- 0:00The other thing is you need to be, and I don't know if you'll
- 0:04have to beat this out, but you have to learn to be unfuck
- 0:07withable. And I had to practice saying
- 0:10that word because. I love that.
- 0:14I had to practice saying it over and over because you have to
- 0:17learn that you don't. You're not concerned about what
- 0:20other people think. When I was decided to quit my
- 0:24job in real estate to publish books, you know, I was met with,
- 0:28well, you can't do that. That's your job.
- 0:30And it's like, yes, I can. And and then you just go do it.
- 0:35Or if, if you any big thing you go that you want to step out
- 0:40like a publish a book, you can't do that.
- 0:43Well, yes, I can. And, and you have to, you know,
- 0:47channel beans from another dimension.
- 0:49Well, as a matter of fact, I have and you just have to go
- 0:52with it and go. I'm not going to worry about
- 0:55what people say about. Hello and welcome back to The
- 0:58Field Podcast. Happy new Year.
- 1:01It is 2026, folks. I don't know how we got here
- 1:05already. My head is spinning, but we are
- 1:08here and we're going to start off the new year with one of my
- 1:13favorite people I met in 2025. I met her through my friends at
- 1:18the Fresno County Women's Chamber of Commerce, and she is
- 1:25one of the most connecting, honest, generous people I've met
- 1:33in this time. She immediately sat down with
- 1:36coffee, shared her resources, shared who she thought I should
- 1:40connect with, invited me to speak at one of her retreats,
- 1:45which I had the honor of doing in the fall.
- 1:49And it's just has such a connecting story, but also has a
- 1:55lot of courage because she learned something about herself
- 2:00not very many years ago and was willing to to say yes to it and
- 2:06connect to it and invited in. And we'll get into that in the
- 2:09conversation and, and how she arrived at this point.
- 2:12She's written books, she has retreats.
- 2:16She really helps women connect with their selves and their
- 2:20spirituality and what's already in them already.
- 2:23She just helps them tap into it, which is how our missions are so
- 2:28aligned. We have our own ways of going
- 2:29about it, but we're very In Sync there.
- 2:33And she, I'm just so thankful to know her and to get to feature
- 2:36her today. Janie Jankovic.
- 2:39Janie Djerkovic, let me get that name right.
- 2:41Janie Djerkovic describes herself as honest, practical,
- 2:47funny, determined, and she perseveres.
- 2:51Janie, welcome to the Field podcast.
- 2:54Thank you. It's great to be here.
- 2:56Oh. I'm so glad to have you.
- 2:58Before we get into the talking points, you sent out a
- 3:02newsletter just a couple of days ago.
- 3:05It landed when we're recording this, it landed in my inbox and
- 3:08it just hits so succinctly. So many of you listeners are
- 3:12going to connect with this and it's at the Story behind your
- 3:17books and, and it's titled The Story behind these books still
- 3:20surprises me. And you say I was doing what so
- 3:24many of us do, taking care of everyone else, holding it
- 3:28together, going through the motions.
- 3:31On the surface, I was a successful businesswoman, a
- 3:34mother, a wife. But underneath it all, I felt
- 3:38numb. I didn't have a breakdown in the
- 3:41dramatic cinematic sense. It was slower than that, a quiet
- 3:46unraveling that led me to question everything I thought I
- 3:51knew. And then something shifted.
- 3:53I began receiving messages, not in a way I expected, and not
- 3:59anything I was seeking out. The voices weren't loud or
- 4:02scary. They were clear, calm, loving.
- 4:07I couldn't ignore them. I didn't want to.
- 4:10Those messages became the words in this book trilogy, and over
- 4:15time, those words started to feel less like mine and more
- 4:19like something for anyone walking through the fog of a
- 4:23life that no longer fits. Mic drop.
- 4:28That's me putting that in. It doesn't say that in the
- 4:30newsletter that my, my gosh, that just hit.
- 4:34I'm like, I have to share that in the episode and it's a great
- 4:37segue into talk to me about yourself care journey because
- 4:44and I like how you talked about you.
- 4:46It wasn't this big moment like I had kind of a big moment that
- 4:50forced me to pay attention. But I think more often than not,
- 4:54it's that slow and raveling and there's clues there, but we live
- 4:59so disassociated that we just ignore them.
- 5:01We push them away. We keep trudging forward until
- 5:06we get a kind of like wake up one day.
- 5:08I'm like, wait a minute, how did I get here?
- 5:10This doesn't feel right. I am out of alignment and you
- 5:14start trying to put your finger on things.
- 5:18So talk to me about this evolution for you and what
- 5:21you've learned in yourself care journey via this message.
- 5:28OK, well I would say it happened due to circumstances in my
- 5:34family life. My husband left unexpectedly
- 5:37after a long marriage. So I was left to evaluate my
- 5:41life and I didn't really like where it was because I had done
- 5:44all the things that society said, like work hard, take care
- 5:48of your family, put everybody else 1st.
- 5:50And all that got me was more work and and I and I finally
- 5:54said, well, I get a chance to do a do over and I want to fix
- 5:57this. I want to fix my life.
- 5:59And so I started basically meditating before I knew what it
- 6:03was because I had been, I was a workaholic, so I never even sat
- 6:08still. In fact, I used to tell my kids
- 6:11I'll rest when I'm dead. I didn't realize how bad it is
- 6:15to be, how dangerous it is to be sleep deprived.
- 6:19And once I started, you know, focusing more on figuring out
- 6:22life and being quiet, like I said, meditating before I knew
- 6:26what it was. Then I started hearing voices
- 6:28that gave me guidance and it was covering because it was, it was
- 6:34new to me, the information I was getting and it, and I knew that
- 6:39what I had been doing didn't work.
- 6:41So it's worth a try. And it, it, it really, it led me
- 6:46to the path of figuring out how to live my best life and writing
- 6:51books and tapping in spiritually and, and having that whole
- 6:56journey. And I can say that life is much
- 6:59better now. I'm a lot more focused and I
- 7:02realized that you know how I'm supposed to be living life and
- 7:07it's and it's not as a constant made to everybody else or an
- 7:12indentured servant like I sometimes felt.
