Your Brain Needs Training, Not More Information · The Expert Method

• speaker-0: What we say about the body is even more true for the brain is like if you don't use it, you lose it. You're outsourcing a lot of your brain activity to the AR. The consequence is that your brain is deteriorating. You lose capacity. Think for yourself. Think for yourself. speaker-1: Today's guest is Arnold Beeks. Arnold is a brain fitness trainer whose work focuses on helping people deliberately train how they think, feel, and respond to the events in their life. In our conversation, we talk about why your brain needs training just like the rest of your body does, what that training looks like in practice, and why keeping your own thinking active matters more as AI does more of the work for us. If you get value from this conversation, be sure to subscribe and share it with a friend. And now please enjoy my conversation with Arnold Beeks. Arnold, thank you so much for being here. speaker-0: Well, very happy and excited to be here as well, Ian. Thank you very much. speaker-1: Absolutely. I'm excited to talk with you because what your work and your perspective I think is going to be brand new for our podcast here today. So excited to add this to the discography that are the discussions that we've had here so far on the podcast. But Arnold, your work revolves around brain training and training your mind, training your brain. And most of us think that taking care of our brain means learning more, right? Listening to podcasts, reading books, taking courses. And now we have AI, you know, giving us more information that we know what to do with. But your work starts with a different idea that the brain itself needs to be trained. So what do you mean when you say that the brain needs training? speaker-0: Well I help people in training with using your three brains. You don't have one brain, you have three brains. And if people talk about brain, they most of the time refer to this lump of fat under your skull. And that is what most for people is doing your thinking. So that's that's how people think and Then they yeah, they point to their head and and everything like that. That is just one of your three brains. There you also have a heart brain. Yes, you your physical heart and your heart around there. As your head brain does mostly focused on thinking, your heart brain is mostly focused on knowing. Your heart brain From an energy point of view, is actually much more powerful than your head brain, but we don't know it. Because like yourself, Ian, and like myself, we didn't know we had it. So if you don't know you have it, you don't know how to use it, you don't know how to listen to it. The same is true for your gut brain. So you have three brains: head brain, heart brain, gut brain. Your gut brain is more about your feelings. And when are we. Performing or being in the right way when there's coherence between those three brains. So actually, this is where my brain training starts: is like understanding that you have three brains and then starting to, I didn't know I had that. What can I do with it? How does it work? What why how can I use it? And it's Interesting that you say there must be kind of symbiosis between those three brains, but how does that work? So that's one part of my answer to your question, Ian. Yeah, yeah, the other question is like, why should we train our brain? And yes, most people think and act like I finished school, I finished my education. And it doesn't matter whether you go to university or some or you're trained to be a plumber or an electrician or whatever. Most people think by the time you're twenty-five, I'm done. That's my brain. Yeah, and now and then you will learn something new, a new tool or a new training, or but mainly that that is about it. That's incorrect. Your brain, just like your body, starts to first slowly deteriorate after your age of thirty. So what most people know by this time, and this knowledge is now common knowledge, but for instance, for my parents it was not common knowledge, is that your body starts to decline also after your age of 30. At first it's slow, so when you're 35, 40, you say, Arnold, what you're saying is nonsense. But I took care eight years from my mother, who was in her eighties and nineties, you can clearly see it. So Unless we exercise and you don't need to go to the gym, but strength training is really important by the way. But you can play tennis, you can go swimming, you can walk go walk your dog, you can play football, soccer in in in in your country. But it's like and we know it's important, we know we gotta do it. Mo well doesn't mean everybody do, but a lot of people. That's good. That's to keep your body from declining and and to keep it at least. Well, try to keep it at a flat level. My mother never did any kind of strength training, so by the time she was in her eighties and we were having lunch and we have a sandwich with gem and then there was a jar of gem and she had to open it, she didn't have the strength to open