- 1:38Speaker 1: Talk to you soon. Tolerators to all the men I've
- 2:02Speaker 1: tolerated before. With Namley Patona, your weekly look at everyday misogyny.
- 2:07Speaker 1: Today we're doing a tiny bit of a flashback, but
- 2:10Speaker 1: also a look at something new, because around this time
- 2:14Speaker 1: last year, we sat down with the wonderful, beautiful, amazingly
- 2:18Speaker 1: talented Julia Washington to talk about all of the ways
- 2:23Speaker 1: that Glinda represented a white feminism. And then I didn't
- 2:31Speaker 1: realize that Julia had never seen any of the source
- 2:33Speaker 1: material the book and or the musical. So I was like, well,
- 2:37Speaker 1: you're gonna have to come back when you see how
- 2:39Speaker 1: it all shakes out for Glinda. And here we are.
- 2:44Speaker 1: It's that episode. We're going to be talking a little
- 2:47Speaker 1: bit about Wicked for Good. We'll probably focus mostly on Glinda.
- 2:51Speaker 1: We'll probably definitely get to a point where all bred
- 2:55Speaker 1: that I met Cynthia Revo in December, But Julia, welcome
- 2:59Speaker 1: back to the show. Hello friend and all the friends
- 3:04Speaker 1: in Tolerated Land. Yeah, one of the pitfalls of my
- 3:09Speaker 1: trip to California to meet Alphaba in Oz was that
- 3:12Speaker 1: it did not line up to where you could also
- 3:15Speaker 1: be in Thousand Oaks or Burbank or La or any
- 3:20Speaker 1: of the places that I was for two days compliments
- 3:23Speaker 1: of my car, because I was supposed to be in
- 3:25Speaker 1: La when you were in La. I know. So you know,
- 3:31Speaker 1: here's to having an old girl who does what she does. Yeah.
- 3:37Speaker 1: And something else that's different from last year was last
- 3:41Speaker 1: year I went to Wicked twice on my own and
- 3:44Speaker 1: once with my sister and just like cried for hours
- 3:48Speaker 1: in the movie theater because I was in a place
- 3:51Speaker 1: where I had nothing better to do. But this year,
- 3:53Speaker 1: I've been so busy since Wicked for good release that
- 3:57Speaker 1: I have only seen it the one time, and it
- 3:59Speaker 1: does me a little bit of like it ooh im?
- 4:02Speaker 1: I qualified? I mean yeah, because there are people who
- 4:09Speaker 1: know nothing about hockey having takes about a hockey show.
- 4:14Speaker 1: So there are white men who are having takes about
- 4:17Speaker 1: a hockey show who don't know hockey. So do not
- 4:22Speaker 1: try to distract me. I want my hockey gay boy
- 4:26Speaker 1: boyfriends who love to kiss. I'm just saying, like, you're qualified,
- 4:31Speaker 1: even if you've seen it once. That's all I'm saying.
- 4:33Speaker 1: Thank you, so much I want and honestly, if we're
- 4:36Speaker 1: truth Telleen, I've seen Wicked for Good once, but I
- 4:38Speaker 1: have watched the entirety of Heated Rivalry season one countless times.
- 4:44Speaker 1: It's countless because sometimes I just sit down and go
- 4:47Speaker 1: I'm in the mood for episode three. May I recommend
- 4:52Speaker 1: watching episode three immediately by episode five? Yes, yes, three, five,
- 4:56Speaker 1: and then six. That's the one two punch in case
- 5:01Speaker 1: anyone was wondering it could have been a movie in
- 5:03Speaker 1: its own rights. No, it's just yeah, that's all. We're
- 5:07Speaker 1: here today. We can't do it. Where we can't do
- 5:09Speaker 1: we cannot do it. Hi, Connor and Hudson, I love you,
- 5:14Speaker 1: but in a very platonic mommy way where I just
- 5:17Speaker 1: want to hug you. I just want to mommy you.
