- 0:05Hello, Merry Christmas, Happy New Year.
- 0:08Welcome back to our Mindsets podcast.
- 0:10I'm joined here by my elf Charles.
- 0:14You're looking very festive. I am, yeah.
- 0:16I've made a big effort. Yeah, this is apparently from
- 0:19the elf costume. The official Buddy the Elf
- 0:22costume rate that a lot. The elf spent a bunch of money.
- 0:24Off the the Father Christmas look, my hat's not really
- 0:27playing ball. It is, actually.
- 0:29It does say Coca-Cola on the bat if I decided to hide.
- 0:32Because they're not paying for this.
- 0:34No. And and you know, most people
- 0:36are listening so they wouldn't know that anyway.
- 0:38Today is. Don't mean just they're
- 0:40listening. They're they're definitely
- 0:41missing out on the. Today is the one to watch if you
- 0:46haven't watched. Before you can actually see my
- 0:47eyes for once. Yeah, we've decorated the whole
- 0:49thing like this is this is lovely, warm, wholesome, all of
- 0:52that. But we've got a lot coming up.
- 0:54We promised in the last episode we'd be doing multiple games.
- 0:56We'd be having a lot of fun with growing my gears.
- 0:58You guys have been really good this week and actually like
- 1:00sending us some things about the sort of New Year's Christmas
- 1:03period that annoy you. And I am ready to expose some of
- 1:07you, not expose others of you that requested to be anonymous.
- 1:11So first of all, we're going to start as usual.
- 1:15We're going to talk about what's happened, what's been going on.
- 1:19Do you want to? Take lots of I think we'll focus
- 1:23mainly on the Elite 15 races in Melbourne that happened last
- 1:27weekend. Yeah, so it was a classic major.
- 1:30You had the solos on day one and double s on day 2.
- 1:35And I mean. There were some good races like,
- 1:38some really good like and exciting races.
- 1:40Yeah, I think it's that's one of the first times that I've been
- 1:44really honestly excited to watch High Rocks.
- 1:47Yes, I completely agree. And with the women's race,
- 1:51again, we were starting to see the impact of the penalties and
- 1:54then also coming into the end. I mean, first of all, it's still
- 2:00top two, yeah, still pretty consistent, but they're having a
- 2:02good race with each other. But I think the the sort of 3rd
- 2:08to 7th is really where the racing's going on.
- 2:13Obviously great sea. Lucy Proctor, yeah, amazing
- 2:15qualification. And again, she seems to finish
- 2:17really, really strong, which is great.
- 2:18There's so many strong English athletes or British athletes as
- 2:22well that's consistent from the double S and the solos, both men
- 2:25and women, which is really cool to see as well.
- 2:27And I think that's another reason why I get so excited
- 2:29about watching it. But it's also like it's
- 2:32definitely developed over the last couple of years as an
- 2:34actual spectacle to watch with the farmers carry around the run
- 2:38loop as well. And yeah, I mean, it was, it was
- 2:40really fun to watch. I think one of the things that I
- 2:42remember us kind of slating or questioning at the beginning of
- 2:45this season was putting the penalty at the end and making
- 2:48them stay in the same bin, basically.
- 2:50But it is a great viewing, yeah. I'm I'm I'm a bit upset that
- 2:54isn't like a designated sin bin slash naughty step.
- 2:57They just have to stand in their warble section.
- 2:59Yeah, yeah, the, the, the, the Tim Vienish, Hunter McIntyre,
- 3:04that was, that was a good spec. I think that one of the
- 3:06interesting quotes, Hunter's very, very good at beating
- 3:08himself up before every, every race, which is, I think, part of
- 3:10his mind game, part of a confidence thing for himself
- 3:13going into that race. He made it very explicitly clear
- 3:16that the only person he had to worry about was Tim and himself.
- 3:20And if he dealt with himself, then Tim would have been dealt
- 3:22with as well. And in fairness, like, it's
- 3:26probably the least comfortable I've seen him racing.
- 3:29He looked like he was giving everything.
- 3:30He was really twitching hard. Yeah.
- 3:31And if you're not considering the two penalties, then, yeah,
- 3:34he went quicker. But you could see Tim in that
- 3:37last 15 seconds when Teen Hunter had like done a lot of hobble,
- 3:40took a couple of extra breaks and toyed with him because
- 3:43they've had a back and forth. Tiny Tim is the nickname that
- 3:45has given him. But incredible race from both of
- 3:48them. And then friend of the show,
- 3:52genuine loyal listener. So I hope that he's listened to
- 3:56this 1C. Unbelievable, unbelievable
- 4:00emotional finish man. Like like seeing the hard work
- 4:03pay off. So I watched the race live and I
- 4:06hope Charlie doesn't mind me saying this because he knows I
- 4:08massively respect him. But going into the last couple
- 4:12of stations but I was so gassed for him because he was doing so
- 4:15well and he was just climbing. But I was like, he might come
- 4:19top five in his first ever early 15 years Which?
- 4:20Is would being. Incredible.
- 4:22That's incredible. But I like, I had written him
- 4:24off. I was excited to see Sean Noble
- 4:25maybe qualify because he was, you know, up there at the
- 4:28beginning and it was, it was looking for a really good race.
- 4:31And then I saw Charlie did come in to the wool balls in 4/4
- 4:35right? And I was thinking, Oh well,
- 4:37like I. Mean he's he's done some
- 4:39hustling on the lunges. Like he hustled.
- 4:41Yeah, yeah. And then I'm, I'm going to
- 4:45butcher his name. Is it Van Zeeland?
- 4:46Yeah. So Van Zeeland, who's also
- 4:48British, came and also ran an incredible race, his first Elite
- 4:5215 race as well. And and also I, I don't want to
- 4:55be misquoted, but he's only recently.
- 4:58He's I think like his first pro sub 60 was only in the summer or
- 5:03something like that earlier this year.
- 5:04So it's like the rise from, oh, I'm quite good at this to now
- 5:09I'm racing at Elite 15 has happened over the course of a
- 5:12couple of months. Like he's obviously ridiculously
- 5:14talented and and very. Fierce.
- 5:15It's tough because when you're in that environment again, like
- 5:18you can, you can push so hard because you're racing against
- 5:21the very, very top. And for those other athletes,
- 5:24Hunter, Tim, Sean Noble, who have done quite a few Elite 15
- 5:27races, they know how to pay some Elite 15 race better.
- 5:30So maybe he, yeah, a little bit too much before the wool wolves
- 5:33because I imagine that he's done wool wolves God knows how many
- 5:35times. It's not like it's a weak
- 5:36station that he knows about. But then, yeah, it started to
- 5:40get a bit exciting that we obviously watched the drama of
- 5:43Hunter having to sit there in his sin bin and Tim finishing
- 5:46and then Hunter finishing. And it was nice to see Hunter
- 5:48still up there as well. And then all of a sudden, you
- 5:51just start to see that that that gap that was like 18 warbles
- 5:54when Charlie came into the warbles was now like down to
- 5:56four. And it was still like, OK, well,
- 5:58Runzini's going to win. Yeah, it's fine.
- 6:00I even, I even thought that all the way up until like 92 warbles
- 6:04or something and then he dropped and Charlie was like, well, I
- 6:07can see how many are on and I'm just going to drop and I'm going
- 6:11to beat you to 100. The other, the other, The other
- 6:13thing is that I think one of the big focus that Charlie has
- 6:16spoken about in his wobble training is what thinking about
- 6:19the cadence. So have you seen on the wobble
- 6:23targets this year, not only have they got your count and if it's
- 6:26a no Rep and they tell you how many no reps you've had, but you
- 6:29can see the time between each wobble.
- 6:31So I think Charlie pays relatively close attention to
- 6:35that as an indicator of when to take a rest.
- 6:37So when he was coming towards the end, I was like, I, I, I
- 6:39really hope it's fine, but he's not moving that quick.
- 6:43He took that short rest and again, it looked like Van
- 6:45Zeeland was going to take his rest and then carry on and win.
- 6:48But he rested clearly just long enough and ground out the last.
- 6:54What was it 1015 Rep something like that and and took it over
- 6:57the line and the reaction was everything that was amazing,
- 6:59honestly amazing. And he was just shunned like
- 7:02crazy big time. But couldn't be more proud for
- 7:04him and also couldn't be more deserved for someone who just
- 7:07like works so hard day in day out consistently.
- 7:10I think there'll be a lot of people that question how quickly
- 7:13he's arisen within the sport. I don't think a a lot of people
- 7:16would question if they saw the training sessions.
- 7:19I mean, he posts about them on his story quite, quite
- 7:21transparently sometimes, but just the sheer dedication to do
- 7:26horrible sessions and, and, and not even horrible.
- 7:29Like, he's very, very good at keeping the easy sessions easy,
- 7:32but the easy sessions are staring at all four hours just
- 7:34totally legs open. And he does that probably better
- 7:36than anyone. So as an insight on one of his
- 7:39more recovery based days, 4 hours on AC2 bike in the
- 7:42morning, two to three hours on a cross trainer in the evening or
- 7:46or on a stepper which is just crazy.
- 7:49I also the, the thing that I, I most respect is like he's such
- 7:52an advocate for the sport of high rocks and he is just
- 7:55genuinely a nice guy. And you see him at a high rocks
- 7:58race when he's going and he's there to do a job.
- 8:01He's got sponsors behind him. He's going to try and perform at
- 8:04his best so he can qualify for Elite 15 races, all the rest of
- 8:07it. But he still has time to smile
- 8:09at anyone. It doesn't matter who they are,
- 8:11what their level is, if he knows them or not, he has time for
- 8:14everyone. And I think that's like such a
- 8:16valuable asset for the sport of high rocks, so.
- 8:18If you're listening, if you're listening to the podcast and you
- 8:21don't know Charlie was on the podcast beforehand, it is now
- 8:25unbelievable to go back and listen to that episode because
- 8:27that was 18 months ago, before anyone knew who Charlie was
- 8:31other than the kid that weirdly raced probably a little bit too
- 8:34much. But even then, people didn't
- 8:35know him for that. He'd done one quick double s
- 8:39time with Jake Williamson, I think they didn't open double s.
- 8:42And it was like 5455 minutes, which he's now beating on his
- 8:46own. And they've done a pro double s
- 8:48in 49 minutes. So it's, it's crazy to see,
- 8:51Yeah, how he's built. And then that was just day one,
- 8:54Day 2 again, we had another excellent double s race from the
- 8:58women and Lucy and Sinead doing Lucy and Sinead things, killing
- 9:02it. And then back to the double s.
