- 0:34enjoy today's episode of The Hypnotist.
- 0:41Hi, it's Adam here. And in today's episode of The
- 0:44Hypnotist, you're going to be listening to a weight loss
- 0:47hypnosis session with a bit of A twist.
- 0:49And that twist is that this is less about changing what you eat
- 0:54and a lot more about finding the fun, excitement, and perhaps
- 0:59even freedom that comes from physical activities.
- 1:03And a lot of people make the idea of being physically active.
- 1:08Seem like a. Chore seem like it's a dread by
- 1:11calling it exercise and. They get.
- 1:15Flashbacks of when they were at school doing, you know, jogging
- 1:19or running in the rain and horrible things.
- 1:22So this is designed to create a feeling of wanting to be more
- 1:30active because of how it makes you feel.
- 1:34And I was working with a client that.
- 1:36When they. Considered themselves at their
- 1:39fittest and in their ideal body shape.
- 1:41It was. At a time when they were doing
- 1:43lots of horse riding and the physicality of traipsing around
- 1:49and galloping around on horses meant that they.
- 1:52Were physically. In a good shape, but they didn't
- 1:55have the time to be on horses now because that.
- 1:58Was a different. Time in their life, but they had
- 2:02tried to do gym memberships and personal trainers and it felt
- 2:07like it was something they should do, but they didn't
- 2:09really want to do so. This takes that concept and
- 2:13plays with time. So there's a regression to a
- 2:16resourceful state. There's future pacing to when
- 2:19they have that really desirable body shape that they want for an
- 2:23upcoming holiday in their future.
- 2:25And then they figure out what would have needed to have
- 2:28happened for them to naturally have that body shape.
- 2:30And that might be swimming or walking more or jogging or going
- 2:35to the gym or finding a class. They like something that it
- 2:39becomes a way of taking something that is positive and
- 2:45then amplifying it. That already made changes with
- 2:48reducing alcohol, so this suggestion about a chain
- 2:52reaction is designed. To take the.
- 2:55Progress they've already made and.
- 2:57Use that. To create momentum, to make even
- 3:02more positive changes. And I think one of the most
- 3:04wonderful things to think about a change in your life.
- 3:07You can just look at a change as a change, or you can look at a
- 3:11change as the start of a chain reaction.
- 3:14And when it has that ability to really, one thing leads to
- 3:19another, leads to another, almost like a row of dominoes
- 3:21going down. That's when you know people that
- 3:23haven't seen you for a year or two are just shocked at the
- 3:27level of change that can take place.
- 3:29And not because of one change, but because that one change led
- 3:32to another change led to another.
- 3:34And that's what creates these incredible transformations.
- 3:37So if you like the idea of embarking on a physical
- 3:41transformation, and maybe in different ways as well, I think
- 3:44this idea of a chain reaction could be quite helpful.
- 3:49And even better, if you have some kind of summer holiday
- 3:52booked later this year, or you know the kind of place that
- 3:55you're going to be, you can start imagining yourself already
- 3:58being that body shape as always it was.
- 4:02Created. For a specific individual, you
- 4:04might not have an affinity with horse riding, or the change you
- 4:08might want to make might not be because of physical activity, it
- 4:12might come from dietary changes. So if you do want something a
- 4:15bit more bespoke to you and your individual needs, there will be
- 4:18a link in the show notes where you can schedule that
- 4:20consultation. Call to explore.
- 4:21Working with me for now though. Find a quiet, comfortable place
- 4:25where you won't be disturbed. Relax and enjoy the session.
- 5:04Take a deep. Breath.
- 5:07In And as you breathe in, breathe in that feeling of
- 5:13relaxation. And as you exhale, just allow
- 5:16your eyelids to close. And as they close, scan your
- 5:22body for any feelings of tension and allow it to release.
- 5:29And when you breathe in, breathe in slightly longer and deeper.
- 5:34And as you exhale, allow that outward breath to continue a
- 5:41little bit longer than it normally would, so that as you
- 5:46breathe in and breathe down, each breath ever so slightly
- 5:53longer than the last, breathing in resourcefulness, exhaling
- 5:59tension, and give yourself a sense of acknowledgement for the
- 6:10progress you've already made. I want you to get a sense then.
