- 0:00Have you ever set a goal and felt really motivated for about three days and then
- 0:06somewhere along the way the motivation disappeared? I think one reason that
- 0:12happens is because goals alone often aren't enough to keep us going. Yes, goals
- 0:19tell us what we want but vision reminds us why we want it and when we can
- 0:25clearly picture the life we are trying to build, I believe it becomes much
- 0:31easier to stay committed to the habits that get us there. If you're tired of
- 0:38people-pleasing, caring too much, and wondering why peace still feels so hard
- 0:43to hold on to, you're in the right place. Hi, I'm Lori, mom, former people-pleaser
- 0:49and Your Boundaries coach. Here we talk about how to protect your peace, set
- 0:54healthier boundaries, and get clear on what actually matters so that you can
- 0:59build a life that feels lighter, calmer, and more satisfying. So let's stop the
- 1:04chaos for a minute moms, catch our breath, and get in to this next episode.
- 1:12Welcome back to Healthy Boundaries for Moms. This is your midweek reset. So on
- 1:18Monday's episode, we talked about prioritizing and making these deposits
- 1:23into the life we are trying to build. Today, I want to go one step deeper
- 1:30because before we make these deposits, we need a reason to make them and before we
- 1:36prioritize our lives, we need a vision for the life we're trying to create
- 1:40because goals do give us the direction and the map of where we're going, right?
- 1:46But vision gives us the energy that helps us to stay on that path and go in
- 1:52that direction. So one of the clearest examples for me was my own health
- 1:57journey. I wasn't really motivated by protein grams or supplements. I was
- 2:03motivated by imagining what my life would feel like. I imagined feeling
- 2:10stronger and I imagined feeling lighter. I imagined being a woman in her
- 2:16mid-40s who could do push-ups and pull-ups and I am happy to report I can
- 2:21do three pull-ups. I imagined feeling comfortable in my clothes and I
- 2:27imagined having more energy and showing up differently with my husband, my kids,
- 2:34and my friends. And what I eventually realized was I wasn't just pursuing
- 2:39weight loss. I was pursuing a vision. The weight loss was simply one step toward
- 2:46creating that vision and I think this is one reason vision boards can be so
- 2:53powerful. So years ago when I was helping decorate rooms, one of the most powerful
- 2:58tools wasn't a paint sample. It was something called a mood board because
- 3:05when people could see everything that I was putting together, something in their
- 3:09mind clicked. They could picture what the room was going to feel like. They
- 3:14could imagine the atmosphere and the experience and what kind of lifestyle
- 3:18they would have. And once they could see it, they became excited about this vision
- 3:23and they wanted to create it. And I think our lives work the same way. Sometimes
- 3:28we're trying to motivate ourselves with like a list of goals. Okay we got to lose
- 3:32weight and we got to save money and we got to get organized and we're gonna
- 3:36spend more time with God. But our goals don't always create the emotion that
- 3:41needs to help it along. But vision does. When you can picture a peaceful home or
- 3:48the healthy version of yourself, how about the stronger marriage or how it
- 3:54would feel to have financial margin? How about confidence and freedom? Something
- 4:00in us changes. Now you're not just chasing a goal, you're creating a future.
- 4:06So this is exactly what happened when I was starting to plan our summer. I didn't
- 4:12start with activities. I started with the vision that I had for the summer. I asked
- 4:17something like, how do I want this summer to feel? And I immediately knew that I
- 4:23wanted growth. I wanted learning for my two kids. I wanted connection and I
- 4:29wanted time outdoors. I definitely wanted us to walk away with some
- 4:35meaningful experiences. And once I had the vision, the decisions became so much
- 4:40easier because the vision became my filter. The vision told me what deserved
- 4:47a yes and what I was gonna say no to. And that's what vision does. It simplifies
- 4:53your decision-making because you're no longer making choices randomly. You're
- 4:58making choices that align with the future you're trying to create. So one of
- 5:03my favorite verses for this topic is Proverbs 29 18. Where there is no vision,
- 5:08the people perish. So without vision guys, we drift. Without vision, we're just
- 5:15reacting. And without our vision, we spend our days responding to whatever is
- 5:22feeling urgent and is coming at us. But when we have vision, we have direction
- 5:27and we have a purpose. We have something helping to pull us forward. So this is my
- 5:35challenge for your midweek reset. Take one goal you currently have, just one, and
- 5:40ask yourself, what is the vision behind this goal? What would life feel like if
- 5:46this goal were to become a reality in your life? How would you show up
- 5:50differently? What opportunities would open up for you? Because goals tell us
- 5:56what to do and vision reminds us why it matters. And when you can clearly picture
- 6:02the life you're trying to build, it becomes so much easier to stay
- 6:07committed to the small daily deposits that get you there. I want you also to be
- 6:12looking for the inspiration around you. Whether it's going through a magazine or
- 6:19whether it's going online, going on apps like Pinterest. There's so many ways for
- 6:25you to gain inspiration for the life that you are looking for. I want you to
- 6:30be building that vision piece by piece and getting excited about the life that
- 6:35you are getting ready to live. Hey friends, I hope you enjoyed today's
