• 0:14
SPEAKER_06: I'm your host, Hannah Ostrapcha Krause here with the one and only.
• 0:18
  SPEAKER_06: My husband, Peter Krause.
• 0:21
  SPEAKER_05: The one and only.
• 0:23
SPEAKER_06: I say that every time.
• 0:24
SPEAKER_06: Like, what am I supposed to say?
• 0:25
SPEAKER_06: I have to dramatize it, you know?
• 0:26
SPEAKER_06: You know, like in radio shows, they'd be like, the one and only.
• 0:30
  SPEAKER_06: No one can compare.
• 0:33
SPEAKER_06: So about three minutes ago, Peter had his what looked like his face in his plate of food.
• 0:39
SPEAKER_06: He was like, I'm gonna take a nap now.
• 0:41
SPEAKER_06: And I was like, we actually need to record the podcast.
• 0:43
  SPEAKER_06: So here we are.
• 0:44
SPEAKER_02: I'm attempting to do uh more calories on a daily basis, and it is exhausting.
• 0:52
SPEAKER_02: Uh I've been perpetually under-eating for many years unintentionally.
• 0:57
SPEAKER_02: And after finally doing a food recall of my own, I was like, oh wow, this is not not going in the right direction.
• 1:02
SPEAKER_06: He's on a quest to eat more, and he about halfway through every meal, he just is like, why?
• 1:08
  SPEAKER_02: It doesn't feel right.
• 1:10
SPEAKER_02: Like, why should we have to eat this much food just to sustain activity?
• 1:14
SPEAKER_02: But I'm such an active dude, I gotta eat a lot of it.
• 1:18
  SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
• 1:18
SPEAKER_06: Um, well, believe it or not, we're actually not here to talk about Peter's dieting and exercise.
• 1:25
SPEAKER_06: We are here to talk about the fact that when you're listening to this, I'm 39 weeks pregnant.
• 1:33
SPEAKER_06: So we're about to become parents.
• 1:36
SPEAKER_06: Why are you so giggly?
• 1:38
  SPEAKER_07: Like, what is this?
• 1:42
SPEAKER_07: I can't look at the camera because like I look so plump.
• 1:46
  SPEAKER_07: Like lighting is terrible.
• 1:47
  SPEAKER_07: The lighting is horrendous.
• 1:49
  SPEAKER_07: Yeah, it's so random.
• 1:50
SPEAKER_06: And I'm also wearing like a strawberry shirt that I found when I was packing.
• 1:54
SPEAKER_06: Like, I'm wearing the weirdest clothing.
• 1:56
  SPEAKER_04: Uh uh State Fair.
• 1:57
  SPEAKER_04: Whatever we call it.
• 1:58
SPEAKER_06: I got it from Milwaukee.
• 1:59
  SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
• 1:59
  SPEAKER_04: It was like a children's small.
• 2:01
  SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
• 2:01
SPEAKER_07: Well, you want to see what it looks like?
• 2:03
SPEAKER_07: Let me stand up, guys.
• 2:04
  SPEAKER_07: Hold on.
• 2:05
  SPEAKER_07: Look at this.
• 2:06
  SPEAKER_07: I'm like full.
• 2:07
SPEAKER_05: For those who can't see it.
• 2:10
  SPEAKER_05: Oh my god.
• 2:11
  SPEAKER_07: Fold dear belly.
• 2:13
  SPEAKER_07: What?
• 2:13
SPEAKER_05: There's a character in um Peter, don't you dare.
• 2:17
  SPEAKER_05: I'm sorry.
• 2:17
SPEAKER_05: I have to Is it bad?
• 2:19
  SPEAKER_05: It's not good.
• 2:20
SPEAKER_07: Is it is it a is it a large male?
• 2:22
SPEAKER_03: Yes, with a big beard and he's Irish and he's got his tiny little shirt on.
• 2:27
  SPEAKER_03: It's Austin Powers.
• 2:29
SPEAKER_03: Oh my character with Austin Powers.
• 2:34
  SPEAKER_07: Oh my Lanza.
• 2:37
  SPEAKER_06: Oh yeah, very cute.
• 2:38
SPEAKER_06: It's a door large man belly, he says.
• 2:41
  SPEAKER_06: No, I'm okay.
• 2:42
SPEAKER_06: I actually like having a large belly.
• 2:44
SPEAKER_06: What come or what I don't like are the things that come with a large belly, which is like a large face right now.
• 2:49
  SPEAKER_02: Stop it.
• 2:49
  SPEAKER_02: That's not true.
• 2:50
SPEAKER_06: This is how I know Peter's gonna be a good dad.
• 2:52
SPEAKER_06: This is why I wanted to do this episode in general.
• 2:55
  SPEAKER_06: Oh, thank you.
• 2:56
  SPEAKER_06: Thank you so much.
• 2:57
  SPEAKER_06: You totally redeemed yourself.
• 2:59
  SPEAKER_06: What was I saying?
• 2:59
SPEAKER_06: I was saying this is the reason why I think Peter's gonna be such a good dad was about 30 minutes before we started recording.
• 3:06
SPEAKER_06: Peter said I said something along the lines of like, God, I look like such crap right now.
• 3:13
SPEAKER_06: And Peter was like, Stop what you're doing, take it back, apologize to yourself, and like fully made me stop and apologize to myself.
• 3:22
SPEAKER_06: And he was like, Do you mean it though?
• 3:23
  SPEAKER_06: Do you mean it?
• 3:24
SPEAKER_06: You can't speak like that about yourself.
• 3:26
SPEAKER_06: And so for that reason, I know Peter's gonna be a great dad, in particular, a great girl dad.
• 3:32
  SPEAKER_02: Thanks.
• 3:33
  SPEAKER_02: I agree.
• 3:35
SPEAKER_06: Did you hit this button?
• 3:36
SPEAKER_06: Because I'll literally kill you.
• 3:37
  SPEAKER_05: Accidentally.
• 3:38
  SPEAKER_06: Peter?
• 3:39
SPEAKER_06: I think your mic's been muted this whole time.
• 3:42
  SPEAKER_04: Oh no.
• 3:44
  SPEAKER_06: Oh no.
• 3:46
  SPEAKER_04: Round two.
• 3:47
SPEAKER_06: Peter's microphone is muted for about 20 minutes there when we started recording the podcast.
• 3:51
  SPEAKER_06: So we're back.
• 3:51
  SPEAKER_06: We're back in connection.
• 3:52
SPEAKER_06: We had to start over.
• 3:53
SPEAKER_02: Oh, what's funny about it?
• 3:54
SPEAKER_02: I moved the microphone in an attempt to give you better audio of my voice.
• 4:00
  SPEAKER_02: And instead unmuted myself.
• 4:04
SPEAKER_02: That's why you don't interfere with professionals.
• 4:06
  SPEAKER_06: There's a mouthful there, right?
• 4:08
SPEAKER_06: Um God, what like what did we even talk about?
• 4:12
SPEAKER_06: How do I talk about what we just talked about?
• 4:14
SPEAKER_02: I mostly just laughed the whole time.
• 4:15
SPEAKER_06: He called me a drunk old Irishman for my opponent.
• 4:19
SPEAKER_02: I said you remind me of a character from Austin Powers specifically.
• 4:22
SPEAKER_06: It was because of my ballet.
• 4:23
SPEAKER_06: So we are on here to talk about uh the fact that when you're listening to this, I'm 39 weeks pregnant and ready to pop.
• 4:33
SPEAKER_06: Turkey's done, as they like to say.
• 4:36
  SPEAKER_02: Oh, my little turkey.
• 4:37
  SPEAKER_06: Yeah, the turkey's done.
• 4:38
SPEAKER_06: And um I was saying before we were so rudely interrupted by Peter's microphone networking that I was on a roll.
• 4:47
  SPEAKER_03: It's a great episode.
• 4:48
  SPEAKER_06: We're on baby watch.
• 4:50
SPEAKER_06: Every day now is a day where we're like, could it could this be the day?
• 4:53
SPEAKER_02: You know what I thought about as I was walking out of the house today?
• 4:56
  SPEAKER_06: What?
• 4:56
SPEAKER_02: I wish I could be as colorful as Hannah.
• 4:58
SPEAKER_02: I always wear very like earthy tones, like very basic browns, greens, black.
• 5:05
SPEAKER_02: You're wearing like all these vibrant colors and you're sitting here doing your work.
• 5:08
  SPEAKER_02: I'm like, oh, she's so cute.
• 5:09
  SPEAKER_02: That's so sweet.
• 5:10
SPEAKER_02: Be so vibrant and beautiful.
• 5:12
SPEAKER_06: Oh, I'd like to be colorful.
• 5:13
  SPEAKER_02: I hate it.
• 5:14
SPEAKER_06: Every time I wear like one of my pink sweaters, though, you always tell me it doesn't look good.
• 5:18
SPEAKER_03: The pink is not a good one.
• 5:19
  SPEAKER_03: That one.
• 5:21
SPEAKER_03: That one specific pink sweater.
• 5:23
SPEAKER_07: It's my most could accidentally throw it away.
• 5:26
SPEAKER_02: I actually pulled that out of the wash today or like out of the way I think I'd been hang drying.
• 5:31
SPEAKER_04: I was like, I put this in the garbage.
• 5:35
  SPEAKER_06: I love pink.
• 5:36
SPEAKER_06: I think it's so fun to wear pink.
• 5:37
SPEAKER_04: It's a cute little girl sweater, not on a 35-year-old adult, in my opinion.
• 5:42
  SPEAKER_06: You guys, it's like a chic button-down sweater.
• 5:45
  SPEAKER_06: Like carbon.
• 5:49
SPEAKER_06: My baby belly was sticking out of it.
• 5:52
  SPEAKER_06: But it is.
• 5:52
  SPEAKER_06: It's like a chic, nice.
• 5:53
  SPEAKER_06: It's like from anthropology.
• 5:55
SPEAKER_06: It's so funny to it's not any rinky dinky thing.
• 5:58
  SPEAKER_03: No, it's adorable.
• 5:59
  SPEAKER_06: Anyways, all right.
• 6:00
SPEAKER_06: So because we're about to pop, we're really about to become serious parents.
• 6:04
SPEAKER_06: I've had Peter on the podcast many times and we've talked about all of our milestones.
• 6:07
SPEAKER_06: I mean, the first time you were on, we talked about the fact that we had just figured out we were pregnant and that we were getting engaged.
• 6:14
SPEAKER_06: I'm sorry, we were getting married.
• 6:16
SPEAKER_06: Because again, the story goes, we got engaged, and then seven days later, eight days later, we found out I was pregnant.
• 6:24
  SPEAKER_05: The story goes.
• 6:25
  SPEAKER_06: That is a story.
• 6:27
  SPEAKER_05: It's true.
• 6:27
SPEAKER_06: As the old story goes.
• 6:29
SPEAKER_02: It makes it sound like it's made up.
• 6:30
SPEAKER_02: Like you're just like, as I was telling people.
• 6:33
  SPEAKER_06: Certainly not made up.
• 6:34
SPEAKER_02: It's definitely not made up.
• 6:36
SPEAKER_02: That was a scary time.
• 6:38
SPEAKER_06: It was a plot twist and a half.
• 6:39
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it was.
• 6:40
  SPEAKER_02: Didn't expect that one.
• 6:41
  SPEAKER_02: But here we are.
• 6:42
SPEAKER_02: And now the babies literally do it any minute.
• 6:44
SPEAKER_02: And it keeps basically like jumping me out of my bones with random fears of like the baby's not moved in 24 hours.
• 6:53
SPEAKER_06: I got really nervous the other day.
• 6:54
  SPEAKER_02: Or now it's wake.
• 6:56
SPEAKER_02: It's it's all these other things too.
• 6:57
SPEAKER_02: It's I just read all these mommy and me blogs and saying these are all the signs, and I have those signs.
