News. Let me set the timer.
- 2:18We're so not keeping this within two minutes.
- 2:20Come on, Challenge. Are you ready?
- 2:22I'm ready. Are you going to start?
- 2:23Yeah. Cool 321 Bosch.
- 2:26No, this isn't news from many, many years ago.
- 2:28Tiger Woods has been done for a DUI.
- 2:30He pleaded not guilty. He has, however, on a separate
- 2:34note, been found to have been driving with pills in his
- 2:37pocket. That's me.
- 2:38Go you. Josh Kerr announced, I think at
- 2:41the beginning of this week that he's going to try and break the
- 2:44world record for the Mile, which is breaking 222 seconds at the
- 2:49kind of back end of this year at the Diamond League.
- 2:52Adam Jamili, one of my favourite ever British sprinters, also
- 2:55announces his retirement this year after like 14 years in the
- 2:59sport. Something like that.
- 3:01On the weekend it was a bird and half marathon guy called Andrea
- 3:04Kiptu from Kenya, 15911 and then I'm going to butcher her name.
- 3:08Linky. Linkina Amabil from Ethiopia won
- 3:12the the girls race 105. There's a guy called Philip
- 3:15Caesarman, something like that. He's been on like flying form.
- 3:19He came something like 16th, ran an hour one, which puts him the
- 3:2319th fastest ever British half marathoner, which is pretty damn
- 3:28fast. Back to you.
- 3:30Well, I'm actually going to go back to your first one, Adam
- 3:32Jamili. I didn't know if you're going to
- 3:33get to this, but he has retired from being a sprinter.
- 3:36However, he is now going to be working with the Chelsea Academy
- 3:39this year with the football, with the football players.
- 3:41So that's cool. Anyway, yes, talking football,
- 3:44the Democratic Republic of of the Congo have actually
- 3:47qualified for the World Cup also, which is incredible.
- 3:50What's even more incredible was that Italy, who won the Euros in
- 3:522020 for the third time, have not qualified for the World Cup,
- 3:56which is crazy. One of the best nations.
- 3:58I think they've won one less time than British Brazil, which
- 4:00is mad. Yeah, that's crazy.
- 4:03The last one, Tom Pitcock, who was on British cyclist flying
- 4:07form beginning of this year, he won one of the classics earlier
- 4:10this year, had to pull out of the stage race the World to
- 4:13Catalunya because of a knee injury.
- 4:17He's one of the hopefuls who's hopefully going to try and
- 4:21attempt to beat Teddy Pogacha in the Tour de France, so there's
- 4:24no timeline on knee recovery, but hopefully he can get back
- 4:27fighting fit. I don't know if he was meant to
- 4:29ride the Zero, but that starts at the beginning of May, which
- 4:31is like 5 weeks. So we'll see, but fingers
- 4:34crossed that Tom gets back on the bike for that.
- 4:37Very nice, How long have we got? It was 211.
- 4:39I think you were too polite at the end.
- 4:41I was way too polite, but also we.
- 4:43Went in for a penny, in for a pound.
- 4:45And I've got one more thing to mention.
- 4:46So just because we do actually listen to our listeners, we
- 4:50actually have had a submission for the news this week.
- 4:53Oh, we did talk about came from Will.
- 4:56So Will, thank you very much. There has been a new world
- 4:59record for the concept 22K row. Time.
- 5:02Nice. Yeah, Yeah.
- 5:03OK, so yeah, Ollie Ziegler, 5 minutes, 33.
- 5:09Yeah. Have you got that on an average
- 5:11pace? No, I can.
- 5:13I can probably find it for you. Hold on.
- 5:17If it's on that post. It's not on the post that I have
- 5:20in front of me. It's it's got to be like one,
- 5:22yeah, zoom that in. It's got to be like one 20s.
- 5:25133.4 no no no no no sorry. 12123 point like 5 is looking
- 5:37for the average which is like. Go and go and go and find a
- 5:41rower. I was going to see how long you
- 5:43can do that for. Yeah, even getting down at that.
- 5:45Yeah, yeah, for maybe a hundred 200 meters, but there's no way
- 5:48I'm holding that for 5 1/2. Yeah, that's unbelievable.
- 5:50Also, it wasn't actually that long ago that it was deemed
- 5:54impossible. Impossible to go sub 6 minutes.
- 5:57Yeah, and now it's blown out the water, kind of.
- 6:00That is ridiculous. I'd like to know something about
- 6:02him, like how tall he is, how heavy he is, a little bit more
- 6:06about. His training, people request it.
- 6:08You know, we could do his training.
- 6:10No, awesome. There's been lots of concept
- 6:11records being broken recently. 1K was also broken recently, but
- 6:16they're all just like unfathomably quick.
- 6:19Like unbelievably fast. But yeah, that was a good
- 6:21submission. Very nice.
- 6:22Thank you very much for that. Will, guys, if you're listening
- 6:24and you've got any new submissions for us, obviously do
- 6:27let us know. We will actually mention them,
- 6:29but we're going to move swiftly into the group.
- 6:32So concisely. I know, well compared to last
- 6:35episode. Well I wasn't that hard guy so I
- 6:38grind my gears now. Do you want to start?
- 6:42I think I'm going to need to sometimes there's there's things
- 6:47that happen in my life and I off the message Angus and go this
- 6:50week. I really need grind my gears.
- 6:52So we're basically using this as an opportunity to for me to get
- 6:56some stuff off my chest. But obviously it was high rocks
- 6:59weekend in London, which is a big weekend for both of us.
- 7:02Lots of people competing, lots of people to go and watch.
- 7:05I was also competing, but obviously as a result of that,
- 7:08there's lots of things that are going to upset me.
- 7:11The first one, and it's been mentioned many times on the
- 7:14podcast, I don't want to name a specific backpack company, but
- 7:19it's a certain backpack which is very large.
- 7:22You can stick patches on it. It's not the actual physical
- 7:25backpack that's upsetting me as well.
- 7:28It is a little bit, but it's mainly the user of the backpack
- 7:32and the user of the backpack in the spectator zone.
- 7:35Now, obviously at the events, the spectator zone's quite
- 7:37small. It's just people with this like,
- 7:42inability to have any sort of like cognitive awareness of
- 7:45what's around them. And they've got this gigantic
- 7:47backpack on and they're trying to manoeuvre around.
- 7:50And I'm also trying to manoeuvre around and there's loads of
- 7:52these backpacks and it just makes everything impossible.
- 7:55And I'm in a hurry to get from one station to another station
- 7:57to see someone else and it's just a nightmare and people are
- 8:00oblivious and it really annoys me.
- 8:03Well, we knew that was going to happen.
- 8:05I have to deal with it all the time when I'm running around
- 8:07with a. Camera.
- 8:08Yeah, I can't. That's so annoying, but.
- 8:10Have you noticed the really interesting thing this year
- 8:12about BFA bags? No.
- 8:16We've seen where you can buy them on when you're at the
- 8:20venues. You can buy them there.
- 8:21Well, you, you always have been able to, but have you noticed
- 8:24this season you can't? Is there is?
- 8:27Is that because Puma also now sell an official backpack?
- 8:31Puma have just made a Velcro bag and they're not hanging around.
- 8:35I think I may have seen that. Are they also obnoxiously large?
- 8:39They're not. You can get as large, they're
- 8:40longer. Yeah, I think I've seen those.
- 8:42They still hold a lot and they've got the Velcro space on
- 8:46them, but they've basically just decided that we, yeah, we should
- 8:49just make that. All the backpacks are available.
- 8:51All the backpacks. Are so this this kind of feeds
- 8:53into my next crime I get is it's just people being.
- 8:57Oblivious as spectators. Lack of special awareness of
- 8:59people in day-to-day life pisses me so much.
- 9:01And it is day-to-day, but even more so at the events and, and I
- 9:05understand that for some people, they may not have been to a
- 9:08higher ox before. And I've been to a lot.
- 9:11So I kind of know the layer of the land and know how to get
- 9:13around. But there's just like this, I
- 9:16don't know how to explain it. Just like gormless walking
- 9:19around, like have some urgency, man.
- 9:21It's so annoying. If any of my like content
- 9:25clients are listening to this, I'm not going to encourage you
- 9:30to talk, it's to sorry to go back and listen to the clips
- 9:33that I send you because I do quite often remove sound.
- 9:38Two things are going on there. One, I'm secretly bad mouthing
- 9:40you. I'm just saying that you don't
- 9:42know what you're doing. That's very rare, I'll be
- 9:44honest. 2 it's usually just because I've stood there with a
- 9:48camera and lovely people that are a bit more spatially aware
- 9:52will pretty much do a matrix manoeuvre to not be on camera.
- 9:56And generally, for the most part, I know that I'm in a
- 9:58public space. I know that's going to happen.
- 9:59It doesn't really impact the quality of what I'm filming, so
- 10:02I don't mind. So I'll I'll actively encourage
- 10:04people to walk past. Sometimes I look quite cool in
- 10:06the videos, but a lot of the time, the video audio would just
- 10:11be me going. You're fine.
- 10:13Yeah, You can go. Yeah.
- 10:14Thank you. Yeah.
- 10:15Or my my classic. You're my favorite spectator.
- 10:19And then I'll walk away. But like, if you're listening to
- 10:22those videos, you might hear eight of those.
