Speaker 3: You sent that in the private chat.
• 1:32
Speaker 1: I was going to call me on it, and then
• 1:34
Speaker 1: us I was already copying it.
• 1:37
  Speaker 3: I'm so sorry. I'm a horrible person.
• 1:39
  Speaker 1: You're rude.
• 1:40
  Speaker 3: I know.
• 1:41
Speaker 2: I let's do a summary of the parent Trap nineteen
• 1:46
  Speaker 2: ninety eight.
• 1:47
Speaker 3: Because now I'm an asshole, So we have to segue twins.
• 1:53
Speaker 2: Annie and Hallie are strangers until happenstance unites them.
• 1:57
Speaker 3: The preteen girls, divorced parents Nick.
• 2:00
Speaker 2: And Elizabeth, are living on opposite sides of the Atlantic,
• 2:03
Speaker 2: each with one child.
• 2:05
Speaker 3: After meeting at camp.
• 2:06
Speaker 2: American American raised Hallie and British race Annie engineer and
• 2:11
Speaker 2: identity swap, giving both the chance to spend time with
• 2:15
Speaker 2: the parent they've missed.
• 2:16
Speaker 3: If the scheme works, it might just make the family
• 2:20
  Speaker 3: whole again.
• 2:23
  Speaker 1: Wow.
• 2:24
Speaker 2: You know what I just realized when reading that summary. Hmm,
• 2:27
Speaker 2: I wonder if twins could potentially still get away with
• 2:30
Speaker 2: like swapping because she they had to use each other's passports.
• 2:35
Speaker 1: Yeah, and I think, well, considering that it is just
• 2:38
Speaker 1: low hand playing them both. Yeah, I'm convinced. And I
• 2:43
Speaker 1: know a lot of a lot. I know identical twins,
• 2:47
Speaker 1: and there's always one tell, And if you know them
• 2:50
Speaker 1: well enough, you know the tell.
• 2:52
Speaker 3: Yeah, correct, I one hundred percent?
• 2:57
Speaker 2: Yes, yes, because even though they're identical, there's still.
• 3:00
Speaker 3: A little different, a little different, a little different. Okay,
• 3:04
Speaker 3: So answer your question, which twin are you?
• 3:07
Speaker 1: Oh? I'm probably the bullshitty American one.
• 3:11
Speaker 3: That's perfect because I'm definitely Annie.
• 3:13
Speaker 1: Exactly, So I'm the burner and earner and then like
• 3:18
Speaker 1: threatening you over a poker game and then getting all
• 3:22
Speaker 1: of my friends to hate you and that's who I am.
• 3:25
Speaker 3: Yeah, and then we just become best friends.
• 3:28
Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, not sisters, if not.
• 3:32
Speaker 2: Twins, If not sisters, if not twins, yes, yes, yes, yes.
• 3:37
  Speaker 3: So as we.
• 3:39
Speaker 2: So this is a movie that I rewatch regularly, and
• 3:42
Speaker 2: I'd like to also acknowledge that it has been twenty
• 3:45
Speaker 2: five years since this movie has released, so a lot
• 3:47
Speaker 2: has happened in those twenty five years.
• 3:50
Speaker 3: But what remains true is.
• 3:53
Speaker 2: How emotional I get during this movie, really, which parts when.
• 4:00
Speaker 3: Both of them when she when Hallie meets.
• 4:06
Speaker 2: Elizabeth is her name right, Yeah for the first.
• 4:09
Speaker 3: Time, Yeah, for the very first time, and she's just like.
• 4:14
Speaker 2: What she says, specifically something like you're here, and it
• 4:20
Speaker 2: just it's such a and she's just so happy and welcoming.
• 4:24
Speaker 3: And that's literally what you want, right.
• 4:27
  Speaker 2: I don't know if that's what you want, but that's
• 4:28
Speaker 2: all I want when I walk into a space where
• 4:31
Speaker 2: I know that people love me is to feel loved.
• 4:34
Speaker 2: And she is the embodiment of that, and poor Halle
• 4:37
Speaker 2: has never felt that love. So then you see it
• 4:39
Speaker 2: for the first time and you're just like, this is auful.
• 4:46
Speaker 1: Yeah, I do love it, and you know, there's a
• 4:48
Speaker 1: really cute grandfather figure. And I mean, are we going
• 4:53
Speaker 1: to talk about how really stupid this whole idea was
• 4:56
Speaker 1: to begin with that, Like number one, I'm convinced dona
• 4:59
Speaker 1: Is quite came up with it. I was like, this
• 5:02
  Speaker 1: is a white man's plan.
• 5:04
Speaker 3: You know, this is.
• 5:05
Speaker 2: Based on a book and then which was adapted into
• 5:08
Speaker 2: movie in nineteen sixty one, which was then reimagined for
• 5:11
  Speaker 2: nineteen ninety eight.
• 5:11
Speaker 1: Right, the only thing that I can remember by from
• 5:15
Speaker 1: the nineteen sixty one movie is I can picture what
• 5:19
Speaker 1: the almost stepmom looks like exactly.
• 5:22
Speaker 3: Yeah, I think it, And I.
• 5:23
Speaker 1: Think it's because she looks so much like what the
• 5:25
Speaker 1: almost stepmom and the sound of music looks like. And
• 5:28
Speaker 1: then I know what the twins look like, and then
• 5:30
Speaker 1: I go, I know the Let's Get together, Yeah, yeah, yeah, that.
• 5:34
Speaker 3: Was an original song for that movie. Yeah.
• 5:37
Speaker 2: So Vicky in the original is Vicky and the new
• 5:41
Speaker 2: one playing Meredith's mom, Oh, the same actress. That's my
• 5:45
Speaker 2: favorite piece of trivia that I tell everybody. And I'm
• 5:48
Speaker 2: sure if anyone who is a regular listener of pop
• 5:51
Speaker 2: culture makes me jealous has heard me say that pretty frequently.
• 5:57
Speaker 3: So I love that was a book. It was a book. Yeah,
• 6:00
Speaker 3: oh wait no, no that's right. Wait hold on.
• 6:04
Speaker 2: I read Hailey Mills's memoir and then I also did
• 6:08
Speaker 2: a bunch of stuff for Freaky Friday, the original one.
• 6:10
Speaker 2: And now I might be conflating information.
• 6:14
  Speaker 1: I don't know. I've never seen parent trap on a
• 6:18
Speaker 1: book cover. Also, I don't care if the book said.
• 6:23
Speaker 1: If the original text says that it wasn't that man's
• 6:26
Speaker 1: idea to take two twins and be like ones better
• 6:30
Speaker 1: than none and split them up between an ocehit, you
• 6:34
Speaker 1: can't convince me at all that it wasn't like that
• 6:38
Speaker 1: is a man's plan through and through like it's a mother.
• 6:45
Speaker 2: Yes, it is a book written by Eric Kassner, published
• 6:50
Speaker 2: in nineteen forty nine.
• 6:55
Speaker 3: So it was translated.
• 6:58
Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I'm well, I'm at like in like in
• 7:02
Speaker 1: my head cannon about like okay, so you're about to
• 7:05
Speaker 1: get divorced and you're looking at these two infants and
• 7:09
Speaker 1: you're trying to figure out transcontinental custody arrangements, and then
• 7:15
Speaker 1: Joe Jonas looks at you and goes, I know one
• 7:19
Speaker 1: is better than none.
• 7:21
Speaker 3: We'll just get them. Let's split them.
• 7:24
Speaker 1: And Sophie Turner would never and to think that like
• 7:28
Speaker 1: he must have taken her to court or he must
• 7:31
Speaker 1: have done something, because I'm like a mother would never.
• 7:34
Speaker 1: A mother would never be like, oh, never see one
• 7:36
Speaker 1: in my twins again. Sure a woman would never. I
• 7:41
Speaker 1: was like, this is a man's plan through and through.
• 7:44
Speaker 3: He thinks he picked something.
• 7:48
Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, And that's my piece on it, because I
• 7:54
Speaker 1: was like, because you know, you know, I get like
• 7:58
Speaker 1: real messed up with home alone of it all to
• 8:01
Speaker 1: be like parents would never.
• 8:04
Speaker 3: This is neglect, like.
• 8:07
Speaker 1: How and then everyone's in on it. The grandfather's in
• 8:11
Speaker 1: on it, the butler's in on it, Chessi's in on it.
• 8:15
Speaker 1: And it's not like Dennis Quaid and Natasha richardson rip
• 8:20
Speaker 1: were exchanging letters or.
• 8:23
Speaker 3: Updates on that break.
• 8:25
Speaker 1: Yeah, because you know, some nosey could would have found something.
• 8:29
  Speaker 3: Yeah.
• 8:30
Speaker 2: If this were twenty twenty three, this movie could not
• 8:33
Speaker 2: truly exist in a way that it does. And I
• 8:35
Speaker 2: actually think and even though I love this film, I
• 8:37
Speaker 2: actually think the nineteen sixty one version works better because
• 8:41
Speaker 2: you still have a level of anim minute and I
• 8:46
Speaker 2: can't say the word I'm able.
• 8:47
Speaker 1: To say pick a new word.
• 8:49
  Speaker 3: You still can.
• 8:50
Speaker 2: Live anonymously in a way that you can't that didn't like, yeah,
• 8:55
Speaker 2: you can have an anonymous life in nineteen ninety eight.
• 8:57
Speaker 3: With that said, he has a wine lay.
• 9:00
Speaker 2: So he's still like pretty well known and she's pretty
• 9:03
Speaker 2: famous too, right, Like that's part of the like, that's
• 9:06
Speaker 2: part of the the end of the movie, when they
• 9:11
Speaker 2: were not in the middle of the movie, that's the
• 9:12
Speaker 2: climax of the movie when everything sort of starts to
• 9:14
Speaker 2: like come to realization.
• 9:15
Speaker 3: Like the nineteen sixty one.