• 7:02
SPEAKER_06: Yeah, these are all the okay.
• 7:03
SPEAKER_02: So this has been the last week of my life.
• 7:05
  SPEAKER_06: Here's what happened.
• 7:06
  SPEAKER_02: Let's explain that's really quickly.
• 7:08
  SPEAKER_06: Yesterday.
• 7:09
SPEAKER_02: One night, middle of the night, sound asleep.
• 7:11
  SPEAKER_02: Wake up.
• 7:12
SPEAKER_02: And like popping up like a jack in the box.
• 7:14
  SPEAKER_02: Like, ah, my stomach.
• 7:16
SPEAKER_02: As if she's going into labor.
• 7:18
SPEAKER_06: It was Braxton next to you.
• 7:19
SPEAKER_02: The next night, she goes to the bathroom of the night, flushes the toilet so aggressively for some reason.
• 7:25
SPEAKER_03: I thought it was her water breaking on the toilet.
• 7:28
  SPEAKER_06: That's a you problem.
• 7:29
SPEAKER_03: I jumped up, I sprang into action, I was like, she's just peeing.
• 7:34
  SPEAKER_05: Um yeah.
• 7:36
SPEAKER_06: Okay, let me explain what happened yesterday.
• 7:38
SPEAKER_06: What really happened was that I think Babygirl was having like a sleepy day.
• 7:43
SPEAKER_06: She just wasn't as active as she normally is.
• 7:46
  SPEAKER_06: And it scared me.
• 7:47
SPEAKER_06: I I feel like I haven't felt her not move in a like that in quite some time.
• 7:53
  SPEAKER_06: Oh.
• 7:54
  SPEAKER_06: Maybe even ever.
• 7:54
  SPEAKER_06: And I think it's partially because she's moved.
• 7:56
SPEAKER_06: She's lowered herself a little bit, like she's dropped a little bit.
• 7:59
SPEAKER_06: So the kicks and the movement feel differently.
• 8:02
SPEAKER_06: Like it's like a heavier feeling almost, and it's like pressure.
• 8:06
SPEAKER_06: I literally can't look at myself as I'm talking because I just look so swollen.
• 8:10
  SPEAKER_06: Oh my god.
• 8:11
  SPEAKER_06: So pregnant.
• 8:11
  SPEAKER_06: Sorry.
• 8:12
  SPEAKER_06: Anyways, I digress.
• 8:13
SPEAKER_06: I was up on, I was online looking at a bunch of stupid articles and a bunch of TikTok videos of women talking about if they had late feelings or late movement right towards birth, whatever.
• 8:24
SPEAKER_06: And so many of the videos were like, Here are the signs you're about to labor at 72 to 48 hours.
• 8:29
SPEAKER_06: Well, since I've watched those videos, I've experienced every symptom that these women have talked about.
• 8:36
SPEAKER_03: Nothing says facts like one person's experience shared unlocked.
• 8:40
  SPEAKER_06: Totally.
• 8:41
SPEAKER_06: So yeah, pretty much everything Peter and I do right now, we're like, oh, well, what if it happens right now?
• 8:46
  SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
• 8:48
  SPEAKER_06: Right?
• 8:48
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
• 8:49
SPEAKER_02: I will say I was sharing in your, I guess, like concerns yesterday.
• 8:54
SPEAKER_02: I I did my little bit of research.
• 8:55
SPEAKER_06: Yeah, you did a good job.
• 8:56
SPEAKER_02: And we we did a a physical test and all was fine.
• 9:00
  SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
• 9:00
  SPEAKER_02: But I get it.
• 9:01
  SPEAKER_02: Like it it's scary.
• 9:02
SPEAKER_02: It's a it's a time of like concern because you don't know, like, I've never done this before.
• 9:07
SPEAKER_02: You've never done this before.
• 9:08
  SPEAKER_01: Right.
• 9:08
SPEAKER_02: I I feel like a baby is fragile when really it's not, but there are so many Totally.
• 9:14
SPEAKER_02: I guess like fears wrapped around having a child, having an infant in my life for the first time ever.
• 9:18
SPEAKER_06: And you can't see the baby, you can only feel it.
• 9:20
SPEAKER_06: So if your brain starts doing these somersaults, if the feelings start to feel differently.
• 9:24
SPEAKER_02: But I I was telling you last night, I have the biggest fear.
• 9:29
SPEAKER_02: Like my only fear in having a child is dropping it.
• 9:32
SPEAKER_02: And yet I carry huge weights around the gym all day, every day for a living for the last 20 years, whatever it's been.
• 9:38
  SPEAKER_02: I've never dropped weight.
• 9:40
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 9:40
SPEAKER_02: Actually, I dropped the weight on my toe today.
• 9:42
SPEAKER_03: I did actually do that.
• 9:44
SPEAKER_03: How did I forget about that?
• 9:45
SPEAKER_03: I picked it up, immediately slipped it, dropped it on my toe.
• 9:48
  SPEAKER_03: 45 pounds.
• 9:49
SPEAKER_06: You better get it together.
• 9:51
  SPEAKER_02: Oh man.
• 9:52
SPEAKER_06: I tell him he's not gonna drop the baby.
• 9:54
  SPEAKER_06: Like what?
• 9:55
  SPEAKER_06: It's like it's it's the most like low-hanging fruit of a fear.
• 10:01
SPEAKER_06: And it's because you don't have a lot of history at holding send babies.
• 10:04
  SPEAKER_06: Throw it away.
• 10:05
SPEAKER_02: But I think fear is good.
• 10:06
  SPEAKER_06: Sure.
• 10:07
SPEAKER_02: Like fear is good because it's gonna make sure that you're paying attention.
• 10:10
  SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
• 10:10
  SPEAKER_06: All right.
• 10:11
SPEAKER_06: Well, let's go ahead and dive into some questions since we really could be right around the corner from you becoming an official f father.
• 10:19
  SPEAKER_02: Let's do it.
• 10:19
SPEAKER_06: What moment during this pregnancy made it feel real that we were actually about to be parents?
• 10:24
  SPEAKER_02: You go first.
• 10:26
SPEAKER_06: Well, see, I think that this is different for moms and dads because I think it's been real for me since the beginning.
• 10:32
SPEAKER_06: It's felt real for me since the beginning.
• 10:34
SPEAKER_06: I've said this so much.
• 10:36
SPEAKER_06: Since meeting you and knowing I wanted to marry you, dating you, all of that.
• 10:41
SPEAKER_06: I just like knew you were gonna be a good dad.
• 10:44
SPEAKER_06: And I knew we both talked about wanting kids really early on in our relationship.
• 10:49
SPEAKER_06: So I was just like, Great, sign feel delivered.
• 10:52
SPEAKER_06: So I don't know if there was a moment where I was like, wow, this feels real.
• 10:56
SPEAKER_06: Maybe when we heard her heartbeat for the first time.
• 10:58
SPEAKER_06: But every time we get an ultrasound together, it feels more and more real.
• 11:02
SPEAKER_06: Like when we're in that dark room holding hands and they the woman's telling us about the baby's size and all of that.
• 11:09
  SPEAKER_06: That's such a special moment.
• 11:10
SPEAKER_06: So I would say that.
• 11:12
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I think obviously it's very different for you because she's within your body.
• 11:16
SPEAKER_02: Uh so your experiences are very physical from the start.
• 11:18
SPEAKER_02: We talked about this on one of the previous podcasts with one of yours.
• 11:22
SPEAKER_02: And uh I think it felt real for me for the very first time when the ultrasound went past her body and I saw I think it was like her head or maybe it's her heart for the first time.
• 11:31
  SPEAKER_01: Uh huh.
• 11:31
SPEAKER_02: And I was like, oh my god, there's actually a little baby in there.
• 11:36
  SPEAKER_06: A little peanut.
• 11:37
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
• 11:37
  SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
• 11:38
SPEAKER_02: And at that time it was probably no bigger than a peanut.
• 11:40
SPEAKER_02: It's amazing how far this child has come in such a short period of time.
• 11:44
SPEAKER_02: It feels like a long time.
• 11:45
  SPEAKER_02: I get it.
• 11:46
SPEAKER_02: But the fact that this child is what it is at this very moment in just nine months is still so mind-blowing to me.
• 11:54
SPEAKER_06: I think that's gonna be the rest of our lives.
• 11:55
SPEAKER_06: We're gonna be saying that though.
• 11:57
  SPEAKER_06: Right?
• 11:58
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I guess.
• 11:59
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
• 12:00
SPEAKER_06: Like imagine our kid walking across the graduation stage.
• 12:04
SPEAKER_06: We're gonna be like, Can you believe it's been 18 years?
• 12:07
SPEAKER_06: Feels like eight months, you know?
• 12:09
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
• 12:10
SPEAKER_02: I think I was thinking in a very physical form, but that's also like a a mental and emotional form.
• 12:15
SPEAKER_02: Like this child develops into a a person develops into a adult.
• 12:20
  SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
• 12:22
  SPEAKER_02: Wow.
• 12:23
SPEAKER_02: Well, we have to make that uh an adult.
• 12:25
SPEAKER_02: We have to make an adult.
• 12:28
SPEAKER_02: That is a challenge, folks.
• 12:29
SPEAKER_06: What part of becoming a parent are you most excited about?
• 12:32
  SPEAKER_02: Ooh, just kisses.
• 12:34
  unknown: Really?
• 12:35
SPEAKER_02: I want to give her all the kisses.
• 12:36
SPEAKER_02: It's literally a I just want like that connection with someone that I've never had in life.
• 12:42
  SPEAKER_02: No offense.
• 12:43
SPEAKER_02: But it's like this is What?
• 12:44
  SPEAKER_07: What about me?
• 12:45
SPEAKER_07: What am I, topped liver?
• 12:47
  SPEAKER_02: No, I love you.
• 12:48
SPEAKER_02: You are my partner for life.
• 12:50
SPEAKER_02: But I've never had the uh I I just like guaranteed love of another in my life.
• 12:59
  SPEAKER_06: Except for me.
• 13:00
  SPEAKER_06: Except for me.
• 13:01
  SPEAKER_02: Yes, yes, getting offended.
• 13:03
SPEAKER_02: Sorry, I don't know how else to describe it.
• 13:05
SPEAKER_02: It's the the love of a child that like I guess nothing else could equate to.
• 13:12
SPEAKER_06: A child is always gonna look at you like you are the entire universe.
• 13:15
  SPEAKER_02: The entire universe, right.
• 13:17
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
• 13:18
SPEAKER_06: But you have to know that I see you in a similar way.
• 13:23
SPEAKER_06: No, but like you are my whole world.
• 13:25
SPEAKER_06: Do you not feel that way?
• 13:26
  SPEAKER_06: Yeah, of course.
• 13:27
  SPEAKER_06: Okay.
• 13:28
SPEAKER_02: But it it's just different with a child.
• 13:30
SPEAKER_06: Yes, it is different with a child.
• 13:31
SPEAKER_06: I'm sorry, I'm also hormonal, so like everybody knows me.
• 13:34
  SPEAKER_06: Okay.
• 13:34
  SPEAKER_06: No, no, don't.
• 13:36
  SPEAKER_02: I I totally get it.
• 13:37
SPEAKER_02: There's something about the unconditional love of a child.
• 13:41
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, there is cannot be replicated.
• 13:43
SPEAKER_06: Well, it's also I think it's it's not only the unconditional love of a child, but it's that that thing of like a childlike lens that they look at you through.
• 13:53
SPEAKER_06: And they look at you through this innocent, beautiful, perfect lens.
• 13:58
  SPEAKER_01: Mm-hmm.
• 13:59
SPEAKER_06: And let us not forget that lens expires.
• 14:03
  SPEAKER_05: Wow.
• 14:04
  SPEAKER_05: No, it does.
• 14:05
  SPEAKER_05: That's so true too.
