- 1:08Constance Lavonice: I am your host, Constance Lavonice.
- 1:11Constance Lavonice: What I want to share today takes place in the book of Mark, chapter 4, verses 35 through 41.
- 1:19Constance Lavonice: In Mark chapter 4, verses 35 through 41, Jesus was in a boat with his disciples after dismissing a large crowd of people that he had been teaching.
- 1:34Constance Lavonice: Verse 37 tells us, but soon a fierce storm came up.
- 1:40Constance Lavonice: High waves were breaking into the boat, and it began to fill with water.
- 1:47Constance Lavonice: Jesus was sleeping at the back of the boat, with his head on a cushion.
- 1:53Constance Lavonice: The disciples woke him up, shouting, Teacher, don't you care that we are going to drown?
- 2:01Constance Lavonice: When Jesus woke up, he rebuked the wind.
- 2:07Constance Lavonice: He admonished the wind, and said to the waves, silence, be still.
- 2:14Constance Lavonice: Suddenly the wind stopped, and there was great calm.
- 2:21Constance Lavonice: Then he asked them the disciples, Why are you afraid?
- 2:27Constance Lavonice: Do you still have no faith?
- 2:31Constance Lavonice: The disciples were absolutely terrified.
- 2:35Constance Lavonice: Who is this man?
- 2:37Constance Lavonice: They asked each other.
- 2:39Constance Lavonice: Even the wind and waves obey him.
- 2:43Constance Lavonice: The disciples had been with Jesus, learning from him, traveling with him, watching his behavior, witnessing supernatural miracles, listening to his teachings.
- 3:02Constance Lavonice: Jesus explained his teachings, but they were walking with the physical manifestation of the invisible God.
- 3:13Constance Lavonice: And when the storm hit, they questioned Jesus.
- 3:17Constance Lavonice: Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?
- 3:22Constance Lavonice: You have Jesus in the boat with you, God with them.
- 3:28Constance Lavonice: And they are questioning whether he cares.
- 3:33Constance Lavonice: Of course he does.
- 3:34Constance Lavonice: Jesus responded, Why are you afraid?
- 3:39Constance Lavonice: Do you still have no faith?
- 3:42Constance Lavonice: That question still holds true today.
- 3:45Constance Lavonice: Do you still have no faith?
- 3:50Constance Lavonice: When the storm hits the crises, that which seems to come on you suddenly and is overwhelming at that time, emotionally or mentally, and even spiritually, it can be preceded by an urgent call from a family member, an unexpected financial need, a meeting with your boss, an argument with your spouse, one of those intense moments of fellowship, a doctor's report, whatever it is, what do you do when the storm hits?
- 4:31Constance Lavonice: The storm that you're in now, the storm that you're coming out of, or the storm that you're going into unaware.
- 4:44Constance Lavonice: How do we respond as Christian women?
- 4:47Constance Lavonice: I'm going to give us three steps to consider.
- 4:51Constance Lavonice: The first is to remember God is with you.
- 4:56Constance Lavonice: He is in you.
- 4:59Constance Lavonice: The same the same spirit that raised Jesus from the dead lives in you.
- 5:08Constance Lavonice: That's in Romans eight eleven.
- 5:11Constance Lavonice: And I cannot stress that enough.
- 5:14Constance Lavonice: God is in you, He lives in you, and He is with you.
- 5:20Constance Lavonice: That's the first thing to remember.
- 5:23Constance Lavonice: In John fourteen twenty six, Jesus says, and when the Father sends the advocate as my representative, that is the Holy Spirit, he will teach you everything and remind you of everything I have told you.
- 5:42Constance Lavonice: It's written down we have God's word, everything.
- 5:48Constance Lavonice: The Holy Spirit will teach us everything, that means all, all of his promises.
- 5:55Constance Lavonice: Second Corinthians one twenty for all of the promises of God in him are yes, and in him amen to the glory of God through us.
- 6:09Constance Lavonice: Secondly, receive God's words.
- 6:12Constance Lavonice: God is always speaking.
- 6:14Constance Lavonice: He is not silent.
- 6:17Constance Lavonice: And he has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind.
