- 0:05SPEAKER_00: Hello everyone, welcome into Hey Hannah.
- 0:08SPEAKER_00: How is everyone's week going?
- 0:09SPEAKER_00: Let's just go ahead and take a deep breath right now.
- 0:13SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna do this.
- 0:14SPEAKER_00: We're doing this, ready?
- 0:19SPEAKER_00: Are you breathing?
- 0:20SPEAKER_00: Let's do it one more time.
- 0:21SPEAKER_00: Ready?
- 0:26SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 0:29SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I had to do that.
- 0:30SPEAKER_00: I am a little over caffeinated this morning.
- 0:33SPEAKER_00: I'm doing that thing where I'm only making half calf coffee because that allows me to have like three cups a day.
- 0:41SPEAKER_00: I have no idea how much caffeine I'm drinking regularly.
- 0:46SPEAKER_00: I never stopped drinking it in pregnancy.
- 0:48SPEAKER_00: I haven't stopped at all in breastfeeding.
- 0:50SPEAKER_00: And I'm just a little, a little smidge cracked out right now.
- 0:56SPEAKER_00: My husband would kill me if he heard me say this.
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: He'd be like, Hannah, you need to eat more.
- 1:00SPEAKER_00: So, okay, I'm gonna eat as soon as I'm done with this podcast.
- 1:03SPEAKER_00: But hi, hello.
- 1:04SPEAKER_00: I hope everyone needed a deep breath.
- 1:07SPEAKER_00: I also have been just dealing with all the postpartum anxiety in the world.
- 1:11SPEAKER_00: So I try to do those deep breaths more than usual these days.
- 1:16SPEAKER_00: I'm so excited this week because we're about to embark on Andy's first flight.
- 1:22SPEAKER_00: She's five months old, and Peter surprised me by getting a flight to my hometown, Jupiter, to go visit my family there.
- 1:32SPEAKER_00: I talk about this so much.
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: You know, I have so many friends and family who haven't met her yet who are in Florida, and it's just like sort of kills me.
- 1:38SPEAKER_00: And it's and I get why we haven't gone.
- 1:41SPEAKER_00: It's like the worst time to go to Florida, the best time to be in the Midwest, you know?
- 1:46SPEAKER_00: By the way, the weather in the Midwest, it could not be better.
- 1:50SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh, it is like 70 to 75 all day, every day, perfectly sunny.
- 1:55SPEAKER_00: The mornings and the evenings are like that crispy.
- 1:57SPEAKER_00: Oh, I just need a little sweater type weather.
- 2:00SPEAKER_00: Ugh, perfect.
- 2:01SPEAKER_00: Now, August in Florida, the worst month in the world.
- 2:04SPEAKER_00: I've always said that.
- 2:05SPEAKER_00: I actually have always hated August, but weirdly, July is my favorite time in Florida.
- 2:10SPEAKER_00: Make it make sense.
- 2:11SPEAKER_00: It doesn't.
- 2:12SPEAKER_00: But it's like that heavy mugginess right before hurricane season.
- 2:17SPEAKER_00: There's just like a cloud of bugs everywhere you go.
- 2:20SPEAKER_00: You know what I mean, Floridians.
- 2:22SPEAKER_00: You know what I mean?
- 2:22SPEAKER_00: But I don't care.
- 2:23SPEAKER_00: I'm overriding all of it.
- 2:24SPEAKER_00: I am so excited to go to Florida and just parade Andy around town.
- 2:30SPEAKER_00: Like she is the first princess of my family.
- 2:33SPEAKER_00: Because she is.
- 2:34SPEAKER_00: She is.
- 2:35SPEAKER_00: She's the first grandchild for my parents.
- 2:38SPEAKER_00: She's the first granddaughter for my parents.
- 2:41SPEAKER_00: She's the first niece or nephew from my brother.
- 2:44SPEAKER_00: Like she's the first, you know?
- 2:45SPEAKER_00: So I gotta do the thing.
- 2:47SPEAKER_00: I gotta go home and I just need to have moments with her in my hometown, in my childhood home.
- 2:53SPEAKER_00: I just need to have those really pure moments with her in my childhood home.
- 2:59SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh.
- 2:59SPEAKER_00: If I actually really sit and think about that, the idea of bringing my daughter to my childhood home, I could cry.
- 3:08SPEAKER_00: I could cry.
- 3:09SPEAKER_00: Is that crazy?
- 3:10SPEAKER_00: Like, I don't know if anyone has ever experienced that or feel this way, but oh, I mean, what a full circle time to be alive.
- 3:17SPEAKER_00: Like I can't even deal.
- 3:19SPEAKER_00: And I felt that way when I brought Peter there.
- 3:22SPEAKER_00: I was like, oh my God, I cannot believe I'm bringing a guy home because I've just never done it.
- 3:28SPEAKER_00: I know, I know.
- 3:30SPEAKER_00: But yeah, bringing my daughter home, especially bringing her to my bedroom, like if those walls could talk, you know, all the prayers that have been loudly, both loudly and quietly prayed in that room about all of my dreams and desires and just all those things I really desperately wanted in life, all led to her.
- 3:55SPEAKER_00: It all led to her.
- 3:56SPEAKER_00: And so to bring her back to my hometown and to just bring her to the ocean.
- 4:02SPEAKER_00: I cannot frickin' wait.
- 4:05SPEAKER_00: So that's happening this week.
- 4:06SPEAKER_00: Now I'm trying not to be one of those moms that packs 18,000 things for the flight.
- 4:12SPEAKER_00: In fact, we normally carry this massive baby bag, like a massive diaper bag, and I love it.
- 4:18SPEAKER_00: It's from base.
- 4:19SPEAKER_00: But it's a little clunky and you know, airports are annoying.