• 14:06
  SPEAKER_06: It's true.
• 14:07
SPEAKER_06: Because every child has a story about how their parents did something wrong.
• 14:11
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 14:11
  SPEAKER_06: Right?
• 14:12
SPEAKER_06: Their parents didn't do this this way, so they're gonna, you know, swing the pendulum and do the opposite.
• 14:16
SPEAKER_06: But that's one thing that actually brings me peace in parenthood is like you could do everything right, you're still gonna do one thing wrong, no matter what.
• 14:23
SPEAKER_06: Every kid is gonna have a story about like, well, my mom did this and I want to do it this way.
• 14:27
SPEAKER_06: So I had, I would say like perfect childhood, like a 10-10 experience.
• 14:33
SPEAKER_06: And I still feel like there's like very little things that I'm like, oh, that's something I want to be aware of because I feel like it could be perfected.
• 14:41
SPEAKER_06: And I'm gonna totally miss the mark on something else because I'm doing that, you know?
• 14:44
SPEAKER_02: Oh, I look at how I parented Daisy.
• 14:47
SPEAKER_02: It's like the only form of parenting I know of.
• 14:49
  SPEAKER_06: Daisy's the dog.
• 14:50
SPEAKER_02: Daisy's my dog who's snoring like a chainsaw at the moment.
• 14:52
  SPEAKER_01: Yes.
• 14:53
SPEAKER_02: And I spoiled the shit out of that dog.
• 14:55
SPEAKER_02: And it's because I showed her so much love.
• 14:58
SPEAKER_02: Is that a bad thing?
• 15:00
SPEAKER_02: Like am I gonna do that to a fault with a child?
• 15:03
SPEAKER_02: But they might see fault in that.
• 15:06
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
• 15:06
SPEAKER_02: Like that that's not my choice.
• 15:07
SPEAKER_02: I can only love in the way that I know, just like every other parent before me did the same.
• 15:11
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 15:12
SPEAKER_02: And then that results in the child that is.
• 15:14
SPEAKER_02: And so I can't control the outcome.
• 15:17
SPEAKER_02: I can only I can only control what I put into it, right?
• 15:20
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 15:21
SPEAKER_02: And so I'm gonna love this child with everything I have and give her everything I can to the best of my ability with no guarantee of what it turns into.
• 15:29
SPEAKER_02: And that's gonna be such a hard acceptance, I think, at the same time.
• 15:32
  SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
• 15:33
  SPEAKER_06: It's true.
• 15:33
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
• 15:34
SPEAKER_06: I think the part that I'm most excited about is being a cheerleader for someone right now because all my cousins have kids and I love cheering on my cousins' kids, but there's something so special about obviously like just hanging up the art of your own child or going to their recital and going to their sporting event.
• 15:52
SPEAKER_06: Like, I'm just so excited to be a support system for a little person.
• 15:57
  SPEAKER_06: It'll be so fun.
• 15:58
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I'm sure you've seen the videos of people that are like framing their kids' drawings on the walls.
• 16:02
  SPEAKER_06: Oh, absolutely.
• 16:03
SPEAKER_02: Rather than like moving it or racing or whatever, they just frame it where it is.
• 16:06
  SPEAKER_02: I think it's so funny.
• 16:07
  SPEAKER_02: So it's like a little kid's height.
• 16:08
SPEAKER_02: It's like a drawing of a horse two feet off the ground.
• 16:11
SPEAKER_02: Oh, like meaning when they draw off the wheel.
• 16:13
SPEAKER_02: They literally just frame the wall.
• 16:15
  SPEAKER_06: Yeah, that's right.
• 16:15
SPEAKER_02: I think it's the funniest, cutest thing.
• 16:17
SPEAKER_06: Let's go back a step and talk about the hospital.
• 16:19
SPEAKER_06: I feel like I'm jumping into parenting questions here.
• 16:21
SPEAKER_06: But is there any part of the process when it comes to giving birth that you're nervous about?
• 16:27
  SPEAKER_06: Because I'm terrified.
• 16:28
  SPEAKER_02: Just just you.
• 16:29
SPEAKER_02: I'm just nervous about you.
• 16:30
  SPEAKER_06: Oh, why?
• 16:32
  SPEAKER_02: Because it it's a major event.
• 16:35
  SPEAKER_02: It's a very traumatic event.
• 16:37
  SPEAKER_01: Could be.
• 16:37
  SPEAKER_02: Uh it could be.
• 16:38
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
• 16:38
SPEAKER_02: Well, I think in any case it is.
• 16:40
SPEAKER_02: Like there's a very large being that leaves your body through a very small space.
• 16:47
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
• 16:48
SPEAKER_02: Like there's a lot that can happen during that time that's very painful.
• 16:52
SPEAKER_02: But also potentially why'd you cover it up?
• 16:54
  SPEAKER_02: Let her out.
• 16:56
SPEAKER_02: But also like potentially very dangerous if things were to go south.
• 16:59
SPEAKER_02: Uh, we made the mistake of just watching a show.
• 17:02
  SPEAKER_00: Oh my god.
• 17:02
SPEAKER_02: A mother died after pregnancy.
• 17:05
SPEAKER_02: I'm not gonna say what show it was.
• 17:06
SPEAKER_02: Oh ruin the show for them.
• 17:07
SPEAKER_06: I talk about the show all the time, but literally after I recorded the last we went and watched an episode of I'm gonna say it, we watched an episode.
• 17:17
SPEAKER_02: Can you say spoiler alert?
• 17:18
  SPEAKER_02: Spoiler alert.
• 17:19
SPEAKER_02: Spoiler alert, don't watch why you don't know what show to watch.
• 17:21
SPEAKER_06: Yeah, how do they even know what I'm spoiling?
• 17:23
  SPEAKER_02: I did it backwards.
• 17:26
  SPEAKER_04: Don't watch a show about this.
• 17:28
SPEAKER_07: It's like Jeopardy, but with spoilers.
• 17:31
SPEAKER_04: What is What is Verissa Cooper dying?
• 17:36
  SPEAKER_06: Oh yeah.
• 17:38
  SPEAKER_06: Who's that?
• 17:39
  SPEAKER_06: She's from the OC.
• 17:40
SPEAKER_06: Oh that was the first death that really ruined my life.
• 17:42
SPEAKER_06: Anyways, what am I talking about?
• 17:45
  SPEAKER_02: Hulu.
• 17:46
SPEAKER_02: The show is called Paradise.
• 17:47
SPEAKER_02: And unfortunately, a woman passes away post-labor in that show.
• 17:52
SPEAKER_02: And it messed me up.
• 17:54
SPEAKER_06: We were both sitting there sobbing.
• 17:56
  SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
• 17:57
  SPEAKER_06: Sobbing.
• 17:57
  SPEAKER_02: Not good.
• 17:58
  SPEAKER_02: Don't watch it.
• 17:58
SPEAKER_02: Also, while your wife's like in a post-apocalyptic situation.
• 18:02
  SPEAKER_07: Totally.
• 18:02
SPEAKER_02: And that's why we're like, we have chosen to do a birth in hospital.
• 18:06
SPEAKER_02: There's like very close to me individuals as well that are choosing not to do it in the hospital.
• 18:11
  SPEAKER_02: And um, I think it's beautiful.
• 18:13
  SPEAKER_02: I think it's amazing.
• 18:14
SPEAKER_02: I think it's so cool that you can uh everyone has a way of how they visualize doing it.
• 18:19
SPEAKER_06: And it's like you gotta just do whatever works for you.
• 18:21
SPEAKER_06: I mean, I don't even know what my plan is when I go in there.
• 18:24
  SPEAKER_06: And everybody's like, What's your plan?
• 18:25
  SPEAKER_06: Are you getting epidural?
• 18:26
  SPEAKER_06: Are you not?
• 18:26
  SPEAKER_06: I'm like, I don't know.
• 18:27
  SPEAKER_06: I don't care.
• 18:28
SPEAKER_06: I'm going in there and I am going to see how I feel and move a Jake from there.
• 18:32
SPEAKER_06: Like, truly not one plan.
• 18:34
SPEAKER_02: So And I'll be there every step of the way.
• 18:36
  SPEAKER_06: Yes.
• 18:37
SPEAKER_02: And I'll do my very best to do everything that I can in that moment.
• 18:39
SPEAKER_02: And you'll be knowing absolutely nothing.
• 18:41
  SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
• 18:41
SPEAKER_06: Uh but I said I don't know anything either.
• 18:43
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
• 18:44
SPEAKER_02: I just like that that is the only thing that makes me nervous is your health throughout the whole process.
• 18:49
  SPEAKER_06: Um, don't be nervous.
• 18:51
  SPEAKER_06: I'll be fine.
• 18:51
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
• 18:51
  SPEAKER_02: Does it?
• 18:52
SPEAKER_06: My friend Ashley gave me the best advice the other day.
• 18:54
SPEAKER_06: She gave birth in January and she was like, just remember, because I am scared.
• 18:58
SPEAKER_06: And she was like, just remember it's the coolest thing you're ever gonna do.
• 19:01
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
• 19:01
SPEAKER_06: I thought that was a good way of looking at it.
• 19:03
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
• 19:04
SPEAKER_02: Do other people have this much fear around the birth itself?
• 19:07
  SPEAKER_06: I don't know.
• 19:08
  SPEAKER_06: I don't know.
• 19:08
SPEAKER_02: I feel like we've both become a little bit more fearful than we had been at any other point during this process.
• 19:14
SPEAKER_06: Yeah, I've definitely become more fearful of it.
• 19:15
SPEAKER_02: But I just the show.
• 19:17
  SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
• 19:18
  SPEAKER_06: A freaking show.
• 19:20
SPEAKER_06: We've had a lot of major events going on, and we finally had time to soak this in.
• 19:26
SPEAKER_06: We got married and moved and moved again.
• 19:29
  SPEAKER_06: And I don't know.
• 19:30
SPEAKER_06: I wonder if it's just maybe that's your song before something big that makes us sort of get nervous.
• 19:37
SPEAKER_06: I have to tell myself though, any time in life where I've been slightly nervous, it's been for like a beautiful reason.
• 19:43
  SPEAKER_06: Right?
• 19:44
  SPEAKER_06: I don't typically get nervous when something's bad.
• 19:46
SPEAKER_06: I think nervous energy creates like good, beautiful moments in your life.
• 19:51
  SPEAKER_02: You know?
• 19:52
  SPEAKER_02: Mm-hmm.
• 19:53
SPEAKER_02: The most nervous I've ever been is usually on like the front side of one most amazing accomplishments.
• 19:58
  SPEAKER_06: Totally.
• 19:58
  SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
• 19:59
SPEAKER_06: So we need to remember that mentality.
• 20:01
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
• 20:01
SPEAKER_02: And then you get the crazy shakes of like euphoria afterwards of like, oh my god, like all the stress.
• 20:05
SPEAKER_02: It's like just getting don't get any idea.
• 20:08
SPEAKER_02: I keep saying Daisy all the time, whatever.
• 20:10
SPEAKER_02: But watching Daisy like shake off a stressful experience, it's literally what it feels like.
• 20:14
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
• 20:14
SPEAKER_02: Like all this like nervous energy just leaves your body, and that's why it's good to actually like let it out.
• 20:18
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 20:18
SPEAKER_02: That's it's it's gonna be a very joyous and euphoric moment when that baby's out and everybody's safe and healthy.
• 20:25
  SPEAKER_06: Totally.
• 20:25
SPEAKER_02: We now have three people in this world in our family.
• 20:28
  SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
• 20:29
SPEAKER_06: I did hear though that like my friends were telling me that painful experiences sometimes after birth.
• 20:34
  SPEAKER_01: Oh.
• 20:35
  SPEAKER_06: Yeah, I know.
• 20:35
  SPEAKER_06: I don't I can't even get into it.
