- 0:08If you're being patient with an avoidance right now, I need you
- 0:12to hear me clearly. Patience is not helping.
- 0:16It's actually quietly killing attraction.
- 0:20And if you keep doing this, you will lose them.
- 0:23Not because they're avoidant, but because attraction is not
- 0:27going to be able to survive it. Now, a lot of people pride
- 0:30themselves on being patient. They think it means that they're
- 0:33mature, emotionally regulated, understanding.
- 0:37And they tell themselves, well, I'm not chasing, I'm doing this
- 0:40the right way. But patience, when it turns into
- 0:43passivity, does not preserve attraction.
- 0:47If anything, it actually slowly erodes it.
- 0:51And people believe that patience equals love, that understanding
- 0:55keeps the door open, that if they don't pressure someone, the
- 0:59avoidant will eventually feel safe enough to come back.
- 1:01And that sounds reasonable, right?
- 1:04But attraction doesn't respond to patience.
- 1:07It responds to energy, polarity, and movement.
- 1:12So first, let me define what I'm actually talking about.
- 1:18I'm not talking about staying calm once.
- 1:22I'm not talking about giving someone a day or two of space,
- 1:26and I'm not talking about being emotionally regulated.
- 1:30I'm talking about long term emotional availability without
- 1:35any forward movement. And before we go any further,
- 1:39you need to recognize what that actually looks like.
- 1:42So what that means is people are usually waiting weeks or months
- 1:47for clarity while telling themselves well they just need
- 1:50time. Or responding warmly to bread
- 1:54crumbs with no follow through. Or accepting vague messages like
- 1:59I miss you with no change in behavior.
- 2:03Or it can look like staying emotionally available but
- 2:05meanwhile nothing progresses or avoiding real conversations
- 2:10because they don't want to scare the person off.
- 2:14So that's not patience, that's actually self abandonment.
- 2:20So if patience is not the answer, then the question is,
- 2:24well, what does work without chasing, without pressuring, and
- 2:29without playing games? So what actually works is a
- 2:34clean pullback. And a clean pullback looks very
- 2:40different depending on where you are in the dynamic because this
- 2:45situation shows up in 2 phases. And by the way, if we have not
- 2:51met, my name is Lucia with the Art of love.
- 2:53I'm a dating and relationship expert specializing in helping
- 2:56you get your ex back or to get over your ex.
- 2:59And if you do know me, welcome back my beautiful no contact
- 3:03army. OK, so let's talk about the two
- 3:06phases. So Phase 1 is when they've
- 3:09already pulled away or broken up with you.
- 3:13So this is, of course, there's been a breakup, or the
- 3:16relationship has been clearly downgraded, communication is
- 3:20inconsistent or unclear, and you're no longer moving forward
- 3:24as a couple. So here, patience backfires
- 3:27immediately. They've already started
- 3:30emotionally detaching, and your patience actually removes the
- 3:34last bit of urgency. You think you're keeping the
- 3:37door open and meanwhile they feel free to leave without
- 3:40losing anything. And, and what a clean pullback
- 3:44looks like in phase one is yes, no contact.
- 3:51And it also means that you stop initiating.
- 3:54You stop emotional availability, you stop processing the
- 3:58relationship with them. You stop responding to
- 4:01responding to bread crumbs. You accept the reality of the
- 4:05breakup. And anything else in this phase
- 4:08is not a pullback, It's lingering attachment.
- 4:12Now there's also phase two, and this is when you're still
- 4:15dating. And this is where also people
- 4:18get confused because a clean pullback here doesn't mean that
- 4:20you don't disappear. It doesn't mean no contact and
- 4:25it doesn't mean never initiating again.
- 4:30So you know, instead of thinking, well, I just won't
- 4:33initiate anymore or I'll wait and see if they chase, I'll be
- 4:36distant and see if they feel it. That's not a clean pullback.
- 4:40That's still chasing. OK, You're just being quieter.
- 4:44So what it actually looks like, first of all, the clean pullback
- 4:47has to be internal first. So if something shifts inside
- 4:50you and then external so you don't pull away, but you pull
- 4:56back your over investment. So you stop initiating extra
- 5:01contact in order to maintain closeness.
- 5:04You stop escalating emotionally when they aren't.
- 5:07You stop compensating for their lack of effort.
- 5:11Basically you stop carrying the emotional weight of the
- 5:14connection. But you still respond when they
- 5:18reach out. You still engage warmly when
- 5:20they engage, and you initiate when it feels natural, not when
- 5:27you're anxious. So you're present, but you're no
- 5:30longer propping up the relationship, so it's neutral.
- 5:35You want to be neutral, You want to be Switzerland.
- 5:40Now, avoiding partners don't experience closeness the way
- 5:45that anxious partners do. They need a certain amount of
- 5:49contrast and polarity, but when you're endlessly patient, so
- 5:54you're always understanding, always available, they do not
- 5:58feel drawn closer. They actually feel relieved.
- 6:01However, relief is not attraction.
- 6:05And by the way, if you're listening to this and you're
- 6:07realizing, Oh my God, I'm doing all of this or some of this,
- 6:09then that is exactly what I work through with people in my
- 6:13coaching. And you can find the link to
- 6:15that underneath every single video and podcast.
- 6:18And that is the art of love.net/coaching.
- 6:22And we will send you the rates when you reach out because they
- 6:26are not on the website. So I look forward to connecting
- 6:29with some of you, if not all of you.
- 6:33OK, so you want to stop accepting half access?
- 6:39You want to stop keeping the connection alive by yourself?
- 6:43You want to stop rewarding vagueness with emotional
- 6:46availability availability, and you want to stop waiting when
- 6:51there's no movement. Because attraction doesn't just
- 6:54disappear dramatically, it fades quietly while you're being quote
- 7:00UN quote understanding. So what works isn't pressure, it
- 7:05isn't patience. As I said, it's the clean
- 7:08pullback. And it's not to manipulate, it's
- 7:10not to punish, but it's to restore polarity and self
- 7:14respect. So you stop over explaining, you
- 7:17stop hovering, you allow space to do what patients never can.
- 7:22And that is to force clarity. And by the way, if you're not
- 7:26ready for coaching, but you know you need some support to stay
- 7:30grounded and not to slip back into your evil ways, then I have
- 7:35my app Silencio to help you stay in no contact.
- 7:38And the link to that is underneath every single video
- 7:40and podcast. And I also have my book No
- 7:43Contact Secrets, and of course, the link to that is underneath
- 7:47every single video and podcast, No Contact secrets.com OK, so I
- 7:55know that if you're the type of person who's loyal and
- 7:58thoughtful and emotionally aware that hearing this is
- 8:02uncomfortable, but attraction does not respond to how much you
- 8:06understand someone. Think about it.
- 8:10There have been people, I'm sure in the past who understood you,
- 8:12but does that mean that you were automatically attracted to them?
- 8:16No, probably not. So attraction responds to what
- 8:20you tolerate and what you're willing to withdraw from.
- 8:25It responds to self respect. So if you've been patient hoping
- 8:29they'd come back, then you might want to revisit that and rethink
- 8:36that. Because being patient with an
- 8:38avoidant doesn't save the connection.
- 8:41It either speeds up the exit or it keeps you stuck in the same
- 8:45loop hoping that something changes.
- 8:49OK, so now I want to hear from you.
- 8:51How long have you been in No Contact and how is it going?