- 4:23SPEAKER_00: So I'm like, let's try to take out everything we don't need and switch bags altogether.
- 4:28SPEAKER_00: So I'm gonna bring like a little tote bag as her diaper bag, and hopefully that will suffice.
- 4:32SPEAKER_00: Now, because we're going home to where I grew up, my mom is already gonna have everything there.
- 4:38SPEAKER_00: So I'm like trying not to bring a bunch of crap because I know that Lori will, lovey Lori will have all of it there.
- 4:46SPEAKER_00: But yeah, that being said, I'm just trying to get all my ducks in a row and make sure I have everything for baby girl for the flight.
- 4:52SPEAKER_00: One of my best friends reminded me that I needed to flag the pilot and have Andy take a photo with the pilot to sort of remember her very first flight, and they give her a pair of little clip-on wings and the whole thing, which I think is adorable.
- 5:08SPEAKER_00: I remember that.
- 5:10SPEAKER_00: It's like I forgot that that existed and that people did that until my friend reminded me.
- 5:13SPEAKER_00: And I was like, Eureka.
- 5:16SPEAKER_00: I did that when I was like 10 and I went on my first flight.
- 5:20SPEAKER_00: I was so old before I flew anywhere.
- 5:22SPEAKER_00: Oh my god, my parents drove everywhere.
- 5:26SPEAKER_00: We were that family.
- 5:27SPEAKER_00: We drove to Buffalo from Florida every year.
- 5:31SPEAKER_00: Anyways, so I'm really excited to A have Andy's first experience on the flight.
- 5:39SPEAKER_00: I think it'll just be fun.
- 5:40SPEAKER_00: She might be losing her marbles, but like whatever, whatever.
- 5:44SPEAKER_00: Hopefully, I have some funny stories from this experience next time I chat with you guys.
- 5:48SPEAKER_00: But A, I'm exp I'm excited for her first flight.
- 5:50SPEAKER_00: B, I'm excited to just go home and have a peace at home myself and to jump in the ocean.
- 5:56SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh, I literally need the salt on my skin yesterday.
- 6:01SPEAKER_00: I can't explain it.
- 6:02SPEAKER_00: I haven't been home since January.
- 6:04SPEAKER_00: That's crazy for me.
- 6:06SPEAKER_00: And I I talked about this before, but I feel like having a newborn in the summer, you don't really get to experience summer, you know?
- 6:15SPEAKER_00: Like you don't get to go outside and do all of the fun crazy things because your baby is overheating and you're on a tight nap schedule.
- 6:25SPEAKER_00: But now that she's five months, I feel like we've turned the corner on a few things and I'm able to be a little bit more flexible with her.
- 6:33SPEAKER_00: That plus my whole family's there and all my friends are there, and all my friends have little kids.
- 6:38SPEAKER_00: So they've all done it all.
- 6:40SPEAKER_00: And having my mom and my stepdad there to help with extra hands, like it's just different.
- 6:44SPEAKER_00: So I feel like Peter and I will be able to have little pockets of breaks, which I'm so excited for in Florida in general.
- 6:55SPEAKER_00: I just need a little sand in my purse.
- 6:57SPEAKER_00: You know what I mean?
- 6:59SPEAKER_00: I think most people hate that.
- 7:01SPEAKER_00: But when I lived in New York, it was one of my favorite things when I would use a purse I haven't used in a while and I would see a little bit of sand on the bottom.
- 7:08SPEAKER_00: I'm like, oh, I brought this to the beach.
- 7:10SPEAKER_00: Like a little tote bag.
- 7:11SPEAKER_00: You're like, oh my God, I miss the beach.
- 7:13SPEAKER_00: I love that.
- 7:14SPEAKER_00: That sounds so typey, and I promise I'm not messy.
- 7:17SPEAKER_00: I swear.
- 7:20SPEAKER_00: But it always happens.
- 7:21SPEAKER_00: Even if you keep it as clean as possible at the beach, you're bound to get a little sand in your tote bag.
- 7:26SPEAKER_00: Anyways, what the heck am I talking about?
- 7:27SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh.
- 7:28SPEAKER_00: What else can I discuss before I dive into today's topic?
- 7:32SPEAKER_00: I've been spending a lot of good quality time with Peter's family this summer, which has been so much fun staying at his parents' house for the past week, and um his niece and nephew were here as well.
- 7:43SPEAKER_00: And we did this thing where we watched what they were calling a quote, vintage movie every night.
- 7:50SPEAKER_00: And vintage meaning it was from our childhood, like 90s babies Hello.
- 7:56SPEAKER_00: The first one I made them watch was Heavyweights, just because I feel like it is such a funny classic kids' movie.
- 8:03SPEAKER_00: It's a little ridiculous and it's so outdated, but like, oh my God, it's so good.
- 8:08SPEAKER_00: A fun fact, Peter hates when I say this, because I tell, I'll tell literally anyone who will listen, like the mailman.
- 8:14SPEAKER_00: If he mentions something about summer camp, I'll be like, hey, by the way, fun fact, listen to this.
- 8:20SPEAKER_00: The summer camp I went to in life growing up was the camp they filmed heavyweights at.
- 8:25SPEAKER_00: So I love watching it because it actually reminds me of my exact summer, although it was really just like a very normal girls' camp for June and a boys' camp for July.
- 8:35SPEAKER_00: It wasn't all the crazy theme of heavyweights by any means.
- 8:39SPEAKER_00: What else did we watch?
- 8:40SPEAKER_00: Oh, we watched Big with Tom Hanks, which is such a cute, feel-good movie.
- 8:44SPEAKER_00: That is the type of movie I feel like every child needs to watch at some point.
- 8:48SPEAKER_00: His niece and nephew are 10 and 13, so they're the perfect age to experience these movies.