it. That's because she didn't train it. I would it be the same and you also, if you don't train it, you you can you so that's with your body. That exactly is the same. For your brain. Your brain starts to deteriorate. So your clarity, your memory, your your making connection with it, it starts to deteriorate if you do nothing. But that is what most people do, because most people are like, well, like myself, like when I finish university, I'm fed up with all these tests and exams and and and always have to learn this with with I don't know why I have to learn that I'm done. That's not good, because then your brain goes downhill. But your brain has something very unique, which your body doesn't have, your brain can even grow new neurons, new cells in your brain, and basically until you die. So that's not gonna happen in your body. So it's like what we say about the body. is even more true for the brain, is like if you don't use it, you lose it. And then I'm coming to the last point of your you had a lot of questions in one, is is like, what about the AR? The AI in the way it's used by a lot of people at the moment, you're outsourcing a lot of your brain activity to the AI. And as I just have explained, the consequence is that your brain is deteriorating. You lose capacity. And that is not only for simple tasks, that's also for highly complex tasks. This is also this is not only for blue collar workers, this is true for highly, highly people white collar workers in hospitals and everything. That's the same thing and it is happening as I'm speaking. speaker-1: Yeah. Yeah, if you don't use it, you lose it. So I would love to linger on this idea of the three different types of brains, right? Because this is new. So you have the head brain, the heart brain, and the gut brain. And as you mentioned, they each have their own function, right? And they each influence us and our behavior and our day-to-day experience in different ways. But you talked about the idea that a big large part of your work, one is bringing awareness to this fact that we have three different brains. And then second Is working with people to help develop that cohesion between those three different types of brains. So before we get into the tactical kind of how you help people create that cohesion between the head, heart, and gut brains, what does it look like for somebody to have a really fit brain and a really fit cohesion between their heart, their head, and their gut brains? Like what is a high performing, cohesive brain look like for someone? speaker-0: Would say it looks amazing. It is really amazing because it's not only your performance, maybe your cognitive activities, whatever is is going at a much higher level than you're used to. Also, your health and well being will increase a lot. And your relationships with other people. It's like connecting with other people. Your life is gonna be much more fun and interesting. And that is what I say is like If you use your brain in the right way, you're gonna unlock your potential. And you will be amazed at Ian at what you're capable of and you had no clue you could do, or highly likely your environment would say, Well, you cannot do that, it will not work, it's nothing like that. That's totally not true. The sky is literally the limit, and in the limit is only in our brain. If we think there's a limit, there's a limit. And I say there is no limitation. You can do and be whatever you like up until very old age. Let me share a quick story. Well, no, it's not a story, it's true. Many, many years ago, I was at the birthday party of my uncle. My uncle was a professor at the university. We were there, I have a small family, just a few people, and then there was the doorbell, somebody at the door, so he went and opened the door, and then to our surprise he let in a ninety two year old woman, which we had never seen, and he introduced her and said This is my PhD student. And she's just giving me her desert dissertation. This was before the digital thing, so you had to type it out and then give the manuscript to the professor, in this case my uncle. That had a deep influence on me. It's like, wow, this lady is in her 90s. And she still wrote her dissertation for a PhD in 92. I'm like, that's totally incredible. speaker-1: Yeah. speaker-0: So that's what we're talking about, Ian. And that's true for you, for me, for the ninety two year old, for everyone listening and watching. speaker-1: Yeah. So obviously the brain the the head brain is the one that we can all recognize, right? That that influences and is responsible for like the cognitive function of, you know, judgment and thinking and memory and those kinds of, you know, responsibilities that we're very familiar with with when we think of the brain. But I'd love to dig into, you know, heart brain and gut brain a little bit more because I think those are brand new to myself and to a lot of people listening. And it sounds like, you know, the heart brain, you you described it as the is the knowing, right? It is almost