- 10:24You're my favorite spectator. Never going to be the same.
- 10:26Yeah, I love that. But you're fine.
- 10:28Yeah, Yeah, yeah, you're fine. Carry on.
- 10:29Yeah, that's good, right. So my first one, I've got a
- 10:34visual demonstration for you. Oh God, just because I noticed
- 10:37it was here these things. So if you're not watching on
- 10:41YouTube or Spotify, it's a gym clip because these things
- 10:46weirdly in this gym don't seem to be.
- 10:48Missing. Missing so there's actually 3
- 10:51spare So in I've upgraded gym. I think I've told you yes, I've
- 10:56upgraded the gym on that, but for some reason people just go
- 11:00walkabouts with them. Yeah, it seems like the kind of
- 11:03thing that gets lost is the. Best gym I've ever been to.
- 11:06Cable tied them. Nice.
- 11:09Yeah, now. I was when I first saw that I
- 11:11was like, what kind of place do we live in where the people are
- 11:13stealing? Yeah, no, genuinely great.
- 11:16And and they also had like 10 extras.
- 11:19Because what I will see is I'll see someone uses a lat pull
- 11:23down, which has got 2 cables. Yeah, now the lat pull down will
- 11:27have a bar across that connects both those clips and you can do
- 11:31it. So what pisses me off is when I
- 11:32see people doing it with like multiple clips.
- 11:35That's not what they've. Got I just also like, do they
- 11:39get lost so the people nick them?
- 11:41And if you're nicking them, why are you stealing that?
- 11:43What for? So this this we're going to go
- 11:46down the rabbit hole. The 1st gym I ever worked at and
- 11:50again, I'll name no names, but I was sat at the reception and the
- 11:54owner of the gym came over to me and it was kind of unprompted
- 11:58and I was sat there minding my own business and they said to
- 12:01me, do you trust the members? And I was like that's a weird
- 12:06question. Of course I trust the members.
- 12:09And I didn't really know what they were kind of hinting
- 12:12towards. But later found out that some of
- 12:15the equipment was going missing, lots of the bands were going
- 12:19missing. Like people love to steal bags
- 12:21and I didn't really understand it.
- 12:23And then when I owned a gym, I was like, someone's stealing the
- 12:28freaking bands. Someone's do you know how many
- 12:31drinks got taken from our fridge without being paid for?
- 12:34And you're like honest membership base stealing drinks,
- 12:38stealing bands. If we had any of these, they'd
- 12:41have been gone. You name it.
- 12:43People stealing toilet paper. I could definitely see people
- 12:47taking things like electrolytes because that's hard to notice,
- 12:49but even with drinks in a fridge like I would expect that
- 12:52someone's going to notice there's a drink missing.
- 12:54It's a, it's a, it's a real problem.
- 12:56Even the gym I work at now for most of you will know.
- 12:59Well, last year, last year, last week, we had to grind my gears,
- 13:02which was thieves for some like on camera stuff, but like petty
- 13:07crime. Look, I'm going to be completely
- 13:09honest here, so I'm going to tell a story that is not
- 13:14factual, but Once Upon a time there was a guy called Mangus.
- 13:22Mangus Let's go with Mangus, a cool guy who at university found
- 13:27out that anything, well, back then, not so much now because
- 13:31there wasn't the cameras on the tails, but anything secure
- 13:34checkout that was self checkout could be put through as an onion
- 13:39if you just weighed it. And what that meant is you can
- 13:42get like a really nice pizza that's like 4 lbs for like ATP.
- 13:48And like, I'm scanning it is weighing it, I'm paying it.
- 13:53Sorry, Mangus is scanning it, weighing it and he's paying for
- 13:56it and he's he's getting whatever.
- 13:58I know a lot of people do that. I was a university student.
- 14:01I wouldn't consider doing such a thing myself.
- 14:03Mangus at the time, I've outlined the tenses here a
- 14:07little bit too badly. Out of necessity.
- 14:08Out of necessity, yeah, would, would maybe make those things
- 14:11happen, but anything beyond that, especially when it
- 14:16directly impacts a local community.
- 14:17Rather than like a large corporation because I hear lots
- 14:20of people if as. Far as I'm concerned, there are
- 14:24large corporations who at the time of closing, if there's
- 14:27stuff left in their bakery, it has to go in the bin, They can't
- 14:30move it away. Stuff like that.
- 14:31That upsets me. Yeah.
- 14:33So you're just doing your. Bit, I'm doing my bit here, but
- 14:37I mean, Mangus, Mangus is doing his bit here.
- 14:39But yeah, when it's when it's actually like, if you, if you
- 14:42understand and for those of you that are listening, if you own a
- 14:46gym, correct me if I'm wrong, it's not the way to become a
- 14:50billionaire. It's pretty tough and you have
- 14:53to run a pretty tight ship on even the bills and the equipment
- 14:57and the upkeep and everything like that.
- 14:58So the last thing you need is your fridge to be empty.
- 15:02Yeah. It was a frustrating one because
- 15:04I wanted to think I'm in a class.
- 15:08I've run next door, I've grabbed A knocko.
- 15:11I don't want to disrupt the class.
- 15:12I'll pay for it later. I'm honest, honest and I will
- 15:16pay for it later. And then I just forget.
- 15:18I wanted to think it was that, but like when you stock check
- 15:21and there's 100 missing, you haven't had 100 honest people
- 15:25forget. So it's like it's one of those.
- 15:27It leaves a little bit of a bitter taste in the mouth, but.
- 15:29You say CCTV. We didn't at our gym but there
- 15:33is now CCTV at current gym for member safety.
- 15:37Really. Yeah.
- 15:38Yeah. OK.
- 15:39I love that. I love it as well.
- 15:41I'd be all over that. Call it out.
- 15:42Yeah, I'd be watching it all the.
- 15:43Time, but I think also now obviously stock is pretty
- 15:49consistent. Is it?
- 15:50Yeah. Well, there you go, it works.
- 15:51Isn't it easy? 11 more.
- 15:54Yeah, yeah. PDA ish in the gym.
- 15:56OK, here we go. So.
- 15:58I don't know what that means. No, I know about that ish.
- 16:02OK. So this is tied to a story
- 16:05actually from this week because I again, same gym.
- 16:08I promise you I've upgraded. I was walking past someone and I
- 16:17noticed at the corner of my eye that person was being stared at.
- 16:23And I'm just going to let you let everyone know there was a
- 16:26male and a female and I'll let you guess which way round was
- 16:29doing a staring, but it was deeply uncomfortable.
- 16:32I then while I was doing my exercise noticed this person who
- 16:35was doing the staring was walking past numerous times,
- 16:40kind of not circling but just like for no real need going and
- 16:44doing multiple water trips, that kind of thing.
- 16:45These people don't know each other that you know of.
- 16:48The I know of no, they're not. They're not training together
- 16:50then communicating nothing like that.
- 16:53He's now like kind of being really horribly or like awkward.
- 16:58And now she's she's moved on, she's onto a bench and she's
- 17:02started doing a new exercise. And then he starts lifting near
- 17:06her. And I'm like genuinely like, not
- 17:09my place, not that guy. But I am going to go and make
- 17:12sure she's OK in a second. Like I'm going to go when she's
- 17:14next in between sets and say like, is he annoying you?
- 17:17I can let one of the staff know I'm about to do that.
- 17:21And then they start talking to each other and it becomes very
- 17:24apparent that they're together. Fine, that's weird.
- 17:28But the whole thing I like immediately I was like, oh,
- 17:31thank God. Yeah, yeah, but I was.
- 17:33Like there's, there's like there's too many creepy blokes
- 17:36in the. Japanese, yeah.
- 17:37But then I was also like, what I have just seen was actually you
- 17:41guys flirting, and that's still quite uncomfortable.
- 17:44Super weird. Could you just both get on with
- 17:46your workout and not like circle her and like look at her in a
- 17:50certain way and it's like maybe I've just clocked onto it?
- 17:53That's what they're into, yeah. That's weird.
- 17:55Well, that's better than them being like all over each other
- 17:58and I. Was going to say actual PD.
- 18:00APDA in general no. In the gym is even worse, isn't
- 18:03it? So annoying.
- 18:05I've seen this is another grime I get.
- 18:07I've seen the same guy, this is my old gym, the same guy come to
- 18:11the gym with numerous different women and like just be like PDA
- 18:14with them all in the same like Fortnite.
- 18:17And I'm just like, this is horrible 'cause I I saw you in
- 18:22here yesterday with someone else being the exact same.
- 18:24And I don't know if you're just a creepy coach or if, like
- 18:26you're inviting. All these people.
- 18:27No, that's so tough. Yeah.
- 18:29Yeah. Anyway, let's move on.
- 18:30Let's move on. As we said, and This is why we
- 18:33let you guys know that it was coming.
- 18:35We are actually going to move on today's topic in the Red Corner,
- 18:40which is for both of us, we have Charles representing Bryson
- 18:44Deschambeau, my guy. And in the other red corner we
- 18:47have me representing Rory, Rory McIlroy.
- 18:49And we're going to go through basically what their training
- 18:51looks like. Because for those of you that
- 18:53don't know and you don't normally have massive interest
- 18:58in golf, we have two very talented athletes.