• 20:37
  SPEAKER_06: I'm just like, whatever.
• 20:38
  SPEAKER_01: That's what's that?
• 20:39
  SPEAKER_06: I I I I I don't even remember what it was.
• 20:43
  SPEAKER_06: Like, I don't remember.
• 20:44
SPEAKER_06: It's like your placenta, there's mucus plugs, there are like there's a lot that has to come out of there.
• 20:51
  SPEAKER_02: Oh.
• 20:52
SPEAKER_06: And then I could just like rip in half too.
• 20:55
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that's the one of the biggest things that scares me.
• 20:57
SPEAKER_02: That's I can't imagine the amount of pain that would be.
• 21:00
SPEAKER_02: But at the same time, I know that it has happened to someone else an infinite amount of times in history.
• 21:05
SPEAKER_02: And everyone has been fine.
• 21:07
SPEAKER_02: You you get through it and you survive, and it's okay.
• 21:09
SPEAKER_06: I'm really looking forward to that morning after birth, though.
• 21:12
SPEAKER_06: Like just the first morning where we can have a coffee and just quietly hold our baby and talk about that experience and just be together.
• 21:24
  SPEAKER_06: I don't know.
• 21:25
SPEAKER_06: I people say you have no interest in food.
• 21:28
  SPEAKER_02: I don't think I would.
• 21:29
SPEAKER_06: That seems strange to me.
• 21:31
SPEAKER_06: I could imagine wanting like a large, delicious bagel immediately.
• 21:35
  SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah, carbs.
• 21:36
SPEAKER_02: You'll want to replenish some energy.
• 21:37
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
• 21:38
  SPEAKER_02: That makes sense.
• 21:38
SPEAKER_02: I would think like a literally like a protein shake.
• 21:41
SPEAKER_02: Something super easy to that sounds so gross.
• 21:44
SPEAKER_06: Like think about after running a marathon.
• 21:46
SPEAKER_06: Think about after the Iron Man.
• 21:47
  SPEAKER_06: Like a protein shake.
• 21:49
SPEAKER_02: A good one, though, like a fresh smoothie with protein in it.
• 21:52
  SPEAKER_02: That'd be great.
• 21:53
  SPEAKER_06: Sure.
• 21:55
  SPEAKER_02: Or not.
• 21:55
  SPEAKER_06: I don't know.
• 21:56
  SPEAKER_05: Bagel it is?
• 21:57
  SPEAKER_05: All right.
• 21:58
SPEAKER_05: Cream cheese on the bagel.
• 22:00
SPEAKER_05: Like, what do you want on there?
• 22:01
  SPEAKER_06: I'm like, I want a McDonald's hash, bro.
• 22:02
  SPEAKER_06: Done.
• 22:03
  SPEAKER_02: Oh, that sounds good.
• 22:04
SPEAKER_02: I would be down for that.
• 22:05
  SPEAKER_02: That always makes sense.
• 22:06
SPEAKER_02: Honestly, just like a coffee.
• 22:07
SPEAKER_02: What am I talking about?
• 22:08
SPEAKER_02: I'm just sitting there watching.
• 22:11
SPEAKER_02: A coffee the next day would be great.
• 22:12
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
• 22:13
SPEAKER_02: Like, let your body reset a bit.
• 22:15
  SPEAKER_02: And yeah.
• 22:17
SPEAKER_06: I told Peter, I need coach Peter.
• 22:19
SPEAKER_06: Like, I need you to put on your PK fit hat and I need you to like train me, like physically train me in this birth, help me to breathe and all of that.
• 22:28
SPEAKER_06: I can't have any emotional talk while I'm in pain because like I'll want everyone to shut up.
• 22:37
  SPEAKER_06: You know?
• 22:38
SPEAKER_06: Like when you're in pain and people are like, it's okay.
• 22:41
SPEAKER_06: Or like, do you know what I mean?
• 22:44
  SPEAKER_06: It doesn't help.
• 22:44
  SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
• 22:46
SPEAKER_06: So you'll have to do your best coaching experience.
• 22:51
SPEAKER_02: Like push from your butt, not from your chest.
• 22:54
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
• 22:55
  SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
• 22:55
  SPEAKER_02: All right.
• 22:56
  SPEAKER_06: I'll need detail coaching.
• 22:58
  SPEAKER_02: Okay.
• 22:59
  SPEAKER_02: I'll do my best.
• 23:00
  SPEAKER_02: It's been interesting.
• 23:01
SPEAKER_02: Some of the things we've read about some more questions.
• 23:03
  SPEAKER_06: People have to.
• 23:04
SPEAKER_02: Oh god, what was it?
• 23:05
SPEAKER_02: It was like gripping and breathing.
• 23:08
SPEAKER_02: Like the two variations of grip and breath that can help with relaxing your muscles and engaging the right muscles to then push the baby out with more ease.
• 23:18
SPEAKER_02: So like you don't want to squeeze tight, you actually want to push in.
• 23:21
SPEAKER_02: That's going to help you to drive the baby out.
• 23:23
SPEAKER_02: Is there a way to practice that before?
• 23:27
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, imagine like your muscles follow patterns.
• 23:30
SPEAKER_02: And so if like you're always really tight and breathing really here, all of your muscles become tight.
• 23:35
SPEAKER_02: Versus if you relax, try like breathe very like open mouth, a deep breath, like yoga breath, it will help to relax your uh I would assume vaginal muscles at the same time.
• 23:46
SPEAKER_02: And just like squeezing if you're squeezing really tight here versus like pushing into something.
• 23:50
  SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
• 23:50
SPEAKER_02: Like I should just give you a brace to push against.
• 23:53
  SPEAKER_06: Oh, okay.
• 23:53
SPEAKER_02: That'll help you to create more force.
• 23:54
SPEAKER_06: Maybe I push against you.
• 23:57
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you're pushing against me.
• 23:58
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
• 23:58
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
• 23:59
SPEAKER_02: Um it's a workout for both of us.
• 24:02
SPEAKER_06: One of Peter's workout classes that we didn't even go to last week.
• 24:05
  SPEAKER_06: I've been so tired.
• 24:06
SPEAKER_06: I'm like, I've barely been working out.
• 24:08
SPEAKER_06: But when I was, there's this part of the workout class that's um, what's it called again?
• 24:13
  SPEAKER_06: The ski erg.
• 24:14
  SPEAKER_06: Ski erg, yeah.
• 24:14
  SPEAKER_06: The ski erg.
• 24:15
SPEAKER_06: We've had to do like four minutes straight of the ski erg, and I've really enjoyed it because I will close my eyes and breathe like I'm in labor and practice like I'm in labor.
• 24:25
SPEAKER_06: And I go to another dimension, and I actually think I could do the ski erg for like 10 minutes when I'm in that mode.
• 24:32
  SPEAKER_06: Wow.
• 24:32
  SPEAKER_06: Like I'm just going.
• 24:34
SPEAKER_06: So if I could do that, it's the opposite.
• 24:38
  SPEAKER_03: I'm the no, I'm the opposite.
• 24:40
SPEAKER_05: I'm on there like get me off this thing.
• 24:41
SPEAKER_05: Immediately my triceps hurt so bad.
• 24:44
SPEAKER_06: I just go into it thinking it won't be all day.
• 24:48
SPEAKER_06: And I think that's gonna help me is is like zooming out constantly.
• 24:52
SPEAKER_06: So I'm giving birth in a room where millions of people have done this.
• 24:57
  SPEAKER_06: So already I'm irrelevant.
• 24:59
SPEAKER_06: And then number two, this is I don't know what point I'll be in that day, but this is, you know, 10 hours of my day, 10 minutes of my day, whatever it is.
• 25:07
SPEAKER_06: Even if it's 24 hours, this is 24 hours of my life.
• 25:11
SPEAKER_06: Like zoom out and look at how irrelevant that is.
• 25:14
SPEAKER_06: And so that'll help me remember that this is just a moment I have to like push through and that's it.
• 25:21
SPEAKER_06: I don't know why that helps me in my mind.
• 25:24
SPEAKER_06: Like when I look at it from an eagle eye perspective, I'm like, oh, okay, this is just a blip on the radar of my life.
• 25:30
SPEAKER_06: The worse I feel about this, the slower it's gonna go.
• 25:34
SPEAKER_06: So yeah, accept that it's like it's gonna suck.
• 25:39
  SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
• 25:39
  SPEAKER_02: It's gonna hurt.
• 25:41
SPEAKER_02: It's gonna be a lot of pain, but the pain is momentary in the greater scheme of things.
• 25:46
SPEAKER_02: Even like a 12-hour birth, uh fucking awful.
• 25:48
  SPEAKER_02: Don't get me wrong.
• 25:49
  SPEAKER_02: Like it's terrible.
• 25:50
SPEAKER_06: I don't even know if 12 hours is bad anymore.
• 25:51
SPEAKER_06: I think 12 hours is kind of bad.
• 25:53
  SPEAKER_06: I have no idea.
• 25:53
  SPEAKER_02: No clue.
• 25:54
SPEAKER_06: I just can't wait to see her face.
• 25:55
SPEAKER_06: So funny enough, every time we go to the ultrasound, this girl is hiding her face.
• 26:00
SPEAKER_06: And it's because I have an anterior placenta, my placenta's on the outside of my stomach.
• 26:04
SPEAKER_01: So like No, it's not.
• 26:05
  SPEAKER_01: Sorry.
• 26:07
  SPEAKER_01: Definitely not.
• 26:10
SPEAKER_03: It's on the front of your abdominal wall.
• 26:15
SPEAKER_07: Oh, I just got the.
• 26:16
  SPEAKER_03: Oh my god.
• 26:18
SPEAKER_07: My interior placenta is taking it out.
• 26:21
SPEAKER_06: Um, anyways, she is very cozy and snug in there.
• 26:28
SPEAKER_06: And she always has her hands covering her face.
• 26:30
SPEAKER_06: So I'm actually really anxious to see her face.
• 26:32
  SPEAKER_06: Totally.
• 26:33
  SPEAKER_02: I think it's perfect.
• 26:34
  SPEAKER_06: Yeah, it is.
• 26:35
SPEAKER_02: You've been wanting to get in all the videos, and the whole time is like, I don't want any more videos.
• 26:39
  SPEAKER_02: I don't want to see it.
• 26:40
SPEAKER_02: I'm gonna be there to support you.
• 26:41
SPEAKER_02: I want to see her face.
• 26:42
SPEAKER_06: Oh, you mean the ultrasound photos?
• 26:44
  SPEAKER_06: Yeah, totally.
• 26:45
  SPEAKER_06: Oh, I all I want are those x-rays.
• 26:47
  SPEAKER_02: Totally.
• 26:47
SPEAKER_02: And I'm like, no, wait for the day.
• 26:49
SPEAKER_02: And it's been the perfect mix of both.
• 26:51
SPEAKER_02: Like she gets those little sneaks of her nose or her lips, which is so cute.
• 26:55
SPEAKER_06: We like puzzle piece the images together to try to see her full face because we really can't see it.
• 26:59
SPEAKER_03: Or they really try and get a good picture instead.
• 27:00
SPEAKER_03: She just looks terrifying and eyeballs missing.
• 27:03
SPEAKER_03: There's like a hole in her skull.
• 27:05
  SPEAKER_03: It's like, good God.
• 27:06
  SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
• 27:07
  SPEAKER_03: Scary.
• 27:07
  SPEAKER_03: Oh, she's perfect.
• 27:08
SPEAKER_03: And she they take a picture, like, here you go.
• 27:10
SPEAKER_06: Yeah, here's what you can enjoy.
• 27:12
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
• 27:14
SPEAKER_02: We're gonna see all of it the day she's born, and she's gonna be perfect.
• 27:18
SPEAKER_06: Okay, someone asked, what helped you decide that you were ready for children?
• 27:22
  SPEAKER_06: Life, baby.
