Transcript
- 0:21Hello everyone and welcome back to this week's episode of Mocktail Minutes.
- 0:26This is Brianna coming to you solo today.
- 0:29Um, it is the end of the year.
- 0:31It is Christmas this week.
- 0:33Uh, actually when you guys are listening to this, if you're listening to it on the day that it comes out, it will be on Christmas.
- 0:39So Merry Christmas, and next week we have New Year's, so Bailey and I are splitting up the two holiday weeks.
- 0:45And bringing you a short and sweet little fun two part episode on what we hope we are leaving behind in 2025 dietician edition.
- 0:56So today I am just sipping on some coffee with some further food collagen.
- 1:01I am just finishing up the hazelnut one, which might be my second favorite.
- 1:05I think my first is still always gonna be the chocolate, but.
- 1:09I do really enjoy the hazelnut as well.
- 1:11Um, especially if you mix it like with some oat milk, but that's what I'm sipping on today.
- 1:15So let's just jump into it.
- 1:18So three things that I am hoping that we leave in 2025.
- 1:23This first one, it has I guess a couple.
- 1:27Parts or specifics to it.
- 1:30So number one is I hope, I truly hope that we are leaving the being as thin as possible in 2025.
- 1:39And this is like.
- 1:42Encompassing the whole not doing strength training because it's making you bulky and inappropriately using GLP ones or overusing GLP ones.
- 1:52So I am, I'm 35, so I definitely, you know, grew up in the heroin chic era with, you know, Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera and telling everyone that Jessica Simpson was quote unquote fat in her little leopard outfit.
- 2:10That she, whatever, everybody knows the notorious like leopard outfit she was in that everyone was calling her fat and you look back and you're like, was she fat?
- 2:18So I thought we were kind of over that, especially because, you know, we have the whole like bigger booties, Kim Kardashian, you know, Lizzo, all those things.
- 2:27And now I'm seeing, especially towards the end of this year, the ultra thin is back in and we have skinny talk and all that.
- 2:36And I'm not against.
- 2:38You know, trying to have a smaller body or trying to lose weight, um, or intentionally change your body.
- 2:44I'm all for it.
- 2:45I'm a dietician.
- 2:46I help people do that all the time, but I'm very much in the boat of we need to be doing it in a healthy way.
- 2:53And the.
- 2:53Overly ultra thin bodies is just not it.
- 2:57So I've seen a couple of videos going around telling women like, if you want the thinner legs, you have to stop squatting.
- 3:04You have to stop doing lunges.
- 3:06You have to stop doing X, Y, Z because it's making you look bolt bulky and muscly.
- 3:11And if you want thin, don't do it.
- 3:14That is wild to me.
- 3:16I feel like we have only been encouraging women to really strength, strength train now for maybe the last decade, and I really, really, really hope that we are not stopping now.
- 3:25So I hope we are striving for.
- 3:31Ultra thin bodies a little less hopefully in 2026.
- 3:35That, and using GLP ones correctly, so they're kind of like all together.
- 3:39Um, again, I'm a dietician.
- 3:41I help people use GLP ones every day in a helpful way.
- 3:45There's definitely a wrong way of doing it.
- 3:48And so if you're just using it to see how much you, you can shrink your body.
- 3:53I'm not loving it.
- 3:55Um, number two is leaving behind the trend of having a, or taking a ton of supplements.
- 4:03Every single day.
- 4:04I am all for a targeted supplement.
- 4:07I'm all for pulsing SU supplements, using some here and there at strategic times.
- 4:12I definitely think there's a few supplements that the majority of people can really benefit from, especially because I know we're just naturally not getting a lot of those things in our diet.
- 4:21But if your supplement regimen is like 5, 6, 7, 10, 15 plus a day.
- 4:31We gotta, we gotta stop that.
- 4:33We need to see how can we incorporate more foods, especially if you are skipping foods and relying on those supplements to fill the void of the actual food, if that makes sense.
- 4:46So we are not spending 200, 300, 400 bucks a month on supplements in 2026.
- 4:53We are getting strategic with it.
