- 0:07Why do avoidance come back after they've distanced themselves or
- 0:11broken up with you? Well, most people think it's
- 0:14because they miss you or because they suddenly realize your
- 0:18value. And while that can be partly
- 0:20true, the real reason is actually much deeper.
- 0:24And once you understand it, you'll see why no contact plus
- 0:28one other thing is the most powerful strategy you can use
- 0:33with an avoidant. So stay tuned and you'll find
- 0:36out what that is. Hi, this is Lucia with the art

- 1:17OK, so let's start with what most people believe, which is
- 1:20that avoidance come back because they miss the familiarity.
- 1:25They realized they had more freedom with you than they
- 1:27thought, or they finally grew up and figured out what they lost.
- 1:33Ensure those things can play a role.
- 1:35But if that's all it was, then you'd see a lot more excess
- 1:39coming back a lot sooner. And if you know anything about
- 1:42avoidance, it's that they don't operate the way that most people
- 1:45think. An avoidant, whether they're
- 1:49dismissive or fearful, values space and independence above
- 1:54almost everything else. When they feel you getting too
- 1:58close, too dependent, or too anxious, their instinct is to
- 2:02pull away. It's not necessarily about you,
- 2:05it's just how their nervous system is wired.
- 2:07So if you chase them after a breakup or constantly reach out,
- 2:11what do you think happens? They retreat further.
- 2:14They need distance to feel safe again.
- 2:18I want you to imagine that your relationship with your avoidant
- 2:21X is like a Galaxy. So you're one planet and there
- 2:28another planet, and between you is this gravitational push and
- 2:33pull. When you're chasing, they're
- 2:36pulling away. But once you stop chasing, once
- 2:40you go no contact, you create what's been called a black hole.
- 2:46And if you're into quantum physics the way I am, then you
- 2:51probably already know that a black hole is an empty space
- 2:54that pulls everything into it. So in the same way, when you
- 2:59step back and stop trying to get their attention, you create a
- 3:03powerful emotional vacuum. And at first the avoidant feels
- 3:08relief. They think, finally, I have
- 3:11space. No one's pressure me.
- 3:13I can breathe. But over time, that relief turns
- 3:18into something else. Emptiness.
- 3:20Your absence. Because there's no more texts,
- 3:24calls, or connection, it becomes noticeable.
- 3:28The void you left behind pulls at them.
- 3:32Avoidance don't miss you when you're still around, begging for
- 3:36attention. They miss you when you're gone
- 3:39because when you're chasing, they can't appreciate you.
- 3:42You're right there and it's too much.
- 3:45But when you disappear, they start to realize what they no
- 3:49longer have. It's the old don't know what you
- 3:52got till it's gone. And no contact creates space
- 3:56where the avoidant no longer feels trapped or overwhelmed.
- 4:02And this distance can trigger longing, not just because you're
- 4:05absent, but because that absence triggers feelings they had when
- 4:10they were with you. They miss the laughter, the
- 4:12intimacy, the security, even if they ran from it at the time.
- 4:16So it's not about logic. It's about the emotional vacuum
- 4:20that no contact creates. So how does this usually play
- 4:25out? Well, right after the breakup,
- 4:28they feel free. They may even convince
- 4:30themselves that it was the right choice.
- 4:33With you gone, they settle into their independence and this is
- 4:38where most people panic and think they're never coming back.
- 4:41Oh no. However, weeks or months later,
- 4:46the black hole effect sets in and they start remembering the
- 4:51good times. They wonder what you're doing
- 4:53and suddenly the silence doesn't feel so good anymore.
- 4:57And this is when they test the waters with a small text, a
- 5:01social media like or some other little excuse to reach out.
- 5:07And if the vacuum is strong enough, if you haven't been
- 5:10chasing, they start moving back into your orbit.
- 5:15Now a quick warning, this only works if you stay secure during
- 5:21no contact, which I know if you're anxious it's going to be
- 5:24very hard to stay secure because if you panic and break it too
- 5:30soon, you're going to collapse that black hole.
- 5:34If you keep checking their social media obsessively and
- 5:37they know it, or send little just checking in messages, then
- 5:42you're feeding their avoidant tendencies instead of triggering
- 5:46the vacuum. This vacuum causes them to
- 5:49eventually become introspective, which in turn leads to longing.
- 5:55That's why it's so important to trigger that vacuum.
- 5:59The power of no contact lies in your ability to hold your
- 6:04ground, to show without words that you can live, grow, and
- 6:09thrive without them. That's what flips the script in
- 6:13their mind. So what makes avoidance come
- 6:17back after no contact? I mentioned there are two
- 6:19things. It's not just familiarity.
- 6:21It's not just missing your company.
- 6:23So one is the psychological pull of absence, the black hole
- 6:28effect that happens when you stop chasing and you give them
- 6:32space. Once their relationship pressure
- 6:35is gone, once their deactivation systems aren't being triggered,
- 6:39they can begin to reflect and maybe even idealize the
- 6:42connection. And that's when their
- 6:45perspective starts to shift. This triggers them to reach out
- 6:49because they want to fill that emptiness, and that can only
- 6:53happen if you're no longer around.
- 6:57And secondly, when enough time has passed and they realize that
- 7:01you're not so easily replaced, even though they thought you
- 7:05would be, And that's when things really start to turn around.
- 7:09Your silence becomes louder than anything you could say.
- 7:13If you're anxious, you're always thinking, I just need to talk to
- 7:16them. I need to communicate.
- 7:17No, once you're no longer available, you become more
- 7:21desirable. So for those of you worried that
- 7:24you're actually going to forget about you, it's actually the
- 7:27opposite. That's just your anxiety
- 7:29talking, so tell it to shut up. Your mind can either be your
- 7:34biggest hater or your biggest motivator, and the role it plays
- 7:39is up to you. And I want to mention that if
- 7:43you've heard me talk about the 60 day rule, you'll be expecting
- 7:48to hear from your ex between days 45 and 60.
- 7:51However, if your ex is an avoidant, especially a
- 7:54dismissive avoidant, it will take longer.
- 7:58So don't freak out. If 60 days have gone by Ave. and
- 8:02you haven't heard from your ex, doesn't mean that you'll never
- 8:06hear from them. And I'll put the link to that
- 8:08video in the upper right hand corner on YouTube.
- 8:11So remember, the best move you can make with an avoidant is to
- 8:15step back and let the black hole do its thing.
- 8:20Now I want to hear from you. How long have you been in no
- 8:22contact and how is it going? And if you would like my help to
- 8:26get your ex back, you can contact me at
- 8:29theartoflove.net/coaching and we will send you the rates.