- 6:23Constance Lavonice: That's in Second Timothy one seven.
- 6:27Constance Lavonice: God's word is written.
- 6:29Constance Lavonice: Get silent.
- 6:30Constance Lavonice: Listen to the voice of God.
- 6:33Constance Lavonice: The Holy Spirit will bring to remembrance all things.
- 6:37Constance Lavonice: He will teach you all things.
- 6:41Constance Lavonice: Teach is to instruct, to demonstrate, to show you how to navigate the storm.
- 6:48Constance Lavonice: And then thirdly, respond like Jesus.
- 6:52Constance Lavonice: And how did Jesus respond?
- 6:54Constance Lavonice: In faith.
- 6:56Constance Lavonice: Hebrews eleven one says faith is being sure of what you hope for and certain of what you do not see.
- 7:04Constance Lavonice: Without faith it is impossible to please God.
- 7:08Constance Lavonice: The biblical principle for Genesis fifty verse twenty is what was intended or what is intended for evil, God will use it for your good.
- 7:21Constance Lavonice: Jesus spoke to the storm.
- 7:23Constance Lavonice: He rebuked the wind and spoke to the sea.
- 7:27Constance Lavonice: Mark eleven twenty two verses twenty four, Jesus is speaking.
- 7:33Constance Lavonice: And Jesus says, have faith in God.
- 7:37Constance Lavonice: Truly, I tell you if anyone says to this mountain, go throw yourself into the sea, and does not doubt in their heart, but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them.
- 7:54Constance Lavonice: Therefore I tell you whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.
- 8:04Constance Lavonice: Speak to the mountain.
- 8:07Constance Lavonice: Speak to the circumstance.
- 8:10Constance Lavonice: God spoke, and his word changed the circumstances.
- 8:14Constance Lavonice: So we speak God's word in the power of the Holy Spirit within us.
- 8:21Constance Lavonice: 1 John 4 4, He who is in me is greater than He who is in the world.
- 8:28Constance Lavonice: 2 Timothy 1 7, God has not given me the spirit of fear.
- 8:33Constance Lavonice: Ephesians 3 20.
- 8:36Constance Lavonice: God is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that I can ask or think according to the power that works within me.
- 8:46Constance Lavonice: Luke 1 37.
- 8:49Constance Lavonice: Nothing is impossible with God.
- 8:52Constance Lavonice: Get a word, a promise, and speak that instead of the circumstance.
- 8:58Constance Lavonice: Let the word of God be upon your lips.
- 9:03Constance Lavonice: Speak life and then pray God's word, his promises.
- 9:09Constance Lavonice: One day Jesus told his disciples a story to show that they should always pray and never give up.
- 9:18Constance Lavonice: Luke eighteen one.
- 9:19Constance Lavonice: And then finally, praise God for his word.
- 9:25Constance Lavonice: I thank you, Father God, that you have given me all that I need for life and godliness.
- 9:32Constance Lavonice: I thank you that no weapon formed against me shall prosper.
- 9:36Constance Lavonice: I thank you, Father God, that you go before me, you are with me, and you are my rear guard.
- 9:45Constance Lavonice: Thank you, God, that your word is life and health to all of my body.
- 9:50Constance Lavonice: I shall enter your house with thanksgiving and your gates with praise.
- 9:55Constance Lavonice: God inhabits the praises of his people.
- 9:59Constance Lavonice: Draw near to God and he will draw near to you.
- 10:03Constance Lavonice: So when you're in a storm, you're tempted to panic or panic, be still and remember that God is with you.
- 10:15Constance Lavonice: He's in you.
- 10:17Constance Lavonice: Receive his word.
- 10:20Constance Lavonice: Go to the word and get a promise and respond like Jesus in faith.
- 10:29Constance Lavonice: Speak his word, pray his word, and praise him for his word.
- 10:37Constance Lavonice: God promises in Isaiah twenty six verse three that he will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are stayed on him because they trust him.
- 10:53Constance Lavonice: And Father God, I pray for anyone who is going through a storm right now, that they will receive a fresh anointing of the Holy Spirit and indwelling of peace that surpasses all understanding in Christ Jesus.
- 11:13Constance Lavonice: Amen.
