- 0:45Lindsay replacement. Because sometimes the original Lindsay needs to go to work.
- 0:50Insert theme song here. This is the Daily Starcast. I give you the news and maybe a laugh.
- 0:55I'm Lindsay Wernick and today is Monday, August 17th, 2026.
- 1:00Surprise! I'm doing the Sarcast today, but don't get used to this because this
- 1:06is just kind of like my intro into what to expect for the next month.
- 1:10So, you know, normally at this point I would have some news for you,
- 1:14but today let's talk about the Daily Sarcast residency.
- 1:18So I will be starting to travel today over the course of the next month for work,
- 1:24which means I have officially left my apartment in New York,
- 1:28my routine, or whatever you want to call whatever I do every day,
- 1:33and most importantly, my Nespresso machine.
- 1:36And honestly, I don't know which one I'm taking harder.
- 1:39Probably the Nespresso machine.
- 1:41So while I'm gone, as you guys know, the Daily Starcast is going into residency.
- 1:46Yeah, I'm abandoning my own podcast and I'm handing it over to other people,
- 1:50which, depending on who you ask, is either a very exciting new chapter or not good at all.
- 1:56So over the course of the next month, you're going to be hearing from a few different hosts.
- 2:02Some are friends, some are comedians that I've actually never met or maybe have
- 2:07met once, and some are comedian friends.
- 2:10So I hope that you guys enjoy all of them.
- 2:13They all have different senses of humor and they are all going to keep the Daily
- 2:18Starcast going while I'm off producing a brand new tv show,
- 2:22which means for the first time since I started this podcast I'm not actually
- 2:26going to be doing it but I'm happier to keep it going rather than stopping.
- 2:32This podcast has become such a big part of my routine.
- 2:35I love going through the news every day and looking up weird news articles and
- 2:41just talking about the regular ones with the craziest headlines that,
- 2:45you know, just seem so normal.
- 2:47But now I'm going to be off somewhere in the country. I mean,
- 2:50right now I'm in Las Vegas and I'm probably going to be running around every
- 2:54morning in my hotel room at 6.30 wondering how the fuck I get an espresso.
- 3:00So let's talk about the Sarcast residency. Think of it as the Daily sarcastic,
- 3:04but Lindsay Free, which is my every one of my ex-boyfriend's favorite things to hear.
- 3:10So every guest will get their own chance to see if they have the opportunity
- 3:15to prove that this podcast can survive without me.
- 3:18This is kind of like when you're left home alone for the weekend and your parents
- 3:21are like, don't throw a party without me and then leave.
- 3:25But instead of a house, this is a podcast. And instead of alcohol, it's microphones.
- 3:31And instead of finding out someone broke a lamp, I'm going to find out someone
- 3:34spent seven minutes talking about their ex-boyfriend and I couldn't do anything about it.
- 3:40But the part that I love about this is that the Daily Starcast has always been
- 3:44a place where you can talk about what's happening around the world without taking
- 3:48it too seriously and laughing because, you know, at the end of the day is just life.
- 3:53I think it's going to be really fun for me and all of you to hear what other
- 3:57people's versions of it are.
- 3:59So over the course of the next month, please make sure that you still tune in.
- 4:03You can also feel free to go back to other episodes. I will have some special
- 4:07episodes drop throughout the course of the month just for fun.
- 4:11So make sure you stay tuned in for that too.
- 4:13And if you're listening at some point, you're like, wait, I actually want to sign up.
- 4:17Please make sure you message me or hit the sign up link and sign up because it's not too late.
- 4:24Things I will miss while I'm gone. My apartment, my bed, my normal schedule,
- 4:31which entailed waking up at like 8 a.m. and then going to the gym at 10 and
- 4:36then getting to work at like 1 o'clock.
- 4:39I'm going to miss my coffee machine. I'm going to miss just being able to hang out with my friends.
- 4:44I'm going to definitely miss doing improv and stand-up and just being able to
- 4:49go home after a long day and hang out on my couch.
- 4:53Things that I'm definitely not going to miss.
- 4:56The subway and it always getting delayed and how hot it is when you stand down by the platforms.
- 5:03Paying $18 for a salad and $18 for a coffee.
- 5:08The garbage smell on a hot New York summer day,
- 5:12dating I am not going to miss dating feel like I have to cook because there's
- 5:17food in the refrigerator and always that constant feeling that I have to be
- 5:21doing something because I live in New York City,
- 5:23I'm a very long schlep of having to get anywhere that I really want to go things
- 5:28I am excited not to think about for the next month grocery shopping,
- 5:32laundry dating,
- 5:35cooking and having to go out That is what some may call a vacation,
- 5:40but for me, that's just working 14-hour days.
- 5:43So that's where we're at with that.
- 5:45I'm officially, as I said in Las Vegas right now, I'm bopping around to a bunch
- 5:50of different cities. I'm excited to tell you guys more about the show I'm on,
- 5:53and I'm sure I'm going to have a lot, a lot of great stories when I come back.
- 5:57Definitely some trauma and even more laundry.
- 6:01Cooking tip of the day is don't buy groceries the day before you leave for a month.