- 9:06Now if we're going to talk about Charlie again, we need to talk
- 9:10about Ollie, who quite frankly was seen as a bit of a hand
- 9:15break to Charlie in the in the race in Hamburg, which he was
- 9:20exposed for as an insight as well.
- 9:23Ollie's been on the podcast. I know Ollie relatively well.
- 9:26Not been the best couple of months of his life.
- 9:28It's been a very downward spiral, hard to control.
- 9:31But from those that have listened to that episode will
- 9:33know if anyone can probably handle that.
- 9:37Not that it was easy to, but he's the kind of guy to be able
- 9:40to stick himself out. And that is exactly what I saw.
- 9:44They changed up the strategy. They leant on Charlie a bit more
- 9:46on the stations and enabled Ollie to set the pace.
- 9:49But Ollie has been getting running specific coaching,
- 9:52working very, very hard on it. And I think they run the third
- 9:54fastest run splits from the the the.
- 9:57Tactics where Ollie was pacing Charlie on the runs and it was
- 10:02kind of that's that's how they're going to go.
- 10:03He just set the pace and Charlie sits in and then.
- 10:05And even then they were they were probably middle of the
- 10:07field until the lunges. And then again, for those that
- 10:10know Ollie know that lunges is something he loves quite
- 10:14sadistically. And and Charlie again, we saw
- 10:17his performance on the night before get on lunges.
- 10:18So they they made-up so much time, came into the Woobles and
- 10:23got the job done. This time they didn't have a
- 10:24penalty, which they also they did come into the woobles second
- 10:26in Hamburg. They had their penalty and
- 10:29they've crossed the line. So unbelievable weekend.
- 10:32Yeah, it's crazy. The Brits all round here or
- 10:34early 15 should be very I. I think the one thing that like
- 10:37shocks me always, but through consistent through the women's
- 10:41field and the men's field is just like the ability to recover
- 10:44and then repeatability. Like they can just do an elite
- 10:49solo race and then come in the next day and then race elite
- 10:53double S again. Question.
- 10:55Ridiculous. Do you think that should be
- 10:58changed? And second question as a follow
- 11:01up, do you think over time as harass continues to grow, more
- 11:04athletes will choose one because it all gets so?
- 11:07Competitive, there'll be more depth of field I'm sure and
- 11:10there'll be more competition to qualify for elite solo versus
- 11:15elite double s. I'm that's an interesting
- 11:17question on the scheduling. I, I can't answer that now.
- 11:22Like they demonstrate that it can be done back-to-back and
- 11:25they can perform at a ridiculous level back-to-back.
- 11:28Is it ideal? Probably not.
- 11:30You look at any other elite level sport, there's very few
- 11:33where they'll do 2 hard efforts one day after the other.
- 11:37I'm trying to think in in athletics might be a good
- 11:40example where they do rounds for the 200 meters across a couple
- 11:44of days and then the final and the weekend.
- 11:46I never, I don't think there's ever back-to-back days and
- 11:49that's like a 22nd effort versus a an hour effort or something
- 11:54like that. So I'd be interested to note, I
- 11:56mean there's, there's probably reasoning around why this it's
- 11:58scheduled like that. The the only reason that I sort
- 12:01of asked the question is over this week.
- 12:03I was thinking about tennis and, and in tennis you've got double
- 12:07s and you've got singles and not very often.
- 12:10I mean, it happens very often. Do you see the the champion of
- 12:13the singles also be a champion of double s?
- 12:15Unless you're Serena Williams, That's a really Murray's done
- 12:18it. That's a really interesting
- 12:19point actually. But like, that's because tennis
- 12:21is such a developed game that the the strategy and the
- 12:23tactics, there are players that are far better suited and
- 12:26therefore prioritise double s or singles over the other, but can
- 12:29still be good at the other one, but not necessarily worth.
- 12:32I mean, that's the talk. I think we take it away from the
- 12:35Christmas special and just start talking really specific about
- 12:39high rocks. But it's interesting that you
- 12:40mentioned that like you, you can be a specialist in double S
- 12:43tennis or a specialist in in playing on by yourself.
- 12:47You look at Tim Vienish, the guy goes and wins solos, but then
- 12:50look at their performance in double s.
- 12:52It's such an interesting like where were they in the double s?
- 12:55Were they like 7th or? Something that that's the only
- 12:57thing is, is Tim's double S partner is Ronchevich.
- 13:01And. So he raced with the different
- 13:02parts of this time. I think it was just a bit of run
- 13:05out. I also have a bit of a pet peeve
- 13:07about that. If you're really qualified, GAO.
- 13:09If you're not racing with the same partner, GAO.
- 13:12Yeah, I, I, I kind of. Someone else's didn't.
- 13:14Somewhat agree and there's opportunity for maybe someone
- 13:17else to race there, but also when you look at this as a
- 13:20professional sport, they've got to make their money somehow and
- 13:22if there's an opportunity to make money and and that's why,
- 13:25for example, Jake Williamson, he had already qualified, but why
- 13:28would you not race? It's an opportunity to go to
- 13:30Melbourne, race, get your sponsors in front of the cameras
- 13:33and also win some money. So it's like I understand you,
- 13:36there's like, but this is basically.
- 13:38The thing that's interesting about the sport is we've seen it
- 13:40go from almost like village cricket to like a pro league.
- 13:44And you have to understand that it athletes approach like a pro
- 13:46league. And if you're not used to
- 13:47watching it like that, even now, I'm looking back to my question
- 13:50or my point about Tim and I'm like, why did I even think that?
- 13:53Obviously that's yeah, that's fair.
- 13:54Yeah, yeah. But maybe also he's very, very
- 13:58good at working a certain stimulus or certain like time
- 14:02domain by himself. It's very continuous, the
- 14:05effort. And as a result, there's no real
- 14:07like specific spikes in intensity.
- 14:10Whereas in double s, the running's probably fairly
- 14:12similar, but you do the station work much faster.
- 14:15So that spike of intensity, maybe he's not as adapted to
- 14:19that as an athlete, but it's, it's really interesting to see
- 14:21the the kind of how that is changed between running by
- 14:25yourself and running in double s.
- 14:26Yeah, well, let's let's park it there.
- 14:29Let's park it there for fireworks for now for those that
- 14:32have been listening on two time speed or just skipped ahead now
- 14:34it's the time to stop. So something else that I found
- 14:38out about this week that I think is really interesting, famous, I
- 14:44mean well known gymnast within the UK, Max Whitlock making a
- 14:47comeback, is it? He's returning for well, to make
- 14:51an attempt for the Olympics 2028.
- 14:53So he's been a three time Olympic and world champion.
- 14:56He's looking to come back for LA 28.
- 14:59Some inside and. Holding on some inside
- 15:00knowledge, Yeah, I had the pleasure of actually meeting him
- 15:02earlier this. Week How old is he?
- 15:05Old enough, apparently, to have a wife and children.
- 15:08OK, that means nothing. It doesn't mean an awful lot.
- 15:11I'm going to say like similar age to us, if not a few years
- 15:13older. Which was what's his speciality
- 15:16again? He's a pommel, yeah.
- 15:18Yeah, yeah, which was actually something that he spoke about
- 15:20was really funny. He was doing a shoot with
- 15:22someone else because this was a shoot with Ronald that I got to
- 15:24meet him on, but he was doing a shoot with someone else.
- 15:26I think it was like BT and they got Oh Sky and they got him to
- 15:29get on the pommel horse and they asked him to do loads of stuff.
- 15:33And then they moved angle and they asked him to do the stuff.
- 15:36And he was like, guys, I know, I know you think I'm incredible as
- 15:40an athlete. Like, this is really hard.
- 15:43Can I have a rest? Which is really fun.
- 15:47But yeah, so interesting to see how he tells him his training
- 15:49because he let's not go back there.
- 15:52But he did a couple of high rocks earlier this year.
- 15:53He's got into running, which is the whole he was involved with
- 15:55runner. But yeah, very interested to see
- 15:57how he gets on. Give him a lot of support.
- 16:00Now we're going to move on to the first sort of game.
- 16:04This is our last episode that will go out before the end of
- 16:07the year. That's crazy.
- 16:08That is crazy in a year. You've been on the podcast for a
- 16:10year. I know that's mad.
- 16:12I'm still here. You are still.
- 16:13We're going to see because this is pretty much your Dick.
- 16:15OK, cool. So we're going to, we're going
- 16:17to go with a year. Review year, is it?
- 16:19Is it a year of review of the podcast?
- 16:21No. OK.
- 16:22It's a 2025 Sport Quick fire answer question review This is
- 16:2615 questions. OK, so we're going to start off
- 16:29with who won the 2025 FA Cup final?
- 16:32Is it a Manchester City, B Crystal Palace, C Chelsea or D
- 16:37Arsenal? I'm going a Man City.
- 16:43Incorrect. It was Crystal Palace.
- 16:44They beat Man City one nil. Shut up.
- 16:46Yeah. I know my football.
- 16:48OK right, good start. Which club won their first ever
- 16:53UEFA Champions League title in 2025?
- 16:58We will move away from football after.
- 16:59OK, Is it a German team? No, it's not British, I'll give
- 17:04you that. OK, I'm going to go with Ajax.
- 17:12No, Paris Saint Germain, I was going to go.
- 17:15PSG but I was, I was. I've seen they'd have probably
- 17:17already won it. And who won the Super Bowl in
- 17:202025? Is this meant to be quick for
- 17:26it? Give me one second.
- 17:27OK, They was it the Eagles not done?
- 17:33Do they beat the Chiefs? They.
- 17:34Beat the Chiefs 40 to 22 in the NB in the 2025 NBA Finals.
- 17:40Which team became champion? Lakers?
- 17:44No, it was the Oklahoma City Thunder defeating the Pacers in
- 17:47game seven. Went all the way to the end.
- 17:50This is going terribly. Which player was named NBA Cup
- 17:55MVP in 2025 as the Knicks won the Cup?
- 18:00That's not good for me. I know only.
- 18:02This is a tough question, to be fair.
- 18:05Are they American? Yes.
- 18:10I'm I'm just going to have to go with Steph Curry, even though.
- 18:14Yeah. It's not good.