• 9:18
Speaker 2: Version, it's like, oh shit, this is completely random happenstance,
• 9:22
Speaker 2: Like we had this, we could have gone on living
• 9:24
Speaker 2: forever and this would have never been an issue. But
• 9:28
Speaker 2: in the nineteen ninety eight version, it's it was it's
• 9:31
  Speaker 2: a miracle.
• 9:32
Speaker 3: It only happened when they were eleven and not sooner.
• 9:35
Speaker 1: It's very Sister Sister where they make it all the
• 9:38
Speaker 1: way to teens, and that was an adoption to show
• 9:42
Speaker 1: that was a we we happen to adopt twins and
• 9:46
Speaker 1: now they're at the same high school, more plausible in
• 9:48
Speaker 1: my head than a mother. And you're like, sure, let's
• 9:51
Speaker 1: split the infants down the middle.
• 9:53
Speaker 3: Right, right, which twin do you say?
• 9:57
Speaker 1: Which which twin gets to be British in which one
• 10:00
Speaker 1: gets to be an American asshole? Let's go ahead. Thank
• 10:06
Speaker 1: god that they both like lived pretty white, privileged lives, because,
• 10:12
Speaker 1: as you know, I'm a free form slut. If you
• 10:15
Speaker 1: want to put a teen soap drama on free Form,
• 10:18
Speaker 1: I'm going to eat it like it was my favorite
• 10:20
Speaker 1: ice cream. So I was obsessed to the point where
• 10:24
Speaker 1: I was convinced it was teaching me sign language. Switched
• 10:27
Speaker 1: at Earth on yeah, free Form, where one of the children,
• 10:34
Speaker 1: due to poverty, healthcare insurance issues, or whatever, ends up
• 10:38
Speaker 1: death and one lives in poverty while the other one
• 10:42
Speaker 1: lives a very bougie white lady lifestyle in the good neighborhood.
• 10:47
Speaker 1: And I'm like, oh, it's like a grittier parent trap.
• 10:50
Speaker 2: Yeah, it truly is, okay, But okay, can I switch
• 10:55
Speaker 2: his scars a little bit?
• 10:58
Speaker 3: So the opening is, you know they need camp. Yeah.
• 11:01
Speaker 3: I love Camp camp Walden.
• 11:04
  Speaker 1: Yeah.
• 11:05
Speaker 2: Camp Walden has Native American names for all of their housing.
• 11:09
  Speaker 3: Sure does.
• 11:09
Speaker 1: It's probably on indigenous land.
• 11:13
Speaker 2: Because they're in Maine and there is a large Indigenous
• 11:16
Speaker 2: population up there that sort of bleeds over America and
• 11:21
Speaker 2: Canada because apparently because we're obsessed with borders, even though
• 11:24
Speaker 2: they've been there since like the dawning of the ages.
• 11:27
Speaker 1: And I'm also trying to remember if in the nineties
• 11:30
Speaker 1: in the two thousands, that was a really big thing
• 11:32
Speaker 1: that was happening in like the Boy Scouts or the
• 11:35
Speaker 1: Girl Scouts of our lives as we know. I dropped
• 11:38
Speaker 1: out of Girl Scouts after one year. I found it
• 11:41
Speaker 1: insanely boring. Yeah, my sister had a completely different Girl
• 11:45
Speaker 1: Scout troop. Got to ride horses, got to do overnights,
• 11:48
Speaker 1: got to see owls, thrilling. My age group for Girl
• 11:54
Speaker 1: Scouts was like literally like gluing fake animal for Onto magnets.
• 12:00
Speaker 2: And I was like, oh my god, I could do
• 12:03
Speaker 2: this at home by myself.
• 12:05
Speaker 1: I could do this at home by myself, and my
• 12:07
Speaker 1: social battery is depleting. So I have no idea if
• 12:12
Speaker 1: that's it feels like every time we were outside in
• 12:15
Speaker 1: a group in the nineties or two thousands, we were
• 12:18
Speaker 1: somehow encroaching on indigenous land because.
• 12:22
Speaker 2: And appropriating like customs in a way that's so watered
• 12:26
  Speaker 2: down that it.
• 12:28
Speaker 3: When you you know what I mean, it was just.
• 12:30
Speaker 2: Kind of like always like, hey, we're gonna kind of
• 12:34
Speaker 2: do like indigenous things, but we're gonna do the white version.
• 12:37
Speaker 3: But that's not how they called it. They're just like
• 12:39
Speaker 3: looking as being cool.
• 12:41
Speaker 1: I very much went to an elementary school where four
• 12:44
Speaker 1: grandparents day in the fall, you did pow wows or
• 12:48
Speaker 1: Thanksgiving and they and the gym teacher pretended to be
• 12:53
Speaker 1: able to teach you a pow wow routine, and then
• 12:57
Speaker 1: in the spring for Mommy's muffins Day or whatever the fuck,
• 13:01
Speaker 1: it would be squared dancing, because they're equivalent in the Midwest.
• 13:06
Speaker 1: In the Midwest, they're like culture, how well square dancing?
• 13:10
Speaker 2: The history behind square dancing you can think Henry Ford
• 13:13
Speaker 2: for because he like got real insecure about like non
• 13:20
Speaker 2: white people and things like seeping their way into culture.
• 13:25
Speaker 3: So he was like, you know, how we can ensure
• 13:27
  Speaker 3: good white.
• 13:29
Speaker 2: Values square dancing, And to this day it's required curriculum
• 13:35
Speaker 2: and physical education classes.
• 13:37
Speaker 3: So that's like the water down version.
• 13:39
Speaker 2: It's like way more uh sinister than what I've offered.
• 13:45
  Speaker 3: But that's that's your reader's digest version.
• 13:47
Speaker 1: I guess. Also, do you want to know how much
• 13:50
Speaker 1: you don't want to be a third grader Josie doing
• 13:53
Speaker 1: with another third grader touching some gross boy.
• 13:57
Speaker 3: From the computer class. You don't want?
• 14:00
Speaker 1: No. And every field trip I went to, and I
• 14:04
Speaker 1: didn't know if this was just like a Midwest thin
• 14:07
Speaker 1: or if every state, because every state kicked out indigenous people,
• 14:12
Speaker 1: had this too. Every one of my outdoor field trips
• 14:16
Speaker 1: had like white people telling me about indigenous Native American
• 14:21
Speaker 1: culture and the tribes that lived on the land that
• 14:25
Speaker 1: we were standing on. But there would also be like
• 14:27
Speaker 1: a farm. It's like, so this is where the settlers lived.
• 14:31
Speaker 1: This is Bessie the cow. I'd be like, oh, the cow.
• 14:34
Speaker 1: And then they'd be like, try this maple syrup. We
• 14:37
Speaker 1: tapped it from the tree today, and then they and
• 14:40
Speaker 1: that would be the only thing you got to eat
• 14:42
Speaker 1: that day. And I was a fat kid, and I
• 14:44
Speaker 1: was like, my blood sugar is crashing, and you just
• 14:47
Speaker 1: put a little bit of maple syrup on my finger
• 14:51
Speaker 1: and went that'll do you until you're back on the bus, right,
• 14:55
Speaker 1: And then we're tramping through the woods, to the indigenous
• 14:59
Speaker 1: camp to be like and then this is where the
• 15:04
Speaker 1: indigenous people lived, and it's like a fire pit and
• 15:09
Speaker 1: like a patch of like a hammock type thing. Yeah,
• 15:14
Speaker 1: And I'm like, this is a lot of white people
• 15:16
Speaker 1: are teaching me about not white people.
• 15:19
Speaker 3: Yeah, I you know. And it's interesting too because in the.
• 15:23
Speaker 2: And we're we're not here to compare the original to
• 15:25
Speaker 2: the nineteen ninety eight version, just the original seared into
• 15:28
Speaker 2: my brain because I'm convinced my mother wanted to be
• 15:31
Speaker 2: Hailey Mills at some point in her life and have
• 15:33
Speaker 2: her career. We like, even in the original, they're like,
• 15:38
Speaker 2: there's a neighboring camp that's boys and it also has
• 15:42
Speaker 2: you know, uh a native name to it. And You're
• 15:45
Speaker 2: just like, what is going on in the middle of
• 15:48
Speaker 2: the twentieth century to late twentieth century that we are
• 15:51
Speaker 2: so obsessed but we don't acknowledge the horrors of any
• 15:56
Speaker 2: of it, you know what I mean?
• 15:57
Speaker 1: Why are you acting like that doesn't happen in twenty
• 15:59
Speaker 1: twenty three? Look how white people love to chuck a
• 16:01
Speaker 1: margarita during Sinco de Mayo.
• 16:03
Speaker 2: Yeah, no, I know that's true because white people definitely
• 16:06
Speaker 2: meant to Taco Tuesday, like that is not a thing, like.
• 16:09
Speaker 3: With white people tacos.
• 16:10
Speaker 1: Remember when TikTok was first brand new and they were like,
• 16:13
Speaker 1: and you'd like, make I love a white people taco
• 16:16
Speaker 1: because that's what me as a white person grew up
• 16:19
Speaker 1: with on Taco Tuesday and be like, what people tacos
• 16:22
Speaker 1: got to get my shred and lit his shred, and
• 16:24
Speaker 1: let is for my white people. So think of Sinco
• 16:30
Speaker 1: de Mayo. Think, I mean, Juneteenth had two years of
• 16:38
Speaker 1: people not bringing just their whiteness to it. But if
• 16:42
  Speaker 1: you don't think that that's coming, it's I.
• 16:45
Speaker 3: Mean it already is.
• 16:46
Speaker 2: Because Walmart tried to do an ice cream for Juneteenth
• 16:49
Speaker 2: in a way that just felt really itchy.
• 16:51
Speaker 3: I think it was Walmart.
• 16:52
Speaker 1: No Ben and Jerry's has one too.
