- 0:03Network. Dane dang Thing thing Thing, dang tank thing thing Thing, dang
- 0:39Thing, Dane dang thing Thing, Dan Than ding Ding dang Thing. Thane.
- 0:44I'm sick of it too. I didn't take long. Uh yeah,
- 0:53yeah, this episode is appropriately entitled Thane exhaustion. Uh. It has been
- 0:59the launch week of my book, which is exciting and stressful and equal measures.
- 1:04Uh, and I have not had much time to myself between bouncing around
- 1:08and appearing on various podcasts and promoting the book and going to the release party.
- 1:14Throwing the release party in the first place. Uh, It's it's been
- 1:18a wild ride. But I came here to relax, and so I just
- 1:23needed to get it out of my system. So there you go. I
- 1:26will strive not to mention it again for the entirety of the podcast. Again,
- 1:30thank you. Uh so, Uh yeah, we are here, We're
- 1:38gonna play some games. We're without Stevie. Stevie up and it's wow,
- 1:42fucked off. I don't know what he's doing. I kind of don't care.
- 1:46I kind of don't care. You know what he's he's been getting up
- 1:49aty lately and honestly, he won. Yeah, he wins one game and
- 1:55it just goes straight to his head and bad. Yeah, and it escapes
- 2:00no insulation up there. Again, he's a short guy that kind of complex,
- 2:06just so he just figures he can go off and do whatever and just
- 2:10leave us. So we're just going to have a real good time without him.
- 2:15I have three players here, thankfully, it wasn't just me and Augie.
- 2:21Uh Casey agreed to come back and hang out with us and play games.
- 2:27Hi guys, Hi, so happy to see you again. Of course,
- 2:30it's always fun when you guys show up and play games with us,
- 2:32So thank you, especially considering it with short notice. I literally asked them
- 2:38yesterday. It's a good thing, limited socialized, I say again, this
- 2:45past week has been insane. But anyway, yes, so happy you're here.
- 2:51But we're not going to play with teams because three players that doesn't seem
- 2:53fair. So everybody's gonna be playing for themselves. It's a free for all.
- 2:58Bring your elbows and yes that's right, drop them off the top rope
- 3:04or or just throw them at people. I don't know how bolls work.
- 3:07Okay, so you're going to Uh. I just hope no more ticians are
- 3:14listening. Actually, you actually could throw an elbow at someone, so oh
- 3:23yeah, there you go, you go. But it is three days before
- 3:28Halloween, so anything, yeah come out after Hello in the Machine. Yeah
- 3:32yeah, yeah yeah that November second, I think it comes out. So
- 3:38hey November people, I hope you're enjoying the ex Halloween. Yeah right now,
- 3:46has your blood sugar feel? Now we can focus on Thanksgiving? Yes,
- 3:51yes, holiday at the time you would think so. But there are
- 3:53still going to be Christmas ads. Sorry. I saw one the other day
- 3:58and I thought of, oh my god, like you, that's what I
- 4:01was talking about. Why retail? You see that ship back at eh?
- 4:08Oh my god. I have worked in retail, and yes, that is.
- 4:12They used to do a big Christmas in July thing where you worked,
- 4:14right, all right, well we just kind of zoomed past the introduction,
- 4:21so let's just do this real quick. He's a gamer and a storyteller and
- 4:26he used to be my youngest friend. It's Augye. Yeah, I didn't
- 4:31leave like Stevie. Your question, what are you sick of? God?
- 4:38I'm sick of questions, Aric. Well, you're not gonna like the rest
- 4:42of this game, anything in particular you just recently sick of. Yeah,
- 4:49I mean the list is a mile long, so it's I'll choose one.
- 4:54Okay. I'm just kinda like, I don't know, just sick of the
- 5:00shitty ass weather. Like I know it's it's that time, like I have
- 5:06to go through the same Here comes the waves of migraines. Yeah, yeah,
- 5:14I get you. I mean I know already, so I could die,
- 5:19so I can, just so I can just bury myself in snow and
- 5:23type peaceful myself. All the plants need to die, that's what, Yeah,
- 5:29killing me along with them. I absolutely love October weather because there's nothing
- 5:32I love more wind, especially when it's at least warm enough that I can
- 5:39go out without a jacket anyway, So, very good answer, much appreciate
- 5:45it. Let's move on to you, my friend, Kyla. Kyler,
- 5:50I'm good. So what are you sick of negativity? I know your last
- 5:59job. You are definitely of that negativity. Not sick of it anymore,
- 6:04Not sick of it anymore because I am really enjoying my fun employment getting bed
- 6:11sores from laying around for a few days. But we'll be back on the
- 6:15stick. You know, apply, apply, apply as a Monday. But
- 6:18sure, yeah, the lizard decided to cut a lot of people, and
- 6:23I decided to get out before it was me. So that's negativity and complaining
- 6:29mostly sure, sure, yeah, no, I get it. I try
- 6:33not to complain. But this this episode was designed about around remaining, so
- 6:38I won't be No, I won't be that stick. I can only apologize.
- 6:43Yeah, but I have dialed it back. We will have more fun.
- 6:46It will not be all negative complaints. It's just going to be it's
- 6:49just gonna be silliness and ridiculousness. That's the plan, the best and speaking
- 6:53of not necessarily known for silliness and ridiculousness, but very good at it.
- 7:00It's Casey, Casey. Yes, how are you? I'm doing all right,
- 7:08Yeah, hanging in there. What are you sick of? Well?
- 7:11First I was going to say the crappy weather, but all you took that,
- 7:14and then I was like, oh, I'm going to say negativity because
- 7:16I've had a lot of negative Well you both took mind taking skin issues.
- 7:25Sick of us? Yeah, that's a good She's she's sick of people taking
- 7:28her the show. No, im, I'm I'm I'm I don't know.
- 7:33I'm sick of having things everything go wrong. Well, hey, speaking of
- 7:39the skin issues and things going wrong, your allergy test went really well.
- 7:42Casey is so grave. She had all kinds of different like things injected into
- 7:46her arm. Yeah. Last year I had allergy testing, like patch testing
- 7:50on my back, and then last week I had the you know, the
- 7:56environmental testing done where they like poke your arms and yeah in different places you
- 8:01don't have to be And now she's going to turn into a mutant. And
- 8:07it wasn't that bad. But it turns out all I'm allergic to is dust
- 8:15mites and feathers, which everyone is allergic to dust mites, so that doesn't
- 8:18even really matter. Yeah, it just means I need to clean more.
- 8:22It's fair. I'm allergic to hops, so I can never drink beer.
- 8:24Oh that's sad. Can you drink Why does everybody say that I drink cider?
- 8:30Yeah, it's something about the fermentation of the hops itself. It closes
- 8:33up my throat. Something my father had too. Yeah, I'm allergic to
- 8:37animal dander, so it's a lot of a lot of cats and some dogs.
- 8:41But yeah, I'm not really I'm not related Oh my god, I'm
- 8:46not allergic to cats or dogs. I'm not related to cats and dogs either.
- 8:52It's a very strange family, but we already know that guilty. Okay,
- 9:01shall we play some games to have some fun? Absolutely, As I
- 9:05said, there's three players. We're gonna do free for all styles. So
- 9:07it's gonna work a little bit differently because Kyle and Casey are our guests.
- 9:13We're gonna play. Have I got good news for you? I've got three
- 9:16news stories. All you have to do is tell me which one of these
- 9:18three stories I have pre selected as the best news of the week. Whichever
- 9:24one of you gets it right wins the game. It turns one episode point.
- 9:28Because you two are our guests, You're you're gonna get to choose first,
- 9:31and then Augie stuck with whatever you don't take. But it's entirely possible
- 9:37they could pick the other two stories. Well, we'll find win it for
- 9:39me. Okay, So let's start with story number one. We're going to
- 9:43go over each story one by one, and then we'll have everybody make their
- 9:46choices. Story number one Archaeologists dig up eleven thousand year old statue, realize
- 9:52too late, it's grabbing its penis. This is absolutely true. It was
- 9:58in Turkey. I say that as the news stories there are ever not true.