- 19:03And I say athletes, not golfers, athletes, however, they have
- 19:07somewhat different attitudes towards their training.
- 19:11Bryson is, I don't want to say he's like overly into it, but
- 19:17it's a key thing is like maximizing every single bit of
- 19:21potential he has. Rory's a bit more traditional,
- 19:24but like at the pinnacle of those traditional.
- 19:27Methods I would say, I think like golf has definitely changed
- 19:30even since I started watching it because I got into it when I was
- 19:33very, very young and it's definitely evolved and
- 19:37developed. And I kind of remember, I think
- 19:40it was Tiger who probably initiated the change from OK,
- 19:45we're a bunch of like kind of out of shape, but talented
- 19:49people who can hit a golf ball really well to OK, now we're
- 19:52athletes and we train like we're athletes.
- 19:54I think Tiger was the catalyst to kind of spark almost like a
- 19:59new age of golfer. I don't think it's necessarily
- 20:02infiltrated the whole of the the tour for all of the pro players,
- 20:07but I think the majority now is spending time in the gym because
- 20:10they understand the like the marginal gains that they can get
- 20:14from developing better speed, better strength, better power.
- 20:19Better flexibility, rotation, core strength, what that
- 20:22actually means for their game. And some like Bryson, who's
- 20:25very, very well known for how far he can hit the golf ball, he
- 20:29spends a lot of time in the gym. And I was actually intrigued
- 20:32because I obviously appreciated what his training might look
- 20:36like in the gym, but actually away from the gym, the practical
- 20:39application into his golf swing and how he hits the ball is very
- 20:44different. So if I was just going to the
- 20:45range and I was practicing my my golf game.
- 20:48So I'd be interested to see how that differs from from Rory.
- 20:51Sure. I think one of the things I
- 20:53would say as well, Rory has from his early days in his career was
- 21:00always pretty mature in looking at the longevity of his career
- 21:02because GG is one of the longest pro careers that you can have in
- 21:05sport. I mean, you've got guys that are
- 21:07in their 70s still playing at the top level.
- 21:09So when Rory was, you know, signed to win tournaments and
- 21:12like big tournaments in his later like latter teens, early
- 21:1620s, like he's only scraping the surface of his career.
- 21:20Like not necessarily trying to win everything in the next 5
- 21:24years is important for him. And like we say that he he won
- 21:26the Masters for the first time last year and I can't even
- 21:28remember off the top of my head. I should have this in front of
- 21:31me, his actual age. But like, dude's got grey hair.
- 21:33Yeah, yeah, he's not. He's had a long.
- 21:36Time since he'd last one is is a major yeah, yeah.
- 21:41One of the interesting things is that he Rory in the past has
- 21:45worked quite a lot with the with titlist in their performance
- 21:48center and sort of develop a base training sort of
- 21:53methodology, which apparently according to other podcasts that
- 21:56he's been on, it's still like a key part of it.
- 22:00And they're, they're mainly rooted in mobility, rotational
- 22:03power, strength, but then also like holistic fitness.
- 22:08So not like bodybuilding, but general strength training,
- 22:13hypertrophy training, because there is an element of muscular
- 22:15endurance and building Rep ranges.
- 22:17And that sort of thing is also important for that.
- 22:19But they're like the main sort of the core things that he takes
- 22:23into account. But also when we spoke about
- 22:25plyometrics with plenty of athletes, plyometrics for
- 22:28stability because you don't always play off a map.
- 22:31Yeah, yeah. You've really got to be able to
- 22:33adjust what your swings do. For sure.
- 22:34Yeah, this is actually like sparked something in my brain
- 22:38that's that's reminded me of and I have to dig out the videos.
- 22:41But way back when I first started coaching, I was still
- 22:46CrossFit coaching, but I was looking at maybe specializing
- 22:48into something else. I did a lot of time on golf,
- 22:52specific strength and conditioning.
- 22:53I'm going to have to find some of those videos with me
- 22:56explaining how to use a Med ball for rotational drills.
- 22:58It's so embarrassing, but I'll dig them out because they're
- 23:00somewhere on my social media. But if we talk about it then and
- 23:05we kind of break it, break down what their training looks like.
- 23:08Obviously golf, unlike a lot of other sports that we speak
- 23:13about, is skill based when we talk first.
- 23:17For example, Keeley Hodgkinson, there's very little skill in
- 23:22running around a track. Obviously there's things that
- 23:25you can develop to improve your running economy and your running
- 23:28mechanics, but other than that, it's basically just developing
- 23:32your ability to run fast for a long amount of time and that's
- 23:35just hard work. The skill element is what
- 23:38differentiates golf because I think for a lot of people golf
- 23:42isn't necessarily a sport because it does, it lacks kind
- 23:45of that physicality. But I think you underestimate if
- 23:48you don't play golf the length of time it takes you to play
- 23:51around and how long you have to concentrate for.
- 23:55So if you're physically fitter, I feel like it drains your
- 23:59mental less. So I think there's lots to be
- 24:02said for not only developing your skill, which I think Bryson
- 24:06spends a lot of time hitting golf balls and Rory will be the
- 24:09same, but they're also in the gym pretty frequently and they
- 24:12also gym in and around their tournaments, I'd imagine.
- 24:17I don't know whether that's like to help with distracting
- 24:21themselves from the pressure of the tournament, but lots of them
- 24:23will go to the gym the morning of actually playing around or in
- 24:26the evening. I was reading somewhere, I think
- 24:29it was like golf.com or something similar website.
- 24:32Bryson was saying at the end of a tournament day, he'll go to
- 24:35the gym, whether it's for flexibility, mobility, but he's
- 24:39also quoted on saying and also to get a pump.
- 24:42So it's like for him, he just loves the gym and he's got a gym
- 24:45in his house and I know he trains a lot, but he's doing
- 24:48morning gym is like strength and core.
- 24:52Then he'll go and play in the range and the range will be
- 24:56anywhere between kind of hitting short or like loading up through
- 25:01his short game into a long game. But then what he does is he'll
- 25:05do some and we'll talk about it more specifically, he'll do like
- 25:07some speed swinging and like some swings where it's like I
- 25:11don't really care about the what the outcome of the shot is.
- 25:14I'm just looking for the output in the actual swing, which is
- 25:16really really interesting. I feel like speed training for
- 25:19swing has become a, a bit of a buzz, well, a buzz training
- 25:24platform since Bryson went live on YouTube talking about it.
- 25:27And now like you can buy so many different things to help you
- 25:29train your swing speed. And I mean, he's done videos
- 25:33where he literally the entire video that I've seen on YouTube
- 25:35is him swinging this thing with a weight on the end of it as
- 25:38fast as possible and then going to a net with the, what's it
- 25:42called that's on the ground that basically tells you how far you
- 25:44hit the ball. Track man or something like
- 25:46that. It's it's something like that,
- 25:47but it's yeah, it basically will give you all the information.
- 25:50He's like trying to maximize the ball speed and interestingly,
- 25:54like this is something that probably Rory doesn't shout
- 25:56about as much, but it also does. Rory's one of the longest
- 26:00hitters on the court and he's known for like being also one of
- 26:03the purest hitters. He's not doing anything absurd
- 26:06like when Bryson decides to just cut the corner on a 400 and
- 26:10something yard oil, but he is consistently putting the ball in
- 26:15the right place far down the fairways and he's doing a lot of
- 26:18similar thing. What I have gone away and I've
- 26:21looked at a a bit similar to what we've done in previous
- 26:25athletes is kind of what a week might look like, not necessarily
- 26:27a tournament week, but how much golf is being played in terms of
- 26:31like the course. But typically Rory will have the
- 26:35gym built into a lot of his days and then he will have some form
- 26:38of skill work in the like afternoon or maybe skill work
- 26:41first then gym later. And again, the main focus I've
- 26:44already said is kind of working on that rotational power, the
- 26:47stability kind of thing in the gym.
- 26:48He will also be doing a lot of compound movements because we've
- 26:53spoken about this before and I went down a rabbit hole.
- 26:54So I'm not going to do it again about the fact that golf as a
- 26:59motion is actually a throwing, which is like a little bit
- 27:03counter intuitive. But if I replace the Golf Club
- 27:06in your hand with a Med ball and told you to do it at the wall,
- 27:09you'd actually do a very similar thing.
- 27:10And again, if you go and watch like a baseball player, if you
- 27:14look at a pitcher throw the ball, they throw the ball solo
- 27:16down that it's almost like an underarm, but it's not.
- 27:20And again, it's just using the rotational force, but compound
- 27:23lifts are a really, really important part of that process
- 27:26because for the actual loading of the swing, it's very similar
- 27:31in Rep length to a compound lift.
- 27:34And so Rory's been known to mention that he does things like
- 27:38trap bar deadlifts. I was going to say.
- 27:40Deadlift and and squats and a lot of lower body stuff because,
- 27:44and again, this is what I was always taught with throwing is.
- 27:47Where's it come? From where's it come from?
- 27:49It comes from the ground up. And then you just have
- 27:51everything else becomes an extension of that source.
- 27:54So that's what he'll be doing a lot of.
- 27:56When it comes to the range sessions.
