- 1:26[SPEAKER_01]: Like what he has.
- 1:27[SPEAKER_01]: come up with and created through sprend is like this is a game changer you guys.
- 1:32[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 1:32[SPEAKER_01]: But first, how is everyone doing?
- 1:35[SPEAKER_01]: We are just wrapping up Thanksgiving.
- 1:39[SPEAKER_01]: I hope everyone had a really good Thanksgiving break if you're listening to this in real time.
- 1:44[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's November.
- 1:45[SPEAKER_01]: Things are changing.
- 1:46[SPEAKER_01]: We have a holidays coming up.
- 1:48[SPEAKER_01]: I hope everyone had a is having a wonderful Thanksgiving if you listen to this today.
- 1:52[SPEAKER_01]: It is Thanksgiving.
- 1:54[SPEAKER_01]: And it's the time of year to start having like
- 1:57[SPEAKER_01]: I don't want to say like health parks, but like just real discussions around your health.
- 2:01[SPEAKER_01]: And I know I say that like every episode no matter what time of year it is, but for real, we have December right around the corner.
- 2:08[SPEAKER_01]: Like it's starting.
- 2:09[SPEAKER_01]: The holidays are here and it's starting.
- 2:10[SPEAKER_01]: And I just want everyone to really take a look at what are you after right now.
- 2:15[SPEAKER_01]: Are you looking to maintain?
- 2:16[SPEAKER_01]: Are you looking to not put on weight?
- 2:18[SPEAKER_01]: Are you looking to
- 2:19[SPEAKER_01]: work on you.
- 2:20[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe you have some downtime.
- 2:21[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe you're like a teacher and you know you're not in school for the next three weeks coming up here or I don't know whatever your life looks like.
- 2:29[SPEAKER_01]: I just want you to take a minute and look at it and trust me, this all ties into today's episode, but what are you going to be after?
- 2:35[SPEAKER_01]: Over, let's see, really the next eight weeks.
- 2:38[SPEAKER_01]: And
- 2:38[SPEAKER_01]: if that is like, I don't want to just maintain.
- 2:42[SPEAKER_01]: And I have to bring this up too, just because this is reality.
- 2:45[SPEAKER_01]: If you don't decide to do anything, you're like, I don't know.
- 2:47[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just going to see how it goes.
- 2:48[SPEAKER_01]: The chances of you putting on weight and getting into even more of a hole in a negative is very real.
- 2:54[SPEAKER_01]: If you don't stand top of your muscle in your weight and your strength training everything, you could go into the negative with that as well.
- 3:01[SPEAKER_01]: And we're not about going backward, you guys.
- 3:03[SPEAKER_01]: We're all about moving forward.
- 3:05[SPEAKER_01]: in every area of our life.
- 3:07[SPEAKER_01]: And I want this to be a holiday season where you kept moving forward and you didn't pack on the pounds.
- 3:13[SPEAKER_01]: You guys, I think I said this before.
- 3:14[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe a couple of weeks ago.
- 3:15[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 3:16[SPEAKER_01]: I can't remember now.
- 3:16[SPEAKER_01]: But there was one holiday season where I put on eight pounds.
- 3:19[SPEAKER_01]: Do you know how much weight that is on a female body?
- 3:22[SPEAKER_01]: Like you could drastically see it.
- 3:23[SPEAKER_01]: That made pants not fit right.
- 3:25[SPEAKER_01]: And it was after that.
- 3:27[SPEAKER_01]: That was one of my moments.
- 3:28[SPEAKER_01]: And I was
- 3:30[SPEAKER_01]: never again.
- 3:31[SPEAKER_01]: And I was just like, let's just enjoy the holidays.
- 3:33[SPEAKER_01]: Like, like, whatever, you know, I'll get back out and I still went to the gym and I still did my things, but I was not intentional.
- 3:38[SPEAKER_01]: And so I guess my question for you is like, what are your intentions coming up?
- 3:43[SPEAKER_01]: And I want you to have a really hard conversation with yourself about what that is.
- 3:47[SPEAKER_01]: And if you decide, like, I just want to maintain, okay, what work needs to happen for you to just maintain, then truly think about this.
- 3:54[SPEAKER_01]: and there's no shame and guilt around it.
- 3:57[SPEAKER_01]: It's just like learning to decide with your health and your fitness.
- 4:00[SPEAKER_01]: So just want to bring that up because today's guest is all about a tool that you can have and use on your cell phone that's going to help you move in the right direction.
- 4:13[SPEAKER_01]: and never feel like you're going backwards again.
- 4:15[SPEAKER_01]: Today we have Jason more on he's the founder and CEO of Sprint and he has spent the last decade turning smartphones into powerful tools for tracking body composition with Dexus scan level accuracy.
- 4:30[SPEAKER_01]: Oh yes, you heard that right.
- 4:32[SPEAKER_01]: Most of my clients, I'm always like, go find an in-body, you know, it's not the greatest, but it's something.
- 4:36[SPEAKER_01]: Go find a Dexis scan.
- 4:38[SPEAKER_01]: Well, those cost a lot of money.
- 4:40[SPEAKER_01]: Dexis scans can be anywhere between 75, 150, 200, 250, all depends where you live.
- 4:46[SPEAKER_01]: What kind of scan it is to get a real accurate reading unlike your body fat percentage, your weight, your muscle, all of that.
- 4:52[SPEAKER_01]: And he has found a way to do this with your smartphone.
- 4:56[SPEAKER_01]: His work has already impacted over one million users, including Globe, metal, winning Olympians.
- 5:02[SPEAKER_01]: And he's recently raised 11 million to scale this groundbreaking technology.
- 5:08[SPEAKER_01]: The company's backers include sports and medical starters, like NFL legends, Bacteric, Patrick Hennway of the Clinton Clinic, Genova Diagnostics.
- 5:18[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, you name it.
- 5:20[SPEAKER_01]: And he has these backers.
- 5:22[SPEAKER_01]: You guys, this company is so cool.
- 5:25[SPEAKER_01]: Sprint's AI powered biomarker technology transformed any smartphone into a lab grade sensor, measuring your body fat, lean mass, resting metabolic rate.
- 5:37[SPEAKER_01]: Your HRV, which is your heart rate variability, and soon even for you owe two max without expensive equipment or wearables.
- 5:45[SPEAKER_01]: The results?
- 5:46[SPEAKER_01]: elite level health tracking.
- 5:48[SPEAKER_01]: It's now accessible to anyone with a phone.
- 5:51[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I don't know if you guys understand or realize how cool this is.
- 5:55[SPEAKER_01]: And it doesn't break the bank you guys.
- 5:57[SPEAKER_01]: It's not something that you can't afford.
- 5:59[SPEAKER_01]: You can't deal.
- 6:00[SPEAKER_01]: Jason was motivated by his own struggles to stay fit and witness in chronic health issues in this family and Jason combined his passion for fitness with his tech background to develop innovative ways to improve health you guys.
- 6:13[SPEAKER_01]: This episode is
- 6:15[SPEAKER_01]: good.
- 6:16[SPEAKER_01]: We dive into it all what biomarkers are and what this measure is and how this came about and how you can use this to move forward and never go backwards again without spending hundreds of dollars every time you need a scan.
- 6:27[SPEAKER_01]: You can have it right on your phone.
- 6:29[SPEAKER_01]: It is so amazing.
- 6:31[SPEAKER_01]: So okay, go listen to the show.
- 6:33[SPEAKER_01]: It is so incredible.