- 10:03Yeah, this is one hundred percent true, the absolute truth, and
- 10:07nothing about the truth. So help me God. So this happened in Turkey.
- 10:13They were digging up the statue and they did not know, you know,
- 10:16they they only they found the top part of it before the bottom party.
- 10:20They knew it was eleven thousand years old, and they had they knew
- 10:24it was going to be like seven point five feet tall, but they didn't.
- 10:28And they knew it dated from the Kahan Tepee complex, which is yeah,
- 10:33oh that, you know, everyone knows that. To get my hair
- 10:35cut. But they completely unearthed it and found that the statue of the gentleman
- 10:41had his hands wrapped firmly around his member. They're not sure what the significance
- 10:48of the massive masturbator is. He was making sure it was still there.
- 10:54Yeah, when you get turned to stone, you never really don't know.
- 10:56Civilization's gonna get canceled. Now, was making sure he kept it. They
- 11:03do know there's a lot of like statues to fertility gods, right, yeah,
- 11:09absolutely, yeah, So it no idea what it means It's just just
- 11:18another symbol of humanity's endless interest in its own genitals. Really, really,
- 11:26there's not much else you can say about it. It's just just an off
- 11:31putting see an any or an audi? Or did he? Did it have
- 11:33a turtleneck on? Or was he lidless? You know what? I did
- 11:37not look at the picture close enough to tell it. Did it did seem
- 11:41kind of tertal like? Yeah, then no idea? Why the the statue
- 11:50of the man is clutching its crotch but the an anthropology an anthropology professor Ted
- 11:58Banning at the Unity of Toronto said the fact that the figure is clutching its
- 12:03penis is consistent with this interpretation by potentially symbolizing that this person was the progenitor
- 12:09of a social group. I'm sorry, Do you do you want to see
- 12:15your dad grabbing islan? No? Like? Why where you is that your
- 12:20dad? He's the patriarch. Do you want to see your better clutching his
- 12:28No, it's worse now You've just made it worse. Sorry, all right,
- 12:33Well, I don't know if there's anything else covering that. I think
- 12:35we've fairly well gone over it. I want to think about my grandfather's penis.
- 12:39Yeah, I'm trying desperately to think of anything else. Let's move on,
- 12:43especially your grandfather's penis. Wow, oh my god. Okay, so
- 12:48story number two, sorry, story number two. The Vatican City is celebrating
- 12:56the twenty year anniversary of selling a calendar of Holy Hunks. Hot, Yes,
- 13:05Holy Hunks. So this is an actual calendar that is sold in the
- 13:13Vatican City. It's not sold by the Catholic Church. Just to be absolutely
- 13:18clear, like, are they firemen or are they like like craftsmen, Like
- 13:24they just just they're priests, just cardivals. They're priests. That makes it
- 13:30so much weirder. They are, Yeah, they're they are absolutely priests.
- 13:33It's called the Calendario Romano, although that's not the name most people know it
- 13:39by. They know it as the Handsome Priest's Calendar. And it's exactly what
- 13:43it sounds like. On every page of the calendar, you'll find a young
- 13:46Roman Catholic priest with a chisel jawnline, smiling happily at the viewer. And
- 13:52that's it. Like they're they're not like, you know, taking it off,
- 13:54They're not like you know, making muscleless. It's just handsome dudes,
- 14:00just unrecoited love, just people staring at your smiling. But yeah, and
- 14:07the priests are not named. They're all anonymous to protect their identities in the
- 14:11calendar. But this has been going on for twenty years. They've been doing
- 14:16this, and uh, how do you all feel about this? What was
- 14:24it called? Again? The Calendario Romano? I think it should be called
- 14:28Holy Honks because that's a way catch your name. Yeah, exactly. You
- 14:33put that on Amazon, Holy Hunks like this, it's gonna explode so much
- 14:35more catchy. It's gonna explode, for sure. We're both Catholic. Yeah,
- 14:39I might be interested if our family is from like our our great grandfathers
- 14:45from just outside Rome, so I mean like they left because it was like
- 14:48the mountains. Nothing grew there and there was no food. So like anything
- 14:52you can do to make a buck, we're all about it. You know,
- 14:54you look good, why not show it? Yeah, I'm just saying
- 14:58you'd sell more calendar is if you sold it with big honky men wearing nothing
- 15:03but priest collars and a smile, or just the stole, well, just
- 15:07the stole, cover the nippies. Maybe it's strategically covered sole in like dress
- 15:16pants, Yeah yeah, or or holding the incense in front of Oh my
- 15:20god, that's danger that sounds yeah, that sounds too dangerous. But good
- 15:31Easter, candle God. This calendar has sold around seventy five thousand copies.
- 15:39Every fantastic. I mean, it's it's Italy. Italy loves a feast for
- 15:43the eyes. That's true. Yeah, you know what, that's probably one
- 15:46hundred percent. Who is it? The immortal words of the Harvey Corman.
- 15:52Give him somebody to root for, give him something to look at, all
- 15:58right, But yeah, I don't know what i'd be looking at for sure.
- 16:03Okay, let's move on to story number three. New York City dedicate
- 16:07statue to mythical sewer alligator. So this is fun. You can obviously find
- 16:15a lot of things living in New York City sewers, but what you probably
- 16:19won't find is an alligator. But rumors of this have existed for over a
- 16:27century. People have said that alligator eggs were brought to New York City and
- 16:33people obviously couldn't raise them in their apartments, so they wound up putting them
- 16:37in the sewer or what have you. It's bizarre, but this rumor has
- 16:42been celebrated enough that somebody put a statue up and it's real. The New
- 16:48York City Department of Parks and Recreation and the Union Square Partnership unveiled on October
- 16:52seventeenth, NYC legend a statue commemorating the supposed sewer gator on one fight.
- 17:00On one side, it just features a sewer, a common New York City
- 17:03sewer. Great and the other side features a large alligator curled up in a
- 17:07circle. And yeah, that's a thing considering the invasive species problem in Florida
- 17:17with people getting like pythons as pets and then letting them go and now they've
- 17:21become so plentiful. Like that's that's my biggest argument for like, this has
- 17:26to be real. And like the rats in New York obviously are very famous.
- 17:30They're so strong they can climb up your toilet, Like I honestly believe
- 17:37someone somewhere, somehow has gotten some sort of reptile in their toilet from the
- 17:41sewer system at some point, at some point to have happened. There is
- 17:48no documented evidence of an alligator ever actually being found in New York City sewer
- 17:52system, but it's not impossible. Yeah, yeah, and they also have
- 17:59no documentation that the gargoyles came to life and Ghostbusters put it gozer Gozarian.
- 18:07Yeah yeah, yeah, all real. Do you so quickly forget when Loki
- 18:11attacked? The statue stands more than seven feet tall and it weighs more than
- 18:18three thousand pounds. What a great use of tax payer money. I'm a
- 18:22socialist. It's all made out of bronze, and the artist and the the
- 18:30the the organizations that put it up have added that the alligator symbolizes the resilience
- 18:34and adaptability of New York City, with its sturdy scales and ability to regrow
- 18:40body parts. I know you. The animal King has nothing to say about
- 18:48it. I want to say, ship, he's going to get mad and
- 18:53just get mad for no reason. He's like Kyla did not want negativity.
- 18:56I'm gonna show saying like they might be thinking about salamanders, but whatever,
- 19:03alligators are a little too kyles Ken. Yeah, well I liked it the
- 19:11way they're thinking. When we were kids, New York City was a little
- 19:15bit grimy still, and then it got really sanitized and it's getting grimy again,
- 19:19and like, yes, it's bad. People get attacked or you know,
- 19:22there's deaths and whatever, but like it's kind of cool. It's like
- 19:25the heart of New York is coming back. The griminess. Yeah, what
- 19:30was disgusting? Disgusting griminess that is New York. Love it all right?
- 19:37Well that's all three news stories, so yeah, it's just a matter of
- 19:41which one you think I thought was the best news story of the week.
