- 0:28[SPEAKER_01]: uh... right welcome back to the built-go podcast from host him lines joined in studio as always by rainy hanks then what's up man day good day good day we are continuing our series of the seven habits of winning gyms uh... this is a presentation that i opened the gross summit day two with and uh... it goes this the foundational principles the second operating system when you follow these seven rules uh... you're guaranteed to win like if you follow them so
- 0:57[SPEAKER_01]: We finished up with a habit to now we're going to have it number three.
- 1:00[SPEAKER_01]: Habit number three is winning gems to keep the growth engine running.
- 1:04[SPEAKER_01]: What do I mean by that?
- 1:05[SPEAKER_01]: Well, it's first, if you've ever hit a home run with a Facebook ad, let's just say, or a campaign and you just got so busy, you told the agency, hey, hey, we can't take all these leads.
- 1:18[SPEAKER_01]: Can you shut it off?
- 1:21[SPEAKER_01]: That's like a death sentence.
- 1:22[SPEAKER_01]: What do I mean by that?
- 1:23[SPEAKER_01]: Because you then kill your momentum.
- 1:26[SPEAKER_01]: you look at or if you think about momentum like a train on a track if it's at a dead stop and you've got to get that locomotive going you got to you got to put a lot of effort a lot of fuel and you could see like in the old movies where they would just start and it would just be like all the power and wouldn't go anywhere.
- 1:47[SPEAKER_01]: It would just barely move an inch and then two inches and three inches.
- 1:50[SPEAKER_01]: Well when you're
- 1:53[SPEAKER_01]: when you have a home run campaign, and that's like the trains at full speed.
- 1:58[SPEAKER_01]: It doesn't take a lot of energy to keep it going.
- 2:01[SPEAKER_01]: So John C. Maxwell says momentum is easier to steer than start.
- 2:05[SPEAKER_01]: I like it.
- 2:06[SPEAKER_01]: And it's true.
- 2:07[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 2:08[SPEAKER_01]: It's easier to steer it when it's moving, but to get it from a dead stop to get it to go full momentum, and two often Jim owners just shut it off and then it takes months to get that momentum back.
- 2:21[SPEAKER_01]: So winning gyms never turn it off.
- 2:23[SPEAKER_01]: Will they scale it up or down?
- 2:24[SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely.
- 2:25[SPEAKER_01]: They can always shift funds from one thing to another or change ads, but like to disappear off of marketing and then try to reappear.
- 2:34[SPEAKER_01]: That's that's the distance.
- 2:35[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and you hit it with the
- 2:38[SPEAKER_02]: process and play right like it's not the marketing that's a problem in that situation.
- 2:42[SPEAKER_02]: It's your ability to onboard your ability to service and that's one of the reasons why when we coach Jim owners like we dial all of that stuff and those systems have to be dialed in the goal is to be able to
- 2:55[SPEAKER_02]: on board and service your clients with the ability to scale.
- 2:58[SPEAKER_02]: You don't take that as far and fast as you can.
- 3:01[SPEAKER_02]: And if you have to show off your marketing, because that's the little instrument in the business, then you have to go address that.
- 3:07[SPEAKER_02]: Right?
- 3:08[SPEAKER_02]: And that's kind of just probably the takeaway from this show is making sure that your systems back,
- 3:14[SPEAKER_02]: You know, after the marketing, your acquisition, and it could resume your conversion, abilities, your onboarding, and then being able to put them into a service and get them into the schedule to be able to service those clients, all of that stuff has to be dialed in.
- 3:28[SPEAKER_02]: And if you're in a position where you have to shut off marketing to your point,
- 3:34[SPEAKER_02]: There's so much outside of the things that you we know are happening when you set up an ad that like even just the algorithms and all the other stuff that's at play right it is very difficult to get that same level of traction and momentum back once you hit stop and scaling it might be your opportunity you know maybe pull you some funds back so we're not just as aggressive in that situation but definitely don't hit stop and I this is a constant conversation
- 4:02[SPEAKER_02]: all of the time and it's scary because when you have it run with it poor fuel on the fire you can right and we'd much rather you have the systems dialed in to where you can literally put more fuel in the fire.
- 4:15[SPEAKER_01]: Well I think we take I think what we take for granted is all of the things that have to happen in order for a prospect to show up and give you money.
- 4:24[SPEAKER_01]: it's it we we have this quote that we live by it's never underestimate the task at hand.
- 4:29[SPEAKER_01]: This is a big deal that we take for granted.
- 4:32[SPEAKER_01]: If you've ever said as a Jim or hey, we just need more some more clients, we just need some more clients.
- 4:37[SPEAKER_01]: Just need some more clients is the problem that you're just disregarding all of the things that have to happen.
- 4:43[SPEAKER_01]: Let's talk about that for a second because I put this on the screen and it was just like 50 things.
- 4:48[SPEAKER_01]: It's a first off you have to come up with your offering, create and create an ad.
- 4:52[SPEAKER_01]: That's that goes without saying, but now you have to deliver your ad to the right person in the right time.
- 4:57[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, take that for granted, but they see your ad.
- 5:00[SPEAKER_01]: They look at their selves and say, yes, this is the right time for me.
- 5:03[SPEAKER_01]: They look at their schedule.
- 5:05[SPEAKER_01]: They look out into the distance and say, hey, I do have some time to start a fitness journey.
- 5:10[SPEAKER_01]: They look at their schedule.
- 5:11[SPEAKER_01]: Look at your calendar.
