- 0:00Speaker 1: She's on the Money. She's on the Money.
- 0:13Speaker 2: Hello, and welcome to She's on the Money, the podcast
- 0:16Speaker 2: for millennials who want a financial freedom. Welcome back to
- 0:20Speaker 2: another one of our Friday Drinks episodes where we celebrate
- 0:23Speaker 2: the money wins from our She's on the Money community.
- 0:26Speaker 2: Every single week. There are amazing money wins and confessions
- 0:29Speaker 2: happening every single day in our community, and we spend
- 0:32Speaker 2: a really big part of our week talking about them
- 0:34Speaker 2: as a team. So it seems only fair to extend
- 0:37Speaker 2: that chat to you guys. So let's dive straight into
- 0:40Speaker 2: some stuff that happened this week. Tony is here to
- 0:43Speaker 2: tell us all about the Money Diary.
- 0:45Speaker 1: So our Money Diary this week was a lady who
- 0:49Speaker 1: has been working in marketing for a lot of her
- 0:51Speaker 1: life and when she took maternity leave, she got some
- 0:55Speaker 1: really bad skin conditions, started talking about it on her
- 0:58Speaker 1: Instagram and now has like over five and followers or
- 1:00Speaker 1: something and all these brand works with all these brands,
- 1:03Speaker 1: and she's like a full on influencer.
- 1:05Speaker 2: Yeah. But like the best part about that is it's
- 1:07Speaker 2: now her full time job. Yeah.
- 1:09Speaker 3: Is that the definition of like owning your problems? Yeah?
- 1:12Speaker 3: What started as a problem. Is now a new career.
- 1:14Speaker 1: Yeah, now she's like, God, I love my dermatitis.
- 1:19Speaker 2: What she was like. But she was great and she
- 1:21Speaker 2: actually plugged her Instagram because she's actually a little influencer.
- 1:24Speaker 2: That was really cool and I love that that's now
- 1:26Speaker 2: her full time job and she's actually about to move
- 1:28Speaker 2: to Vancouver and just like start life over there with
- 1:31Speaker 2: her partner.
- 1:32Speaker 1: Yeah. So if you want to check her out, it's
- 1:34Speaker 1: at Amanda's cute face, which is quite cute, and she's
- 1:37Speaker 1: just reel glowy, Like she comes up in my feed
- 1:39Speaker 1: now and she's just like a Christmas tree. She's just
- 1:42Speaker 1: glown all over the place. We'll be able to see
- 1:43Speaker 1: her from Canada still.
- 1:44Speaker 2: Yeah, absolutely, but it's also rude how glowy she is.
- 1:47Speaker 2: I'm just like, that is so unfollow You're too nice.
- 1:51Speaker 2: I want to be like you. Her skin is flawless.
- 1:54Speaker 1: But yeah, so obviously our money diaries are normally anonymous,
- 1:58Speaker 1: but she gave.
- 1:58Speaker 2: Us permission we didn't, just to express it absolutely. And
- 2:03Speaker 2: then on Wednesday, we had our Deep Dive episode with
- 2:06Speaker 2: the one and only Georgia King. Georgia, what did we
- 2:08Speaker 2: talk about this.
- 2:10Speaker 4: Week on our Deep Dive episode, we spoke about imposter
- 2:13Speaker 4: syndrome and we Tone was in on the chat with us.
- 2:16Speaker 2: Yeah, we dragged you in.
- 2:17Speaker 1: Sorry, I love being dragged in. So it was quite a.
- 2:20Speaker 4: Deep and vulnerable chat between the three of us. I
- 2:23Speaker 4: guess what was your take on it?
- 2:24Speaker 2: Well, I really liked it. But I obviously loved talking
- 2:27Speaker 2: about topics like this because I think that as women,
- 2:29Speaker 2: we should be talking about these topics more openly and
- 2:32Speaker 2: more regularly. And so it felt right to bring Tony
- 2:35Speaker 2: into that conversation because unlike you and I, Georgia, we're
- 2:39Speaker 2: on the deep dives. We often just present information. It
- 2:41Speaker 2: felt like maybe that was a better conversation to be
- 2:44Speaker 2: had between three friends, you know, relating to the story
- 2:47Speaker 2: and sharing different points of view because we're all at
- 2:49Speaker 2: different stages of our careers and our development. And I
- 2:52Speaker 2: just thought it was, yeah, really powerful. I listened to
- 2:54Speaker 2: it back and I was really proud of what we created.
- 2:56Speaker 1: And we talked about how important it is to be
- 2:58Speaker 1: your own cheerlead too, and when you do something well,
- 3:02Speaker 1: tonoledge it and own it be and say I'm really
- 3:05Speaker 1: proud of that. And I did a really good job.
- 3:07Speaker 3: Is that so normal?
- 3:08Speaker 5: When you do something well and people congratulate you and
- 3:10Speaker 5: you're like, oh no, no, it's not not a people,
- 3:11Speaker 5: and like it's really it almost feels weird. Thank you
- 3:14Speaker 5: for the compliment, and like accept it.
- 3:16Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean for us, Ryan doesn't do that.
- 3:19Speaker 1: But you've never complimented me before. So oh, you go
- 3:24Speaker 1: into my restrict there.
- 3:26Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, you'll slide back. You'll slide back into the
- 3:29Speaker 2: restricted dms like you'll get blocked. But let's move on.