the the belief in what is possible or like the belief that's that you have about yourself or the people around you. I I could be butchering that. So maybe if you could help us to better understand what the heart brain is and then how we can go about exercising it and developing it, I would imagine that environment has a large influence on that, right? Because you in your environment, that's going to be what a exposing you and will help shape your beliefs and what you believe to be possible and kind of what you look look at and what you see, right? You see you seeing that 92 year old woman in her getting a getting her PhD at 92 years old had to have a massive impact on like what you know and what you believe kind of to be the the norm. So I guess just to drive this home into a clear question, could you explain in a little bit more detail kind of what that heart brain is and what it's responsible for and then how we can go about You know, exercising it and training that brain. speaker-0: Well most people think of the heart as as a blood pump. Yeah, it's like when you breathe it yeah pumping blood s through your veins in in and out and and it's a pump. Well there are people who say that's not totally true, but that's not what I want to discuss. Your heart brain is totally different and your heart brain is talking to you all the time. But if I don't know that someone is talking to me, I don't listen. Yeah. Or as in most of us, including myself, it's like our head brain is so dominant, we have sixty to eighty thousand thoughts per day. And I'm not talking about the moment you're sleeping. So this is in your awakening hour. It continues, by the way, while you're sleeping, but you don't know. But it's like out of the sixty to eighty thousand thoughts, roughly ninety percent is a repetition of the same thoughts you had yesterday and the day before and the day before and the day before. And a lot of those thoughts are negative. Arnold, that's not going to work. Arnold, that that's That meeting didn't go well. Why didn't you say this? Or Ian asked this. Why did you forget that? Well it's criticizing you all the time, huh? And because you have this negative self-talk going on most of your awakening time, and the most shitty time I tell you, and I'm sure you have experienced it, you wake up in the middle of the night that your thoughts go in all kinds of directions. That's really sh, yeah? But it's like that makes so much noise. Because of this noise I cannot hear and feel my heart. My heart is also talking to me. My heart also says Arnold, have a look at this. Why don't you check that? Hey, you saw something about a book. Maybe you should check out that book. Let me give an experience of last evening. I saw on X Twitter a It was a compilation of old videos of Bruce Lee. Bruce Lee is a very interesting guy, by the way. And those video clips, really nicely done, and it's about coaching and growth and personality, part of the stuff what we're talking about. And I was like, wow, that's interesting. And I've read a few years ago a book written by his sister, because Bruce Lee died when he was 33. He was very young. And I was like, I was connecting these things and I'm like Maybe I should research this further. So I did. I started the research around it and whatever. And I started using AI, not as say I AI. I want to know about his life and work and his training and what he did and whatever. So I'm using it for the benefit not for the good. And then it's like, Arnold, you could say that Bruce Lee is a brain athlete as you define it today. That's what he was then. I'm like, that's cool. That's really nice. That voice inside of me which says, Arnold, you need to dig into Bruce Lee further. That's my heart saying is like, Arnold, this is going to help you. This is interesting. This is good for you. Let me give another example. These examples work the best instead of theoretical understanding. well, I'm Listening a lot to podcasts. I'm doing that already for what's it, 10, 15 years for a long time. I I listened to 20, 30 different ones. That's how I gained a lot of my knowledge around stuff. And there's now one an interview with a person who's written a book. It's called The Invisible Architect. And it's not about building, it's it's about making a connection. Inside of you, which you can call the source, you can call it God, you can call it the divine. You it doesn't matter. There's a voice inside you which is trying to help you. And this person calls it the invisible architect. I'm like, this is where I'm working on for quite some time now. So I'm gonna check out this book, I'm gonna buy this book, I'm gonna it's a two-hour podcast. I'm gonna definitely go to listen to this. So my heart is pointing me in the right direction. It's not like Arnold, you should skip this podcast. No, Arnold, this podcast where you talk about what I talk about, my quest. I call it my quest. A lot of people are always struggling. What's my purpose in life? What's my meaning in life? Whatever. It's not just a different