- 18:15It's not a good I. Don't know if you'll if you'll
- 18:17know Jalen Branson. No, no.
- 18:18OK, cool. Who won the 2025 Ryder Cup?
- 18:23Europe, do you? Do you remember what the score
- 18:25was? Oh no, don't ask me that. 1513
- 18:30Europe won. I know they also racked up like
- 18:33A20K bar tab afterwards or no, It was like it was like 20 K
- 18:37each player or something some year.
- 18:39Yeah, that would have been a good question.
- 18:43OK. In the 2025 FIFA Best Awards, he
- 18:46was named Men's Player of the Year.
- 18:54Was it the young Spanish kid Jamal?
- 18:58No, no. He very good though.
- 19:00But it was Usman Dembele. How?
- 19:03How is that very good? Well, it's a great play.
- 19:06He was OK. He was up there.
- 19:07Yeah, OK. It's better than just saying
- 19:10Ronaldo. Yeah, much better, although he's
- 19:12still actually also up. There, 2026, I'm coming in hot
- 19:15with some football knowledge. You you just wait.
- 19:18In in the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy final, which country won?
- 19:25That's cricket for anyone that doesn't know what ICC is.
- 19:31It's not England. It's not.
- 19:33Is it West Indies? No, it was India being New
- 19:37Zealand by 4 wickets. How?
- 19:38Useless man. OK.
- 19:43You're like this question is too hard for you.
- 19:45Which player won the 2025 WTA Finals in dominant fashion?
- 19:51Woman. I've got no idea it.
- 19:59Was Elena Rabakina. I I don't, I wasn't going to
- 20:02guess that. OK.
- 20:03Fair enough. I'm just looking through these
- 20:06last questions. I'm going to be honest.
- 20:07I had some help generating this quiz from our sincere friend
- 20:11ChatGPT, and I think that somebody is too hard.
- 20:14What I'm going to give you, I'm going to give you one more.
- 20:19Based off my current current position on the quiz, so these
- 20:22are too hard. Which or or who set the second
- 20:26fastest time in history this year in the 400 metres at the
- 20:302025 World Athletics Championships?
- 20:38That's really tough for me. I can't remember his name.
- 20:43I believe we're looking for a woman.
- 20:44Oh, really? Yeah.
- 20:45OK. Oh, that might have helped.
- 20:49Yeah, she's American. Yeah, she's double barrelled
- 20:53surname. Correct.
- 20:55What's your half point for that? What if I was to tell you that
- 20:58her first name is a capital city of a different country?
- 21:02Sidney McLaughlin nailed it. Very good.
- 21:06OK, you get that one. One last question.
- 21:08Threw me off because I was, I was thinking for a man.
- 21:10Yeah, yeah, yeah. Sorry.
- 21:12So last question, I'm going to give you one more.
- 21:16There was a milestone in ultra running broken this year.
- 21:20What was the time that was beaten for the said distance?
- 21:23So the 100K world record, what was the time?
- 21:27What? Was the goal time for the 100K
- 21:29world record? It was sub breaking 4 bloody
- 21:46hell. No. 87916. 6 4 would be mental.
- 21:53Because I know why. That's also breaking the two
- 21:56hour 2 hour marathon, but twice and a half again.
- 22:01Yeah, OK, cool. So.
- 22:03I'm sure you all did better than me.
- 22:05Some of them, there'll be some people that don't have a what's
- 22:08going on in football, to be fair.
- 22:09So we've gone from one extreme of high rocks to 1 extreme of
- 22:12football. Let's bring it back.
- 22:14We are going into possibly the juiciest section of this
- 22:18podcast. It will be for sure.
- 22:20Grind my gears and grind my gears.
- 22:22This time is more about the festive period as well as
- 22:26fitness a little bit. And I'm going to let you kick
- 22:28off because I know you've got some that are fitness specific,
- 22:30not necessary festive specific. I needed to premise before we
- 22:35started. I was like, I don't really have
- 22:37any festive grind my gears. I'm not really big into the
- 22:40festive period, but I don't have any.
- 22:42And and then I was like, oh, I have one grind my gear.
- 22:45You just assumed that it was fitness.
- 22:47It's not even fitness related. I didn't think you had anything
- 22:50else about your personality. Shock No, When when I tell you
- 22:53you'll be like, oh, that's the other thing he does.
- 22:56I don't like it when people call flat whites flatties.
- 23:00I. Didn't know that was a thing.
- 23:02I wish it wasn't a couple of flatties.
- 23:04I'll have flatty please. I know flatty.
- 23:07No no it doesn't do that for me. So not fitness related, coffee
- 23:10related and it really grinds my gears.
- 23:12That's because all you drink is flat.
- 23:13White isn't. It and then people post it on
- 23:15their story like, oh, delicious flatty.
- 23:18Yeah, exactly. That's the that's the noise,
- 23:20that's the sound effect I make every time I see someone post.
- 23:22Gonna have a delicious flatty. Not on my Friday night at the
- 23:25bar. Yeah, nice.
- 23:27Had a yap. Yeah, had a yap.
- 23:29OK, so I'm going straight in with festive stuff.
- 23:33I'm sure. OK, so I'm going to start off
- 23:34with myself. Calendars, OK.
- 23:39People these these annoy you. These two annoy me.
- 23:42These are about calendars. Not about you specifically, no.
- 23:45People that. Eat their calendars early.
- 23:49What are you doing? What is the point?
- 23:51Yeah, yeah. We get this once a year and
- 23:53you've ruined it. And the second thing is people
- 23:57that RIP the doors off intentionally.
- 24:00You can't RIP the door. If it happens by accident,
- 24:02that's on the build quality of the manufacturer.
- 24:04But like, you can't be peeling them all off.
- 24:07I don't think I've ever ripped a door off.
- 24:09I like to I'm I'm very OCD with my advent calendar.
- 24:13Do you like to pop each little tab thing with your nails?
- 24:15Yeah. So it comes out perfectly.
- 24:17Yeah. And then I can fold the crease,
- 24:19so it's like I can then also close it back if I want to.
- 24:21Yeah. And then the foil that needs to
- 24:23all be removed. Yeah.
- 24:24So it's nice and neat. I don't do that.
- 24:26Oh, right, OK, that's too far. Me neither.
- 24:30One of these guys like it as well.
- 24:31Actually, on calendars coming, he's putting a far less effort
- 24:34into calendars now. Like, I've got a Terry's
- 24:37chocolate orange one. I'm going to call them out on on
- 24:39the door on the chocolate and the thing behind the chocolate
- 24:42are always the same thing everyday.
- 24:44Yeah. So like if I get a present, it's
- 24:46a present on all three. And it's been consistent.
- 24:48I thought, oh, that's weird. No, every time.
- 24:51I think, but I think people are moving away from chocolate
- 24:54advent calendars and going towards thing advent calendars
- 24:58where you can just like, I don't know, you get like a beauty
- 25:01product every day and it's like this really like elaborate big.
- 25:04So expensive. It it ridiculously.
- 25:06I know someone that has spent over £250 on one of those.
- 25:11Yeah, I mean, that does sound excessive.
- 25:13The one that did look quite good was Bon Man Mon.
- 25:16You know, the, the jam company that makes it, there's like a
- 25:19mini jam pot in every in every day.
- 25:22And they do like like a Nutella spread and like a Biscoff
- 25:26spread, but their own brand that that would do it for me.
- 25:29I reckon I that's as far as I'd go.
- 25:31He's he's a multi $1,000,000 idea, which would enable the
- 25:36athletes to actually be paid because no one knows how it's
- 25:38going to happen. But if the enhanced games get a
- 25:41calendar and every day they gave you a different peptide because
- 25:45peptides aren't banned yet, they're allowed.
- 25:47Kind of yeah. Then I.
- 25:50They would. Sorry, just the rebrand or
- 25:52complex? Yes, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 25:54The number I've started to get a lot of stuff on my social feed
- 25:57of like a non glamorous day in the life of a social person.
- 26:01And it's like wake up, stretch, eat my six eggs, do all of this
- 26:05stuff like that prepares them to be really healthy.
- 26:08And then it's like do my peptides?
- 26:10And it's like. You lost me.
- 26:12You had me, and then you lost. Surely that's a joke, yeah?
- 26:15I I don't think it is by the level.
- 26:16Of them really. Well, yeah.
- 26:19Have you got any? No, keep on coming.
- 26:20OK, I'm going to bring in some. We.
- 26:23So we had one person write in and we'll give them a shout out.
- 26:26Dez, how busy Christmas is in London and at the moment, have
- 26:32you seen the videos online of Oxford Street and Regent Street?
- 26:36You can't move, you can't get off the train on the platform
- 26:39because the queue goes up to the gates and the queue is at the
- 26:41gates because you can't leave the gate because it goes and it.
- 26:45Is. The most over stimulating
- 26:49situation I can imagine being in.
- 26:51I'm not good with large crowds of people, no, but I think it's
- 26:53one of the one reason why I just don't enjoy Christmas, because
- 26:58it's so. And then that's why I do all of
- 27:00my shopping on like Christmas Eve at 10:00 PM and everyone
- 27:04there is exactly the same person as me.
- 27:06And we're like, we know. We know why we're.
- 27:08Each other's way. We need to find the thing.
- 27:10Yeah, and then we just need to get.
- 27:11We just need a thing. It doesn't matter what it is.
- 27:13We just need something to give to someone.
- 27:15Something that says I thought about you for an instant.
- 27:17That's actually grind my gear. I was thinking on the way here
- 27:19just presents for the sake of presents because it's just that
- 27:22it's it's a thing that you do. So it's like, I'm just going to
- 27:25get this because I need to gift it.
- 27:28And then because I'm a people pleaser, if that happens to me,
- 27:31I'm going to be like, Oh my God, thank you so much.
- 27:33I love this. This is the best present ever,
- 27:34even if I hate it. So there is a really really
- 27:37interesting fact. This does need fact checking
- 27:39because I'm calling this from my memory but.
- 27:42You've made this. Gift giving.
- 27:44Yeah, Secret Santa. Because that's a massive thing
- 27:46at workplaces. There is.
- 27:50The average spend on a Secret Santa present is 18 lbs.
- 27:54For people between the age of 20 and 30, it goes up to 22 lbs on
- 28:01average spent on Secret Santa presents, but 40% of Secret
- 28:05Santa presents end up in the bin.
- 28:07Really. Yeah, 40%.