- 3:33Speaker 2: And to ask Jessicai two questions, one what are we drinking?
- 3:38Speaker 2: And to why are we drinking that?
- 3:40Speaker 6: Well, the answer to the second question is because I
- 3:42Speaker 6: once again was left with the task of choosing the drinks.
- 3:45Speaker 6: And I told you. I told you that we would
- 3:48Speaker 6: end up with something not so great if I was
- 3:49Speaker 6: left to my own devices.
- 3:50Speaker 2: But you weren't left to your own devices. You and
- 3:52Speaker 2: Tony I videoed this. You guys played a guessing game.
- 3:56Speaker 6: Kind of, yes, but we still ended up on the
- 3:58Speaker 6: mod slide.
- 3:59Speaker 2: Yes, I'm I'm not opening mine. Mine still got the
- 4:01Speaker 2: lid on. It's not happening.
- 4:04Speaker 6: Vodka mud Shake, which is a chocolate flavored, creamy vodka
- 4:08Speaker 6: beverage adding to the bottle you guys enjoy that took
- 4:12Speaker 6: a sep. How did you feel about that?
- 4:13Speaker 1: I actually don't hate it.
- 4:15Speaker 5: Yeah, I think we purchased it ironically and we've been
- 4:17Speaker 5: joking about it. But now that I taste it, it's
- 4:19Speaker 5: actually pretty good. Geordia, and I've been not.
- 4:21Speaker 4: It tastes like a big m I mean, I haven't wash.
- 4:23Speaker 6: You guys have been shitting on me all night.
- 4:25Speaker 1: For turning over with me.
- 4:27Speaker 2: I will continue to do so, Jessica.
- 4:30Speaker 1: I don't think I could have a night out on
- 4:32Speaker 1: them or anything. But it's not a bad I put teeth.
- 4:36Speaker 1: It's a lot like an espresso. My team, you kind
- 4:39Speaker 1: of ribe.
- 4:40Speaker 2: Yeah, it's not awful.
- 4:41Speaker 3: All right.
- 4:42Speaker 2: Well, I'm glad that you guys are happy, and that's
- 4:44Speaker 2: what makes she just tastes like chocolate milk.
- 4:46Speaker 6: Sorry I was talking. So when you get try oh, okay,
- 4:49Speaker 6: well all right, six out of ten.
- 4:50Speaker 2: So you know what, We're going to move on from
- 4:53Speaker 2: here because I'm just really disengaged with this drink. I
- 4:55Speaker 2: don't feel included. I feel excluded from this community. Ryan.
- 5:00Speaker 2: What are our top money wins that you've collected from
- 5:01Speaker 2: the community this day?
- 5:07Speaker 5: How much at Doc Martin's normally. And I think, Jess,
- 5:09Speaker 5: you've seen this post in the group. Brand new Doc
- 5:12Speaker 5: Martin boots can be a real spino.
- 5:13Speaker 1: Two or three hundred bucks, right, well investment, Yeah, they
- 5:17Speaker 1: are so Ebony said, I bought a second hand pair
- 5:20Speaker 1: then been worn once before and must have been returned
- 5:23Speaker 1: to the store or some kind of you know, technical whatever.
- 5:26Speaker 3: She got one hundred dollars off and they'd been worn once.
- 5:30Speaker 6: That's so new.
- 5:31Speaker 5: She'd still have to break them in, because their shoes,
- 5:34Speaker 5: you do have to break to break them in. Yeah.
- 5:36Speaker 1: I've got docs that I've had for like ten years.
- 5:38Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 5:39Speaker 6: There was someone posted in our group a while ago
- 5:41Speaker 6: and said she'd had hers for years and years and
- 5:43Speaker 6: then she just got them resold because they held up perfectly.
- 5:45Speaker 3: Yeah, a legend.
- 5:46Speaker 1: They're a very good investment.
- 5:47Speaker 2: They sound like it. And I always see girls down
- 5:50Speaker 2: the street wearing them, because you know, I hang out
- 5:52Speaker 2: in the Richmond area. There's sorts of cool girls there.
- 5:54Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 5:55Speaker 2: Can you imagine mean docs?
- 5:56Speaker 1: I just I'm not cool enough, unfortunately.
- 5:59Speaker 2: No, no, sorry, it's unfortunate.
- 6:01Speaker 5: But the people that wear docks probably couldn't imagine themselves
- 6:04Speaker 5: in your shoes either.
- 6:05Speaker 1: No, they'd be like, I'm not wearing Alu boo tong.
- 6:10Speaker 5: All right home, Jessica said, I punched my tire last night.
- 6:14Speaker 5: Would normally be worried, but last month I set up
- 6:16Speaker 5: a small emergency fund specifically for my car, which it
- 6:20Speaker 5: felt so good that I could actually pay the money
- 6:22Speaker 5: that I already had instead of dipping into my savings
- 6:24Speaker 5: and my credit card. So she says, thank you. She's
- 6:26Speaker 5: on the money for teaching me to have an emergency fund.
- 6:28Speaker 1: Oh well, And.
- 6:30Speaker 5: Georgina was quoted three hundred dollars for a laptop battery
- 6:34Speaker 5: to be replaced, and she said no and bought her
- 6:38Speaker 5: own battery online for eighty dollars, replaced it herself, saved
- 6:41Speaker 5: two hundred and twenty.
