- 0:16These recordings took place live from Adam's clinic in London's
- 0:19world famous Harley Street. This podcast features powerful
- 0:23hypnosis, so do not listen while driving or operating machinery.
- 0:27This recording is not suitable for those with epilepsy or
- 0:30severe mental health issues, so get yourself comfortable and
- 0:34enjoy today's episode of The Hypnotist.
- 0:41Hi, it's Adam here. And in this episode of The
- 0:44Hypnotist, you're going to be listening to a weight loss and
- 0:48food based hypnosis session. In the sense that the client
- 0:52that I was working with felt that from childhood they had an
- 0:56addiction to processed foods. And in particular, it was things
- 1:02like chocolate, but not the kind of dark chocolate with lots of
- 1:08micronutrients and compounds in, but the kind of chocolate filled
- 1:11with vegetable. Oil and sugar.
- 1:14But also processed foods, chips or fries, those, those kind of
- 1:20things that were low in nutrition but high in energy.
- 1:24And they felt that that started for them in childhood because
- 1:28they had a lot of anger directed at what was happening in their
- 1:33family environment. And it really felt for them that
- 1:36food gave them two key things. One was a sense of comfort made
- 1:41them feel better, and secondly that they were choosing what
- 1:46they were doing. So they felt powerless in the
- 1:49home but more empowered to make choices in their choices as to
- 1:55what to eat. The problem with that is that a
- 1:58lot of this food is quite addictive in nature.
- 2:00Lots of things like salt and sugar and refined carbohydrates
- 2:05like flour are quite addictive and therefore it can feel
- 2:09difficult to just stop doing that because you get cravings
- 2:12and compulsions and those kind of things.
- 2:14So the main thing from this session is an element of
- 2:18regression to 'cause this clearly started in their
- 2:21childhood. So we work with that giving a
- 2:24new meaning and that. Meaning is that.
- 2:26Food is not the only way to feel empowered and to make you feel
- 2:30better, and in fact, it's an option.
- 2:33But it's even not a very good option and that there are much.
- 2:37Better options available like learning or.
- 2:40Movement or exercise or nature, or even healthy foods like
- 2:45fruits and vegetables, particularly fruits.
- 2:48Low glycemic fruits like berries are actually very tasty, full of
- 2:53micronutrients. They're super foods, but because
- 2:57they've got so much fibre and water, you can't really gain too
- 3:02much weight by those things. You just go to the toilet more
- 3:05because of all the fiber, because they're so low glycemic.
- 3:09So there's suggestions like that going on and then an element of
- 3:11future pacing where they get to see their.
- 3:13Future version of them. Being free and and the key
- 3:17suggestion I really like in this session is that they are five
- 3:20days away. Of breaking free from this.
- 3:24Compulsion to processed foods. And there's a bit of science
- 3:27behind this in the sense that if you have a lot of refined
- 3:33carbohydrates and processed foods for the first five days,
- 3:37that you just stop, that you can feel.
- 3:40Fatigue. You can.
- 3:41Feel low energy. You can feel cranky and Moody,
- 3:46but it doesn't last very long because the body has the
- 3:48ability. To adapt.
- 3:49Pretty quick, so for some people it might be.
- 3:52Six days. For some people it might be 4
- 3:54days or three days, depending on their metabolism and their their
- 3:57body. But this idea that you're about
- 3:595 days away from being free of this compulsion for processed
- 4:03foods, I think it's such a powerful thing because then any
- 4:06crankiness or low energy is not seen as a problem, but seen as
- 4:10evidence that the change is taking place.
- 4:13So. It's quite a.
- 4:14Powerful Reframe. Obviously this session was
- 4:17created for an individual. If you like the kind of stuff
- 4:21that I do, click the description because there's loads of free
- 4:23stuff that I have that I'm currently offering that you can
- 4:25just click the link and get those free stuff.
- 4:27But if you like the idea of working with me directly, there
- 4:32will be a link. In the description.
- 4:34Where you can schedule a free consultation call to explore
- 4:37working with me over Zoom. We can have a chat, see if the
- 4:40right I'm the right hypno therapist for you, and if so, we
- 4:43can explore what that would be like.