- 27:59Again, this kind of is how you would expect to break your own
- 28:02training down. You're not going to do the same
- 28:03thing every day. And when I know you or I or
- 28:06anyone listening might have gone to the driving range in the
- 28:08past, we probably don't do it all that often.
- 28:11So when we go, we take most of our clubs, Yeah, we might run
- 28:15through all of them. We'll do our warm up, which
- 28:16we'll just be using the seven iron for 20 balls.
- 28:19And if it goes well, we'll be like, cool, I'm going to use my
- 28:21driver now. And if it doesn't, then maybe
- 28:23you'll go to the passing room with the rest of the balls.
- 28:25But for them it's, it's obviously very different.
- 28:28It might be working on a shot shape.
- 28:31It might be working on a specific yardage.
- 28:33It, I mean, with latest technology, it might actually be
- 28:37working on doing very, very different things with ball
- 28:40flight in order to maximize or replicate certain shots.
- 28:44And so there's, there's a whole host of things.
- 28:46And for example, it might literally just be like a driver
- 28:50day. But for that driver day, there
- 28:52won't have been any core work in the morning of because you don't
- 28:55necessarily want to pre fatigue if you, because I mean,
- 28:59realistically, the pre fatigue of a rotational strength
- 29:03training session does not replicate the three hours of
- 29:06golf performance. It's very different fatigue.
- 29:09So those things wouldn't get paired together.
- 29:10When you look at their score, you're like, well, they've,
- 29:13they've shot, I don't know, 69 to 75, That's how many swings
- 29:18are done, that's how many rotations.
- 29:20But. Also within that, I mean in
- 29:21theory if they've shot par. So let's say they they've hit
- 29:24par 72 on A on A. 72 par course. I mean, 36 of those shots were
- 29:31pops. I love your thing.
- 29:33So like half of that. Then I go to the gym and I do 79
- 29:37Russian twists. Exactly.
- 29:38You know, it's just like you've played, you've played a full
- 29:40round of golf just in one. And you mentioned, you mentioned
- 29:44a lot of people won't give credit to, you know, how long
- 29:46the game of golf is. For those people that don't seem
- 29:48to have an interest in golf, this will sound like hell.
- 29:51But for if, if you and I were playing and we were walking the
- 29:55course, it might take us 4 hours.
- 29:57For those guys, it actually takes a lot longer than that
- 30:00because the pace of players a little bit slower, they might be
- 30:04better and taking less shots than three yards forward and
- 30:07going again. And the time they take to
- 30:09analyse the shot and discuss with their caddy.
- 30:13Yeah, I mean, it's a it's it definitely takes time.
- 30:16I forgot what I was going to say now.
- 30:18So it can't have been that important, but it was it was
- 30:22going to be really, really good. So you can continue in well.
- 30:25I'll struggle to keep up with that, but in terms of the Gulf
- 30:27volume and. Literally obviously remembered
- 30:31now. OK, so I'm just like, it would
- 30:33be quite good if we could like have almost like a list of
- 30:39things that you need to characterize a sport And what
- 30:44obviously I said on on the Diet Starts Monday podcast with
- 30:48Roscoe. I thought tennis players created
- 30:50the most all round complete athlete.
- 30:53I think golf is very similar to tennis with all of the the
- 30:59mental fatigue that comes with it.
- 31:00It's not as fast-paced as tennis and you're not necessarily
- 31:05having to deal with the return shot from another person, but
- 31:10you're dealing with the conditions of the course,
- 31:13whether the greens fast, whether the greens slow, whether you're
- 31:15working with wind, except all of the environmental stuff.
- 31:18But you have that that mental stimulation always.
- 31:21But then it's the the skill that comes in the form of accuracy.
- 31:25And like you pair that together with obviously when you're
- 31:28hitting the ball, it's so athletic with the rotation from
- 31:31the hips, with the timing, with just the general feel.
- 31:35It has all of the elements that I think tennis has.
- 31:38It just doesn't have that physicality.
- 31:40I'd say it doesn't have like quite the same intensity.
- 31:43Right. And that's and that's the thing
- 31:44that that it lacks. And then as a result, I think
- 31:46people discredit it as a sport because it's like, well, I could
- 31:51just, it's, it's just walking around and then hitting a golf
- 31:53ball. But I think at the top level,
- 31:55it's so like, it's maybe not intense in the traditional sense
- 32:00that we'd use it for sport, but it's intense.
- 32:04So imagine right? I think if we if we reframe this
- 32:09as well. So for people that are
- 32:12listening, if I gave you the opportunity to return a serve
- 32:16from Venus Williams, OK, it's her second serve for one.
- 32:20So there's a slight more chance and she's at the other end of
- 32:23the court. You step up and she looks at you
- 32:26and she goes, you ready? And you go, OK, you get your one
- 32:30attempt right? Now, if I go to you and I say
- 32:33same situation, there's a green over there.
- 32:37There's nothing in the way of it.
- 32:38The ball has to land on the green.
- 32:40You win the same prize if you get the tennis return back in.
- 32:43Here's a bag full of clubs and you're going to take probably 5
- 32:50minutes before you hit the ball. That 5 minutes is horrible
- 32:55because now I've given you so many options and you've got so
- 32:59much time to think and the time that you then choose to hit the
- 33:01ball, Are you going to hit it when it is windy?
- 33:03When it's not? Is it windy down there?
- 33:04Is it windy? All of these different things
- 33:07you now have to consider. Whereas when Venus goes, Are you
- 33:09ready? That's it.
- 33:11It's like you just you just read and respond and you try and get
- 33:13it in. And if you don't pair.
- 33:14Out. Much of that response is
- 33:15actually just an inherent reaction to where the balls
- 33:18going. You're not returning it either
- 33:20way, just by the way, even if it's Venus Williams the second.
- 33:23So you ain't returning it. Now if you add in, if you layer
- 33:26on right, imagine the impact. It's Venus Williams by the way,
- 33:30and we are mere mortals. Now, if I told you you get 3
- 33:34attempts with both scenarios, but the first attempts, the, the
- 33:39attempts that you've had with Venus Williams, you've
- 33:42absolutely like, you've missed most of them.
- 33:44Like you haven't even seen it. You're not going to have a lot
- 33:46of confidence. But again, you're like, Oh well,
- 33:48I mean, she's a pro tennis player.
- 33:50It is what it is when you're dealing with the conditions.
- 33:54And let's say I told you the 1st 2 attempts with the golf ball,
- 33:56you hit one in the water and you you hit one like 2 feet in front
- 33:59of you. You cannot get those out of your
- 34:01head because you're in full control of what happens with the
- 34:04ball. And so you have a bad hole,
- 34:06let's say when you're actually playing golf and getting
- 34:09yourself out of that is so much harder than having a bad game in
- 34:13tennis where someone has just outserved like it's just hit 3
- 34:16aces, 4 aces down the middle. You haven't got a single one
- 34:19back. It doesn't really bother you
- 34:20going into the next game so much as like that was really good
- 34:22from them. In golf, you have a bad hole.
- 34:26You, I mean you could be 600 par, go into the last hole and
- 34:29shoot a 21. Well, you can't shoot a 10 over
- 34:32and like you just destroyed for the next day.
- 34:35It can carry you through a whole tournament, whereas that sort of
- 34:37impact mentally doesn't happen. So it's definitely more of a
- 34:40mental sport around the skill aspect.
- 34:43Just on that I, I, it must have been on YouTube.
- 34:46I saw a video of Carlos Alcrast walking onto tennis court and
- 34:51he's wearing like track suits and like Travis Scott Lowe's.
- 34:55And he's just then someone pass in the racket and goes, can you
- 34:59serve at me? And he serves maybe 20% effort.
- 35:03The guy doesn't hit it and they're like, what?
- 35:07And he was like, oh, you want me to actually try?
- 35:09Just chill in like shoes aren't even done up.
- 35:12So as 100% the guy, like he can't even react fast enough.
- 35:16Like it's one of those things where you're deconditioned
- 35:20because you see pro tennis players playing on TV, the likes
- 35:24of Rodger, Federer, Nadal, all of the rest of them, Andy
- 35:28Murray's, all of these people who are incredible at tennis.
- 35:31And you become deconditioned because they can return it if
- 35:33you were put in that position. Same as if you see a
- 35:36professional marathon runner run past on TV, you're like, yeah,
- 35:39they're running fast. But until you actually
- 35:41experience it, same thing with golf as well, because you can't,
- 35:46you have no comprehension of like you watch it on TV.
- 35:50There's that shot of the Masters Rory played.
- 35:52You know that reaction. You know exactly what I'm
- 35:55talking about. I think it's on to the 15th
- 35:57maybe maybe earlier in in, but he's he's hit just the most
- 36:00outrageous draw. Like the ball started way right
- 36:04and then it's finished. Pin high.
- 36:06Yeah. So, so for those that don't
- 36:08really know, obviously depending on which hand you used to hit
- 36:10the ball, but a draw is going from right to left and you you
- 36:13bend it around. Yes, but also hitting that is
- 36:16also an optical way with the spin of the ball for extra
- 36:19distance. But this one was purely like
- 36:21there is a massive jury in the way.
