- 0:17Speaker 2: Welcome to our Bestie segment, My girl, this is the
- 0:25Speaker 2: place for you.
- 0:27Speaker 1: Welcome back to our best Advice.
- 0:28Speaker 2: We got Ashley and Tianhi your favorite hosts. We have
- 0:32Speaker 2: a career dilemma on our hands today from an anonymous missioner.
- 0:36Speaker 2: So ashy, one of you got friends.
- 0:38Speaker 1: Alrighty, let's go. For the past fourteen years, I've been
- 0:42Speaker 1: deeply committed to the same company. I've always been a
- 0:44Speaker 1: people focused leader. I'm naturally social and genuinely passionate about
- 0:49Speaker 1: my work. For most of that time, I thrived building
- 0:52Speaker 1: relationships with clients, supporting staff, and developing a strong personal
- 0:56Speaker 1: and professional brand in the market. But the last few
- 0:59Speaker 1: years have been very difficult. A company wide restructure, which
- 1:03Speaker 1: I am normally a part of as GM, has left
- 1:06Speaker 1: me sidelined. While two of my male peers now lead
- 1:08Speaker 1: the national operational team, my role has been redirected to
- 1:12Speaker 1: focus primarily on new business and marketing efforts. On the surface,
- 1:15Speaker 1: it looks like a strategic choice I endorsed me. In reality,
- 1:18Speaker 1: I had little influence. The results have been painful to watch.
- 1:22Speaker 1: Customers I've nurtured for a decade are unhappy. The brand
- 1:26Speaker 1: I worked so hard to build is deteriorating, and talented
- 1:29Speaker 1: staff are leaving. My peers are arrogant, their teams are
- 1:32Speaker 1: prioritize over mine, and decisions consistently exclude or undervalue my contributions.
- 1:37Speaker 1: Their roles are feeled before mine, their voices heard before mine,
- 1:41Speaker 1: and the imbalance is impossible to ignore. Despite this, I
- 1:44Speaker 1: stay Eight years ago after my ex husband's infidelity, I
- 1:47Speaker 1: endured trauma around financial independence. It embedded a fear in
- 1:51Speaker 1: me that without my own income, I could be vulnerable. Today,
- 1:54Speaker 1: I'm in a much healthier place. I have a wonderful husband,
- 1:57Speaker 1: to beautiful daughters, and a strong sense of self. Yet
- 2:00Speaker 1: that fear lingers. It stops me from resigning, even when
- 2:03Speaker 1: I know my instincts are clear. I should no longer
- 2:05Speaker 1: give my best to a company that refuses to respect
- 2:08Speaker 1: or value me equally. I was raised to work, to
- 2:11Speaker 1: own my own money and to never be dependent. That
- 2:14Speaker 1: drive has served me well, but it also keeps me
- 2:16Speaker 1: pretty stuck. I don't want to stop working, but I
- 2:18Speaker 1: feel paralyzed at the thought of leaving. Without a safety net,
- 2:21Speaker 1: whether that's another role I love or my own business
- 2:23Speaker 1: built from scratch. My dilemma is this, how do I
- 2:27Speaker 1: honor my gut instinct and move on from a company
- 2:29Speaker 1: that has stripped me of respect while also honoring the
- 2:32Speaker 1: part of me that still clings to the financial independency
- 2:34Speaker 1: as security. How do I step into the next chapter
- 2:37Speaker 1: of my career with courage rather than fear.
- 2:40Speaker 2: Help.
- 2:42Speaker 1: It's a big one. Now, you just gotta leave. I
- 2:45Speaker 1: know it sounds easier than done, but you've answered your
- 2:47Speaker 1: own question and this have you've literally said how happy
- 2:49Speaker 1: you are? You don't feel respect, you don't feel value,
- 2:51Speaker 1: you don't feel heard. If you have a sense of
- 2:54Speaker 1: self and self worth, you're out of there. You do
- 2:56Speaker 1: not deserve to be treated like that, and you are
- 2:59Speaker 1: more than capable. You have so much evidence to go
- 3:02Speaker 1: and do this, plus the support of your beautiful husband.
- 3:04Speaker 1: I think this is one of those situations like feel
- 3:06Speaker 1: the fear and do it anyway. Yes, you've got two
- 3:08Speaker 1: hard situations. Choose your hard, yes you, and to continue
- 3:10Speaker 1: living this hard that's making you absolutely fucking miserable. Or
- 3:13Speaker 1: choose a hard that could open up so many more
- 3:15Speaker 1: doors and let actually like spread your wings and fly
- 3:18Speaker 1: be free. Yeah.