- 6:34[SPEAKER_01]: I'm really excited for you guys to have this and
- 6:45[SPEAKER_01]: So go like get it now don't walk run and get it use code bomb life and you'll get your first month free of this like it almost seems too good to be true But when you know what's going on with your body on the inside and the outside
- 7:03[SPEAKER_01]: It can project or it can just throw your your health journey into a whole new level and you guys hear me talk about the muscle and fat and all of that and this is important to bring up to and we say this in the episode, but like I just I feel I will feel better about myself if I say it this doesn't replace the work, okay, this is a great tool in your toolbox, but it doesn't replace the work you still have to show up for you you still have to see where you're at and when you do use this and you do your first scan and we talk about this in the episode too, so please listen all the way to the end.
- 7:30[SPEAKER_01]: There is no shame and guilt around it.
- 7:32[SPEAKER_01]: You got to let go of the shame and guilt around it.
- 7:35[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, let that shit go because you have to start somewhere.
- 7:40[SPEAKER_01]: You have to know where you're at, so you know how to move forward.
- 7:43[SPEAKER_01]: And I know getting on that scale or doing this scan, it's tough.
- 7:47[SPEAKER_01]: It is tough.
- 7:48[SPEAKER_01]: It is not easy, but you have the data and then you can see the pink flags before they turn into red flags and then black flags and it can keep you moving in the right direction and don't you want to know if something is not working don't you want to know if something is working.
- 8:03[SPEAKER_01]: The answer is yes to both, it is yes to both.
- 8:05[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, you guys, please rate and review this podcast, leave five stars if you feel appropriate.
- 8:10[SPEAKER_01]: Right to review, it's always so helpful.
- 8:12[SPEAKER_01]: You guys are awesome.
- 8:13[SPEAKER_01]: We can't do this without you.
- 8:14[SPEAKER_01]: Go to the show notes for all the information too.
- 8:17[SPEAKER_01]: And the app is called Spreadn.
- 8:18[SPEAKER_01]: P-R-E-N-S-P-R-E-N.
- 8:22[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if I said that right.
- 8:23[SPEAKER_01]: S-P-R-E-N-S-Breadn.
- 8:25[SPEAKER_01]: And go find it today.
- 8:26[SPEAKER_01]: Use our code, bomb life.
- 8:27[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 8:27[SPEAKER_01]: Everyone, enjoy the show.
- 8:37[SPEAKER_01]: Hey everyone, welcome to the bomb life podcast.
- 8:41[SPEAKER_01]: Today we have Jason more on the show, Jason welcome.
- 8:45[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you Melissa excited to be here.
- 8:46[SPEAKER_01]: I'm so stoked to have this conversation with you.
- 8:49[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just like, I want to just like dive in and ask you all the questions right now.
- 8:52[SPEAKER_01]: But your app and your company is really, really interesting in what you're doing with our technology.
- 8:58[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm just like a kidney candy shop right now.
- 9:00[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, you're speaking my language technology and a candy shop.
- 9:04[SPEAKER_00]: That's right.
- 9:05[SPEAKER_01]: That's where I'm at as long technology and chocolate my do favorites now.
- 9:10[SPEAKER_01]: No Jim weights is my favorite and that chocolate real.
- 9:13[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 9:13[SPEAKER_01]: So I have to ask first.
- 9:15[SPEAKER_01]: How did this become the path of your life in what you focus on?
- 9:20[SPEAKER_01]: Like, how did AI and our smartphones and biomarkers and all this technology become like the thing Jason Moore is doing now?
- 9:31[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's funny, because as you asked that, first response that came to my head was kind of these things that you hear kind of in media sometimes, which was like, I was born dreaming about biomarkers and humanities, you know, gonna go to biomarker land or whatever, but the reality is is that growing up, I was an athlete and I, you know, competed basically through high school and soccer, you know.
- 10:00[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, which was super fun and I sometimes miss it but due to injuries and other things like I ended up evolving away from it to kind of a more holistic approach to health fitness well being etc.
- 10:13[SPEAKER_00]: But like that ended up starting kind of as I stalled out as an athlete, I was working harder and getting worse results and.
- 10:21[SPEAKER_00]: At the same time, like we're starting to develop some health issues and this was in my early 20s and then looking around at my friends and family and for the first time kind of realizing my parents had kind of talked about like dieting and stuff when I was a kid like for themselves, but.
- 10:38[SPEAKER_00]: it wasn't really like didn't hit me until I started realizing my friends, my family, like for myself, we're all kind of struggling with something and it just wasn't talked about and it was kind of hard to figure out and I'm the type of person that likes to go down the rabbit hole deep.
- 10:56[SPEAKER_00]: So I kind of dove in first like for
- 10:59[SPEAKER_00]: through fitness and kind of evolve towards like cross fit originally and then towards personal training and ended up becoming a fitness trainer and personal trainer and then realizing that exercise was just one part of the whole picture and you know very quickly seeing that sleep and stress and nutrition and going outside and having healthy relationships and like all of these things just really compound together and exercise, of course, very important to you.
- 11:28[SPEAKER_00]: As I was figuring the style, I was actually then working in the oil industry like a tech-based job.
- 11:35[SPEAKER_00]: I was building software and with that software, we were basically using sensor data and algorithms and things like that to basically predict and maintain the health of equipment in the oil field.
- 11:48[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 11:49[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 11:49[SPEAKER_00]: So like, by day, that's what I was doing on in nights and weekends.
- 11:53[SPEAKER_00]: I'm like training people and doing a bunch of research and networking and health and fitness.
- 11:57[SPEAKER_00]: And I was like, eventually there's some dot started connect for me there.
- 12:01[SPEAKER_00]: And I was like, well, what things can be measured about the body that gives us a better, you know, compass to follow on like what's working, what's not working is something about to break down before it breaks down, right?
- 12:18[SPEAKER_00]: You
- 12:19[SPEAKER_00]: But that's hard to do.
- 12:20[SPEAKER_00]: And so, you know, fast forward a few years, I did turn some personal research into a company, which includes like, you know, recovery and stress and inflammation and a bunch of things that we can get into.
- 12:32[SPEAKER_00]: And then that really paved the way for a bigger vision of expanding what we are able to measure, getting into machine learning and computer vision inside of these really deep tech topics that
- 12:44[SPEAKER_00]: Now, I've turned your phone into essentially like a validated health lab where you can measure crazy.
- 12:50[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 12:51[SPEAKER_01]: Crazy.
- 12:52[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 12:54[SPEAKER_00]: Wow.
- 12:54[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, even though I live it every day, I mean, we have this technology in our hand, like it only makes sense that it can do this, too.
- 13:02[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
- 13:03[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 13:03[SPEAKER_01]: Like in you're doing it, you're figuring out, you've worked for some pretty big names.
- 13:08[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, thank you.
- 13:09[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and that's really been, you know, comfortable circle, basically, because just like health, like solving the problem with from a business perspective, takes a very holistic approach at understand deep dyes and finance and accounting and operations and learn all these things while also continuing to grow our innovation and figure out, how do you package this type of technology to actually make it useful to people?
- 13:36[SPEAKER_00]: it's easy for somebody like me who likes to go down the rabbit hole to get way off into nerdland and that's been another thing that we've been partnering with a lot of people like you said some really big names and amazing brands to like bring it forth to everyone.
- 13:52[SPEAKER_01]: Well, because right now, like if you want this information on your body, you've got to go somewhere and pay a lot of money, and that's if you're lucky enough to even have something in your area to get like a Dexis scan down or anything, you know, you're a lot of my clients have to travel almost an hour to get one, and then it's like 150, 200 bucks all depends on what they want, what they need and like, how realistic is that, you know, it's tough, it's tough for a lot of people.
- 14:20[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and that's those are the types of problems we love to solve.
- 14:23[SPEAKER_00]: So you mentioned DeXa.
- 14:25[SPEAKER_00]: It's an amazing piece of equipment.