- 36:23Yeah, yeah. And I have to get it all the way
- 36:25around. That over water, the pressure
- 36:27cooker, this is and and I mean all of the external factors for
- 36:31Rory on that final round of the Masters last year, we've spoken
- 36:34about that so many times. Like to be able to do that is
- 36:36unbelievable. But I love the analogy of tennis
- 36:38because I think tennis is slightly more relatable.
- 36:42But in the same way that you hit over the ball to create top spin
- 36:45and hit under the ball to create back spin, you can do exactly
- 36:48the same thing with a golf ball. And the, the professional
- 36:51golfers have just this unbelievable ability to spin and
- 36:55shape the ball. And it's just like for someone
- 36:58who's just picking up a Golf Club, even hitting the ball
- 37:01straight 50 yards is like an incredible achievement.
- 37:05To then think about how much repetition, how much practice
- 37:08has gone in for them to be able to hit the same shot over and
- 37:12over and over again. It's it's, it's unbelievable.
- 37:15So I'm going to say it was probably about 10 years ago,
- 37:18TaylorMade did a series of YouTube videos with their
- 37:21golfers and they did range videos, They did videos, They
- 37:26took golfers out on course. And in this one particular
- 37:28video, they took Rory McIlroy out on course and they were
- 37:30talking to him about one of his favorite things to do in, in
- 37:32terms of a bit of fun training. And I don't know if anyone
- 37:35listening or yourself has played golf on your own, but if you
- 37:39play golf on your own and you're going to be out there, it's
- 37:42actually not that slow, especially if you're just being
- 37:45nice to yourself and you go, I hit that one in the tree, I put
- 37:47this one down in a fairway. But one of the things you can do
- 37:51is play 2 balls and then often if you're feeling like you want
- 37:55to be kind to yourself, you'd always play the better ball and
- 37:57you go, Oh my gosh, I'm actually like pro.
- 38:00But what he'll do is he'll take the worst ball or if he's
- 38:03playing with a ball and it's not in a great or is is in an OK
- 38:08spot, he'll make it worse. And in this particular tailor
- 38:11made video, and I hope it's still up there, if you want to
- 38:13go find it, go watch. It's really entertaining.
- 38:15They have the guy from Tailor Made play a ball and then Rory
- 38:20McIlroy has to go and save it and so they play the whole
- 38:23together. But his job is to try and make
- 38:26it as hard as possible for Rory to do because I.
- 38:27Was going to say that the tailor made employees probably not bad
- 38:30at. Goal, right.
- 38:30Yeah, yeah. But he'll like, he'll like make
- 38:32it deliberately awkward so he he'll tee off or sometimes they
- 38:36actually walked up and they were like just throw the ball on the
- 38:38floor and they're like how would you deal with this Yeah.
- 38:40And he was like, this is actually quite a key part of my
- 38:42training because again, you can do all of the specifics and know
- 38:46exactly like how your body is supposed to move.
- 38:49You can do all the strength training you require.
- 38:51That's a good point. And all of a sudden you're
- 38:54behind the tree on the 15th hole and you've got, you've got to
- 38:56curve this ball round into the wind, against the wind and get
- 39:00it on the green to have any chance of your competition
- 39:02surviving. And you cannot replicate that on
- 39:05a range. And so the best way to do it is
- 39:08to get out on course and put yourself in horrible scenarios.
- 39:11And to be honest, they're kind of fun.
- 39:14He does say, like, he doesn't necessarily do a whole 18 holes
- 39:17of it. He won't be three holes at the
- 39:19end of a range. Session.
- 39:19I'm sure it's more stimulating than always being on the nice
- 39:22part of the fairway. Exactly.
- 39:23And like doing that in training and this is a big thing that I
- 39:27was going to ask you about if you knew anything off from his
- 39:30YouTube. I don't know if this is
- 39:31something you'd have prepared for the episode, but in the
- 39:33mental training of golf, we've spoken about how important it is
- 39:36you look at someone, and we've mentioned this before, Warrie in
- 39:38his career, I mean, very early on should have won the Masters
- 39:42when he was a lot younger and just absolutely crushing defeat.
- 39:46And he's had a few times in his career where he has seemingly
- 39:50had it just there for him to take in terms of tournament wins
- 39:54and competition wins. But.
- 39:55I mean, it just it proves how difficult the sport is.
- 39:59But like going back to that point where you go, you can do
- 40:01all of the strength work, you can do X1 Z, unless you are
- 40:05unbelievably well drilled and have very good mechanics and can
- 40:08hit the ball consistently well, you're never going to be a top
- 40:11golfer. So that's why the likes of
- 40:14someone like John Daly, for example, who you look at and you
- 40:16go, that guy ain't athletic. But there's a few people like
- 40:19that who probably are still knocking around on tour.
- 40:21They're few and far between now because of the likes of Bryce
- 40:24and the Shambo who's hitting the.
- 40:26Just way further than everyone else.
- 40:28But I think if you're a bit newer to golf or interested in
- 40:32golf, I think Bryson's YouTube channel is a great place to
- 40:35start. It kind of breaks down the
- 40:37barriers to getting into golf and it also makes it a little
- 40:41bit more fun and entertaining. And he doesn't just play with
- 40:44golfers. He doesn't do like crazy serious
- 40:46golf content, but in and around the videos that he's making, for
- 40:49example, he does a series called Breaking 50 where he'll play
- 40:53around and try and break 50. Obviously the names that, but he
- 40:57plays in a pair. He'll play with people like he's
- 41:00played with Steph Curry. That's a great episode because
- 41:02Steph is an unbelievable golfer as well, but it just makes it a
- 41:06little bit more fun. But you can see in those
- 41:08episodes how much Bryson understands his game to like new
- 41:15levels and like how analytical he is of his game, even in a
- 41:19casual setting. And he's the way he reads
- 41:21greens, the way he talks about the amount of power he's going
- 41:25to put in the shot. He knows every single yardage of
- 41:29every single club. And he's like, he's so
- 41:32scientific about it that they they some his videographer
- 41:34sometimes takes the piss out of him.
- 41:36But they're they're all like that on on tour.
- 41:38I think it's Matt Fitzgerald who has a little notebook and he's
- 41:42written down a note on every single shot he's ever taken.
- 41:47And I think that's like ever since the first time he hit a
- 41:50golf ball. He had a book and he hit on the
- 41:52range and he went that went 33 yards a little bit to the right.
- 41:56He's done it ever since, which is mental, and you see him on
- 42:00the course. Seemingly psychotic, but we
- 42:02spoke about this, I think a year ago when we were talking about
- 42:05what it takes to be the best and like, you have to be relatively
- 42:09psychotic. Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 42:11Charlie might be listening to this when Charlie was on here
- 42:13when he's talking about some of his training.
- 42:15There are literally people that just don't want to do that and
- 42:18like think, why would you want to stare at all night long?
- 42:20You have to have an element of like, not psychosis that's a bit
- 42:24harsh, but you have to be a bit weird to be good at stuff.
- 42:30But even the way that Charlie, and I'm sure he won't mind me
- 42:32saying this, the way he talks about his training and the way
- 42:36he can remember his training and all of the the logging of his
- 42:40training, like that's not normal behaviour.
- 42:43But his results aren't normal because exactly.
- 42:45Do you know what I want? If you want abnormal results,
- 42:48you have to abnormal. And that's not, that's not mean
- 42:50like disrespectful or rude. Like I truly respect it like
- 42:53nothing else. But not everyone's doing that.
- 42:56And as a result, not everyone is Elite 15 athlete.
- 42:59Not everyone's a Professional Golf player.
- 43:01And one of the interesting things that Bryson gets a lot of
- 43:04attention for doing some of the more crazy things in terms of
- 43:09trying to find those one percenters.
- 43:11So the fat golf grips uses that kind of thing, which I think I'd
- 43:14love. I want to give those a go.
- 43:16But again, that's me kind of falling into it going, oh, could
- 43:19that help my game? Because it's helped is Rory's a
- 43:21lot more traditional. Again, he might be doing those
- 43:24things. He doesn't shout about it.
- 43:26If you look at Rory's swing, that thing has been cultivated
- 43:31for years and it's still like a key thing.
- 43:33Obviously doesn't need to work on it all the time to improve it
- 43:35now, but it's a key, key thing that you have to keep consistent
- 43:40because if you get 1 deviation in your swing, it throws off
- 43:43everything you know about your yardages, how consistent you are
- 43:46with a certain club, everything. And so for those purposes,
- 43:51that's why, especially as golfers do get older, the
- 43:55mobility thing is so key. But it's not just mobility in
- 43:59the way that we see it as like doing some 1990s with your hips,
- 44:02like actually is your shoulder mobility good enough?
- 44:05You're doing enough of that. And then also swing training
- 44:08comes under a bit of mobility as well.
- 44:11So again, another focus in his training rather than so much
- 44:14looking for those things that aren't in your control that
- 44:18could make a difference. He's looking to basically say,
- 44:21well, I'm going to paraphrase here, but he's mentioned the
- 44:24people have been playing golf at an elite level for years.
- 44:27So like, you don't necessarily have to do anything
- 44:30substantially fantastic these days to be at the same level
- 44:34that they used to be. And they used to break par and
- 44:36set on like just unbelievable scores.
- 44:39I mean, you look at Tiger Woods, I mean in his unbelievable
- 44:43winning era was the early 2000s, that's 20, the 25 years ago he
- 44:49was absolutely dominating and saying some of the some course
- 44:51records which still today have not been broken.