- 19:45Uh, Kyl and Casey. I said you two would be going before Augie,
- 19:49but I did not pick one of you. You go first, Okay,
- 19:52that's official. Casey, what do you think is the best news story?
- 19:56What do you think I picked to be the best news story of the
- 19:59week. It's a good thing. I'm paired. I thought story one because
- 20:03it's funny, ridiculous, the statue statue grabbing. It's Aaron loves wiener humor,
- 20:11and I said, my note specifically said, and I love potty humor.
- 20:15So and I know and I know Aaron loves a dirty, potty humor
- 20:21as well. You are eighty six years old. I am I know that
- 20:26dirty. I know that. Okay, I I love and appreciate that.
- 20:32Thank you, Kyla. Which one of the other two do you pick as
- 20:37the best? I'll go with the Vatican hanks because I think it's funny,
- 20:41and because I think Augie should go with the alligator because he's an animal guy.
- 20:45Okay, all right, you happy with that? Regudgingly going with it,
- 20:48Yes, not because of an animal guy, because yes he is in
- 20:52the potty humor. But what better potty humor than a sewer? That's right.
- 20:59I didn't think of that, all right. So I have to reveal
- 21:03now that the story that I genuinely thought was the best out of these three
- 21:10was the statue of the sewer alligator. Oggie completely won that round. Yeah,
- 21:15absolutely, listen. I could not I could not bring myself to pick
- 21:22a story about a statue holding his penis. So I was like, no,
- 21:27no, no, I'm not glorifying this, No way do this every
- 21:33day. The Vatican City calendar was just right out like this is this,
- 21:41This is someone kind of like capitalizing on you know it, I don't know
- 21:45someone else's or whatever, but you know, to each their own, I
- 21:49guess it just it just didn't mean a lot to me, whereas it made
- 21:53me laugh that New York City would create a statue of something that doesn't exist
- 22:00to celebrate their own specialness. It represents something that may Yeah. Yeah,
- 22:06so they're like, yeah, you know, the alligator is special because we
- 22:08New Yorkers are special. Except the alligator doesn't exist. So what does that
- 22:15say. It kind of goes with the theme of like New York City being
- 22:18grimy. Yeah it does. But it also, like I was thinking,
- 22:22I mean, and this is a big like debate, but like, there's
- 22:23a lot of Mothman statues out there. I mean, a lot of people
- 22:27say that the Mothman is there's a lot of them. I went to one
- 22:32of the cities where it was originally like said to be or no, no,
- 22:34no, no. It was one of the cities where they filmed The
- 22:37moth Man, Kittanning, Pennsylvania, because they have all these cool bridges,
- 22:41and I believe there's one there now people like that Mothman. All right.
- 22:45So yeah, so you know, statues of things that don't exist are not
- 22:48unheard of. Clearly, any art project is probably something that doesn't exist.
- 22:53An odd yeah, but anyway, yeah, very very odd choice. But
- 22:59it made me laugh. So of the two that weren't, the statue of
- 23:02grabbing It's penis, that's the one I went with Ogi to his own surprise
- 23:07wins the point and is one I don't know, but Kyla and Casey you
- 23:15can easily catch up and overtake because the second game is worth two points and
- 23:18we're going to play that right after this. Hey man, welcome back.
- 24:17It's time for game two. Game two is gonna be pop Culture Fight Club.
- 24:22Thanks again to Colin Maggs for inventing this game. Our contestants need to
- 24:26prepare their best argument for a question about pop culture, and for this episode,
- 24:30the question is what is the most hilarious death in a film, TV
- 24:36show or video game. The player who defends their choice the best will win
- 24:40the game and earn their well earn themselves two episode points. Augie won the
- 24:45last game, so it's gonna be one of you two who goes first,
- 24:47And why don't you fight over it? Well? I went wow. So
- 24:55the one that always comes to my head, and I believe this was in
- 24:57the Life of Brian and popossibly some of their other Monty Python stuff. It's
- 25:03when the big giant guy said that I couldn't take another bite, and then
- 25:07he takes another bite and explodes to me, that is the pinnacle of comedy,
- 25:15because that's fantastic everybody has been in that position. Everybody can really Oh,
- 25:18I couldn't take another bite. I just explode. And then he actually
- 25:22explodes, and it's like the waiter got what he asked for. Yeah,
- 25:26I have another bite. Yeah, ass he's gonna die. And then people
- 25:32have pieces of him and people's pieces of his dinner all over him. That's
- 25:37really funny to me. And it's simple. It's smart, it's dumb.
- 25:44It's smart and it's dumb. Yeah. I love the duality, the juxtapicition.
- 25:49Anyways, that's mine, sweet, simple to the point. Very good,
- 25:55Augie Casey, any questions you have about Kyla's preferred death? You hit
- 26:00you. You went straight from Monty Python, and that's what's most messed up
- 26:03here. That's my sawt spot And comes to humor. Man, what do
- 26:10you think am I supposed to argue that it's not funny. It's tragedy,
- 26:17dude, The tragedy man had a family. Yeah, you had a life.
- 26:22I've never seen mommy Python, so wow, yes you have you Sorry
- 26:30you hadn't seen either. So we just have a list of things we need
- 26:33to expose you to. It's not for everyone, but I do always recommend
- 26:37it. Yeah, it's like a good foundation, like growing up with loving
- 26:42comedy on so many different levels. Like it was like a required reading for
- 26:47me, you know, like I had to at least watch like all their
- 26:49movies. I didn't watch all like The Faulty Faulty Towers or anything like that,
- 26:55but I mean here and there, like the famous ones. But it's
- 26:57required reading, like it's required viewing for to have like a full grasp of
- 27:03like pop cultured comedy stuff. Okay, well, neither of these two had
- 27:07a really big argument for you, So I'm gonna come at you. I
- 27:11genuinely think I genuinely think was it not, Sir Robin. I don't think
- 27:15it was, Sir Robin. It was one of the other knights who came
- 27:22upon the bridge and no greed and asked him, no, not that one.
- 27:29It was. It was It was the first time he got asked about
- 27:30the airspeed of the unladen swallowed. He said, what, I don't know
- 27:34that that killed me as a kid. That was so funny because I did
- 27:41not see it coming. I mean, getting murdered by a cute little rabbit
- 27:45is definitely of your things. What's he gonna do? That thing's dynamite?
- 27:52And then it slaughters everybody. No, that's pretty great. Better death.
- 27:57But I like I like the exploding dude because it's just like everybody's been there.
- 28:03Everybody has been there, and what if it actually blew you up like
- 28:07that? It's a great warning. It's it's a you know word, do
- 28:11the wise, don't blow yourself up with eating too much food, which is
- 28:15something that they risk every day. And and when someone says they can't take
- 28:19another bite, do not force them to no care pressure. Yeah, that's
- 28:22awful, stop it. It's dangerous. It's a moral lessons blowed. All
- 28:27right. I think Kyle has defended herself well enough. Let's move on to
- 28:33uh, Casey, would you like to go first? Or would you like
- 28:36to make Augio first? I'll go first. Okay, well I'm changing my
- 28:40answer. Oh I had something else written down, but I'm gonna go with
- 28:48what do you call it? Bill Mrie from Zombie Land. That's a really
- 28:53good because they they go into the house and they don't they know what it's
- 29:00Bill Murray's house, and Bill Murray pretends he's a zombie and he gets accidentally
- 29:08shot, and then they put him to rest by doing a twenty one gun
- 29:12day or twenty one Oh my god, I'm having a day. Sorry,
- 29:17a twenty one gun salute. But then Jesse Eisenberg's character has to reload his
- 29:22gun and he's like, hold on, wait a second. So they're trying
- 29:25to pay Bill Murray homage and do him justice by doing this twenty one gun
- 29:30salute, and he's like, there's comedy in it because he's fumbling to try
- 29:34and reload. The guy. I also like when they throw him off the
- 29:37rest, when they throw them all, does anybody need purel? Yeah,
- 29:42so I'm changing my answer. I don't know if you want to know my
- 29:45original. That's why I am. I am curious, but we'll wait and
- 29:49see because people might have questions about that. I might want to attack it.