- 28:08Which is wild when you consider how many people, not even just
- 28:13in that age group, but how many people are buying Secret Santa
- 28:15presents. And then you imagine how much
- 28:17money of that is literally being thrown in the bin.
- 28:18Yeah. I like, that's crazy.
- 28:20I do, I I like the idea of doing Secret Santa in like a family
- 28:24setting as well, because when you have lots of siblings or a
- 28:27big family and it's just like, I don't know what to, if you just
- 28:31get one present or a present for XML people and then just Secret
- 28:35Santa it, that's way, way better.
- 28:37Yeah, better. OK so there is one other thing
- 28:40that ties into this stupid idea for presents, which is another
- 28:43grime and gear of war. I hate cards.
- 28:47Cards. I think cards are the biggest
- 28:51waste of time and money and I hate them.
- 28:55Yeah, it's passionate. Passionate.
- 28:57Yeah, and what really pisses me off is when I need to buy a card
- 29:02for someone. I, I, yeah, I think we need to
- 29:05unpick this more. This is Christmas cards,
- 29:07specifically old birthday cards. General, general cards, to be
- 29:10honest. Wow.
- 29:11So if I buy a card, there's there's very few people which
- 29:14I'll go through the effort of buying a card for.
- 29:16And if I do, 50% of the time it's going to be mocking that I
- 29:19have to buy a card for them. So like I've bought cards that
- 29:21say I hope you enjoyed this card.
- 29:25Something like that. I've also given when someone
- 29:28someone has requested that I get them a card.
- 29:30So I literally gave them a playing card because I was like,
- 29:32I'm not buying you a card. It's wasted because they're like
- 29:343 lbs to say something generic and I'm stood here giving it to
- 29:39you. Guess who it's from?
- 29:40But surely you're writing something that's not generic in
- 29:43the card. Happy Christmas.
- 29:45Yeah, well, that's your problem. Think of something nicer to say.
- 29:50I'm here, I'm telling you. Lovely to see you.
- 29:52How's your year then? I think you want a drink.
- 29:54There's like a generational thing where sending Christmas
- 29:57cards was a big thing and receiving Christmas cards was a
- 29:59big thing and I just, I don't do that.
- 30:02It was. Sick in primary school?
- 30:03I don't know if you had that. Where it's like popularity
- 30:06contest basically. Yeah, yeah, you'd go to your
- 30:07little tray in the classroom and if you have like 10, be sick.
- 30:12But you know me there with one. I'm just, I think considering
- 30:15that you spend like 3 lbs on a on a piece of card that probably
- 30:19says very little in it, and on the front has got the most
- 30:23generic unfunny joke, can I not put that towards your present
- 30:27instead? Yeah, I know it's only 3 lbs,
- 30:29but that could be the difference between something that's going
- 30:31to break and something that's not if I'm doing a secret.
- 30:32Sound I I quite like cards, I thought.
- 30:35You and a rider eye with me on that.
- 30:37I yeah, if I'm going to give a present, I'm not necessarily
- 30:41going to give a card as well. Maybe it's one or the other, I
- 30:45don't know. It depends the context.
- 30:46I'm going to segue what I said into another grind my gear that
- 30:49we had written in. This one's staying anonymous,
- 30:51not for any reason, they just requested it.
- 30:54But people that say Happy Christmas, not Merry Christmas,
- 30:58Apparently that grinds their gears.
- 31:01I'd be interested to know where they're from because ones must
- 31:04be an Americanism. I don't know, Merry.
- 31:06Christmas. Yeah.
- 31:08I feel like I grew up saying no, I never said happy Christmas.
- 31:13That's just. Wrong, I think, I don't know.
- 31:15I think I've used both really. I think it's Merry Christmas and
- 31:17a Happy New Year. Oh, for sure.
- 31:19That's why. Yeah, yeah.
- 31:20I would never say happy Christmas and a happy New Year.
- 31:22That's happy. Christmas and a Merry, that's
- 31:24one. But yeah.
- 31:26I think on it's own it's like it's OK, but I also do
- 31:28understand. I don't hate it.
- 31:30Yeah, but I understand why someone would dislike it.
- 31:35What else we got? I put one on my story today to
- 31:38prompt a few of these. But wrapping paper that doesn't
- 31:40RIP I despise is similar to the God I despise the fact I'm very
- 31:45environmentally friendly. I despise the fact that we as a
- 31:50a species have gone from paper because it was cheap and it was
- 31:57recyclable, which was a convenient thing as we started
- 31:59recycling, to finding a way to make plastic cheap enough that
- 32:04now we have to throw everything away.
- 32:06That pisses me off so much. I don't know if I've experienced
- 32:10wrapping paper that doesn't RIP. You definitely, well, you'll
- 32:13realise it on Christmas now the pretty much everything.
- 32:16Is that it is plasticky and doesn't like properly turn.
- 32:18Yeah, yeah. But.
- 32:19But I'm the same with my like when I open a present I'm like I
- 32:23don't really. Are you careful?
- 32:24Yeah, I like undo the. This is why you wouldn't know.
- 32:29I imagine the last five years they've all been that.
- 32:31Yeah, maybe. Do you really use the wrapping
- 32:33paper? No.
- 32:35Then why are you being careful? Because then it makes more space
- 32:38in the bin. Oh my God, that is the oldest
- 32:41thing you've ever said to me. You're so ready to be the guy at
- 32:45Christmas that goes around and clears everyone's.
- 32:47Wow. Folding everyone else.
- 32:49'S that's the thing. Fortunate enough that I grew up
- 32:51when my mum had like a fireplace and the best thing was burn it.
- 32:55Yeah, you just take it and throw it on the fire and why not?
- 32:57Can't do that. Right, hang on, this has
- 32:59reminded me of something. This is probably some childhood
- 33:02trauma or something. Terry's chocolate orange.
- 33:05The the Terry's chocolate orange that you get as the actual ball.
- 33:08Yeah. Does that now come pre broken?
- 33:12No, I. Don't think so.
- 33:14You have to still crack. Yeah, OK, yeah.
- 33:16Someone said to me the other day that it it comes pre split into
- 33:20segments so you don't have to. Now mine's still.
- 33:23I had one recently and it still had the thing in the middle.
- 33:25OK, because, because. That would entirely change my
- 33:27want to buy this. Yeah, because then I I went on
- 33:29to explain that that was a thing at Christmas.
- 33:31Where we would always give my granddad a Terry's Chocolate
- 33:36Orange because that was his favorite chocolate, and then
- 33:38he'd always crack it open. Well, actually, it wasn't him.
- 33:40It's my. Dad on someone's head.
- 33:41On my head, yes. And that was, that was like my
- 33:44childhood memory of Christmas. And I was like, well, they're
- 33:46taking that away from their. Slogan.
- 33:48And to be fair I haven't seen this recently so maybe I am
- 33:50wrong, but it was always don't tap it, whack it.
- 33:53Whack it. Yeah, yeah.
- 33:54It was cool. I know.
- 33:55Yeah. Yeah.
- 33:58OK. Then the next one we had someone
- 34:02write in was people that eat their Christmas dinner in a
- 34:06weirdly specific order or mash it all together.
- 34:10Neither apparently is allowed. I've seen.
- 34:12I've seen both complained about separately, but I've never seen,
- 34:15so I assume this is just like like.
- 34:19But that's like a generic one. If you see someone have a burger
- 34:21and chips and they eat all the chips 1st and then smash the
- 34:24burger or vice versa, are you. I'm going to take a bite of my
- 34:27burger and then eat my chips and then have a bit more burger and
- 34:30then have some chips I. Have to paste it.
- 34:32I have to paste my way through the burger.
- 34:33See, I always. Chips always eat.
- 34:36I'm not even going to say this on the Internet.
- 34:38You always eat all the chips first.
- 34:40Always the burger 1st and then I eat the chips.
- 34:42No, because then you I. I have to take specific items
- 34:46out of the burger to eat first. Like what?
- 34:49Like I'll do any sort of vegetable like lettuce and
- 34:52tomato, onion, if that's in the burger, I like it, I'll still
- 34:55eat it, but I don't want it in the burger when I eat.
- 34:58I reckon you should never have said that.
- 35:01I safely say that, actually. Yeah, you should definitely
- 35:03never have said that. OK, well, we're going to move on
- 35:08to food then, because we've been talking about food, Yeah.
- 35:11I think so. But we've got some interesting
- 35:15things. We've had some suggestions.
- 35:17I believe in a few episodes ago when we had Millie on, we were
- 35:22talking about meal deals she massively lost by getting a
- 35:26Waitrose one that was literally just Coronation Chicken
- 35:29rebranded. But I mentioned the pigs in
- 35:35blanket sandwich that Sainsbury's made completely
- 35:39disappointed me because the cranberry sauce tasted like
- 35:45Jelly. And like, I'm not with American
- 35:47Jelly. I'm talking like Jelly, Jelly,
- 35:49Jelly, Jelly. It was weird.
- 35:51Jelly, Jelly. So what I've got here is I've
- 35:53got Tesco's version, which a listener told me was much
- 35:58improved. Wait.
- 35:59Where was yours from? Sainsbury's.
- 36:01The original one that I tried, the first pigs in blanket
- 36:03sandwich that I tried of the season was from Sainsbury's.
- 36:05Yeah. So I'll, I'll let you take.
- 36:07I've been doing a lot of festive sandwiches from Sainsbury's
- 36:09recently. OK, so this is Tesco, this is
- 36:12Tesco's pigs in, well, pigs under blankets.
- 36:15Wait, hang on. So I'm going to go from one
- 36:17side, but when you look at the profile, look how much of the
- 36:21salche is on one side? The what?
- 36:23Salche? Is that source Wow.
- 36:25OK, that grinds my guess what we was first impressions.
- 36:33When did you buy that? I'm going to go ahead and guess
- 36:37it's a bit dry. No, that bread is stale.
- 36:40OK I bought this literally like 2-3 hours ago from the French as
- 36:45well. Wasn't in a reduced bit.
- 36:50I'm very much sure what you mean though.
- 36:52That was the first thing that struck me.
- 36:53OK, I want to know what you think about the flavour of that.
- 36:58The sausage is good. I like the sausage actually.
- 37:00That's a proper Cumberland sausage.
- 37:01Bread that's. The bread is laid.
- 37:03Out. That's zero out of 10 for the
- 37:05bread. It would be better without the
- 37:07bread. The cranberry sauce.