- 44:53There's he's he has I I wish I remember this fact because it's
- 44:57unbelievable, but he's like he he has every single record in
- 45:02the PGA like you, you name it, Tiger has it.
- 45:05And if the winning streak that he went on in the early 2000s,
- 45:09just go and watch the Tiger Woods documentary on YouTube
- 45:11because even me thinking about it gives me goosebumps.
- 45:14And there's that reel that's going round where they like
- 45:18montage some of his best moments.
- 45:21But the beginning of the clip and and even this is this is
- 45:24mind boggling where when he started playing, he wasn't
- 45:28allowed in some of the clubhouses just because of the
- 45:30colour of his skin. Like, how ridiculous is that?
- 45:33But Tiger, he's like famously quoted for saying, and he was
- 45:36like, OK, whatever. He was like, I have two
- 45:38questions. He's like, where's the first tee
- 45:41and what's the course record? And then it goes into the
- 45:43montage of him just being an absolute savage.
- 45:46And like, that makes my hair. So that like Tiger Woods from
- 45:49the early 2000s is the reason why I got into golf because he
- 45:54that was the reason Rory got into golf.
- 45:56And they like they had a very similar like really fluid,
- 45:59really athletic, really natural swing.
- 46:02And when I saw Rory playing golf, I was like, I want to be a
- 46:04golfer. And like, that's the progression
- 46:06of it. And like Rory's had some issues
- 46:11in his career at some point, maybe especially with his
- 46:13putting. And like lots of golfers have
- 46:15these issues and they try different putters and they try
- 46:17different styles. But I think inherently his
- 46:21swings very natural. Whereas Bryson's gone through
- 46:24this whole process of like re cultivating his swing and like
- 46:27using different equipment and learning to trust his equipment
- 46:30again. And he has a less traditional
- 46:32looking swing. If you put them side by side,
- 46:34you'd go, I want to swing like Rory, but whatever, Like Bryson
- 46:38swings like Bryson and he hits the ball so far.
- 46:41And that's actually like come full circle for me because now
- 46:44when I'm playing golf, I used to try and copy someone like Tiger
- 46:48Woods or Rory McIlroy. I just copy like a monkey see
- 46:52monkey do. I trying to copy their swings
- 46:54and that's kind of how I learned how to play.
- 46:56But I've realised that I can't have their swing, that's their
- 46:59swing. So I need to work with what I
- 47:01have. And that's what kind of Bryson
- 47:03showed me over the last couple of years where he's got a weird
- 47:06looking swing sometimes. And so as a result, I'm OK with
- 47:09my swing looking a bit janky sometimes.
- 47:12If I get the results I want, starts the job right?
- 47:15I think that's one of the biggest sort of maturity things
- 47:18that I see in a lot of sport is like you'll see people at the
- 47:20top level generally, they just do stuff differently.
- 47:24And like you just have to accept that actually that's partly the
- 47:28reason they're elite is because they haven't spent ages trying
- 47:30to undo what they naturally do. And there's like their bodies
- 47:33found a way to do something like you don't necessarily need to
- 47:35fight it. And I very much now, but sadly
- 47:38you and I are both getting old. So we're probably not going to
- 47:42GoPro anytime soon in any sports that we compete in right now.
- 47:45But if I was to pick up a sport now, I would actually take the
- 47:50approach of, well, there's not really too much point in me
- 47:53going to square 1. It's a movement I already sort
- 47:56of do. Then I just need to maximize
- 47:59attention of that and I could probably still be pretty good
- 48:03potentially elite. But if I tried to go and watch
- 48:07numerous videos of Rory and his swing and I tried to learn that,
- 48:10but all equivalent for whatever sport this could be.
- 48:13I will probably have less success if I just went with what
- 48:17I can currently do with a bit of help in in shaping that.
- 48:21And I think that's what you see when a lot of these athletes and
- 48:24golfers especially work with different coaches, that might be
- 48:27actually because they feel one coach has tried to change
- 48:30something they do too much and another coach might.
- 48:33They might just run into another coach and be like, why have you
- 48:35changed that? Yeah, you were doing that so
- 48:36well. Five years ago, yeah.
- 48:38Yeah. And they go, actually that's a
- 48:39really good point. And they might go back.
- 48:40How? Often do you see that whether
- 48:42that's golf, whether I think it's golf and tennis because
- 48:45they're so much like mechanical and where you, I think the
- 48:47analogy is really, really good, but this is so convoluted.
- 48:50But there's another golf YouTube called Grant Horvath who's a + 2
- 48:54or something handicapper. So he's like, he's incredibly
- 48:56good at golf. He played college, but he
- 48:59sometimes does videos with Bryson and you go this
- 49:01incredible college golfer, He sucks compared to Bryson.
- 49:05Like to be a professional golfer is just like unrivalled.
- 49:08And there's also a podcast where a football podcast where they
- 49:11ask Gareth Bale if they thought he could be a professional
- 49:14golfer because he's he's. Great, like you said about Steph
- 49:17Curry as well. Like, great, just naturally.
- 49:20Talented, have lots of money and has lots of time and he was like
- 49:23obviously not. I think Gareth Bell plays maybe
- 49:25nearly off scratch or something like that.
- 49:27No way is he good enough. But anyway original point.
- 49:29Grant Horvath has his own YouTube channel.
- 49:31Also a really good place to go and watch golf YouTube.
- 49:35He did a spoof video where he pretended to be a beginner and
- 49:39he went to two different PJ pros and asked them for a lesson.
- 49:43Kind of the morally wrong whatever.
- 49:45He dressed up and pretended to be someone he wasn't.
- 49:47But he went and he changed the swing a little bit, but he could
- 49:50still naturally hit the ball. And the coaches, because they're
- 49:54good coaches, watch the action and went, yeah, good, go again.
- 49:59Yeah, go again. I'm not changing anything
- 50:01because the result is you're hitting the ball well.
- 50:04So it's like a sign of a good coach.
- 50:06I think it's like if Rory McIlroy came to me and was like,
- 50:09can you help me with my swing? There's probably not much I'm
- 50:12changing. So one of the I had a golf
- 50:16lesson when I was, so I used to play golf as well.
- 50:18I went to driving range, it was Wentworth.
- 50:20So for those that don't know Wentworth, very famous course in
- 50:23the UK, it's been home to the Open.
- 50:28Was that every first ever golf lesson?
- 50:31No it wasn't my first ever, it was just it.
- 50:33I got it for Christmas and birthday is like a.
- 50:36That's a great gift. It was.
- 50:37Really cool. And I went in and bear in mind,
- 50:39again, this is like probably 12 years ago now.
- 50:44I walked in and the guy was like, yeah, just hit some guess
- 50:47what? Club 7 iron obviously just hit
- 50:50some 7 iron shots for me. And then after like 8 shots he
- 50:53was like, OK, just stop there. If you just come over here and
- 50:55he got an iPad out. Whoa, what are we doing here?
- 50:58And there was multiple. Characters.
- 51:00And basically the software hood recognize and compared my swing
- 51:04to a pro swing and then he could just coach me off that.
- 51:08And so he was like, so you're actually pretty similar.
- 51:10And he was like, the problem that we've got here is you are
- 51:12young. So like you're going to grow and
- 51:13it's going to change. But like this is what we'll work
- 51:16off and this is, you know, the differences and how you can
- 51:19match myself. So cool being like, OK, I should
- 51:22play golf like this person. Yeah, yeah.
- 51:23So all of a sudden it was like, OK, well, sadly I'm not playing
- 51:26golf like Tiger Woods, but I am playing like this.
- 51:28He's professional and I can actually go and watch what they
- 51:30do and like, start to model my golf game around that.
- 51:33And that's again when I was playing American football.
- 51:38I seems like same process. As soon as Josh Allen came
- 51:41along, yeah, everyone was like, you throw like him.
- 51:43I was like, well, that's great. He's he's got a cannon.
- 51:46He's a very, he's basically a very successful player.
- 51:48But at the time he was a pretty bad athlete in the NFL.
- 51:53Well, pretty bad athlete in college because he wasn't really
- 51:55that recognised. And so I was a bit like, I don't
- 51:58like that comparison now. Gassed about it.
- 52:00Yeah. Yeah, One of the best.
- 52:01At the time, I was like, I want to be Aaron Rodgers.
- 52:03Yeah, Yeah. Now glad I'm not like Aaron
- 52:05Rodgers. Yeah.
- 52:06It's funny, isn't it? Yeah.
- 52:09Anyway. I think my first golf lesson if
- 52:11we if we don't go on because I want to put this in because I've
- 52:15been I've been obsessed with it and I've been like trying to hit
- 52:19balls on the range and like faffing my way around it.
- 52:21But I was just constantly watching videos of Rory and
- 52:25constantly watching videos of Tiger.
- 52:28Everyone else was like maybe Ian Poulter, bit of Justin Rose, Lee
- 52:31Westwood. At the time, I was like obsessed
- 52:33and Luke Donald, like the British players.
- 52:35So when I went for my first, like, official lesson, I was
- 52:38basically just copying them. And the guys like, just to like
- 52:42boost my ego and gas myself up. He was like, you sure you
- 52:46haven't played golf before? And like that for me, I was
- 52:48like, Oh my God, that's incredible because I'm like the
- 52:51ability to just like watch and replicate.