- 14:26[SPEAKER_00]: It's this big x-ray machine that costs like anywhere from 50 to $250,000.
- 14:31[SPEAKER_00]: And like you said, in most major cities in the US, you can go pay 150 bucks to $200 or so dollars to do a DeXa scan, which gives you information about your body composition.
- 14:44[SPEAKER_00]: and also bone mineral density, which is how some people get exposed to it.
- 14:48[SPEAKER_00]: We've been able to take pretty much the majority of that functionality and package it into your phone so that you don't have to pay $150 a scan and you can do it from the convenience of your home.
- 14:59[SPEAKER_00]: And to your point, like people are going and doing that because the data is so valuable, like you said you do it with your clients, et cetera.
- 15:06[SPEAKER_00]: but we just love kind of breaking down the barriers of access and we then get blown away by all the things people do with it and all the things they learn when they can outtrack it, let's say every week instead of once a year.
- 15:20[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 15:21[SPEAKER_01]: And like you said, preventing the mass of like breakdown like
- 15:25[SPEAKER_01]: And with our health and I know there's the whole saying like it's not broke.
- 15:28[SPEAKER_01]: Don't fix it like and I don't want people to get confused with that because that's not what we're talking about, but like your body will give you pink flags red flags before big changes happen.
- 15:39[SPEAKER_01]: And we are so busy and wrapped up in our life like we miss those.
- 15:43[SPEAKER_01]: So that's what caught my attention when I got approached to have you on.
- 15:47[SPEAKER_01]: I was like, wait, what this is like.
- 15:51[SPEAKER_01]: a huge way for people to see those flags and to like create change now, stop, wake up.
- 15:58[SPEAKER_01]: It's not just like in your head, because a lot of times people think like, oh, is it just in my head?
- 16:02[SPEAKER_01]: Am I not sleeping well?
- 16:03[SPEAKER_01]: Am I putting on weight?
- 16:04[SPEAKER_01]: Am I just being mean to myself?
- 16:06[SPEAKER_01]: And this is a great tool to be like, oh, no, it's right here in your face, wake up.
- 16:10[SPEAKER_00]: And I mean, you hit the nail on the head.
- 16:13[SPEAKER_00]: I couldn't have said it better.
- 16:14[SPEAKER_00]: In fact, I wish I could take that snippet and go back in time and tell myself that because...
- 16:20[SPEAKER_01]: So many things I tell myself.
- 16:22[SPEAKER_00]: That's really kind of what it boils down to is like, it's not about just data for the sake of data.
- 16:27[SPEAKER_00]: It's not about tracking for the sake of tracking.
- 16:29[SPEAKER_00]: Like, it's about getting those early warning signs.
- 16:32[SPEAKER_00]: And also, it takes a lot of work to build a healthy fit while being oriented to life's work.
- 16:40[SPEAKER_00]: And like I want to know I like sometimes I say that I'm lazy but people kind of roll their eyes because I'm like a CEO and doing all these different things but I'm like look we're all juggling a lot of things and I want to know that effort that I'm putting in is leading somewhere.
- 16:55[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 16:56[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 16:56[SPEAKER_00]: And so to me, it's like giving us that positive reinforcement when our work is paying the dividends, but it's hard to see and when we measure we can see it earlier.
- 17:06[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, more quantified and stay motivated and also see if we're wasting time.
- 17:13[SPEAKER_00]: Like I don't want to put in a bunch of work and have it not enough.
- 17:16[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, I'm telling my clients at all the time, like we don't want to waste time, but also like progress equals motivation.
- 17:25[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's a Tony Robbins thing.
- 17:26[SPEAKER_01]: That's not a Melissa Vogel thing.
- 17:28[SPEAKER_01]: And but I use it all the time.
- 17:29[SPEAKER_01]: So it should become my thing because it's so true.
- 17:32[SPEAKER_01]: When people see progress and you can whether that's your photos, whether that's a scan, whether that's, you know, your waist and you know, becoming smaller or clothing, that progress, it sparked something in our brain.
- 17:46[SPEAKER_01]: and it motivates you and we rely so much on just the scale still so many people give that hunk of metal on the floor so much power and I had especially women and they'll get on there and I'll be like girl you just gave a hunk of metal all of your energy and all of your power for the day because it said that you're up two pounds you know and now your whole day is ruined
- 18:13[SPEAKER_00]: And it's crazy, but also not, you know, to make, like I understand the psychology and that's where we hope to appreciate you a lot tremendously because of the content of yours that I have, I just said I can see how you're connecting those thoughts for people and saying like it's like we're all human right and we have emotional reactions to everything that's just how we are, but it's like finding the right things to pay attention to right, that's kind of like have to battle.
- 18:41[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, absolutely, and I don't know, I just, I don't want people either to keep doing the same thing that's not serving them and I see that a lot like all the time and I just had a conversation with someone this morning and she's like doing this.
- 18:57[SPEAKER_01]: body, app, work out thing, and I'm like, how long you been doing that for?
- 19:00[SPEAKER_01]: Just like, oh, probably like eight months.
- 19:02[SPEAKER_01]: Is it working?
- 19:03[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I mean, clearly it's not because we're having a conversation right now on the phone, you know, but it just just keeps doing the same thing over and over again.
- 19:10[SPEAKER_01]: And it's like it's not working.
- 19:11[SPEAKER_01]: And we need more tools like this.
- 19:14[SPEAKER_01]: to show us like, hey, you don't have that progress going on right now.
- 19:17[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 19:17[SPEAKER_01]: So explain me like how metabolic tracking it's like, what is it doing to the weight loss world right now?
- 19:26[SPEAKER_01]: What is it doing with like your fitness optimization?
- 19:30[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, it's basically providing this feedback loop where people can for the first time answer questions like you were just saying a minute ago, which was like, hey, I tried this thing is a working for me right you've gone eight months into doing this thing and you're still kind of not sure like if it's working but sometimes you're afraid to not do it because you're like, oh, if I stop, then you know things might be even worse or something like that.
- 19:55[SPEAKER_00]: We really want to give people the data and insights and make it super easy to make those decisions more confidently and coaches to like where we have this whole platform we've built out that takes things like these body composition scans which can be a little bit intimidating like there's all these metrics that are associated with them like.
- 20:16[SPEAKER_00]: body fat percentage obviously muscle mass, you know, those are to that people will understand pretty intuitively, right?
- 20:22[SPEAKER_00]: Like generally we want less fat generally we want more muscle, but then there's a lot of questions around that, right?
- 20:30[SPEAKER_00]: Like, well, how much is the right amount, you know, and, you know, will I look bulky if I put on muscle or will I look, you know, lean, right?
- 20:38[SPEAKER_00]: Of course, you've already educated people on this and I say it to like it's very difficult for people to look bulky by focusing on strength training.
- 20:47[SPEAKER_01]: We should say that like even louder for the people in the back.
- 20:50[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, exactly like you can just ask like any like relatively small man how painful that truth is.
- 21:00[SPEAKER_00]: That's right.
- 21:00[SPEAKER_00]: But in any case,
- 21:02[SPEAKER_00]: So the feedback loops that so metabolic tracking and the idea of tracking body comes this in and heart rate variability is like what are all the things like what's the lift above all the things that we're looking in tracking.
- 21:14[SPEAKER_00]: Right, right.
- 21:15[SPEAKER_00]: So think of it like a menu where we're not telling you you have to track all the things all the time, right?
- 21:20[SPEAKER_00]: But I'll list out a bunch of stuff.
- 21:22[SPEAKER_00]: So body composition is really one of our hottest technologies right now, because just using your phone, you can put it on the floor, step back, gain your body, and get essentially like a Dexus scan worth of body composition data.