- 5:12[SPEAKER_01]: They book an appointment.
- 5:13[SPEAKER_01]: They give you their information.
- 5:14[SPEAKER_01]: We take that for granted.
- 5:15[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 5:16[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, just get the lead, right?
- 5:18[SPEAKER_01]: Take that for granted.
- 5:19[SPEAKER_01]: And then the life doesn't get in the way.
- 5:21[SPEAKER_01]: They don't get hit with another rat and change your mind.
- 5:23[SPEAKER_01]: They don't have a family emergency come up.
- 5:25[SPEAKER_01]: All in between the time they opt it in, booked their appointment and it's time for their appointment.
- 5:29[SPEAKER_01]: They drive to your gym.
- 5:31[SPEAKER_01]: All of the things that could have happened in that morning, kids sick, something happens, flat tire, whatever, a car or a car or a mine.
- 5:38[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, as simple as it's changing their mind, all of those things had to not have happened for them to actually get in the car and drive over.
- 5:45[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, there's not construction.
- 5:48[SPEAKER_01]: They decide your gyms in a good location.
- 5:50[SPEAKER_01]: It's going to be convenient for them.
- 5:52[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 5:53[SPEAKER_01]: they park their vehicle, they get out of the car.
- 5:55[SPEAKER_01]: That's another story for another day.
- 5:57[SPEAKER_01]: But we've had clients that just talk themselves out of it in the vehicle and drive off multiple times before they end up coming in.
- 6:04[SPEAKER_01]: We take that for granted.
- 6:05[SPEAKER_01]: So now they're in your gym.
- 6:07[SPEAKER_01]: They walk in, they like what they see, they like what you say.
- 6:11[SPEAKER_01]: They can afford it.
- 6:15[SPEAKER_01]: They like your program.
- 6:16[SPEAKER_01]: They believe that your solution's gonna, your products as solution for them.
- 6:21[SPEAKER_01]: They take action, they say, I'm going to sign up.
- 6:24[SPEAKER_01]: They go to reach for their wallet.
- 6:25[SPEAKER_01]: They have their wallet, they have it on them.
- 6:29[SPEAKER_01]: Yep.
- 6:30[SPEAKER_01]: Another story, I've had a client, it's the funniest story ever.
- 6:34[SPEAKER_01]: He's, he was so convinced that he was ready to start.
- 6:38[SPEAKER_01]: He just had to run to the vehicle and grab his wallet and he'd be right back and I just seemed getting the car and drive off.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_01]: It was the craziest thing that we heard from him again.
- 6:45[SPEAKER_01]: He's still looking for the wallet.
- 6:47[SPEAKER_01]: Then,
- 6:49[SPEAKER_01]: After they sign up, they go home and don't have buyers remorse.
- 6:53[SPEAKER_01]: They still feel like you're the right solution.
- 6:55[SPEAKER_01]: Then they start their program and they actually show up to their workouts.
- 7:01[SPEAKER_01]: All of these things in there's 12 million that I didn't mention have to have happen in order for them to give you money and we're just like, hey, I just need some more clients, just need some more.
- 7:11[SPEAKER_01]: It's just not it would never, you can't underestimate how many things have to be an alignment for that person to actually come in.
- 7:19[SPEAKER_01]: So when you do have a home run campaign, you don't turn it off because it doesn't always happen and sometimes it will never happen again.
- 7:31[SPEAKER_01]: Take that from somebody who knows a lot about marketing and seeing the algorithms change and the CPMs change and the new competitors in the market change.
- 7:42[SPEAKER_01]: When you have it, you've got to harness it and pour more gas out and keep going.
- 7:46[SPEAKER_01]: So winning gyms know that, winning gyms never turn off the growth engine, that's it.
- 7:53[SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely.
- 7:53[SPEAKER_02]: And again, one of the ways that we mitigate that's knowing your numbers and knowing the math of marketing, I think most gyms that I speak with, a lot of gyms, I'm speaking to the lot of you guys, you don't even have a pole in the water for paid.
- 8:08[SPEAKER_02]: lead generation right so if you're not playing in that game that you definitely have to I mean your growth is a hundred percent depending upon the number of To people you can expose that offer and if you're not growing at the rate you want to this is something that you need to be looking at To us it's it's like a non-negotiable I mean at this point if the business is designed to grow or if you want your business grow this is one of the avenues you need to be taking
- 8:31[SPEAKER_02]: So stepping in there can quite often comes with a little bit of reservation and risk and you have to mitigate that by knowing the numbers, knowing the data, right?
- 8:41[SPEAKER_02]: So we teach the math of marketing, making sure that your cost per acquisition exceeds, or excuse me, your revenue generated exceeds your cost per acquisition.
- 8:50[SPEAKER_02]: And in that situation, that is the perfect storm for you to pour more fuel on the fire, right?
- 8:55[SPEAKER_02]: And then make sure those systems downhill are there for you to be able to service those clients.
- 8:59[SPEAKER_01]: So take it from us, folks, when you get your marketing going, keep the momentum, it's easier to steer than start, keep it going, have multiple poles in the water, look at marketing as an investment and multiplication of capital, never underestimate the task at hand.
- 9:14[SPEAKER_01]: Have a lot of things happening all the time, and if you need to kind of peel back, it's fine, you can throttle up or down, but never unplug.
- 9:24[SPEAKER_01]: Hopefully that helps you guys, that's it for this episode, until next time, keep changing lives and the next show.