- 6:42Speaker 1: Bus Bussela legends.
- 6:44Speaker 4: Wow.
- 6:45Speaker 5: Haley Parrish says, I mostly work from home in my
- 6:47Speaker 5: pj's legend, And I've been eyeing off this new pair
- 6:51Speaker 5: of Peter Alexander.
- 6:52Speaker 3: Are they Pete Alexander like the best? Yeah, the comfiest or.
- 6:55Speaker 1: Like when you walk past their shops, it smells like
- 6:57Speaker 1: delicious cinnamon rolls. No it doesn't.
- 6:59Speaker 2: It smells Amelia.
- 7:01Speaker 1: Yeah, so good.
- 7:04Speaker 2: It's such a smell too.
- 7:05Speaker 6: And their mascot is a sausage dog called Penny.
- 7:08Speaker 5: So Cuekaylee says, I didn't want to pay eighty nine dollars,
- 7:11Speaker 5: but I got them on click Frenzy for twenty nine dollars.
- 7:14Speaker 2: Well, Frenzy, that is good for Peter Alexander pas. I'm
- 7:19Speaker 2: a fiend for new pjs and can definitely relate.
- 7:22Speaker 5: Here's a question for Victoria, and I know you're not
- 7:24Speaker 5: an accountant be but definitely. Anna replies to Hailey's comment
- 7:29Speaker 5: and said, because you wear pjs at work, could you
- 7:31Speaker 5: claim the Peter Alexander PJS as a work uniform or
- 7:34Speaker 5: a work expense?
- 7:35Speaker 2: I am not an accountant, but from my ability to read,
- 7:39Speaker 2: the ATO website doesn't have your work clogo on it,
- 7:42Speaker 2: so you can't claim it.
- 7:43Speaker 3: I was ready to hit the button because I thought
- 7:45Speaker 3: you were going to say.
- 7:45Speaker 2: Yes, no, absolutely not.
- 7:48Speaker 5: Do it anyway. This is from Amber. Last week, my
- 7:56Speaker 5: partner and I were visiting my grandma and she lives
- 7:58Speaker 5: near a Savers, so it's like our tradition that we
- 8:00Speaker 5: go and see Grandma for Sunday lunch and then we
- 8:01Speaker 5: go to Savers afterwards.
- 8:02Speaker 1: That's cute, Sas, what are you joking is that.
- 8:05Speaker 6: It's like the home, the bestest, the most large shop
- 8:11Speaker 6: in the state. It's like physically just so many like
- 8:14Speaker 6: a supermarket, right, it's massive. There's one in Footscray. Where
- 8:18Speaker 6: are there's one? As I say, there's one in one
- 8:21Speaker 6: of the hipster Brunswick.
- 8:23Speaker 4: Yes, we wanted to Frankston as well.
- 8:25Speaker 1: Yeah, mean you to be?
- 8:27Speaker 2: Is that goold? What's gone?
- 8:28Speaker 4: Girl?
- 8:29Speaker 2: The world has changed since I lived on the peninsula.
- 8:32Speaker 5: Every time there's a dress up party at my high
- 8:33Speaker 5: school in Altham, everyone everyone savers on the Friday afternoon
- 8:37Speaker 5: in Greensboro just getting their outfits because they just had
- 8:39Speaker 5: literally supermarket ours of everything.
- 8:42Speaker 3: We go. Yeah, we can.
- 8:43Speaker 2: Really saves trip, Absolutely we can.
- 8:45Speaker 6: And if you donate clothes, they give you a card
- 8:47Speaker 6: that gives you a discount on your perchase.
- 8:49Speaker 1: Oh that's smart.
- 8:51Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 8:51Speaker 5: So Amber said they found a brand new the north
- 8:54Speaker 5: Face jacket for a boyfriend. Normally retails for three hundred dollars.
- 8:58Speaker 5: They got it for twelve dollars.
- 9:02Speaker 2: Yeah, that is the money win.
- 9:05Speaker 5: Now, I might be out of my depth with a
- 9:07Speaker 5: few questions, so it helped me out how much would
- 9:09Speaker 5: it normally cost? And I know there's no such as normal,
- 9:11Speaker 5: but for a female to get her hair done.
- 9:14Speaker 2: Well, is she blonde or is she brunette?
- 9:18Speaker 6: Cut? Is it a color?
- 9:20Speaker 5: Well, that's why I was asking for help, just for
- 9:22Speaker 5: a cut. What would the range be?
- 9:25Speaker 2: Oh, look, I'd say anywhere from twenty five dollars for
- 9:27Speaker 2: your el cheapo really easy haircut, literally up to three
- 9:32Speaker 2: hundred dollars.
- 9:33Speaker 3: All right, So miss Coco is what we'll call her.
- 9:36Speaker 3: It sounds expensive, she said.
- 9:37Speaker 5: After expensive, she said, after a year of dealing with
- 9:40Speaker 5: my passive aggressive hairdresser, which was just a editorial that
- 9:45Speaker 5: wasn't needed.
- 9:45Speaker 2: But it also really it also sets thee and it
- 9:50Speaker 2: makes me a little bit concerned about why she continually
- 9:53Speaker 2: went back to a passive aggressive Well, you.
- 9:55Speaker 3: Know how you just dress.
