- 0:34enjoy today's episode of The Hypnotist.
- 0:43Hi, it's Adam here. And in this episode of The
- 0:45Hypnotist, you're going to be listening to a weight loss.
- 0:48Hypnosis session. That was created for a.
- 0:51Client that. Had a big celebration planned in
- 0:55their diary in about 7. Months in the future and 1:00.
- 1:00Of the most powerful catalysts for change, particularly in body
- 1:04shape, is called a compelling vision of the future and in
- 1:10particular, women before a significant date in the
- 1:14calendar, like a wedding for example, because they think
- 1:18about our future. Date.
- 1:19So much and how they're going to be in photos and how they're
- 1:23going to be around other people. That clear vision of how they
- 1:27want to be in that compelling vision influences all of the
- 1:32tiny, subtle choices that lead up to that particular point.
- 1:36And that's why it's such a powerful psychological strategy.
- 1:41It also has its downside and that is that sometimes when
- 1:44these key dates pass, because the the key compelling vision of
- 1:49the future is now the past, they lose that motivation and quite
- 1:53often they gain a lot of weight that has been lost.
- 1:56And it doesn't have to be a wedding.
- 1:57It could be a holiday, it could be an award ceremony, it could
- 2:03be a Christmas or a birthday or something like that.
- 2:06Now, this particular client was a male client and they had
- 2:11essentially a wedding party that had wedding in lockdown, in
- 2:15COVID. They didn't really celebrate it
- 2:16at the time and they really wanted to have this kind of big
- 2:19celebration. So they had an idea of a venue.
- 2:22That they'd. Booked and they also had this
- 2:25idea of a reunion with some college friends, perhaps around
- 2:28a pool party, all of which was taking a place around May or
- 2:31June, so about seven months in the future.
- 2:33And what this does really is it uses certain nutritional
- 2:38strategies for weight loss combined with an element of
- 2:42association in a disassociated state.
- 2:46And they use AVR game like a simulation metaphor to get to
- 2:50the point where they can imagine playing a character who's on
- 2:53this seven month mission to turn up at one of these events the
- 2:58way that they would want to be. And they wanted the body shape
- 3:01to be not skinny or slim, but kind of athletic, lean,
- 3:06muscular, strong, but also quite mobile.
- 3:10It was almost the the physique of AUFC character, a player that
- 3:13they really wanted. And again, this is quite useful
- 3:17to kind of frame it in terms of right, well, this seven months
- 3:20will pass and that day will come.
- 3:23The only question is which version of them are they going
- 3:26to turn up at that event as and the choices they make in that
- 3:30lead up could influence that future version of them.
- 3:33And it really focuses on macros, so proteins, carbs and fats.
- 3:38But within those it's possible to make really good choices.
- 3:42Proteins generally, you know, meat and fish of of lean
- 3:46varieties, very, very good carbohydrates.
- 3:50Generally anything colourful, so colourful vegetables, colourful
- 3:54fruits, whole grains because of all the fiber, these are the
- 3:57kind of things that if you are going to have carbs, they're
- 4:00great carbs to have. And then in terms of the fats,
- 4:03eggs, it's a combination of fats and proteins.
- 4:07Certain dairy produce again, it it satiates the hunger, but it
- 4:11actually can be quite a useful way to lean fat.
- 4:15The key thing really that is helpful to reduce, to become
- 4:19leaner is really refined carbohydrates.
- 4:22This is your ultra high processed foods, generally
- 4:25things in packets or boxes, things made in factories or
- 4:29laboratories. Generally that's refined
- 4:32carbohydrates. It also tends to be one of the
- 4:35most addictive types of food because the food companies know
- 4:38that if they have an addict rather than a customer, they get
- 4:41to sell more product and therefore.
- 4:44Going for lean? Foods, natural foods, Whole
- 4:48Foods is a really good strategy, but it uses this element of the
- 4:52first few months of finding that kind of habit to train their
- 4:55brain to kind of like this food. Then it's.
- 4:58Increasing physical activity and then increasing mobility, and
- 5:03each one builds on the previous level and it almost treats it
- 5:07like a computer game. This kind of first player
- 5:10role-playing game metaphor is quite helpful because everyone
- 5:15can look at someone else's life and think, oh, it's easy.
- 5:18If that person had to lose weight, all they'd have to do is
- 5:20AB and C, and they'd probably be right.