• 16:57
Speaker 2: Like Walmart some or maybe it's not specifically Walmart brand,
• 17:02
Speaker 2: but whoever found it was in Walmart. This ice cream
• 17:04
Speaker 2: company was literally trying to trademark Juneteenth for their ice cream.
• 17:10
  Speaker 3: Like it's egregious.
• 17:13
Speaker 1: I feel like the child's version of Sinco Demio because
• 17:18
Speaker 1: you can't slam a margarita for Cinco Demio as a
• 17:22
Speaker 1: fourth grader, is we will inappropriately teach you the Thanksgiving
• 17:27
Speaker 1: story and how Pilgrims loved the Indians until they didn't.
• 17:32
  Speaker 3: Right right.
• 17:34
Speaker 2: So yeah, So like that opening scene with like camp
• 17:36
Speaker 2: Walden and then they're like, Ali James, you're in I
• 17:40
Speaker 2: forget what the name was that she rattled that Janie
• 17:43
Speaker 2: rattled off, and I was just like, Oh, this might
• 17:46
Speaker 2: be the only part of the movie that doesn't age well.
• 17:49
Speaker 1: Also, I'm a fairly recent ex teacher. We're still not
• 17:52
Speaker 1: teaching it right in schools. Yeah. I had a teacher
• 17:56
Speaker 1: in who was a man of color, and here I
• 17:58
Speaker 1: am talking about butter and like fucking log cabins or whatever,
• 18:01
Speaker 1: and he goes, Sis, you're not gonna tell You're not
• 18:05
Speaker 1: going to tell them what the what the colonizers did
• 18:07
Speaker 1: after they made their butter.
• 18:09
Speaker 3: And I was like, we have to get through.
• 18:10
Speaker 1: This one reader, and then maybe we could have story
• 18:13
Speaker 1: time about what truly happened right with the colonialists, right right,
• 18:26
Speaker 1: and I will do that. Horrific I've told you so
• 18:28
Speaker 1: many horrific stories about white people in Indiana, just being like.
• 18:35
Speaker 3: We should be able to just make jokes.
• 18:37
Speaker 1: And stories and mockeries of anything and everything that has
• 18:41
Speaker 1: to do with the fact that we're living on indigenous ground, right,
• 18:46
Speaker 1: take it all back, take it from the white people.
• 18:52
Speaker 2: One of the things though, during those when they were
• 18:54
Speaker 2: at camp that like made me cringe as a parent
• 18:57
  Speaker 2: was when she's.
• 18:57
Speaker 3: Like, here's the needle I'm gonna pierce your ears and it.
• 19:00
Speaker 2: Wasn't It was like a dull looking needle and she
• 19:05
Speaker 2: just lights a match for like this little on fire
• 19:07
  Speaker 2: three seconds.
• 19:08
Speaker 3: It's like sterilized, and I was.
• 19:10
Speaker 1: Like, shit, like that happens at camp. Have you not
• 19:14
Speaker 1: been a summer camp.
• 19:15
Speaker 2: No, I've never been to overnight camp. I've never been
• 19:18
Speaker 2: to sleep away camp. I went to sixth grade camp
• 19:21
Speaker 2: because that was a school sanctioned thing. And then outside
• 19:26
Speaker 2: of that, because it was like you could go to
• 19:28
Speaker 2: Mexico on a missions trip, which is modern day colonization.
• 19:31
  Speaker 2: So I'm not doing I wasn't.
• 19:32
Speaker 3: Gonna do that, but I but as you know, punk
• 19:37
Speaker 3: rock was my life for a very long time. So
• 19:40
Speaker 3: to see this and so why I've seen people pierce
• 19:43
Speaker 3: their own ears with needles, they were sharp.
• 19:47
Speaker 2: Yes, this one was like here's a metal rod I'm
• 19:51
Speaker 2: going to shove through slope and I just had this
• 19:55
Speaker 2: moment of like, oh, honey, you don't have anything sharper
• 19:58
Speaker 2: than that, but I guess you wouldn't because well, you're like,
• 20:01
Speaker 2: they're probably like, you can't bring sharp, sharp items to camp.
• 20:04
  Speaker 3: I don't know. I don't know.
• 20:06
Speaker 1: I think I've seen people do it with safety pins.
• 20:09
Speaker 3: Yeah, that's how we did it.
• 20:12
Speaker 1: And I think my memory filled in a safety pin
• 20:14
  Speaker 1: for that.
• 20:15
Speaker 3: I thought it was a safety pen that she used
• 20:17
  Speaker 3: for it.
• 20:18
Speaker 1: Clearly not now, but yeah, sleep away camp, which I
• 20:23
Speaker 1: did at Gifted and Talented Camp where my parents used
• 20:26
Speaker 1: to go to college. Because I don't know if we
• 20:28
Speaker 1: know this, but I'm very smart. That's the only reason
• 20:32
Speaker 1: I know what a tampon is. No one was going
• 20:34
Speaker 1: to tell me what a tampon was. But someone got
• 20:37
Speaker 1: their period during the school year, had their period at
• 20:41
Speaker 1: camp and did a whole show and tell what was
• 20:43
  Speaker 1: her name?
• 20:44
Speaker 3: Margaret? Mm hmm, because that's how are you their god
• 20:47
  Speaker 3: to me? Margarets.
• 20:48
Speaker 1: No, she was one of I do not remember her name.
• 20:51
Speaker 1: It may have been Gabby, but that could also be
• 20:54
Speaker 1: a woman I went to college with. Yeah, I do
• 20:57
Speaker 1: know that she was one of the few women of
• 21:00
Speaker 1: color in my like dorm for Gifted in Talented Camp.
• 21:05
Speaker 1: And she did a whole ass show and tell now
• 21:08
Speaker 1: was gonna do that for me?
• 21:10
  Speaker 3: Yeah?
• 21:11
Speaker 2: So I well, I always felt like maybe I was
• 21:13
Speaker 2: missing out on a cultural experience by never going to
• 21:15
  Speaker 2: sleep away camp.
• 21:16
Speaker 1: I understand that is the fucking best. That's why I
• 21:20
Speaker 1: love Murder Mysteries because the camp counselors threw us a
• 21:24
Speaker 1: dinner theater clue inspired Murder Mystery.
• 21:27
Speaker 3: Oh I love that.
• 21:28
Speaker 2: See and then, and now that I'm remembering it, my
• 21:31
Speaker 2: church the Junior High did like a weekend retreat. It's
• 21:36
Speaker 2: not the same because it's like it's like we're going
• 21:39
Speaker 2: to sing about how much we love God.
• 21:41
  Speaker 3: You know.
• 21:42
Speaker 1: I think it's very trendy that adults now have summer camps.
• 21:45
Speaker 1: There are like now adult summer camps. We can everyone
• 21:48
Speaker 1: are venmos and all of the ways that you can
• 21:51
Speaker 1: support both of our shows and Julia gaining to go
• 21:54
Speaker 1: to summer camp sleep away camp for the very first
• 21:56
Speaker 1: time are in all of our biots. Look, Julia's never
• 22:01
Speaker 1: been to summer camp. That's true.
• 22:03
Speaker 3: We can get her there.
• 22:04
Speaker 1: Twenty twenty four Summer twenty twenty four Adult Summer sleep
• 22:08
Speaker 1: Away Camp. She can't go alone. She won't know how
• 22:11
Speaker 1: to do it. I have to go with her.
• 22:12
  Speaker 3: It's true.
• 22:13
Speaker 2: I do need a handler because if it wasn't revolving
• 22:16
Speaker 2: around Jesus, I wasn't allowed to do it.
• 22:20
Speaker 3: Oh that's wild. Okay.
• 22:23
Speaker 1: That truly drives me wild.
• 22:26
Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm sorry. Okay.
• 22:27
Speaker 2: So I want to get There's like so much I
• 22:30
Speaker 2: want to get into Natalie, and I don't even know
• 22:32
Speaker 2: like where to begin.
• 22:33
Speaker 3: I do want to add.
• 22:34
Speaker 2: Another emotional thing that I had is when she comes
• 22:38
Speaker 2: home and meets the grandfather for the first time. That's
• 22:41
Speaker 2: one of my favorite scenes for a multiple for a
• 22:44
Speaker 2: lot of reasons, and the main one is is that
• 22:46
Speaker 2: is exactly how it's done in the nineteen sixty one version,
• 22:50
Speaker 2: and it's perfect because it still has the right modern
• 22:55
Speaker 2: vibe but still feels nostalgic in a way that if
• 23:00
Speaker 2: you haven't seen the sixty one version, you're still gonna
• 23:02
Speaker 2: have all the fields and emotions, even I mean down
• 23:05
  Speaker 2: to the lines.
• 23:07
Speaker 3: Is that my girl, that tall, gangly thing?
• 23:11
Speaker 2: And then she's like, I'm making a memory. They change
• 23:15
Speaker 2: I think it's pipe tobacco in the nineteen ninety eight
• 23:18
Speaker 2: version and it's just straight tobacco, and the sixty one
• 23:21
Speaker 2: version but like, to me, that scene is so beautiful.
• 23:25
Speaker 3: It is so beautiful.
• 23:26
Speaker 1: And as you know, I have a prominent grandfather in
• 23:29
Speaker 1: my life, so I adopted other people's yeah, and I'd
• 23:33
Speaker 1: be like, you're my grandpa, now, good for you. Yeah,
• 23:36
Speaker 1: But I never got to like smell someone else's grandpa
• 23:40
Speaker 1: and make a memory or really smell my own grandfathers.
• 23:43
  Speaker 3: Yeah.