- 8:53SPEAKER_00: We tried to do Parent Trap the other night, but I lost the battle and Frozen 2 was selected instead, which I don't even know what the heck was happening in Frozen 2.
- 9:03SPEAKER_00: I'm still like a full year or two away from where I need to be focused on Disney Princess era.
- 9:12SPEAKER_00: I'm happy I have time because I have not seen any of this stuff.
- 9:15SPEAKER_00: I have no idea what that movie was about, truly.
- 9:19SPEAKER_00: But his niece wanted to watch it, so we watched it.
- 9:23SPEAKER_00: So yeah, my TV recap period is really just bad 90s movies.
- 9:28SPEAKER_00: That's all I can talk about.
- 9:30SPEAKER_00: I feel like there's a reality TV show I watched.
- 9:33SPEAKER_00: Oh, oh my gosh.
- 9:35SPEAKER_00: I watched Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip, 20 year anniversary, whatever the heck that's called.
- 9:41SPEAKER_00: And I really enjoyed it.
- 9:43SPEAKER_00: It's very much like something you don't need to watch every second of.
- 9:48SPEAKER_00: I don't know about you guys, but there's certain seasons of Real Housewives where I cannot look away from the TV.
- 9:54SPEAKER_00: Like I am locked.
- 9:55SPEAKER_00: I don't want to miss an ounce of it.
- 9:57SPEAKER_00: This, not so much.
- 9:58SPEAKER_00: Now, who they chose, I thought was really fun.
- 10:00SPEAKER_00: Like I love Teresa Judece in a group setting.
- 10:03SPEAKER_00: She's one of my favorites to watch because she's actually comes off really shy and like very coy and sweet.
- 10:08SPEAKER_00: And you would never know that she got famous for what she got famous for in more ways than one.
- 10:15SPEAKER_00: But I just think she comes off very sweet in a group setting.
- 10:19SPEAKER_00: So I love watching her.
- 10:21SPEAKER_00: I don't know Lisa Barlow that well.
- 10:23SPEAKER_00: I've only dabbled into Salt Lake City and I've never really consistently watched it.
- 10:27SPEAKER_00: So I thought she was really funny.
- 10:29SPEAKER_00: Luan is hysterical.
- 10:32SPEAKER_00: Like she's probably one of the stars of the show.
- 10:35SPEAKER_00: She's so funny.
- 10:36SPEAKER_00: And I'm happy Kyle Richards is on there because she's always so fun to watch.
- 10:41SPEAKER_00: But yeah, the show was a little shticky, if you ask me.
- 10:45SPEAKER_00: And I only watched the two episodes, but the it's so into the weeds of real housewiveshood that if you haven't watched at least three full series of Housewives, you could be a little bit lost.
- 11:01SPEAKER_00: Like they recount so many very specific memories and things like that.
- 11:08SPEAKER_00: Yes, I'm enjoying it, but if you're new to the Housewives world, I don't think it's the thing you need to watch.
- 11:14SPEAKER_00: But who knows?
- 11:15SPEAKER_00: Maybe I'm too early to say that.
- 11:16SPEAKER_00: I'm only, I only just finished episode two.
- 11:18SPEAKER_00: It's definitely fun to watch and it scratches that housewives itch.
- 11:22SPEAKER_00: You know, we haven't seen Jersey in a long time.
- 11:24SPEAKER_00: I haven't seen Luann and any new content of Luann on my screen in a long time.
- 11:28SPEAKER_00: Even seeing someone like Countess Luann interact with Erica Jane, it's like, when do you see that?
- 11:33SPEAKER_00: So I'm happy with the way that they designed the show and how they have other housewives mingling in each episode.
- 11:39SPEAKER_00: That keeps it really fun because I think otherwise this group of girls and the whole sort of like shtick of it being 20 years would get a little annoying over time.
- 11:48SPEAKER_00: It's very much like, well, I changed the game.
- 11:51SPEAKER_00: Well, yeah, you might have changed the game, but I reinvented the game.
- 11:54SPEAKER_00: Like everybody's just making that argument.
- 11:56SPEAKER_00: I'm like, okay, okay, okay.
- 11:57SPEAKER_00: You all did well.
- 11:59SPEAKER_00: Like, please, it's fine.
- 12:00SPEAKER_00: You all have been on TV for 20 years.
- 12:01SPEAKER_00: Like, please.
- 12:03SPEAKER_00: Everyone needs to be the housewife franchise that reinvented the wheel, you know?
- 12:07SPEAKER_00: It's like so silly.
- 12:10SPEAKER_00: I also did start episode one of Let's Marry Harry on Netflix.
- 12:15SPEAKER_00: Peter was not thrilled with my life decisions in that moment.
- 12:18SPEAKER_00: Um, but he did stand there and watch it for what I would consider way longer than I thought.
- 12:25SPEAKER_00: I thought it was pretty much like a train wreck.
- 12:27SPEAKER_00: Although we were just interested in how they twisted it to be The Bachelor, but not.
- 12:33SPEAKER_00: You know?
- 12:34SPEAKER_00: There's no roses, it's diamond rings.
- 12:37SPEAKER_00: And because it's on Netflix, it's very much not edited.
- 12:43SPEAKER_00: So it's a little raunchy.
- 12:45SPEAKER_00: It's a little too raunchy for me.
- 12:47SPEAKER_00: And watching it, all the women immediately are just like influencers.
- 12:51SPEAKER_00: They're so beautiful.
- 12:53SPEAKER_00: And everybody just knows exactly how to do their makeup and what dress to wear.
- 12:57SPEAKER_00: Like everybody just had it going on.
- 13:00SPEAKER_00: But everyone was just really young and was obsessing over Harry Jowsey, and it was like sort of hard to watch in that sense.
- 13:07SPEAKER_00: We started that show and I don't know if I'll finish it, but I haven't watched The Bachelor in so long.
