- 0:12Hello, Melissa Crick here in field podcast host.
- 0:15Glad to be here with you for another one-on-one empowerment
- 0:19time with me today. We're going to talk about the
- 0:22core messaging today, a bit of the framework and have some
- 0:27phrasing and terms you've heard me use a lot lately, especially
- 0:32as I've really continue to formulate those things that I
- 0:37can really talk to people easily as an invitation into what this
- 0:42framework can mean for them, what it's meant to me.
- 0:46So I want to give you a little more background of that today.
- 0:48Lately you've, you've heard me say a lot and sometimes I end
- 0:52episodes with you are worthy, you are valuable, and you get to
- 0:57choose. Last week I talked about my 3
- 1:00pillars that really help guide and for me and bring me back to
- 1:05the framework that I take a look at as I'm looking at different
- 1:09opportunities as I'm sharing the message with people.
- 1:11So I wanted to give you a little background on on how I landed
- 1:14there and maybe how you can land on a three key principles or
- 1:20guiding points that you can turn to to help you bring you back to
- 1:24home, bring you back to the framework reminds you of what it
- 1:28is that guides you, what you, what your values are, what helps
- 1:32you decide the trajectory you're going to go in different areas
- 1:36of your life. And so we're going to get into
- 1:39that today. Hopefully you find this helpful
- 1:41and supported. And again, as always, if you
- 1:43need more work or time on this, the links are in our show notes
- 1:48and on the resources page, resources page on our website of
- 1:51how you can work with me directly on this via one-on-one
- 1:56empowerment sessions, my online course or me coming and speaking
- 2:00to your group via keynote workshop, whatever it is that
- 2:02works for you. And I do those virtually and in
- 2:04person. So we can find all kinds of
- 2:06ways. We also got our book.
- 2:07So there are all kinds of ways we can support you in this, but
- 2:10hopefully this gives you the boost you need and, and reminds
- 2:13you of how you can do this for yourself and you can share this
- 2:16with those in your circle as well.
- 2:18So for this core messaging, for this framework, things that
- 2:25really guide me and thank you to my friend Drea Ginto, who really
- 2:28helped me with this because she really helps me hone in and
- 2:32really break down the things I cared about to make it into
- 2:35something that was really easy to share and, you know, in
- 2:38alignment with me. So it starts with a big idea or
- 2:42core narrative. What cultural tension or problem
- 2:46am I trying to solve? And this is a question you can
- 2:49ask yourself in your businesses and volunteer work that you do
- 2:53that's really intentional in the community, in your faith spaces,
- 2:57even in your home as you're coming together trying to figure
- 3:00out how to manage things best in your home.
- 3:03If you've got a busy environment with a lot of people going in a
- 3:06lot of different directions there, there's so many ways you
- 3:09can do this. We're such a reactive society,
- 3:13but we need to be a more responsive society.
- 3:16I see so many times we're reacting after the fact instead
- 3:20of getting upstream and getting places and things in place now
- 3:25that when that happens, we're responding to it, not reacting
- 3:29to it and trying to figure it out on the fly.
- 3:32Going to a root versus band aiding systems is really an
- 3:38important part of this. The power of the pause, taking a
- 3:43moment. We're in such a hurry all the
- 3:46time. That's why this quiet time and
- 3:49journaling time and reflection time without our devices is such
- 3:55an important time to take that power of the pause.
- 3:59Think about what, Lance, what's coming to mind for you?
- 4:02What's I mean up bubbling up for you?
- 4:05When we do our own work and we do these things, we ask
- 4:10ourselves these questions, we create these these narratives
- 4:14and values and principles for us to live by, it ripples out on
- 4:18how we engage with the world if we would just take time to do
- 4:24our own work. And this is going to sound
- 4:27simplistic to you, but I honestly believe this, and this
- 4:30comes as a reflection of my own journey, but I really believe if
- 4:34we would take the time to do our own work, know our own value,
- 4:38and operate from a stable foundation based on who we are,
- 4:44not what we do, Knowing our value is not based on how many
- 4:49things we've accomplished, but that we exist in the world.