- 3:19Speaker 2: Absolutely, it's so true what you just said. You said,
- 3:22Speaker 2: here's my dilemma, Like, how do I follow my intuition?
- 3:25Speaker 1: You make a choice?
- 3:26Speaker 2: Yeah, following your intuition leaving the company. Both choices that
- 3:29Speaker 2: you have to make. Both sides of the coin are scary.
- 3:32Speaker 2: You make the leap scary, you stay also scary.
- 3:35Speaker 1: Yes, you know what I mean.
- 3:36Speaker 2: But it's like you have to feel willing to cling
- 3:38Speaker 2: to the vision of the thing that you can't yet
- 3:40Speaker 2: feel because you know it will be better for you. Like, yes,
- 3:43Speaker 2: you may not know all of the steps. You don't
- 3:45Speaker 2: need to know what's going to happen in the next
- 3:46Speaker 2: hundred steps. You just need to know the next step.
- 3:48Speaker 2: And honestly, the best decisions I've ever made have been
- 3:51Speaker 2: the ones that I've made where I've had no safety net. Yeah,
- 3:54Speaker 2: where I jumped, where I left mine own to five
- 3:56Speaker 2: and then started my own business, and then I had
- 3:58Speaker 2: no idea what I was doing. I had no experience
- 4:00Speaker 2: in business. But that's how you learn, that's how you grow.
- 4:03Speaker 2: And if you know that you're on fulfilled in this area,
- 4:06Speaker 2: you've already answered your own question, like what actually said,
- 4:08Speaker 2: you know, you know, you've just got to be willing
- 4:10Speaker 2: to be courageous. You don't even need to be confident
- 4:12Speaker 2: in yourself that you can succeed or that you want
- 4:15Speaker 2: to build the business from scratch. The business is going
- 4:17Speaker 2: to take time. Go get a temp job. Just think
- 4:20Speaker 2: about it as a stepping stone. Think about it as
- 4:23Speaker 2: a stepping stone. If you leave this job, now get
- 4:25Speaker 2: one that doesn't take as much mental time and capacity,
- 4:27Speaker 2: but you still get the same equal pay. That'll give
- 4:29Speaker 2: you your safety neck back. And then if you want
- 4:31Speaker 2: to go build your own business, you can do that
- 4:32Speaker 2: on the side. If that's what you need to do,
- 4:34Speaker 2: go and do that.
- 4:35Speaker 1: There are so many.
- 4:35Speaker 2: Options for you. There really is so many options. You
- 4:38Speaker 2: just have to be willing to be courageous.
- 4:40Speaker 1: That's it, definitely, and we've done it many times. Even
- 4:44Speaker 1: you know what too. I think the universe is giving
- 4:46Speaker 1: you so many signs and signals and whispers that this
- 4:49Speaker 1: isn't right. Few if you don't listen, the universe will
- 4:51Speaker 1: make you listen. I can only speak from experience from
- 4:53Speaker 1: last year when I was diagnosed with my brain aneurysm.
- 4:56Speaker 1: I remember, like months leading up to that, I was
- 4:58Speaker 1: crying to Steve on the couch, just random tied during
- 5:00Speaker 1: the night, like I don't know why I'm crying. I'm
- 5:02Speaker 1: just not happy, Like I don't feel excited to get
- 5:05Speaker 1: up and go to work anymore, and I just feel
- 5:06Speaker 1: so stuck. But I do love it, like I'm so
- 5:09Speaker 1: grateful to have my own active war label, like girl's
- 5:11Speaker 1: dream of this. I dropped of this, so I'd like
- 5:12Speaker 1: convinced myself out of it, and oh, it's just a
- 5:14Speaker 1: hard day, it's just my period, or I'm just tired,
- 5:17Speaker 1: and I make up all these excuses. And I was
- 5:20Speaker 1: getting headaches and I was really stiff in my neck,
- 5:22Speaker 1: and then I obviously lost my sight when I got
- 5:24Speaker 1: the CT scan, You've got a brain aneurysm. And I
- 5:26Speaker 1: felt like that forty eight hours I had in hospital,
- 5:28Speaker 1: the universe was like literally shaking me, saying, you have
- 5:31Speaker 1: choicey eight you're not happy, What the fuck are you doing?