• 23:45
Speaker 2: Yeah, it's just this tear jerky moment that if I
• 23:48
Speaker 2: don't know, there's something about it. I also do want
• 23:52
Speaker 2: to say, I think that watching this movie on the
• 23:56
Speaker 2: heels of watching a Nora Efron movie last week, and
• 23:58
Speaker 2: Nora Efron is deemed like the Queen of rom coms,
• 24:01
Speaker 2: who like is a brilliant genius because she's denominated so
• 24:04
Speaker 2: many times for her work and all these things. Nancy
• 24:07
Speaker 2: Myers doesn't really get the same sort of clout that
• 24:09
Speaker 2: I think she deserves because there are so many elements
• 24:13
Speaker 2: to Nancy Myers movies that also kind of feel similar,
• 24:17
  Speaker 2: not the same.
• 24:19
Speaker 3: But it's still very nostalgic for an old movie, movies
• 24:23
  Speaker 3: of old.
• 24:24
Speaker 2: There were so many scenes like when Natasha and Natasha
• 24:28
Speaker 2: that's her real name, well.
• 24:30
  Speaker 3: Elizabeth and.
• 24:34
Speaker 2: Nick are in the basement, in the wine cellar, and
• 24:36
Speaker 2: he's like showing her, I have all the wine labels
• 24:41
Speaker 2: from that were served at our wedding, and you're just like,
• 24:44
Speaker 2: oh my god, that's so fucking romantic. But then she's like,
• 24:47
  Speaker 2: I can't and then backs up and it's like a
• 24:49
Speaker 2: shadow on her face and then it's illuminated across Like
• 24:53
Speaker 2: that feels so old Hollywood. And there's so many moments
• 24:56
Speaker 2: like that, not just in this movie, but then in like, oh,
• 25:00
Speaker 2: almost every Nancy Meyers.
• 25:01
Speaker 1: Movie him me with some other Nancy Meyers movies.
• 25:05
  Speaker 2: Okay, it's complicated, which isn't I wouldn't necessarily recommend.
• 25:11
Speaker 1: That on that movie is.
• 25:14
Speaker 3: Alec Baldwin? Is Alec Baldwin.
• 25:17
Speaker 1: I hated that movie. I very much did not like it.
• 25:22
Speaker 3: Yeah, and I don't blame you.
• 25:24
Speaker 2: She did all of the Father of the Brides, she
• 25:26
Speaker 2: did The Holiday, she did Something's gotta give. I don't
• 25:29
Speaker 2: think we have the Father of the Brides on our list,
• 25:32
Speaker 2: and how how do we not? She did Baby Boom, well,
• 25:36
Speaker 2: she wrote Baby Boom. I don't know if in terms
• 25:39
Speaker 2: of directing, she did Oh Parent Trap looks like it
• 25:45
Speaker 2: was her first director director.
• 25:47
Speaker 3: Of her directorial debut if.
• 25:50
Speaker 2: You will, And maybe that's why, Maybe that's why she
• 25:52
Speaker 2: doesn't get the same like as sort of standing that
• 25:57
Speaker 2: Nora Efron gets because her directing debut came later. But
• 26:00
Speaker 2: she's been writing stuff since the eighties.
• 26:04
Speaker 3: She wrote Baby Boom for Christ's Sake, the Diane Keaton movie.
• 26:08
  Speaker 1: I don't think i've seen Baby Boom.
• 26:10
Speaker 3: Oh, it's a great film, great film.
• 26:13
Speaker 1: I was thinking that watching this one after Freaky Friday
• 26:18
Speaker 1: made me realize that to me, the parent trap is
• 26:24
Speaker 1: the standard for kids movies that also involve adults, yeah,
• 26:30
Speaker 1: or adult rom coms that also involve kids. Yeah. And
• 26:34
Speaker 1: maybe that's why, in comparison, Freaky Friday feels so shallow,
• 26:39
Speaker 1: because parent trap lets you sit in the emotions and
• 26:44
Speaker 1: it's not easy. It's not like, Okay, Nick saw Lizzie
• 26:50
Speaker 1: and now they're in love. No, there's a whole other
• 26:52
Speaker 1: forty five minutes to the movie.
• 26:54
Speaker 2: Right, and then the back and like the way that
• 26:56
Speaker 2: they present the backstory is really it's really simple and quick,
• 27:00
Speaker 2: but you get just enough to understand that there's a
• 27:03
Speaker 2: whole lot of complicated mess within those eleven years after
• 27:07
Speaker 2: everything sort of fell apart.
• 27:10
Speaker 3: I do feel like there is.
• 27:19
  Speaker 1: You.
• 27:19
Speaker 2: And I've talked about this because I'm going towards Meredith Blake.
• 27:22
Speaker 1: Now I love Meredith Blake.
• 27:25
  Speaker 3: So I have a couple.
• 27:27
Speaker 2: I have a couple of different points, the first one
• 27:29
Speaker 2: being you and I talk about this all the time.
• 27:32
Speaker 2: There's they sidestep, but also sort of minimally address the
• 27:38
Speaker 2: age gap. Yeah, she's twenty fifteen years at minimum, because
• 27:44
Speaker 2: he's at least forty. He's at least forty. Oh, so
• 27:49
Speaker 2: she's twenty six between Nick and.
• 27:56
  Speaker 3: Meredith.
• 27:56
Speaker 2: And then yeah, it is fifteen years between Hey and
• 28:01
Speaker 2: Annie and Meredith because they're eleven, they're gonna be twelve
• 28:05
Speaker 2: and you know in the fall.
• 28:05
Speaker 1: Oh that's where I got fifteen.
• 28:07
Speaker 2: Yeah, and they've only been dating for eight weeks, Like
• 28:13
  Speaker 2: this is fast.
• 28:15
  Speaker 1: Well, and also I don't think I realized as a
• 28:18
Speaker 1: child how much Chessie is on it. She's like, oh, yeah,
• 28:21
Speaker 1: this young floozy flies in from somewhere. She knows Facebook.
• 28:25
Speaker 1: She's going to put your dad on the social media map,
• 28:29
Speaker 1: and next thing I know, they're kissing him, fucking and
• 28:34
Speaker 1: now she's gonna marry him. After eight weeks. I was like,
• 28:37
Speaker 1: oh no, that is gold digger behavior.
• 28:40
Speaker 2: Yeah, so they really set her up to be because
• 28:43
Speaker 2: you know, the message is always, well, the younger women
• 28:46
Speaker 2: are always seducing the older men, so they really set
• 28:49
Speaker 2: that up in this film. She is absolutely set up
• 28:53
Speaker 2: as the predator in this scenario.
• 28:56
Speaker 1: She is so sexually charged. It the sexual charge of
• 29:01
Speaker 1: Meredith does not break until she has that one on
• 29:04
Speaker 1: on one conversation with Hallie Annie, because up until then,
• 29:12
Speaker 1: every time you see Meredith, the music changes, there are
• 29:16
Speaker 1: close ups on different parts of her body, she's in
• 29:19
Speaker 1: someone's lap. Yeah, And she is so sexually charged whenever
• 29:25
Speaker 1: she talks to Nick, because she's got a goal and
• 29:27
Speaker 1: she's gonna get it. And I think that's what builds
• 29:31
Speaker 1: the stark contrast to be like, because you know, I
• 29:35
Speaker 1: grew up with Jessica Rabbit. I was like, Oh, sexy
• 29:37
Speaker 1: ladies are fun, sexually charged ladies, that's who you want
• 29:42
Speaker 1: to be. But what makes your brain flip into oh no,
• 29:45
Speaker 1: she's the villain mode is because as soon as Nick
• 29:48
Speaker 1: isn't in the picture, she's so goddamn mean to those.
• 29:51
Speaker 2: Gets right right, and it very much is that like, oh,
• 29:56
Speaker 2: women can't cohabitate, They can't coexist, regardless of their age.
• 30:01
Speaker 3: Because why are you trying to compete with an eleven
• 30:04
  Speaker 3: year old?
• 30:04
Speaker 1: An eleven year old.
• 30:06
Speaker 3: Like that makes no sense. That's gross.
• 30:08
Speaker 1: Also the way that Lindsay Lohan holds her own in
• 30:11
  Speaker 1: those confrontations, Lindsay.
• 30:14
  Speaker 3: Loewen the Queen.
• 30:16
Speaker 2: I wish that she had had a different life, different parents,
• 30:19
Speaker 2: because she was so talented. I watched the behind, like
• 30:22
Speaker 2: there is this how Annie turns into how Lindsay turns
• 30:26
Speaker 2: into Annie and whatever. It's a special feature that. Yeah,
• 30:33
Speaker 2: And so like just watching her be interviewed in like
• 30:37
Speaker 2: the way she's talking in those interviews, she's very skilled,
• 30:40
Speaker 2: Like she knows she's not a dummy dumb dumb dumb
• 30:43
Speaker 2: for being eleven or whatever. She's very intelligent for an
• 30:48
Speaker 2: eleven year old speaking about very technical things, right, Like
• 30:53
Speaker 2: I couldn't have told you before I watched this anything
• 30:57
Speaker 2: about how they had to do the switcheroo, Like I
• 31:00
Speaker 2: wouldn't have had the language at all.
• 31:02
Speaker 1: When I was a child. I was very old before
• 31:05
Speaker 1: I realized that Lindsay Lohan was not a twin.
• 31:08
Speaker 2: Yeah, a lot of people were very confused that everyone
• 31:12
Speaker 2: thought it was actual twins and not a different girl.
• 31:17
Speaker 2: And they used a lot of blue screen, which I
• 31:18
Speaker 2: thought was really cool because they showed they walk you through,
• 31:22
Speaker 2: So if anybody hasn't seen it, they really should just
• 31:25
Speaker 2: watch the extras. And it's like the bonus little bit
• 31:27
Speaker 2: about how they how they filmed it, and they had,
• 31:31
Speaker 2: like I think he said, they had like ten stand
• 31:33
Speaker 2: ins that were all the same height, same hair color,
• 31:37
Speaker 2: same age, and so they used a lot of stand
• 31:39
Speaker 2: ins and then they would blue screen a lot of
• 31:41
Speaker 2: stuff and then layer that over and it's nineteen ninety
• 31:44
Speaker 2: eight technology. But it's still really interesting, yeah, because for
• 31:48
Speaker 2: the time it stayed in the.