- 9:55Speaker 5: You got your routine and that's when you go to
- 9:57Speaker 5: or something. The passive aggressive hairdresser was charging one hundred dollars,
- 10:01Speaker 5: but Miss Coco has really short hair and it actually
- 10:03Speaker 5: didn't take her that long. So she goes, I understand
- 10:05Speaker 5: that some people take longer, blah blah blah, but she's like,
- 10:07Speaker 5: in and out, I feel like it's not worth.
- 10:09Speaker 3: One hundred dollars.
- 10:10Speaker 5: So she said she'd shop around and She stumbled across
- 10:12Speaker 5: the just cuts and thought, why not?
- 10:14Speaker 3: The experience doesn't have to be all lucks of the salon.
- 10:17Speaker 3: But the hairdresser was enthusiastic, very experienced, and cut my
- 10:19Speaker 3: hair for twenty four dollars.
- 10:21Speaker 1: Oh yeah, close to the.
- 10:25Speaker 2: Haircut's going to be.
- 10:26Speaker 1: Hey, good job, miss Coco.
- 10:28Speaker 3: Well, Miss Coco has a pixie mohawk and is quite
- 10:30Speaker 3: happy with the work. And the newest customer.
- 10:33Speaker 2: Everybody that listens to our show is much cooler than me.
- 10:36Speaker 2: I don't know why you're here.
- 10:37Speaker 1: On wearing their docks, got their pixy haircut, yet.
- 10:41Speaker 3: The same person.
- 10:43Speaker 5: Finally, Shannon Jay says, money win. I won one thousand
- 10:46Speaker 5: dollars on the Cabury Golden Ticket competition.
- 10:50Speaker 1: What actually is that? I don't know.
- 10:54Speaker 5: Yeah, well she's got one thousand dollars in her pocket
- 10:57Speaker 5: and she sung the song I've Got a Golden Ticket
- 11:00Speaker 5: in the comment section.
- 11:01Speaker 2: Amen, clever, I really like that. I really like that.
- 11:04Speaker 2: I am actually quite envious. Can you imagine opening a
- 11:07Speaker 2: chocolate bar and finding a thousand dollars because usually I
- 11:10Speaker 2: don't know.
- 11:10Speaker 6: Hope you get chocolate as well.
- 11:12Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, speaking of chocolate, our favorite chocolate place.
- 11:14Speaker 2: Tony Haye Tiger's closing. I saw fever. I'm really upset
- 11:20Speaker 2: about it, so I made myself feel better by ordering
- 11:22Speaker 2: a lot of chocolate on the internet for the office.
- 11:24Speaker 2: So that'll be here. Money win for everybody, But let's
- 11:29Speaker 2: actually talk about everybody's money wins after this quick break.
- 11:40Speaker 2: All right, we are back and it is time to
- 11:43Speaker 2: ask the team about their money wins or confessions. George's yawning,
- 11:47Speaker 2: but you know who's not yawning, Tony and Jess who
- 11:50Speaker 2: have a joint money win or join And I'm really
- 11:55Speaker 2: sure if it's a doing money win or a confession
- 11:58Speaker 2: or the fact that I was actually out of the
- 12:00Speaker 2: office for most of this morning. Do you guys maybe
- 12:03Speaker 2: want to elaborate to everybody tuning in, Tony taking away,
- 12:06Speaker 2: this is what did you do?
- 12:07Speaker 5: Well?
- 12:08Speaker 1: I would like to preface it with it is definitely
- 12:10Speaker 1: a wind. It's not a.
- 12:13Speaker 2: Like between you. You've both spent more than a thousand
- 12:16Speaker 2: dollars and you're calling this a wind? Is that right?
- 12:18Speaker 1: Okay? But we both got a diceon air wrap. Now
- 12:23Speaker 1: for anybody that doesn't know.
- 12:25Speaker 3: Please enlighten me.
- 12:26Speaker 1: Yes, okay, because I was in this.
- 12:28Speaker 3: Group message, and I have no idea what happened today.
- 12:31Speaker 1: So it is basically so Dyson, who make the hair
- 12:35Speaker 1: dry the hand dryers on the vacuums and everything, they
- 12:40Speaker 1: developed this range of hair styling tools and it's supposed
- 12:44Speaker 1: to be the best thing ever. It's like basically like
- 12:46Speaker 1: if angels were touching your hair to dry it and
- 12:48Speaker 1: style it every day. It's like better than elf juices
- 12:53Speaker 1: being put on your hair every morning for strength and longevity.
- 12:56Speaker 6: It's healthier for your hair because it uses like.
- 12:59Speaker 3: That's the elf.
- 13:00Speaker 2: Yeah, got it?
- 13:01Speaker 1: Okay anyway, so get to the point, as the air
- 13:06Speaker 1: apps are normally like nine hundred dollars for the one
- 13:09Speaker 1: that I wanted, had the extra fancy had the extra
- 13:13Speaker 1: fancy carry case. Anyway, So I saw this post in
- 13:16Speaker 1: how She's on the money community.
- 13:17Speaker 6: Turned out her boyfriend found this deal though, yeah.
- 13:20Speaker 1: On oz Bargains, which I didn't know was a thing,
- 13:24Speaker 1: but basically it was. Well, it's just this website. It's
- 13:27Speaker 1: like a forum. Do you remember forums where people would
- 13:30Speaker 1: get on and like share their things.