- 6:22A change can just be a change, but a change can also be the
- 6:30beginning of a chain reaction. Only to use the power of your
- 6:39imagination to imagine a big long line of dominoes and then
- 6:48imagine a single solitary domino all by itself.
- 6:57And imagine tipping over that single solitary domino.
- 7:02And it's just that one domino falls and everything continues
- 7:09as it was. But as you breathe in and
- 7:14breathe out, imagine what would happen if that line of dominoes
- 7:22had that first domino flipped over.
- 7:29The first domino hits the second, hits the third.
- 7:34Imagine an incredible chain reaction that was only possible
- 7:40because of that very first domino.
- 7:48And what if a change you've already made isn't a blip, isn't
- 7:56A1 off, but the start of the most wonderful chain reaction,
- 8:02taking your life and your future to wonderful, positive and
- 8:07empowering places? What if the 17th domino that
- 8:13falls is someone you love doing something different because they
- 8:19were inspired by you? But that 17th domino only fell
- 8:28because of the 1st and then the second.
- 8:34Every good decision, every positive change could be the
- 8:39very next domino in that chain reaction.
- 8:46Breathe in and breathe out and allow your imagination to take
- 8:49you to countryside on a spring or summer's day that you
- 8:57remember from your childhood. I want you to return to that
- 9:06childhood countryside at your current age, but I want you to
- 9:13see someone that looks just like you riding on a horse.
- 9:24If you could imagine that, let me know by nodding your head and
- 9:30just observe. Observe the emotion of that
- 9:36younger version of you on that horse.
- 9:40Maybe they look relaxed and free.
- 9:44Maybe they're smiling. Maybe there's a sense of peace
- 9:49or calm. Maybe they're with someone, a
- 9:57friend. I want you to get a sense this
- 10:07is reconnaissance for you. I want you to get a sense that
- 10:13when certain ingredients are there, doing something physical
- 10:20is not a chore, it's a pleasure. It's not something you should
- 10:27do, it's something you can't wait to do.
- 10:30And on that spring or summer day, just imagine seeing the
- 10:38blue skies, feeling the warmth of the sun on your skin, and
- 10:45feeling that it's helping you to melt away any tension, any
- 10:50stresses. I want you to get a sense that
- 10:59all of those feelings that you had back then are possible,
- 11:04possible for you now and in the moment.
- 11:08And I want you to imagine feeling what it would feel like
- 11:11to step into that version of you where you now feel like you're
- 11:18that age, roaming around the countryside, maybe even
- 11:25galloping. Feel the wind on your face, the
- 11:33rhythm, the movement, a wonderful sense of freedom, of
- 11:38fun, of excitement. Your heart was racing sometimes,
- 11:48but you didn't notice. Your muscles were getting
- 11:53stronger, but that was never the point.
- 11:59I want you to get a sense then when you naturally become fit
- 12:05and strong and healthy, it's because it was the side effect
- 12:10of what you were doing, not the function.
- 12:15But if it feels like you're reconnecting with that sense of
- 12:19activity, freedom, enjoyment, you know by nodding your head
- 12:29and sometimes you were in a state of flow, you were able to
- 12:37do things without even thinking about it.
- 12:44You may have even been galloping fast and daydreaming at the same
- 12:48time because your mind and body knew how to ride that horse, so
- 12:55you didn't even need to think about it.
- 12:57And some people call this unconscious competence, the
- 13:08ability to do something well without even trying.
- 13:15But it didn't start that way. You can recall the very first
- 13:20time you got onto a horse and it felt daunting, intimidating.
- 13:27You weren't sure what to do, but you stuck with it.
- 13:31And that awkward feeling of being judged, not knowing what
- 13:37to do, very quickly became a feeling of confidence.
- 13:45You trusted yourself to do it well, and what if there's other
- 13:53things now in your present like that?
- 13:57That only feel awkward. Because they're slightly outside
- 14:00of your comfort zone. What if the goal is to feel
- 14:05comfortable enough till you can do them without thinking?
- 14:11But first, let's visit a future. I want you to imagine drifting
- 14:17forwards in time, beyond the present, into the very next
- 14:23summer. But this time I want you to
- 14:27imagine that you're observing your future self like you're
- 14:29someone else. And I want you to see them on
- 14:38holiday, perhaps by a pool, by a beach, wearing the clothes that
- 14:48reveal a strong, healthy, athletic body.