• 31:49
Speaker 1: Art well and it doesn't look as cheesy as the
• 31:54
Speaker 1: now what we know Jurassic Park of our current age.
• 31:57
Speaker 1: The reboots are Jurassic Park, and the boots of Star
• 32:02
Speaker 1: Wars look like when it just looks so overly done
• 32:06
Speaker 1: and you're like this is too clean, it actually creeps
• 32:08
  Speaker 1: me out.
• 32:09
Speaker 3: Yeah yeah. So yeah, so that was my thoughts about
• 32:14
  Speaker 3: Emeredith Blake.
• 32:15
Speaker 2: But then I also remembered that there is a theory
• 32:18
Speaker 2: going around social media.
• 32:21
Speaker 3: Have you heard it?
• 32:24
Speaker 1: Oh, it's the Gaston where it's like, well, if everyone
• 32:27
Speaker 1: would have just been nice to Meredith, or if Belle
• 32:29
Speaker 1: would have been nicer to Gaston, there'd be no villain
• 32:33
Speaker 1: in the story. And I think a lot of millennial
• 32:37
Speaker 1: women found themselves to be stepmoms, but we grew up
• 32:40
Speaker 1: with the evil stepmom trope, so now we have to
• 32:43
Speaker 1: like tear down like Cinderella and all these other little
• 32:46
Speaker 1: hoes that made it impossible to want to be a stepmom.
• 32:51
Speaker 1: She care can't be villains in their own abuse story,
• 32:54
Speaker 1: like she's so mean.
• 32:57
Speaker 2: Yeah, because here's the thing, like the idea of twins
• 33:00
Speaker 2: being the real villain. I was thinking about it today
• 33:02
Speaker 2: when I was watching the movie, and I thought, if
• 33:04
Speaker 2: I'm eleven and I go away for eight weeks and
• 33:08
Speaker 2: I come home and my dad's like, guess what, I'm
• 33:10
Speaker 2: in changing your entire life and you had nothing to
• 33:15
Speaker 2: do with the decision because you were gone, and I
• 33:17
Speaker 2: made the decision for you.
• 33:19
Speaker 3: But also I missed you so much.
• 33:20
Speaker 1: Don't ever look me again so much.
• 33:24
Speaker 2: Like of course you're gonna be a brat. Of course
• 33:27
Speaker 2: you're gonna act out. Of course you're gonna react to that,
• 33:31
Speaker 2: because the sit down and let's have a conversation was Hey, girl,
• 33:35
Speaker 2: I'm getting married to this person that you've you've realized
• 33:38
  Speaker 2: could be.
• 33:39
Speaker 3: Your sister an age.
• 33:41
Speaker 2: Yeah, also not hey, i've met someone we've dated. Let's
• 33:45
Speaker 2: all get to know each other and like see where
• 33:48
  Speaker 2: it goes.
• 33:49
Speaker 1: Also, like Meredith like only works in absolutes absolutes.
• 33:56
Speaker 3: There it is, so she's.
• 33:58
Speaker 1: Immediately like, I'm gonna have one conversation with this kid
• 34:01
Speaker 1: and then then this bitch better fucking back off. And
• 34:04
Speaker 1: she literally thinks that that's how eleven year olds work.
• 34:07
Speaker 1: And I'm like, no, eleven year olds are petty. I've
• 34:11
Speaker 1: never actually let go of how petty I was at
• 34:14
Speaker 1: eleven years old. I'm still that petty. So of course
• 34:17
Speaker 1: they put a lizard in your hair, and of course
• 34:19
Speaker 1: they tried to drown you in that like like the
• 34:22
Speaker 1: rest of us could only dream of getting to do that,
• 34:26
Speaker 1: And there was no adult conversation between Nick and Meredith
• 34:31
Speaker 1: on how they were actually going to handle this. So
• 34:35
Speaker 1: in a way, Nick is also kind of the villain
• 34:38
Speaker 1: parent because it's like, so you just thought we'd bumble
• 34:41
Speaker 1: this and Chessy would take care of it. There's a
• 34:43
Speaker 1: lot of emotional baggage being handed to all of the
• 34:46
Speaker 1: women in this movie.
• 34:48
Speaker 2: Right because he's the charming one. Because the way we
• 34:52
Speaker 2: meet Nick at the airport is very old Hollywood, very romanticized,
• 34:58
Speaker 2: very much like Coming Home, feel good. Look at this
• 35:02
Speaker 2: handsome guy who is a dedicated dad.
• 35:07
Speaker 1: And no one get me wrong. My only note about
• 35:12
Speaker 1: Nick in this on my entire page is Dennis Quaid
• 35:16
Speaker 1: is such a babe.
• 35:17
Speaker 3: Yes, and he is.
• 35:19
Speaker 1: And Dennis Dennis Quaid was the babe of my childhood
• 35:23
Speaker 1: because a parent trap and my secret favorite movie dragon Heart,
• 35:26
Speaker 1: where he has to share half a heart with a
• 35:28
Speaker 1: dragon and the dragon Sean Connery. Oh I love Sean Connery,
• 35:34
Speaker 1: all right, and I love it. And he's a babe,
• 35:39
Speaker 1: and he's a knight of the old code and the
• 35:43
Speaker 1: old ways where knights and dragons were friends or whatever.
• 35:48
Speaker 1: I'm sorry Dennis Quaid doesn't share half of a heart
• 35:50
Speaker 1: with the dragon and dragon Heart. I almost want to
• 35:52
Speaker 1: punch myself in my own face. The evil Prince shares
• 35:56
Speaker 1: a heart with the dragon and dragon Heart and.
• 36:00
  Speaker 3: Has he like.
• 36:02
Speaker 1: He corrupts the heart and then they gotta take care
• 36:06
  Speaker 1: of him.
• 36:08
  Speaker 3: Yeah, it's a great film.
• 36:10
Speaker 1: Everyone. Dennis Quaid babe. Jerry Lewis babe.
• 36:15
Speaker 2: Well, and when you see him and Lizzie later sort
• 36:20
Speaker 2: of connect like he clearly still has feelings for her.
• 36:24
Speaker 3: And because he has and always has.
• 36:26
Speaker 2: And like you know, he sees her in the lobby
• 36:30
Speaker 2: and he's like, holy shit, and then he gets himself
• 36:34
Speaker 2: freshened up to go look for her, like and not
• 36:38
Speaker 2: in like a creepy sort of way, it's in a
• 36:43
Speaker 2: oh my gosh, like I need to look good.
• 36:44
Speaker 3: I'm gonna go find her. She looked beautiful. What is
• 36:47
Speaker 3: she doing here? Like oh, like heart fluttery kind of way.
• 36:50
Speaker 3: And Meredith is just, in my mind, villain villain villain,
• 36:54
Speaker 3: She's like super. Let me just say that.
• 37:00
Speaker 2: It makes me really upset when people are like, I'm
• 37:02
Speaker 2: going to send those children off to Switzerland, and so
• 37:05
Speaker 2: I can have the menton to myself because that because.
• 37:09
Speaker 3: In the scenario with the guy being, you know, being the.
• 37:11
Speaker 2: Primary care provider, it's probably gonna be easy right to
• 37:15
Speaker 2: convince them that that's the best.
• 37:17
Speaker 3: But me as the mom, like you were saying earlier.
• 37:20
Speaker 2: I my kid turned eighteen and went off to college,
• 37:23
Speaker 2: and I'm still kind of like, do you really have
• 37:25
Speaker 2: to leave my house?
• 37:27
  Speaker 3: Well?
• 37:28
Speaker 1: And Nick gives off really big, like I don't even
• 37:32
Speaker 1: know what went wrong energy right, So it very much
• 37:36
Speaker 1: feels like because Lizzie is like, he drives me crazy,
• 37:41
Speaker 1: and she's chainsmoking and she has to have like eight
• 37:44
Speaker 1: bottles of wine and a limo and she's like, he,
• 37:48
Speaker 1: I cannot believe that I'm going to see him again.
• 37:51
Speaker 1: He infuriates me. Yeah, and then he's mister, I don't
• 37:55
  Speaker 1: even know what I did want. I'm a doable, I'm
• 37:59
Speaker 1: a babe, if not a baby. And it's very much.
• 38:04
Speaker 1: And I've been talking about this a lot, where it's
• 38:07
Speaker 1: so infuriating the amount of mental and emotional labor women
• 38:11
Speaker 1: are handed, and then you're dealing with it day in
• 38:16
Speaker 1: day out, trying to make it better, trying to convince
• 38:18
Speaker 1: yourself it's better, trying to raise him to be a man,
• 38:24
Speaker 1: even though sorry, go ahead, I don't even know where
• 38:26
Speaker 1: we got the notion that like men would rise to
• 38:29
Speaker 1: the occasion. We keep saying it's because of rom comms,
• 38:32
Speaker 1: but they never seem to do it there either, right,
• 38:34
  Speaker 1: And he's just saying, they're going, I don't even know
• 38:37
Speaker 1: why she lived and took my baby. I don't even Chessie,
• 38:40
Speaker 1: do you know? And it's and they just get to
• 38:44
Speaker 1: play that off all the time.
• 38:46
Speaker 2: Well, and it's like he is never he gets everything
• 38:52
Speaker 2: is cared for for him, so he can be the
• 38:54
Speaker 2: wine creative genius, because why else would you have Chessie.
• 39:00
Speaker 2: He really, she was there from the jump, right, because
• 39:05
Speaker 2: Lizzie's like, oh, Chessie.
• 39:06
Speaker 3: Of course, I remember, you're so great at You're amazing.