- 7:15Yeah, but it's not absolutely. I mean it.
- 7:21I'm not saying neglect your marital responsibilities or your
- 7:27family responsibilities, but there's nothing wrong with
- 7:30putting you in the equation. And that's I think was something
- 7:35that was lacking in the, in what was taught to women growing up
- 7:39in the 50s, like me, you know, we were taught like our
- 7:43opinions, what we want doesn't matter.
- 7:46And so that's, that's a really big shift.
- 7:50And I'm happy that younger women are starting to learn that
- 7:54lesson earlier, whereas I didn't learn until my 60s, you know,
- 7:58that there was another way and I could say no and I could live
- 8:02life on my terms. So yeah, it's been.
- 8:07A yeah, absolutely. Well, and I look how you need to
- 8:13talk about you got to there in your 60s and I think it's just a
- 8:15reminder it's it's not too late. There's no timeline.
- 8:19And when we get in alignment with ourselves and really start
- 8:22living as our healthiest, most from that healthy, most
- 8:26authentic place. And so don't let that be a
- 8:30deterrent. Stay curious.
- 8:31Stay open to what's possible. You've learned the value.
- 8:36Yeah. I mean, I think that's so.
- 8:38You're such a great example of that.
- 8:39You have learned the value of setting healthy boundaries, of
- 8:43saying no, of having a clear idea of what it is you will and
- 8:47won't connect with. Talk to me about that part of
- 8:51the journey. Well, I didn't even know there
- 8:54was such a thing as sound setting boundaries.
- 8:57I mean, I probably heard about it on a podcast or something.
- 9:00And I'm like, oh, that's what's wrong.
- 9:02I'm letting people walk all over me.
- 9:04So I realized that it was OK to say no and that that is a
- 9:09complete sentence. And you don't have to give
- 9:12everybody an explanation because it's none of their business.
- 9:15And just, you know, you don't have to be mean or hurtful.
- 9:20You can just say no, I I'm not interested in doing that.
- 9:24I don't have time. Or just say no, I can't.
- 9:29You can make an excuse if you want, but it it's more than and
- 9:34you have to real value yourself and your own time and your own
- 9:37sanity. Sure, you might be able to
- 9:40actually fit in whatever task somebody's asking you to do, but
- 9:44do you really want to? Does it feed yourself?
- 9:46Does it you which is your time better spent doing something
- 9:50else? Maybe you just need to rest and
- 9:52not be go, go, go because then you will be nice or not crabby
- 9:57to people or. Yeah, I mean, I really wish I
- 10:01would have known that when my kids were little because, you
- 10:03know, everything was so frantic and, you know, I'm sure I was
- 10:08short tempered. The other thing about setting
- 10:11boundaries is not just saying no to obligations that other people
- 10:17try to put on you, but also setting boundaries for how you
- 10:21you will allow people to treat. You.
- 10:25Because I didn't understand before that, you know, people
- 10:28treat you the way you let them, and if you don't stand up for
- 10:32yourself, nobody else is going to do it and they'll just keep
- 10:35taking advantage of you. And it might be a friend that's
- 10:40only calls you when they need something, or a child that only
- 10:45calls you when they want money or something like that.
- 10:47And you have to learn that it's OK to say no and it's OK to
- 10:53limit your contact with them. And it could be it like if you
- 10:58have a friend that's been a really good friend for a long
- 11:00time, but you finally the light bulb went off and you notice
- 11:03that they are always negative, you know, and I mean other
- 11:07people. And after a while you realize
- 11:09that when you're around them, it makes you in a bad mood.
- 11:13And you don't like that because you try not to be like that.
- 11:17And if you try to gently persuade them to turn the
- 11:21conversation to whatever could be positive in this terrible,
- 11:24horrible situation and and they don't get the hint, after a
- 11:28while, you can just eliminate your contact with them.
- 11:31And then you just set basically setting a boundary.
- 11:35I don't want to be around somebody like that and go find
- 11:37some new friends. And if they really bug you and
- 11:41say why don't, why can't you do it?
- 11:43Why can't you see me, blah, blah, blah.
- 11:45You might have to sit down and tell them whatever the reason
- 11:48is, you're too negative. I've tried to give some input.
- 11:51You're not listening. I don't like being around that.
- 11:54Or if it's somebody that you feel is always taking advantage
- 11:57of you, you just have to be honest and tell them and let let
- 12:02the pieces fall where they may because it it's not your job to
- 12:05please everybody and contrary to the way we were raised.
- 12:11So it's good to set boundaries in all areas of your life.
- 12:16Yeah, yeah, So much good there. Thank you so much for that.
- 12:19I think it's it's one of those things that once we realize the
- 12:23power of a no and that we don't have to over explain for days
- 12:28after that and we can release that that thing that we all
- 12:32learned about, you know, abandoning ourselves to to
- 12:37please everybody else. You don't have to do that.
- 12:40It's not necessary. We need to take care of us too.
- 12:43Yeah, I love that. And.
- 12:44We can learn that they'll be, I mean, like if you set your goal
- 12:47that you're going to, you know, live with these boundaries and,
- 12:51you know, you might fall off and let somebody in.
- 12:54But if, you know, if you keep practicing it, you'll maintain
- 12:58it. And the people that if it's
- 13:00boundaries between other people, they will eventually get it that
- 13:04you're not going to, you're not going to acquiesce to their
- 13:07demands. Yeah, absolutely, absolutely.
- 13:11Talk to me about the mental, emotional, physical, spiritual
- 13:16health, connection and the work you've done and what you've
- 13:19learned about that. Well, I've learned that my job
- 13:23is me and that's and I'm supposed to focus on myself and
- 13:29that. And that isn't in a selfish way.
- 13:32That means that in order to be my best self, my truest self, or
- 13:37like you say, my most authentic self, I have to take care of
- 13:40myself. I have to get enough sleep.
- 13:42I have to get enough movement. I need to eat right.
- 13:45I need to have quiet time. I need to have friends.
- 13:48I need to be in nature. I need to be out in the sun.
- 13:52I like I like being around animals.
- 13:53I need to have an Ave. for growth, whether it's listening
- 13:57to books, reading books, listening to podcasts.