• 27:23
  SPEAKER_02: What made us decide?
• 27:24
  SPEAKER_02: We didn't decide.
• 27:24
  SPEAKER_02: It didn't happen.
• 27:26
  SPEAKER_06: God said now.
• 27:28
SPEAKER_02: I think in choosing you're my person, we decided that children were what we wanted with each other.
• 27:33
  SPEAKER_06: What was my joke?
• 27:34
SPEAKER_06: I said this joke so many times.
• 27:36
SPEAKER_06: Oh, it was that we got engaged and then God said, Hold my beer.
• 27:39
SPEAKER_06: Because I think that we both always wanted kids.
• 27:42
SPEAKER_06: And it was just like we didn't know the timing, you know?
• 27:45
SPEAKER_05: Oh man, you and your joke.
• 27:47
SPEAKER_06: It's the same ones forever and ever.
• 27:49
SPEAKER_02: People talk about dad jokes when you start calling Hannah jokes.
• 27:54
  SPEAKER_06: I'm honored.
• 27:55
  SPEAKER_02: Oh man.
• 27:56
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
• 27:57
SPEAKER_02: We both knew we wanted kids together.
• 27:59
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
• 28:00
SPEAKER_02: They'd be such cute little babies.
• 28:01
SPEAKER_06: So I think deciding was just us deciding on our partnership in general and knowing that that was going to come whenever God allowed.
• 28:10
SPEAKER_02: It is still mind-blowing to think.
• 28:12
SPEAKER_02: I I knew for weeks the exact months, really, the exact day and time I was gonna ask you to marry me.
• 28:18
SPEAKER_02: And I had to make all these things aligned for that day to happen the way that I want it to, in the way that it ended up being, which was literally perfect.
• 28:27
SPEAKER_02: Like I can't even imagine a more perfect day.
• 28:30
SPEAKER_02: But I n I knew in my heart that the order you would want would definitely be engagement before baby.
• 28:38
SPEAKER_02: Uh just because you want security in that relationship, and that would be the sign of that, right?
• 28:44
SPEAKER_02: And we got engaged and then literally found out.
• 28:46
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 28:47
SPEAKER_02: It was like it was all perfectly timed, like taken completely out of our control.
• 28:53
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
• 28:54
SPEAKER_02: And yet aligned perfectly with your values and your your hopes and dreams and all that stuff.
• 28:59
  SPEAKER_02: It's crazy.
• 29:00
SPEAKER_06: It is it is crazy.
• 29:01
SPEAKER_06: I always used to pray that I wanted a really good story, like in meeting my partner.
• 29:05
SPEAKER_06: I would be like, God, I don't want to meet him on the apps.
• 29:08
  SPEAKER_06: I just want a good story.
• 29:10
SPEAKER_06: Like I want to tell a funny story to my grandkids and like all of that for years to come.
• 29:15
SPEAKER_06: And so when I met Peter on Raya, I remember thinking like, oh God, this isn't really like Totally.
• 29:21
  SPEAKER_02: It wasn't a meat cute.
• 29:22
  SPEAKER_06: It wasn't, yeah.
• 29:23
SPEAKER_06: It's not one of those stories you like, you know, you tell for generations or whatever.
• 29:27
SPEAKER_02: Um I try to be cool, but I meet cute.
• 29:29
  SPEAKER_02: People stop saying that.
• 29:31
  SPEAKER_06: No, yeah.
• 29:32
  SPEAKER_05: Okay, good.
• 29:33
  SPEAKER_06: I say meat cute.
• 29:34
SPEAKER_05: No longer cute or cool by asking, but whatever.
• 29:36
SPEAKER_06: Um, but it's so funny, God gave me a story inevitably in another way.
• 29:42
  SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
• 29:42
  SPEAKER_01: So Yeah.
• 29:43
  SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
• 29:44
  SPEAKER_06: Um, okay.
• 29:45
  SPEAKER_06: Another question.
• 29:46
SPEAKER_06: What did your parents do that you want to copy with your kids?
• 29:49
SPEAKER_06: And while you answer this, I'm going to grab a sparkling water.
• 29:52
  SPEAKER_06: Would you like one?
• 29:53
  SPEAKER_02: I don't think you're going to pee.
• 29:54
  SPEAKER_06: No.
• 29:56
SPEAKER_02: Uh what did my parents do that I want to replicate the support to be anything that we wanted to be?
• 30:04
SPEAKER_02: I think uh my parents never once stepped in the way of what we wanted to become.
• 30:08
SPEAKER_02: They just made sure that whatever we chose, we had put all of our efforts into it, which I think is the most incredible parenting one could ask for.
• 30:16
SPEAKER_06: Can you give me an example?
• 30:17
  SPEAKER_02: Don't stifle one's hopes and dreams.
• 30:20
SPEAKER_02: Just make sure that they're gonna do it.
• 30:21
SPEAKER_02: They give it everything they got.
• 30:22
  SPEAKER_01: Oh, sure.
• 30:23
SPEAKER_02: So like they didn't say you had to go to this or do that, but I remember a conversation with my dad being just like if this is what you want to do, like do it.
• 30:32
SPEAKER_02: You you gotta put everything you got into it.
• 30:34
SPEAKER_02: Uh my brother I know had a very similar conversation.
• 30:37
SPEAKER_02: And it's still up to the kid to take from that conversation what you like do, I guess.
• 30:43
SPEAKER_02: But my take from it was like, well, if that's the case, I can truly be whatever I want to be.
• 30:48
SPEAKER_02: So I was just always an entrepreneur.
• 30:50
  SPEAKER_02: I don't even know if that's what I would call it.
• 30:51
  SPEAKER_02: I was just a free spirit.
• 30:53
SPEAKER_02: I was like, I'd try modeling, I'd try training, I'd tried acting, I even tried football very briefly.
• 30:59
SPEAKER_02: I always tried these things that always interested me.
• 31:01
SPEAKER_02: And I put everything I had into them until I failed.
• 31:04
SPEAKER_02: And then I decided upon failure if it was worth getting back up and trying again or if I went somewhere else.
• 31:09
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 31:09
SPEAKER_02: And my parents were always there to support me every single step of that way.
• 31:13
SPEAKER_02: And when the failures became like hitting rock bottoms, they were there to pick me up.
• 31:17
SPEAKER_02: They gave me a place to stay multiple times.
• 31:19
SPEAKER_02: I've stayed back with my parents again at different points.
• 31:21
SPEAKER_02: My dad helped me out financially twice in life to get back up off my feet.
• 31:26
SPEAKER_02: And they always were there to love and support me no matter what.
• 31:30
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 31:30
SPEAKER_02: And I will do that for my child without question.
• 31:33
  SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
• 31:34
SPEAKER_06: That was a good answer.
• 31:35
  SPEAKER_02: Thanks.
• 31:36
SPEAKER_06: I will say, oh God, I feel like my parents did so many things right.
• 31:40
SPEAKER_06: Um I mean, look at me.
• 31:42
  SPEAKER_06: Perfect.
• 31:47
  SPEAKER_06: Okay.
• 31:48
SPEAKER_06: He walked away while I'm answering those questions.
• 31:50
SPEAKER_06: My parents did a really good job of similarly to Peter's parents, always supporting me no matter what.
• 31:56
SPEAKER_06: I didn't know I was like bad at sports until I was about 20 years old.
• 32:01
SPEAKER_06: They always told me I was really bad at sports.
• 32:05
SPEAKER_06: Hey, I'm good at like running and stuff, you know?
• 32:11
SPEAKER_06: But yeah, I just like don't care.
• 32:13
SPEAKER_06: Would I would play volleyball or softball and stuff, and I'd be like outside doing something else.
• 32:19
  SPEAKER_06: I just didn't I I didn't care enough.
• 32:21
SPEAKER_06: But my parents always were like good job parents.
• 32:23
SPEAKER_06: And anything I wanted to do, they fully supported me doing it.
• 32:26
SPEAKER_06: So yeah, I I'm dragged them to like choir practices, acting practices, like all of these things that Peter had experiences of doing too, because my parents were never like, no, you can't do that.
• 32:36
SPEAKER_06: They always just let me try everything, which was great.
• 32:39
SPEAKER_06: My mom did a really good job of making everything fun too.
• 32:45
SPEAKER_06: And that's something I'm excited to do with my kids.
• 32:48
SPEAKER_06: But my mom was a freelancer when I was a kid, so she was able to be home and she worked as an artist.
• 32:54
SPEAKER_06: So I just remember doing so many art projects and fun.
• 32:57
SPEAKER_06: We were just always outside playing with chalk and doing fun activities that she would put together for us.
• 33:03
SPEAKER_06: And I'm excited to replicate that too.
• 33:06
SPEAKER_06: My parents also were really big on road trips.
• 33:08
SPEAKER_06: Like we didn't have a huge budget for vacations.
• 33:11
SPEAKER_06: We rarely we rarely went on like a vacation ever.
• 33:15
SPEAKER_06: I don't ever remember our family taking big trips to go anywhere, but we would always take a drive somewhere nearby and just get away for a night or two, whether that was camping or um we would drive to Buffalo every year, which was really far drive from Florida.
• 33:30
SPEAKER_06: That was like our first chance at exploring seasons, and my parents would have so much fun at stopping at all these random places along the way.
• 33:36
SPEAKER_06: So I would just say like doing the best with what you can to the point where the child has no idea.
• 33:41
SPEAKER_06: Like there were so many times where I didn't realize that my parents were just like getting by and they did such a good job.
• 33:48
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
• 33:50
SPEAKER_02: One thing that's kind of interesting about where the uh how do I say this?
• 33:54
SPEAKER_02: Like the housing market is right now, because that's something that's very important in our life right now, is like thinking about buying a house and not thinking about we're going to.
• 34:01
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
• 34:01
SPEAKER_02: And seeing how difficult it is to get into the market right now.
• 34:04
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 34:05
SPEAKER_02: And then giving my parents so much more like appreciation and credit for what they did at the ages that they were at.
• 34:11
SPEAKER_02: At a very like my parents were 20 and 21 when they I think uh got married.
• 34:16
SPEAKER_02: And then by the time they had me, they were like 26, 27, maybe, uh, if even that.
• 34:23
SPEAKER_02: And they bought their first house like two, three years after that.
• 34:26
SPEAKER_02: And so getting into the market at that point in life had been so challenging.
• 34:30
SPEAKER_02: And they did what they could, got what they could to develop the life that they wanted, and then slowly built it as a family, then over time.
• 34:37
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 34:38
SPEAKER_02: And yet we put so much stress on like we need this to be the perfect house.
• 34:41
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
• 34:41
SPEAKER_02: The perfect place with the perfect yard.
• 34:43
SPEAKER_02: And the truth is, like, you you don't remember that.
• 34:45
SPEAKER_02: Like, I didn't realize how small our house was until years later when I went back to check it out and thought to myself, we had like our entire lives in that house.
• 34:54
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
• 34:54
  SPEAKER_02: We didn't need anything.
• 34:55
  SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
• 34:56
SPEAKER_06: Like Peter and I are looking for a house with like a big yard right now.
• 34:58
SPEAKER_06: And then we both think back to the first house that we remember.
• 35:01
  SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
• 35:02
SPEAKER_06: And we're like, oh, the yard was like not that big for both of us.
• 35:04
SPEAKER_06: And it just seemed so magical and large.
• 35:07
SPEAKER_02: What I remember is like the neighborhood.
• 35:09
  SPEAKER_02: Right.
• 35:09
  SPEAKER_02: Or my room.
• 35:10
SPEAKER_02: I remember like all the things I did in my room and then the neighborhood.
• 35:13
SPEAKER_02: I was out in the neighborhood all the time.
• 35:14
  SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
• 35:15
SPEAKER_02: So everything in between just didn't matter.
• 35:18
SPEAKER_06: Are there any childhood traditions you want to pass down?