- 29:55Aggie, Kyla, do you have anything to come at man? That
- 29:59choice trying to think. I mean, he kind of wanted to die in
- 30:03the end, didn't he. He kind of accepted it. I think he
- 30:06was really enjoying being a fake zombie and watching everybody he goes. Yeah,
- 30:10I saw a pearl jam at the bull. Yeah, he was like jokes
- 30:15about the apocalypse. It was quite tragic, but it was also quite poetic,
- 30:19and that like, yeah, he seemed like he kind of wanted to,
- 30:22but like he went in a comedic way. Yeah, and he was.
- 30:26He was doing the apocalypse like the best way possible for himself. So
- 30:32him dying was very funny, yes, because it especially perfect in the way
- 30:37he did because he some members of the group knew that Bill Murray was alive
- 30:44and pretending to be a zombie, and they're like, oh, let's prank
- 30:45the one guy who doesn't know right, walking like a zombiere and the guy
- 30:52goes shoots him immediately, and that's when it goes south naturally. Naturally,
- 30:57so of course it's a prank gone wrong that gets them killed. Yeah,
- 31:03I no notes, I got nothing. That is a very That is a
- 31:10very funny death. And I think you did quite well in explaining yourself.
- 31:12So good you Ogie. You were last to go. What what do you
- 31:18think is the most hilarious death in a TV show, movie, or video
- 31:22game? You know, it's really fucked up. I mean, or if
- 31:25you could make it work a book, but I figured that might be difficult.
- 31:27That's yeah, that's really hard read the book. No, iron,
- 31:38I need a couple more seconds. Okay, did you hear that? I
- 31:45did that was me accidentally hitting a button too soon. But you know there
- 31:48is someone who does have an opinion on this subject. Okay, I will
- 31:53play it for you now. It's Stevie. You thought you can get away
- 31:56without having me here this week? God, well, I don't want to
- 32:00throw in my hat for the pop culture fight Club. And I think the
- 32:04most hilarious death is Bionic Commando. When that missile goes hits that dude in
- 32:07the helicopter, which I think is Hitler, his face fucking explodes and then
- 32:13everything else goes. I think that's one of the best because every time that
- 32:15happened when we watched it, whether whoever it was two players, single player,
- 32:20we all laughed. It was fucking hilarious. All right, much love
- 32:22y'all lads. All right, that was a terrible answer. So now,
- 32:27OI, what do you have? You don't like buy an a Commander?
- 32:30Do you? No? I love buying a Commando. I just didn't think
- 32:32it was funny. It's it's kind of gross us if you liked grossmer sure,
- 32:38but so I think, And if I remembering this correctly, my I
- 32:44think the funniest death scene was the death scene of the Great Mighty pooh a
- 32:53because he got god. Oh yeah Kyla in casey And for anyone who doesn't
- 33:00have any idea what he's talking about, there's a game called Conquer's Bad for
- 33:04a Day. It is a It is a very silly video game, and
- 33:07it's all about just whatever comedic things that squirrel runs into. He makes friends
- 33:13with death, like you know, and he runs into this giant poo who
- 33:17threatens him while singing a song like his His whole stick is he never speaks.
- 33:24He just sings, you know, I am the great Mighty Pooh and
- 33:30I'm going to throw some shit at you. It's very childish and very very
- 33:37silly. And you have to beat him by throwing rolls of toilet paper into
- 33:42his mouth. Okay, that's kind of cool. And then he gets flushed
- 33:45on a toilet and then yeah, he gets flushed down toilets, still singing
- 33:47the whole way down shot. Of course you conquer. It's just it's just
- 34:00ridiculous and doesn't make any sense and it's just absurd. So there there,
- 34:05there's there's the layout for you. What do you think of that? I
- 34:08think that's funny. Okay, do you run into him every time you play
- 34:13the game. Yes, you can't avoid him. It's it's linear. Yeah,
- 34:17you have to a boss you have that you have to go through him
- 34:22at some point, and do you often get killed by him if you do
- 34:25not vanquish him. Yeah, is the first time I got killed the first
- 34:30first time. It's difficult. It's been a long time. Yeah, a
- 34:34long time. I mean as a kid. Yeah, I'm sure I've done
- 34:36a million times. But like when you die, you don't really get a
- 34:42funny cut scene. I don't think I don't remember. I think you do
- 34:46the first time you die. Yep, that's when conquer meets death for the
- 34:49first time. Oh right right, yeah, and he explains a very interesting
- 34:53I have to bring you back to life because you've got a squirrel tail.
- 34:58You know. He's like the world weary and he's like, damn it.
- 35:05And yeah, he's got a very silly voice for some reason, like he
- 35:08tries to come on, I am deaf, unusual, and then his voice
- 35:12modulator breaks and he's like, oh, damn it, Yeah, I'm death.
- 35:16What do you want? Uh? Yeah. So there's there's a lot
- 35:21of funny stuff in that game, and the Death of the Great Mighty Pooh
- 35:23is a good one, certainly better than buying a commando. Uh. Like
- 35:29it, don't pop in if you're not going to bring some gold, Stevie.
- 35:31I'm just saying, stay, stay at home or wherever the hell you
- 35:36are. Uh, okay, so where the hell? Yeah, where the
- 35:42hell he is? All right, So we've got the Great Mighty Pooh,
- 35:46We've got Bill Murray from Zombie Land. This is very good. Uh.
- 35:50And we've got Life of Brian one large, one more bite. Ah,
- 35:57that's so good. But I have to I have to it. Yeah,
- 36:00I have to give Merrit where Merritt is due. And Casey just did a
- 36:06brilliant job with Bill Murray from Zombie Landy, absolutely right. I'm glad I
- 36:10changed my mind. Not only was it a very good Now I want to
- 36:14know what was your original idea. My original thought was Laurie from The Walking
- 36:17Dead hilarious. Well, no, hilarious because nobody freaking liked her. Because
- 36:28so you were actually cheering when she died? Well yeah I was when Andrea
- 36:31died. Yeah, because Andrea was the worst and she had like a perfect
- 36:37pedicure. Yeah, like how do you have a perfect pedicure? And how
- 36:40do your eyebrows? That well plucked. Yeah yeah, no, like no,
- 36:45So I'm glad I changed my mind. My other my other thought was
- 36:49like, she's a horrible mother and going off the like the honest was it
- 36:52the honest trailer of the Walking Door? Oh? She like even after dead,
- 36:59she still haunts the show with her annoying presence, crashes her car on
- 37:04an empty road, Like that's what I was going for, the honest trailer
- 37:07version of it. But I'm glad I changed my mind. Yeah no,
- 37:10definitely definitely way better shot. Yeah, well better shots and you did a
- 37:16good job defending it, so it's absolutely what I wanted. I'm so well
- 37:20done. So that's gonna be two points to Casey, one point, nothing
- 37:24for Kylie yet. But Game three is worth three points and we're gonna play
- 37:30that right after this. I'm Richie aka Midnight Agent Raw. I'm Devin aka
- 37:44Special Delivery Dev. We're the Supermediate Bros. Podcast and each week we give
- 37:49a comedically informative take on movies, music, television, pro wrestling, and
- 37:53much more. Check us out at Supermedia, brospodcast dot com, Apple podcast
- 37:59Spa, or anywhere else that you can listen to podcasts. Shade's on We're
- 38:04all, hey, welcome back. It's time for game three. Game three
- 38:20is going to be the dumpster Fire. I'm gonna give our players a category.
- 38:23They'll take turns naming something from that category that they'd like to remove from
- 38:28society forever, and explain why they're throwing it into the dumpster fire. Every
- 38:32round, I'll pick my favorite that players. That player will earn one point.
- 38:37First player to three points wins the game out right and gets three episode
- 38:40points. If that doesn't happen, if we get two players with two points
- 38:45each, they will each earn three points, so everybody's got a chance.