- 37:09The cranberry sauce wasn't cranberry sauce though.
- 37:11It was. It was still the consistency is
- 37:14more Jelly like but I assume that's just how they have to
- 37:16make it. Preserve it so you can't be
- 37:18overly critical. I would say it's got a better
- 37:20flavour. It doesn't taste.
- 37:22It doesn't taste like. Better than the same food one by
- 37:24far, yeah. Yeah, that's non comparable
- 37:26though. The sausage is very good, yeah.
- 37:28And then the bacon is a bit amiss, to be honest.
- 37:30It's there, but it's not really. Doing much?
- 37:32Yeah, but that's the same with every bacon sandwich you buy
- 37:34from A. Yeah, from a meal up next is
- 37:37something that I wish I had found.
- 37:39And people mentioned that I absolutely must get it because
- 37:41the last and again, I don't know if you remember, but I got the
- 37:45apples strewed or the apple pie thing, which we agreed would be
- 37:49better as an air fryer. And I have since tested that it
- 37:52is really good. Like when do you have an air
- 37:54fryer at work if you're doing a meal dip.
- 37:56So I've gone ahead and got my go to meal deal snack at Christmas
- 38:02time, which is it does look good.
- 38:04The port pie cool, but it's got cranberry in it as well.
- 38:07It's dusted with some sort of pink.
- 38:09So I've seen the dust thing on there's a, there's a Cesco.
- 38:13This is Tesco. OK, so Sainsbury's do like a
- 38:15sausage, a festive sausage roll then it has the same dust thing
- 38:18on the top. I don't know what the dust thing
- 38:19is. But we're going to do some,
- 38:22maybe nothing SMR. Well, also Sainsbury's.
- 38:24You can, you can continue Sainsbury's.
- 38:26Do I believe a pork pie that has stuffing in it?
- 38:31I don't. I don't rate that at all.
- 38:38I really like pork pies. But the sweetness in that is
- 38:42unbelievable. Yeah, that's.
- 38:44This should be an all year round thing.
- 38:46They might do it. They won't.
- 38:48I've been begging for the last three years silently.
- 38:51But isn't it based off like sales?
- 38:54Go and buy more. Yeah, true.
- 38:55Maybe. Even the pastry is good.
- 38:57I can freeze these, I'm just having a year's supply of well,
- 39:00I have a drawer in my freezer. You go up to the employee there.
- 39:02Is there any more in the back? Please just bring the box.
- 39:04OK, you've demolished that. That's.
- 39:07Yeah, you don't last long with me.
- 39:09How tiny. Do you know what's bad though?
- 39:11This goes back to our grandma. Is last time calories and poor
- 39:14pies. Hi, absurd.
- 39:17I'm pretty sure each one of these tiny little ones in a sack
- 39:20packet is like 300. But that's got to be the butter
- 39:22and the pastry shorting, yeah. Did you also know Bit like
- 39:25champagne but the British version?
- 39:27You can't have a melted Mowbray pork pie that isn't made or you
- 39:30won't have a yeah. Can't claim it's a melted
- 39:32Mowbray pork pie unless it's made in melt out of Mowbray.
- 39:35I've been there. They have a lot of pie.
- 39:37Pie shops like Proper. Fat Jelly on the top, yeah.
- 39:40Yeah. And the problem with what I just
- 39:42previously said about calories is that I will never buy one of
- 39:44those because they are massive. And you have to have like a
- 39:46slice of it right whilst we munch this.
- 39:49Now for those of you that were watching and enjoying us eat
- 39:54weirdos, but whatever. I have got something which I
- 39:58became aware of yesterday, but it's apparently viral on social
- 40:01media. So I've made it.
- 40:03I've had a wonderful assistant behind the camera deliver it.
- 40:08I'm not going to tell you what's in it.
- 40:12But I want you to take a bite of it.
- 40:14Cool. Make sure you get a good bit.
- 40:15I'm open to try anything. I'm going to pass it to you.
- 40:18I won't eat it weirdly. OK, go for it.
- 40:24When you tell me first if you like it and 2nd what you think's
- 40:27in it. I'm so sorry to everyone who's
- 40:38just listening on Spotify now. So I mean chewing.
- 40:41We've got air from our widow, so it's fine.
- 40:46I'm trying to like the taste is like mincemeat, like mince pie
- 40:53mince like spiced, kind of fruity, that kind of vibe.
- 41:00I don't even know what it's in a mince pie, but that.
- 41:02Would you eat more of that? Like I mean you can, but would
- 41:05you? I mean, if someone presented
- 41:10that to me as a meal, I'd finish it, OK.
- 41:14If I was really hungry now, I'd probably have some more.
- 41:17I don't know if I'd go again, OK.
- 41:19So this is a. It was presented an open
- 41:23sandwich, but I thought why not just close it?
- 41:27So this is bread with. Well, I need to go again.
- 41:33You go again. I'm.
- 41:34Going to wait for you to actually take a bite again.
- 41:36So it's bread with a bit of butter on it, then some bacon,
- 41:40then on top of the. Bacon.
- 41:42I didn't get bacon the first time.
- 41:44We have Christmas pudding. Shut up.
- 41:48Christmas pudding, then some cheese and then butter and
- 41:52ready. Yeah.
- 41:55So that is a there's slices of Christmas pudding.
- 41:57Shut up. Yeah, that is, do you know what
- 42:01now? This conversation with someone
- 42:02very, very recently. I hate Christmas pudding but and
- 42:08but the idea of like a Christmas cake and cheese.
- 42:11I like that sweet, savoury kind of vibe.
- 42:13I don't mean that Christmas cake either, but that's way better
- 42:16than Christmas cake. Oh, Christmas pudding.
- 42:18Yeah, Yeah, I had. I think I've got PTSD from
- 42:21Christmas pudding because one time I ate too much at school
- 42:25and then I was sick on on someone's shoes.
- 42:29Well, maybe I've just got you over it.
- 42:30Maybe we'll start liking it again.
- 42:31But yeah, so yeah, that's pudding.
- 42:34Christmas pudding sandwich. You tricked me.
- 42:36Hit or miss? Yeah, Miss.
- 42:38Oh, fuck. But like I, I, I was pleasantly
- 42:44surprised. It's kind of fun.
- 42:45Yeah, kind of fun. I have something as well.
- 42:47Let's do it. Right.
- 42:50Do you know? Do you know what?
- 42:51Oh, no, unfortunately, you know, yeah.
- 42:57So you're not a fan? Right.
- 42:59So every year, and this is, this is normal, but every year
- 43:03somebody somewhere comes out with and that is the flavour of
- 43:08the season. And we've had like it, we've had
- 43:11hot honey recently, pistachio flavoured things which everyone
- 43:14pretends that they love and think is so ingenious.
- 43:17And this year, we've had the gingerbread.
- 43:20Gingerbread everything. Yeah, I'm not the.
- 43:22Biggest fan of ginger as it is one thing that I have to be
- 43:26happy about. Biscoff flavouring and Biscoff
- 43:28spread stayed managed to outlast its season.
- 43:31But gingerbread not my thing so. We've got gingerbread Kit Kat.
- 43:36I saw these knocking about the other day, and I mean, I'm kind
- 43:39of into Kit Kat. I'm.
- 43:40Going to be honest, there's there's three components to this
- 43:42snack and two of them, I'm not a fan of wafer.
- 43:46I'm not a fan of wafer. It's cardboard.
- 43:49I get that. Oh, it's quite gingerbread, E.
- 43:54Oh wow. Why right?
- 44:00Why though? Yeah, I you're never buying that
- 44:04over a normal kit cap, ever. You're not buying it anyway
- 44:06because you you. Bought an 8 pack.
- 44:09That's that's my main. Problem.
- 44:11There wasn't a shot. The shop didn't have the little
- 44:14tray. Though I looked and then I went
- 44:16back to look again after I picked this up because I was
- 44:19like, if I don't like it, I've committed to an 8 pack.
- 44:21Oh. My gosh, that is.
- 44:23I'll take them to the gym, leave them at the gym, someone will
- 44:25have them. But so the reason why I went
- 44:27into the shop was because allegedly someone had told me
- 44:31that as part of the meal deal, you could get a mini box of
- 44:35celebrations. If you've seen those tiny like
- 44:37cardboard boxes of celebrations as your snack in a meal deal.
- 44:43Is that a thing? Apparently.
- 44:44So I was like, that's. Genius.
- 44:45I'm gonna go and investigate. You probably get 3 celebrations
- 44:48in that little box. But I was like, yeah, if we if
- 44:50that's a snack option, I'm getting that as a snack.
- 44:52Can you can find it. No, I'm also gonna say must have
- 44:55been with a single ginger. Risky game.
- 44:57Yeah, that's a very risky game, and it's a game I think we
- 44:59should explore. This is incredible.
- 45:01It's incredible. Let's see what you've done
- 45:03there. The We're gonna play a game now
- 45:05and the game is going to be drafting, so we're going to do a
- 45:08draft. So for those that have grown up
- 45:10in English sport and don't know much about American sport, in
- 45:13American sport, they have a draft system in most of their
- 45:16professional leagues where each year usually the worst team from
- 45:19the previous season gets the first pick and they get to pick
- 45:23who they think is the best buyer.
- 45:24And then it goes in that order, in reverse order.
- 45:27And then in Round 2, the kind of order of who picked reverses
- 45:33confusing you just made that really confusing.
- 45:36Essentially, though, what we're going to do is because we're not
- 45:38professional league and we don't have last season to rely on,
- 45:41we're going to toss a coin to decide who goes first.
- 45:45Now the first thing we're going to be drafting then is
- 45:49celebrations. Interesting.
- 45:50So we're. Going to be doing it in order.
- 45:54I've forgotten what the celebrations are and I thought
- 45:57we had a CHEAT SHEET but we don't, so I'm just going to go
- 45:59off my memory, OK? Have you got a list?
- 46:02Do you know what you're going for?
- 46:03I have. I have my first round.
- 46:05First click for sure. OK, But we have to we have to
- 46:07flip the coin first. Yes.
- 46:09All right, so who's calling it? You are when it's in the air.
- 46:11When it's in the air, Yeah. Heads.
- 46:15It's tails. It's tails.
- 46:16Using the first then first round pick.
- 46:19I'm going to be thrown by my helper a CHEAT SHEET so I can
- 46:22thrown. Yeah, amazing.