- 13:33Speaker 2: Yeah, Reddit, like rereddit, Yeah on Reddit sometimes Yeah, I
- 13:38Speaker 2: love redits.
- 13:39Speaker 5: Are still like that's where it starts before it starts
- 13:42Speaker 5: spreading to mainstream.
- 13:44Speaker 3: Why this deal came from.
- 13:45Speaker 6: That's the forums that took down game stops there you go.
- 13:49Speaker 1: Anyway, so very powerful place, very powerful web of deceit
- 13:54Speaker 1: and destruction. Anyway, So he did not at the point
- 13:57Speaker 1: of the story, sorry that it's the most exciting story ever.
- 14:01Speaker 1: I deserve to Oh my god, you know what. I've
- 14:04Speaker 1: had enough.
- 14:05Speaker 3: So what happened this morning Tony?
- 14:06Speaker 1: Anyway, So she posted this thing about how you could
- 14:09Speaker 1: get this amazing air up instead of it being eight
- 14:11Speaker 1: hundred and ninety eight dollars, that it would be five
- 14:13Speaker 1: hundred and fifty dollars.
- 14:14Speaker 2: That is a money win.
- 14:15Speaker 1: So and I didn't just decide I was going to
- 14:18Speaker 1: get it. Have I not been talking to you guys
- 14:20Speaker 1: four months about how much I wanted an error?
- 14:23Speaker 2: The only thing I hear about consistently on a daily
- 14:27Speaker 2: basis from Tony and Jess.
- 14:29Speaker 6: We've probably said it on the pod before.
- 14:30Speaker 2: You asked me about mine. You're googling it consistently, you
- 14:34Speaker 2: guys are watching YouTube tutorials on it. You're talking about
- 14:37Speaker 2: what type of.
- 14:37Speaker 6: Barrel you'd use, Like it aligns with my values exactly.
- 14:41Speaker 1: So when I saw it come up, I was like,
- 14:43Speaker 1: I really really want this. It's a great investment. And
- 14:45Speaker 1: I did the five dollars rule, which I've talked about before,
- 14:48Speaker 1: figure out how many times I would have to use
- 14:49Speaker 1: something for it to cost five dollars a use, which
- 14:52Speaker 1: ended up being amazing. I'll definitely use it. My boyfriend
- 14:55Speaker 1: will use the hair dryer attachment, so it's gonna be
- 14:58Speaker 1: great anyway, the air rap because no one else was
- 15:01Speaker 1: in the office to stop me, and then.
- 15:03Speaker 2: Five minutes now, now it's my fault.
- 15:06Speaker 1: And then five minutes later, I Jess got into the
- 15:08Speaker 1: office and I went, Jess, I just brought an air
- 15:09Speaker 1: up and it's a most exciting thing everhe she went
- 15:11Speaker 1: half and then she bought one.
- 15:13Speaker 2: What she did, yeah, I would have.
- 15:14Speaker 6: It was like a secret. So there was fifteen percent off,
- 15:17Speaker 6: which brought it down to like six hundred and something dollars,
- 15:19Speaker 6: and then you could stack the coupons.
- 15:21Speaker 2: Yeah, good, good money.
- 15:22Speaker 1: When guys, I'm really proud of us because it takes
- 15:25Speaker 1: courage to make a purchase like that, and I think
- 15:30Speaker 1: that you guys need to be more excited about how
- 15:33Speaker 1: good the air Raup's going to be when we get it.
- 15:35Speaker 6: It's going to look great, and we really bonded.
- 15:37Speaker 1: We're going to look so good.
- 15:39Speaker 3: You guys will look good. I must say.
- 15:40Speaker 5: The message was all caps and it said, guys, I'm
- 15:42Speaker 5: in the office by myself.
- 15:43Speaker 3: I'm crying. Please someone come here and help. And I
- 15:46Speaker 3: got scared for a moment.
- 15:47Speaker 1: Yeah, but it was actually because it was the excitement
- 15:49Speaker 1: of the air rap.
- 15:50Speaker 2: I'm really happy for you. But do you know what
- 15:52Speaker 2: I'm being more happy about? If I got to hear
- 15:55Speaker 2: George's money win a confession?
- 15:56Speaker 1: Hello, beat that Georgia.
- 15:59Speaker 4: George, Well, I can't because this week I have a confession.
- 16:03Speaker 3: Guy.
- 16:05Speaker 4: So it was actually a couple of weeks ago I
- 16:08Speaker 4: went to the Sir the Label sale in Melbourne.
- 16:11Speaker 2: I love their stuff.
- 16:11Speaker 4: Yeah, so I was at this sale. I'd been waiting
- 16:14Speaker 4: in the line for about fifteen minutes, but I deliberately
- 16:16Speaker 4: went early because I was like, I'll just run in,
- 16:19Speaker 4: run out, get on with my day so much.
- 16:22Speaker 1: Yeah, get there.
- 16:23Speaker 4: The line is like probably three hundred meters long of
- 16:27Speaker 4: just all these young hot thangs. I did not fit in.
- 16:31Speaker 4: So anyway, I got to like half an hour waiting
- 16:33Speaker 4: the line. I was not really moving forward, but I
- 16:36Speaker 4: was like at what point do I leave? Anyway? Two
- 16:40Speaker 4: hours later?
- 16:41Speaker 2: You stayed in a line for two hours?