- 21:34[SPEAKER_00]: So that includes body fat percentage, lean muscle mass, and then indexes of those, which are kind of normalizing
- 21:43[SPEAKER_00]: Sounds technical, but basically you can imagine like taller people tend to have bigger frames or carry more mass, you know.
- 21:50[SPEAKER_01]: Yep.
- 21:51[SPEAKER_00]: That's another reason why scale weight can be a kind of misleading for a lot of different body type.
- 21:57[SPEAKER_00]: So, but body weight as well, you can get that from a scale, but you know, you can include it in the metrics you analyze in our platform.
- 22:03[SPEAKER_00]: And then there's these other interesting elements of body comp that most people don't necessarily know about like Android, Guy, Noid, Ratio.
- 22:11[SPEAKER_00]: And so it sounds very technical, it in it is kind of, but it's really a proxy for like hip-to-waste ratio, right?
- 22:20[SPEAKER_01]: And to waste ratio, okay?
- 22:22[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so if you're thinking about like, how, what's the circumference or the distance around your waist?
- 22:30[SPEAKER_00]: Right, versus your hips.
- 22:32[SPEAKER_00]: And generally speaking, for almost everybody, you don't want your waist to be getting larger, you know, relative to your hips.
- 22:40[SPEAKER_00]: And so that pretty much is universal for everybody, maybe unless you're like a competitive strong man or something like that.
- 22:47[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you know, but in any case Android guy knowing is the way that Dexa kind of scientifically categorizes those metrics.
- 22:56[SPEAKER_00]: And we just, again, provide that by doing a quick scan with your phone.
- 23:01[SPEAKER_00]: It's for most people, and this is how I'll go into the other metrics too, but with body composition, everyone really focuses a lot on body fat percentage.
- 23:11[SPEAKER_00]: And it's true that changes in your body fat percentage can really visually, you know, make a big impact for you.
- 23:17[SPEAKER_00]: But really what's most important for health and longevity and like feeling really great is,
- 23:24[SPEAKER_00]: that Android got annoyed ratio because again, caring a lot more way around your mid-section.
- 23:29[SPEAKER_00]: It's got a lot of leads to a lot of negative health outcomes.
- 23:32[SPEAKER_00]: And it also just doesn't make you feel great.
- 23:34[SPEAKER_00]: It often has a high correlation with inflammation in your gut and challenges with, you know, overall health and well-being and chronic health conditions.
- 23:44[SPEAKER_00]: And then the other is lean mass index.
- 23:47[SPEAKER_00]: And the scientific community calls it fat-free mass index.
- 23:53[SPEAKER_00]: like how much lean tissue you have like muscle relative to your height.
- 23:58[SPEAKER_00]: And so that in Android guided ratio, I think are the most undervalued metrics because everyone focuses just on body fat percentage.
- 24:09[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I encourage people to focus on those more interesting.
- 24:13[SPEAKER_00]: Interesting.
- 24:14[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, so those are the body composition.
- 24:16[SPEAKER_00]: Then we integrate with pretty much all the wearables.
- 24:18[SPEAKER_00]: So you can pull in your activity data, your sleep data, we also have a full-on food logging system in there for people that want to log their food and it has a whole AI component to it so you can use your voice and pictures and things like that to make food logging the last easier.
- 24:36[SPEAKER_00]: And then we have our own technologies as well to help people monitor.
- 24:40[SPEAKER_00]: heart rate, HRV, and respiration rate.
- 24:43[SPEAKER_00]: So these are more like cardiovascular respiratory markers.
- 24:46[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 24:47[SPEAKER_00]: And a lot of people like athletes are very familiar with tracking those types of metrics over time, but one of the really interesting things that we found is people who start tracking them on a daily basis learn a ton of
- 24:59[SPEAKER_00]: about their bodies and their routines, right?
- 25:03[SPEAKER_00]: And so routines obviously a big one that people are aware of is sleep.
- 25:08[SPEAKER_00]: So you can track sleep, sleep durations, sleep quality through wearables.
- 25:12[SPEAKER_00]: But if you look at that HRV number, you'll also notice that the quality of your sleep has a big impact on your daily HRV number.
- 25:21[SPEAKER_00]: and heart rate variability gives you this window into recovery and readiness that maybe people have attracted for the first time they realize like, oh wow, these little things that I do like if I have a snack right before bed or have alcohol, you know, close to bed or, you know,
- 25:42[SPEAKER_00]: skip a meal or do all these things that we just do on a daily basis, so as we're kind of navigating life, you end up seeing the ripple effect in the data long before you see it in your like physique or your that's crazy.
- 25:55[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, energy levels and so it can give you some of these again pink flags like
- 26:00[SPEAKER_00]: out and like hey it's not the end of the world like any given one day is never going to make or break your whole life but that's the problem is that mentality combined with the lack of immediate feedback leads to them every day becoming you know a slip day and so we're just giving people tools to be aware of when that's starting to happen and helping kind of just
- 26:28[SPEAKER_01]: is so cool.
- 26:29[SPEAKER_01]: I really hope people listening understand how cool this is and how much this can help you on your journey.
- 26:37[SPEAKER_01]: Now, this will never take away like working on like the mindset piece of it and actually picking up and learning how to resistance train like how to progressive overload that muscle.
- 26:48[SPEAKER_01]: Like, you know, you still have to do that work.
- 26:50[SPEAKER_01]: You still have to, you know,
- 26:55[SPEAKER_01]: Understand your body with your nutrition, but man, when you have tools like this that you can add into your journey and really learn and educate and know your body and for many people it's for the first time ever Holy crap, your chances of going backwards again and putting the way it back on and getting stuck in that roller coaster it like decreases drastically and I just wish I say this all the time like
- 27:20[SPEAKER_01]: everyone has this giant toolbox that we carry around.
- 27:23[SPEAKER_01]: Some is really empty.
- 27:25[SPEAKER_01]: Some people don't have anything in there and then others they have a ton and I just say this is another tool to put in your toolbox.
- 27:32[SPEAKER_01]: This is just another tool and there isn't one magic tool.
- 27:36[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 27:37[SPEAKER_01]: Now and that's what people are looking for, Jason.
- 27:39[SPEAKER_01]: They want the one magic tool.
- 27:41[SPEAKER_01]: Hey guys, today's episode is brought to you by Simply Greens.
- 27:45[SPEAKER_01]: I am so excited to share this new favorite daily hack with you guys because it is changed how I feel from the inside out.
- 27:52[SPEAKER_01]: It is Simply Greens, S-I-M-P-L-I Greens gummies.
- 27:56[SPEAKER_01]: I've been taking them for a few weeks now and even my kids are on board and I'm loving how simple they are to get my greens in no giant smoothies, no mess, no powder, no guesswork, just two and go.
- 28:05[SPEAKER_01]: Here's what's inside.
- 28:11[SPEAKER_01]: Brussels sprouts, plus superfoods like Spiralina and Clorella.
- 28:15[SPEAKER_01]: There are 100% plant derivative, gluten-free, organic, with no cheap fillers or synthetic junk that your body struggles to use.
- 28:22[SPEAKER_01]: Simply greens also includes vitamin B12 for energy and metabolism, yeah, we all need that.
- 28:27[SPEAKER_01]: Vitamin D3 for bone health, zinc and connesia for a new and support, and so much more y gummies.
- 28:33[SPEAKER_01]: because consistency is greater than perfection.
- 28:35[SPEAKER_01]: A gummy is easier to take.
- 28:36[SPEAKER_01]: It's more enjoyable, and it helps me stick with it when I feel good.
- 28:39[SPEAKER_01]: I show up for my workouts, my family, and my life.
- 28:42[SPEAKER_01]: I've totally noticed better energy at less brain fog, and I feel more grounded in my kids.
- 28:47[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, they're getting most...