- 4:46For now, though, find a quiet, comfortable place where you're
- 4:50not going to be disturbed to relax.
- 4:52And enjoy the session. Take a deep breath in, and as
- 6:08you breathe in, breathe in that resourceful feeling of
- 6:13relaxation. And as you exhale, just release
- 6:19all tension around your eyelids. That's it.
- 6:23And with your eyes closed, notice how much easier it is to
- 6:29focus on the sound of my voice. As you breathe in, relaxation
- 6:37and allow yourself to exhale any feelings of tension, stress or
- 6:44worry. And allow yourself to make the
- 6:49breath slightly deeper as you breathe in.
- 6:55And as you exhale, just allow yourself to carry on the breath
- 7:00for longer than you normally would, breathing in for deeper
- 7:06and exhaling for longer. And I want you to imagine you're
- 7:11breathing in a healing white light, a bright white light.
- 7:18Imagine breathing in that healing white light.
- 7:23But as you exhale, just imagine dark shadows leaving your body,
- 7:28representing any kind of pain, sickness, anger, or stress.
- 7:36Just enable yourself to see those shadows leaving your body
- 7:40as you breathe out, as it feels that just by breathing in and
- 7:47breathing out, it feels like you're cleansing your emotions
- 7:54because sometimes an illness is just a reflection of old
- 8:03emotions that you're still holding on to.
- 8:08Give yourself permission to let go of those emotions, breathing
- 8:13in that healing white light of resourcefulness and exhaling
- 8:18those heavy emotions that you've been holding on to.
- 8:22And some of those emotions maybe from years and years ago.
- 8:29Some people can hold on to anger, a gradual resentment, for
- 8:33decades. And a wise man once said holding
- 8:40on to anger or resentment is like drinking poison and hoping
- 8:47that the other person gets sick. So as you feel that now is the
- 8:53time to let go of those emotions, I want you to allow
- 8:59your imagination to take you back to where certain emotions
- 9:04and certain patterns were formed.
- 9:11The deeper you breathe, the more relaxed you become.
- 9:13And the more relaxed you become, the deeper you breathe.
- 9:17And as your body relaxes, your imagination awakens.
- 9:21And I'd like you to imagine an old bedroom, a bedroom where you
- 9:29used to sleep and feel safe. And maybe you can recall the
- 9:39colour of the wallpaper or the carpet or the curtains, certain
- 9:45posters or pictures, certain things that you had back then,
- 9:50and go back to the age where it feels like it all started.
- 9:56Feelings of anger or frustration, powerlessness.
- 10:03But I want you to go back as an adult, not back into your
- 10:07child's body. Go back at your current age and
- 10:11find yourself there in that old bedroom.
- 10:16And when you're there, just let me know by nodding your head.
- 10:21That's it. And at the moment, the bedroom
- 10:24is empty. And all I want you to do is
- 10:27imagine lying on that bed that you used to fall asleep in.
- 10:33And maybe your body's too big for that bed, but just imagine
- 10:38curling up your body so that you fit.
- 10:40I'm going to countdown from 5 to 1 and I want you to imagine what
- 10:46it would feel like to fall asleep in that childhood bed.
- 10:54Five. Feeling deeper and deeper
- 10:56relaxed. 4 Arms and legs feel limp, loose and heavy. 3 Even
- 11:04your internal organs start to relax, particularly your gut,
- 11:08your heart, your lungs. Breathing in effortlessly and
- 11:14exhaling more of that tension or stress.
- 11:18That's it. One just feel how good it would
- 11:22feel for your whole body to drift off into a dreamlike sleep
- 11:26there in that bed and imagine you're waking up in the.
- 11:31Same room only. This time you see that younger
- 11:35version of you there in the same room.
- 11:40They're now confused because there's two of you in the room
- 11:45and they don't know who you are. A version of you fast asleep in
- 11:49a bed and a version of you standing up.
- 11:54But reassure them. In fact, convince that younger
- 11:57version of you that you are them from the future, and the only
- 12:04way you can possibly do that is to share with them a secret that
- 12:09only they know. Tell them something, something
- 12:16they did that nobody else knew about.