- 14:01Sometimes I need to just, you know, relax and not do anything.
- 14:07That's that one I'm still working on because it's hard.
- 14:12But I've learned that you have to take care of yourself before
- 14:15you can be the best version of yourself to help other people
- 14:19because you're calmer, you're more connected to all of the
- 14:25beings and animals and nature and all that.
- 14:28And, and you realize how connected we are and how you
- 14:33act, how it affects others. So I, I think I, that's the main
- 14:39thing I learned about is as I've got to take care of myself and
- 14:44then my, I need to do what's important to me.
- 14:47Like for me, it's my mission of writing the books and spreading
- 14:51the word about that. And also not, you know, don't
- 14:56forget there's, it's not just taking care of my physical and
- 15:00mental needs. It's it's also the camaraderie
- 15:06or friendships. So I don't want to spend my time
- 15:12being with someone I don't really want to be with, but if
- 15:15it's someone that I know I need to, I really want to touch base
- 15:19with them and see how their life is going.
- 15:21Or maybe I need to spend some time with my partner, even just
- 15:26watching a movie or going for a walk.
- 15:27It doesn't have to be a big trip or anything.
- 15:30Then I make time for those things because I'm starting to
- 15:33realize those those are the moments that are important.
- 15:37Life is all about getting your To Do List checked.
- 15:41I mean, they have a thing about a joke I remember hearing about
- 15:45when people die. Like is anybody going to
- 15:48remember that your inbox in the days where we used to have, I
- 15:51guess we have inboxes now, but. It's e-mail, but we used to
- 15:54have. On our desk, an actual box with
- 15:56papers and things. Like that, but.
- 15:59The joke used to be, well, when you die, it's is anybody going
- 16:03to care that your inbox was empty?
- 16:05I mean, your kids and your parents and stuff, they're not
- 16:09going to remember that. They're they're going to think
- 16:11about, did you make time to go to the beach with them?
- 16:13Did you sit down and play a game with them?
- 16:16Did you, you know, make your dad a birthday cake or, you know,
- 16:19they're going to remember those moments.
- 16:22So you have to just let it go and do what you can.
- 16:25One thing I've learned on my spiritual journey is that God or
- 16:29whoever our higher power is does not expect us to be perfect.
- 16:35And that was a huge thing for me because I was raised to be
- 16:39perfect. And, and, and when I strove to
- 16:42be a perfectionist, then of course, then I got slammed for,
- 16:45well, you tried to mark to be a perfectionist.
- 16:47And it's like, you know, where do you think I got that right?
- 16:51But it's it was a such a heavy burden off of me to know that
- 16:57God only requires that you try your best.
- 17:02That doesn't mean Slough off. It means really try your best.
- 17:06But if it doesn't come out, then it doesn't come out perfect.
- 17:09That's that's OK. Yeah, and also that it's not
- 17:14other people's job to judge me. So when you get that off your
- 17:19shoulder and, you know all it's required is your best efforts,
- 17:23it's like life is free. It's like, whoa, I can Twitter
- 17:27around and go do whatever I want now because I don't have to
- 17:30worry about this person saying something or this person and you
- 17:34and it, and it might be a little hard and people might not
- 17:37understand where you don't worry about other people judging you,
- 17:41but I truly don't. I, I'm, I'm not trying to be a
- 17:44jerk about it. I just other people are entitled
- 17:48to their opinions, as am I, and it's not my job to make them
- 17:52like me. Yeah, it's.
- 17:55Not my job. My job is to be me if you don't
- 17:58like me and I don't hold any hard feelings if somebody says,
- 18:03you know, they don't want anything to do with.
- 18:04I'll give some an example. So some of my books, the
- 18:07spiritual ones that involve channeling and how we're
- 18:10supposed to live and that sort of thing.
- 18:12I have had super religious people being quite
- 18:17confrontational and tell me I'm going to go to hell.
- 18:20And then I'm a terrible person and I'm just, well, you know,
- 18:24I'm, I'm sorry, this is what I think.
- 18:26But I just, I, I bless them and I just stay out of their realm
- 18:30because I don't want to upset them.
- 18:32And it's up to them if they want to listen to the lessons or not.
- 18:36I'm not, I'm not here to force anything down somebody's throat
- 18:40and vice versa. I don't I'm not going to let
- 18:42them shame me into hiding in a corner.
- 18:46I I spend most of my life in the closet.
- 18:49Yeah. Either either either in the when
- 18:52I was growing up, it's more like children should be seen, not
- 18:56heard. And you know, they don't want to
- 18:58hear anything from you. And then when I evolved as a
- 19:02spirit medium, I was, I had to eventually come out of the
- 19:05spiritual closet. So you, you really, once you can
- 19:10get over that about worrying about what other people think,
- 19:13your life has so much freedom. And then if you have a spiritual
- 19:17or religious background, knowing that your creator is is not
- 19:23expecting perfection. It's it's really can be life
- 19:26changing. Yeah, that freedom piece, man,
- 19:29that releasing that, that is such a heavy.
- 19:34We don't realize how heavy of a burden that is until we release
- 19:37it and we literally physically feel lighter.
- 19:40I literally physically feel lighter.
- 19:43This goes so nicely into showing up for yourself unapologetically
- 19:48and supporting other women in doing so as well.
- 19:51You are doing that and you are there as a resource for others
- 19:56who are ready to tap into it. And I love the way you stated
- 20:00that earlier is like, I might not be for everyone.
- 20:03That's OK. I'm here for those who are ready
- 20:06and willing and want to hear my experience and what's possible.
- 20:11And I think it's so interesting. When you have people, whatever
- 20:15it is you believe that somebody is in conflict with and I I'm
- 20:20like when we tap into curiosity rather than judgment, why is
- 20:24that firing you up so much? Why are you, you know, getting
- 20:28getting curious about that? But the, the openness and at
- 20:31some point, as you, as, as you embarked on this, you made a
- 20:35decision, I'm going to write these books.
- 20:37I'm going to start hosting these retreats.
- 20:40This to me is how you really show up unapologetically.