- 13:14SPEAKER_00: It almost felt like I was getting that type of show again, which felt nice, but I don't know if I can really finish the entire series.
- 13:23SPEAKER_00: On my watch list this upcoming week, though, when I'm traveling, I'm hoping to finally dive into Sterling Point.
- 13:29SPEAKER_00: I really, really, really want to watch it.
- 13:31SPEAKER_00: I also was considering watching Outer Banks from the beginning.
- 13:34SPEAKER_00: Is that crazy?
- 13:35SPEAKER_00: Let me know.
- 13:36SPEAKER_00: I love a teen drama.
- 13:38SPEAKER_00: You know, I love a little beach town.
- 13:41SPEAKER_00: So I feel like the combination would actually be good.
- 13:43SPEAKER_00: Okay, wow, I've been talking way too long about nothing.
- 13:46SPEAKER_00: Let's go ahead and jump into the topic for today.
- 13:49SPEAKER_00: I want to talk about why I feel like now, heading into September, is the best time to fully rebrand yourself before the end of the year.
- 13:59SPEAKER_00: I say this because I've I keep hearing this term.
- 14:02SPEAKER_00: I feel like everyone just discovered this term and everyone's saying it.
- 14:05SPEAKER_00: It's that I I want to make sure I get it right.
- 14:09SPEAKER_00: It's that August is the Sunday of the year.
- 14:11SPEAKER_00: Is that right?
- 14:12SPEAKER_00: Or like Sunday and August have the same vibe, right?
- 14:17SPEAKER_00: Whatever that means.
- 14:18SPEAKER_00: Basically meaning that it feels like the weekend is over.
- 14:23SPEAKER_00: The Sunday scaries of August are here.
- 14:26SPEAKER_00: Summer is over, the weekend is over, that kind of thing.
- 14:30SPEAKER_00: And this might sound ridiculous, but you know, everyone talks about January being the time to rebrand yourself.
- 14:35SPEAKER_00: January has really good PR, you know, it's all about dry January, getting in shape, dating differently.
- 14:44SPEAKER_00: Like we all enter January 1st, like, all right, we're gonna change things up.
- 14:48SPEAKER_00: This is the tone of 2026 or whatever.
- 14:51SPEAKER_00: I've strangely always found that the best time to reinvent the wheel for yourself is right at the end of summer.
- 14:59SPEAKER_00: And maybe that's because I just can't get my ducks in a row in time.
- 15:03SPEAKER_00: And I always feel like I'm spending those early days of the year just getting out of the winter hole.
- 15:10SPEAKER_00: And then you're celebrating being out of the winter hole.
- 15:13SPEAKER_00: And then suddenly you're looped into summer plans and it's like, yeah, well, I'll get to it, I'll get to it, I'll get to it.
- 15:18SPEAKER_00: And then boom, it's August.
- 15:19SPEAKER_00: The back to school stuff just like hits you sideways in the back of the neck, and you're like, oh, it is time.
- 15:24SPEAKER_00: Like, oh my God, it is almost Christmas.
- 15:29SPEAKER_00: I gotta do the thing I said I was gonna do.
- 15:32SPEAKER_00: January just kind of sucks for reinvention.
- 15:35SPEAKER_00: It's like it's still dark out, the holidays just ended, everybody is exhausted, and there's just so much pressure to become this sort of like new you just because it's January.
- 15:46SPEAKER_00: Whereas now it's like football starts, schedules come back around, school starts, people are home again, people are done with all their crazy travels, work picks up, work gets a little bit busier, you start wearing all those real clothes again.
- 15:59SPEAKER_00: Like, you know, you put on your first fall sweater and you're like, okay, we're back.
- 16:04SPEAKER_00: I don't know how, but there's a collective feeling of like, okay, we're back, we're doing this.
- 16:10SPEAKER_00: So I'm gonna talk about three ways that you can totally rebrand yourself before the end of the year.
- 16:16SPEAKER_00: Here's how I split this up in my brain.
- 16:18SPEAKER_00: Cause this is what I'm telling myself as well.
- 16:22SPEAKER_00: We're all collectively, we're gonna A, do something, B, plan something, and C, drop something.
- 16:31SPEAKER_00: This is how I'm sectioning this in my head.
- 16:33SPEAKER_00: This is how we're gonna have a better second half of the year than the first.
- 16:36SPEAKER_00: I'm a big believer on this because I feel like shifting our attitude and just dusting some dirt off is the best way to jump into fall.
- 16:45SPEAKER_00: Okay, so the first one, do something.
- 16:47SPEAKER_00: This one's easy.
- 16:49SPEAKER_00: Do the thing that you have been, quote unquote, about to do all year long.
- 16:53SPEAKER_00: I know you know what I'm talking about, but you have a list in your head of things you're like, I want to do that, but I'm a little nervous to do it.
- 17:00SPEAKER_00: I think I should do this, but I don't know if I have the gumption.
- 17:04SPEAKER_00: You're gonna send that text, you're gonna write that email, you're gonna reach out to that company, you're gonna start that project, you're gonna redo your logo, you're gonna pick up the phone, you're gonna go to the gym.
- 17:16SPEAKER_00: Any stupid thing that you're like, I want to do that, but I I haven't done it.
- 17:20SPEAKER_00: It's floating in your head.
- 17:22SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm talking about.
- 17:23SPEAKER_00: Because we're not gonna finish this by December 30th.
- 17:27SPEAKER_00: It's not like we're doing the thing that we want to have done by the end of the year.
- 17:31SPEAKER_00: No, we're doing the thing to add to our lifestyle.
- 17:33SPEAKER_00: We're doing the thing to become better people all around the board.
- 17:38SPEAKER_00: We're doing the thing that we can't wait to say to people, like, yeah, so I I have this thing, I do this thing, whatever that is.