• 35:21
SPEAKER_06: This is so silly, but one of the first things that comes to mind is the fact that my family went to Disney all the time.
• 35:25
  SPEAKER_06: I was a Florida kid.
• 35:26
  SPEAKER_06: I can't help it.
• 35:28
SPEAKER_06: We would go to my dad had the annual passes.
• 35:30
  SPEAKER_06: I'm not like a Disney adult, trust me, I don't care.
• 35:33
SPEAKER_06: But I do want to go to Disney with my child.
• 35:36
SPEAKER_06: There's like a part of my Floridian childhood experience that I feel like it would just come full circle for me.
• 35:43
SPEAKER_06: It would be so fun to relive those experiences through the lens of my own daughter.
• 35:48
SPEAKER_02: So I just think someone who just did a video, TikTok, where it was.
• 35:51
  SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
• 35:52
SPEAKER_02: Saying like the cost of a European vacation for like eight people versus four people at Disney.
• 35:56
SPEAKER_02: And it was more expensive.
• 35:58
  SPEAKER_06: Oh, it's so expensive.
• 35:59
  SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
• 35:59
SPEAKER_06: But you know what's funny is my parents did it in the cheapest way or the cheapest possible way.
• 36:04
SPEAKER_06: And now there all are alternatives because there's public transportation to get from South Florida to Orlando.
• 36:10
SPEAKER_06: But my parents would drive up at six in the morning, and my favorite this truly is one of the most magical moments of my childhood is my parents would do this thing where it would be like a Tuesday or Wednesday, and they would act like they were driving us to school together, which we already knew.
• 36:25
SPEAKER_06: Like our antennas were already up because my dad never drove us to school.
• 36:29
SPEAKER_06: He was always going to work.
• 36:31
SPEAKER_06: But they'd be in the car together and they would pull over to pray, which was really cute before the long drive.
• 36:38
SPEAKER_06: It was like two, three hours from Jupiter to Orlando.
• 36:41
SPEAKER_05: And um I was like, the prayer?
• 36:45
  SPEAKER_06: No.
• 36:46
SPEAKER_06: No, it's two, three hour drive.
• 36:48
SPEAKER_06: And um they would say, you know, like, watch over us on our trip to Disney World or something like that.
• 36:55
SPEAKER_06: And we would all lose it.
• 36:56
SPEAKER_06: And they'd be like, okay, now shut up, go to sleep.
• 36:58
  SPEAKER_06: It's 5 a.m.
• 36:59
  SPEAKER_06: Go to bed.
• 37:00
SPEAKER_06: And we would get to the park like right before it opened, and we'd go and we'd be there all day.
• 37:05
SPEAKER_06: And then I think we would leave around like four or five o'clock at the latest.
• 37:09
SPEAKER_02: You know what this tells me?
• 37:10
SPEAKER_02: Parents are just always tired.
• 37:12
  SPEAKER_02: So tired.
• 37:14
  SPEAKER_05: So tired.
• 37:14
SPEAKER_05: Kids are just sleeping in the back, like, oh my God, we woke up at Disney World.
• 37:17
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 37:18
  SPEAKER_05: Go to Disney World.
• 37:18
SPEAKER_05: Get back in the car.
• 37:19
  SPEAKER_05: Go to sleep.
• 37:20
SPEAKER_05: Oh my God, we woke up at home.
• 37:21
  SPEAKER_05: This is so great.
• 37:22
SPEAKER_05: And your parents are like, ugh.
• 37:25
SPEAKER_05: I love you so much.
• 37:27
SPEAKER_06: But they did that because A, it was like they did that because A, there was less traffic and it was less busy in the middle of the week.
• 37:34
SPEAKER_06: Um, but B, it was part of the surprise element of having kids.
• 37:37
SPEAKER_06: So for that reason, I'm I'm excited to implement that same surprise to our kids.
• 37:44
SPEAKER_02: We better be in Florida for these surprises.
• 37:46
SPEAKER_06: Oh, yeah, we're not driving there.
• 37:48
SPEAKER_02: Surprise, we're driving to Florida from Wisconsin.
• 37:52
  SPEAKER_02: Oh man.
• 37:53
SPEAKER_02: Uh while you're saying that my thought was family dinners with no TV.
• 37:58
  SPEAKER_02: Yes.
• 37:59
SPEAKER_02: That brought it down and it's a good one.
• 38:01
  SPEAKER_06: No, it's a good one.
• 38:02
SPEAKER_02: I think it's so important to have that uh constant connection.
• 38:06
SPEAKER_02: And like if it has to be forced, it has to be forced.
• 38:09
SPEAKER_02: But eventually, like good things come out of it.
• 38:11
  SPEAKER_06: Dinner table time.
• 38:12
SPEAKER_02: Not every time, like kids are gonna be upset that they have to put down their phones and all that stuff, but at some point, like you're gonna have a good conversation, or you're gonna find something out that you didn't know was there.
• 38:20
SPEAKER_02: And it's good to have those conversations with your family.
• 38:23
  SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
• 38:24
SPEAKER_02: I mean, you're there to help and support each other in every way you can.
• 38:27
SPEAKER_02: So those conversations are had over dinner.
• 38:30
SPEAKER_02: Like sharing a meal is the most sacred.
• 38:34
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
• 38:34
  SPEAKER_02: Really?
• 38:35
  SPEAKER_02: Emotionally vulnerable moment.
• 38:37
  SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
• 38:38
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
• 38:39
SPEAKER_06: I think I do have a so many memories of having dinner with my family around the table.
• 38:44
SPEAKER_06: So that's something I would definitely like to implement as well.
• 38:46
  SPEAKER_06: It's a good point.
• 38:47
SPEAKER_06: Now there are going to be days where I'm like, oh my God, I wish we could put a booty on because these kids are doing amazing.
• 38:51
SPEAKER_02: Oh, it's and also like how fun is it to sit with one of those movie trays and watch a movie as a family.
• 38:55
  SPEAKER_02: That's great.
• 38:56
SPEAKER_06: But that's something we can do too.
• 38:57
  SPEAKER_06: That's a fun tradition.
• 38:58
  SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
• 38:59
  SPEAKER_06: Just not every night.
• 39:00
SPEAKER_02: My I mean, there'll be hard times.
• 39:02
  SPEAKER_02: Excuse me.
• 39:11
SPEAKER_05: This is what Welcome to our sweet moments.
• 39:15
SPEAKER_07: I was just telling Carly this on the phone.
• 39:17
SPEAKER_05: I can hear her replicate that noise.
• 39:19
  SPEAKER_07: Sorry.
• 39:20
  SPEAKER_07: So sorry, you guys.
• 39:22
SPEAKER_07: I am I am about to bop.
• 39:24
  SPEAKER_07: Okay.
• 39:24
SPEAKER_07: You have to keep that.
• 39:25
SPEAKER_06: I I was just telling one of my best friends, Carly, on the phone today.
• 39:29
SPEAKER_06: I was like, I'm making noises and I swear to God, they're not me.
• 39:32
SPEAKER_06: Like it's not from me.
• 39:33
  SPEAKER_06: I didn't even feel that coming.
• 39:35
  SPEAKER_05: Totally.
• 39:37
SPEAKER_07: People doesn't believe me, you guys.
• 39:39
SPEAKER_07: But I swear, like I sometimes I will have these bottling.
• 39:43
  SPEAKER_05: Like share in process.
• 39:46
  SPEAKER_07: What do you mean?
• 39:47
  SPEAKER_04: Oh man.
• 39:48
SPEAKER_07: What am I supposed to share?
• 39:49
SPEAKER_04: Well, you ate a bubbly beverage or bubbly beverage.
• 39:52
SPEAKER_03: That's a tough one to say twice.
• 39:54
SPEAKER_03: But I'm also And you're nine months pregnant.
• 39:56
  SPEAKER_03: I get it, yeah.
• 39:57
SPEAKER_06: But really, like I feel like even having a bubbly beverage, I could tell when I'm about to release a bubble.
• 40:03
SPEAKER_05: Oh, so there's just no control at this point.
• 40:05
SPEAKER_06: No, it feels like zero control.
• 40:08
  SPEAKER_06: Anyways, Lord Oh man.
• 40:11
  SPEAKER_05: Good times.
• 40:14
SPEAKER_06: Uh is there anything that your parents taught you that you still use today?
• 40:20
SPEAKER_02: The very first thing that went to my head was kindness.
• 40:23
  SPEAKER_06: Oh, yeah.
• 40:24
SPEAKER_02: It's like I've never once seen my parents be mean to anyone they uh didn't know.
• 40:31
SPEAKER_02: Like I'd not say I've ever never seen them being mean to anybody, really.
• 40:34
  SPEAKER_02: That's what's wild about it.
• 40:36
SPEAKER_02: But they've never like judged anybody or put anybody down before ever giving them the chance.
• 40:42
SPEAKER_02: Which not to make it about myself was really hard, like coming off the batch with all the the hate that was put upon me for who I supposedly was.
• 40:52
  unknown: Right.
• 40:53
  SPEAKER_02: Like, I don't hate anybody.
• 40:55
  SPEAKER_02: Anyways, I digress.
• 40:57
SPEAKER_06: So your parents taught you to be kind.
• 40:59
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, they're just kind to everybody.
• 41:00
  SPEAKER_02: They really are.
• 41:01
  SPEAKER_06: They are.
• 41:01
SPEAKER_06: They're really nice to everyone.
• 41:02
  SPEAKER_06: That's very true.
• 41:03
SPEAKER_02: My mom, all of my life, was known as like the cool mom.
• 41:07
SPEAKER_02: Everybody wanted to come over to our house.
• 41:08
SPEAKER_02: She liked hooked us up with food.
• 41:10
SPEAKER_02: Everybody was obsessed with her.
• 41:12
SPEAKER_02: What do we call it?
• 41:13
SPEAKER_02: It's like this unique lasagna recipe that she made.
• 41:15
SPEAKER_02: Truly, like they've always been kind to everybody.
• 41:17
SPEAKER_02: My mom always had like so funny, your mom had the true open door policy.
• 41:21
SPEAKER_02: Ours was that without even realizing it.
• 41:24
  SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
• 41:25
SPEAKER_02: Oh, well, there you go.
• 41:26
SPEAKER_06: I was gonna say that's my answer too, is that my parents always had an open door policy with my house.
• 41:33
SPEAKER_06: So, like our house, it was like anyone could come over.
• 41:36
SPEAKER_06: And it that grew until we were teenagers.
• 41:39
SPEAKER_06: If we were gonna go to a friend's house, she'd be like, You guys should just come here.
• 41:42
SPEAKER_06: And my mom just like preferred it.
• 41:44
SPEAKER_06: And so everybody would come over to our house.
• 41:47
SPEAKER_06: But even when I was little, our grandparents, like my Ukrainian grandparents, lived with us growing up.
• 41:53
SPEAKER_06: Um, because my parents needed to help them and that type of thing, where our house was sort of like a rotating, revolving door.
• 42:01
SPEAKER_06: I feel like there's a lot of people who have lived in our house or who have seen our house as a home for them at some point of their lives.
• 42:09
SPEAKER_06: And that's something that my brothers and I still do.
• 42:12
SPEAKER_06: Like when we are home, uh my brother Luke just did it.
• 42:15
SPEAKER_06: He like had his friends stay over right after our wedding.
• 42:18
SPEAKER_06: Like we all still do that, and we just everyone comes to the house.
• 42:22
SPEAKER_06: And I love that way of life of like, don't even text me, don't call me, just come over.
• 42:27
SPEAKER_06: Just you just show up, like whatever.
• 42:28
  SPEAKER_06: It's totally fine.
• 42:29
SPEAKER_06: The door is always open for people in my mom and dad's life, now my mom and stepdad's life.
