- Jessica Figueroa: Hello, everyone. Today is something I can be very, very guilty of. Where are my ADHD friends out there? Okay. How about the illusion of multitasking? The lie, the downright dirty lie that multitasking is possible. Because what it's really is and needs to be called is something called attention shifting. So imagine. You're shifting your attention on a tennis match. You're going one way and the next way and the next way and the next way and your next way. That's really what's happening when you're multitasking. And there is, they have done studies to show that you are ineffective and less effective. You're not doing anything great when you're multitasking. Now, if you don't need to do it great, wonderful. Let's say, for example, going to the bathroom, number two. You can multitask and read a devotional. Why? Because You are in a good habit of going number two. You have got it down, pat. You know what to do. You don't have to think about it. But ever taking a toddler to the toilet, there's a lot of focus required to get that job done. Well, now you've mastered it. So pull out your devotional, put your phone away and read while you're on the jawn. However, there are tasks that you should not be multitasking because they are important and they require your attention. And they will be done better and with more precision if you stop trying to multitask. So where are you shifting your attention back and forth, back and forth? You know, they say that one internet interruption, like you know, being f distracted by something, it can take up to 15 minutes to get refocused back on a task. So where are you letting things grab your attention and you're losing 15 minutes here or 15 minutes there, trying to get your attention back on the task at hand? So just for today, we are gonna pay attention to the times we multitask in the day. And when we need to stop multitasking and focus on one thing at a time, and when it is okay to multitask. Only you can decide what's right for you. But multitasking is not effective or efficient. Therefore, it shouldn't be in everything in our lives. And here on this podcast, we work on getting better every day. I'll see you guys tomorrow. Have a great day.