- 17:46SPEAKER_00: It could be changing a relationship, it could be painting your house, it could be, or it could be bigger things like moving and building something new, creating a brand for yourself, like doing something that you're like, God, I should do that.
- 18:01SPEAKER_00: I really need to make time to do that, and you just haven't done it.
- 18:04SPEAKER_00: The goal here is to not have an end game.
- 18:09SPEAKER_00: The goal is to create the idea.
- 18:12SPEAKER_00: Like put the idea to life, sign up for the class.
- 18:15SPEAKER_00: Oh, how about make the appointment?
- 18:18SPEAKER_00: Start the project, apply for that thing you've been thinking about, open the document, go to that new gym class you keep hearing about, get a personal trainer.
- 18:27SPEAKER_00: Getting a personal trainer is like truly the best thing you can do.
- 18:30SPEAKER_00: And by the way, if you want to do it, hello, shout out Peter Grass Fitness.
- 18:34SPEAKER_00: You're silly if you don't do it there.
- 18:35SPEAKER_00: The best in the biz.
- 18:38SPEAKER_00: But you don't have to finish it this year.
- 18:39SPEAKER_00: You just have to stop being the person who's like, oh yeah, I want to do that.
- 18:43SPEAKER_00: You know, that's the only goal.
- 18:45SPEAKER_00: So think deeply.
- 18:46SPEAKER_00: What are you tired of hearing yourself say you're gonna do?
- 18:50SPEAKER_00: I know exactly what mine is.
- 18:52SPEAKER_00: I love to share things online.
- 18:55SPEAKER_00: I love to post things online.
- 18:57SPEAKER_00: I am constantly afraid of doing it.
- 18:59SPEAKER_00: I don't know why.
- 19:00SPEAKER_00: I'm constantly in my head about like, no, I shouldn't do that, I shouldn't say that.
- 19:05SPEAKER_00: There's so many times I have something I want to share online, and if I don't do it in that moment, it's fleeting and I forget about it.
- 19:13SPEAKER_00: I just need to start sharing more.
- 19:14SPEAKER_00: I see how easy it is for some people to do it, and I'm like, what is holding me back?
- 19:18SPEAKER_00: There's literally no work to be done.
- 19:19SPEAKER_00: It's only my like creativity that I want to express.
- 19:22SPEAKER_00: And I just, it's like allowing myself to do it.
- 19:27SPEAKER_00: And I have to let go of a weird mental blockage that's allowing me to do it because I want to.
- 19:33SPEAKER_00: It's crazy bands.
- 19:35SPEAKER_00: But maybe you want to start a Substack or a podcast or a little side business.
- 19:40SPEAKER_00: Maybe you've been wanting to find a therapist, redo your bedroom, start dating again, you know, download the dating apps, learn how to cook, take up sewing, like literally anything.
- 19:51SPEAKER_00: At some point, thinking about doing something starts to feel weirdly productive, even if we haven't moved yet.
- 19:56SPEAKER_00: So, like create a little plan and do the thing.
- 19:59SPEAKER_00: And you know, this is just about making the first move for it.
- 20:02SPEAKER_00: If you like, I want to start a podcast, okay, what are you gonna call it?
- 20:04SPEAKER_00: Let's start there.
- 20:05SPEAKER_00: It's kind of fun.
- 20:07SPEAKER_00: What do you think would your like cover art look like?
- 20:10SPEAKER_00: Like start thinking about the fun stuff.
- 20:12SPEAKER_00: Or if you want to run a half marathon, so random.
- 20:16SPEAKER_00: You don't have to run 13 miles tomorrow, but let's find a training plan you like.
- 20:22SPEAKER_00: Update your resume, like whatever.
- 20:24SPEAKER_00: I could the list goes on and on and on.
- 20:26SPEAKER_00: Just allowing yourself permission to start the thing without immediately demanding that you're gonna be an expert at it.
- 20:36SPEAKER_00: We're just gonna be able to say that we do it, you know?
- 20:39SPEAKER_00: So by December, you could say, Yeah, I'm almost done training for a half marathon.
- 20:43SPEAKER_00: Or like, yeah, I just signed up for my first half marathon, I've been training all fall.
- 20:47SPEAKER_00: Or yeah, I'm launching my podcast October 1st.
- 20:50SPEAKER_00: Like you suddenly have all your ducks in a row, so you can do it.
- 20:54SPEAKER_00: Okay, that one's easy, right?
- 20:55SPEAKER_00: The next one, plan something.
- 20:59SPEAKER_00: This one is only for the brain.
- 21:02SPEAKER_00: We're tricking the brain with this one.
- 21:04SPEAKER_00: We're gonna give ourselves something to look forward to.
- 21:08SPEAKER_00: Because quote unquote rebranding ourselves right now is not about making every aspect of our life perfect.
- 21:17SPEAKER_00: It's really about changing our mindset.
- 21:20SPEAKER_00: I can't sit here and be like, oh yeah, I am gonna wake up earlier and go to the gym every single morning, and I'm gonna drink more water, and I'm gonna exercise five days a week, meal prep and meditate.
- 21:32SPEAKER_00: I wish.
- 21:33SPEAKER_00: I wish.
- 21:33SPEAKER_00: There's a few things that I'm like, oh my gosh, I need to do those things daily, these little habits, and they will come.
- 21:40SPEAKER_00: But I'm here to tell you we're not doing those things.
- 21:43SPEAKER_00: We're simply just making life more fun.
- 21:45SPEAKER_00: What's the one thing you're looking forward to tonight?
- 21:50SPEAKER_00: What's the one thing you're looking forward to tomorrow?
- 21:52SPEAKER_00: Like, actually think about it.
- 21:53SPEAKER_00: What's the one thing you're looking forward to this weekend?