- 20:44And that is you to a court like I, I, I've engaged with you in
- 20:47person. You, you project that you have
- 20:50that spirit about you. When did you decide it was time
- 20:56to write the books and and start the retreats and open this up to
- 21:00other people? Well, I would say before I
- 21:06actually published my first books, I was given information
- 21:12to put in one of them. And then I was told in my quiet
- 21:17time, the voices, they told me to write the book and I did it.
- 21:21And then they told me to write another book and I did it and
- 21:23they told me to write another book and I did it.
- 21:25And then I wasn't getting them published because I was still
- 21:28working as a real estate broker. So finally I and I was worried
- 21:32about money. And you know, like if I quit my
- 21:34job, then how am I going to pay for everything, right?
- 21:38I don't want to downsize. I really like my Oasis, my home
- 21:42in the country. So I just let it go to God.
- 21:45I said, God, look, if you, if you want me to write these
- 21:48books, I'll write the books, but you figure out the money.
- 21:51Yeah, Yeah. And, and I can't.
- 21:54And it just happened that way. So I was actually told to write
- 21:57my first books, the the ones in the Janie J series.
- 22:01And I am having an I plan to have the 4th and last book in
- 22:05the series come out next spring, Single woman's side to
- 22:09Happiness. And so fingers crossed that I
- 22:11get my stuff together. I wrote that book a long time
- 22:14ago. I just didn't get it published,
- 22:17but my more recent books are spiritual in nature and I either
- 22:21wrote about my experience learning that I could channel
- 22:27beings from another dimension, or it's the actual discourses
- 22:31that I transcribed. So I'm, I know I'm not for
- 22:35everybody and I just hope that I set an example so that people,
- 22:41no, there is more to life. The first part, the Janie J
- 22:45part, is taking control of your own life and not believing what
- 22:49society tells you. And there's a there's a lot of
- 22:53encouragement and tips on the Janie j.net site, but the the
- 22:58others, the spiritual books are, are more are deeper.
- 23:03So once you've this is the way I look at it, once you get your
- 23:06life figured out and you realize that you're not a slave to
- 23:09everybody else and you can make your own decisions, then you
- 23:12start digging deeper, like, why am I here?
- 23:15What's the purpose of life? How should I be interacting with
- 23:18other people and deeper lessons. And those are the lessons that I
- 23:23channeled in the new IM document.
- 23:26And I'm want people to join it, the new IM movement, so they can
- 23:36encapsulate and learn these lessons and act that way.
- 23:40Because if people did, they're simple lessons like someone in
- 23:46fifth grade can understand it. They're simple lessons that are
- 23:51reminders of how we should be treating each other and how we
- 23:54should be interacting with the environment and animals and
- 23:57stuff. And if everybody starts doing
- 23:59that, it will totally change the face of the world.
- 24:03Because. It it'll be a different
- 24:05paradigm, yeah. And and people can get
- 24:09encouragement and find out about that at the new IM movement.com.
- 24:14OK. So I'm hoping that I'm setting
- 24:17an example to show how people can change and how they can
- 24:21grow. Yeah.
- 24:24And that's it. It's not anything I would have
- 24:28thought of. Like I thought this kind of
- 24:32stuff was kind of woo woo but and actually I can say honestly
- 24:36that I would be skeptical unless it happened to me.
- 24:40Yeah, yeah. And I think.
- 24:42And I think people need to know it's OK to be skeptical and it's
- 24:46OK you can do it too, because it's not like I'm some big whiz
- 24:49or something. Yeah, yeah.
- 24:52Thank you so much for sharing that.
- 24:55More and more people are realizing that they can connect
- 24:58to God or whatever they call it and, or, or beings angels.
- 25:04Some people have angels or fairies or all sorts of things
- 25:07that I never would have thought of and they're afraid to tell
- 25:12anybody. So I'm hoping that if I go
- 25:14forward and kind of take the brunt of it and they'll take
- 25:18that will take the steam or the embarrassment away and at least
- 25:22people will start using because it's really helpful, really
- 25:25helpful in life to have it. It's it's like having a secret
- 25:30advisor or a Google that you can ask anything.
- 25:35Yeah, well, and I think it's just that openness to being like
- 25:39there are different ways God created us all with different
- 25:42ways to connect with ourselves and with each other.
- 25:45And it's so if this is a a point of access for you, being open to
- 25:50it and being willing. And if it's not a point of
- 25:52access for to you, be happy and supportive of the people that it
- 25:56is. We all need to be connect, find
- 25:59our way to connect, find our purpose, find our why and and
- 26:03what what allows us to live as our healthiest and most
- 26:09authentic versions that we were created to be.
- 26:12And so being open and that there's multiple ways to do
- 26:15that. And you're providing an Ave. and
- 26:17a safe space to have these discussions and for other, you
- 26:21know, people that are experiences to be like, wait a
- 26:23minute, that sounds like what I'm experiencing too, because
- 26:25it's all about creating those safe spaces for all these
- 26:28opportunities you've created an absolute Oasis at in your home.
- 26:33I mean, it's just it's just simply settling to walk onto
- 26:37your property. It really is.
- 26:40When did you decide the retreats were going to be a part of this
- 26:44as well as the Union? Well, I started having events at
- 26:48my home and I made it a goal for the last two years to have one
- 26:52every month. And we would talk about
- 26:55different things. Is it like past lives or doing
- 27:01what I call soul connections, where you talk to somebody who's
- 27:03passed or maybe we talk to money.
- 27:05That's something people are always interested in.
- 27:09And that seemed well received, but it's it's you could I can
- 27:13only have a small group because we have it inside.
- 27:17But people kept asking for more. And then I had a friend that
- 27:20just kept. Pushing me so.
- 27:24I I actually before I had my own retreats at my house, I had a
- 27:28friend that would have, I would, she would use my home to have
- 27:32her retreats. Oh, gotcha.
- 27:35So I got a few dry runs, but it's anyway I, I, I finally
- 27:43realized that you can reach more people And so that's kind of the
- 27:46goal and, and let people know about it.
- 27:49And I do feel like I've been blessed with my home to first of
- 27:54all, be able to keep it through a divorce and be able to, you
- 28:00know, maintain it and keep it peaceful and all that.