- 5:23Speaker 1: It's very weird. I feel very maternal and delighted by you. Okay,
- 5:31Speaker 1: so you how many times? You've probably only seen Wicked
- 5:35Speaker 1: for Good the one time too, right? Yeah? Yeah? So
- 5:39Speaker 1: when you sat into when you sat down to watch
- 5:43Speaker 1: Wicked for Good, how were you still feeling about the
- 5:47Speaker 1: movie franchise in general? And Glinda, Well, I was in
- 5:54Speaker 1: a Jonathan Bailey fever dream. M so I trying to
- 5:59Speaker 1: get stop trying to distract me with all of my
- 6:02Speaker 1: favorite gay boys. So when I when I reach out
- 6:07Speaker 1: to my mom to be like, hey, do you want
- 6:08Speaker 1: to see this because we saw the first one together,
- 6:10Speaker 1: and she's like yes, it was like okay, cool. But
- 6:17Speaker 1: I was expecting very little from Glinda. Yeah. I was
- 6:22Speaker 1: expecting her to do what all white women do, which
- 6:25Speaker 1: is have a little bit of change, but then go
- 6:28Speaker 1: back to taking and protecting themselves, taking care of and
- 6:32Speaker 1: protecting themselves. That is what I was expecting. And then
- 6:36Speaker 1: after three hours of movie and a little bit of
- 6:40Speaker 1: Jonathan Bailey, did that feeling change? Did you go? Well?
- 6:44Speaker 1: Then she surprised me, I said, I said, oh, that's
- 6:49Speaker 1: real sweet. I love that you had a little bit
- 6:51Speaker 1: of a change. But also you're still going around the
- 6:54Speaker 1: county with the narrative that she's bad. I know. It's
- 6:59Speaker 1: so it's such a conflicting thing with Glinda. And I
- 7:06Speaker 1: think it's because I put myself in Alphaba's shoes a
- 7:11Speaker 1: lot instead of Glinda's shoes, and Alphaba loves her so much. Yeah,
- 7:18Speaker 1: And I think that's the crux of this episode. When
- 7:23Speaker 1: I was lucky enough to submit questions that could be
- 7:28Speaker 1: asked to Cynthia Arrivo. I was really in this mindset of, like, friendship,
- 7:35Speaker 1: how do we make sure that we're pouring enough love
- 7:38Speaker 1: in whimsy into our friendships? And how are we also
- 7:42Speaker 1: making sure that we are well aware about whether or
- 7:45Speaker 1: not we're getting that love and whimsy back. And this
- 7:48Speaker 1: idea that friendship and especially female friendships take so much
- 7:53Speaker 1: empathy and support and understanding, and and it can like
- 8:02Speaker 1: and you can just like like wake up and being
- 8:05Speaker 1: like Okay, so and so needed so much support that
- 8:08Speaker 1: I forgot that I needed this support. And now I
- 8:11Speaker 1: feel like I'm drowning in this, that and the other.
- 8:13Speaker 1: And I saw a lot of that in Alphaba and Glinda.
- 8:16Speaker 1: So when I was sitting in front of Cynthia Arrivo,
- 8:21Speaker 1: I just really wanted her to teach me how to
- 8:23Speaker 1: do it. I wanted to be like, hey, Cynthia, I
- 8:29Speaker 1: know you know that we live in the bad place.
- 8:33Speaker 1: We are in there, We're in oz and a lot
- 8:36Speaker 1: of us are the animals, like you know, And I
- 8:41Speaker 1: see you having a lot of grace and love and
- 8:46Speaker 1: empathy for and bye, I see you. I see you
- 8:50Speaker 1: bringing to Alphaba such empathy and love and support for
- 8:57Speaker 1: Glinda and Fierro even after these clear cut indicators that
- 9:03Speaker 1: they still believe that everything is going to work out
- 9:06Speaker 1: fine if the Wizard stays in power, even though you
- 9:11Speaker 1: and I know that that's very much not true, not true.