- 21:57SPEAKER_00: Because sometimes everything is an obligation and everything.
- 22:00SPEAKER_00: Becomes a full-fledged calendar mosh pit that we cannot climb out of.
- 22:07SPEAKER_00: Sometimes Peter and I are talking about our weekends and it's like, what are we doing this weekend?
- 22:10SPEAKER_00: And then it's like, oh yeah, Friday we said we were going to do that.
- 22:12SPEAKER_00: And then Saturday morning we have that.
- 22:13SPEAKER_00: Okay, so our only free time is Saturday afternoon.
- 22:16SPEAKER_00: Let's keep it open.
- 22:17SPEAKER_00: And then it's funny, I found myself looking forward to the Saturday openness, the thing I don't plan around.
- 22:23SPEAKER_00: I'm like, yes, let's do nothing from 2 p.m.
- 22:26SPEAKER_00: to 8 p.m.
- 22:27SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 22:29SPEAKER_00: And then what's funny about that is in that era, you end up not doing nothing.
- 22:33SPEAKER_00: You end up doing something that you find fun in the moment and wishing again you could do nothing.
- 22:39SPEAKER_00: You know what I mean?
- 22:40SPEAKER_00: Anyways, there's so much stuff that becomes an obligation.
- 22:45SPEAKER_00: Errands, family stuff, work, appointments, things that we have to do.
- 22:50SPEAKER_00: And then we wonder why we're looking back and we're like, oh my God, October's already over?
- 22:56SPEAKER_00: September's already over.
- 22:58SPEAKER_00: Well, it's because we filled our freaking calendars full of things we had to do, things we had to cross off the list.
- 23:03SPEAKER_00: And yes, that's good to do.
- 23:04SPEAKER_00: We have to go see the family every July 4th.
- 23:07SPEAKER_00: We have to go to this appointment every six weeks, like whatever it is that you have to do.
- 23:12SPEAKER_00: But to put something on the calendar purely because you look forward to it is what I'm talking about.
- 23:18SPEAKER_00: So Saturday morning, what do you want to do?
- 23:20SPEAKER_00: You want to wake up and have a cup of coffee at your favorite coffee shop?
- 23:23SPEAKER_00: Go do it.
- 23:23SPEAKER_00: Look forward to that moment.
- 23:25SPEAKER_00: Put on a cute outfit, call your mom on the way, whatever it is you want to do.
- 23:29SPEAKER_00: But that thing, I swear, like changes our brain of having something to look forward to.
- 23:36SPEAKER_00: Or pick a Saturday where you want to go somewhere and just drive around, a date night, have people over, book a massage, get a pedicure, go wander around Target for two hours.
- 23:50SPEAKER_00: Whatever sounds fun to you, you know what I mean?
- 23:54SPEAKER_00: This is the whole thing of rewiring our brains to lock into that anticipation.
- 23:59SPEAKER_00: When we're looking forward to something, we see these little sprinkles all throughout our calendar.
- 24:04SPEAKER_00: And we're like, oh yes, I can't wait for that.
- 24:07SPEAKER_00: And everything doesn't feel so heavy and so like, oh, okay, I just have to get through this week.
- 24:15SPEAKER_00: Like, we don't need to change our whole lives.
- 24:17SPEAKER_00: We don't need to change our entire routine.
- 24:19SPEAKER_00: We just need to add one thing that we're looking forward to every now and then.
- 24:22SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna say each week.
- 24:24SPEAKER_00: Like, find something each week you're looking forward to.
- 24:27SPEAKER_00: I play this game in my head all the time.
- 24:30SPEAKER_00: I swear it's what gets me through really long days.
- 24:34SPEAKER_00: Because you know what they say, they say the days are long, but the years are short.
- 24:37SPEAKER_00: Well, I'm only five months into that phrase because you know, people say it when they have kids.
- 24:43SPEAKER_00: And I can attest to it, the days do seem really long, particularly right before back time.
- 24:49SPEAKER_00: And I play that game in my head of like, what am I looking forward to next?
- 24:52SPEAKER_00: And sometimes there's nothing.
- 24:53SPEAKER_00: Like there's nothing on the docket.
- 24:55SPEAKER_00: And I'm just like, what am I doing?
- 24:58SPEAKER_00: Am I enjoying myself?
- 24:59SPEAKER_00: Am I enjoying life right now?
- 25:01SPEAKER_00: And I go down this crazy rabbit hole.
- 25:04SPEAKER_00: So to avoid doing that and to put some like just a little bit of positivity in every thought, you can always say, Oh, at least I'm doing that tomorrow.
- 25:14SPEAKER_00: That's gonna be the best.
- 25:15SPEAKER_00: Or at least on Friday, I have no plans and I'm gonna stay home and watch Grays Anatomy.
- 25:20SPEAKER_00: Can't wait for that.
- 25:24SPEAKER_00: I think the main takeaway from this one is that it gives your brain somewhere positive to go during the weeds of the day.
- 25:31SPEAKER_00: So if you're sitting at work and you're clickety-clackety away and you're a little bored and you're just like, oh, this day is dragging.
- 25:38SPEAKER_00: The goal is to not get into five days straight of that.
- 25:41SPEAKER_00: The goal is to sort of pull yourself out of it.
- 25:44SPEAKER_00: And if you're anticipating something fun for yourself, you're sort of like savoring this little thing, right?
- 25:51SPEAKER_00: You know, you picture the trip, you talk about the dinner, decide what you're gonna wear, look at the restaurant menu.
- 25:57SPEAKER_00: I love to do that.
- 25:57SPEAKER_00: It's so fun.
- 25:59SPEAKER_00: I'd love to go to a restaurant and pretend I've never seen that freaking menu because I always have.
- 26:05SPEAKER_00: When you repeatedly think, like, oh, only two more weeks until I go on that little trip, or like two more weeks until we're gonna try that new restaurant.