- 28:03And I feel like it's a gift from God that I need to share with
- 28:07other people because it's, it's made, it's created for more than
- 28:11just one or two people to enjoy. So I, I take, I take a lot of
- 28:15pleasure in having people come over, especially to be outside.
- 28:20And I've had people come and say that the trees are talking to
- 28:23them and stuff. I'm like, OK, but I and I even
- 28:29had, I had a photo shoot outside one time and the photographer
- 28:33kept telling me to move certain way, like just move over an
- 28:36inch. And I'm like, wonder why?
- 28:38And she finally said, I want you to come over here and look at
- 28:41the picture I just took. And, and there was, I think she
- 28:45had me put my hand up and there was a fairy on my hand.
- 28:49Oh wow. And I'm like, I know she didn't
- 28:52like Photoshop this or anything. And, and so she said they're all
- 28:57over your yard, that that's what she was taking all these
- 29:00pictures up and, and they showed up in there.
- 29:03And I've never heard of that. But I, you know, so there's,
- 29:06there's something about this face that is helpful and
- 29:11enlightening to other people as well, because they seem to feel
- 29:15a sense of calm right away. Yeah, yeah.
- 29:19It has a very calming effect on your nervous system.
- 29:23It really does. It's very beautiful.
- 29:25Thank you so much for sharing that Your why and your values
- 29:29are very connected to this work you do.
- 29:33Talk to me about the evolution of separating what your why and
- 29:37values were versus all these other expectations you had
- 29:40historically been living out of. Well, I figured out the other
- 29:45way didn't work and it wasn't certainly wasn't making me
- 29:48happy. I wasn't getting to travel.
- 29:51I wasn't getting basically to have any fun.
- 29:54And I and it's like, I don't, you know, I didn't want to keep
- 29:57working three jobs plus taking care of everything at the house.
- 30:03So I just said there's got to be another way.
- 30:06So once I found the other way, it was it soothed my soul a lot
- 30:13better. And then I realized I found out
- 30:15what my mission was, which my I thought it was to write my first
- 30:19books, but apparently it's to write the new IM document series
- 30:26and then to teach it to people or make it available to them.
- 30:31So I, I, I try to first of all take care of me, whatever my
- 30:35needs are, and then take care of my mission.
- 30:38Not not working like non-stop, not like a workaholic, but
- 30:44trying to work on it and be mindful of what, what things are
- 30:48working and which, which things I've tried are actually reaching
- 30:52people and changing their lives. And then I try to all this is so
- 30:59you can live your best life. So I want to have some time left
- 31:02in my day to do that. Yeah.
- 31:05Unapologetic about it, like I'm not going to write anymore on my
- 31:09book today or answer any more emails.
- 31:11I'm going to go outside and take a walk and I'm going to go cut
- 31:15the sheep or something that makes me feel good and and not
- 31:18feel guilty about it. Feel like be more in tune with
- 31:23my body about what my body needs.
- 31:27That's something I think people really overlook.
- 31:30Like a lot of what I finally figured out is I would be sick
- 31:34and I kept getting sick, but I wasn't listening to my body.
- 31:38So if my body is like if I'm staying up late doing a work,
- 31:43especially previously, I would start getting a sore throat.
- 31:47And then I'd say just a few another hour of emails.
- 31:50I'll just get some another work done.
- 31:52And the next day I'd wake up and I'd have a cold.
- 31:55And now I know if, if I start feeling sick, then I need to go
- 32:00take some preventative medicine and get some rest.
- 32:03If I feel super tired, I better get some rest because I, if you
- 32:08don't, then your body's gonna revolt.
- 32:11And I've actually connected to my body, which I never had
- 32:15thought of, but a health code connected my body and asked what
- 32:19it wanted. And it would be screaming at me
- 32:22saying you need, I want more rest.
- 32:23You working me too hard. And I was like, whoa.
- 32:26It was like somebody talking back to me.
- 32:29But but really we all can do that.
- 32:32And, and if we're not at the stage where we can actually ask
- 32:38our body, we should at least be able to pick up on the clues.
- 32:41So I would encourage people to do that, to listen to their body
- 32:45because it can only serve you if if it if you let it rest and you
- 32:51give it the right food and stuff like that.
- 32:54Yeah. Just, it's not like a workhorse
- 32:57and you just keep beating it and beating it until it falls to the
- 33:00ground, right? And and that'll happen if you if
- 33:03you don't take care of. It absolutely, we live so
- 33:06disassociated from our bodies and we do exactly what you've
- 33:09talked about. You set such a great example. 01
- 33:11more thing, one more thing, one more thing and then we're like,
- 33:14my body's letting me letting me down.
- 33:16I I'm sick again. I'm like your body's not letting
- 33:19you down. Your body's been screaming at
- 33:22you for days, or I was shocked. Yeah, I was shocked to learn
- 33:27that, you know, I do things where I channel beings from
- 33:31other dimensions and, and and and so forth.
- 33:37So like, that's OK. And I and I can channel money,
- 33:40which is kind of an innate object.
- 33:43And. And explain what money thinks
- 33:46and how it works and stuff. But I never thought to talk to
- 33:49my own body. Yeah, like, like that was
- 33:53really. Whoa, that was interesting.
- 33:55Yeah, but it's helpful and I'm working on that one.
- 33:59Yeah, yeah. I think it's such an important
- 34:01lesson to learn. When I stopped living
- 34:03disassociated with my from my body and started actually
- 34:06feeling all that it was trying to tell me, it was like, oh,
- 34:09wow, my therapist is like, it's been doing that all along.
- 34:12You've just looked so connected from it.
- 34:14You weren't feeling it. Now you're open to it and you're
- 34:17feeling it and it's she's letting you know, hey, this.
- 34:20I need you to pay attention to me.
- 34:22I, I, I, you know, I'm, I'm past my service date here, you know,
- 34:27so I think. Well, it's kind of like most of
- 34:29us have felt our like if we're hungry, we have felt our stomach
- 34:33brow. Yes, that's pretty basic, but
- 34:36it's like that. But if it's happening all the
- 34:38time, maybe you just have to pay attention.