- 28:48[SPEAKER_01]: same daily nutrients without me nagging them.
- 28:50[SPEAKER_01]: They go out the door, I hand them their gummies, they take them, they go.
- 28:53[SPEAKER_01]: And because you're a listener of the bomb life podcast, guess what?
- 28:56[SPEAKER_01]: You're good to deal.
- 28:57[SPEAKER_01]: Use the code bomb life at checkout and save 25% off your order.
- 29:01[SPEAKER_01]: You are welcome.
- 29:02[SPEAKER_01]: Plus if you spend 35 dollars, you get free shipping.
- 29:05[SPEAKER_01]: If you've ever struggled to eat enough greens or felt overwhelmed by the powders and the shakes just didn't like the taste, this is the solution real greens in a real simple format.
- 29:14[SPEAKER_01]: Back to the show.
- 29:17[SPEAKER_00]: I wish you could take our tool and just inject it into your body and have it do all the work for you.
- 29:23[SPEAKER_00]: And you know, I think maybe someday humanity will get there, but you know, you asked earlier, like, what are some of the things people do with these tools speaking of injecting things like there's this whole rising tide of, you know, some agglutite GLP one in agglustia.
- 29:40[SPEAKER_00]: Those also don't replace the need to use progressive overload and get adequate protein and address all of these lifestyle changes.
- 29:49[SPEAKER_00]: We find really interesting data.
- 29:51[SPEAKER_00]: One we collaborate with a lot of functional medicine and integrative medicine practitioners and they're often in a position to prescribe these types of drugs because people want it, right?
- 30:01[SPEAKER_00]: But a lot of them do say, okay, under certain cases, we will use those to maybe get through a stick
- 30:08[SPEAKER_00]: point or something, but we're going to heavily track this data and use it to show you that if you just use these drugs and you don't do these other aspects, you're actually losing a lot of muscle and that can be catastrophic for your metabolism long-term and also just your confidence, your health and your well-being.
- 30:30[SPEAKER_00]: And so we've just seen lots and lots of data showing that and that when people do certain steps, which surprise the prize are the same steps that you would do even if you weren't using medically assisted, you know, weight loss drugs is by focusing on progressive overload and by getting adequate protein and making sure that you sleep enough.
- 30:51[SPEAKER_00]: You know, these types of things give you better results, whether you're on drugs or not on drugs.
- 30:57[SPEAKER_00]: And the data just shows it unequivocally.
- 30:59[SPEAKER_00]: So that's kind of some of the things that we're excited about bringing illuminating for people.
- 31:04[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 31:05[SPEAKER_00]: Well, also like saving people time and money as well.
- 31:09[SPEAKER_01]: for real.
- 31:10[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, because people waste a lot of it.
- 31:13[SPEAKER_01]: And like one of my things that I'm always saying that I do is, you know, because I've been on this journey, I have put on the way, and I have lost the way, and then I've had to learn the maintaining way or the maintaining part of the journey.
- 31:25[SPEAKER_01]: Once you're there, now you have to learn how to be this person and good luck even finding a coach to teach you and you know, I do through that, but I'm like, I want to cut back on your learning curve.
- 31:35[SPEAKER_01]: I want what took me seven years to get here.
- 31:39[SPEAKER_01]: I want this to take you to and how do we cut back on that.
- 31:43[SPEAKER_01]: How do we cut back on the time and the money and again, adding another tool, you know, into that toolbox.
- 31:49[SPEAKER_01]: When you were talking, I was like, wouldn't it be cool if one day we had a device and we could see like, oh, I started this GLB one or like, I started doing, I don't know, whatever and it showed you the ripple effect, you know, on the pink flags and stuff, but then also showed you like, oh, you just decreased your life by eight years.
- 32:08[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah, and what like deeper into it and could tell you.
- 32:12[SPEAKER_00]: We're starting to get there.
- 32:13[SPEAKER_00]: We're actually starting.
- 32:14[SPEAKER_00]: Oh my god.
- 32:15[SPEAKER_00]: And you know biological age and age scores are kind of this thing now that her merging is a trend and a lot of times they're based on blood biomarkers right now.
- 32:25[SPEAKER_00]: So if you have like cholesterol.
- 32:28[SPEAKER_00]: challenges or, you know, inflammation like CRP and metabolic markers like A1C like these blood biomarkers kind of feed into a biological age score and that's the it's a great start but blood biomarkers are also something that you don't measure like, you know, every week and so.
- 32:45[SPEAKER_00]: some people may go years without measuring them, but I recommend people do measure them if they aren't.
- 32:51[SPEAKER_00]: But in any case, with these two measurement tools, since we're breaking down the barriers of access, so where you can do them more often, it actually allows you to calibrate that kind of aging score concept a lot more effectively.
- 33:07[SPEAKER_00]: And so, you know, basically, there's a reason why like the government, for example, focuses on at the population health level, things like obesity, right?
- 33:17[SPEAKER_00]: For one, it's very visual like people can, you know, visually understand it and stuff, but there's a movement right now that may actually change the definition of obesity in the U.S., and it was previously based on BMI.
- 33:32[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, which body mass index, a lot of people think that's the same as body composition, but it's not.
- 33:38[SPEAKER_00]: It's really basically your weight relative to your height.
- 33:41[SPEAKER_00]: So a problem with BMI that I'll share a personal story about this actually for myself is,
- 33:48[SPEAKER_00]: as a former athlete and somebody who as a man is relatively small on the scale of just like sizes.
- 33:56[SPEAKER_00]: I've always thought of myself as not fat, right?
- 33:59[SPEAKER_00]: And so but after stalling out in sports and kind of going through like spending a bunch of time at a desk and just eating whatever and being like, oh, I'm relatively small.
- 34:09[SPEAKER_00]: I'm like fine and like lucky me, right?
- 34:12[SPEAKER_00]: And once I started getting to
- 34:16[SPEAKER_00]: actual body composition, not being my or weight, right?
- 34:19[SPEAKER_00]: I realized that I was actually categorized as overweight and I was heading towards obesity despite my scale weight being small and it was because I was basically skinny fat.
- 34:31[SPEAKER_00]: sharing a lot of fat that you couldn't really see too much if I was wearing the right clothes.
- 34:36[SPEAKER_00]: And it was a shocker to me because I thought of myself as relatively fit.
- 34:41[SPEAKER_00]: And I will say that the first time anyone measures their body composition, most everybody is not super happy with the results.
- 34:51[SPEAKER_00]: And this kind of funny as a business, you're like, hey, our magic moment.
- 34:55[SPEAKER_00]: The first magic moment you get is when you do this scan and it uses all this fancy
- 35:01[SPEAKER_00]: And by the way, very accurately, we benchmark off of Dex and it's comparable to Dex and accuracy.
- 35:07[SPEAKER_00]: But in any case, yeah, it's a little bit of like, oh yeah, I actually kind of knew that I wasn't where I wanted to be, right, so it's not that big of a surprise, but it was a surprise to me and many others like how far off it can get when you actually look a little deeper.
- 35:22[SPEAKER_00]: But the amazing thing to me was that I actually only needed to make small changes and then stick with those over a long period of time and I actually gained scale weight, but lost about 40% of my body fat.
- 35:38[SPEAKER_01]: Wow, so hot.
- 35:40[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 35:41[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 35:42[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I want to do it for two years.
- 35:44[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 35:44[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 35:45[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 35:45[SPEAKER_00]: So that's six months.
- 35:46[SPEAKER_00]: Not six weeks.
- 35:47[SPEAKER_00]: No, and it was slow and steady, but I could actually see it in the data like almost weekly.
- 35:53[SPEAKER_00]: I can see tiny changes.