- 52:53And I think there's so much merit in that.
- 52:55I'm just trying to like see a movement and do it.
- 53:00I'm not going to talk about a book, but there's a, there's a
- 53:02book that I'm currently reading where it tries the same
- 53:05principles in tennis coaching where it's like, I'm not going
- 53:08to speak and talk. I'm not going to tell you how to
- 53:10do it. I'm just going to show you.
- 53:13And then you're going to try it. And the results are like night
- 53:16and day. Like if you just see something
- 53:18and you cognitively learn that way, the ability to just copy is
- 53:22is crazy. One of the really interesting
- 53:24things that I learn, and this will be probably the last thing
- 53:26I need to say about golf, is when it comes to driving, one of
- 53:30the things that you can learn from Tiger Woods is to not do it
- 53:33under the influence. I thought you were going to say
- 53:37something serious. Sorry.
- 53:39It was in my head like. Five years ago.
- 53:41I need to. Sorry, Tiger.
- 53:45Yeah, that's shame. That's tough.
- 53:47You're on Game Patrol. I am this week.
- 53:50As always, I'm very excited about my game and I've spent an
- 53:54embarrassingly long time prepping the game.
- 53:57I don't know if it's going to work though, and I haven't gone
- 53:59through quality control, which is Angus yet.
- 54:01But we're going to try a brand new game.
- 54:04We've never done it before. And I'm going to give Angus some
- 54:06audio clips. All right, So I'm going to play
- 54:09some audio that I've pre recorded on my phone.
- 54:12I'm going to do it into the microphone.
- 54:14So for you guys at home listening, you'll be able to
- 54:17also hear now it's famous commentary.
- 54:21So it's from sporting events. It might be matches, it might be
- 54:25different things, Olympics, football, all different sorts of
- 54:29things. Motorsport, there's going to be
- 54:31some questions related to that thing.
- 54:36But the first thing you're going to have to do is basically
- 54:38figure out what the event is from.
- 54:39OK, alright, so I like it. I think the first one I've had
- 54:43to crop them down because some were too easy.
- 54:45So I think the first one is quite famous.
- 54:47So hopefully you should be over here.
- 54:49I'm just going to crank the volume up and we're going to see
- 54:52what happens. So let's do this first one do.
- 54:59You know what, When you said that this is the game you were
- 55:01doing, I knew this was the one that was in my head straight
- 55:03away, I swear. You'll never see anything like
- 55:09this ever again, so watch it. Take it in.
- 55:16I was at my kitchen table watching this on an illegal live
- 55:20stream and Sergio Aguero it is. Scored a 90 + 3 minute goal to
- 55:28beat QPR and win Manchester City's first ever Premier League
- 55:32do. You know what year?
- 55:34Oh, that's going to be a bonus point because you got who scored
- 55:37and which team won, and you also got the team they beat.
- 55:42But you're still not sure if I know?
- 55:44What year? What year it happened?
- 55:47Every time I watch that on YouTube I actually get
- 55:49goosebumps and I hate football. Yeah, it's crazy.
- 55:52I'm going to go and I think it's between one of two years in my
- 55:55head. I think it was 2013.
- 56:01I really wanted you to get it right. 20/14/2012 That was
- 56:05honestly that was that was so sudden how quickly you got that.
- 56:09The quality was quite good. The quality on some of them is
- 56:11sceptical. So we'll go for the second one.
- 56:13Hopefully you at home can also hear.
- 56:15For those that weren't aware, the the audio clip started after
- 56:20the G of no. Well.
- 56:23But it like honestly iconic. Yeah, yeah, it's so good.
- 56:26OK, here we go. It's for the second one.
- 56:29To be take the yardage, set him up.
- 56:32He won't miss, he won't keep missing.
- 56:34No crucial kick up. That's the drop goal.
- 56:40I had to crop a lot out because it was too obvious, but there's
- 56:43a bit at the end. Which bit?
- 56:44At the end says drop goal, I'm going to assume that was Johnny
- 56:47Wilkinson hitting the drop goal in the 2003 World Cup final to
- 56:51win the World Cup for England. Again I unbelievable best moment
- 56:55of my life honestly. I I have.
- 56:57I told you I lost a tooth that day.
- 56:59Did you? I was rugby tackling my sofa out
- 57:03of excitement and then I was. This is such an elongated story,
- 57:08I'll try and leave the middle. I lost a tooth in doing so from
- 57:11excitement. At the same time I was eating
- 57:13Millie's cookie. I didn't realise I'd lost a
- 57:15tooth. I thought it was a chocolate
- 57:17chip that was too hard, so I spat that out and then later on
- 57:22I was like, just need to grow up.
- 57:23It's just a chocolate chip. So I went and ate it.
- 57:27You ate your. Tea.
- 57:27I ate my own tea. Oh my.
- 57:29God, I just swallowed it. We didn't need that story, but
- 57:32I'm glad we got it. I'm glad we got it, actually.
- 57:35I don't know why, but some of these like make me emotional.
- 57:38I get that. Especially the World Cup final.
- 57:41I'm not a very emotional person, but sport makes me quite
- 57:44emotional sometimes. One of them in particular made
- 57:46me really emotional. Anyway, this next one, you
- 57:48ready? Go for it.
- 57:51Last 100 meters. Can Mo Farah hang on to this?
- 57:55He's got eyeballs out now. Longest C.
- 57:58We're in second place of Gina there and the gap coming wide.
- 58:01You've got Trip though, and MO Farah's coming down the straight
- 58:04way and he's going to be A. OK, so I'm pretty sure this is
- 58:11the 2012 Olympics. Good start.
- 58:13It's obviously Mo Farah when he got his gold medal and I'm
- 58:17pretty sure it was the 5K that he was running on track, but I'm
- 58:21now concerned by your face that it was the 10K or I'm pretty
- 58:26sure those are the 2. Different.
- 58:27You're going to have to commit to one of them.
- 58:36He holds the British record for the 10K, doesn't he?
- 58:39Yeah. I'm going to go on the on the
- 58:41track, yeah. Don't think he holds on the
- 58:44road. But this was on a track, I'm
- 58:45going to say 10K. You should have backed.
- 58:48Yourself. No.
- 58:49Really. So I was.
- 58:51I was annoyed that you guessed it right first.
- 58:53OK. But I was very confident.
- 58:56Already won. He'd already won the 10K.
- 58:58OK so this was the 5K where he doubled it and was a double
- 59:02Olympic jump. Damn.
- 59:03OK, so I'm obviously gutted because I'm not getting the
- 59:05point, but in my head internally, I'm like, I got that
- 59:07right, Yeah. Yeah, that's fair enough.
- 59:10And I honestly, that's probably my most viewed video on YouTube.
- 59:14It's so embarrassed. I'll watch the whole 5K race.
- 59:16It's so good. OK, next one, then this one.
- 59:19This one's way harder. This one's pretty convoluted
- 59:21and. Wins the Japanese Grand Prix and
- 59:26I've got to stop because I've got to lump it by throat.
- 59:31So your job is to figure out who won the Japanese Grand Prix, But
- 59:36that's very famous, Mari Walker commentating and having to stop
- 59:40because he was so emotional that this person won.
- 59:43So I'm thinking obviously it being Murray Walker, who is a
- 59:47legend of BBC coverage for Formula One, he is actually not
- 59:53with the same he is dead. So this was a little while ago,
- 59:57which makes me think that this was back in a different time.
- 1:00:05Think links between potential nationalities.
- 1:00:11Why Murray Walker might be. Emotion.
- 1:00:16So obviously British would be a a solid guess, a key guess
- 1:00:20there. But at the same time, I'm
- 1:00:22wondering who it could be in that era.
- 1:00:27Because you'll kick yourself, but it's really hard.
- 1:00:33I don't think, because I'm thinking of British drivers of
- 1:00:36the era, I don't think it would be David Coulthard, but he is
- 1:00:40the most recent of that era. Yeah, so before him it.
- 1:00:43Was good, but before him then you'd have been looking
- 1:00:48potentially at people like Nigel Mansell and there's another one
- 1:00:55which I should immediately be thinking of.
- 1:00:59My dad would flake me in the head for this because I I can
- 1:01:03see him. I think he.
- 1:01:07Beat in this race he beat Michael Schumacher.
- 1:01:10I think Michael Schumacher rolled over second.
- 1:01:13God, there's there's British names of legends of racing like
- 1:01:16Jackie Stewart coming to mind, but it's not.
- 1:01:19I think that's era before me. Yeah, it is.
- 1:01:22Oh, this is horrible. You're going to be so annoyed, I
- 1:01:24think, because I think it's on the tip of your tongue.
- 1:01:29It really is on the tip of my tongue.
- 1:01:34No, this is horrible. And we know what I'm like with
- 1:01:37names on this podcast. I'm just like, this is my
- 1:01:40biggest weak point. I'm tempted to ask us to carry
- 1:01:46on and see if we can come back to it, really, but I don't know
- 1:01:50why you would allow me to do that.
- 1:01:53Yeah, you can have a think about it.
- 1:01:54OK. I don't know how much room
- 1:01:56you'll have to think with all of these other ones that are coming
- 1:01:59thick and fast. Nah, go on.