word, there's a different understanding. I say it's much more interesting to have a quest. What am I trying to find an answer in my life? My quest is how the invisible drives the visible. So when someone is talking about an invisible architect in our lives, you got my attention. speaker-1: Yeah. Right. speaker-0: That is my hard brain. Previously I wouldn't have noticed all these things. I would have just skipped on and do other stuff. Yeah. Now is my heart thing. Arnold, this is helpful for you. Pay attention. speaker-1: Yeah, so the heart brain really is the source of curiosity, of interest, of intuition, right? That heart brain really is the connection to the divine, to that invisible architect, to that invisible force that we all have a connection with. And you know, the development of that heart brain comes down to one, the awareness that it exists innately in all of us. And then second, it's a quieting of that head brain that is so dominant in all of our lives. And you can understand why that is, you know. We evolved from where we came from, right? You know, we had to constantly be on the lookout for threats to stay alive, right? So that head brain was really important to keep us safe and to keep us alive. But so that head so getting in touch and being able to hear that heart brain is largely done just by quieting that head brain, right? Those 60 to 80,000 thoughts per day, just the quieting of that so that you can hear the heart brain, which shows up as curiosity, it shows up as Interest, it shows up as intuition. And then the strengthening, the building of the muscle that is the heart brain is, I would assume, done by pursuing those things, right? By listening to it, by playing it out, by hearing that natural curiosity, hearing that intuition, following that interest that you have, and just letting it take you wherever it does. Is that about right? Like can you develop your heart brain by one? speaker-0: Absolutely, absolutely. So that that is when I did a few years ago when I like I said, all of this stuff was new to me as well. And I I started, I'm like, how can I grow this? How can I learn this? Whatever. And one of the main exercises is do at least once a day. A focus on what you appreciate right now. What am I appreciating right now? And appreciate doesn't mean it's like I'm getting married, I'm getting a kid, and I just passed my exam, I get no no. Those are just things which happen in a handful of times throughout your lifetime. No. What do you appreciate? Your bit of water which you just took? Yeah, it's like yeah, what are small things which you appreciate, right? No. And think about that and try to have recreate that feeling. I I appreciate because somebody helped me with this or had some nice feedback and I'm like, I I feel seen, I feel heard. That that really feels nice. So I'm practicing that every day. Because I'm I'm not well I'm very dominant red brain, yeah. So it's like I'm training that and it's working. So but also it's it's what you appreciate, is like there's a very famous exercise with a lot of people most likely know. It's like every day write down three sinks where you're grateful for. What are you read for? Write it down every day. And not the same things every day, preferably something different. That trains yourself to focus on to get you in in in a high frequency energy, get you in a positive mood, yeah. And then you start to Where your head brain is mainly focused on on the fight or flight or the negativity bias or that will go wrong or I d I forget to do this or whatever. We're more coming from a love, from appreciation, from like. speaker-1: Yeah. Yeah. And I could see how that intentional gratitude, like articulation of things that you're grateful for, the little things in your life can reorient that that headbrain fixate on something else. Right. Like again, that the headbrain really good at finding evidence for whatever you want to find evidence for. It can if you have it oriented towards like all the different reasons why this isn't gonna work, it's gonna find a bunch of evidence for why these things isn't gonna work. But it If you just have that intentional practice of writing down three things that you're grateful for every day, it kind of gets the the head brain oriented on finding the things that you're grateful for and just kind of shifts like you you call it the energy, the frequency of the head brain for the day, which can allow again, it it quiets that and then it will allow for that heart brain to shine through and you know, the curiosity, the interest, the intuition again. Well, we talked about that connection with the divine to to be heard and then it's on you to then to then follow it, which I think would lead us to where does the gut brain play into all of this? Like what is the the the responsibility? speaker-0: Brain is is to help you with grounding. But your gut brain is also around courage. It's like, yeah, yeah, you need to have the courage to change, or the courage to do new things, or the courage to try