- 14:53I want you to see yourself with the kind of body shape that you
- 15:01would be proud of, that you would feel confident in, that
- 15:06would give you a sense of sky high self esteem.
- 15:11And when you can see that future version of you with that body
- 15:15shape that is desirable for you, let me know by nodding your
- 15:20head. I want you to get a sense that
- 15:26this is not wishful thinking. What if this is the consequence
- 15:36of two or three decisions and the lag time that follows?
- 15:45A decision to reduce or eliminate alcohol would mean
- 15:50thousands of empty calories are no longer consumed.
- 15:53A desire to go to the gym two or three times a week would change
- 16:02your body composition. Finding something active and fun
- 16:12would mean that your body composition changes, fat is
- 16:19reduced and muscle is increased, not as the intention, but as the
- 16:24side effect. And I want you to see that
- 16:28future version of you, if just two or three things change,
- 16:36things that you enjoy doing and also help you to become fitter,
- 16:43healthier and stronger. And then step into that future
- 16:49version of you. Feel how much more energy you
- 16:54have, how much stronger you feel.
- 16:57And imagine staring into a full length mirror and smiling as
- 17:06that inner dialogue says something complimentary about
- 17:10yourself. And you know it's true.
- 17:15Not an affirmation, an evaluation.
- 17:20You are evaluating that you've made some changes and this is
- 17:26your reward for those changes. And if it feels like this is a
- 17:34desirable but also possible future, let me know about
- 17:39nodding your head. And as you look at yourself in
- 17:44the mirror, I want you to think, what simple things did you do
- 17:51that led to this body? Imagine travelling through time.
- 17:55You're now in your future, thinking back to the very simple
- 18:00things you did to create this body shape.
- 18:07Maybe you rejoined the gym. Maybe you found a personal
- 18:11trainer. Maybe you discovered an exercise
- 18:16class that you had so much fun doing.
- 18:22Maybe you started swimming once or twice a week.
- 18:26Or maybe you decided to watch certain TV shows while you're on
- 18:35a cardio machine. I don't want you to get a sense
- 18:39that you don't need to do all of these things.
- 18:44Just finding one or two things that are fun, enjoyable kind of
- 18:51things you can do regularly until it becomes just a part of
- 18:57a routine, a habit, something that harnesses your nature to be
- 19:04a creature of habit. But now have it work for you
- 19:08rather than against you. And if you can think of maybe
- 19:13one or two things that would make this body shape inevitable,
- 19:21let me know by nodding your head.
- 19:26And as you think back, I want you to think of the moment that
- 19:30something changed. A fear of judgement suddenly led
- 19:38to a point where you couldn't care less.
- 19:45You were going to do that thing anyway.
- 19:50Finding something magical happened that the moment you
- 19:55decided to simply not care of the opinions of other people,
- 20:03you made the very thing more fun, more free, more desirable
- 20:10for you. Nobody would want to lose weight
- 20:15or get strong if it was a miserable journey.
- 20:20I want you to recall that when you were horse riding regularly,
- 20:25you had a great physique as a side effect of being active
- 20:32regularly and therefore that is the winning formula.
- 20:40Not to miserably lose weight, but to train your body to adapt
- 20:47while enjoying the process. Give yourself permission to do
- 20:52that as you imagine drifting back to the present, thinking
- 20:58about what you will do in the next few days, that could
- 21:06represent the second or third domino in that chain reaction.
- 21:10And when you know exactly what you would do, let me know by
- 21:15nodding your head. That's it.
- 21:22So take that thought, turn it into a decision, and figure out
- 21:27what you would do to implement that decision, enabling your
- 21:32chain reaction to continue. But it's time to return fully to
- 21:41the present. No longer in the future, no
- 21:43longer in the past, completely in the here and now.
- 21:47So take a deep breath in through your nose and out through your
- 21:51nose. Just wiggle your fingers and
- 21:54wiggle your toes. Start to calibrate with the here
- 21:56and now as I now count from 1:00 to 10:00 to awaken you.
- 22:03Starting to count 123 waking up 456 more alert 7-8.
- 22:10Open your eyes. Open your eyes 910.
- 22:13Wide awake, wide awake, wide awake.