- 5:22But it's different when you're in your own body than if you're
- 5:25looking at someone like this, someone else.
- 5:26And this taps into the ethos of disassociation.
- 5:30If you're listening to this and you like the idea of using some
- 5:33kind of combination of hypnosis and nutritional strategies to
- 5:36help you lose weight, there will be a link in the show notes.
- 5:39Or you can check out my website, adamcox.co.uk.
- 5:43Book a free consultation call, We'll have a chat, and I might
- 5:45be the right hypnotherapist to work with you so that you have a
- 5:48compelling vision for your future and that you get to be
- 5:51more of the person you want to be.
- 5:53So if that appeals, check me out.
- 5:56For now, though, this session might do what you need it to do,
- 5:59in which case, find a quiet, comfortable place where you
- 6:01won't be disturbed. Relax and enjoy the session.
- 6:41Take a deep breath in as you breathe in, breathe in a
- 6:52wonderful feeling of resourcefulness.
- 6:57And as you exhale, just allow any feelings of stress, worry,
- 7:04or tension to feel like it's melting away and leaving your
- 7:11body in that outward breath. Breathing in resourceful
- 7:21relaxation and letting go of anything that needs to be
- 7:31released. The deeper you breathe, the more
- 7:39relaxed you become. And the more relaxed you become,
- 7:45the deeper you breathe as you feel that you're drifting off to
- 7:51a place, a place of enhanced imagination.
- 7:59Imagination that is powered powered by the infinite
- 8:06possibility of your intuition. And I want you to imagine that
- 8:15your imagination itself is a portal into infinite realities.
- 8:27And I wonder if you could use the power of your imagination to
- 8:34imagine a reality of advanced technology, a place where an
- 8:45interface that could be like a virtual reality headset or
- 8:53perhaps some sensor that you place on your temple takes you
- 9:02into a different reality. So breathe in and breathe out
- 9:15and imagine standing in front of this technology.
- 9:24And I want you to imagine it's like playing a game, a
- 9:30role-playing game with a first person perspective.
- 9:40And perhaps you can imagine reading nearby instructions.
- 9:47This is a game where the choices you make open up or close
- 9:56different branches of a probability tree.
- 10:00But there is a goal, A7 month goal, to enable this character
- 10:10to experience a gathering, a celebration, and the goal is to
- 10:19be in excellent, lean physical shape.
- 10:29And it's easy to fail this game. Just choose to prioritise
- 10:36convenience and short term gratification, and by doing so
- 10:48you lead forward to a pathway of perhaps falling short of what
- 10:59could have been in this virtual reality seven months.
- 11:12We'll see more like 10 or 15 minutes and the time will pass
- 11:20anyway. The only question is what
- 11:27version of this character will turn up at that celebration or
- 11:33pool party. And I wonder if you could make
- 11:41things easy by having a framework and we can call the
- 11:48framework the rule of three. The first rule of three is 3
- 12:00phases of a plan. Phase 1 to prioritize nutrition,
- 12:07phase two to prioritize exercise, and phase three to
- 12:15prioritize mobility and movement.
- 12:21And if your unconscious agrees with the broad phasing of plans,
- 12:25let me know by nodding your head.
- 12:32And then imagine there are three macros to think about, Proteins,
- 12:39carbs, and fats. But what if each one of those
- 12:44three had three subcategories? And you could create this
- 12:51winnable game simply by prioritizing the three best
- 12:57quality sources of each macro. Imagine the proteins are best
- 13:06served from not processed food and manufactured food, but real
- 13:13food, real poultry, real fish and real steak.
- 13:25But if the majority of the protein that you consumed in
- 13:28this seven month challenge was from fresh poultry, fresh fish
- 13:35and good quality steaks, you increase the probability of
- 13:42accomplishing your mission. And then think of carbs.
- 13:49Think of the Magic 3 colourful vegetables, whole fruits and
- 14:01whole grains and already your mind is thinking of infinite
- 14:11combinations of the proteins and carbs to create delicious meals.
- 14:22The goal is not to make a 7 month journey unenjoyable, it's
- 14:30to get to the destination and enjoy the journey.
- 14:38And let's start to think of the fats.