new things. Yeah. So yeah, yeah, yeah. Well, I assume a lot of well for a lot of people it's it's a one of the biggest fears like giving a presentation for a big group of people. Yeah, that it It's for a lot of people very frightening. I love it by the way, but a lot of people find it very frightening. But it's like that's when you feel it in your stomach, when you in your gut is is like So your good brain, you you need your good courage and showing you what's happening. So It's not that they work in isolation. It's like The connection between the three, because it's like you have you have been given all those three brains. So if you start using them, they start to help and enforce and strengthen each other. And to do something new. And to learn and to grow and to see that your whole world opens up. Which I long time ago I I had very senior positions in the corporate world. But I was mostly related to the people I knew. Yeah. Whether employees, whatever. And I I was not so good in meeting strangers. Now it's the thing which I love most in my life is like talking to strange people and within five minutes I got a good connection. In the past it was totally different. Yeah? So I'm now living in my fifth country. I started doing this ten years ago. I'm not twenty five anymore. So it's like I live in different countries. In every country I went to I knew nobody, I didn't speak the language and I know no one. Now I build up connections just like this. Why is that? Because of my energy. Because of how I relate with people. People like if you if you're nice and kind, they were well, your audience can see you have a nice smile. It's like, yeah, if you have your nice smile, people can easily connect with you. Then what most people are these days, they're very grumpy and they only look at their phones and they don't even notice other people. So it's like your whole world becomes more interesting and nice and kind and friendly and you start to appreciate small things in life and enjoyable things. Like, hey, I'm having a good day, I'm having a nice conversation with Ian. Cool, that's so great. did you earn any money with it? No, it's not relevant. It's like I'm I'm just talking with Ian and hopefully with his audience. It's like I love it. It's really great. speaker-1: Yeah. Yeah. And you can see, you know, in that example you talked about the idea that they don't operate in isolation, right? It's a it's a unit, right? It's a unit that works together, right? The the head brain has its own responsibilities of storing memory and knowledge and the things that you learn, right? That's where that is controlled. But then, you know, there's the the quieting of it that needs to take place, which is just the natural orientation to have those fearful kind of negative thoughts. That are just, you know, kind of programmed into us, we pick up subconsciously. But anyways, the the whole unit works together where when you can quiet the head brain and then you can hear the heart brain speak to you. And then the gut brain is responsible for giving you the courage to go out and try the new thing that your heart brain is calling for and just go pursue it for no other reason of just you want to do it, right? You're curious about it, you're interested in it, right? The gut brain gives you the courage to step in and just go pursue that. And you're gonna have to kinda again quiet the head brain to be like the head brain's gonna think, well, that's not a good use of time. That's not gonna make me any money. It's like okay, I I hear ya, I hear ya, but we're gonna push past that because I just want to pursue this thing, right? my heart brain is is talking to me, it's calling to me to go do this thing. so I'm just gonna follow that. speaker-0: Exactly. Yeah. speaker-1: So for myself and the people listening, if we wanted to you know, we we hear this, it all makes sense, and we want to begin our brain training, right? We want to begin our path of being a brain athlete, as you called it, as Bruce Lee is or was, what can we if we wanted to start brain training tomorrow, what should we do? speaker-0: Well the c the couple of things where you can start with. The first thing which I'm gonna mention, Ian, it sounds simple, but it's not. And it's like be kind to yourself. Because we have that inner voice we have a couple of different inner voices, but there's this main inner voice which we all know by the name the inner critic. Yeah. That is for most well, no mo I would say all people. I I I've mentioned this to many, many people, and I've not met anyone who says, Yeah, it's always very nice to me and very kind. No, it's it it's most of the time very ugly. Yeah. And the things which your inner voice says to yourself is like Arnold, that was shitty. Arnold, you forget to mention this. Arnold, why didn't you do this? Arnold, you you should have done this. It goes on and on and on, yeah? And if I would respond to other people the way my inner critic responds to me, I would get hit in the face. And so it's like that is what's