- Jessica Figueroa: Hello, listeners. This is the Just For Today podcast, and my name is Cindy Marlar. Every day we spend just a couple of minutes together thinking about a topic or taking an action item that can help our lives move in a better direction. Maybe every day doesn't apply to you, but if you get in the habit of listening every single day, then enough of them will apply that you're slowly changing how you think and how you react with the world and interact with the world, and that will change things. Okay. So today we're going to be talking about thinking of your life as a business. So I'm a business owner. I've been starting and running businesses since I was 22 years old. I've started businesses. Many have failed. Many have flopped. Some have been successful, others haven't. But I know what it's like to run businesses. But the biggest business I'm running is my own life. And I always think about this with money. Even if you only make minimum wage your whole life, it ends up being like, A couple million dollars if you make slightly above minimum wage. And if you make, let's say, $100,000 a year, you end up managing in your lifetime millions and millions of dollars. Well, how are you doing at it? How are you running that business well? If you're a stay-at-home mom and you were being paid $150,000 a year to be a stay-at-home mom, what would your boss say? If you were being paid to, you know, plan your vacations. If someone paid you fifteen hundred dollars to plan your vacations, how you doing? So I like to think of my own personal life as a business that I'm running because it is. Your personal life has an accounting department, an HR department, the HR department of your life. When people come to you with complaints about your behavior or this or that, are you open to it? Would you would you pass HR? You have a financial department, you have an HR department, you have the CEO that's guiding the ship. So, are you doing vision boards or writing down plans or making a plan for your family? Because that's what the CEO does. They're guiding a vision for a company. So, do you have a vision for your family? And are you guiding everyone there? There's a CFO, there's a chief operational officer. Do you have a chief technical officer in your family? How are you running your business? How's the technology? Do you have all the safeguards in place on all your technology that you need? If not, you need a CTO, a chief technological officer. And if you can't do it yourself, You need to find one. So just a fun exercise to think of your life as this business with all these different departments, but you're running them all. You have to manage them all. It's kind of like a fun little exercise. So for today, let's think of our life as a business and how's it running? If you were to do undercover boss in your own life, what would you find out? I don't know. But something to think about. Have a great day, guys. You're running a great business. And businesses can change, they can grow, they can pivot. So you are not stuck where you're at. You can grow and change and pivot your business whenever you want. I'll see you guys tomorrow. Bye.