• 39:10
  Speaker 2: But like, it's he's always been. It's always a situation
• 39:14
  Speaker 2: for him where he's been I'm a genius and I'm
• 39:18
Speaker 2: a businessman, so I need to do these things, and
• 39:21
Speaker 2: so therefore you all must support me so I can
• 39:24
Speaker 2: focus on these things.
• 39:25
Speaker 3: And it's cute and.
• 39:26
Speaker 2: Great and wonderful and lovely that he has a relationship
• 39:29
Speaker 2: with Hallie and that you know she adores her dad,
• 39:34
Speaker 2: you know, yay for you, But also how much of
• 39:36
Speaker 2: that relationship is just Disneyland dad, even though they live together,
• 39:40
Speaker 2: because Chessie's there doing all the hard work well.
• 39:43
Speaker 1: And also he's like, mister, like, I'm so talented, I'm
• 39:47
Speaker 1: a wine guy. I have this amazing business. But he's
• 39:50
Speaker 1: also like, but I'm not like a serious guy, right,
• 39:54
Speaker 1: a fun guy. And it's exhausting. It is exhausting me
• 39:58
Speaker 1: in a relationship with the who's always like whoa whoa,
• 40:01
Speaker 1: what are we screaming about?
• 40:03
  Speaker 3: Yeah?
• 40:04
Speaker 1: Yeah, I am the fun guy. Why are you throwing
• 40:07
Speaker 1: that at my head?
• 40:08
Speaker 3: Yeah? Weren't we having fun? If you're just joining us?
• 40:11
Speaker 2: We are talking about still the nineteen ninety eight version
• 40:15
Speaker 2: Parent Trap starring Lindsay Lowen, Natasha Richardson, and and Dennis Quaid,
• 40:21
Speaker 2: And we are discussing the theory that the twins are.
• 40:25
Speaker 1: The real villain, but they can't be because they're children,
• 40:29
Speaker 1: and it's not a scary movie like in scary movies,
• 40:32
Speaker 1: like children can be the villains. Like, yeah, like we've
• 40:35
Speaker 1: seen that happen, Yeah, in.
• 40:37
Speaker 2: A horror film. This is like a little a legitimate
• 40:41
Speaker 2: family friendly rom com.
• 40:43
Speaker 1: Yeah. And also just bec and I think what also
• 40:48
Speaker 1: is happening with that like argument and that TikTok trend
• 40:51
Speaker 1: is number one married with Blake still hot. So she's
• 40:55
Speaker 1: on TikTok now with CHESSI and we're all like, oh,
• 40:58
Speaker 1: she's still hot, and so we want a side with her,
• 41:00
Speaker 1: and she's like, maybe everyone should side with me, and.
• 41:03
  Speaker 3: Good for her.
• 41:03
Speaker 1: Be relevant, how you're relevant? Yeah, But also I think
• 41:08
Speaker 1: what's happening is is.
• 41:10
Speaker 3: At the base of it, what we're.
• 41:11
Speaker 1: Really uncomfortable with is how Meredith was used as a
• 41:16
Speaker 1: sexual prop for conflict, and we don't have the language
• 41:20
Speaker 1: for that anymore. So we're like justice for Meredith. Those
• 41:24
Speaker 1: kids put her in a lake. They do be a
• 41:27
Speaker 1: real extreme shit to her. They put her in a lake, Yeah,
• 41:32
Speaker 1: they do. She could have drowned.
• 41:36
Speaker 2: Trying to think of what happens to her in the original,
• 41:38
Speaker 2: I think it's just, Oh, in the original, they do
• 41:41
Speaker 2: they do all the things to her tent that it happens,
• 41:45
Speaker 2: you know, in the first when they're at camp and
• 41:47
Speaker 2: then there's little tiny bear cubs that and are like
• 41:52
Speaker 2: licking the honey off of her face and her body.
• 41:55
Speaker 1: Were they brown bears or black bear?
• 41:57
  Speaker 3: They were brown?
• 41:59
Speaker 1: Brown. You gotta lay down, black you attack that. Those
• 42:02
Speaker 1: are the rules for the bears.
• 42:04
Speaker 2: Well, also, baby cubs mean there's a mama, so there's
• 42:07
Speaker 2: a she mad. So I was like, so, so I
• 42:11
  Speaker 2: feel like that's a that's a decent edit, right, Like
• 42:14
  Speaker 2: I felt like.
• 42:14
Speaker 3: That was a good edit because.
• 42:18
Speaker 2: In nineteen sixty one, I guess you could have bears
• 42:21
Speaker 2: as in as props for movies like.
• 42:23
  Speaker 3: Live Actual Bears.
• 42:25
Speaker 1: In nineteen sixty one, you could have bears in your
• 42:27
Speaker 1: baby in your movies, and you could have lions in
• 42:30
  Speaker 1: your bedroom.
• 42:31
Speaker 3: It was a wild tie, a wild time.
• 42:34
Speaker 2: It was a wild And then the guy in the
• 42:36
Speaker 2: sixty one version because because in the sixty one version
• 42:39
Speaker 2: he has a housekeeper and he also has like a
• 42:42
  Speaker 2: ranch hand, because he's not a he's not a vitnor,
• 42:44
Speaker 2: he's a ranch guy. And he's like nothing but little
• 42:49
Speaker 2: bidley old bear guns, and you're just like.
• 42:54
Speaker 3: Bear cubs that could murder you.
• 42:56
Speaker 1: Which, by the way, me, I'm always a person who's like,
• 42:58
Speaker 1: why are you so scared of the little hey bill brown?
• 43:02
Speaker 1: Lay down, black, scream back, that's what you do with beers.
• 43:07
  Speaker 1: There's a rhyme.
• 43:09
Speaker 3: I'm like, how do I learn how to climb a tree?
• 43:10
  Speaker 3: Real quick?
• 43:12
Speaker 1: Are you so scared? Hugs a little babies, They're just
• 43:15
Speaker 1: a little thing, little guys. I was recently at the
• 43:18
Speaker 1: zoo and every animal enclosure we came to, my friend
• 43:23
Speaker 1: and I would look at one another and go, I
• 43:25
Speaker 1: just want to give it little scretches, just a little scritch,
• 43:29
Speaker 1: just a little behind the ear scritch.
• 43:32
Speaker 2: My god, Natalie, please don't get accidentally murdered by a
• 43:35
  Speaker 2: wild creature.
• 43:36
Speaker 1: I am very surprised that I have not been one
• 43:39
Speaker 1: of those people to like lose a limb at the
• 43:40
Speaker 1: zoo because they were doing like white people nonsense.
• 43:43
Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, don't do that, don't do that. But yeah,
• 43:50
Speaker 2: so that was kind of like my big thing was
• 43:52
Speaker 2: like Meredith was very much painted to be a seductress,
• 43:57
Speaker 2: younger woman who bewitches the doufis.
• 44:04
Speaker 3: Kind of middle aged, wealthy man, and.
• 44:10
  Speaker 2: I just I think that's that's where I'm like, justice
• 44:14
  Speaker 2: for Meredith.
• 44:15
  Speaker 3: Not.
• 44:16
Speaker 2: It wasn't not that she wasn't a villain. It's just like,
• 44:19
Speaker 2: can we stop painting women.
• 44:22
  Speaker 3: As like.
• 44:24
Speaker 1: She's not bad? She was just written that way. Yeah,
• 44:29
Speaker 1: I love Jessica Rabbit is basically what I'm saying, we
• 44:33
Speaker 1: need to cover Roger Rabbit on the show. I love
• 44:36
Speaker 1: Roger Rabbit, and I probably have like a large portion
• 44:39
Speaker 1: of it, or at least memorized memorized.
• 44:43
Speaker 3: I still don't know who framed him. I've seen that
• 44:45
  Speaker 3: a billion times.
• 44:46
Speaker 1: Roger Rabbit and Buppets take Manhattan. When people ask me
• 44:50
Speaker 1: what my Easter traditions are, I'm like, oh, watching Muppets
• 44:53
Speaker 1: take Manhattan and Roger Rabbit, and they're like not in Easter.
• 44:58
Speaker 1: I used to show it in my cap the classroom.
• 45:01
Speaker 1: I'd be like, good news everyone, Yeah, you can't show
• 45:03
Speaker 1: Roger Rebbit at school. There's some wild shit that evans
• 45:06
Speaker 1: good news everyone. Easter breaks on its way. So I
• 45:09
Speaker 1: thought we'd watch the best Easter movie of all muppets,
• 45:13
Speaker 1: Tapement All. That's cute.
• 45:16
Speaker 3: Yeah, I love that.
• 45:19
Speaker 1: Do we think that Hollywood made Lindsey Lohan bleacher freckles?
• 45:25
Speaker 1: I was shocked by how many freckles were on her face.
• 45:28
Speaker 2: No, because in her Vanity Fair cover she still had
• 45:31
Speaker 2: a shit ton of freckles.
• 45:32
Speaker 3: Good for her and adorable.
• 45:35
Speaker 2: I think it's a matter of you know, uh, just
• 45:38
Speaker 2: covering them up with makeup and stuff, because it is
• 45:41
Speaker 2: really hard and it is shocking when you know somebody
• 45:43
Speaker 2: has a ton of freckles and then they put on
• 45:45
Speaker 2: foundation and you're like, what's different about your face?
• 45:50
Speaker 1: Got the acting chops of that child at eleven just to.
• 45:54
Speaker 3: Have the career that she had. I know, she's very talented.
• 45:59
Speaker 1: And it's the same with the me into Buys, It's
• 46:01
Speaker 1: the same with Hillary Duff. These really young women of
• 46:04
Speaker 1: the nineties in the two thousands were very talented and
• 46:07
Speaker 1: they could hold their own in scenes with grown ups.
• 46:11
Speaker 1: They just happened to be young women in Hollywood, and
• 46:14
Speaker 1: therefore we refuse to let them have the career that
• 46:17
  Speaker 1: they deserved.