- 34:41Absolutely. You've talked throughout this
- 34:45conversation about, you know, you had lived out of other
- 34:49people's narratives and expectations and you have moved
- 34:54clearly into this place now where you are living out of your
- 34:58own expectations versus others talk.
- 35:02Is there any else? You've talked about this a lot.
- 35:04Is there anything else you want to add to that of what it's like
- 35:08to go from doing the the first, which so many of us do.
- 35:13We grew up with these narratives and these societal expectations
- 35:17and we're told what's supposed to make us happy.
- 35:20And if you follow this and we never stopped to ask if it's
- 35:23what we actually want. And we're just told, oh, this
- 35:26will make me happy if I do, if I go do this and do that and
- 35:30follow this script. We'll describe script isn't
- 35:32built just it we're each unique people.
- 35:36There's no one script. So talk to me about what it's
- 35:39been like for you to live off your own script finally.
- 35:44Well, I think one thing everybody needs to know is we
- 35:47can literally do anything we want.
- 35:50We can happy or do anything we want that it's just a human
- 35:54constraints that society puts on us that we think we can't.
- 35:59I'll give an example. So when I was 65, well, first of
- 36:04all, about age 62, I started going to the gym because I was
- 36:10overweight and and I got in shape and then I got recruited
- 36:15to be in a masters level running team, which doesn't master
- 36:20doesn't mean you're like super good.
- 36:21It just means you're over 50. So I was in my 60s and is most
- 36:26is the team mostly with men, but there was one girl who's the one
- 36:31that got talked me into it. So we started running and it
- 36:35became a thing and we really practice a lot.
- 36:38And I said, well, I don't want to be, I don't want to go to any
- 36:40meets. And they eventually talked me
- 36:42into meets. Then they they said, well, you
- 36:44qualified for nationals so you should go to nationals.
- 36:47So Long story short, after many, many miles of running at age 65,
- 36:54I went to the National Senior Games and I placed in the top
- 36:58ten in two track events. Wow.
- 37:00Which for someone who went to PE in I think it was 7th grade,
- 37:07they put me in special PE because I couldn't touch my
- 37:10toes. So it was like a great, you
- 37:13know, I don't know what it was showing them that I could do it.
- 37:19So I really, I think I had Harvard because I had forgotten
- 37:23about that. I think I harbored that inside
- 37:25of me and of course I don't run anymore because it's all
- 37:29consuming and I have other things I want to get done.
- 37:33But it was it, it showed me, and I think it showed people that I
- 37:36knew that you really can do anything if you put your mind to
- 37:39it. Now.
- 37:40Of course you got to put the effort into it and the time and
- 37:43practice and all that, you know, I mean, it was horrible.
- 37:47Yeah. I mean, it was like, I, I
- 37:51wouldn't, I don't want to ever do it again.
- 37:52Put it down and and but I was proud of myself that I did it.
- 37:57So I proved it to myself that I could.
- 38:00Yeah. And I think that you need to be
- 38:05strong enough and willing to do the work for what you want and
- 38:09then and that you can't achieve anything.
- 38:11The other thing is you need to be, and I don't know if you'll
- 38:15have to beat this out, but you have to learn to be
- 38:18unfuckworthable. Yeah, I had to practice saying
- 38:22that word because. I love that.
- 38:26I had to practice saying it over and over because you have to
- 38:29learn that you don't. You're not concerned about what
- 38:32other people think. When I was decided to quit my
- 38:36job in real estate to publish books, you know, I was met with,
- 38:40well, you can't do that. That's your job.
- 38:42And it's like, yes, I can. And and then you just go do it.
- 38:47Or if if you any big thing you go that you want to step out
- 38:52like a publish a book, you can't do that.
- 38:55Well, yes, I can. And and you have to, you know,
- 38:59channel beings from another dimension.
- 39:00Well, as a matter of fact, I have.
- 39:03And you just have to go with it and go, I'm not going to worry
- 39:06about what people say about and and learn to do your own thing.
- 39:11I mean, I remember what, in my early 60s, oh, I think it was
- 39:16right after I was in the National Games, Super Games, my
- 39:20reward to myself was to go to Croatia for three weeks by
- 39:25myself. And I started travelling once I
- 39:29was single, I started travelling by myself, but more locally or
- 39:33even in the States. But I'd never gone overseas by
- 39:35myself. I'd gone overseas before, but
- 39:38with family or in a group or something.
- 39:40So I, I said, I'm going to go to Croatia for three weeks by
- 39:44myself and I'm going to go to these classes and I'm going to
- 39:47rent a place and live on the economy and stuff.
- 39:50And people were like, oh, you can't do that.
- 39:53You can't do that. That's too scary.
- 39:55And it's like, I used to live in Turkey, like how?
- 39:59And I went to the former Yugoslavia at least three times.
- 40:03It's not like it's not like a third world country or
- 40:07something, right? I'll figure it out and but but
- 40:11that's the kind of thing you have to just go, no, I'm going
- 40:13to do it. And, and you won't always get
- 40:16where you want the first time. And so the naysayers are going
- 40:19to put you down and they're going to that's going to be
- 40:21fodder for them to prove their way.
- 40:23But just don't listen. Just keep doing it.
- 40:26Because what I found is the people that complain the most
- 40:29about what you're doing when you step out of what's normal, they
- 40:32are the ones that are sitting back on the sidelines judging
- 40:36and they're never doing anything.
- 40:38They're not growing, they're not improving.
- 40:40They're just saying, Oh well, look at them and look at them
- 40:42and they shouldn't be doing that.
- 40:43That's dangerous. And it's like, but you know,
- 40:46when I leave this earth, I want to be like all used up.
- 40:50I've done everything I could to live my life to the fullest.
- 40:55I mean, I don't want to be like looking all perfect and pristine
- 41:00and everything, but, you know, I never left town.
- 41:03I never went to a concert, I never traveled.
- 41:05I never, you know, like what's like, what's the point of taking
- 41:10up space if that's how you're going to?
- 41:12Live, it's like. So I I would encourage people to
- 41:15not be afraid, go out and live their best life.
