- 0:00SPEAKER_00: A friend of mine called me yesterday from back in the day, back in my police days, and he was talking about having to torch off probably somewhere 40, 45 pounds.
- 0:10SPEAKER_00: So fasting is easy, right?
- 0:13SPEAKER_00: Supposedly you just quit eating and then it all comes back together and you torch off all your weight and then you're happy.
- 0:20SPEAKER_00: It's not really that simple, although I guess it is, but in our human brains, there's a lot of little obstacles that we have to go through through the process.
- 0:30SPEAKER_00: One of his final questions, after we went through how long he should start at the beginning, and then maybe how he should eat after he's done fasting, and I'll I'll I'll reiterate that in just a second.
- 0:41SPEAKER_00: But he was like, Well, what am I going to tell my wife?
- 0:44SPEAKER_00: What am I going to tell my kids?
- 0:47SPEAKER_00: And yeah, that's tough because you've probably made a celebration about eating for a very long time.
- 0:55SPEAKER_00: In fact, that's why he's probably 40 or 50 pounds too heavy, too fat, stored excess, stored energy on his system, on his body, in the form of adipose tissue or body fat.
- 1:07SPEAKER_00: So that's where he is.
- 1:08SPEAKER_00: That's why his health markers are off.
- 1:10SPEAKER_00: He's got high blood pressure, he's taking statins, he's got high cholesterol, triglycerides in the blood are high.
- 1:17SPEAKER_00: So he has all of these other medical issues, mostly as a result of the obesity.
- 1:23SPEAKER_00: And then that, with the obesity, you also dull your insulin, your body's ability to handle the insulin that it's producing.
- 1:31SPEAKER_00: And then if you take it far enough, you need more and more insulin, so you have to have doctors prescribe it, and then you're injecting yourself and so on.
- 1:38SPEAKER_00: But that being kind of a side issue, it could be that food has become the center of their family's world.
- 1:47SPEAKER_00: That being the case, it's time to break up that center a little bit.
- 1:52SPEAKER_00: Going all in and just basically telling your family, when dinner comes, I'm not going to do anything, I'm not going to even be at the table.
- 1:59SPEAKER_00: Having been at the table all those years is going to be a shock.
- 2:03SPEAKER_00: My suggestion is to break it to them slowly.
- 2:06SPEAKER_00: This might be time for an intervention.
- 2:09SPEAKER_00: Maybe you've realized that fasting is the way you're going to do it because you've gotten your medical doctor's advice and you've talked to other people, you've watched a ton of videos, you're now understanding the way the mechanism works, how your metabolism will actually go up when you don't eat instead of regulating it to go down, how your growth hormone is going to go up, how their other hormones are going to go up during the fast, basically preserving muscle and clearing out a lot of the bad cells, the damaged cells, and these sort of things, things.
- 2:42SPEAKER_00: So it's not only from a health perspective, but also from a losing weight perspective, though it's a lot of different things.
- 2:49SPEAKER_00: So my suggestion would be to sit everybody down and just educate them and don't go all in and start your first fast with multiple days.
- 2:58SPEAKER_00: That's gonna really create a lot of tension.
- 3:01SPEAKER_00: And when you fast, it shouldn't be tense.
- 3:05SPEAKER_00: It should be a very calm, relaxing thing.
- 3:09SPEAKER_00: I know life, right?
- 3:10SPEAKER_00: But at least the best you can, as calm and relaxing as you can, going into it.
- 3:16SPEAKER_00: So if you are gonna do this with your family, sit everybody down and say, listen, this is what's gonna happen.
- 3:24SPEAKER_00: Your dad has been looking at fasting for a while, and I believe this is going to be the way that I'm going to start to improve my health, get off those medicines that I'm on, and hopefully reduce this body fat as well.
- 3:40SPEAKER_00: It's not going to be easy for all of us because I know how much we enjoy sitting at the table and yucking it up and eating as much as we want without a care in the world.
- 3:52SPEAKER_00: But over time it has affected my health.
- 3:55SPEAKER_00: So now I have to do something to get off that excess body fat.
- 4:01SPEAKER_00: Yes, I know I've tried over the years all these different diets.
- 4:06SPEAKER_00: I've even taken weight loss pills and medications.
- 4:09SPEAKER_00: I know I've driven you all crazy with the experience because I've been a tyrant when I'm not eating enough calories or when I believe I'm hungry, I become hangry.
- 4:21SPEAKER_00: Hungry and angry.
- 4:23SPEAKER_00: You have to be real and you have to explain you really want to do this and you really want it to work.
- 4:29SPEAKER_00: Now, will you fail?
- 4:30SPEAKER_00: Maybe.
- 4:31SPEAKER_00: As there's probably a great possibility you will.
- 4:35SPEAKER_00: But how you handle that failure is going to be the difference.
- 4:38SPEAKER_00: In the past, maybe when you failed, you kept failing.
- 4:43SPEAKER_00: Failing is somewhat contagious.
- 4:45SPEAKER_00: We sabotage ourselves very well with different things that we, different rules and laws and regulations that we want to implement.
- 4:54SPEAKER_00: If I'm not going to eat till tomorrow, or if I'm going to drive fast till tomorrow, or not have any bread for the next week or any carbohydrates for that period of time, my body just wants it.
- 5:05SPEAKER_00: Because I've told myself I can't have it.
- 5:08SPEAKER_00: So the body seeks it.