- 46:24OK, right. So we've got the celebrations
- 46:27hiding it from. OK, so first round, first pick.
- 46:32First round, first pick. What are you going for?
- 46:34Maltesers had to be, really. There's no other five star
- 46:40quarterback. Right, see, this is this is
- 46:41tough. I'm going to play strategy game
- 46:42here. I think I'm going to go for the
- 46:43Galaxy Caramel. That's yeah, strong play.
- 46:48OK. I just know how much judgement
- 46:51there's going to be on the Internet for the mix.
- 46:53I'm just going to have to play it safe.
- 46:56I'm going to go then regular Galaxy.
- 46:58I think that was the right move. That was the right move, I
- 47:02think. I I want to play to what my
- 47:06preference would be. But then you know you're going.
- 47:08Then I know I'm going to get hate, so I'm going to play it
- 47:11safe with my next two options and I'm going to go for Mars.
- 47:15That was your safe option. That was my safe option.
- 47:18I think a lot of people are happy with the Mars.
- 47:19Mars and Milky Way are so similar and I, I'm, I do, I am
- 47:24into Milky Way. I'm going Twix.
- 47:27I'm going Twix. I didn't think you were going to
- 47:29pull the Twix card. Yeah, I had Twix.
- 47:30This is so underrated. I literally.
- 47:32Just had one before. I was like wow, damn, OK, in
- 47:37which case I'm going for my other option.
- 47:39And this is tough because it's somewhat controversial.
- 47:42I know what you're going for. I'm going for the Snickers,
- 47:45Really. Yeah, I rate a Snickers higher
- 47:46than a Mars bar personally, but I know that some people like the
- 47:50because a Mars bar is a Snickers without the the nut.
- 47:52Yeah, without the nut. So like, that's why I've gone
- 47:54for the safe auction and going Mars higher, even though you
- 47:57prefer Snickers, even though I prefer.
- 47:59Snickers as well. Yeah.
- 48:01So the the problem is I like all the celebrations equally.
- 48:05Equally. Yeah, that's maybe, maybe other
- 48:07than the Maltesers. Yeah, but they're all good.
- 48:09They're all good. Even the Bounty in my old age,
- 48:14because that's that was like the the one that always get leftover
- 48:17and it was like your mum and your dad would just clean up at
- 48:19the end of Christmas because they had two years, they all
- 48:21left. So in my head it's like an old
- 48:23person chocolate. But I quite like Bounty.
- 48:25So you're going to draft the bounty?
- 48:28I don't know if it's better than Milky Way, if I can have it for
- 48:31the rest of my life. Yeah, Yeah, I'm going to.
- 48:35I'm going to draft bounty, you know.
- 48:36That saved me Milky Way. I'll take that.
- 48:39Because The thing is, I I don't hate bounties.
- 48:44Yeah, but again, they're still my last option.
- 48:47Really. Yeah, I don't.
- 48:48I'm not mad when there's a ball for the bounties at the end.
- 48:50I still have one but like. Take a bounty.
- 48:53If I see anything else, who's going first?
- 48:55Yeah, interesting for sure. I don't know why I just that was
- 48:59just instinctual. Is that a word?
- 49:01Overall, I've won. Do you think are you doing?
- 49:05I definitely won. Well, there needs to be like a
- 49:07third party opinion. If you're this is you guys, so
- 49:10if you first of all, because this is the first thing we're
- 49:12drafting, let us know in the comments or drop us a message
- 49:15who you think now, right? This is deeply important because
- 49:18we're both very competitive, as you can hear by the fact that
- 49:20he's still going on about it when he's clearly lost.
- 49:22Twix and Snickers. The next thing we're drafting is
- 49:27roast or Christmas dinners, actually.
- 49:31Right, I've been LED astray here because you told me roast
- 49:33dinners. OK, roast dinners, but it's
- 49:35Christmas, so we're doing Christmas dinners.
- 49:36Well, that OK? Well, you're.
- 49:38Just going to have to adapt from the fire.
- 49:39Be an athlete, OK? That's come.
- 49:42The way we're going to do this is we have a number of things
- 49:44that you have to pick. We'll again toss the coin to see
- 49:47who goes first, but we need to pick two meats, four sides, 2
- 49:52veg, 1 condiment, a dessert and a dessert condiment.
- 49:57Do you know what that source really through me was the
- 50:00condiment. OK, I thought that would be an
- 50:02easy, but then I had to really think about it.
- 50:05I had to really think, because you lost the last round, you can
- 50:07go first. Oh.
- 50:08What a gentleman. OK, you just admitted you lost
- 50:10the last round. Two meats?
- 50:13Yeah. No, I thought.
- 50:14I thought you meant I lost on the coin toss.
- 50:16That's what I went for. Or you went first.
- 50:18Last time I won. Anyway, 2 meats.
- 50:23I'm going to go. With are you going to say both
- 50:26of them at once? No, I can.
- 50:29You can only get one at a time. OK, I'm going to play strategy
- 50:33again. I'm going to say roast beef.
- 50:36So I can't choose roast, but you can't.
- 50:38Choose roast beef. That's good.
- 50:39I didn't even have roast beef. I thought you were going to play
- 50:42it safe and be like play to the audience.
- 50:44Everyone likes Turkey at Christmas.
- 50:46Wow, you've got the choice. Turkey is so dead.
- 50:48Turkey is the fucking worst thing ever.
- 50:50Roast dinners are also really dead, but let's not go down that
- 50:53rabbit hole, OK? I went for steak, but I didn't
- 50:57go for any steak. I went for Chateau Brion.
- 50:59Like proper. That's beef.
- 51:02Yeah. I've just said beef.
- 51:04You did a different type of beef.
- 51:06I can't have beef. Beef no.
- 51:07Beef is my meat. Nah.
- 51:10Choose a different meat. Nah.
- 51:12That was absolute pole. Yeah, no, I made the rules.
- 51:14Choose your meat. Fuck you, I'm I'm going chicken.
- 51:18Going chicken. OK, which means my strategy
- 51:20worked perfectly. I'm going for like ham or
- 51:23gammon. Oh, nice, because that always
- 51:25that. Is festive, so I've got a couple
- 51:27of options. Yeah, I could do like a goose.
- 51:30You could do a goose. You could do a lamb.
- 51:32All lambs good. No, I'm going to go really
- 51:34rogue. I'm doing duck.
- 51:36Duck. OK, fair enough.
- 51:37Strong. OK, OK, cool.
- 51:40So far I'd say that I can't have my Chateau Brill at Christmas.
- 51:43You can't just put French name on it.
- 51:47It's it's big. It's just a stake.
- 51:49OK, sides, right. First side I'm going for.
- 51:53Oh no, he's going to take mine. Pigs in blankets.
- 51:55Yeah, he took mine. Yeah, OK, fair.
- 51:59That was that's an MVP. Yeah.
- 52:01I mean, it's that's a Hall. Of Famer undoubted.
- 52:04Yeah. Good draft pick.
- 52:06OK sides right? Is a roast potato a side?
- 52:12It's a veg. Is it a veg?
- 52:14I'm then going to have to go for cauliflower cheese I.
- 52:17Didn't think you'd go for cauliflower.
- 52:18Cheese. I had to whipping out the big
- 52:20guns. OK, I'm going to go a little bit
- 52:22rogue then, because this is this is somewhat controversial, but I
- 52:25think it's a staple. I'm going stuffing.
- 52:28Oh. A meat stuffing or a non meat
- 52:31stuffing? I I don't do I have to specify
- 52:34because that just means you're going to choose the other one.
- 52:36I think I'm just going to try stuffing.
- 52:38Fine, fine, yes, stuffing as a whole.
- 52:39I'm then going to go Yorkshire pudding.
- 52:42Fuck. Damn, I thought I was going to
- 52:45go onto the radar. There's no more sides after
- 52:47that. Yeah, there is.
- 52:47Where are you going? Oh no, Because if you've ever
- 52:49been to Toby Carvery, you know there's an alternative to
- 52:51cauliflower cheese. I'm going Mac and cheese.
- 52:54That's not a thing. That is a thing, but it's just
- 52:57like you're just adding things that you want on your roast.
- 52:59I've had it on a Christmas roast, Christmas roast then
- 53:01before. That's how we Calvary.
- 53:03Well, they do it as well, which just furthers my point.
- 53:07Wait, so I have one more side to pick?
- 53:09I think technically we've got, you've got two more, I've got
- 53:11one more. But you're right.
- 53:12We're we're get OK, we'll we'll turn a roast vegetable.
- 53:16Into a side, into a side. I'm going hard then with honey
- 53:18roasted carrots. Oh, OK.
- 53:21The the that's very good. The GOAT of all carrots.
- 53:24It's a massive error, though. I'm going roast potato.
- 53:28That's really painful to see happen.
- 53:30He as in from an athlete to an athlete, you never want to see
- 53:33the other athlete get injured, and that's what I've just seen.
- 53:36That's so tough for your. Pick.
- 53:39I'm going to have to go Brussels sprouts, yeah, but it's it's
- 53:43staple for. Chris to shoot herself in the
- 53:45foot. I mean, I'm going to do that
- 53:46again. I like Brussels sprouts.
- 53:48You could have had parsnips. I'll take Brussels sprouts over
- 53:51parsnips. OK, Right.
- 53:52The listeners are going to back me.
- 53:53Off veg then veg. First veg I'm going for.
- 53:56Which I can't believe. I feel dejected.
- 53:59I'm going to tend to stem broccoli.
- 54:04Shame I'm going. I don't know if this is a thing,
- 54:08but I'm doing like buttered cabbage.
- 54:13See, I think I know where this is going to go because my next
- 54:15one was going to be the red cabbage, the spice winter red
- 54:19cabbage. Are you going to allow me to
- 54:21have that or are you claiming cabbage?
- 54:24After the stuffing fucking of Michael, you can you can have
- 54:28your. Winter spice Cabbage.
- 54:29Thank you very much, Spice. Cabbage.
- 54:31This is becoming my ideal Christmas dinner.
- 54:34I haven't really missed anything apart from cold fried cheese at
- 54:36the moment. Oh, and Yorkshire.
- 54:37More veg. Yeah, one more veg.
- 54:40What else could I throw on there?
- 54:43Peas. Beans.
- 54:46Sweet corn. Have a corn on the cob.
- 54:53Did you already take parsnips? You just you just gave that as.