- 41:18Part of it will be introspective, figuring out what
- 41:20it is and how you want to live, because you get to write the
- 41:23script. You might not get to write the
- 41:26beginning of the story, but you can write the end.
- 41:29Yeah, so good. Janie.
- 41:31Thank you so much for all of that.
- 41:33That was fantastic. Talk to me about embracing your
- 41:38layers, all the pieces and parts of your story that make up who
- 41:41you are. When I work with women and
- 41:43you've heard me talk about this, I talk a lot about the ability
- 41:48to to in order to really connect with who you are in order to
- 41:51really embrace your value that you are valuable because you are
- 41:55worthy because you or have value simply because you exist,
- 42:01because you were born not based off of what you do or your
- 42:04titles. And you get to choose.
- 42:07And I think we miss out on that. You get to choose peace, which
- 42:10you talked about so beautifully. But talk to me about what you're
- 42:15embracing layers journey has been like.
- 42:18And with that impact you live out feel so succinctly that
- 42:23finding empowerment, embracing layers, peace also the impact
- 42:27it's had on your relationship with yourself as well as your
- 42:30relationship with other people. Well, I think it all starts with
- 42:35you, and you need to learn to love yourself the way you are.
- 42:39Like, there's certain things about me that people would
- 42:43criticize and I and I learned to either accept them or look at
- 42:49them like GIFs, like people would say to me, oh, you're so
- 42:54gullible, you're too trusting. And and then I think, yeah, I
- 42:59am, but I try not to prejudge anybody.
- 43:02And then, you know, I can always change my mind later.
- 43:05But I finally, one day I looked at that and I said, well, if I
- 43:09wasn't so naive and trusting, do you think I would have been able
- 43:13to channel these messages? No, it's only because I'm like,
- 43:18well, what is it? Tell me what it is you want to
- 43:20say and then I'll write it down and see if it makes any sense.
- 43:23But so it ended up for me, it ended up being a good thing.
- 43:27And so I think that when we learn to love ourselves, no
- 43:31matter how we are, it helps to shape us and our journey.
- 43:35So I think that's really important.
- 43:38And there's, I've learned that there are many layers and
- 43:41there's more to a person than just their job or their title,
- 43:44whether it's mom or wife or worker, there's, there's more to
- 43:49people. And so when I realized that
- 43:52about myself, then I can give that same grace to someone else.
- 43:57So I don't know if you, I, I've observed this.
- 44:01So some people will call like some sort of repairman or
- 44:05something and they'll call and they'll be mad when they don't
- 44:08answer the phone and they'll be mad when they don't call them
- 44:10back the next day and say they're trying to get something
- 44:13fixed. Well, they'll be all irate.
- 44:16Well, they didn't call back. They should be more
- 44:17professional. Well, did you think that like
- 44:20maybe something happened? Like maybe they're
- 44:23self-employed. They don't have a secretary or
- 44:25their secretary's out sick or maybe they're on a big job and
- 44:28they came home late and they couldn't return the call.
- 44:31You know, they give the people you're trying to contact some
- 44:35grace that maybe they have other things going on in their life.
- 44:39And so like if I contact somebody and they don't contact
- 44:44me right away, I wait a little bit of time.
- 44:47I don't expect them to call me back in 5 minutes.
- 44:50And then when somebody sends an e-mail, I don't expect it to be
- 44:55happen in 5 minutes. It's like realize that the other
- 45:00people have different layers to them, like they've got they've
- 45:04got their family, they maybe they're taking care of parents,
- 45:07maybe their kids sick and and they have, maybe they have money
- 45:11worries and there's different layers.
- 45:14So I think the first thing is you need to realize that you're
- 45:17multi dimensional. There's more to you than just
- 45:21the just the Janie J that you meet at a networking event.
- 45:25Yeah, and and there's and it's the same for other people.
- 45:28So you see it in yourself and then you start seeing it in
- 45:30others. But we do have a lot of layers
- 45:33and sometimes it's it's a balance.
- 45:37Some people use that term work life balance.
- 45:40I don't particularly like that. I think it's more like work,
- 45:43like harmony. It's more of not just work in
- 45:49life. There's the other stuff, all,
- 45:51all the other layers. And it's the harmony of all that
- 45:55you know, your spiritual being, your physical being, and the the
- 46:01different roles that you play and your contributions.
- 46:03So yeah. All needs to be in harmony, not
- 46:07and, and realizing that really helps.
- 46:10I love that harmony utilization. I think that's such a more at
- 46:15all-encompassing word than balance.
- 46:18It makes space for all of it. That's so good and I and I agree
- 46:22with you so much. When you are able to connect
- 46:25with yourself, know your own value, show yourself compassion,
- 46:29show yourself empathy, it opens you up to be able to, to show
- 46:34that for others as well. We are, you know, and, but I
- 46:38really believe you've got to do the work on you first because
- 46:42you were talking about earlier, you know, 10.
- 46:44It tends to be in life, people that are critical or judgmental
- 46:50are people that are comfortable in their life, but they're not
- 46:54curious about what's possible. And they've decided to settle
- 46:59for the comfort minus the curiosity and which doesn't
- 47:04allow for more expansion, more growth, more openness.
- 47:09And so when you're able to extend that to yourself, it
- 47:13opens it up to others and there's a lot of freedom in
- 47:15that. And then you're you're showing
- 47:17yourself when you're open to that, you're open to so many
- 47:20more possibilities, and you're also inviting other people into
- 47:24that. So you create more harmonious
- 47:26relationships because of that connection too.
- 47:31That curiosity is is really essential.
- 47:35It's essential to a person's growth and and I used to ask a
- 47:40lot of questions when I was little act in one of my books I
- 47:44put in there my my aunt used to babysit me and she and so I kept
- 47:49every time I'd ask her all these questions, she'll she'd just say
- 47:52because. And then I'd ask another
- 47:54question, she'd say because. And finally one day I went and
- 47:57asked my mom, mom, what's it? Because, and I understand I was
- 48:03probably getting on my aunt's nerves, but I think the
- 48:05curiosity is important because if you, for instance, take
- 48:10travel, if you aren't curious about why other people look at
- 48:15world differently, maybe you need to go there and visit.