- 5:33Speaker 1: I'm going to force you to slow down and actually
- 5:35Speaker 1: reevaluate everything. And I did in that I reckon twenty
- 5:39Speaker 1: four hours, I decided to close down my active Way
- 5:41Speaker 1: label was far that wasn't assful, that had earned me money,
- 5:44Speaker 1: that I had a team that I was part of
- 5:46Speaker 1: my identity. I was absolutely terrified, and in the next
- 5:50Speaker 1: couple of days, I also decided to hand the app
- 5:52Speaker 1: over to Levi, which I had spent fifteen years building
- 5:54Speaker 1: so many different apps. In the last twelve months built
- 5:56Speaker 1: all the programs, put so much my time and effort
- 5:59Speaker 1: into it, and I was like, no, this is time
- 6:01Speaker 1: for me to change. I knew I had this like
- 6:03Speaker 1: pulling intuition, and I knew that I wanted to make
- 6:06Speaker 1: more impact in a different way. I was so scared
- 6:08Speaker 1: and podcasting, they're not a lot of money in it, Like,
- 6:10Speaker 1: obviously you can grow it and it takes a long time,
- 6:13Speaker 1: but to leap from what I had to wanting to
- 6:16Speaker 1: go full time into podcasts, it's a huge jump. Yes,
- 6:19Speaker 1: that's not a safety net. It's like you're going to
- 6:21Speaker 1: get a lot less money and you're going to have
- 6:23Speaker 1: to really start from the bottom up. But I just knew.
- 6:27Speaker 1: I knew that I had to take that plunge because
- 6:30Speaker 1: I just wasn't happy and you were clearly not happy
- 6:32Speaker 1: where you are, So like you have evidence you're more
- 6:35Speaker 1: than capable, and you know you're deserving of it.
- 6:38Speaker 2: You got a jump, and you know what the cool
- 6:39Speaker 2: thing to pay attention to with this is you're still
- 6:41Speaker 2: going to feel like this in three months time. Yeah,
- 6:43Speaker 2: you're still going to feel like this in six months time.
- 6:45Speaker 2: And something that I think of all the time is like,
- 6:49Speaker 2: and something that I live by is just rip the
- 6:50Speaker 2: bandit off. Yeah, whatever it is that you want, if
- 6:53Speaker 2: it's something that you need to stop doing, something you
- 6:54Speaker 2: want to start doing, rip the fucking bandit off. Don't
- 6:57Speaker 2: wait until New Year's don't wait until your birthday, don't
- 7:00Speaker 2: wait until Monday. Like, just cut the bullshit with yourself
- 7:04Speaker 2: in the most love way and honor yourself in what
- 7:07Speaker 2: you know you need to do right now, because your
- 7:09Speaker 2: intuition knows and you know it's there too. And the
- 7:12Speaker 2: way that you strengthen your intuition is by listening to
- 7:15Speaker 2: it and acting on the pools that it tells you.
- 7:18Speaker 2: That's how you get stronger in doing that.
- 7:20Speaker 1: Yeah, I agree, And otherwise your body's going to tell you.
- 7:23Speaker 1: Otherwise you'll get sick, you get tired, you get exhausted,
- 7:26Speaker 1: you'll be burnt out, you'll feel so un happy and
- 7:27Speaker 1: be like, oh my gosh, I don't know why.
- 7:29Speaker 2: Yeah, you know why, and you know it in three
- 7:30Speaker 2: months from now. If you make this decision now, you're
- 7:32Speaker 2: gonna be like, well, thank god, oh my.
- 7:35Speaker 1: God, yeah you will. You'll look back in hinds I'd
- 7:37Speaker 1: be like, gosh, I should have done that a year earlier.
- 7:39Speaker 1: Don't be in the same position you aren't this time
- 7:41Speaker 1: next year, still upset about where you're at.
- 7:43Speaker 2: Absolutely, there's something you don't like in your life. You
- 7:45Speaker 2: have the choice to change it.
- 7:46Speaker 1: Yes, love that. We hope that helps give us an update.
- 7:49Speaker 1: Send us a message when you have quizz Please, I
- 7:51Speaker 1: want to I want to hear it. I expect it

- 7:58Speaker 1: that quit. Thanks for joining us. Guys will see the