- 12:20And when you've convinced them that you want them from the
- 12:22future, let me know by nodding your head.
- 12:28That's it. And I want you to tell them that
- 12:32you are there to help them. You are there because you know
- 12:38they get angry every now and then.
- 12:42And I want you to tell them that something that will appeal to
- 12:47them either now or in the future, when they get angry,
- 12:49when they feel frustrated, or when they feel low is food.
- 12:58But I want you to warn them. Warn them that some of this food
- 13:02is addictive. Some of this food feels like a
- 13:05friend, but it's actually an enemy.
- 13:08It feels like it's helping, but actually it's damaging your
- 13:11health. And I want you to explain this
- 13:15in words that a child would understand.
- 13:19So it really does make sense for them.
- 13:21And when they start to understand, then food as a tool
- 13:30to make them feel better works. But it comes at a cost when they
- 13:36understand that principle. Let me know by nodding your
- 13:40head. That's it, and I want you to
- 13:48tell them or inspire them with other things that they can do to
- 13:56release anger. Some people have a journal.
- 14:01They get those thoughts out of their head and they feel better.
- 14:05And some people do something active, or they play, and some
- 14:12people connect with friends and conversations and some people do
- 14:18other things but tell them that if they are going to use food as
- 14:25a way to make them feel better, superfoods are the way they can
- 14:31truly do that. Explain what a superfood is, so
- 14:36this child understands foods that have high nutritional
- 14:42density, the kind of foods that are bursting with colours and
- 14:49flavour, the kind of foods that are natural, powered by sunshine
- 14:53and rainwater. And give them some examples like
- 14:57berries and avocados, salads, other fruits.
- 15:04And what this child understands that they can eat food and it
- 15:12will make them feel better and it will enhance their health and
- 15:19confidence and vitality, not erode it and suppress it.
- 15:25When they truly understand that, let me know by nodding your head
- 15:32and you probably remember what you were going through at that
- 15:34age. And just for a moment, I want
- 15:37you to listen. Listen to what this younger
- 15:40version of you is going through and really listen.
- 15:49Hear their concerns, their frustrations, why they feel
- 15:53anger. And I want you to give them two
- 16:00things that may help. One, some wisdom that you
- 16:05learned only after. And secondly, a resource that
- 16:09you really wish you had back then.
- 16:13Maybe that resource is patience or perspective, confidence or
- 16:21something else. And when you've given this child
- 16:25the wisdom and the resource, like a glowing energy that they
- 16:29hold to their chest, just let me know by nodding your head.
- 16:54They are taking hold of your wisdom, absorbing your resource,
- 16:59and they feel more empowered, more able to cope.
- 17:03I don't want you to feel that you've planted a seed that is
- 17:09reconciled, not just anger from your childhood, but a coping
- 17:16strategy. So just hug that child, say
- 17:18goodbye, and then float to seeing yourself, perhaps as a.
- 17:24Young teenager I. Want you to get a sense that you
- 17:35are seeing yourself buying some processed food, maybe chocolate,
- 17:42maybe hot chips. But I want you to see that that
- 17:48younger version of you, that younger version of you now feels
- 17:58inspired. So instead of having those
- 18:02snacks at a mini recess to do something different.
- 18:10And maybe that's play, maybe that's talk, maybe that's read
- 18:19or learn. But I want you to see how things
- 18:23have changed. Maybe you see yourself choosing
- 18:30berries or fruits. There's a way to cheer yourself
- 18:33up rather than those processed foods.
- 18:35I don't want you to get a sense then that chain that has been
- 18:45tethered to certain foods to make you feel good.
- 18:49I want you to feel that you are five days away from breaking
- 18:54free of this pattern that has haunted you for many, many
- 18:59years, affected your confidence, affected your health, affected
- 19:06your ability to live life on your terms.
- 19:10I want you to feel that every time you do something even
- 19:15slightly different to what you have been doing in the past, you
- 19:21are rewiring your brain to create new habits and new
- 19:26compulsions. And whenever you think about
- 19:31certain processed foods, just imagine it filled with bacteria,
- 19:38germs, other people's saliva or phlegm, and notice that just
- 19:44thinking that way makes the food less desirable.
