- 0:13Papa John's's message now printed on all pizza boxes.
- 0:18Insert theme song here. This is the Daily Starcast. I give you the news and maybe a laugh.
- 0:23I'm Lindsay Wernick and today is April 22nd, 2026.
- 0:27Hey, so I'm currently recording this podcast somewhere in upstate New Jersey.
- 0:32Is that a thing? Upstate New Jersey or is it up New Jersey? Northern New Jersey.
- 0:37However you say it, I'm in northern upper New Jersey and some Marriott at some
- 0:44hotel and yeah, I'll get more into it in my Lindsay Life update.
- 0:48In real news, yesterday's big Washington performance featured Kevin Warsh,
- 0:53Trump's pick for Fed chair, and he spent hours assuring senators he's absolutely,
- 0:59positively, definitely not there to do Trump's pick.
- 1:03It's just a totally random coincidence that Trump wants lower interest rates
- 1:08and nominated a guy saying rates should maybe just go lower.
- 1:12Senators repeatedly asked whether he'd be a sock puppet, which is honestly the
- 1:17most efficient phrase Congress has said in years.
- 1:20Warsh insisted he be independent, at the same time as Trump is talking to CNBC
- 1:26saying he'd be disappointed if Warsh didn't cut rates. You know the drill here.
- 1:31Warsh also blamed the Federal Reserve for past inflation, said the central bank
- 1:36talks too much, and suggested AI could boost productivity enough to justify lower rates.
- 1:42So the plan might be for him to trust the robots, cut rates,
- 1:46and hope everyone forgets eggs cost $12 last year.
- 1:50Meanwhile, both Republicans and Democrats questioned whether this was a monetary
- 1:54policy or just another season of who wants to control the economy.
- 1:59For everybody listening at home, this affects mortgages, credit cards,
- 2:03car loans, and whether buying groceries continues to feel like financing a yacht.
- 2:07So basically, Warch says he's nobody's puppet, and Washington responded, yeah, okay, sure.
- 2:14Florida announced their criminally investigating chat GBT and OpenAI after reviewing
- 2:19messages from the man responsible for a shooting at Florida State last year
- 2:23where two people were killed.
- 2:24Yes, we have now entered the era of prosecutors trying to indict a.
- 2:29The attorney general said the gunman asked ChatGBT about things like gunpowder,
- 2:34ammunition, crowd timing, and how people will react to a campus shooting.
- 2:39Prosecutors claim if a human had given the same advice, they charged them with murder.
- 2:44OpenAI responded by saying the shooting was a tragedy, but ChatGBT is not responsible.
- 2:50They said the bot gave factual information already available publicly and did
- 2:54not encourage violence. Basically, they said he could have just Googled all
- 2:58of this and got the same information.
- 3:01Florida says it will subpoena records, policies, and internal safety documents
- 3:05to see whether anyone involved in building or managing the systems could face liability.
- 3:11Meanwhile, this also happens to be election season in Florida,
- 3:15where nothing says serious government quite like announcing a war on chat.
- 3:19The real issue underneath this is how responsible should AI companies be when
- 3:24dangerous people use their tools.
- 3:26Apparently more responsible than the dangerous people. Brace yourself for this one.
- 3:31Madonna says several vintage pieces from her personal collection went missing
- 3:36after her surprise Coachella performance with Sabrina Carpenter.
- 3:41Apparently, even pop royalty loses her things too.
- 3:44The missing ensemble included a purple jacket, corset, and dress that Madonna
- 3:50said were part of her own archive. She posted that the moment was full circle
- 3:55until she realized history had disappeared into the desert.
- 3:58Police reportedly believe the items may have fallen off a golf cart while being
- 4:02transported and have not been intentionally stolen, which means somewhere in
- 4:07California there might be a rhinestone corset lying in the sand,
- 4:10or some cop just scooped everything up and is now hiding all the stuff at their house. Either or.
- 4:16Madonna is offering a reward for their return. if anyone suddenly finds any of these vintage items.
- 4:23They're kind of like a missing person, right? If anyone is spotted wearing it,
- 4:28they could probably call 911 and be like, I just saw someone wearing Madonna's
- 4:31missing jacket at In-N-Out.
- 4:33And imagine like three cars show up and surround the girl and they're like, drop the jacket.
- 4:38I don't know. I mean, like crazier things are happening in the world right now, right?
- 4:42In Lindsay life. Okay, so as I said, I'm currently at this random hotel in Northern
- 4:48Upstate, however you want to call it, New Jersey.
- 4:51I'm a producer on this 90s show with,
- 4:54like, a bunch of 90s celebrities, and I obviously can't name whom they are,
- 4:58but right now, it's just me and the celebrities at this hotel,
- 5:05and I'm, like, the only one,
- 5:06like, I guess, like, in charge here, and something actually did happen last
- 5:10night where I had to, like,
- 5:12actually kind of take charge, and everything ended up fine, and it was one of
- 5:16those things where you really have to fake it until you made it, and I guess I made it.
- 5:21Things I'm thinking about. How I'm basically 31 years old and my mom still freaks
- 5:25out about the idea of me driving a minivan on the highway.
- 5:29And she says she doesn't want to become like her mom.
- 5:33Cooking tip of the day. Sometimes, if you taste as you go, it will help you
- 5:37figure out if things are going really, really well or really, really bad.
- 5:40Feedback, comments, questions, and as you wish by looking for a date,
- 5:43email me at lindsay at thedailystarcast.com. Thanks so much for listening.
- 5:47Talk to you guys tomorrow.