• 46:18
Speaker 3: Well, and I think too A lot of that also is,
• 46:21
Speaker 3: you know, the parent parental role.
• 46:24
Speaker 2: Because now Hillary Duff I feel like came out of
• 46:26
Speaker 2: it unscathed, out of the ure that you listened, that
• 46:29
Speaker 2: you listed, and so like when you think about all
• 46:35
Speaker 2: of our young starlets who kind of came out of it, Okay,
• 46:38
Speaker 2: they had a pretty solid like parental support system. Okay,
• 46:45
Speaker 2: So can I tell you something else that I love
• 46:47
Speaker 2: about the nineteen ninety eight version, of course, all of
• 46:50
Speaker 2: the nods to the nineteen sixty one version.
• 46:53
  Speaker 1: M hm.
• 46:54
Speaker 3: It makes me so happy that.
• 46:56
Speaker 1: The boots are supposed to do. It's supposed to make
• 46:58
Speaker 1: me feel warm and fuzzy.
• 47:00
Speaker 2: Yeah, but I mean like they take things, like they
• 47:02
Speaker 2: pull things directly. Like I mentioned before, the scene where
• 47:06
Speaker 2: she's like Grandpa, and that there's that my.
• 47:09
Speaker 3: Annie, that tall gangly thing.
• 47:13
Speaker 2: The snapping of the sticks because the bears to keep
• 47:16
Speaker 2: the bears away like that.
• 47:18
  Speaker 3: I love that. There's there's other little.
• 47:22
Speaker 2: Scenes too, like the way that they redid the scene
• 47:26
Speaker 2: where uh Chessie's telling Hallie about her dad being engaged.
• 47:31
Speaker 2: You know, verbin Ya in the movie is like, I'm
• 47:34
Speaker 2: not gonna say a word, not one single word, and
• 47:36
Speaker 2: then goes into like the Gossip of it All and
• 47:40
Speaker 2: they do that same thing but in a nineteen ninety
• 47:43
Speaker 2: eight version, and it's so beautifully done, Like this is
• 47:47
Speaker 2: such a wonderful example of how you.
• 47:50
Speaker 3: Do a reboot of a movie.
• 47:53
Speaker 2: That still makes you feel all the things the sixty
• 47:56
Speaker 2: one version did, but for a modern version, Like it's
• 47:59
Speaker 2: such a wonderful nod to the original but keeping it
• 48:04
Speaker 2: relevant and modern. Like these two movies stand alone to me,
• 48:07
Speaker 2: like they are two different movies completely because the acting
• 48:12
  Speaker 2: is different.
• 48:13
Speaker 3: The vibes a little different, but yet they still could
• 48:17
Speaker 3: be their own family, if that makes any sense.
• 48:20
Speaker 1: No, No, it's like when it's like Little Sister. It's
• 48:26
Speaker 1: like when people make fun of me because I went
• 48:27
Speaker 1: and saw the last Draassic Park and they're like, but
• 48:29
Speaker 1: you hate Chris Pratt, and I was like, but the
• 48:31
Speaker 1: original three are coming back and they're so fucking hot. Yeah,
• 48:36
Speaker 1: they're so fucking hot, and they're gonna play all of
• 48:38
Speaker 1: the music cues that like makes my brain tingle and
• 48:43
Speaker 1: and I like dinosaurs, and I like to hump my
• 48:47
Speaker 1: chair whenever Jeff Goldbloom's around. Look he's right here, Goldbloom.
• 48:53
Speaker 3: Hey, sexy Jeff Goldbloom is.
• 48:57
Speaker 2: I still can't get over that. Geena Davis full On
• 48:59
Speaker 2: said this is my soulmate.
• 49:01
Speaker 1: He's my soulmate too, So like maybe Gina, Jeff and
• 49:05
Speaker 1: I need to talk. Oh spicy, spicy. Also along that
• 49:12
Speaker 1: same note, I found the very beginning of the movie,
• 49:15
Speaker 1: all of the camp scenes very kind of queer coded,
• 49:19
Speaker 1: and I was like, really happening. I was like, is
• 49:21
Speaker 1: it because all Girls Camp is innately queer? Or is
• 49:24
Speaker 1: it because I'm like, oh no, they're coding Haley that
• 49:30
Speaker 1: way as a way to like differentiate herself from Annie m.
• 49:36
Speaker 2: You know, it's interesting because when I first saw the movie,
• 49:40
Speaker 2: I just was like, man, all female spaces. That sounds amazing,
• 49:44
Speaker 2: Like look at all everyone getting along and having a
• 49:46
Speaker 2: good time and you know, having this great relationship. Because again,
• 49:51
Speaker 2: I grew up in religion and it.
• 49:54
Speaker 3: Just didn't have the same.
• 49:58
Speaker 2: Collective vibe of unity as they as religion likes to
• 50:02
Speaker 2: say that they do well.
• 50:04
Speaker 1: And you know, in every Disney movie they have some
• 50:10
Speaker 1: sort of queer coded character and it's usually a villain,
• 50:14
Speaker 1: which is Disney's fuckery. But yeah, I was just like
• 50:20
Speaker 1: watching it. I was like, Oh, that's the first time
• 50:22
Speaker 1: that that's hit different that I was like, damn. If
• 50:26
Speaker 1: it wasn't for Christianity and just like uppy conservative white people,
• 50:30
Speaker 1: I would have came to terms with my bisexuality way earlier. Yeah.
• 50:36
Speaker 3: Yeah, that's the thing.
• 50:37
Speaker 2: Like I had somebody I was having a conversation with,
• 50:41
Speaker 2: doesn't matter who had made a comment about like all
• 50:43
Speaker 2: these people and they're who are old, who are coming out?
• 50:46
Speaker 3: Now, what is that? It's so trying blah blah blah.
• 50:48
Speaker 1: And I was like, oh, that's let's talk about the seventies.
• 50:52
  Speaker 1: I I wasn't.
• 50:53
Speaker 2: There, but I can read history books and I watched
• 50:57
Speaker 2: a lot of television that was from the seventies and
• 51:00
Speaker 2: the way that they talk about people who are gay.
• 51:06
Speaker 1: I this is dangerous because I'm on live Internet. But
• 51:12
Speaker 1: I was explaining to one of our mutual friends because
• 51:16
Speaker 1: they had mentioned the Gaylors on one of their publications,
• 51:20
Speaker 1: and I was like, oh, but heavy ran into the
• 51:25
Speaker 1: Hitlers who are so proud of their heterosexuality that they
• 51:30
  Speaker 1: literally scream.
• 51:32
Speaker 3: Why doesn't she have the right to be straight?
• 51:36
Speaker 1: And everyone's trying to make everyone gay? And then the
• 51:40
Speaker 1: hashtag hitler all over it, and it's, yes, you need
• 51:49
Speaker 1: to be in the comments more in the conspiracy theory, tiktoks,
• 51:53
Speaker 1: you need to be in the comments more. It is
• 51:56
Speaker 1: it's like, I'm very because you like, it's very clownish
• 52:00
Speaker 1: and comical on both sides, but it's extremely like satirical
• 52:05
Speaker 1: and comical on that side because they're like just mad
• 52:09
Speaker 1: that maybe another person would be gay. Yeah, and that's
• 52:13
Speaker 1: what they're screaming about, and the rest of us are
• 52:16
Speaker 1: just like picking up on things where like there's just
• 52:19
  Speaker 1: a vibe.
• 52:20
  Speaker 3: That's so funny.
• 52:22
Speaker 2: I think it's funny when people are mad about like
• 52:26
Speaker 2: why is ever? Like who, Like, I'm yeah, I'm here
• 52:29
Speaker 2: to tell you that I'm pretty confident it was like
• 52:32
  Speaker 2: the twentieth century.
• 52:33
Speaker 3: Who's like angry about it?
• 52:35
Speaker 2: Because I feel like I feel like, well, again, you
• 52:39
Speaker 2: know what, I'm not going to make a comment because
• 52:41
Speaker 2: I grew up in a Christian church, so all of
• 52:42
Speaker 2: my information, all of my learning was self learned about
• 52:46
Speaker 2: well things like science and history.
• 52:50
Speaker 1: And I think that part of it plays into the
• 52:52
Speaker 1: beginning of this movie. I mean, just like getting a
• 52:55
Speaker 1: vibe that I've never gotten a vibe before. It made
• 52:59
Speaker 1: me lize how far I've come in my deprogramming of
• 53:03
Speaker 1: not only misogyny and male patriarchy, but also heter normativity.
• 53:10
Speaker 1: Because when people scream you shouldn't just assume someone's gay,
• 53:13
Speaker 1: It's like, but then you're also just telling me that
• 53:16
Speaker 1: I should assume that the world is straight, right the majority.
• 53:21
Speaker 3: Which I do hate that.
• 53:22
Speaker 2: I hate that we should just assume everyone straight, Like
• 53:25
  Speaker 2: that's not that's great.
• 53:26
Speaker 1: And so when I start to read vibes, I'm like, oh, yes,
• 53:30
Speaker 1: because my brain didn't immediately go, that's a girl that
• 53:33
Speaker 1: kisses boys and only boys.
• 53:37
Speaker 2: And I wonder too, because you know, Nancy Myers is
• 53:40
Speaker 2: the director. She is a co writer on this film,
• 53:44
Speaker 2: So again at the hands of a as a female
• 53:47
Speaker 2: of a woman director, someone who's looking at camp through
• 53:51
Speaker 2: the lens of what would she want her daughters to attend?
• 54:00
Speaker 2: Back to your theory of like pretty sure everyone's queer
• 54:02
Speaker 2: until they until they're not, until.