- 35:54[SPEAKER_00]: But
- 35:55[SPEAKER_00]: I had up weeks and down weeks just like everyone else, but as I was chipping away at it, I could see the changes in the data and it almost looks like a perfect body recomposition where it's like body fat percentage went from I was around 23-24 percent body fat.
- 36:11[SPEAKER_00]: at around 150 pounds of weight.
- 36:14[SPEAKER_00]: And now I hovered chipically around like 12 to 13 percent body fat around 160 pounds of weight.
- 36:21[SPEAKER_00]: And it's just, yeah, I mean, people who knew me then and know me now are like, it's night and day different.
- 36:28[SPEAKER_00]: But not only that, here's a weird reaction that I wasn't expecting.
- 36:31[SPEAKER_00]: People actually say that I look slimmer.
- 36:34[SPEAKER_00]: and I'm carrying 10 extra pounds from what it was back then.
- 36:38[SPEAKER_00]: And I think it's just because again, my waste looks liberalative to my frame when I'm carrying healthy amount of liais.
- 36:46[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I can relate because like I'm a broader girl up top.
- 36:50[SPEAKER_01]: Like, and so when I'm
- 36:52[SPEAKER_01]: lifting my lats and like building my shoulders and, you know, I get to that physique like my waist looks tiny.
- 37:00[SPEAKER_01]: You know, and I'm building my thighs and my glutes and everything and that changes the look.
- 37:05[SPEAKER_01]: So I can relate.
- 37:08[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 37:08[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm like actually I can bench my own bodyweight.
- 37:13[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 37:14[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I love the fact that strong is becoming, you know, culturally more accepted.
- 37:20[SPEAKER_01]: We're getting there, Jason.
- 37:21[SPEAKER_01]: We're getting there.
- 37:22[SPEAKER_01]: And maybe this would kind of be like a good segue into the next part that I want to talk about.
- 37:26[SPEAKER_01]: You could help me get this message out because it's still so hard to get people to see the value of being strong.
- 37:34[SPEAKER_01]: And God, I'm just always like, I just want to ask people.
- 37:38[SPEAKER_01]: Like, and it's, I just want to be rude.
- 37:40[SPEAKER_01]: But I just want to be like,
- 37:43[SPEAKER_01]: which the scan would tell us, it's happening to your body.
- 37:47[SPEAKER_01]: When you just get up, you go to work every day, you sit at your desk, you might go over a walk, you eat, you know, go to grocery shopping, come home.
- 37:56[SPEAKER_01]: And there's no like resistance training.
- 37:58[SPEAKER_01]: There's no like real activity or like stressing your body.
- 38:01[SPEAKER_01]: Like in your mind, how do you justify not
- 38:04[SPEAKER_01]: strength training.
- 38:05[SPEAKER_01]: Like, what do you really think is happening to your body?
- 38:07[SPEAKER_01]: I would just love to know what people think because little do they know they're just shriveling away to nothing.
- 38:13[SPEAKER_01]: They are getting older faster.
- 38:15[SPEAKER_01]: And their body, when you're not building up that muscle or if you're like on a process and like you're decreasing fat, you're going to look like a deflated bulloon.
- 38:24[SPEAKER_01]: You're just getting a look like this floppy
- 38:28[SPEAKER_01]: It was just one of the things that scares me about the GLP ones.
- 38:31[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, oh my god, yeah, sure, body fat's going down.
- 38:33[SPEAKER_01]: But like, what's your body going to look like when you're not refilling it, you know?
- 38:38[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, I'm like, I can get out of so far.
- 38:40[SPEAKER_01]: Well, where's that one?
- 38:41[SPEAKER_00]: I like the way that you start some of that though because like I've been expelled let's let the audience share a feedback and say like is this a good way for me I've been hearing recently a good way of saying like okay you don't get old and then stop moving you stop moving and then you get old right and so and that could be the same like uh with
- 39:02[SPEAKER_00]: Progressive overload resistance training is what kids naturally do when their babies and then they start developing and then I have two little ones a six year old and almost three year old and all day long they're just pushing their limits of what they can do and
- 39:23[SPEAKER_00]: it's sort of built into us at that age, but then over time, we become more efficient.
- 39:28[SPEAKER_00]: And so efficient, that sounds good, right?
- 39:31[SPEAKER_00]: Like it's better to be efficient, but the problem with efficiency is that it causes deterioration because you're basically shedding the things you don't use, right?
- 39:43[SPEAKER_00]: So we become very efficient at sitting all day.
- 39:46[SPEAKER_00]: we become very efficient at like staring only one foot away from us at a screen, right?
- 39:53[SPEAKER_00]: And which affects your eye health and all sorts of other stuff.
- 39:58[SPEAKER_00]: And so there's many reasons and it sounds very counterintuitive.
- 40:02[SPEAKER_00]: To just expose ourselves to things that are not quote unquote efficient.
- 40:06[SPEAKER_00]: And I don't want to take that analogy too far because like if I go into the gym, I may only have 30 minutes to an hour.
- 40:12[SPEAKER_00]: I want to be efficient with my time in the gym, right?
- 40:16[SPEAKER_00]: So it doesn't mean like waste time for no reason or anything like that, but it means that, you know, challenging your body is doing movements that if you took like a caveman or a farmer or something like this and you brought them to a gym, they would be like, why are these people just picking these heavy things up and putting that down?
- 40:35[SPEAKER_00]: like it's insanity, right?
- 40:38[SPEAKER_00]: But it's because they're doing that all day every day, you know, I'm this a bit of a romantic story because I wasn't there, but you know, basically throughout evolution and time we have been very physically active.
- 40:51[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 40:51[SPEAKER_00]: And in our modern world, it's very easy to not be.
- 40:55[SPEAKER_00]: And I'll be honest, like, there's days when I get busy, I've been working in this industry for 15 years.
- 41:02[SPEAKER_00]: And I just days when I look at my watch and I'm like, oh, geez, I'm at like 1,000 steps.
- 41:07[SPEAKER_00]: And it's like 3 p.m. or something.
- 41:09[SPEAKER_00]: Hell yeah.
- 41:09[SPEAKER_00]: And we are all, it just happens to all of us.
- 41:12[SPEAKER_00]: But I get that feedback and I'm like, okay, I'm either going to decide
- 41:16[SPEAKER_00]: Today is a sacrificial day because I really have some really big deadline I need to hit or something and I'm not going to beat myself up over that or I'm just going to say to look whatever I'm doing can wait 10 minutes I'm just going to go outside and walk around the block real quick and I know that if I do that through practice and feedback that I will feel a lot better yeah and you know it's tricky I used to be like very critical of people who didn't do the things I'd be like here let me tell you here the things you need to do.
- 41:44[SPEAKER_00]: and then people will be like, okay, sounds good, and then not do it.
- 41:48[SPEAKER_00]: And over time I've come to realize like, especially with having young children at home, there's a lot of compromise that needs to be made.
- 41:56[SPEAKER_00]: And again, comes full circle too.
- 41:59[SPEAKER_00]: The beauty of having a gym and having such amazing tools like jim equipment slash, you know,
- 42:07[SPEAKER_00]: a deficit scan in your phone is that most people can afford to get access to a gym, most people can afford to, or most people have a phone.
- 42:16[SPEAKER_00]: If you're listening to this, I'm sure you have a phone.
- 42:19[SPEAKER_00]: So you can use that phone and use that gym just in a slightly different way a few times a week and it can actually compound to some amazing results if you stick with it.
- 42:29[SPEAKER_00]: And we really want to show the progress that comes back to, like you said, with Tony Robbins, the power of saying from people like Tony Robbins is they can be everyone's settings.
- 42:38[SPEAKER_00]: I know.
- 42:39[SPEAKER_00]: I know.