happening to most people. So if you start your growth, your change process, you get to say to the inner critic, Well, thank you very much for warning me, for protecting me maybe. But now I would like to hear my inner cheerleader. Now I would like to hear what I did well, what went okay. So number one, be kind to yourself. And if I'm kind to myself, that's the only way to be kind to other people. How can I be kind to other people? I can be superficially kind, but I don't mean it because I'm angry with myself. speaker-1: Yeah. speaker-0: But if I'm really feeling good and excited and enthusiastic and kinda People re respond to that. People feel attracted to you. So be kind to yourself. The next one is help other people. Stop thinking about yourself all day and everything else. Like how can you be kind to other people? Hold up a door. Greet someone in what they during the COVID thing called bullsh jobs. The waste collectors. Say good morning to them. Everybody ignore these people. Mm. So help other people with things like, well, I don't know about my computer. Can you help me? I have a friend who who lives in a in a community with people who are older than fifty five. Well, I think well a lot of them are above eighty or whatever. So he's all the time helping them with can you help me with my phone? Can you help Maybe with this, yeah, I need to pay a bill and I don't know how it works. He's very friendly people. So he's helping those people. So help other people. Because helping other people, yes, it helps other people, but it also makes you feel good about yourself. And the third thing I would like to say is, and I will explain what I mean by these terms, is called diverge and converge. Diverge means allow your Curiosity. Most of us have the experience as a child even growing up at home or definitely at school, you're not supposed to be curious. You're only supposed to ask the questions which I tell you to ask and not as like why is the sky blue? And how how does a bird get water to drink or how is it possible that Well actually it is real truth. There are birds who fly two thousand kilometers every season to just build a nest. Why is that? Huh? Just be curious. Find out what it is. And once you have and it can be any different topic and it doesn't have to be a goal, it's just like I wanna know. That's diverge, you you can go in any different direction, it doesn't matter. Converge is like create something based on hey, I've learned this, I've learned this, I've learned this. Why don't we do this? So you're connecting the dots. You're like or hey I I'm I'm used to eat always potatoes and meat and gravy. What if I only eat vegetables? If I only eat raw, meaning I'm not gonna cook anything, how's that gonna look like? So diverge, converge. So be curious, create something. So there's raising, be kind, help other people, be curious and create. speaker-1: Yeah, and you can see how, again, rooted in our understanding of the three different types, three brains that we have and their different roles and functions, you can see how, you know, following your guidance of be kind, help other people, be curious and create something, kind of fits into that model of oper of tapping into the full operating system that are the three brain system and building that. But I think one of the most common themes here on the podcast has been the idea of, you know, you hinted at it, right? Searching for purpose, finding fulfillment. How do you quiet the mind? How do you, you know, how can you be kinder to yourself, right? It all comes back to the idea of just helping other people. It's found in the service of others. And I think that's our natural orientation as humans, right? It's You know, for one reason or another, right? If you watch the Century of Self documentary, you can maybe pick up some ideas there, which is where my bias is currently at. But we place so much emphasis on us and our ego and our individual self. And that's hell. That's hell. When it's all about us, when everything's about me, me, me, me, me, that is a path to hell. But as soon as you can shift your focus towards other people, right again, Bob Berg, author of The Go Giver, one of the best conversations I've had, like change my life, right? This philosophy of approach every interaction with somebody, not with what can you get from them, what can you get from this interaction, what you get from this person, but shifting your orientation to just focusing a hundred percent on what can I give? How can I help this person? What can I offer? Like that's the path to fulfillment and just like a lighter, brighter life. So it's fun to see that show up in in your work as well. this idea of just service and helping other people. speaker-0: Yeah, well in addition I totally agree. Yeah. In addition to what you're saying is that we have to understand that everything in our world is connected. Interconnected. Yeah. So it's people, but it's also with nature, with birds, with animals, with the trees, with the flowers, with with the food. Everything