- 26:13SPEAKER_00: Like, it's so silly, but it just rewires your brain.
- 26:16SPEAKER_00: And it'll help you keep a little pep in your step for when you feel like things are sluggish.
- 26:24SPEAKER_00: And this is gonna help our rebrand because obviously positivity is what we need.
- 26:29SPEAKER_00: I've been doing this a lot lately because Peter and I have three trips coming up.
- 26:34SPEAKER_00: And your girl has gone nowhere since giving birth.
- 26:37SPEAKER_00: Like everyone's been coming to me, which is great.
- 26:40SPEAKER_00: Thank you so much.
- 26:41SPEAKER_00: I really appreciate it, friends and family who have come been coming to visit.
- 26:44SPEAKER_00: But I got to get out of town.
- 26:45SPEAKER_00: I just have to go.
- 26:46SPEAKER_00: Like, I need to get on a plane and I need to just experience things outside of my usual right now.
- 26:54SPEAKER_00: And I'm looking forward to every single nuance that comes with traveling, even if it's gonna be a little bit unexpected and scary.
- 27:00SPEAKER_00: Like taking a five-month-old on a connecting flight.
- 27:05SPEAKER_00: Will it be miserable?
- 27:06SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 27:07SPEAKER_00: I'm weirdly still looking forward to it.
- 27:08SPEAKER_00: I there's gonna be so many parts that are delightful and like, wow, we're always gonna remember her first flight, you know?
- 27:15SPEAKER_00: So it's allowing me to rewire my brain to think about it in this like positive emotional experience, regardless of the circumstances.
- 27:24SPEAKER_00: Okay, and the last thing we're gonna do, this one's the fun one.
- 27:28SPEAKER_00: We're gonna drop something.
- 27:30SPEAKER_00: It's so funny.
- 27:31SPEAKER_00: I'm thinking to myself, I'm like, what am I dropping?
- 27:33SPEAKER_00: I need to drop something.
- 27:34SPEAKER_00: This is the part of the reset we forget about so often because we're constantly looking to for things to add, things that we need to do to enhance or improve our life.
- 27:42SPEAKER_00: You know, going to the gym, cleaning up the resume, like adding, adding, adding, buying that new outfit.
- 27:48SPEAKER_00: We're constantly looking for things to do more of or to get more of.
- 27:52SPEAKER_00: And in reality, the rebrand requires some shedding.
- 27:57SPEAKER_00: We got to get rid of something.
- 27:58SPEAKER_00: You've lived eight full months of the year already.
- 28:01SPEAKER_00: This is what I'm telling myself, okay?
- 28:03SPEAKER_00: This is enough data.
- 28:04SPEAKER_00: What is not working for us this year?
- 28:07SPEAKER_00: I'll tell you what's not working for me is my negative attitude.
- 28:11SPEAKER_00: I have a little bit of a negative attitude sometimes.
- 28:14SPEAKER_00: I think if I'm being really honest with myself, I've been struggling postpartum.
- 28:19SPEAKER_00: I've had to like dive deep into this because I don't feel like I'm a negative person.
- 28:24SPEAKER_00: And I talked about this on the podcast a little bit.
- 28:27SPEAKER_00: I don't know why I sometimes go to this place of I can't do that.
- 28:32SPEAKER_00: Well, I have the baby, so I can't do that.
- 28:34SPEAKER_00: Like, and I'll say to people, you don't get it, I can't do that.
- 28:37SPEAKER_00: Like, I cannot go.
- 28:39SPEAKER_00: Whereas really, I should just be taking a beat and think, can I do that?
- 28:45SPEAKER_00: And am I just saying that I can't?
- 28:48SPEAKER_00: It's like such a mental block.
- 28:49SPEAKER_00: And sometimes I really can't, you know, sometimes someone wants to get together at uh like six o'clock, and I'm like, I'm sorry, that is like prime time real estate for my five-month-old right now.
- 28:59SPEAKER_00: Like it's hard for me to leave the house at that time.
- 29:02SPEAKER_00: But there's other things where I know I can do it, it's just gonna be a little bit uncomfortable, and it might be a little annoying for a short while, but it will still be enjoyable.
- 29:12SPEAKER_00: And I just need to look at that part and not the little annoyances that will happen in that thing.
- 29:19SPEAKER_00: Wow, that was a tangent.
- 29:20SPEAKER_00: Did that make any sense?
- 29:21SPEAKER_00: My point is like at this point in the year, we probably know what's making us a little negative.
- 29:29SPEAKER_00: Like, what is making you miserable?
- 29:32SPEAKER_00: Let's shed the thing, you know?
- 29:34SPEAKER_00: What's draining our energy?
- 29:37SPEAKER_00: Is there something that you're doing that is like keeping you a little stuck or like wasting your time?
- 29:41SPEAKER_00: Hello, scrolling on TikTok.
- 29:43SPEAKER_00: I do it so much.
- 29:44SPEAKER_00: It's hard now when I'm nursing because I'm sitting constantly for a long period of time and I don't want to put a TV on or something.
- 29:52SPEAKER_00: So I'll just like be on my phone.
- 29:53SPEAKER_00: And sometimes I'm scrolling and I'm like, how long have I been doing this?
- 29:56SPEAKER_00: I have no idea.
- 29:57SPEAKER_00: But sometimes we continue to do the thing because it's become like sort of habitual at this point.
- 30:02SPEAKER_00: Like we're like, no, no, no, we just I just do this.
- 30:04SPEAKER_00: It's fine.
- 30:07SPEAKER_00: I love the idea of using September as like a little checkpoint.
- 30:12SPEAKER_00: Like, what do we do from January to August that we don't need to do anymore?
- 30:16SPEAKER_00: Maybe you're done with the situation chip that you've been going back and forth with since the holidays.