• 42:36
SPEAKER_06: So it's it'll be fun to have that with our daughter's friends and see that evolve over time.
• 42:43
SPEAKER_02: I might be a little more choosy.
• 42:45
SPEAKER_02: I might have to vet some of these people first.
• 42:47
SPEAKER_06: Wouldn't you rather them hang out under your roof though?
• 42:50
  SPEAKER_06: Yeah, totally.
• 42:50
  SPEAKER_06: Absolutely.
• 42:52
  SPEAKER_02: Absolutely.
• 42:53
SPEAKER_02: So I'm I'll I'll have my eyes on them the whole time.
• 42:56
  SPEAKER_02: Baby monitors everywhere.
• 42:57
SPEAKER_06: My dad used to do this thing when I would leave the house as a little kid.
• 43:01
SPEAKER_06: Like, I would have to go to his room and tell him my entire plan.
• 43:04
SPEAKER_06: And this is when you're like, I want to say 10 to 14 age, when people are just coming to pick you up.
• 43:11
SPEAKER_06: And like there's a whole rhythm to who you're hanging out with and what you're doing.
• 43:16
SPEAKER_06: I would have to go into his room.
• 43:17
SPEAKER_06: Meanwhile, my friends would be in the driveway, like picking me up.
• 43:20
SPEAKER_06: And I'd be like, all right, dad, I gotta go.
• 43:22
  SPEAKER_06: Julie's here.
• 43:22
SPEAKER_06: And he's like, Okay, where are you going?
• 43:24
  SPEAKER_06: Julie's house.
• 43:26
SPEAKER_06: Like, how are you getting there?
• 43:27
  SPEAKER_06: Julie's dad, he's in the driveway.
• 43:28
  SPEAKER_06: I gotta go.
• 43:29
SPEAKER_06: Well, how how are you getting home?
• 43:30
  SPEAKER_06: I don't know.
• 43:31
  SPEAKER_06: Can I can I call you?
• 43:32
SPEAKER_06: Can we figure it out?
• 43:33
SPEAKER_06: Well, what are you guys doing?
• 43:34
SPEAKER_06: How long will you be gone?
• 43:36
  SPEAKER_06: What are your plans?
• 43:37
  SPEAKER_06: Do you need anything?
• 43:38
  SPEAKER_02: I appreciate it.
• 43:39
SPEAKER_06: Yeah, like all of those questions.
• 43:41
  SPEAKER_02: Like that?
• 43:41
SPEAKER_02: I'll put it in the text.
• 43:42
SPEAKER_06: Yeah, it would be well, that was pretty text.
• 43:45
SPEAKER_06: Yeah, asking all of those questions very patiently.
• 43:47
SPEAKER_06: He'd be like, Okay, let me go downstairs and say hello to Dr.
• 43:50
  SPEAKER_06: Drew.
• 43:50
SPEAKER_06: So, like it was always there this sort of like slowness of what I would do, but I appreciate it in hindsight because he just he wanted answers for what we were doing, you know.
• 44:00
SPEAKER_06: I don't know what that had to do with anything, sorry.
• 44:02
  SPEAKER_02: Nothing like that.
• 44:03
  SPEAKER_02: Nothing like that.
• 44:03
  SPEAKER_06: How are we feeling?
• 44:04
SPEAKER_06: How long has it been?
• 44:05
SPEAKER_02: We're cutting out about ten minutes of it.
• 44:11
  SPEAKER_06: Okay.
• 44:12
SPEAKER_06: Who do you think will be the stricter parent?
• 44:14
  SPEAKER_02: Uh oh man.
• 44:16
  SPEAKER_06: I think you.
• 44:18
  SPEAKER_02: Ooh, interesting.
• 44:19
  SPEAKER_02: I do, I think you.
• 44:20
SPEAKER_02: I think the best thing you can give your kid is structure.
• 44:27
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
• 44:28
SPEAKER_02: And from structure, they can create freedom.
• 44:32
  SPEAKER_02: Right.
• 44:33
SPEAKER_02: But I'll never dictate I hope, how they think for themselves, what they love, what they're passionate about, who they love, uh, who they're passionate about, what they want to do in life, but making sure that like the realities of life are realities of life, and you just gotta make sure that you're like taking care of the things that need to be taken care of first.
• 44:52
  SPEAKER_06: Of course.
• 44:53
SPEAKER_06: But I walked into the kitchen today and Peter says, Out of the kitchen, I have a knife in my hands.
• 44:59
  SPEAKER_06: Don't come near me.
• 45:01
SPEAKER_02: Iris will be dangerous things.
• 45:03
SPEAKER_06: Peter will be using a Q-tip in his ear, and I'll be behind him, and he'll say, Stay over there, stay over there.
• 45:09
  SPEAKER_06: I have a Q-tip in my ear.
• 45:10
SPEAKER_06: So this is why I think Peter will put his character parrot.
• 45:13
SPEAKER_06: He's you're so aware of something going wrong or something bad happening.
• 45:18
SPEAKER_06: If it could happen, Peter's thought of it, and he's already telling you that it's in his mind.
• 45:23
SPEAKER_06: So do you know what I mean?
• 45:25
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 45:26
SPEAKER_06: Maybe it's like uh way that's not like you know, letting the hammer down, but it's um these are the potential outcomes.
• 45:33
SPEAKER_02: So let's just avoid the potentially dangerous situation in the first place.
• 45:36
SPEAKER_06: Peter also does this thing when he's like sort of panicked.
• 45:39
  SPEAKER_06: He'll repeat himself.
• 45:41
SPEAKER_07: Get in the car, get in the car, get in the car, get in the car.
• 45:43
SPEAKER_07: Like he'll repeat himself a lot really quickly.
• 45:46
SPEAKER_03: Okay, usually it's as Hannah's about to ram into the back of another person.
• 45:50
SPEAKER_03: Like, stop, stop, stop, stop, stop, stop, stop, stop, stop.
• 45:52
SPEAKER_06: Yeah, like it's like something like that where he'll he'll repeat itself like 40 times.
• 45:57
SPEAKER_06: When he first did it, it used to give me so much anxiety, but now I just I know what it is, and I'm like, oh Peter, okay, I'm getting a car.
• 46:04
SPEAKER_03: We're just an old married couple.
• 46:06
SPEAKER_06: So I think you'll be stricter in terms of like, no, we're not doing that.
• 46:10
  SPEAKER_06: Also, Peter's very decisive.
• 46:12
  SPEAKER_06: I am not.
• 46:13
SPEAKER_06: I just like don't care about most things in life, what we're doing and what we're eating.
• 46:17
SPEAKER_06: If Peter's like, no, I think we should go to dinner first and then go to the movie.
• 46:21
  SPEAKER_06: I'm like, cool, I whatever.
• 46:22
  SPEAKER_06: I I could care less.
• 46:24
SPEAKER_06: You're very decisive about things.
• 46:25
  SPEAKER_06: So I think you'll be a decision maker.
• 46:27
  SPEAKER_02: Overthink everything.
• 46:28
SPEAKER_06: But I appreciate that because I sometimes can't make a decision for my life.
• 46:32
SPEAKER_06: So I want to hang out with someone who's just making all the decisions, you know?
• 46:36
SPEAKER_02: Man, I really gotta start doing like Smedable or something.
• 46:40
  SPEAKER_06: No, you did not.
• 46:41
SPEAKER_02: I'm like, I'm always thinking of the three potential outcomes of any given situation, which allows me to panic.
• 46:49
SPEAKER_02: Uh be safe, I guess.
• 46:51
SPEAKER_02: But also like maybe I won't panic and cry.
• 46:53
  SPEAKER_02: What?
• 46:55
SPEAKER_02: Avoid panicking and crying, I guess.
• 46:57
SPEAKER_06: Uh who will be the more emotional parent?
• 47:01
  SPEAKER_02: Also me, bro.
• 47:02
  SPEAKER_06: Also, Peter.
• 47:03
  SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
• 47:04
SPEAKER_02: She's gonna make me cry so much.
• 47:06
SPEAKER_06: Do you think you'll cry when she's born?
• 47:09
  SPEAKER_06: I know I will.
• 47:10
  SPEAKER_06: Sure.
• 47:11
  SPEAKER_02: I'll cry when I hold her.
• 47:13
SPEAKER_02: I can already guarantee it.
• 47:14
SPEAKER_02: I don't want to talk about it.
• 47:15
SPEAKER_02: I don't want to ruin that moment.
• 47:17
SPEAKER_07: It's not gonna ruin it.
• 47:18
SPEAKER_02: No, I just wanna I just wanna fully experience it without any previous thought.
• 47:21
  SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
• 47:22
SPEAKER_02: Because then it feels like I'm thinking about the thought, not the moment.
• 47:25
  SPEAKER_06: Right.
• 47:26
SPEAKER_02: I just want to experience the moment.
• 47:28
SPEAKER_06: Has there been any part of pregnancy that's been hard for you?
• 47:32
SPEAKER_06: Or like difficult for you, or something unexpected for the guy side?
• 47:36
  SPEAKER_06: Really?
• 47:37
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, like emotional ups and downs here and there, but it's not really hard.
• 47:40
  SPEAKER_02: Okay.
• 47:41
SPEAKER_06: I mean just like I get irritable.
• 47:44
  SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
• 47:44
SPEAKER_02: And so make there's like maybe a day where like you're annoying.
• 47:47
  SPEAKER_02: Go to sleep.
• 47:48
SPEAKER_02: Like, go eat a cracker.
• 47:52
  SPEAKER_02: Like g g get some carbs.
• 47:53
  SPEAKER_02: Like go eat something.
• 47:55
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 47:55
  SPEAKER_02: And it literally helps.
• 47:57
  SPEAKER_01: That's true.
• 47:57
SPEAKER_02: It can be as simple as like, you just need food, you just need sleep.
• 48:00
SPEAKER_02: It's like the same things the baby's gonna need is what does you best right now.
• 48:04
SPEAKER_02: Food, sleep, uh, a back rub.
• 48:06
  SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
• 48:06
SPEAKER_06: What are you looking forward to most in those first few days with the baby?
• 48:10
  SPEAKER_06: The kisses, the holding?
• 48:12
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
• 48:13
  SPEAKER_02: Skin skin contact.
• 48:15
SPEAKER_02: Seeing every little bit of her for the first time.
• 48:18
SPEAKER_06: I just want to stare at her.
• 48:19
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
• 48:20
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
• 48:20
SPEAKER_02: Absorb every bit of it.
• 48:22
SPEAKER_02: Like what parts are yours, what parts are mine of her features?
• 48:25
SPEAKER_07: Like, and she's gonna change so much.
• 48:27
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and she's gonna look like a little potato at the time.
• 48:29
  SPEAKER_02: Truly.
• 48:30
  SPEAKER_07: Potato.
• 48:31
  SPEAKER_02: A wrinkly potato.
• 48:32
  SPEAKER_07: I love wrinkly potatoes.
• 48:34
SPEAKER_02: Like, what are her fingers gonna look like?
• 48:36
SPEAKER_02: What are toes gonna look like?
• 48:38
SPEAKER_06: Can we have some predictions?
• 48:39
SPEAKER_02: My family's got a really fun pool going on right now.
• 48:41
SPEAKER_06: They do that my family hasn't responded to.
• 48:45
SPEAKER_02: They've got uh length, birth date, uh, and time.
• 48:49
  SPEAKER_02: That's what it is.
• 48:50
  SPEAKER_02: What are your predictions?
• 48:50
SPEAKER_02: Are you gonna make them here?
• 48:51
SPEAKER_06: Uh yeah, let's do it.
• 48:52
SPEAKER_02: Since you haven't responded to the family group chat yet?
• 48:54
SPEAKER_06: Yeah, let me make my decision stop.
• 48:56
SPEAKER_06: I would like to make the prediction that she will be born on I really want her to be born on your birthday.