- 19:50But more importantly, I want you to tap into a wonderful feeling
- 19:54of defiance. I want you to feel that every
- 19:59time you choose an alternative to processed foods, you are
- 20:09becoming victorious. There was a time when it was
- 20:14difficult for you to win. That time in your childhood, you
- 20:19had less power, couldn't make the decisions.
- 20:24But you're not that child anymore.
- 20:28Every time you choose not to have processed foods and
- 20:31something else, like walking in nature, movement, healthy foods,
- 20:39you are defeating the anger of your past.
- 20:47You're taking back control of your life.
- 20:51You are moving forward to a future where you are happy and
- 20:56healthy and you are free of those compulsions and any
- 21:01cravings, any crankiness, any natural withdrawals when you
- 21:09reduce those processed foods, they're not problems.
- 21:13They are evidence that you are closer to breaking free, closer
- 21:20and closer. And I want you to imagine
- 21:23observing yourself over A5 day period, making different
- 21:31choices, having dark chocolate, that if you feel a craving for
- 21:36chocolate, you have really dark chocolate, maybe 85 or 90% cocoa
- 21:41solids. If there is a craving for
- 21:46something like chips or a processed food or a snack, I
- 21:53want you to see that version of you having a healthy alternative
- 21:56instead, or just sitting with the craving and letting it pass.
- 22:02And I want you to see that there is a new level of resolve in
- 22:05you, a defiance in you, a stubbornness in you.
- 22:11You will do whatever it takes to turn a compulsion and what you
- 22:16thought was an addiction into simply an option and not even a
- 22:24very good option. And just imagine that you have
- 22:29broken free. See how you increase your
- 22:34mobility. Eat more normal meals that are
- 22:39healthy, full of Whole Foods. See how your body adapts,
- 22:46increased energy levels, more feelings of motivation to try
- 22:54new things. And I want you to imagine what
- 22:57it would be like a year from now, A year of being broken free
- 23:04from those compulsions, those impulses, those cravings.
- 23:12Imagine looking at yourself in the mirror, seeing that your
- 23:14body has changed. See yourself smiling and happy.
- 23:19See yourself with more mobility, more health, more vitality.
- 23:27And if this feels like a desirable future and that you're
- 23:32just five days away for being on the path towards this future,
- 23:38just let me know by nodding your head.
- 23:44That's it. And step into that version of
- 23:46you. Feel that that is now your
- 23:50identity in advance, that those old identities of being angry,
- 23:57being the one that could eat the most, that wasn't you.
- 24:01That was a coping strategy. And you don't need that coping
- 24:05strategy anymore. As soon as you let that go, like
- 24:09an old piece of furniture that you never use anymore, feel that
- 24:13you can really embrace the new version of you.
- 24:16The version of you that feels empowered and defiant, that
- 24:21feels like you've truly broken free from the anger, the
- 24:27frustration, and the coping strategies of your past.
- 24:34Then float back to that childhood bedroom, say goodbye
- 24:42to that younger version of you, give them a hug, tell them
- 24:44they're loved, Tell them they're important, Tell them it's their
- 24:48choices, not their compulsions that matter.
- 24:52And then step into that version of you sleeping in the bed, just
- 24:55like Goldilocks. But as you awaken, awaken and
- 25:00float all the way back to your physical body.
- 25:02Now with all of these changes, new ideas, new ways of thinking,
- 25:09new ways of framing, what is a compulsion, what is an
- 25:11addiction, you are five days away from freedom.
- 25:17And with that in mind, take a deep breath in through your nose
- 25:21and out through your nose. Just wiggle your fingers and
- 25:25wiggle. Your toes connect and calibrate.
- 25:27Into the here and the now as I now count from 1:00 to 10:00 to
- 25:32awaken you. Starting to count 123 waking up
- 25:38456 more alert 7-8. Open your eyes.
- 25:41Open your eyes, 910. Wide awake, wide awake, wide
- 25:47awake. None.
- 30:50None. The.
- 33:20Yeah. Yeah.
- 34:20Yeah. Yeah.