- 30:23SPEAKER_00: Or maybe you're done saying yes every time somebody asks you to do something.
- 30:26SPEAKER_00: That used to be a huge one for me.
- 30:28SPEAKER_00: Or maybe you're like done spending money for a little bit.
- 30:30SPEAKER_00: Like you're like, I don't want to shop so much anymore.
- 30:32SPEAKER_00: I don't want to buy all of this stuff that keeps coming out, or these things on Amazon that people say I need to buy.
- 30:38SPEAKER_00: Or maybe it's really specific.
- 30:39SPEAKER_00: Like you're putting yourself in a situation routinely or in an environment that's not good for you.
- 30:47SPEAKER_00: Or it doesn't make you feel good, and you need to stop doing that.
- 30:51SPEAKER_00: So again, this isn't like a reinventing the wheel.
- 30:54SPEAKER_00: Just pick one thing where you're like, all right, I've had enough chances.
- 30:59SPEAKER_00: We've done our research this year, it's not working.
- 31:02SPEAKER_00: It got you from January through August and you still feel like it's not working.
- 31:08SPEAKER_00: The data has proven enough.
- 31:10SPEAKER_00: Now is a good time to just cut it loose.
- 31:12SPEAKER_00: Like, we do not need to go all the way to the end of the year doing this thing where you feel like it's just sort of draining you.
- 31:20SPEAKER_00: But yeah, this whole idea of like waiting to reinvent the wheel, it just got me thinking about all these things that we sort of drag with us throughout the year.
- 31:31SPEAKER_00: For what reason?
- 31:32SPEAKER_00: Because we feel like we're already in the thick of it.
- 31:35SPEAKER_00: There's something just so unexpected about going into the fall with an entirely different attitude or a different perspective on how the rest of your year is gonna go.
- 31:48SPEAKER_00: So I'm gonna say it again.
- 31:50SPEAKER_00: We're gonna do the thing.
- 31:52SPEAKER_00: We're gonna plan something we're excited about, and we're gonna drop something that's no longer serving us.
- 31:57SPEAKER_00: Do something, plan something, drop something.
- 32:00SPEAKER_00: And we got four months.
- 32:01SPEAKER_00: Oh my God, four months to do all of those things.
- 32:04SPEAKER_00: I'm sitting here so deep in my own thoughts.
- 32:05SPEAKER_00: I'm like, oh my God, what else can I drop?
- 32:08SPEAKER_00: I need to drop my negative attitude.
- 32:09SPEAKER_00: Like I said, I really need to drop speaking poorly about myself.
- 32:14SPEAKER_00: It's so hard.
- 32:15SPEAKER_00: When you have a case of the postpartum uglies and you see yourself every day looking so exhausted, your baby is taking all of your nutrients.
- 32:25SPEAKER_00: Like, I have no elasticity in my face anymore, I swear to God.
- 32:29SPEAKER_00: This is what I'm talking about.
- 32:30SPEAKER_00: This is what I'm talking about.
- 32:31SPEAKER_00: Like, I need to drop that.
- 32:33SPEAKER_00: I need to just remember that it is a gift and honor to be nursing.
- 32:38SPEAKER_00: And if she's taking all my vitamins, like please, please take them.
- 32:42SPEAKER_00: It's fine.
- 32:43SPEAKER_00: I'll put some makeup on.
- 32:47SPEAKER_00: Yeah, see, I have work to do.
- 32:49SPEAKER_00: Like, I need to take my own advice.
- 32:52SPEAKER_00: Hello.
- 32:53SPEAKER_00: Well, Peter just walked in while I was finishing recording.
- 32:56SPEAKER_00: So Peter, what's one thing you think I can drop this for the rest of the year?
- 33:02SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 33:04SPEAKER_00: He said, hopefully not the baby.
- 33:06SPEAKER_00: That's not funny.
- 33:10SPEAKER_00: It's something I can stop doing.
- 33:12SPEAKER_01: The unnecessary fear that holds you back.
- 33:19SPEAKER_00: I don't know if you could hear that, but but he said the unnecessary fear that's holding me back from doing mundane things.
- 33:27SPEAKER_00: The most mundane of things.
- 33:29SPEAKER_01: So I didn't know it's not even because you worry about time, you're worried about commitment, worried about what could go wrong, all these little things, as opposed to just doing it and letting the car fly.
- 33:45SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 33:46SPEAKER_00: So Peter pretty much just summed up what I said.
- 33:51SPEAKER_00: Because I said I needed to draw my negative energy, like my negative attitude.
- 33:57SPEAKER_01: Fear-based.
- 33:57SPEAKER_00: Oh, he's saying it's not negative, it's fear.
- 33:59SPEAKER_00: It is fear-based.
- 34:01SPEAKER_00: It's easy to act yourself on anger because it's interesting.
- 34:05SPEAKER_00: Well, so on next week's episode, Peter will sit down and do a deep dive on how I'm gonna let go of all of this fear and negativity.
- 34:17SPEAKER_00: Um, okay, but anyways, this is a lovely chat.
- 34:19SPEAKER_00: If you've made it all the way here, thank you so much for listening.
- 34:22SPEAKER_00: I want to hear more about what you guys are planning to do for the rest of the year, how you're really gonna implement these three things.
- 34:30SPEAKER_00: DM me, message me always.
- 34:32SPEAKER_00: I love to hear from you guys and what you're doing.
- 34:34SPEAKER_00: And I hope everyone has a really great week.
- 34:36SPEAKER_00: I cannot wait to update you on how Andy's first flight goes.
- 34:39SPEAKER_00: Hopefully, we have fun things to say, but I'm looking forward to it.
- 34:42SPEAKER_00: See what I did there.
- 34:43SPEAKER_00: Okay, bye.