- 16:43Speaker 4: Yes, because I was like, it got to an hour
- 16:45Speaker 4: and I was like, I can't leave now.
- 16:46Speaker 1: Because because I've sunk an hour into this y Yeah.
- 16:48Speaker 3: So then I.
- 16:49Speaker 4: Get into the sale and it wasn't very good. No,
- 16:55Speaker 4: everything was like really expensive, nothing really suited me. So
- 16:58Speaker 4: I bought this jumper that like I didn't really like
- 17:01Speaker 4: and it was still expensive, just because I felt like
- 17:04Speaker 4: I couldn't waste two hours.
- 17:05Speaker 1: Is it the jump you're wearing now? Because I didn't.
- 17:08Speaker 4: Want to say, but it's really.
- 17:12Speaker 1: Dress?
- 17:12Speaker 3: Am I right?
- 17:13Speaker 1: Guy?
- 17:13Speaker 3: Did you stole my win? I had a non financial win,
- 17:18Speaker 3: and that was seeing Georgia in a dress room.
- 17:22Speaker 2: Someone bought the dress Georgia.
- 17:24Speaker 1: No, what I'm aware of.
- 17:26Speaker 2: You were wearing it very nicely. Thank you.
- 17:29Speaker 4: Look it's such as ugly, you know on a person
- 17:32Speaker 4: you are holding it up against.
- 17:34Speaker 2: You are correct? It actually looks like completely different skill appreciate.
- 17:39Speaker 2: Maybe update your listing to include a picture of you
- 17:42Speaker 2: in it. Ryan, Have you got a money win or
- 17:45Speaker 2: confession to share with us? I feel like everybody's a
- 17:47Speaker 2: really long winded today, and you just wait for mine.
- 17:50Speaker 2: It is also long winter is going to take not
- 17:54Speaker 2: forty minutes.
- 17:55Speaker 3: But episode I've got a confess. It's a really confession.
- 17:59Speaker 5: I've got beef with my gym who keep taking my
- 18:02Speaker 5: money despite the fact I'm telling them I'm canceling. So
- 18:06Speaker 5: in November I message them and I say, I'm canceling
- 18:10Speaker 5: my gym membership.
- 18:11Speaker 1: Is this the gym that I know you go to?
- 18:13Speaker 5: The one that we Okay, So it's in a town
- 18:16Speaker 5: that I used to live in, and I said, hey,
- 18:19Speaker 5: I'm I'm moving. I can't come to the gym anymore.
- 18:21Speaker 5: And they said, oh, well, you signed a twelve month thing.
- 18:23Speaker 5: We're nine months in. Well I think it's like you
- 18:25Speaker 5: pay fifty percent or whatever. Sure, no big deal.
- 18:28Speaker 3: So my contract was must be nice.
- 18:30Speaker 1: Yeah, no, like signed, Oh, pay fifty percent, no worries.
- 18:33Speaker 1: I signed a deal and I was in my back pocket.
- 18:35Speaker 5: I was happy to honor the deal I signed, which
- 18:38Speaker 5: finished in February. And then I was checking my bank
- 18:40Speaker 5: accounts the other.
- 18:41Speaker 1: Day and it's now May.
- 18:42Speaker 3: They're still taking it out every fortnight.
- 18:45Speaker 2: And he hadn't noticed.
- 18:46Speaker 1: He hadn't noticed. That's nice to be really three months
- 18:49Speaker 1: far out, but.
- 18:50Speaker 6: He was doing the right thing in reviewing his statement.
- 18:52Speaker 3: Thank you, thank you.
- 18:54Speaker 2: You and I both know he probably wasn't, and it
- 18:57Speaker 2: was an accident that.
- 18:57Speaker 5: He probably no, because I actually saw the tag of
- 19:01Speaker 5: the gym and I was like, I wonder if those
- 19:02Speaker 5: guys are still taking my money. So I messaged them
- 19:04Speaker 5: and I said, hey, I understand that we had the deal,
- 19:06Speaker 5: but it's been gone. I've sent you emails here, here, here,
- 19:09Speaker 5: and here. Can you please stop charging my money? And
- 19:11Speaker 5: they say, oh, you actually have to come in in person?
- 19:14Speaker 1: Are you kidding?
- 19:15Speaker 5: And I said, well, the reason I don't go to
- 19:16Speaker 5: your gym anymore is because I don't live in that town.
- 19:19Speaker 5: I moved to Melbourne. It's three hours away. Can I
- 19:22Speaker 5: just fill it out online? Can you just not take
- 19:24Speaker 5: money out of my account? Sorry, that's not how it works.
- 19:28Speaker 3: You have to come down a joke.
- 19:31Speaker 6: I would pull up your contract and check if it
- 19:34Speaker 6: says that anything.
- 19:35Speaker 5: I've pulled up consumer affairs. I called them, and I
- 19:42Speaker 5: know there's been a particular theme in the group about
- 19:45Speaker 5: gym memberships and then being really dodgy. But what's annoying
- 19:48Speaker 5: is I've been with this gym, maybe on and off
- 19:50Speaker 5: for like ten years, I reckon. I've signed up and
- 19:52Speaker 5: quit multiple times, and if I didn't work out this time,
- 19:55Speaker 5: I probably would have signed up again, you know, if
- 19:57Speaker 5: I moved another time. But now I'm like, those guys
- 20:00Speaker 5: really grind my gears.