• 49:02
SPEAKER_06: By the way, you guys Me too.
• 49:03
  SPEAKER_06: Peter's 40th birthday is March 19th.
• 49:06
SPEAKER_06: Our actual due date is March 20th.
• 49:09
SPEAKER_06: I'm saying this because I need help.
• 49:11
SPEAKER_06: Like, what do I do?
• 49:13
  SPEAKER_00: Give me a baby.
• 49:15
SPEAKER_06: My husband's 40th birthday, and I want to have a big party.
• 49:17
SPEAKER_06: I want to do something fun.
• 49:18
SPEAKER_06: I like you always picture like a fun, fabulous event, and I am literally giving him a child.
• 49:24
  SPEAKER_06: So it's my own.
• 49:26
  SPEAKER_02: Sounds great.
• 49:26
SPEAKER_06: He's like, I don't even want to party, but yeah.
• 49:29
SPEAKER_02: Uh I really hope the day is just absolutely beautiful.
• 49:31
SPEAKER_02: I can just go like sit in a lawn chair by the lake and watch the sunset.
• 49:35
  SPEAKER_06: With the baby.
• 49:36
SPEAKER_02: If the baby is here, no, because it'll be too cold.
• 49:39
SPEAKER_02: I will be inside with the baby.
• 49:40
  SPEAKER_06: That's true.
• 49:41
SPEAKER_02: If the baby is not here, that's what I'll do.
• 49:43
SPEAKER_06: So I hope that she's born on March 19th.
• 49:47
  SPEAKER_06: Friday, March 19th.
• 49:49
SPEAKER_06: If so, that's actually like two weeks though, so that's sort of far away.
• 49:53
SPEAKER_06: So this is where I I am two roads diverged in a yellow wood.
• 49:59
SPEAKER_06: I don't know which one to do.
• 50:00
  SPEAKER_01: Totally.
• 50:01
SPEAKER_06: I'm gonna I'm gonna fork in the road, you guys, because I want her out of me.
• 50:05
SPEAKER_06: But I also would like her to share Peter's birthday March 19th.
• 50:08
SPEAKER_06: I think she's gonna be bored in the morning.
• 50:10
SPEAKER_06: I think it'll be hopefully really early.
• 50:13
SPEAKER_06: I'd like to have my coffee with the sunrise.
• 50:15
  SPEAKER_02: Okay, I'm so gonna have 5 a.m.
• 50:17
  SPEAKER_06: Okay.
• 50:18
  SPEAKER_02: Or center.
• 50:19
  SPEAKER_02: Sure.
• 50:20
SPEAKER_02: How much is she gonna weigh?
• 50:21
SPEAKER_06: She's gonna weigh seven pounds.
• 50:26
  SPEAKER_06: Three ounces.
• 50:27
  SPEAKER_01: Okay.
• 50:29
SPEAKER_02: How long is she gonna be?
• 50:31
  SPEAKER_06: I don't know.
• 50:32
SPEAKER_02: What's the normal the average is like nineteen to twenty inches?
• 50:36
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
• 50:37
SPEAKER_06: Okay, she'll be nineteen inches.
• 50:38
  SPEAKER_02: No, centimeters.
• 50:42
  SPEAKER_06: Nineteen inches.
• 50:43
  SPEAKER_06: I don't freaking know.
• 50:44
  SPEAKER_06: Okay.
• 50:45
SPEAKER_06: I've never been good with numbers.
• 50:46
SPEAKER_06: I would rather make predictions about like eye color, you know.
• 50:49
SPEAKER_06: We might not know those things for a year though.
• 50:51
SPEAKER_02: That defeats the whole purpose of the family.
• 50:53
  SPEAKER_06: I know.
• 50:54
  SPEAKER_06: I'm sorry.
• 50:54
SPEAKER_06: Okay, what are your answers?
• 50:56
SPEAKER_02: All right, my answers were March 19th, of course.
• 50:58
  SPEAKER_02: I think I said 8 p.m.
• 51:00
  SPEAKER_02: Yep, 8 p.m.
• 51:01
SPEAKER_02: Seven pounds, eight ounces, and twenty inches long.
• 51:04
  SPEAKER_06: Okay.
• 51:05
  SPEAKER_02: That's what I'm saying.
• 51:07
  SPEAKER_06: Okay.
• 51:07
  SPEAKER_06: I okay, last question.
• 51:11
SPEAKER_06: What will you be excited to tell her one day?
• 51:14
SPEAKER_06: So maybe like, you know, let's say she's listening to this episode 10 years from now.
• 51:20
SPEAKER_06: What would you be excited to say to her?
• 51:24
SPEAKER_06: I remember my mom used to say she was when we were little, she was so excited to like just have a conversation with us.
• 51:30
SPEAKER_06: So I think I would have that attitude of like, I just want to hear her tell me about her day.
• 51:35
SPEAKER_06: I want to know if we've done a good job.
• 51:37
SPEAKER_02: At what age do you picture her?
• 51:38
  SPEAKER_06: Like 10.
• 51:39
  SPEAKER_06: Let's say 10 years old.
• 51:41
SPEAKER_02: You want to know at 10 years old if she thinks we've done a good job.
• 51:44
  SPEAKER_07: Yeah, I do.
• 51:46
SPEAKER_07: Wait, why is that weird?
• 51:48
SPEAKER_03: Because she's like, oh my god, 10 years old.
• 51:50
SPEAKER_03: And like, no, you didn't give me my iPad today.
• 51:54
SPEAKER_03: Like, we know kids of that age.
• 51:55
  SPEAKER_03: It's like I have no clue.
• 51:57
SPEAKER_06: But yesterday when we went to the movies, Peter and I stood up in the credits of this new Disney Pixar movie Hoppers.
• 52:03
SPEAKER_06: We went with We had a dance party.
• 52:05
SPEAKER_06: Yeah, we went with his niece and nephew, and we were just, you know, the movie was like Gooving around.
• 52:09
  SPEAKER_03: Who cares?
• 52:10
  SPEAKER_06: Silly kids movie.
• 52:11
SPEAKER_03: No one knows us with the movie theater, like just having fun.
• 52:14
SPEAKER_06: We both just stood up and started dancing really obnoxiously to this music.
• 52:18
SPEAKER_06: Staying within our own seat, like not being that crazy.
• 52:22
  SPEAKER_02: No.
• 52:22
SPEAKER_06: But both his niece and nephew were like, oh my God, you guys.
• 52:26
  SPEAKER_02: You're such dorks.
• 52:29
  SPEAKER_06: They love you.
• 52:30
SPEAKER_02: The question was, what do I want to ask her someday?
• 52:32
SPEAKER_06: What's something you'd want her to know?
• 52:35
  SPEAKER_06: Oh, okay.
• 52:35
  SPEAKER_06: This is better.
• 52:36
  SPEAKER_06: Hold on.
• 52:36
SPEAKER_06: What's something you'd want her to know about this moment right now before she's born?
• 52:42
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I just want to tell her about the things that happened in life before, the people that she missed, the greatness of my grandparents that made me who I am, that then made her who she is.
• 52:51
SPEAKER_02: The the places that I lived that she'll never see, the places that we live now that she'll never see, the the house that we were blessed to be given for this six-month period before her birth and how it changed our lives forever because of it.
• 53:04
SPEAKER_02: But she'll never know any of that.
• 53:05
SPEAKER_02: Like all the parts that come and go throughout life are what got her to where she is.
• 53:10
SPEAKER_02: So like I want to see what phase of life did each one of those things leave her.
• 53:14
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 53:15
SPEAKER_02: Because they'll all leave at some point.
• 53:16
  SPEAKER_01: Right.
• 53:17
SPEAKER_02: And how much did she get to know because of like where she is in life?
• 53:21
  SPEAKER_02: Is she five?
• 53:23
  SPEAKER_02: Is she twenty?
• 53:24
SPEAKER_02: How much does she really get to appreciate those things that were in her life at the time?
• 53:30
SPEAKER_02: And like there are things that my parents like did and saw and were given and gave to us that we probably never knew it just happened before we could.
• 53:43
SPEAKER_06: Well, you're looking at it from such an interesting perspective.
• 53:45
SPEAKER_06: I was more thinking just like, I would want her to know right now, before we are about to meet her, that we are so excited to meet her.
• 53:53
SPEAKER_05: Well, yes, that obviously too.
• 53:56
SPEAKER_06: And that um we are in this blissfully unaware stage of early parenthood where we have no idea what we're getting ourselves into.
• 54:07
SPEAKER_06: And it's gonna be like a just a big beautiful mess.
• 54:12
SPEAKER_06: And there's no one I'd rather be doing it with.
• 54:16
  SPEAKER_01: Oh, so sweet.
• 54:17
SPEAKER_06: No, really, and there's looking at how the timing couldn't have been more perfect, looking at how everything has lined up for us in preparation for her has worked out so perfectly, so by God's design.
• 54:30
SPEAKER_06: It only proves that she was meant to be born at this time.
• 54:34
SPEAKER_06: Like we were supposed to have this child at this time.
• 54:37
SPEAKER_06: Um and so I can't wait for her arrival.
• 54:40
SPEAKER_06: And so many people say your life begins when you have kids.
• 54:43
SPEAKER_06: And I've always wanted to be mom, I've always felt that in my bones.
• 54:47
SPEAKER_06: So there's this part of me that's ready to meet that other version of us, you know, and see what that evolves into in this beautiful way.
• 54:56
SPEAKER_06: Because I think it's like a new journey that, yeah, we're gonna be parents for the rest of our lives, no going back, but it's gonna be such a beautiful, fun chapter of our lives.
• 55:05
SPEAKER_06: And it's only gonna last a little bit when she's so little, you know?
• 55:08
SPEAKER_06: So yeah, I would say I'm so excited for this little chapter.
• 55:14
  SPEAKER_06: Your answer was good.
• 55:15
SPEAKER_06: I'm sorry, mine was so fluffy.
• 55:18
  SPEAKER_02: Oh, it's also beautiful.
• 55:19
SPEAKER_02: Like you are so excited for the process and the change of the process.
• 55:24
  SPEAKER_02: I absolutely am too.
• 55:25
SPEAKER_02: But I think it's so cool just at the same time think of like how the process came to be.
• 55:39
  SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
• 55:40
SPEAKER_06: Well, I don't know about you, but I'm ready for a speech treat.
• 55:42
SPEAKER_06: On that note, well, guys, it's been fun.
• 55:46
  SPEAKER_06: I truly I can't look at myself anymore.
• 55:48
SPEAKER_06: Um, thank you guys for listening.
• 55:49
  SPEAKER_06: Oh my god.
• 55:50
SPEAKER_02: This is how the podcast started.
• 55:51
SPEAKER_06: Thank you for spending some questions to Hey Heta.
• 55:54
  SPEAKER_06: It's been super fun.
• 55:55
SPEAKER_06: Um, I think this might be the final episode until after Baby arrives.
• 56:00
SPEAKER_06: Things are gonna get a little hazy for a little bit.
• 56:03
  SPEAKER_02: That's a Thursday.
• 56:05
  SPEAKER_06: Yes.
• 56:07
  SPEAKER_06: We'll see.
• 56:08
SPEAKER_06: We'll see how everything goes.
• 56:09
SPEAKER_06: We'll see what happens, but this may or may not be the final episode.
• 56:11
SPEAKER_06: If you don't, I told you this before, but if you don't hear from me, you could just expect the fact that Baby Girl is here.
• 56:17
SPEAKER_06: But even so, I'll be bringing Peter back to talk about that entire experience in full because we will certainly want to remember it in every detail.
• 56:24
SPEAKER_06: All right, well, thank you guys for listening, and um I hope everyone has a great week ahead.
• 56:28
SPEAKER_06: I'll talk to you guys soon.
• 56:29
  SPEAKER_06: Goodbye.
• 56:30
  SPEAKER_06: Tune out