- 1:02:02Just tell me. Damon Hill.
- 1:02:06That's so annoying because like I said, I can see him.
- 1:02:08Yeah, yeah, yeah. I knew he had white hair.
- 1:02:10Yeah, yeah, yeah. From Yeah, yeah.
- 1:02:12As soon as he said Nigel Mansell, I was like, he's going
- 1:02:14to get there. Yeah, he's going to get.
- 1:02:16There, that's annoying. All right, this one easy.
- 1:02:18Must, must have. Oh my.
- 1:02:27Goodness. In your life, have you seen
- 1:02:42anything like? That some of the best commentary
- 1:02:47ever in your life. Tell me about it.
- 1:02:50Tell me everything you know about it.
- 1:02:52OK, so I I'm going to struggle to tell you which hole it was.
- 1:02:56OK, but this is Tiger Woods smash playing in the Masters and
- 1:03:02good start. He is just off the green.
- 1:03:05He is a shot down at this point on Sunday in red.
- 1:03:12Yeah, he he chips in. But like when he chips in, he
- 1:03:16chips this thing like 8 feet up the green slope and it just
- 1:03:21trickles down. And Nike paid for this to
- 1:03:24happen. But the Nike logo is on the ball
- 1:03:27that like staring directly at the camera when the ball stops
- 1:03:30on the edge of the car and then it has half a rotation and falls
- 1:03:33in. You can't write it.
- 1:03:34And it was just like Tiger, one of the best things I've ever
- 1:03:39seen. I've got goosebumps now thinking
- 1:03:40about it. I had goosebumps when I watched
- 1:03:42it this morning. Tiger went on to win that
- 1:03:43Masters. Do you know what year it was?
- 1:03:46This would be a complete guess I'm going to.
- 1:03:48Say like the era I'm. Going to say, is it like 2006?
- 1:03:532005 and it's the 16th which is probably my favorite hole I.
- 1:03:58Thought I was going to say 16th or 17th. 117th was par 3 so very
- 1:04:04good. Good.
- 1:04:05This one, this one's super niche so and it's quite long, but I
- 1:04:11think you're going to have to we're going to listen to all of
- 1:04:13it. Just bear with it.
- 1:04:15There's some weird bits. It's it's very chaotic and then
- 1:04:18I can kind of explain what's going on afterwards.
- 1:04:20But it's it's iconic for lots of different reasons and.
- 1:04:24Can absolutely fly. I just don't think they can do
- 1:04:28it, Dan. I mean, Jason Lezak has been
- 1:04:30there. How many times in his career has
- 1:04:33he anchored this free relay and medley relay?
- 1:04:35But I, I just don't think he can do it.
- 1:04:38He's trying to ride that wave as much as possible.
- 1:04:41Bernard is pulling away from him. the United States trying to
- 1:04:45hang on a second. They should get the silver
- 1:04:47medal, but Lezak is closing a little bit.
- 1:04:58Can the veteran chase him down and pull off a shack on?
- 1:05:14You OK? So straight away.
- 1:05:16There's it's chaotic. Straight away very chaotic.
- 1:05:20I'm, I'm not sure to be honest. I think it's quite clearly
- 1:05:24athletics. Quite.
- 1:05:26Clearly. Really.
- 1:05:28OK, maybe not, but I was going to say, I think it it sounds
- 1:05:31like it was a 4 by 400 relay and the American team pulled back a
- 1:05:39pretty tough you're. Close with the relay, America.
- 1:05:44You're wrong with distance and sport.
- 1:05:48A relay that isn't athletics, that is like a legit sport.
- 1:05:52Also Summer Olympics. Again, you're going to kick
- 1:06:02yourself. OK.
- 1:06:07I'll give you a clue in. Our Olympics for but well, OK.
- 1:06:10In the relay team, one of, if not the most decorated Olympians
- 1:06:17ever, I think ever American Olympian.
- 1:06:21Oh, is it swimming? OK, Oh, now I obviously remember
- 1:06:26it. It was.
- 1:06:28It was the 19. No.
- 1:06:31OK. I'm going to give it to you.
- 1:06:35And you shouldn't. Cool.
- 1:06:37I've been spending that. That gone.
- 1:06:38Yeah, so the back story is Michael Phelps at the 2008
- 1:06:45Beijing Summer Games. What's it then?
- 1:06:46Yeah, that country sounds so old.
- 1:06:48Yeah. Doesn't it?
- 1:06:49So the the reason why it's so chaotic, so set the scene.
- 1:06:54Michael Phelps has won seven golds and this is the 4 by 100
- 1:06:59free. This is his opportunity to win 8
- 1:07:02golds and this is the one where they're very unlikely to win it.
- 1:07:06They're like this is the touch and go on.
- 1:07:07We don't know. We don't think they can do it.
- 1:07:09The French team is very strong. The Australian team is very
- 1:07:12strong. Michael Phelps starts swims
- 1:07:16super fast. Whatever.
- 1:07:18I think on this last leg, this guy called Jason Lezak, who you
- 1:07:22can hear the commentators shouting and they this for me
- 1:07:25like this got me excited about swimming, got me into like
- 1:07:29watching swimming because the commentators just screaming.
- 1:07:32This guy's like Lezak, Lezak and he basically just turns around.
- 1:07:38They're all well be like well over world record pace and they
- 1:07:42claw back this victory and you hear the beeping out.
- 1:07:45That's Michael Phelps screaming and it's beeped out on the
- 1:07:48commentary. You can literally hear Michael
- 1:07:51Phelps screaming because he's like, it's on here and it's
- 1:07:54honestly, you should watch it on YouTube like it's I actually
- 1:07:56will. It's really cool.
- 1:07:57It's really, really cool. But that was the story of how he
- 1:08:00got his his eighth gold medal in Beijing.
- 1:08:03That's it, isn't it? All right, we've got a few more.
- 1:08:05We're going to keep them coming. So this is your next one.
- 1:08:10Oh, that's now recording your audio.
- 1:08:13I don't want that. We want this.
- 1:08:15It's going to be cool. It's not Jamaica that is.
- 1:08:22Superb. It's a you OK, Was that the 4 by
- 1:08:25100? Oh, wait, wait.
- 1:08:26And it's going to be gold for Jamaica.
- 1:08:28That would imply that it. Yeah.
- 1:08:31My laugh doesn't have to put you off, no.
- 1:08:33No. Is it a 4 by 100 world record
- 1:08:35set by Jamaica at the 2012 Olympics he loves?
- 1:08:38The relay at the moment, no, it's not.
- 1:08:40It's not a relay. Wasn't a relay.
- 1:08:50New world record. For you're close.
- 1:08:52You're very, very close. Is it just like Usain Bolt doing
- 1:08:55something in 200 meters? 100 meters?
- 1:08:57Really. I didn't think you'd give a gold
- 1:08:59to Jamaica like gold for Usain Bolt.
- 1:09:01So the commentary up until that point, he's literally said and
- 1:09:06here comes Usain Bolt, it's going to be gold for Jamaica.
- 1:09:09OK, It's a new world record and it's him again, 2008 Beijing,
- 1:09:13you know the one where he like he's pulling away and it's just
- 1:09:16like embarrassing. Yeah.
- 1:09:17Why in front is and he runs like a 97 something, I think.
- 1:09:22Is that the world record something around that 9.5858 is
- 1:09:27it? Yeah, it's whatever it is, it's
- 1:09:30ridiculous. Give.
- 1:09:31Me, give me one more. You can have.
- 1:09:33Three more if you want. I can't.
- 1:09:34I'm going to take one more. OK, fine.
- 1:09:37One giant leap for human. Endeavour.
- 1:09:41And you know, Kipchogi was right.
- 1:09:44No Cuban. Is.
- 1:09:45Limited Kipchogi breaks the two hour marathon.
- 1:09:50So good, I want to see that last last kilometer again.
- 1:09:54Like that gives me goosebumps. I saw a really funny Instagram
- 1:09:57rail the other day and it was like when you decide to put
- 1:10:00something on YouTube while you do the cleaning and it's a guy
- 1:10:02stood in front of the TV for two hours not doing anything, just
- 1:10:05watching. Yeah, so good.
- 1:10:07That's literally me. And people are like, how do you
- 1:10:09sit and watch the marathon? I'm like, it's captivating.
- 1:10:11Honestly, it is. Well, it's so good.
- 1:10:13I'm sorry for cutting your game shortly.
- 1:10:14You're literally going to be cut short in the studio.
- 1:10:16Oh, perfect. That's why.
- 1:10:18But I was actually really enjoying that.
- 1:10:19It's a really good game. We are.

- 1:12:03who's over 30, they're just going to be like, what are you
- 1:12:05talking? About I wonder if our like age
- 1:12:07dynamics is going to change. I, I, I, who knows?
- 1:12:11Who knows? I'm sure it's not going to be as
- 1:12:12big of a deal as I'm I'm making it.
- 1:12:14No, you'll be fine. You'll you'll still be young at
- 1:12:16heart don't worry. Just holding body part joints.
- 1:12:19Well, I've been that for a while, so nothing will change.
- 1:12:22Anyway, we look forward to seeing you guys in the next
- 1:12:25episode.
