- 0:08to constantly live in fear of one crumb being visible.
- 0:12White Kitchen floors. Because why hide the mess when you can display it like an art?
- 0:17Available wherever regretful home renovations are sold.
- 0:21It looks like you went and got a blowjob. A blowout at your salon.
- 0:26The host of QVC Live on air yesterday while showing off one of her wigs.
- 0:32Insert theme song here. This is the Daily Starcast. I give you the news and made me a laugh.
- 0:38I'm Lindsay Vernick and today is August 7th, 2026.
- 0:42Guys, I want to give a big shout out today to one of my best friends from growing
- 0:48up, Casey. It's her one year wedding anniversary. I think this weekend or next weekend.
- 0:54I think it's this weekend. So happy anniversary, Casey and Spence.
- 0:58Love you guys. Miss you guys. And I hope you enjoy eating the top of your cake.
- 1:04You guys probably aren't even doing that. I'm probably the only one who will do that.
- 1:09In real news, I know you were so worried, but Mitch McConnell is back on his feet.
- 1:16He was discharged from a rehab after falling down and getting a concussion and a fractured rib.
- 1:22He's home and he's doing physical therapy, but he does plan to go back to the Senate soon.
- 1:28The guy is literally 84 years old.
- 1:31While this is all great news for Mitch, it's terrible news for anyone hoping
- 1:35Congress might actually get something done while he was gone.
- 1:39Although, after watching Congress for the last few years, I'm not sure if anyone
- 1:43can tell the difference between a senator recovering from a fall and a senator
- 1:49just sitting through a hearing.
- 1:51So remember when we all thought COVID was over and we could all just finally move on with our lives?
- 1:57Just kidding. The government decided, based on the last few years of chaos,
- 2:02that we needed to go back and talk about it some more.
- 2:05Dr. Anthony Fauci has been held in contempt of Congress yesterday after refusing
- 2:09to answer questions during a Senate hearing about the government's COVID response.
- 2:14Fauci repeatedly invoked his Fifth Amendment rights, saying he was concerned
- 2:18about potentially incriminating himself.
- 2:21But Republicans were like, no, you just don't want to cooperate with us.
- 2:26But wherever you stand on Fauci, there's something uniquely American about taking
- 2:30one of the most stressful periods in modern history and turning it into a political reunion tour.
- 2:37Most countries retire their controversies, but we just put them on a comeback tour.
- 2:42We have Taylor Swift eras, we have Marvel faces, and now we have the Fauci face
- 2:46of Congress where every few months someone says, this is the hearing that will
- 2:51finally explain everything. And it doesn't.
- 2:54The pandemic may be over, but the paperwork is not.
- 2:58So welcome back to the Fauci hearings, America's longest running medical drama,
- 3:02now with less science and more subpoenas.
- 3:06In tech news, restaurants, pubs, and theaters in the UK are starting to ban
- 3:10meta smart glasses over privacy concerns.
- 3:14So as you know, these glasses look like normal glasses, right?
- 3:18Except that they have that little camera built in, which means every person
- 3:22wearing them now has the ability to look like they're casually enjoying brunch
- 3:27while also potentially filming everyone else around them.
- 3:30And there's plenty of normal uses for this. I mean, some people just want to
- 3:34record their vacation or you just want hands-free directions or capture your
- 3:39dog doing something really cute.
- 3:41It's a literal way to take a mental photo.
- 3:45I mean, the other day, my cousin had me try on her glasses and you could literally
- 3:49listen to music from the glasses and it sounded like I had headphones on. It was wild.
- 3:55But the problem here is that when someone walks into a restaurant wearing these
- 3:59glasses, nobody thinks, wow, I hope they're recording their sandwich review.
- 4:04Everyone is thinking, am I accidentally going to become TikTok famous for something really stupid?
- 4:11So people are worried that customers and employees can be recording without their consent.
- 4:16And the tiny cameras make it harder for people to know when they're being filmed.
- 4:21So we've reached this really funny point in technology where the future was
- 4:24supposed to look like flying cars and robot assistants.
- 4:28Instead we have sunglasses where the person wearing them has to immediately
- 4:33say don't worry I'm not recording you,
- 4:36in Lindsay life yesterday I called my grandmother who has dementia,
- 4:42it's not that bad yet but it's bad enough where I had a 45 minute phone call
- 4:49with her and you know with people with dementia you have to repeat yourself
- 4:52so I had to go through what I was doing for work twice.
- 4:57And like this was two different times throughout the conversation in the beginning and then later on.
- 5:03And then we cycled through my dating life three different times.
- 5:07So that really drilled in for me that I'm not dating anybody right now.
- 5:12Then she started freaking out about her white kitchen floors and how horrible
- 5:16they are because she can't spill anything on them. And it's just so dirty all the time.
- 5:21And she has to keep it so clean, which was why I had my fake sponsor today as white kitchen floors,
- 5:29so after she goes on and on to me for like I don't know 10-15 minutes about
- 5:36something from her past I don't I honestly I don't even remember.
- 5:41Maybe I have dementia so we hang up and then she calls me back right away and
- 5:46I was like oh shit what's wrong she tells me she doesn't know how to hang up
- 5:49and I'm like well we did just hang up the phone. We literally weren't talking.
- 5:54And then she goes, and this is why I need a new phone and hangs up. Great girl. Great girl.
- 6:01MVP of the week this week goes to the guy who lived in a billboard.
- 6:06Yeah, so this guy proved that in 2026, the fastest way to get noticed is not
- 6:12by going viral or starting a podcast or making a TikTok.
- 6:16It's by moving into a billboard.
- 6:19So to promote Netflix's new movie, The Last House, Netflix put a guy inside
- 6:24a billboard 30 feet above Sunset Boulevard.
- 6:27And he wasn't just standing there holding a sign like those car wash guys.
- 6:31They turned the billboard into a little tiny apartment, like with a couch,
- 6:35books, games, and enough amenities to make everyone wonder, does this guy have
- 6:40better housing than half of LA?
- 6:42For three days, this man lived inside an advertisement while people walking
- 6:48by could interact with him.
- 6:49People stuck in traffic could have conversations with him.
- 6:53We have to give this guy credit. Most people spend years trying to become memorable.
- 6:58Who's going to forget about the guy in the billboard?
- 7:00He didn't just promote the movie, he became the movie. So congrats to our MVP,
- 7:05the guy in the billboard.
- 7:07May your rent be cheap, your view be incredible, and may you never have to explain
- 7:11to your future children why dad was so desperate for money he had to live in
- 7:15a billboard for three days.
- 7:16Cooking tip of the day. Don't walk too far away from the kitchen while you're cooking.
- 7:21Feedback, comments, questions, a nice Jewish boy looking for a date,
- 7:24email me at lindsay at thedailystarcast.com.
- 7:27Have a great weekend. Do not forget to sign up for their residency if you haven't already.
- 7:33And I will talk to you guys on Monday for the last week of the pod for me for a bit.