- 42:40[SPEAKER_00]: You can be more less as they can be Jason's and anyone listening.
- 42:43[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I just have to add this into because like we have our phone in our hand all the time.
- 42:47[SPEAKER_01]: Like it hate it.
- 42:49[SPEAKER_01]: I get off my body as often as I can.
- 42:51[SPEAKER_01]: But it's a tool in our life.
- 42:52[SPEAKER_01]: Like we don't even go without it anymore.
- 42:54[SPEAKER_01]: And we can use that in our on our
- 42:58[SPEAKER_01]: There's so many times that we just think like, we think I just need to start eating better.
- 43:04[SPEAKER_01]: I just need a workout plan, you know, and that's going to be the fix.
- 43:08[SPEAKER_01]: And we just, you said, had said this early on in our conversation about like connecting the dots and how you start connecting dots at like so many other components.
- 43:17[SPEAKER_01]: need to come together to help you be successful until not go backwards again, you know, your relationship, your environment, your rest, your recovery, yes, your your weight training, yes, your nutrition and everything, all those things have to come together.
- 43:32[SPEAKER_01]: And again, I just have to say, I love that this tool can show you when you are off and you're not balanced.
- 43:40[SPEAKER_01]: And because your screwed up relationship or, you know, energy suckers in your life, whatever, that's going to show up in your rest, that's going to show up in your sleep.
- 43:49[SPEAKER_01]: And again, this is something that it's right there.
- 43:52[SPEAKER_01]: You have it all the time.
- 43:53[SPEAKER_01]: It's not like something that's going to get dusty in your closet.
- 43:56[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, I don't find that phone.
- 43:58[SPEAKER_01]: You know, like it can be there if you want it to be.
- 44:00[SPEAKER_01]: It can be a daily reminder for you and to see where in my life and my office.
- 44:06[SPEAKER_01]: And then bring it back together.
- 44:07[SPEAKER_00]: 100%.
- 44:08[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and we've tried really hard to position bit not as like a slap on the wrist either, right?
- 44:14[SPEAKER_00]: So I think there's no shame in being busy and overwhelmed, right?
- 44:19[SPEAKER_00]: Like that's actually pretty status quo now in 2025 for a lot of people.
- 44:25[SPEAKER_00]: And in many ways, life is more comfortable and easier than ever before.
- 44:29[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I
- 44:30[SPEAKER_00]: but it's also more demanding and like isolating and like a lot of shaming out there as well.
- 44:38[SPEAKER_00]: And these are intended to be tools that help you with self-awareness and help you have a conversation with yourself really.
- 44:46[SPEAKER_00]: And it's just a joke.
- 44:48[SPEAKER_00]: Right in this moment.
- 44:49[SPEAKER_00]: I'm never going to be perfect right in this moment.
- 44:51[SPEAKER_00]: What's a little thing that I can do right or maybe the little thing is like just go to bed a little earlier and try to do something tomorrow.
- 44:59[SPEAKER_00]: Right now sometimes it's not doing something like watching three more episodes right right.
- 45:06[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 45:06[SPEAKER_01]: No, and I'm so glad that you said that because it can't be a, like a slap in the wrist and I tell my clients when I have new clients all the time like the hardest thing that you're going to do is take those first before photos and get an idea of what's going on in your body and seeing where these numbers are at and they're right and it's so hard and they're so much guilt and shame.
- 45:26[SPEAKER_01]: like combining words with my brain.
- 45:28[SPEAKER_01]: There's so much shame that comes in those moments, but I'm like, you have to know where you're starting from.
- 45:35[SPEAKER_01]: You have to see it.
- 45:37[SPEAKER_01]: You have to face it because what got you here is shoving it onto the rug and pretending it doesn't exist.
- 45:44[SPEAKER_01]: Just buying bigger pants.
- 45:46[SPEAKER_01]: just accommodating to the life that you have that you're not happy with.
- 45:51[SPEAKER_01]: That has caused this problems.
- 45:52[SPEAKER_01]: And now we do have to look at it and just accept it.
- 45:56[SPEAKER_01]: It's just data.
- 45:57[SPEAKER_01]: This won't tell my clients all the time.
- 45:58[SPEAKER_01]: Those listening are now there on there.
- 46:00[SPEAKER_01]: She goes on the data that they like it's just data and we need to collect the data.
- 46:03[SPEAKER_01]: It's not who you are.
- 46:05[SPEAKER_01]: It doesn't define you.
- 46:06[SPEAKER_01]: You know, and we have to make sure that that data doesn't see into our feelings and our emotions.
- 46:12[SPEAKER_01]: We need to keep them separate.
- 46:14[SPEAKER_01]: Data tells us facts.
- 46:15[SPEAKER_01]: feelings and emotions are a whole other ballgame.
- 46:18[SPEAKER_00]: Totally.
- 46:18[SPEAKER_00]: And I'd be curious of your feedback on this.
- 46:21[SPEAKER_00]: I sometimes want to say, like, hey, look, imagine yourself a year from now and more whatever time present you want.
- 46:27[SPEAKER_00]: But sometimes, like, a little further out, right?
- 46:29[SPEAKER_00]: Where are you going to be?
- 46:30[SPEAKER_00]: What are you going to be doing?
- 46:31[SPEAKER_00]: What do you want to look like?
- 46:32[SPEAKER_00]: What do you want to feel like?
- 46:33[SPEAKER_00]: Kind of really picture it?
- 46:35[SPEAKER_00]: And then do a measurement right now.
- 46:37[SPEAKER_00]: Basically and get that baseline and then a year from now, if you do nothing else between now and then do another baseline measurement and see if the vision that you had today is played out right and so I don't want to be a.
- 46:53[SPEAKER_00]: down or whatever, but, you know, for most people, it doesn't.
- 46:57[SPEAKER_00]: And it's not, uh, I'm not judging anyone.
- 47:01[SPEAKER_00]: There's no shame in that.
- 47:02[SPEAKER_00]: That's actually just the norm.
- 47:04[SPEAKER_00]: And we're tend to be pretty optimistic about our long-term capabilities.
- 47:09[SPEAKER_00]: And then we go to a dark place when we kind of confront the fact that it's probably not going to happen.
- 47:15[SPEAKER_00]: And I say it that way and this is where I'm looking for feedback, not because it can't happen, right?
- 47:21[SPEAKER_00]: And it's actually not maybe as big of a thing as it sounds.
- 47:26[SPEAKER_00]: It's not like you have to change your entire life.
- 47:29[SPEAKER_00]: Over time, if you look at somebody who's gone on the transformation journey and you compare their life on day one and then you compare their life on day, whatever 500.
- 47:39[SPEAKER_00]: it looks like they transform their entire life and everything about it has changed but what gets missed is over that 500 days which was like over a year, right?
- 47:49[SPEAKER_00]: it looks like you know a year and a half or something like that told me on that but it was a very
- 47:54[SPEAKER_00]: slow and actually there was a lot of ups and downs along the way and the reason why it looks like they changed their whole life is not because they decided to be getting, I'm suddenly going to, you know, walk everywhere instead of taking the elevator or else clear, I'm suddenly going to, you know, go to bed on time every day, I'm never going to watch Netflix again, you know, going to do all these things.
- 48:15[SPEAKER_00]: It was just that as they felt better and made progress, they actually decided actually and here's another thing that I don't need.
- 48:22[SPEAKER_00]: And you start peeling off these things that right now feel like comforts that aren't part of your identity.
- 48:29[SPEAKER_00]: And you eventually realize, you don't actually need a lot of those things, but no one's gonna rip them all away from you at the beginning.
- 48:36[SPEAKER_00]: You actually just choose to do that yourself as you peel back the onion.