- 54:56Option gave it as an option. Well, I'm taking parsnip.
- 54:57It's fair. That's solid.
- 54:58I like I love a parsnip OK condiment.
- 55:02This was actually, I mean, there's, there is only one,
- 55:04there is only one that can win. I'm going gravy.
- 55:09Well then I'm going for like, cranberry sauce.
- 55:12Yeah, that's fair. Yeah.
- 55:13At least you didn't go like bread sauce or mint sauce.
- 55:16Bread sauce is the most British thing, by the way.
- 55:19Oh, it's terrible. Let's take some plain food, take
- 55:20that, add some water to it, and then put it on everything else.
- 55:24It's so bad. Yeah, Undisputed.
- 55:26Your roast probably won that round.
- 55:28I'm going to let you. Well, we're not technically done
- 55:30because we've got a dessert, A dessert condiment.
- 55:33OK, I'll let you go first on this.
- 55:35Because I don't like Christmas desserts.
- 55:38Really. Yeah, I'm not into it.
- 55:39OK, So I just went super rogue. So I went.
- 55:43It has to be baked. OK, Baked honeycomb cheesecake.
- 55:48It's my festive dessert of choice.
- 55:51Do you know? What?
- 55:51I reckon there's probably a frozen festive one of those
- 55:53somewhere, obviously, Yeah, yeah, I'm going to then take or
- 55:58I think I'm going to have to go for a home favorite if you like
- 56:02it, which is tough because I'm going to lose a few people here.
- 56:04I'm going to go mince pies and I think I'm playing it safe
- 56:08though, and I'm saying cream or ice cream.
- 56:13Is that your? Condiment.
- 56:13I think cream is going to be my condiment unless you steal it
- 56:17for your no no, you. You have cheesecake.
- 56:19Because I'm having freaking salt caramel sauce.
- 56:21Sort of camera sauce. Wow, it's.
- 56:23Not festive, it's. Actually, another thing, as well
- 56:26as gingerbread that has taken over this year.
- 56:27I don't know if anyone's seen this sticky toffee pudding
- 56:29flavored stuff. Everything, Literally
- 56:30everything. And I love sticky toffee
- 56:32pudding. Yeah, but people are doing it
- 56:33wrong because there's no like, dates or like, raisins in there,
- 56:36which is, I think, essential. Yeah, but I can.
- 56:39Imagine why people don't like that part though.
- 56:40It is what it is. We'll move on.
- 56:42We'll do. Do you want to do one more?
- 56:44Yeah, let's do one more. OK, one more.
- 56:45So we're going to do gifts for High Rocks athletes.
- 56:49This is good. We brought it back.
- 56:50To ours a little bit, but gifts this is good if you're listening
- 56:53to this. Yeah, it's good, guys.
- 56:55This this has come out on Christmas Eve.
- 56:56So you're now in Charles's position.
- 56:59You're both you're both on the streets of London shopping for
- 57:03this exact list. Yeah, OK, right.
- 57:05I'll let you go first. Adios Pro Fours.
- 57:09Oh, great, right, yeah, if I'm getting.
- 57:12Them for Christmas. I'm having a great Christmas.
- 57:15In which case I'm going for the blacked out represent human
- 57:19deviate Nitro threes. Really.
- 57:20Yeah. I'm just not into like an all
- 57:22black trainer and I don't know why as.
- 57:24Long as you've got black socks on.
- 57:26Yeah, you have to wear black socks all blacked out.
- 57:28Would be a cool look. Yeah, And I think it's a great
- 57:30trainer. I'm pretty sure that's Billie.
- 57:34Billie Eilish is Eilish. I think that's her lyrics
- 57:37exactly. Is it black towel?
- 57:39I mean a good. Pair of trainers fire Ox right
- 57:41here. All right, I'm then going to go,
- 57:47well, you can get anything. I can do anything you.
- 57:49Can do pretty much anything. I'm going to do then a Polar H10
- 57:54heart rate monitor. Oh, is it?
- 57:56Yeah, fair enough. I personally don't like racing
- 57:59the heart rate monitor so I think that's a terrible call.
- 58:02But it's a gift for a Hyrox who's needs to train for data.
- 58:04Yeah, that is actually fair. OK, I'm going to go for an amaze
- 58:09fit. Watch a mouse fit.
- 58:11Because then? Because you'd be gutted.
- 58:13Here we go, GMG. Why my gear?
- 58:14You'd be gutted. Have you heard Garmin has
- 58:17released their subscription packs?
- 58:19Have they? Yes.
- 58:20No, they haven't. If you've got a £700 watch, you
- 58:24still have subscription options. Now do you know who's not?
- 58:28Amazed fit. Amazed fit?
- 58:29Is it a maze fit or a Maz fit? Who knows, I prefer a maze fit.
- 58:34I prefer a maze fit because it's like wow.
- 58:36And I also don't like a Maz fit because everyone thinks it's
- 58:39like a a cheap Amazon watch. Yeah.
- 58:43No, I think it, I don't. I don't know what the the answer
- 58:45is There we'll go. We'll say it's a bit.
- 58:47We're talking high rocks athlete amazed that they've got a high
- 58:50rocks race mode specifically that's good for.
- 58:52Them yeah, that is good for them and and you will turn up and
- 58:55you've got like the title sponsor watch on and yeah OK,
- 58:58good bit of Tech 3 inch pair of race shorts, 3 inch specifically
- 59:053 inch short yeah. That's quite a long short for a
- 59:09lot of people. Actually, I would say that's an
- 59:11above average length of short. With that slit which is like. 00
- 59:16E slit yeah, yeah, yeah. Someone, someone was was it
- 59:19Hunter again? Yeah.
- 59:20Commentator made a comment on how much you could see of Hunter
- 59:24this time. They were perfectly real
- 59:25slightly shorts. They were perfectly.
- 59:27Yeah, Yeah. I'm, I'm going to go ahead and
- 59:31say this is this is actually tough nose tape.
- 59:40No, I'm going to go nose tape. Yeah.
- 59:42Because if you're a Hierarchs athlete, there's a strong,
- 59:45strong chance that you will wear nose tape at some point.
- 59:48And the fact that you're going to turn around and say no and
- 59:50shake your head after, in the last episode, admitting that you
- 59:53have the best night's sleep of your life with nose tape on,
- 59:55screams that this is actually a great gift.
- 59:58No, but I'm just going to come in and and win it outright.
- 1:00:03So I've already gifted my Hyroxa, a pair of Adidas Adios
- 1:00:07Pros, a heart rate monitor and a three inch pair of shorts.
- 1:00:11What do they got to do now? They got to go race.
- 1:00:14OK, no, you're giving them a ticket.
- 1:00:16I'm giving them tickets, I'll give them a race ticket.
- 1:00:18OK, in which case a great. Gift.
- 1:00:21I'm going to go one better. I'm going to go and I'm going to
- 1:00:25go into my bag upstairs and I'm going to dig out every colour of
- 1:00:32band and give them free access to any event for the whole year
- 1:00:36to put them all on and you go. Imagine you unwrapping your
- 1:00:39present and you've been given a re gifted, already used
- 1:00:42wristband. Brace in any race you like.
- 1:00:44But it doesn't work. Tyne doesn't work like that.
- 1:00:46There's a. Will there's a way?
- 1:00:48Well, with no chip, you don't get official time.
- 1:00:52I'll be guided if it gave me that.
- 1:00:53If we discussed the the Instagram account that's calling
- 1:00:56out people's times, I've seen that.
- 1:00:58Yeah, that's brilliant. No one's safe.
- 1:01:00No one's safe. I'm.
- 1:01:02I'm bitchy enough to report you if I can.
- 1:01:03You've lied. I won't lie.
- 1:01:05You're. That type of person.
- 1:01:07All right, how many gifts have we done now Has that?
- 1:01:08We've done 4. So there's one more.
- 1:01:10One more. I'm clutching at straws here.
- 1:01:12OK, what did I write down? Oh, this is a great one.
- 1:01:17This is so neat. I didn't need that, so I'm
- 1:01:20gifting a pair of Burke's Birkenstock sandals because what
- 1:01:26else are you going to wear to and from venue once you've raced
- 1:01:29and just look stylish whilst doing it?
- 1:01:32That's a loophole, because that's not hierarchy specific.
- 1:01:35Yeah. But anything's hierarchy
- 1:01:36specific. Yeah, fair enough, but but a
- 1:01:38nice pair of shoes to put on after a race is really good.
- 1:01:42Other sandals are available. OK, This is this is very
- 1:01:47difficult. You've lost this if you're
- 1:01:48actually. Yeah, I probably got this round
- 1:01:50unless I can put it back with a crazy one.
- 1:01:52Should be like I'm going to get them a MacBook Pro to do their
- 1:01:56breaks on. A winning lottery ticket?
- 1:02:02Give them fucking grab tax free cash.
- 1:02:05No, I'm going to give them a represent voucher.
- 1:02:08Nice. And then they can get everything
- 1:02:11including three inch slit shorts that they want and wear
- 1:02:14everything black. Yeah, that's OK.
- 1:02:17Fair. Enough of what value?
- 1:02:20Unlimited. Yeah, yeah, that's, that's the
- 1:02:22GOAT. Nah, come on, I'm not spending
- 1:02:23that much £20. So you can't buy anything?
- 1:02:28You can browse Optimistic. OK, so before we round off the
- 1:02:32episode 1 of the things that we said we would do because we are
- 1:02:37friends as well as podcast hosts, I think we're about to
- 1:02:40find out basically we're going to do a gift exchange.
- 1:02:42It's it's that time of year. So we've got in and got each
- 1:02:46other a gift that could go in the bin based on the
- 1:02:49percentages. Do you want to toss a coin for
- 1:02:52who goes first? Yeah, I reckon.
- 1:02:53OK, I've got something funny to tell you about this pound coin.
- 1:02:56OK, but I'll save it. I'm going tales never fails.
- 1:03:01It doesn't. So you you choose, you go first.
- 1:03:05You don't have to go first if you don't want to.
- 1:03:07I'm going to go first. OK, OK, so this actually comes
- 1:03:11off the back of a grind my dear. Oh no, because.
- 1:03:13Someone wrote in after the last episode.
- 1:03:17OK, now I appreciate. First of all, I appreciate it.