- 38:51But if one player takes three of these, they will win outright, and
- 38:54because of the way the score is lined up, that person wins. So
- 38:58it's all comes down to this. Let's start with their first category, which
- 39:01is sitcoms. So what about sitcoms? Would you like to throw into a
- 39:07dumpster fire? Casey, you won the last game, so I'm gonna leave
- 39:09it to these two to decide who should go first. I could go first
- 39:14this time. Okay, what do you think what should go into a dumpster
- 39:17fire? From sitcoms? So the overuse of the annoying French slash child ker
- 39:24defense, But yeah, I feel like the character gets overused, especially in
- 39:34a lot of modern sitcoms. Like I've gone through a lot of sitcoms now,
- 39:38I've gone back to washed a lot of them, and it's always the
- 39:42same character. It's cookie cutter. It's like, oh cool, like all
- 39:45these other interesting characters doing interest things, but here comes the annoying person who
- 39:50spoiled and does whatever they want and then gets punished and then you have to
- 39:53kind of revel in the punishment but still deal with the fact they're on screen
- 39:57all the time. So okay, all right, sold the annoying friend slash
- 40:02child character stereotype. That's one answer. Who Kyler would you like to go
- 40:08next to? I have another character trope that drives me crazy, and that
- 40:14is the hot wife with the dumpy husband or the complete idiot husband, because
- 40:21it's like stop, you know, like these women deserve to be with somebody
- 40:25who is like a little smarter than a slug and like, you know,
- 40:30I don't know, it just holds women to a way too high standard of
- 40:34have them to be like super hot and then they're like married to Kevin James.
- 40:37You know. It's just it's so unbalanced. And it just makes me
- 40:42uncomfortable. I don't know, it's just something that always buged me. Yeah,
- 40:45it's it's such a it's such a trope, Like what do you do?
- 40:50We need to go back to like the Dick Van Dyke Show, where
- 40:52like they were both like pretty evenly equal match. You know. He was
- 40:58still kind of a dummy though, but that was kind of the chick the
- 41:00Brady bunch they were. I feel I feel like the Brady Bunch were on
- 41:04an equal level. Mostly mister Brady was gay in real life. So oh
- 41:10wow, seriously that Oh wow, I don't know, I don't know,
- 41:16I just I don't I don't like dumpy wife or dumpy husband hot wife,
- 41:22you know. And it's like women have to pass this unreachable bar of hotness
- 41:25to be on TV. Feminist soapbox alert women to a higher standard than men.
- 41:32Yeah, I was gonna say, I'm like it holds an unnatural standard
- 41:36and also like basically normalizes settling. Yeah yeah, settling for something that you're
- 41:43not and settling for having to take care of the whole household because not only
- 41:46is he dumpy, he's a dummy, you know, Like, oh no,
- 41:51I screwed up something again. It's like and the wife has to cover
- 41:55for him yea every single time. Yeah, that's that's stupid. Yeah,
- 42:00we need to see like a dumby wife with a super hot, hunky husband.
- 42:05Yeah, you need to see that. I want to see that sitcom.
- 42:07Actually, I think that would be well, like that could be really
- 42:09fun. There was a dating show and it was called Average Jos and it
- 42:13was like there were all these hot women and just like average looking dudes.
- 42:15And I was like, it would never go the other way around. There
- 42:17would never be like a bunch of average looking girls and hot guys. They'd
- 42:22be like, we're not interested in any of you, you know. So
- 42:24like it made me feel bad about myself watching. Granted, it was like
- 42:28I was in my early twenties when I was on TV, so I was
- 42:30like, you know, it's kind of like the online dating pool, Like
- 42:34yeah, yeah, like like all these this guy looks like a troll and
- 42:37he says, these I need a chick who works out at least forties a
- 42:39week. These girls that are trying to find someone online get gym to yeah
- 42:50every day. Yeah, I don't take girls one hundred and fifteen pounds,
- 42:54so exact so specific, lave me seen it, and then all the all
- 43:00these guys online who have been on there for ten plus years, like,
- 43:07you're never gonna find anybody if you're still on there. I don't know.
- 43:12All right, So we've talked about that long enough, Casey, what do
- 43:14you think what from sitcoms to go bye bye forever? I think the laugh
- 43:20tracks need to go bye bye because I don't want a laugh track to tell
- 43:28me when a joke is funny, like, don't tell me when to laugh,
- 43:31and it's I think something is funny that other people don't think it's funny.
- 43:36That's fine, I can laugh at other parts. It's also kind of
- 43:38like moving away from network comedy with live studio audiences, moving more toward like
- 43:44you know, yeah, HBO and streaming. I just don't don't tell me
- 43:50when to laugh, right, I'll laugh at what I think is funny.
- 43:52Yeah, somebody falls stupid, Okay. Yeah. I have to say I
- 43:58definitely appreciate like comedy shows without them, like Modern Family, Yes, and
- 44:05I think The Office also doesn't have a laugh track. Still very very funny
- 44:08show. Well, The Office is meant to be like a Yeah, that
- 44:15makes it. It's a it's a parody of a reality show. So yeah,
- 44:19it absolutely would not have a last in the office is one of it
- 44:21still works like you don't need to be told when to last exactly, subtle
- 44:24humor where it's not like exactly. So I like all three of these answers,
- 44:30but the one that I would like to see gone the most is,
- 44:35without a doubt, dumpy husband hot wife combo like that is outdated and unnecessary,
- 44:40and we need to move on from this horrible stereotype. So toss that
- 44:45away. Laugh track. I can, I can kind of live with,
- 44:50but it's not necessary. It's more annoying than and yes, the annoying friend.
- 44:54You almost have to have that person. You need to have conflict.
- 45:00You must have conflict. Other ways you can have conflict with you can't.
- 45:05Annoying you can, but an annoying, annoying character makes it easier. We
- 45:13want both characters that we love and that we hate. We need both,
- 45:15you know anyway? Okay, so that is one point to Kyla. Yes,
- 45:22all right, remember if you get three, you win. So let's
- 45:25move on to category number two, which is supermarkets. Now Kylo won the
- 45:30last one, so you two, Oggie and Casey you decide who wants to
- 45:32go first on this one first last time, but you want to go first
- 45:37again? Sure? Okay, Oh god, I am not prepared for this
- 45:45one. I just love everything about supermarket experience. Yeah. I don't like
- 45:52the so you know in Ikea, how they have like the arrows on the
- 46:00on the floor will tell you where to go. I think supermarkets should have
- 46:07some sort of traffic system, especially for people with carts, because you're like
- 46:15going down the aisle and you don't know if somebody is coming and they run
- 46:20into you and there, you know, or they're monopolizing space, yes,
- 46:23or you know there's a group of people and they're congregating in the middle of
- 46:29the aisle and you're like, excuse me, I just need to grab some
- 46:32bread over here. Like. So, I think that the lack of let's
- 46:39call it, yeah, shopping cart chaos, yeah, is what you want
- 46:45toss away. Yeah, And I fully agree, Like that's thoroughly frustrating,
- 46:50especially when I'm trying to get something and I'll be standing there for several minutes
- 46:53because I'm socially awkward and I won't talk to someone if I so I would
- 46:59rather sit there for several minutes waiting than say anything, and so I will
- 47:04sit there for several minutes waiting and just not say anything until they finally move
- 47:07on, and then I go, okay, thank god, grab the thing
- 47:09and go. I'm the same way. I won't say anything unless I'm like
- 47:14yeah, yeah, awkwardly like walk in a circle and then go back.
- 47:20I can look at these soaps. It's the interesting thing, Like I've never
- 47:27decided to go somewhere else and come back later. Oh, I've always just
- 47:30passively aggressively stood there. Wait, I do both. I'll just like I'll
- 47:36pace or stand and stare at something else until I believe. But yeah,
- 47:42very cool. Okay, So shopping gar chass from Casey, Do you want
- 47:45to go next to you? Do you want kyle Le to go next?