• 54:04
Speaker 1: They're not, until until someone smacks you about it or something,
• 54:09
Speaker 1: until someone says something really mean to you in a
• 54:11
Speaker 1: hotel lobby. Yeah, yeah, because I do you think like
• 54:18
Speaker 1: that is something about being young that we take it
• 54:22
Speaker 1: for granted. And it's like, it's the same argument for
• 54:25
Speaker 1: why babies can see ghosts, and it's because well, their
• 54:28
Speaker 1: brain hasn't shut up to the ghost yet. So at
• 54:32
Speaker 1: some point through everyone's cannon, there is a canon event
• 54:37
Speaker 1: where you eat where a lot of people went, oh,
• 54:41
Speaker 1: you have to be straight. Straight is safe. Everyone is straight.
• 54:45
Speaker 1: It's a very straight world. And for some people they
• 54:49
Speaker 1: didn't happen and they didn't have to deprogram, or it
• 54:51
Speaker 1: did happen and they deprogrammed earlier. But it is really
• 54:56
Speaker 1: nice to kind of just like walk through the world
• 54:58
Speaker 1: being like, I don't know, maybe I could kiss anybody.
• 55:03
Speaker 1: Maybe hey, maybe my hot tub at the Bachelor would
• 55:06
Speaker 1: just like look like a little potpourri party.
• 55:10
Speaker 3: It could be anybody. It could be anybody.
• 55:13
Speaker 1: Demanding gay love is Blind. If we can do gay ultimatum,
• 55:17
Speaker 1: we can do is blind. Winde I deserve gay love
• 55:21
  Speaker 1: is Blind.
• 55:22
Speaker 2: Everybody does because straight ultimatum was boring.
• 55:27
Speaker 1: Straight ultimatum was so boring. This season of Love is
• 55:30
Speaker 1: Blind very messy. I'm in love with it, but that
• 55:33
Speaker 1: ultimatum season two with the Straights? How dare you air that?
• 55:38
Speaker 1: It was not great? It was not great? Where were
• 55:41
Speaker 1: the producers making drama? No one was talking to these
• 55:45
Speaker 1: boring people. I don't know. Where was the manipulation? Where
• 55:49
Speaker 1: was the gaslighting? We all watched unscripted on Lifetime.
• 55:55
Speaker 2: Right, Okay, so that brings us to our final Now
• 56:00
Speaker 2: we're at we're coming to close on our hour, and
• 56:03
Speaker 2: I need to know, Natalie, are you still comfy with
• 56:06
Speaker 2: parent trap one percent?
• 56:09
Speaker 1: I number one? Like, Hey, Dennis Quay, Hey, I know
• 56:12
Speaker 1: that I said that you were the problem in the
• 56:14
Speaker 1: whole like switcheroo scenario, But you're adorable and you're a babe,
• 56:19
Speaker 1: and you're the reason why I listened to Jerry Lee
• 56:21
Speaker 1: Lewis's music even though I had to watch you hit
• 56:25
Speaker 1: ran on a writer?
• 56:27
Speaker 3: Yeah, fourteen fourteen year old? Why or her character was fourteen?
• 56:32
Speaker 1: And it's literally seared in my bringing you shaking her
• 56:35
Speaker 1: while she's in her like nightgown. So anyways, I love you,
• 56:41
Speaker 1: Dennis Quay, always will. And oh and also, like I
• 56:47
Speaker 1: do think it is weird the fact that Natasha Richardson
• 56:51
Speaker 1: was so beautiful and so talented and from like literally
• 56:55
Speaker 1: anything I've ever seen of her so kind, and for
• 56:58
Speaker 1: us to lose her tragically due to a skiing accident,
• 57:03
Speaker 1: I vow to never ski because that's how we lost Natasha,
• 57:07
Speaker 1: Richards said, And so you can't make me it is
• 57:11
Speaker 1: my platform. I vow to never step on skis because
• 57:14
Speaker 1: why would I? In honor of leem Nisson.
• 57:19
Speaker 2: I think I told I said this in one of
• 57:21
Speaker 2: our group chats that whenever one of her sons has
• 57:23
Speaker 2: reportedly said that whenever he's really missing her a lot,
• 57:26
Speaker 2: he watches parent Trap because that's.
• 57:28
Speaker 3: The most like her in real life.
• 57:31
Speaker 1: She's so beautifully empathetic. In this movie, she's just like
• 57:36
Speaker 1: beautiful and like her mannerisms, the way she talks to
• 57:41
Speaker 1: the girls, even when she finds out about the switch,
• 57:44
Speaker 1: like you can just tell there was never a mean
• 57:47
Speaker 1: bone tour. So Natasha, you're missed, and Dennis you're still
• 57:51
Speaker 1: a babe. So good for the two of you. Well done,
• 57:56
Speaker 1: well done, And Chessie and Meredith love what you two got.
• 57:59
Speaker 3: The bestie's in real life, bestie's in real life. Here
• 58:03
Speaker 3: for it, Here for it.
• 58:07
Speaker 2: I also am very comfy still with this movie and
• 58:09
Speaker 2: will continue to watch it. It is one that I
• 58:12
Speaker 2: really do enjoy watching in the spring and summer for
• 58:14
Speaker 2: obvious reasons because it's summer camp. But it makes me
• 58:20
Speaker 2: feel like, if I didn't have such a heavy handed
• 58:24
Speaker 2: religious growing up experience, that this could have been not
• 58:29
Speaker 2: like the switch roo part, but like going to sleep
• 58:32
Speaker 2: away camp and just like.
• 58:34
Speaker 3: Having pals, Jules, you.
• 58:39
Speaker 2: Have pals, I know I do, but like like when
• 58:43
Speaker 2: it's just the I'm currently reckoning with all of the
• 58:48
Speaker 2: religious stuff in my life clearly as you can tell.
• 58:53
Speaker 3: And I just spent the weekend.
• 58:54
Speaker 2: I did just spend the weekend with my two best
• 58:56
Speaker 2: friends from high school that we've known and we've all
• 58:57
Speaker 2: known each other since technically junior high, so like yes,
• 59:01
  Speaker 2: but like.
• 59:02
Speaker 1: There, we never went to camp with those ladies, so
• 59:04
Speaker 1: it doesn't even count, right.
• 59:06
Speaker 2: Exactly exactly, We've never been to camp together.
• 59:10
Speaker 3: We've never done anything sleep away at all.
• 59:13
Speaker 1: Oh, we never rode our bikes to the next town
• 59:16
Speaker 1: over and ran into a grifter on the street.
• 59:19
Speaker 2: No, but we did walk a lot to the AMPM
• 59:21
Speaker 2: which is now a Starbucks.
• 59:24
Speaker 1: Oh that that beautiful Christina milan Son. Somebody hit the
• 59:29
Speaker 1: lights so we can wreck a day and night. I
• 59:32
Speaker 1: think every time I see an AMPM, which doesn't have
• 59:35
Speaker 1: it often in the Midwest. So should I be traveling
• 59:37
Speaker 1: and I'd see an AMPM, I'm always like, from AM
• 59:40
Speaker 1: to PM, yeah I remember you, Christina Milan.
• 59:44
  Speaker 3: Yeah, but yeah.
• 59:46
Speaker 2: It just makes me like kind of nostalgic in a
• 59:49
Speaker 2: way of like, I that would have been nice to
• 59:51
Speaker 2: have had a childhood like that and not in like
• 59:55
Speaker 2: a bitter way, and like, oh, this is a this
• 59:58
Speaker 2: is a nice little.
• 1:00:00
Speaker 3: Dreamland I can escape to you from time to time.
• 1:00:02
Speaker 1: No, I had wild summers. I had wild unsupervised summers.
• 1:00:06
Speaker 1: I had two summers in camp. Camp's expensive now, So
• 1:00:10
Speaker 1: I would like to remind everyone that Jeweles has never
• 1:00:12
Speaker 1: been to sleep away Camp. She has never been to
• 1:00:14
Speaker 1: summer camp, and she has no friends. You just heard
• 1:00:16
Speaker 1: her say it. And our venmos and all of the
• 1:00:20
Speaker 1: ways to support our show and to make sure that
• 1:00:22
Speaker 1: our shows make money are in our links and our
• 1:00:26
Speaker 1: bios and all you all. And if every person who
• 1:00:29
Speaker 1: runs into this donates one dollar Jewels in, I may
• 1:00:36
Speaker 1: get to go to sleep away Camp and Jewels could
• 1:00:39
Speaker 1: maybe make her first friend who's in your house. No
• 1:00:44
Speaker 1: one's supposed to be her out. I don't know. Okay,
• 1:00:48
  Speaker 1: great ghosts.
• 1:00:49
Speaker 3: I don't know if it's Josephine or if someone's stopping by.
• 1:00:53
Speaker 1: Well, here's Penelope, you want to come here.
• 1:00:55
Speaker 3: At the tail end, I'm just going to assume it
• 1:00:57
  Speaker 3: was Josephine.
• 1:00:58
Speaker 2: It was probably the dog she has, caller that doesn't
• 1:01:01
Speaker 2: make like tags that don't make noise, because I can't
• 1:01:04
Speaker 2: stand the sound of it hitting the ball.
• 1:01:08
  Speaker 1: Into TikTok's eyes.
• 1:01:09
Speaker 2: Penelope, I love that you like she was like, hey, TikTok,
• 1:01:13
  Speaker 2: one of TikTok.
• 1:01:14
Speaker 3: Also, I appreciate that you clocked that. I thought for
• 1:01:18
Speaker 3: a moment I wasn't alone in my house kind of doing.
• 1:01:21
Speaker 1: My little commercial. I look over at you, you're just like,
• 1:01:26
Speaker 1: I was like, who the fuck's in your house? You know,
• 1:01:29
Speaker 1: I thought it would be me murdered live on the internet,
• 1:01:32
Speaker 1: And here we are.
• 1:01:33
  Speaker 3: We are, Natalie.
• 1:01:34
Speaker 2: Why don't you tell our friends, uh, what's coming up
• 1:01:37