- 1:03:21I'm not 100% on their side. You and I both have a favorite
- 1:03:27hat. Oh yeah, we both have a favorite
- 1:03:30hat. Now, part of the reason I love
- 1:03:32my hat is because of what that hat has been through.
- 1:03:34I've taken it travelling, I've taken it through many a gym
- 1:03:37workout and it's a comfy hat. I like.
- 1:03:40It goes with a lot of different outfits.
- 1:03:43I've got to grind my gear and I will keep them on.
- 1:03:45None of this that they didn't like seeing your sweat on your
- 1:03:49hat in podcasts. I know, Harsh.
- 1:03:54And you can't see a self hat today.
- 1:03:56Yeah, I need to, but interesting.
- 1:04:00Unwrapped because neither of us had time.
- 1:04:03I have got three hat options here.
- 1:04:05One of them's still got the price on it, but interestingly
- 1:04:08enough that price wasn't what they allowed me to buy it for
- 1:04:11because apparently that wasn't what it was registered at, so
- 1:04:13I'd pay more. OK, cool, but you get to choose
- 1:04:16three and three of hats. And this is going to be my new.
- 1:04:19This is my new Dodd class hat. It doesn't have to be, but it's
- 1:04:21just another hat option. I will also preface the fact
- 1:04:25that if you don't like any of these, then I can work some
- 1:04:27magic and I can get you one that I saw online that I wanted to
- 1:04:29get you, but it wouldn't have got here in time.
- 1:04:32I'm so these are Green Bay. They are.
- 1:04:37I don't recognize that logo. It's San Diego.
- 1:04:39Yeah, the Dodgers. Yeah, Is it?
- 1:04:42Yeah. And have you seen the side?
- 1:04:43It's kind of cool. That's freaking sick.
- 1:04:48Wait, so I can I can I can pick one?
- 1:04:50Any really. Yeah.
- 1:04:51This is a great gift. I have left the tag on it.
- 1:04:54Let's try not to look at the. Tag sorry, sorry, sorry.
- 1:04:56But yeah, Mick, I'm going for this one.
- 1:04:59Sick. Thank you very much.
- 1:05:00That's a very. The secret benefit of this is
- 1:05:02that I really wanted this one and I've now got this one.
- 1:05:06That's very, that's very kind. That's a a great gift.
- 1:05:08There you go also. My the cap I always wear.
- 1:05:11Yeah, tell. So this is the thing.
- 1:05:13There's clearly some loves for this app.
- 1:05:15This my my Carhart hat? Yeah.
- 1:05:17This part of my back I saw for the first time ever someone else
- 1:05:20wearing a Carhart hat. Yeah, the same one as me at High
- 1:05:24Rocks in London. I've never seen anyone wearing
- 1:05:25one before. The same one that I have.
- 1:05:28That's not sweat because I don't ever wear it.
- 1:05:31It's just discoloured from. Life.
- 1:05:33Well, there you go. So.
- 1:05:35It's not sweat I've got, I've got so down the legs.
- 1:05:39I've got a working out hat that is really disgusting.
- 1:05:42OK, I'll wear that one next time.
- 1:05:43What's that? Alice White?
- 1:05:44I've got the VPN. Oh yeah, BPM was.
- 1:05:48Then I've got the N241, you've got a Rhinostorm rocks one.
- 1:05:51The rocks one is manky. He's like white.
- 1:05:53Yeah, I can't wear that. One No, no, no, no.
- 1:05:56All right, so I've been a bit more practical with my gift.
- 1:05:59OK. All right, So I and I, I equally
- 1:06:02think you're going to like it. So this might take a while.
- 1:06:06It's heavy. Give me a second.
- 1:06:08I tried my best to hide it for the whole podcast.
- 1:06:13Entertain them, OK, I'll insane them.
- 1:06:15I'm tempted because I've got these hats in a shop where I get
- 1:06:1928 days to return. If anyone is a big, big fan of
- 1:06:24Green Bay, let us know. And if you now just let us know
- 1:06:32and I'll send you that. There you go.
- 1:06:34Done. Right on queue.
- 1:06:39Not not one pack. Oh my word.
- 1:06:43But 2 packs of the good stuff. So again, for those that aren't
- 1:06:47watching, I've just been gifted the ultimate gift, which is 2-4
- 1:06:53packs of monster of white monster, white monster, which
- 1:06:57is, you know, it's the, the eighth wonder of the world
- 1:07:00really at this point. And it is the most Christmassy
- 1:07:03drink you can get in the meal deal because it's because it's
- 1:07:08like why? It's like Christmas and and the
- 1:07:10meal deal, there are no Christmas drinks.
- 1:07:11I looked today when I was getting the meal deal that we
- 1:07:15had and I got I. Meant the stuff.
- 1:07:19Oh my, you, you've got amazing. Thank you very much.
- 1:07:22There's also just a for a listener warning.
- 1:07:26There has been a recent study that has come out about having
- 1:07:30strokes, I think, and consumption of energy drinks.
- 1:07:35I think I didn't go into it. I've dismissed it because I
- 1:07:39don't like the, I don't like the, there's a correlation with,
- 1:07:42there's a correlation there. But I think it was something
- 1:07:45like for people that were drinking between 4:00 and 8:00 a
- 1:07:48day, which I can firmly say I will not be getting through all
- 1:07:51of these in one day. Also like what do you expect?
- 1:07:54Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. So, yeah, as long as you're not
- 1:07:56doing that, you're probably fine, I reckon So, yeah.
- 1:08:00Thank you very much. More than welcome a Merry
- 1:08:02Christmas to you. And yeah, I mean, unless you've
- 1:08:06got, I mean, I'm going to ask you sincerely, have you got
- 1:08:09anything to say in review of the year or to the people before
- 1:08:13it's Christmas and and New Year? I wanted to say something
- 1:08:17really, really profound, but not really.
- 1:08:22That's so on brand. I love it.
- 1:08:24OK, great. I probably have lots of profound
- 1:08:26things to say, but no, I I appreciate everyone for
- 1:08:29listening or watching on YouTube over the past year like it's
- 1:08:32been this year's flown by. We've done 20 odd episodes.
- 1:08:37I think something like. That we've done.
- 1:08:39I think this is the 24th episode we've done this year.
- 1:08:41All right. Sorry, I'm not that specific.
- 1:08:43We've done You remember. You remember the episode
- 1:08:44numbers? Real well.
- 1:08:45So I mean, we've done loads of episodes, we've done loads of
- 1:08:47stuff. The podcast has kind of evolved
- 1:08:49and changed with suggestions from you guys and things that we
- 1:08:52think will be fun for you. And hopefully that continues
- 1:08:54into 2026 and it's a nice time of the year to look over the
- 1:08:59last 12 months and go, what have I achieved if we to bring it
- 1:09:02back to fitness, like did I set out any goals?
- 1:09:05Did I manage to achieve them? If I didn't achieve them, why
- 1:09:08not? Can I achieve them next year?
- 1:09:10And that's what I always do at the end of the year and kind of
- 1:09:12reshuffle my objectives and my goals fitness specific for the
- 1:09:16following year. But yeah, it's been a really
- 1:09:18productive year, I think for both of us and hopefully for you
- 1:09:21guys this thing as well. But you know, really enjoyed the
- 1:09:24podcast. Amazing.
- 1:09:25Well, it's been a pleasure to have you join for this year and
- 1:09:27continue into next year. I think for you guys that are
- 1:09:30listening, a lot of the feedback that we've had this year is that
- 1:09:32you enjoy the games, you enjoy the grind my gears especially.
- 1:09:36And we've had some really good feedback on some of the
- 1:09:38discussions we've had around fitness.
- 1:09:39So we definitely want to keep that going on.
- 1:09:41We will also do our best to discuss things from a more
- 1:09:44holistic point of view rather than just hierarchy specific.
- 1:09:47But as long as that we're still scratching that itch, it will be
- 1:09:51a it will be a, a sort of conversation.
- 1:09:53Topic until we change sport. Which probably isn't far away
- 1:09:56now that everyone's getting so far, but into next year, we're
- 1:10:01having discussions about ways that we can bring you more of
- 1:10:04what you seem to enjoy. So if you have anything else
- 1:10:07that you'd like to see in those episodes going into next year,
- 1:10:09then do let us know. We are looking at increasing the
- 1:10:11number of episodes that we can make.
- 1:10:13We're looking to be on your timelines, feeds, whatever far
- 1:10:17more often and we're looking to start to do some collaborations
- 1:10:21with some brands and events, which might mean hosting more
- 1:10:26events again. I'll talk about that in a second
- 1:10:29that you guys can get involved in and kind of get something
- 1:10:32back from for your loyalty with us.
- 1:10:34So please always feel free to reach out.
- 1:10:37We do read the messages. We do respond the same with any
- 1:10:40of the posts on the stories. Again, if something annoys you
- 1:10:43and grinds your gears instantly, message us because we love it.
- 1:10:47And going into next year, like I said, we hope to be far closer
- 1:10:51to you with more stuff for you to listen to, more things to get
- 1:10:54involved in. The first option comes on the
- 1:10:574th of January, very soon. It's going to come around very,
- 1:10:59very quickly. So 4th of January, if you're
- 1:11:02looking to kick start your New Year's resolutions, then the
- 1:11:07place to do it is the rock SIM. So it's back at Unit 9 Arms in
- 1:11:10London, central London, the most accurate SIM in London as we
- 1:11:13have tried and tested time and time again.
- 1:11:15It's getting to the point now where I kind of don't want it to
- 1:11:18be accurate because I'm concerned about how accurate it
- 1:11:20is. We're going to get sued or maybe
- 1:11:22we're just going to be the next location on the event calendar,
- 1:11:25who knows. But no seriously, a massive
- 1:11:29thank you for all the support that you guys have shown this
- 1:11:31year. If you feel like you want to do
- 1:11:34a bit more than please share with friend.
- 1:11:38Yeah, do more to get in contact with us, drop a subscriber,
- 1:11:40follow Five star review. Everything like that helps far
- 1:11:43more than you know. And yeah, it just helps us
- 1:11:46continue to do more and be there more for you.
- 1:11:48So, yeah, thank you very much for listening.
- 1:11:51And Charles, unless I've sprung anything in your mind, but you
- 1:11:55gave us a beautiful little speech.
- 1:11:56It was very off brand then. We look forward to seeing you
- 1:12:00all in the new Year. Merry Christmas, Happy
- 1:12:03Christmas, and Merry New Year.