- 47:47Kylo? Okay. I don't like it when there's a certain specific product that
- 47:52you love and you buy every time, and then suddenly they're out of it
- 47:57or they've moved it and you have a hard time finding it. And I'll
- 47:59tell you what it is. I love vanilla unsweetened oat milk from Planet Oak,
- 48:06and during the pandemic, a lot of times they didn't have it,
- 48:09and I was so mad, and I would just get so frustrated and it
- 48:12made me feel old and crazy. This is an ongoing issue with you,
- 48:19and whenever I see it, I'm like, oh, should I get one
- 48:21for her? Or But like you, if I go at a certain time,
- 48:24like yeah, if I go on Sunday nights, I can usually find
- 48:28but if I see it, I'll I try to get one. People out
- 48:31there in radio lants stop buying the Planet Oak Vanilla. I want to drink
- 48:37for her, and then I'm gonna have so much. Im gonna be a
- 48:40little bathe in it. I think it's just you know, I'm picky now
- 48:46that you'll get old. We're going to eat giant bowls of cereal a giant
- 48:52serving spoon. I just quit that. Every all my jokes are related to
- 48:58like canarios, I signed out mostly so when the item you want is out
- 49:05of stock, are hard to find? Yes, that sucks? Yeah,
- 49:07agreed, agreed? Agi your your position here? What would you like to
- 49:13throw I opted to go last because I actually worked in retail, supermarket retail
- 49:19as I yeah, and uh, it's really funny to hear what you guys
- 49:23would like to throw out because in my mind, I'm like Yeah, no,
- 49:27I could. I could see that complaint because I've been there. I've
- 49:30been on the other receiving end of those complaints and stuff like that. So
- 49:32it's really for me though, and what really matters to me for in this
- 49:37case, what I would have thrown out is the amount of corporate predation that
- 49:44goes into corporate supermarkets, everything down to the layout. There's a reason why
- 49:51when you go in, the first thing you see is produce in the why
- 49:53dairies all the way in the back. There's a reason why they try to
- 49:57coax you to go in one direction towards the bakery. They can coax you
- 50:00into buying bread even though that's not what you were there for, to walk
- 50:04by all the meats, even though that's not what you were there for.
- 50:07And yeah, the same thing with sales, Like a lot of sales you
- 50:12have to have cards now with those specific businesses to get those sales. It's
- 50:16a lot of corporate predation. That's what I'd like to throw in a dumpster
- 50:24fire. Yea corporations. That's that's a really good someone who's worked in those
- 50:32situations. That's what I would throw out. That's technology. Yeah, I've
- 50:36knowntail but not in a supermarket. So yeah, I agree. Yeah,
- 50:45Kyla, I'm throwing ears right out. It's not it's not that big of
- 50:47a deal for me. I usually just find the next nearest thing and I'm
- 50:50still happy. I don't. I don't have that zeroed in onto one specific.
- 50:54Then I drink Cow's milk and I get diarrhea. I just like milk.
- 51:00Okay, No, that's fair. That's fair. I'm not saying.
- 51:02I'm not saying you're not valid. I'm just saying it's not the thing I
- 51:05throw off. And now I'm torn between these two because Casey's really irritates me,
- 51:12but his is really important. But I'm gonna go with the one that
- 51:15irritates me because I hate it when I'm trying to get something and there are
- 51:19people standing there with their shopping kirk gabbing on the phone or to someone you
- 51:24know standing opposite them with another card. Oh god, it's the worst.
- 51:31It's the absolute worst, and I hate it. And you are absolutely getting
- 51:35that point. Well, okay, so one point, Kyla, one point
- 51:37to Casey. Let's move on to category number three, energy drinks, of
- 51:42which I am enjoying right now, What about energy drinks would you throw into
- 51:47the dumpster fire? Oggie and Kyla, You guys did get to determine the
- 51:52order this time. It doesn't matter you went last last time. You can
- 51:54go first. Okay, that sounds good to me. So for energy drinks,
- 51:59for me, they don't work. I've taken well, I think you've
- 52:02seen me take like a five hour energy and then pass out five minutes later.
- 52:06Yeah, yeah, that is true. I've seen that happen. Honestly,
- 52:09the easiest one, and I apologize with is the easiest one to throw
- 52:13into a dumpster fire would be just the unhealthy ingredients. They're just shit and
- 52:15energy d not all energy drinks. There are some more natural energy drinks out
- 52:20there, but a lot of like stuff you could buy from stores supermarkets have
- 52:25bad ingredients that are not healthy for you at all, just not worth it.
- 52:30Yeah, no, I completely get it. Yeah, I don't have
- 52:37any questions, no notes, that's it, just unhealthy ingredients for real.
- 52:40Fair enough, Kyle, would you like to go next? Or make casey
- 52:45and go next? I can go next. This is kind of a personal
- 52:46experience. So my then boyfriend now husband, he used to be an energy
- 52:52drink guy and he is. He used to be very obsessed with Apple Watch.
- 52:58Well, he was having his normal second one of the day and it
- 53:01told him he was going into aphib and he needed to go to the hospital.
- 53:06And he got scared. The crip scared the crap out of him,
- 53:08and he went to the hospital and they're like, no, you're not an
- 53:12a fib you're not an atrial fibrillation, but you do have an irregular heartbeat
- 53:15because you're drinking to much caffeine. So you know, heart health is like,
- 53:20yeah, it's bad for you, like bad ingredients, but like particularly
- 53:22heart health is like people don't realize like the bad stuff that they do to
- 53:25their heart constantly, and like that's been kind of my thing the last couple
- 53:30of months, have been trying to exercise more, just specifically for heart health.
- 53:32And it's scary. And it got him to quit after drinking him for
- 53:37like fifteen years. But now he bought an espresso machine, so he's just
- 53:43replacing one vice with another. Like but it's classy. Yeah, it's like
- 53:49that's true. And he does make good latt he does. He's learning to
- 53:52do the smaller cups. Yes, very cool, very cool, bad for
- 53:59your heart, right, Yeah, I wish the energy drinks weren't bad for
- 54:04your heart, Casey, what would you throw a new a dumpster fire about
- 54:07him? Energy drinks is hard because I've I've never had one because they're so
- 54:15bad for you and because they have such bad ingredients. I've just stayed away
- 54:20from them because I know they're that bad and they're not appealing to you.
- 54:24As your argument, then exactly, they're not appealing to me. Like I
- 54:29get my energy from getting proper sleep, using my seatpat machine properly. So
- 54:38like, yeah, there's it just doesn't it just doesn't. Well, Also,
- 54:44some of them may have uh artificial dies to them. I am allergic
- 54:51to some dies that I have found out recently, So there's no idea.
- 54:55Yeah, there's no appeal at all. So you would just throw any drinks
- 55:00into the whole because of all of the above. Okay, that is fair,
- 55:07That is fair. Okay. Well, as I said, I am
- 55:10currently drinking energy. I know he's a little and I like it. I
- 55:15like it quite a lot. So again he's the one that I'm not picking
- 55:17you. That's okay. But like those kind of energy drinks, I'm okay
- 55:22with these. This is more an This is more of an artisanal in house
- 55:29artisans and drinks I'm okay with. It's more of like the manufacturer or caffeine
- 55:37A. Yeah, energy, that's that's not out of control. It basically
- 55:43helps me to not feel exhausted all the time, which I enjoy quite a
- 55:46lot of natural sugars. That's fine, yea, those aulgen and protein infusions
- 55:53and all sorts of crazy stuff. I just got the one that tastes good.
- 55:59I just like the flavor. Yeah, just I. I just get
- 56:01one once a week. It's just prior to the show, and it's just
- 56:05to make sure that i'm, you know, peppy for the for the actual
- 56:07recording, and I can there's a definite difference, like from when when I
- 56:12started doing them. I definitely feel a lot more. Really. Yeah,
- 56:15your skin is looming, so, oh my god, you're glowing. Might
- 56:20be ready, Yeah, you might want to take five. Okay. So,
- 56:27I mean, both of you made such good points, but I'm gonna
- 56:30I'm gonna give it to Kyla because that's my worry too. Even though I
- 56:36only do it once a week, you know, it's it's not something I
- 56:37do all the time. I do do it once a week, and I
- 56:39do wonder if like, at some point I'm gonna have a similar scare because
- 56:44I'm in my forties and you know clearly my health is not that great.