- 48:41[SPEAKER_01]: But you start to see your worthiness, you start to see and like how you value yourself.
- 48:48[SPEAKER_01]: And this is might be a silly example, but you're like, I'm too good for pizza.
- 48:53[SPEAKER_01]: You know, we're like, I'm actually too good to sit around and drink tonight, because how's that going to serve me for tomorrow?
- 49:00[SPEAKER_01]: And then it's going to affect my Saturday and my Sunday and you know, and
- 49:04[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you start to really value yourself in a different way.
- 49:08[SPEAKER_01]: And like you said, there is, I agree.
- 49:09[SPEAKER_01]: There's that natural like shedding of it.
- 49:11[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I don't, I don't need that.
- 49:13[SPEAKER_01]: Why was I even doing that?
- 49:14[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I have a new client right now.
- 49:16[SPEAKER_01]: And she's realizing how much time she was on her phone.
- 49:20[SPEAKER_01]: She's like, I've literally replaced my scrolling hours because she was watching that.
- 49:24[SPEAKER_01]: This is how much time I was on social media.
- 49:26[SPEAKER_01]: She's like, I've literally replaced it with working out now.
- 49:28[SPEAKER_00]: amazing night and day difference.
- 49:30[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's about the amount of time I was on.
- 49:33[SPEAKER_01]: And now this is even out of time.
- 49:34[SPEAKER_01]: I'm working out every day.
- 49:35[SPEAKER_01]: You know, and I didn't take that away from her.
- 49:38[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't take away social media or be like, you can't be on it.
- 49:40[SPEAKER_01]: If you're going to be on this journey, let's we're going to take this away.
- 49:43[SPEAKER_01]: She shed it herself.
- 49:45[SPEAKER_01]: Do you care?
- 49:46[SPEAKER_01]: When you're spawning on Jason,
- 49:48[SPEAKER_00]: Well, good.
- 49:49[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you.
- 49:49[SPEAKER_00]: I'm glad I'm not an often crazy land because, yeah, I mean, well, we are.
- 49:53[SPEAKER_01]: We are in creatures.
- 49:55[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it was like everyone else out there, but it's okay.
- 49:57[SPEAKER_01]: I'm okay.
- 49:58[SPEAKER_01]: And my doors to crazy land are wide open for other people to join.
- 50:01[SPEAKER_00]: Well, that is actually one of the last points is I get to spend a lot of time on data and technology and one of the other things that I think is important to say is like if you can like find your people basically right because and they don't they may not look like what it looks like if you're watching somebody on YouTube right like you don't have to necessarily want to hang out with
- 50:27[SPEAKER_00]: Melissa or Jason 24 seven to get value out of our content and our experience and knowledge and you know other things, but when you're actually implementing this stuff into your life, like find your people, people who are willing to go on that journey with you and support you and not drag it down.
- 50:45[SPEAKER_00]: And you know, that takes different shapes for everybody.
- 50:48[SPEAKER_00]: So, but I think it's one of the biggest factors of success, you know, getting the feedback loops and tracking and I like to say is like all the tech that we've built is obviously important.
- 50:58[SPEAKER_00]: I was training my whole life on that, but it's this like little slice of the pie and you got to, you know, take those steps.
- 51:06[SPEAKER_00]: I say that we can do almost everything for you, but we can't chew your food or move your limbs for you.
- 51:11[SPEAKER_00]: Right, right?
- 51:12[SPEAKER_00]: And we can't hug you either.
- 51:14[SPEAKER_00]: I would love to be able to hug you.
- 51:16[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I know.
- 51:16[SPEAKER_00]: Every person who uses our technology, but I know.
- 51:19[SPEAKER_00]: It'd be like, what is this guy doing?
- 51:22[SPEAKER_01]: I just love you.
- 51:23[SPEAKER_01]: I'm so proud of you.
- 51:24[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 51:26[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, no.
- 51:26[SPEAKER_01]: I feel you on that one.
- 51:28[SPEAKER_01]: Jason, this has been like so incredible.
- 51:31[SPEAKER_01]: What a great conversation around this.
- 51:33[SPEAKER_01]: And I feel so safe talking about this with you, too.
- 51:35[SPEAKER_01]: Like I don't feel like it was like such a
- 51:37[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 51:38[SPEAKER_01]: People get weird when she start talking about like scanning your body and knowing your numbers and collecting the data like we talked about that fear and this was just so I don't know just eye opening and like safe.
- 51:47[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know what other word to use and just such a great place for people to really create change for the rest of their life and never have to look back.
- 51:58[SPEAKER_00]: You know, and you will have even with the feedback, there will be ups and downs.
- 52:03[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 52:04[SPEAKER_00]: And the idea, though, is that you don't want it to be a year before you find out that you're on a down slope.
- 52:11[SPEAKER_00]: Nope.
- 52:12[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 52:12[SPEAKER_00]: You want to get that feedback like ideally, you know, I think weakly is a really good cadence for people.
- 52:19[SPEAKER_00]: Depending on your relationship with data and stuff like that, I get how you want to make it safe, is like maybe it's monthly for some people.
- 52:26[SPEAKER_00]: And it depends on the type of data.
- 52:28[SPEAKER_00]: If you're looking at sleep, you can obviously look at that every day.
- 52:31[SPEAKER_00]: In any case, I just want to encourage people like it's kind of a, you know, self-awareness tool.
- 52:37[SPEAKER_00]: It's a menu of options.
- 52:39[SPEAKER_00]: You can kind of fit play with it.
- 52:41[SPEAKER_00]: See what works for you.
- 52:42[SPEAKER_00]: But the idea is you don't want to go years before you get feedback on whether
- 52:47[SPEAKER_01]: right, bingo, completely agree with you.
- 52:51[SPEAKER_01]: Jason, how can people find you?
- 52:52[SPEAKER_01]: Follow you, get this.
- 52:54[SPEAKER_01]: Well, put everything in the show notes, too, but give us the, give us the download.
- 52:58[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so Sprin is the name of the company in brand and that's SPR EN five letters and you can go to sprin.com or look for Sprin in the app store.
- 53:08[SPEAKER_00]: You can find me, I'm not honestly super active on social media, but you can find me there.
- 53:14[SPEAKER_00]: And you know, I'm happy to try to respond when possible.
- 53:17[SPEAKER_00]: But in any case, we actually do respond to every message that we get through the business.
- 53:22[SPEAKER_00]: So whether you're leaving a review or you're sending us an email or whatever, we're happy to communicate with you and.
- 53:29[SPEAKER_00]: We love feedback.
- 53:30[SPEAKER_00]: This is again.
- 53:31[SPEAKER_00]: We've built the business the same way we're building like the tools to support you on the health journey Is we will learn from the community just as much as we hopefully we share with the community.
- 53:41[SPEAKER_00]: Yes Love to hear from folks and spread is where you can find us
- 53:45[SPEAKER_01]: I love it.
- 53:46[SPEAKER_01]: I love it.
- 53:46[SPEAKER_01]: You guys will put everything on the show.
- 53:48[SPEAKER_01]: No, it's case you listen to this and you're driving, but go check it out.
- 53:52[SPEAKER_01]: Why put it off?
- 53:53[SPEAKER_01]: You know, why put off something that can just help you move forward.
- 53:55[SPEAKER_01]: And we don't want to go backwards.
- 53:56[SPEAKER_01]: So Jason, thank you again for coming on.
- 53:58[SPEAKER_01]: I hope we can work together in the future.
- 54:00[SPEAKER_01]: I hope we can keep this conversation going.
- 54:02[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that'd be exciting.
- 54:03[SPEAKER_00]: I appreciate you Melissa.
- 54:04[SPEAKER_00]: And hopefully we shared some nuggets today and thanks everyone for listening to.