- 20:02Speaker 6: It seems a common theme. I spent three months trying
- 20:04Speaker 6: to cancel Victorious.
- 20:05Speaker 3: Gym membership for her, who was it with?
- 20:08Speaker 1: No, I don't say no.
- 20:09Speaker 2: I'm not gonna say but mine actually sent me a
- 20:12Speaker 2: text today saying that they couldn't direct debit my account
- 20:14Speaker 2: because I drained all the money out of the account
- 20:16Speaker 2: that they were direct debiting, because they continue to take
- 20:19Speaker 2: money after Jess. And by the way, Jess is scary
- 20:22Speaker 2: on the phone. I've met her on the phone, terrifying. No,
- 20:26Speaker 2: you're just really assertive. You'll like, you do not approach
- 20:29Speaker 2: a conversation unless you've got all the receipts and all
- 20:31Speaker 2: the facts and you're absolutely in the right correct So
- 20:34Speaker 2: it's kind of scary if you're on the receiving end
- 20:37Speaker 2: of that. Anyway, you've done all of that. And yeah,
- 20:40Speaker 2: they sent me a text message today to say, oh,
- 20:42Speaker 2: you're a direct debit failed, And I'm like, yeah, I know,
- 20:44Speaker 2: because I took all the money out of that account
- 20:46Speaker 2: because you keep trying to take money from me.
- 20:48Speaker 5: So you're saying the only thing I can do is
- 20:50Speaker 5: change banks.
- 20:51Speaker 2: I don't know, because I don't even know why they're
- 20:54Speaker 2: still doing it and just did that for me back
- 20:56Speaker 2: in like December or something ridiculous.
- 20:58Speaker 1: That's like actual harass. Yeah, surely.
- 21:01Speaker 2: And we've been on the phone to them and they're like,
- 21:03Speaker 2: oh yeah, I no, nothing should come out. And I'm like, cool,
- 21:05Speaker 2: So why did I get a text message saying this
- 21:07Speaker 2: or that or yeah, I'd like them to pay me
- 21:10Speaker 2: my money back.
- 21:11Speaker 3: I've asked for a refund as well.
- 21:12Speaker 2: They won't give it to you, and they're like.
- 21:13Speaker 5: Oh, we can wave the thirty days. I was like, man,
- 21:15Speaker 5: it's been six months, you're still taking the money. There
- 21:17Speaker 5: is no thirty days. And that's also can we start
- 21:19Speaker 5: on the thirty day thing?
- 21:20Speaker 2: All right, Well, maybe I'll share my money confession. It's
- 21:24Speaker 2: been such a negative episode guys.
- 21:28Speaker 1: Sorry it is negative about me getting an air up.
- 21:31Speaker 2: Oh look, I just I actually forgot because I fell
- 21:34Speaker 2: asleep halfway through that conversation.
- 21:36Speaker 1: Oh yeah, yeah, mine was bad bloody gym membership over here.
- 21:40Speaker 1: Oh and then I went in there and then I
- 21:41Speaker 1: came back out. And then I went in there and
- 21:43Speaker 1: then I came back. I out not this Victoria asked
- 21:46Speaker 1: that it used to be Victoria Tony money in confession.
- 21:50Speaker 2: I have a money confession. It's not even a confession. Actually,
- 21:53Speaker 2: it's a bit of a money loss. So I park
- 21:56Speaker 2: my car in front of my house on the street standard.
- 22:00Speaker 3: Yeahs a house and car must.
- 22:02Speaker 1: Be Yeah, that must be nice.
- 22:03Speaker 2: Okay, cut it out anyway, park in front of my house.
- 22:07Speaker 2: And at the start of the week on Monday, for
- 22:10Speaker 2: those of you following me on Instagram, you know what
- 22:13Speaker 2: I'm going to tell you, a truck managed to clip
- 22:17Speaker 2: the front of my car and take the front bumper
- 22:19Speaker 2: off my prized possession. And I was really upset about it.
- 22:25Speaker 2: Actually very annoying, right, really annoying, and it's also something
- 22:29Speaker 2: that I look after very well. But I was initially
- 22:32Speaker 2: very miffed because there was no note. There was nothing,
- 22:35Speaker 2: and so you know, obviously the first thing you do
- 22:37Speaker 2: in this situation call your dad. So I called my
- 22:40Speaker 2: dad and Eric Vine jumped on the phone, worked out
- 22:43Speaker 2: my insurance. Let me know. I had no idea. Honestly,
- 22:45Speaker 2: I am nearly thirty, and I honestly should know better,
- 22:48Speaker 2: but my dad knows everything right, so called him. He
- 22:50Speaker 2: started sorting it out when I got a knock on
- 22:52Speaker 2: the door. Who was it? The guy who'd hit my
- 22:55Speaker 2: car coming back to give me all the insurance details.
- 22:58Speaker 2: That's nice, Yeah, it was very nice. So it's not
- 23:01Speaker 2: really a loss because obviously now I have his insurance details,
- 23:04Speaker 2: it's all going to be covered and it's not going
- 23:06Speaker 2: to impact me that financially. But I will be without
- 23:09Speaker 2: a car for a short period of time, which is
- 23:12Speaker 2: a bit annoying. So beyond the finances of it.
- 23:15Speaker 1: Like, it's the admin. Yeah, when someone hits your car
- 23:18Speaker 1: or anything to do with insurance, it's the bloody admin.