- 14:43Three main sources of fats. Perhaps you can think of dairy
- 14:55being one of those sources. Maybe you can think of all the
- 15:06different ways in which you can consume eggs, Fried, boiled,
- 15:14scrambled, poached, all the different combinations.
- 15:20And sometimes some of those eggs would be prepared alongside
- 15:25quality oils, maybe oils that come from certain nuts or seeds,
- 15:40or perhaps from avocados. I want you to get a sense that
- 15:48even within dairy there is so much choice.
- 15:55Quality milk or yoghurts, the ones with added sugar, but the
- 16:01ones that are real, real Greek yoghurts, perhaps combined with
- 16:08nutritious berries. I want you to get a sense that
- 16:14you could accomplish this seven month challenge and really enjoy
- 16:22the journey. So imagine placing that VR
- 16:28headset over your eyes, or perhaps placing a sensor on your
- 16:34temple, and then feel that you've taken the perspective of
- 16:41a character, a character that weighs a certain amount and has
- 16:48certain habits. I want you to get a sense that
- 16:55they're used to doing certain things.
- 16:59Maybe they're prioritising things based on short term
- 17:06enjoyment or pleasure and less about this seven month quest.
- 17:14But you are now in control of this character, aware of the
- 17:20habits, the routines, the rituals, the tendencies, the
- 17:27social dynamics of friends or a partner.
- 17:32And yet you are in control of this character.
- 17:41So imagine what you do on day one of this seven month quest.
- 17:48Wouldn't it make sense to have the most enjoyable meals
- 17:51possible based on these wonderful combinations?
- 17:59Perhaps steak with a combination of vegetables, or perhaps
- 18:11chicken or Turkey with whole grains?
- 18:17Imagine it being the most delicious meal ever, realizing
- 18:23that the first few days of this quest to worry about losing
- 18:29weight, they're simply about making the game winnable, making
- 18:35it enjoyable, making it so there is no resistance, no
- 18:40frustration, No Fear of missing out.
- 18:45Maybe you could imagine a breakfast made of eggs, prepared
- 18:50just in that way. Maybe the snack is incredibly
- 18:57delicious fresh fruits. Maybe there are frozen fruits
- 19:05always on hand to add to Greek yoghurt or throw into a blender
- 19:10to make a delicious smoothie. I want you to feel like you're
- 19:17in control of this quest and for the first few days all you're
- 19:21doing is training your brain to enjoy eating this way.
- 19:28And when it feels like you've got through the 1st week
- 19:33enjoying the food that you're eating, even if it is in large
- 19:38portions, let me know by nodding your head.
- 19:51I want you to get a sense that your drink of choice is perhaps
- 19:56water or maybe those things that are low calorie.
- 20:06Black coffee, green teas, cool water with ice, whatever
- 20:17appeals. Imagine drinking it.
- 20:19You're just playing the role of a character and as the days go
- 20:26on, notice the portions get smaller.
- 20:32I want you to feel that any medication in the past that
- 20:36contributed to weight gain is now doing the opposite by making
- 20:44a change. The weight just seems to be
- 20:46falling off and as the days turn into weeks, I want you to feel
- 20:53that the majority of your protein is coming from poultry,
- 20:57fish and steak. The majority of your carbs are
- 21:01coming from colourful vegetables, fruit and whole
- 21:05grains and the majority of your fats are coming from eggs and
- 21:11good quality dairy produce. It almost feels like
- 21:20nutritionally, it feels like you've gone back in time to a
- 21:24time of real ingredients, quality ingredients.
- 21:33Perhaps. It feels like you're eating the
- 21:35same way that your ancestors used to eat and feel that
- 21:42primal, lean, strong version of you emerging from within.
- 21:50As the weeks turn into months, feel a desire to be more active,
- 21:56lifting more weights, walking or running more.
- 22:02Feel that you get to choose what you do.
- 22:07You choose how you spend your free time.
- 22:11You join a gym, try out a different gym, swim more than
- 22:17you used to, cycle If you choose, feel that there is a
- 22:22desire to be more active, I want you to get a sense.
- 22:28Then, seven months from when the game started, there will be a
- 22:36celebration. Perhaps a celebration inside an
- 22:42old Barber shop or perhaps a celebration in a house with a
- 22:49pool. But you'll be attending this
- 22:55event come what may. The only question is which
- 23:01version of you attends. And I want you to Fast forward
- 23:10and imagine how it would feel attending.
