- 0:56Insert theme song here. This is the Daily Sarcast. I give you the news and may be a laugh.
- 1:01I'm Lindsay Vernick, and today is September 11th, 2026.
- 1:05I was pretty young when 9-11 happened.
- 1:08I was literally in first grade, and I cannot remember actually anything that
- 1:12happened that day. Some people can, some people can't.
- 1:15I can't tell you any memories I have, but I will, of course,
- 1:20always remember how different the world felt afterwards.
- 1:24It's really strange to realize that people who were born on that day have already
- 1:28graduated college and they're starting their own careers.
- 1:32Like, they weren't even alive when it happened.
- 1:35For everyone who was around my age, we grew up with airport security being completely different.
- 1:41We took off our shoes at the airport. We have seen Twin Towers and old footage
- 1:46and understood that something terrible happened there, but we were always too
- 1:49young to fully understand as we grew up. It was really weird.
- 1:52I know that this is a comedy news podcast, but it feels really weird if I didn't
- 1:57talk about 9-11, on 9-11, especially on the 25th anniversary.
- 2:02I can't believe this happened 25 years ago now.
- 2:06It doesn't feel like it was all that long ago. I mean, in the grand scheme of things, it wasn't.
- 2:11In real news, let's get back to our modern-day hell.
- 2:16Trump is already campaigning for the 2026 midterms, which is kind of interesting
- 2:21because he's not running for them.
- 2:24At the Republican midterm convention in Dallas this week, Trump told voters
- 2:28to basically pretend he's on the ballot.
- 2:30It kind of reminds me of when I tell my mom to take a mental Xanax.
- 2:34They both sound psychotic.
- 2:35But Trump didn't just stop there. He also promised that if Republicans win both
- 2:40the House and the Senate, every American adult is going to get $5,000.
- 2:45Our classic presidential promise.
- 2:48That would cost more than a trillion dollars for the government.
- 2:51Which is kind of a lot of money, especially considering that the country is
- 2:55already dealing with about $40 trillion in debt.
- 2:58But everyone should get $5,000 each.
- 3:01Some Republicans are not excited about this at all.
- 3:05One called it a bread and circus bread. I mean, he literally said,
- 3:08vote Republican and maybe we'll Venmo you five grand.
- 3:11Trump acknowledged that these midterms are not usually won by the sitting president,
- 3:15but said this election could be something very special.
- 3:18So there you have it. If you're confused about who's running in November,
- 3:21don't worry. The answer is it's whoever you want it to be.
- 3:25And in news that will make you question everything you've ever eaten,
- 3:28there's a potato chip recall happening.
- 3:31More than 260 pounds of de torito potato chips have been recalled after it was
- 3:37discovered that the chips contained chia charron made with pork imported from Colombia. Yum!
- 3:43And that pork was not approved for export to the United States.
- 3:47Even more yum! The recall is classified as Class 1, which is the highest level of recall.
- 3:53And the official warning says there's a possibility of serious health consequences or even death.
- 3:59That's aggressive.
- 4:01No one has gotten sick from these chips as of yet, knock on wood,
- 4:06but obviously people are being told not to eat them and throw them away.
- 4:10Also, these chips were sold in New Jersey and Utah, so kind of close to New York.
- 4:16So if you bought a bag recently, definitely throw them away ASAP.
- 4:21At least we still have Pringles. And finally, apparently AI has started making friends.
- 4:27So it's been discovered that AI agents linked to OpenAI are using more than
- 4:3210 websites as unauthorized communication channels.
- 4:36Basically, AI was supposed to be working independently, and instead it started
- 4:40chatting with other AI agents.
- 4:43And they're not using good links either.
- 4:45Wikis, text-sharing sites, university websites, and even a website made by a
- 4:50high school teacher for an AP chemistry class.
- 4:53The agents were essentially leaving notes for each other, sharing information,
- 4:56and figuring out ways around restrictions that were supposed to follow.
- 5:00Technically, this isn't hacking. It's more like spam.
- 5:03So I guess machines haven't really taken over the world yet.
- 5:07They're just discovering the internet and breaking all of the rules.
- 5:11It's kind of the most human thing AI has ever done, asking the internet for answers.
- 5:17And now to my friend Heng Sheng for his opinions on AI.
- 5:21So, historically, our problem was simple.
- 5:26We did not have enough answers.
- 5:30But with AI, the problem became that we have so many answers,
- 5:36and what answers should we choose to believe?
- 5:39Because those decisions determine which ideas become science,
- 5:44which science becomes technology, and ultimately, which possible futures become real.
- 5:51And then, who gets to decide which answers are worth believing?
- 5:58In Lindsay life yesterday I traveled back to my parents house for Rosh Hashanah
- 6:04and also my roommate played in Philadelphia last night and hosted,
- 6:08an after party at a really fun club Gabby were amazing I'm so proud of you as always,
- 6:14so yesterday I'm on the train and it's really crowded and this older guy just
- 6:19starts just turns and talks to me about how happy he is that he made the train.
- 6:24And we also weren't like cutting a close either like he was like we were on
- 6:28the one of the first people on the train he's like yeah i'm so happy we made it.
- 6:32I'm like, dude, we were never going to not make it. Why are you talking to me? I don't understand.
- 6:39It's always like whenever I don't want to get talked to at the worst times,
- 6:42people start talking to me.
- 6:44This week's MVP goes to Dyson's camera jet toothbrush.
- 6:48So Dyson created a $500 toothbrush with a camera, AI, and a water jet that she
- 6:55was mouthwash between your teeth.
- 6:57Yes, that sounds incredibly futuristic, right?
- 7:00Until you find out that some of them are breaking because water is getting into
- 7:03the battery compartment.
- 7:06How futuristic is that? Someone said that theirs broke within 30 seconds.
- 7:11Anyone else can survive water for more than 30 seconds?
- 7:14Every single other toothbrush I've ever owned, and some of those cost less than 99 cents.
- 7:21So Dicing gets MVP this week for creating a toothbrush that can identify the
- 7:26gaps between your teeth with AI, but is not able to waterproof it. Cooking tip of the day.
- 7:33I mean, this is always one of my top favorite tips. Whatever your mom cooks is always the best.
- 7:40Feedback, comments, questions, a nice Jewish by looking for a date,