- 4:53It would solve 99% of the problems that come up in how we
- 4:59interact and respond and react to problems and challenges and
- 5:04conflicts and relationships we're in in the world.
- 5:07I really believe that. And you can tell when you
- 5:12interact with people by the reactions, whether they have
- 5:17done the work or not. We see so many knee jerk
- 5:19defensive reactions, so many times people feel threatened and
- 5:25so they respond accordingly to try to ascertain some sort of
- 5:30pretend power over the situation rather than stopping again the
- 5:35pause and really thinking about why is this making me feel so
- 5:40reactive? Why am I so defensive?
- 5:44Is there a real reason for that here, or is that a reflection of
- 5:49work I need to do on myself? This this can be a last ditch
- 5:55effort to try to retain a false sense of power.
- 6:00We see this a lot in our workplaces.
- 6:02We see this a lot as women challenge and become more
- 6:06confident and stronger in some spaces.
- 6:09There are some people that are really threatened by that.
- 6:11They don't want the old power dynamic to change.
- 6:14They like the way things are because it's serving them.
- 6:17They may not even realize it. That's the other thing too.
- 6:20It's just the way it's always been done.
- 6:23And so if we all step back and do that work on ourselves, we
- 6:27eliminate a lot of these issues that come up in a very reactive
- 6:33many times, most of the time, especially in these power
- 6:38dynamics we're talking about can be that are really damaging and,
- 6:41and and actually cause more problems.
- 6:43Then then they might solve something temporarily, but long
- 6:46term they can create more problems.
- 6:48So many times when we when we react this way, when we rewrite,
- 6:54rewrite, rewrite, rewrite. We don't need to rewrite
- 6:59anything, rewrite how we evaluate our own time, energy
- 7:06and investing it back to self. And then when we do that, we're
- 7:13ready and willing and happy to support others in that as well
- 7:18because we've done our own work first.
- 7:20So remembering so many times, I think too, when we feel, well,
- 7:27this is just the way it is. This is just the way I am.
- 7:31We don't stop to think, is it or is that something I've learned
- 7:34that I can unlearn? Is this actually something I
- 7:37inherited genetically or is this just something that's been
- 7:41passed down so much that it's been taught that way and it, you
- 7:47know, communicated that way. So getting back to remembering
- 7:53that we have choice. Sometimes things happen to us
- 7:55and we don't have a choice about that, but we can choose how to
- 7:59respond to it, what kind of decisions to make out of it that
- 8:03are going to be healthy and helpful for us and for those
- 8:06around us. So remembering these things and
- 8:09so asking myself these questions and working with my friend Drea
- 8:13Ginto on this really helped me to come up with just these three
- 8:18core messaging pillars that you've heard me talk about.
- 8:22You're worth all of it. You're valuable because of who
- 8:25you are, not what you do. And you get to choose.
- 8:32And this really is like, oh, it kind of when I say this, I'm
- 8:36like, Oh yeah, that's right. I do.
- 8:38I do get to choose. But what does that really mean?
- 8:43You're worth all of it. You're worthy of rest, joy,
- 8:48healthy boundaries, softness, ambition, and being seen, known,
- 8:55and heard without needing to earn it.
- 8:59The core emotion here is we start believing that we're
- 9:03deserving of good things, that we're deserving of valuing
- 9:07ourselves, that we're worth all of it.
- 9:10That we're worthy not because of what we did, but because of who
- 9:14we are and that we're here. And that goes nicely into your
- 9:18valuable because of who you are, not what you do.
- 9:23Your being holds more power than you're doing.
- 9:27Productivity doesn't define your worth.
- 9:31Presence does. That core emotion is belonging.
- 9:36I belong here. I belong in this space, I belong
- 9:40in this, in this force, in these relationships, in this
- 9:44opportunity, in this life. And that you get to choose.
- 9:49Every moment invites you to choose.
- 9:51Alignment over approval, wholeness over performance, and
- 9:56truth over expectation. That core emotion here is
- 10:01empowerment. We feel embored.
- 10:04Oh, wait a minute. Yeah, that happened.