- 9:15Speaker 1: Men in power have proven us time and time again
- 9:17Speaker 1: to be a bad idea correct, So I really so
- 9:21Speaker 1: I did lean into like how empathetic I found Alphabet
- 9:24Speaker 1: to be in the movie adaptations, and how there's so
- 9:29Speaker 1: much love pouring from her even when she's so disappointed
- 9:34Speaker 1: in Glinda specifically, And I wanted to be like, what
- 9:38Speaker 1: do you think is Alphaba's driving force? How does she
- 9:43Speaker 1: maintain because I don't know if you know this, but
- 9:46Speaker 1: in between movie one and movie two we span about
- 9:49Speaker 1: ten issu years. Oh in the book, there's like a
- 9:56Speaker 1: whole and it might not be ten Please tell me
- 9:59Speaker 1: if it's there's a time difference, there's a we have
- 10:03Speaker 1: a time jump, we have a time yeah. And what
- 10:08Speaker 1: the musical doesn't acknowledge that the movie does a little
- 10:11Speaker 1: bit better at acknowledging is during these years after Alphaba
- 10:16Speaker 1: leaves SiZ, she is running an underground movement for the
- 10:22Speaker 1: animals and their rights. And that's why the propaganda campaign
- 10:27Speaker 1: against her becomes so heated, becomes so strong, And it's
- 10:31Speaker 1: because she's not just as symbols. She's also actively fighting
- 10:35Speaker 1: against the government and she is like thwarting plans and
- 10:41Speaker 1: her Piero's Affair is a lot longer than as long
- 10:45Speaker 1: as your Mind and uh, spoiler alert, although it's a
- 10:49Speaker 1: book that's been out for a decade too, but like
- 10:51Speaker 1: Biero and Alphaba have a son and this what yeah, yeah,
- 10:58Speaker 1: this that and the other. So that comes after we
- 11:05Speaker 1: see her melt. However, I need you to know that
- 11:11Speaker 1: at the end of the book she commits suicide. Oh
- 11:14Speaker 1: trigger uh, And it's because Pierro. She leaves for a
- 11:19Speaker 1: good portion of the book that the scarecrow is Fierro.
- 11:23Speaker 1: And then when Dorothy shows up with her motley crew
- 11:26Speaker 1: of weirdos, it's very apparent that that scarecrow isn't Piero,
- 11:30Speaker 1: and Piero isn't back dead, and therefore it's all too
- 11:33Speaker 1: much to bear and she she exits stage left. Oh yeah,
- 11:40Speaker 1: the book is dark, and I think that Wicked for
- 11:44Speaker 1: Good did a really good job of balancing the darkness
- 11:47Speaker 1: of the movie to the kinda we got to wrap
- 11:52Speaker 1: this up but still make it Broadway Magic of the Musical.
- 11:58Speaker 1: But if I were Alphaba, by the time for good
- 12:03Speaker 1: is happening, I'm at empathy fatigue mode. I'm like, I
- 12:07Speaker 1: gotta get out of town. I gotta fake my own death,
- 12:10Speaker 1: I gotta do all these things I need to be
- 12:13Speaker 1: seen for me. Right. It's like it's like after the
- 12:20Speaker 1: November twenty fourth election and all the black women were like,
- 12:22Speaker 1: we told y'all, we're out, We're taking care of our community. Bye.
- 12:29Speaker 1: And that's and I mean I still feel that way sometimes.
- 12:33Speaker 1: I think, don't come at me for a solution. I
- 12:36Speaker 1: did my job. I'm mad. I'm mad y'all didn't listen. No,
- 12:40Speaker 1: I think you guys do get to be madded until
- 12:42Speaker 1: the end of time. Actually, And so I think that
- 12:45Speaker 1: that's also what surprises me about Alphaba's empathy is I
- 12:50Speaker 1: know by that point I would have reached empathy fatigue. Right,
- 12:55Speaker 1: you know that you've reached empathy fatigue because Glinda did
- 12:59Speaker 1: take way too long to get there. Yeah, like that's
- 13:06Speaker 1: got to be hard, like Alphabet, like it's still kind
- 13:09Speaker 1: of not ride or dying her, but she's definitely still
- 13:13Speaker 1: like you're still somebody eleven, are still my friend? Mm hmm,
- 13:17Speaker 1: like empathy, fatigue and her level of patience. If it
- 13:22Speaker 1: took a friend of mine ten years to get there,
- 13:24Speaker 1: I don't know if we'd still be friends at that point.
- 13:26Speaker 1: And I think that that's a good that's a good point.
- 13:29Speaker 1: And because I think that's it too. I think that
- 13:35Speaker 1: as a woman who loves the characters and who loves
- 13:37Speaker 1: the story and has had like a new resurgence of
- 13:40Speaker 1: the love of Wizard of Oz through all of these
- 13:43Speaker 1: experiences that I've had with Wicked, you still want to
- 13:47Speaker 1: like give Glinda her flowers and be like, Okay, Glinda,
- 13:51Speaker 1: you did it, and now you got there, and now
- 13:54Speaker 1: the book is going to show you its secret ink
- 13:56Speaker 1: and we're gonna be and you're gonna like, you know,
- 13:59Speaker 1: behead Madam Morble in the town square or whatever in
- 14:02Speaker 1: front of all of the animals, and that'll be you know,
- 14:06Speaker 1: the tits, but also inflicting trauma and a new generation.