- 48:18Maybe you need to experience their culture, their food, their
- 48:21religions, or learn about it. And that opens up a whole bunch.
- 48:25But most people are just content to stay in their comfort zone
- 48:30and do the same thing over and over.
- 48:33And well, it's good enough. It's good enough.
- 48:34We'll just stay like this. It's safe.
- 48:37And I get that. And I've actually asked the
- 48:40universe, I've asked about people like that, like what can
- 48:45I or like a certain person to help them get out of that and
- 48:48see that there's more. And I got a very interesting
- 48:52answer. So the answer is that some
- 48:56people are here to show the difference, the end of the game,
- 48:59the difference between staying in your comfort zone and not
- 49:03expanding, not growing, just existing versus somebody that
- 49:08grows. And it's and and we do need to
- 49:10see that the two different ways so that people that haven't
- 49:15decided which way they're going to go have an example to follow.
- 49:19And I never thought of that. And and they also said that
- 49:22who's to say they're not happy? That right, you're happy isn't
- 49:26going to necessarily make them happy.
- 49:29Sure. Yeah, all of that.
- 49:31I was just like, well, how could anybody be happy in that
- 49:33situation? Like that really sucks, but it's
- 49:37not for us to judge so. It's not.
- 49:40Well, my job. Yeah, really good point there.
- 49:42Thank you so much for sharing that.
- 49:44That's a really good a different way of looking at it that I
- 49:47think it's important. And again, remembering we are
- 49:49responsible for ourselves. We are not responsible for
- 49:53others. We can share what we know and,
- 49:56and, and be excited about it and hope to invite and try to invite
- 50:00other people along. And also it's their decision to
- 50:03decide whether to do that or not.
- 50:05And it's not our job to keep banging our head against the
- 50:07wall to try to get them to do something that they're not
- 50:10feeling in alignment with. They're not, they're
- 50:15comfortable, whatever the reason is.
- 50:17And so being able to release that too.
- 50:18I think if there's a lot of freedom in that, like I'm going
- 50:21to share, I'm going to open, I'm going to invite people in.
- 50:23And I'm also not going to try to force anything on people that
- 50:27aren't wanting to go down this road with me.
- 50:30I think there's it's there's that that is.
- 50:33The other thing is sometimes people might get ready later and
- 50:38they just have to be close to a new way of thinking over and
- 50:41over and over. And, and you might not be the
- 50:44one that makes that they make that decision to change, but you
- 50:49might have been one of the pebbles.
- 50:50And then finally they said, oh, well, maybe there is another
- 50:54way. Yeah.
- 50:55And if they don't get it, then that's on.
- 50:57That's that's their choice. So and and and just be OK with
- 51:01it. Yeah, Oh, so good.
- 51:04All right, as we wind down here, share with me 5 activities that
- 51:09nourish you. First of all, the quiet time
- 51:14with by alone. I like to be outside, I like to
- 51:18go play with my animals and I like to spend time with my
- 51:23boyfriend or my family or maybe even good friends.
- 51:28It it calms me down and keeps me centered.
- 51:31And then I'd say the last thing is travel is that just does
- 51:35something. And even though when I go
- 51:37traveling, I usually come home exhausted and, and have, you
- 51:41know, way too much work to do, but it is it's really great to
- 51:47see different parts of the world and be exposed to how other
- 51:50cultures live. It gives you a much greater
- 51:53understanding of the world we're in and interacting with others
- 51:57and that there's no such thing as the right way to do life as
- 52:02people that in people that live in third world countries that we
- 52:08think don't have much. And what would they have to be
- 52:10happy about? I've observed that some of those
- 52:13people are the happiest. Yeah, yeah.
- 52:17They're it's, it's pretty important to have that awareness
- 52:21of it's not just my way or the highway.
- 52:24It's like there's many ways. Yeah, yeah, many ways to exist
- 52:30in the world, many different things were called to the
- 52:33simplicity of being to able to connect with you and know which
- 52:37know what you need. And, and it, it doesn't always.
- 52:39And I think, you know, being aware of that travel is such a
- 52:43great educator. I think it just makes us it, it
- 52:46makes us more open and curious and teaches us so much about the
- 52:52different ways to exist and connect with each other and with
- 52:56the world. I, I think it's one of the most
- 52:57important things if you have, if you have the ability to do it, I
- 53:01think it's just one of the great learning opportunities that we
- 53:05have. Well, if it's a goal for
- 53:08someone, they can find a way because I travelled a lot, even
- 53:12when I was broke and we did things like use air miles, use
- 53:17people's time shares, get special deals.
- 53:22There's all, there's all sorts of ways you can, you can do it
- 53:25if you and, and then you can always do the manifesting thing.
- 53:29Like when I went to Croatia, I thought I had knew how much it
- 53:34was going to cost. And then when I got accepted to
- 53:37the school, the classes, they then they told me what the
- 53:41registration was and all that. And it was like, oh, it was
- 53:44going to cost more than what I thought.
- 53:45And I didn't have the money. And then people were like, well,
- 53:49you aren't going to go, are you? And I go, yeah, I'm going to go.
- 53:52I just need to wait until I figure out the money part.
- 53:55And then I got a Costco rebate check and it was.
- 54:00And so it's like. The universe will send it to you
- 54:03if you really want. So there are ways, there are
- 54:06ways to travel. And so people shouldn't let that
- 54:11stop them. I mean, literally, if you want
- 54:14to travel like even just like a, a, a trip somewhere in your own
- 54:18state, you can do something like pack your lunch every day and
- 54:24instead of spending money eating out.
- 54:27And then you could save that money.
- 54:28And before you know it, you have $100 a month and then you have
- 54:321200 a year and then you know, then you can go somewhere.
- 54:35So there are ways. It's just whether or not it's
- 54:37important enough to you. And I think it's worth it.
- 54:40Yeah. Thank you for that.
- 54:41That was such good insight on that.
- 54:44All right, 5 words on how you want to feel the next six
- 54:47months. I want to feel healthy and
- 54:53rested and calm and happy and I don't know what the word would
- 55:02be like. Fulfilled.
- 55:06And myself, yeah. I love that.