- 56:49But you just don't go up to two a day. No, basically,
- 56:52no, no, no. Yeah, you said he was having a second
- 56:55of the day and I was like, that's scary. Pound like three cans
- 57:00of PEPSI a day now. I barely touch the stuff. I drink water
- 57:04or juice for the most part. Yeah, just some stuff you got to
- 57:07cut out of your diet. I have, like I have like one cup
- 57:10of coffee. I have one can of soda usually per day, and that's
- 57:15it I have. I have like one pot of coffee and the one pot
- 57:21of coffee iced coffee a day. So it's already fair enough with the ice,
- 57:29but I don't put sugar in it. I just use flavored creamers,
- 57:30all right. So Kyla is sitting on two points cases got one. You
- 57:37need to get moving if you want if you want to win this game,
- 57:40you got to take both of these last two. But you've done it before,
- 57:45so I believe in you. Our fourth category is concerts. What about
- 57:50concerts? Would you throw into a dumpster fire? And again, Aggie and
- 57:52Casey. Since Kyler one last point, you guys gives a term in the
- 57:55order concerts. He's mouthing the word as if he's never heard of such a
- 58:05you know, it's really fucked up. I was gonna make a joke.
- 58:07I'm like, Oh, it's because they're too expensive and you had to,
- 58:09like, you know, buy them a cabin for in the morning. I'm
- 58:12like, oh, I know, not consort concerts. Yeah, ah,
- 58:16yes, concerts music. I've never purchased a consort, so I have no
- 58:21idea, and I know, I know, for in fact, you haven't
- 58:27either. So talking, yeah, I'm the last version he's be talking.
- 58:32Yeah, but let's see here I can go first. Then, So for
- 58:38concerts, Honestly, when I went, the biggest gripe I had was just
- 58:44the costs of merch. Like, I get it that they need a profit,
- 58:49but holy shit, is it like costs when the when the merch almost
- 58:52costs as much as a ticket. Yeah, I could have just bought another
- 58:59ticket and got them I else to come visit your show. Why you know,
- 59:01why whatever? But yeah, price of merch, yeah, you know,
- 59:06like, and I think in a lot of those cases I could be
- 59:08wrong. It might be different if you have like a recording contract, but
- 59:14because the company might actually be getting paid for the merchant, like if you're
- 59:16but like, yeah, like a lot of situations, I think like the
- 59:20band themselves are getting the money most of the money from the merch, like
- 59:23most indie bands. Yeah yeah, yeah, or like signed a big label,
- 59:28So why not why not make it a reasonable price you sell more of
- 59:31them? Yeah, you know, I don't know. That's just my thought,
- 59:34but but yeah, it if if, if their recording company is getting
- 59:38a piece of it, then you can guarantee. That's one of the reasons
- 59:40why it's so high. But yeah, merch costs are definitely a little out
- 59:45of control, especially at the bigger bands. So I get it, And
- 59:51Casey, would you like to go next? Or would you like to make
- 59:53Kyla go next? First? I was thinking because I've had kind of a
- 1:00:01personal experience with us the idea that you need to have like drugs and alcohol,
- 1:00:10had to take a substance to have a good time, because I went
- 1:00:16to a Rihanna concert several years ago and the girl that I was going with
- 1:00:24after the concerts, she's like, I need more drugs and alcohol blah,
- 1:00:27blah blah, blah blah. We went back to her their hotel room because
- 1:00:30they lived in Syracuse, and they started smoking weed in the like smoking pot
- 1:00:36in the hotel and which I don't care about the alcohol, do you,
- 1:00:42but like I don't need to take a substance to have a good time.
- 1:00:46Well, And there's also the element of babysitting. Like I've been a concerts
- 1:00:50with people who are like falling down exactly, and I'm like having a hold
- 1:00:52of them all. So I called Kyla, and I was I was gonna
- 1:00:57say with Kyla anyway, I was like I'm done, Like I just didn't
- 1:01:00want to be a part of it, because yeah, I don't want to
- 1:01:05be a part of like getting caught. And then like you know, plus
- 1:01:08I at the time, I was working at a hotel cleaning, so I'm
- 1:01:14like, yeah, no, I don't want to be in that situation exactly.
- 1:01:22There's a time and a place for that. Do it on your own
- 1:01:23time. Don't get other people involved that are not like that, that don't
- 1:01:30want to be a part of that. Yeah, absolutely, Sorry interject one
- 1:01:34more thing, because I have gone to concerts that have been so good that
- 1:01:38I have like a natural high that I I'm like, Okay, why do
- 1:01:45people need to take a specific substance to feel this way when you can just
- 1:01:49like feel that way because the music is so good. Yeah, So that's
- 1:01:54my argument is taking a sign or yes, au r ale and oral kind
- 1:02:02of soundscape and like the way it hits here from all sides, like you
- 1:02:07genuinely, genuinely do. I've the last couple of Rush concerts I've been to,
- 1:02:12I've been like, Wow, this is amazing, So I totally get
- 1:02:15where you're coming from. And finally, Kyla, what do you got so
- 1:02:20many things? Like I have so many grapes and I feel like I became
- 1:02:23an old lady way before I should have. But my one of my and
- 1:02:28there there. It's kind of two things that are together, Like I really
- 1:02:30don't like standing room only concerts for a lot of reasons, the biggest being
- 1:02:35my feet hurt. But the the one that I want to concentrate the most
- 1:02:38on is the mosh pits. Like I'm too old. I was, you
- 1:02:43know, like I probably lived through like peak mash time, but like every
- 1:02:47time I saw one forming, I was like, that looks like the least
- 1:02:52fun thing ever, And like people so what's the point? Well, like
- 1:02:54I remember with this one, I was at indoors and like there was just
- 1:02:59a huge dude in the middle throwing people around, and I was like,
- 1:03:01that is so scary. I can just see like a head and neck injury
- 1:03:06happening. But like, what's the point? Like you're not even listening to
- 1:03:10the show as they're saying, like it's a form of expression, like it's
- 1:03:13almost like Dan's but it's not. But you're not really paying attention to the
- 1:03:17performance. Then yeah, I just hear it makes me nervous. I'm nervous.
- 1:03:22I go into mom mode. I'm like, yeah, somebody gonna get
- 1:03:24hurt, like good, So that's me standing more, particularly when the mach
- 1:03:30pic comes towards you and you're like, I gotta get out of here.
- 1:03:34Okay. So nobody got my instant win for this one, which I don't.
- 1:03:40I don't always have an instant win answer for these categories, but for
- 1:03:44this one, I do in case you actually got kind of close to it.
- 1:03:47For me, the thing that I would throw into the dumpster fire,
- 1:03:51it would be the smell of drugs and alcohol that wafted over the entire proceedings.
- 1:04:00I'll tell you like I love going to Rush concerts. I absolutely do.
- 1:04:04I wish I could bring some sort of like nose filter so that you
- 1:04:10could put I couldn't smell the giant clouds of weed that just roll through the
- 1:04:15audience like it's just a natural thing, And I get it, but I
- 1:04:20hate now in today's modern day of like vaping and like edibles and all these
- 1:04:28other options, I think it might be better now, But of course,
- 1:04:31you know, Rush is no longer touring, so I'm not going to get
- 1:04:34to go to a Rush concert where that didn't happen. But every time I
- 1:04:39did still happen. Every time I did, it was the worst part.
- 1:04:41Every time I did it was the absolute worst part, and I hated it.