- 23:22Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 23:22Speaker 2: And I've got to go and I've got to drop
- 23:24Speaker 2: it off to get assessed and then take it home
- 23:26Speaker 2: and then I've got to go, you know, get it repaired,
- 23:29Speaker 2: and who knows how long that's going to take.
- 23:30Speaker 3: And get a car in between or something.
- 23:32Speaker 2: Yeah, I think I do. I don't know the semantics
- 23:34Speaker 2: of it just yet, but I do know that they're
- 23:36Speaker 2: worried because of the age of my car, that they're
- 23:38Speaker 2: not going to be able to get the parts, and
- 23:39Speaker 2: then it might take weeks and it's just all a
- 23:41Speaker 2: very frustrating process.
- 23:43Speaker 5: Yeah, if anyone's had a better week than any of us,
- 23:46Speaker 5: let us know. In the show notes besides Tony's air rap,
- 23:49Speaker 5: unfaced that thing at me, please, But the air.
- 23:52Speaker 2: App's good, Honestly, It's why my hair looks the way
- 23:55Speaker 2: my hair looks.
- 23:56Speaker 1: Nice.
- 24:00Speaker 2: No one compliments your hair, run John.
- 24:02Speaker 1: You've got a lot of it, thank you, which is
- 24:04Speaker 1: good for your age.
- 24:05Speaker 3: Also on my head.
- 24:05Speaker 5: Yeah. Now, so tell me what it was like when
- 24:08Speaker 5: the guy rocked up to your house. Were you mad
- 24:10Speaker 5: at him or are you thankful that he finally turns
- 24:12Speaker 5: up with his insurance stuff?
- 24:13Speaker 2: No, I was just grateful. I was honestly a little
- 24:15Speaker 2: bit confused, and I felt really bad. I'm one of
- 24:18Speaker 2: those people that where you do wrong by me, I'm
- 24:20Speaker 2: apologizing to you though. I was like, no, that's okay,
- 24:23Speaker 2: don't worry about it doesn't matter, and in Tern'm.
- 24:25Speaker 1: Glad everyone's okay.
- 24:26Speaker 2: Yeah. Look, I'm not the type of person that does
- 24:29Speaker 2: get frustrated by that stuff because I just genuinely think
- 24:32Speaker 2: it's beyond my control, Like what's anger or being upset
- 24:35Speaker 2: actually going to do in this situation, so it was
- 24:37Speaker 2: what it was. It's just a bit frustrating. And that's
- 24:41Speaker 2: my story for today.
- 24:42Speaker 1: Guys, another long winded one.
- 24:45Speaker 2: All right, thanks for the positivity. I'm so glad that
- 24:50Speaker 2: we came here.
- 24:51Speaker 5: Also a big week at that she's on the Money team.
- 24:54Speaker 5: We mentioned it earlier, but go and check out the
- 24:56Speaker 5: Property Playbook that launched this week, really exciting. Hosted by
- 25:01Speaker 5: one Tony Lodge. It teaches you how to buy a property.
- 25:04Speaker 5: Victoria Devine will help you pay for your first property,
- 25:07Speaker 5: and Amy Illuminati, which I'm pretty sure that's not how
- 25:10Speaker 5: you pronounce Iti. I just like saying the Illuminati. But
- 25:14Speaker 5: no one knows property better than her. So the combination
- 25:17Speaker 5: of v with the finance and Amy with the actual house,
- 25:19Speaker 5: the Property Playbook is really great. Number one in the
- 25:22Speaker 5: business section for a reason. You guys did a great job,
- 25:24Speaker 5: and I recommend if you want to buy your first house,
- 25:27Speaker 5: go and check out that podcast.
- 25:28Speaker 1: Oh I take it back that earlier I said you
- 25:30Speaker 1: never compliment me, but there we go.
- 25:32Speaker 2: You did kill your job on that.
- 25:34Speaker 1: Actually, well, thank you, guys, guys.
- 25:38Speaker 3: I compliment you all the time.
- 25:39Speaker 2: Yeah he does. It was a bit weird.
- 25:41Speaker 1: It was all you and Amy.
- 25:44Speaker 2: It was absolutely not all Yeamy and I and I
- 25:47Speaker 2: think that it is very timely to remind you that
- 25:49Speaker 2: we're grateful to have you on the team, Tony. But
- 25:51Speaker 2: I think that is all we have time for today.
- 25:54Speaker 2: But before we go, we'd like to acknowledge and pay
- 25:57Speaker 2: respect to Australia's Aboriginal and Torri Strait Island peoples. They're
- 26:01Speaker 2: the traditional custodians of the lands, the waterways and the
- 26:04Speaker 2: skies all across Australia. We thank you for sharing and
- 26:07Speaker 2: for caring on the land in which we are able
- 26:09Speaker 2: to learn. We pay respects to orders past and present,
- 26:12Speaker 2: and we share our friendship and our kindness.
- 26:15Speaker 4: The advice shared on She's on the Money is general
- 26:18Speaker 4: in nature and does not consider your individual circumstances. She's
- 26:22Speaker 4: on the Money exists purely for educational purposes and should
- 26:25Speaker 4: not be relied upon to make an investment or a
- 26:27Speaker 4: financial decision, and we promise Victoria Divine is an authorized