- 4:55We are using appropriate ones.
- 4:57Um.
- 4:59Yeah, I, this is something, I mean, this has always been a thing, but I feel like the last couple weeks I've onboarded, I've onboarded a few new clients and their supplement list was like 15 plus supplements long, and I was just like, do we know what we're doing here?
- 5:17Is this appropriate?
- 5:18Also, how much are you spending a month?
- 5:21You know, groceries are expensive, supplements are expensive.
- 5:24We don't need to be spending necessary amounts of money.
- 5:28Okay.
- 5:28And then last but not least, is having or relying on AI or chat GPT to build you a personalized nutrition plan versus working with a professional.
- 5:42And so.
- 5:43I'm not against chat g Chat GPTI think it's actually really helpful.
- 5:48Um, you know, especially if you're like, Hey, I'm trying to hit 130 grams of protein a day.
- 5:53Like, help me do that.
- 5:55Or I'm looking for high protein snacks, or I'm looking to increase my fiber.
- 5:59What are foods high in?
- 6:00Fiber?
- 6:01What are snacks high in fiber?
- 6:02Um, or I have these ingredients on hand.
- 6:05What meals can I make with this, or this is my budget for the week.
- 6:09Help me put together a grocery plan.
- 6:11Like all of those things are fantastic.
- 6:12I think it's so helpful.
- 6:14I love it.
- 6:16But if you are trying to come up with a targeted macro plan or calorie plan, or a plan that is helping you figure out what's appropriate for you.
- 6:31You don't wanna just rely on AI because you are so much more complex than that, and at the end of the day, AI is only as smart as you tell it to be.
- 6:39If you're not giving it enough information, it's probably not gonna pull together a correct thing for you.
- 6:44Not only that, but it is relying on.
- 6:49The internet, right?
- 6:50And the internet is the Wild West.
- 6:52There's a whole bunch of incorrect stuff on the internet that AI can also be pulling from to make you something.
- 6:57So you definitely need to use some judgment.
- 7:00I had a patient the other day, well, this wasn't the other day, I was chatting with her the other day, but we started working with each other a couple of months ago, and she had gotten.
- 7:13You know, diagnosed with diabetes and she was re really freaked out by it and her doctor was just like, Hey, you know, you need to eat low carb, basically.
- 7:21And he sent her on her way.
- 7:22And so she put into chat, GPT, this is my A1C, I need to drastically lower my, my blood sugar.
- 7:31Write me a plan and chat.
- 7:33GPT had her on a plan that was less than 20 grams of carbs a day, and she got.
- 7:38Really sick, really tired.
- 7:40Her blood sugar did not get better.
- 7:42She had even more fear around food.
- 7:45And then not only that, but she really screwed up her thyroid even more than it was already messed up.
- 7:51'cause she also had, you know, hypothyroidism.
- 7:53So she thought she was doing the right thing with the tools that she had and ended up actually hurting her blood sugar and her thyroid and her relationship with food so much more.
- 8:05Um, and so.
- 8:07I kind of helped her, you know, work through like, you know, if you're gonna use cha GBT, this is how you should use it.
- 8:12But like a lot of the education and figuring out how much carbs you need and carb breakdown per meal and all that, and needs to be done with me or somebody else who knows what they're doing.
- 8:23Um, so just using AI strategically, I really wanna leave behind the blind trust of AI in 2025 and making sure that when you're using it.
- 8:36You're using it appropriately.
- 8:37So again, like all the things I just mentioned, I like, and this is what we do as humans.
- 8:43We talk about it all the time.
- 8:44We just take things to extreme right, like, I'm totally fine with wanting to lose weight, you know, using GLP ones as a tool.
- 8:52Um, having strategic supplementation, using AI to make your life easier.
- 8:56Love it all.
- 8:57But how we have used it in 2025, I hope that we leave it there and we change it up in 2026.
- 9:05So those are my three things that I'm hoping to leave behind in 2025.
- 9:10Uh, next week Bailey will be on talking to you guys about her three things that she's hoping to leave behind in 2025.