- 1:04:45The stale beer smell is pretty gross too, especially like if somebody spells
- 1:04:47on you. Yeah, but I am struggling to pick between them, because
- 1:04:51all three of them are pretty equal in my book. But I think I'm
- 1:04:56gonna go with the excessively high merch prices because I have wanted to buy merch
- 1:05:01and been like I can't afford that, yeah, and been like it's just
- 1:05:05a T shirt, Like maybe i'll find something on eBay later, and just
- 1:05:10sadly go home, or sometimes on their website they'll have like sales, yeah,
- 1:05:14sometimes, you know, but at the concert, like you're excited and
- 1:05:17you want, especially if it's something that somebody you really support, you want
- 1:05:21to get something. And then you're like, I that's too much, that's
- 1:05:26it's too much. I can't and that sucks. You know. Do you
- 1:05:30want your fans to have, you know, your band's name in blazon?
- 1:05:33So it's like walking advertisement. You know, why wouldn't you self cheap?
- 1:05:38But they just don't for whatever reason. So it is what it is.
- 1:05:41So Aggie has one, Casey has one, Kyla has two. Anybody can
- 1:05:46still win, and we're going to the wild card category. This is anything
- 1:05:50you want, anything at all that irritates you so much you want to throw
- 1:05:56it into the dumpster fire. Best answer wins and Kylon Casey, you guys
- 1:06:00are going to determine who goes first and who goes second? Oh man,
- 1:06:05do you have an idea? No? Okay, don't okay. So there
- 1:06:13is this TV show that recently ended its second season. It's called Our Flag
- 1:06:16Means Death and I love it, and it has fallen into the trap that
- 1:06:21a lot of TV shows have fallen into now, which is really really short
- 1:06:25seasons. First season was ten episodes. This past season was only eight.
- 1:06:30And I just feel like they're trying to you know, they expect so like
- 1:06:35TV shows and creativity and stuff like that, to do so much more with
- 1:06:40such a limited budget, and it hurts the art, you know, and
- 1:06:45so like the meta issue here is like like budgets and stuff like that,
- 1:06:53but like the micro issue here is like, stop cutting me short of episodes
- 1:06:58of freaking gay pirates kissing each other. They're adorable and they're sweet and lovely
- 1:07:04and it's a great show. And yeah, I just I hate it when,
- 1:07:10like, you know, oh, this could go on like at least
- 1:07:12three or four more episodes. Why are you cramming it off? Like like
- 1:07:15look at the last couple of seasons of Game of Throats, Like they cut
- 1:07:17those seasons so short, and it like suffered, the story suffered so much.
- 1:07:23So short TV seasons can so good. Okay, all right, that's
- 1:07:29fair. Okay, uh, Casey, would you like Augie to go first?
- 1:07:33Or do you I'll go. I thought of something, excuse me.
- 1:07:38I think people not knowing how to drive. I think during the pandemic when
- 1:07:45when nobody was on the road. I think people forgot how to drive,
- 1:07:49and hence the reason why I got into an accident this past summer because some
- 1:07:56young kid and his father's tesla pled in front of me out of it ury
- 1:08:00lane and slammed on his brakes for no reason. So I got into an
- 1:08:03accident, had to get a new car. So people not knowing how to
- 1:08:06drive, like, pay attention, get off your phones. It's it's a
- 1:08:13it's a problem, gotcha. Yeah, yeah, it absolutely is, and
- 1:08:17it could have been much worse. Yeah, oh thank god it wasn't.
- 1:08:21So yeah, that is that is definitely a threat to society, especially since
- 1:08:26I wasn't expecting my car to be totaled and it was nobody rarely even though
- 1:08:30it wasn't that I didn't have scheduled my car to be total Wednesday. Yeah,
- 1:08:35yeah, nobody ever expects that. I don't think, Oggie your last
- 1:08:40Can you top both of those? I don't know if I can. But
- 1:08:43this is definitely a gripe that you know I harbor very well. Okay,
- 1:08:46and we all know that a last second layover can be quite disheartening and upsetting,
- 1:08:54But nothing is more upsetting than a last second layover and only to have
- 1:08:59that other that you have to be on on the other side of the fucking
- 1:09:02airport and you have to be there five minutes ago. Yeah, you have
- 1:09:09to like print the worst and that is that is like, thank god it
- 1:09:14happened at the end of our trip when we went to Vegas. Yeah,
- 1:09:16because if that happened at the beginning, it would have ruined the whole fucking
- 1:09:19trip. That's the worst. Yeah, last second layovers, especially ones that
- 1:09:25result in the plane that you need to be on on the other side of
- 1:09:27the building, like give somebody a chance, or when you run across and
- 1:09:30then they've changed the gate again. Yeah, and then they give you attitude
- 1:09:35because you're running. Yeah, right that one. Okay, Yeah, that
- 1:09:42is good. Okay, So we have the pressures on last second lay that
- 1:09:50caused you to run like a mad man. We have people who don't know
- 1:09:56how to drive and cause accidents, and we have short TV seasons. One
- 1:10:00of these things is not like the other. Kyla. I'm not going with
- 1:10:04your problem. I mean, it stinks, but you know, and I
- 1:10:12do wish task Master went for longer, but I understand why it can't.
- 1:10:15And instead instead of going longer seasons. They do two seasons a year,
- 1:10:19which I think is the answer to that quandary. If one it's justified.
- 1:10:24If they did that, then that would be way better. But if they
- 1:10:27only do that many per year, then it sucks. But it's not it's
- 1:10:30not like vacation ruining, and it's nuts and it's not life endangering, and
- 1:10:38speaking of which, on those levels, one of these things is definitely worse
- 1:10:41than the other. So Casey, you're gonna get this point. People who
- 1:10:45don't know know how to drive should be tossing into a dumpster fire. Just
- 1:10:47on my way here, there was there was an asshole who pulled into the
- 1:10:54parking a lot and then swung around like I was coming up, like towards
- 1:10:58the exit of the he was coming in. He swung so fast to turn
- 1:11:02like around you wanted to go back out, but he didn't care that I
- 1:11:06was there. He's like, I'm gonna speed in front of this guy.
- 1:11:09He just went like like burned rubber to get it. That's that's one of
- 1:11:13my bit I was like that that was dumb. You could have hurt yourself,
- 1:11:16you could have hurt me, Like you didn't need to do that.
- 1:11:19You could have just waited. It wouldn't have cost you that much time.
- 1:11:23Cast you like, yeah, five seconds if that and that is not that
- 1:11:27is not a urgent thing, so like yeah, and people rushing to get
- 1:11:30past you, and then then you have to sit at a red light.
- 1:11:33It's like I always laugh. I'm like ha ha karma. Yeah. So
- 1:11:39that means that Kyla in Casey you're tied. They each get three points,
- 1:11:43which means Aggie has one, Kyla has three, but Casey has five.
- 1:11:48Winner. Why, I don't think you've ever started that high? Congratulations we
- 1:11:54can you can get six and people have gun six. Yeah, we lost
- 1:11:59so much I'm not forgotten how the scoring system works out. Suffering got well,
- 1:12:08something good came out of it, right, that's true. And I
- 1:12:10got a new car that'll be better in the snow. Hell yeah, hell
- 1:12:13yeah. Well this this dumpsterfire went on way too long. But I do
- 1:12:17want to thank my guests, Kyla and Casey, thank you so much for
- 1:12:20coming. Thank you. I always enjoy having you guys here. It's so
- 1:12:25much fun every single time, and this was no exception. I really appreciate
- 1:12:29it, and thank you one more time. Is there anything you'd like to
- 1:12:32plug or push or or anything like that. Anything at all. I'm on
- 1:12:39my fun employment tour. If you see me around town, I'll give you
- 1:12:44a hug if you want one. That's about it. No life sold.
- 1:12:51That is the life casey anything anything you want to push your design? Sure

- 1:13:09Currently working on cleaning out the apartment and making it livable on a dresser last
- 1:13:15week. Yes, it is done. I just have to like finish putting
- 1:13:19it together, putting it back together, and get it over to my sister's
- 1:13:24apartment. It's like to see the finished product. Yeah, I haven't gotten
- 1:13:27that far yet, but I am working on a YouTube video. I recently