- 23:15Feeling heavy? Feeling lethargic?
- 23:23Feeling clunky? Feeling drained with energy.
- 23:31It may still be enjoyable, but I want you to feel that this is
- 23:36just one possibility. The end of 1 branch of 1
- 23:43probability pathway. But as you rewind, decide in
- 23:50advance this is an easy trade off.
- 23:55You get to enjoy your food, enjoy feeling strong and
- 24:00powerful, and arrive at this celebration as the version of
- 24:07you that you want to be. This is just a simulation, a
- 24:18game. And since it is, I want you to
- 24:22imagine switching places with a character that is playing AUFC
- 24:27fighter training for a big fight.
- 24:34Think of the specific fighter, and then you're now in their
- 24:38body. Feel that strength, that
- 24:43mobility, that looseness, that ability to be agile and fluid
- 24:48and nimble. It's strong and powerful.
- 24:53Feel that you've got all of that energy, the energy to train and
- 24:59notice the quality of food that you consume.
- 25:03You're not focused on what you can't eat.
- 25:05You're focused on what you can eat, what you choose to eat.
- 25:10And feel that all of those strategies and knowledge and
- 25:14habits are being activated so that when you return back to
- 25:19your previous character, it feels like you've downloaded all
- 25:25of those beliefs and strategies and ways of thinking, albeit in
- 25:30a body that isn't as lean as that fighter yet.
- 25:38And let's focus on the emphasis of yet.
- 25:42Because if you do what they do, the body shape of this character
- 25:46will become more like them. Feel that as the weeks turn into
- 25:53months, you increase the intensity.
- 25:58Three months have passed and nutritionally you feel like
- 26:01you've laid the foundation. You keep that nutritional focus
- 26:07and then increase physical activity, getting stronger,
- 26:14increasing your cardio fitness. Feel like you've done that for
- 26:19two months, eaten well and exercise well and see how your
- 26:26body shape has already changed. This is a winnable game.
- 26:32Maintain that nutrition and then in the final few weeks you feel
- 26:41that you are living in a character with full of energy,
- 26:44intensity, mobility and agility and just make the most of living
- 26:51this character. Do all the things that you would
- 26:55do with all of that energy, strength and mobility.
- 27:04Maybe you climb, maybe you swim, maybe there's certain sports
- 27:13that you play more of. I want you to have that same
- 27:18energy that you would have if you got to drive a sports car
- 27:24for just a week. Wouldn't you put it to its
- 27:26limits before giving the keys back?
- 27:29Feel how you would feel to put this body shape to the test, to
- 27:36do everything you would want to do.
- 27:38Feeling as strong, as flexible, as lean and as energetic as AUFC
- 27:46fighter. And then suddenly it feels like
- 27:54it's the day of a celebration. And feel how good it would feel
- 28:00to turn up. Feeling lean and strong and
- 28:05muscular. I want you to hear the
- 28:10compliments of people that haven't seen you for a while.
- 28:17You notice how often WOW comes up.
- 28:21You look great. People asking for tips, how
- 28:26you've trained, what you do and feel yourself brimming with
- 28:31pride and confidence, energy, feel it's the best day ever and
- 28:41you made it happen and all it took was a few different habits
- 28:49and decisions. Wiring it into this character
- 28:53that you're playing. And if it feels good in this
- 28:55moment, let me know by nodding your head.
- 29:09And as you experience a taste of what it feels like, feel that
- 29:12this habit continues way after this celebration.
- 29:18But it's time to leave this simulation and then feel that
- 29:24you're there taking off a headset or removing a sensor on
- 29:28your temple. But in playing this game, feel
- 29:33that you have now primed your mind.
- 29:38It's a new pathway that you can take when you return to your
- 29:43reality or your simulation. So take a deep breath in through
- 29:47your nose and out through your nose.
- 29:53Wiggle your fingers and wiggle your toes.
- 29:54Connect fully in the here and now as I now count from 1:00 to
- 29:5910:00 to awaken you. You will awaken feeling
- 30:01resourceful, confident, with a sense of clarity as to how to
- 30:06make a game winnable for you. Starting to count 123.
- 30:12Waking up 456. More alert 7-8.
- 30:17Open your eyes. Open your eyes. 910 wide awake,
- 30:22wide awake, wide awake. Thank you for listening to The