is connected. Nothing, nothing, nothing in this world can work in isolation. If I would be dependent on my food, whatever, I would starve to death. Everything is connected. So to be only focused on me, me, me, and every everybody else would do it is like everybody else will die. So it's like everything is connected and everybody has a small piece of the puzzle, but together we we form this this thing called society. speaker-1: And I think, yeah, connection is one of those truths, I guess. Like you you think about the idea, as soon as you isolate something, it dies, right? In our world, as soon as something is isolated, it dies. You isolate the you pull the plant from the ground, you you isolate it from its nature, it it dies. You ice the worst thing that you can do to a human being is put them into isolation, right? To take them away from that connection. So there's something to connection other people, right? This is a truth that we've all heard before, but working to create that connection is something that we lose when we're so caught up in, you know, ourselves and our and our lives and we're stuck in our head brain, right? We just are letting these sixty to eighty thousand thoughts just kind of reap havoc over our daily lives. it's really easy to lose that connection and that focus and that orientation on other people and creating that connection. Yeah. So Arnold, thank you so much for the time. I really enjoyed our conversation. I have one final question for you before we get to that. how can people find you? speaker-0: Well, I would suggest you you go to my website which is called brainathletes.club there they can find what a brain athlete is and I hope you want to become one as well. And there I you can find my training, you can find some of my books, you can see my links with social media and you can book a meeting with me if say, Hey Arnold, I listened to the podcast and I still have some questions. Find book a meeting with me and we can discuss. So that's all on brainathletes.club. speaker-1: Brainathletes.club. We'll have the link in the description. I encourage everybody to check out Arnold, you and your work. if the conversation we had wasn't eye-opening and new enough, there's a lot more to find at his website. Obviously, there's only so much we can cover in 45 minute podcasts, but Arnold would love to have you back because I think this subject is fascinating to me. And I love this conversation, so we'd love to have you back on again. But Arnold, my final question for you is a question, a recurring question that I ask every guest. But if you had a giant billboard that everyone in the world could see for ten seconds with like one message to the world, what would it say and why? speaker-0: Think for yourself. Think for yourself. We've been taught in our educational system to just copy other people, to memorize what other people say. And if we are good at it, we're good at school. No, you're not. You're just good at memorizing what some other person thinks you should know. So I would encourage you to think for yourself. And that's being Well, I would say by the minute more important with this use of artificial intelligence, because artificial intelligence is between quotes doing the thinking, and you have outsourced your thinking to a tool on a computer or on your on your phone. So really crucial not to have this deteriorating brain. My mother died of Parkinson and dementia. And sh and I told her already her body had no strength with her. I don't want to end like that. And a lot of people now much, much younger than my mother was, are having the same symptoms. So please think for yourself. speaker-1: Use your brain. Think for yourself. Yeah, that's the only way to really find yourself, right? Which I think is the the most important thing that you can do, one for you and then also for the world, right? Bringing your unique contribution, your unique gift to us. Everyone has it. And the only way to do so is to to think for yourself. So, Arnold, an important message. Thank you for your time. speaker-0: Thank you. speaker-1: Thank you for listening to my conversation. My main takeaway from my discussion with Arnold is the fact that curiosity itself and our ability to act on our curiosity and follow it is something that's worth training and something that you can train. I usually, like historically, have thought about curiosity as something that just kind of shows up or it doesn't, but Arnold gave me a more practical way to think about it. Right? I can notice what catches my attention, give myself permission to follow it and kind of the Like almost removing the restrictions that I've just completely arbitrarily set on myself on what I should and shouldn't be doing, right? These expectations that I've created for myself. just allow my curiosities and the things that kind of light me up and give me a spark and just follow those things. And it really connects back to a lot of the conversations that I've had with others on this podcast. So thank you for that, Arnold.
