- Ben: Good morning and welcome to your short-term rental bulletin on the 17th of July. So, good news: Britain's summer is booming and it's booming domestically. So, new research shows that 61% of Brits say they're more likely to hold it home this year. That's over 25 million people choosing a UK break. And Booking.com's summer report shows exactly where they're heading, the seaside. Searches for Morecombe are up 106%, Carnforth 86%, Exmouth up 76%, while the Lake District and the Peak District, Devon and Cornwall also top the wish lists. Wallets are open too. The average holiday budget sits at £1,526 and a third of Brits plan to spend more than usual, with extra money going on experiences and better accommodation, not flights. Some operators are already reporting bookings up 30% on last year, and with 2027 dates starting to fill, and the platforms are fanning the flames. So Verbo said this week that it's using AI on booking data to localize its summer campaigns region by region. So this is a demand curve moving your way. Secondary and coastal markets, thinner competition, cheaper stock, and value hunting. guests who will pay for a quality stay. And if your August calendar has gaps, this is your audience to price for. This summer's growth isn't in the capitals, it's on the coast. That's this week. Thank you for watching and I'll see you next week.