- 10:06But I get to choose XY and Z and how I move forward from this and
- 10:10how I respond to this. And this can be such a key thing
- 10:13to remember. When something really hard
- 10:15happens and, and really painful and really difficult, you can
- 10:20remind yourself that there's still choice for you.
- 10:24And then this invites some language shifts so you can talk
- 10:29about, you know, self-care can also thought about as self
- 10:33fulfillment, self choice instead of hustle.
- 10:37We're thinking about harmony and wholeness and and within
- 10:42balance. We're thinking about where do
- 10:44healthy boundaries come in here to help me find that harm and
- 10:48that balance Instead of productivity, we're really
- 10:51thinking about presence. What is my presence emulating
- 10:56today? Is my presence showing that I'm
- 10:59intentional about being here, that I'm paying attention, that
- 11:02I'm fully in the moment, that I'm not distracted and worried
- 11:05about the next thing I'm trying to get done?
- 11:07On the To Do List, instead of fixing ourselves, we don't see
- 11:13ourselves as a problem or an obstacle to fix.
- 11:17We see the power of feeling ourselves, feeling the emotions,
- 11:22not seeing emotions as positive or negative, but seeing them as
- 11:27clues, as opportunities. Some may be more difficult than
- 11:32others. Some may be more joyful than
- 11:34others with their opportunities, their clues, invitations to feel
- 11:39so that you can address and acknowledge what it is that
- 11:42needs to be tended to, that you're not stuffing or ignoring
- 11:46or feeling shame or embarrassment, or you know
- 11:50things that you know. You're really inviting yourself
- 11:54into it and allowing that to happen.
- 11:56You're being tender and patient and empathetic with yourself and
- 12:00instead of feeling like you have to prove your worth, you're
- 12:03honoring your worth. You're knowing your worth.
- 12:06You're like I talked about last week, you're living like the VIP
- 12:10that you are. And this really helps us,
- 12:13especially as women, but all of us, it helps us to stop over
- 12:18performing and start feeling our way back to freedom, alignment
- 12:24and self worth. And so I really wanted to share
- 12:27that with you today. I wanted to give you this
- 12:30opportunity to have an insight on how I got here and why I feel
- 12:35like it's so important. Again, big shout out to drag
- 12:39into her link will be in the show notes on how you can work
- 12:43with her as well. If this really got your
- 12:45attention to like, oh, I could help.
- 12:47I could use somebody to help me guide me this.
- 12:49But now that I have this, I want to help you with it as well.
- 12:53So if this is something that you want to start really embodying
- 12:57in your life, let's get together.
- 12:59Let's have a one-on-one conversation.
- 13:02Let's see if there's other tools in my toolbox here that can help
- 13:06you really embody this. Or maybe this is what you needed
- 13:08today and you just needed that reminder, whatever that is.
- 13:10Those resources and links are in the show notes and on our
- 13:14resources page at embracinglayers.com.
- 13:17I want to thank you so much for being with me today, and I want
- 13:21you to remember this last thing for the Feel Framework.
- 13:26For me, this is what it really comes down to.
- 13:29The Feel Framework is a radical reimagining of self leadership
- 13:34for women who are tired of performing, perfecting, and
- 13:38pleasing instead of chasing external measures of success.
- 13:43It guides you to live from your fullest expression, grounded in
- 13:48your values, fueled by self trust, and embodied through
- 13:52everyday choices. This makes this framework not
- 13:57just about Wellness, but about agency, identity and cultural
- 14:03power. So I hope this gave you again
- 14:06some helpful insights, some things to remember.
- 14:09If you need additional resources, go to
- 14:11embracinglayers.com. Let's get together.
- 14:13Let's have a 30 minute free time together and just talk about how
- 14:16this can support you or share this episode with other women.
- 14:20If this is what you needed today to re to awaken you to this.
- 14:24I'm I'm glad I could be that for you.
- 14:26And just remember, we have a ton of resources to support you if
- 14:29you need for the support. Thank you so much for being with
- 14:32me today. Remember, you are worthy.
- 14:34You are valuable, and you get to choose.
- 14:37Take good care of yourselves and we'll see you next time here on
- 14:39the Field podcast.