- 5:10SPEAKER_00: And every little turn you smell bread lofting from the bakery that you're driving by.
- 5:15SPEAKER_00: The people in your residence are making bread or toast.
- 5:18SPEAKER_00: And if you've gone a couple days without eating, your nose is going to be incredibly attuned to smelling things, especially food.
- 5:28SPEAKER_00: That being the case, you can inform your family.
- 5:31SPEAKER_00: I know I've tried many times.
- 5:33SPEAKER_00: I know I've probably driven you all crazy in those separate events, but I really want to try this.
- 5:41SPEAKER_00: So when you do try it, try not to continue making the mistake or continue failing.
- 5:49SPEAKER_00: When you first mess it up, if you do, and in fasting, the messing up comes by breaking it early.
- 5:56SPEAKER_00: And of course, if you have a health issue and have to break it early.
- 5:59SPEAKER_00: There's other reasons why you might want to break it.
- 6:02SPEAKER_00: But let's say everything seems to be going okay and you only broke it because you convinced yourself that you need to eat something.
- 6:10SPEAKER_00: That's out of habit, that's out of programming, that's out of something that you've done every single time in the past, and now you're doing it again.
- 6:18SPEAKER_00: In this case, when you do that again, jump back on the bandwagon.
- 6:24SPEAKER_00: You go devour that pizza, eat that box of donuts, you have all that thing of ice cream, the bag of chips, the rice, whatever it is that you're gonna be eating that destroys your plan.
- 6:35SPEAKER_00: It only just cut it a little bit.
- 6:37SPEAKER_00: Put a band-aid on it and start over.
- 6:40SPEAKER_00: Immediately, right after, say, okay, all right, I'm gonna continue, and I get to start over.
- 6:46SPEAKER_00: And just starting over.
- 6:48SPEAKER_00: If it's missing that dinner meal and you didn't you didn't miss that dinner meal because you broke it early, then the next time miss that dinner meal.
- 7:00SPEAKER_00: Trust me, if you just keep going down that path and don't beat yourself up too bad.
- 7:06SPEAKER_00: If if you had your favorite superhero sitting in front of you, they were depressed, you'd probably try to help them.
- 7:11SPEAKER_00: You need to become your favorite superhero.
- 7:14SPEAKER_00: You need to become that person that's going to vanquish this fat once and for all.
- 7:18SPEAKER_00: Fat doesn't help us, it doesn't do anything good for us.
- 7:21SPEAKER_00: It creates inflammation, it causes much more pressure inside of our bodies, that's where you got high blood pressure.
- 7:28SPEAKER_00: And also the visceral fat, that's the deadly stuff.
- 7:31SPEAKER_00: The stuff on the outside, yeah, that's one thing, and it looks like crap.
- 7:35SPEAKER_00: But when you go inside and you got visceral fat, the fat that's around your heart, your lungs, your spleen, and your stomach, I believe anybody's family would be able to understand why they want to try to fix it.
- 7:48SPEAKER_00: Now they're going to tell you, oh my God, you're not going to eat, that's dangerous.
- 7:51SPEAKER_00: Show them some videos on it.
- 7:52SPEAKER_00: Go to Santa Clarita Openhouses.com forward slash fasting and go there and look at some of my favorite videos on YouTube.
- 8:01SPEAKER_00: These are all doctors, folks, medical doctors that are real medical doctors.
- 8:05SPEAKER_00: They haven't been disdoctored or have their doctor stripped away from them.
- 8:09SPEAKER_00: They're actual real doctors, and they talk about fasting from a medical perspective.
- 8:16SPEAKER_00: Go look at that, talk to your doctor.
- 8:18SPEAKER_00: If your doctor says, oh my gosh, you can't do this.
- 8:21SPEAKER_00: If you're taking medications, just like I told this cat, you're gonna have to talk to your doctor.
- 8:25SPEAKER_00: Because when you start to fast, if you're not gonna eat for maybe more than a day, a lot of times that medicine has a different effect.
- 8:35SPEAKER_00: That medicine has a stronger effect, a more pronounced effect, because there's nothing to dull the medicine when it comes into your body.
- 8:44SPEAKER_00: It hits you a lot harder.
- 8:46SPEAKER_00: When I used to drink, and I gave that up quite a while ago, but I would fast, and then at some point with the fasting after several days, that means I wasn't drinking.
- 8:55SPEAKER_00: Well, then when I resumed drinking, oh my God, a little bit went a long way and it was really dangerous.
- 9:02SPEAKER_00: So I stopped that for a lot of reasons, but the first and foremost, I suck at it.
- 9:07SPEAKER_00: I'm not a great drinker, and also it doesn't help move the ball forward when it comes to keeping my fat down as low as I want it to be and keeping the muscle up where I'm trying to get it every single day by working out.
- 9:20SPEAKER_00: He had the questions about the family.
- 9:22SPEAKER_00: I understand.
- 9:23SPEAKER_00: I'm sure it will work, but you got to sit down and talk to everybody because it is going to be a shock.
- 9:29SPEAKER_00: Maybe there's something you can replace it with.
- 9:32SPEAKER_00: Maybe you guys can go do something else.
- 9:34SPEAKER_00: But just to stop eating altogether without any word to anybody else, it's gonna create quite a rift.
- 9:40SPEAKER_00: I'm Connor with Honor.
- 9:42SPEAKER_00: Luck favors the prepared.
- 9:43SPEAKER_00: We'll see you in the next one.