- 14:13Speaker 1: But then, as a white woman, I also have to
- 14:15Speaker 1: understand that my TikTok algorithm is going to then show
- 14:19Speaker 1: me uh tiktoks from women of color being like, hey, everybody,
- 14:26Speaker 1: Glinda fully thinks Alphaba is dead and that's the only
- 14:30Speaker 1: thing that radicalized her. It took her only friend dying
- 14:36Speaker 1: for her to be like, maybe it's bad here, Maybe
- 14:40Speaker 1: this is a bad place. Guys, is it bad? Like
- 14:47Speaker 1: what do you mean? What do you mean? And I
- 14:50Speaker 1: do think we'll have so many Republicans who will I mean,
- 14:57Speaker 1: we are we're already seeing that happen where people are like,
- 15:00Speaker 1: what do you mean I have to pay back by
- 15:01Speaker 1: student loans. I thought that that would only be happening
- 15:04Speaker 1: to the pores and the criminals, and it's like, no,
- 15:11Speaker 1: it turns out that they didn't have a list of
- 15:13Speaker 1: people that were cool with them, and you're you're on it. Yeah,
- 15:18Speaker 1: isn't that interesting how you want everything to be fair
- 15:21Speaker 1: and equitable, but only for ya, like only when it
- 15:26Speaker 1: excludes white only when it excludes like you from that process.
- 15:30Speaker 1: Like you still want privileges, you still want treated to
- 15:34Speaker 1: be treated with special treatment, but when we want to
- 15:39Speaker 1: make the system fair, you want to cry, yeah, because
- 15:43Speaker 1: it means that you also don't get the same. Isn't
- 15:45Speaker 1: that why you got rid of affirmative action? And I
- 15:48Speaker 1: do believe that is Glinda's driving course where she's like,
- 15:52Speaker 1: I understand that things aren't perfect, but they're at least
- 15:57Speaker 1: good enough for some of us. That that's fine, right,
- 15:59Speaker 1: And Feara tells her no, No, what's good for the
- 16:04Speaker 1: few isn't good for the many. Yeah, And because she
- 16:10Speaker 1: asks him, he's like, you know, you just want this
- 16:12Speaker 1: big wedding and this like mirage of you being powerful
- 16:17Speaker 1: and a magic user and whatever, and we've got to stop.
- 16:22Speaker 1: And she's like, well, who would be able to resist
- 16:24Speaker 1: all of this? It's nice? And he goes alpha, bah, Yep,
- 16:29Speaker 1: your friend who lives in the woods, she is hiding.
- 16:33Speaker 1: She's living and hiding because everyone's lying about her. Yeah,
- 16:38Speaker 1: and she is not safe and she's not safe. And
- 16:43Speaker 1: and I think, like, what a big takeaway we can
- 16:46Speaker 1: take from Glinda for even like liberal women out there,
- 16:51Speaker 1: is that, like it's not enough to just know that
- 16:54Speaker 1: the system is bad, Like I know that the then
- 17:00Speaker 1: new that things weren't on the top top, because why
- 17:05Speaker 1: would her friend be so mad if things were at
- 17:07Speaker 1: the tippy top and things were actually okay? And there
- 17:11Speaker 1: is part of me that is just naive or empathetic
- 17:16Speaker 1: enough to believe that Glinda did not like that it
- 17:21Speaker 1: wasn't fair to everyone. But there's such a difference between
- 17:26Speaker 1: knowing all of that and then like actively voicing those
- 17:31Speaker 1: opinions and actively doing something about it, right right, Glinda's
- 17:37Speaker 1: like all of the actresses that we beg, we literally
- 17:41Speaker 1: beg to be like please say that you're voting for Kamala,
- 17:45Speaker 1: and they're like, what is my platform matter? And we're
- 17:48Speaker 1: like literally everything to some stupid people. Yeah, yeah, Yeah,
- 17:54Speaker 1: it's interesting because like there are moments too, so like
- 17:57Speaker 1: when you're talking about you know, even the woman, and
- 17:59Speaker 1: I might first that was even little wouldn't be pissing
- 18:02Speaker 1: me off, because like there's there's still sort of this
- 18:06Speaker 1: like hurdle of like I don't know what to do
- 18:09Speaker 1: because it's never been in Glinda's DNA to actually have
- 18:13Speaker 1: to fight for anything. I have to advocate for anything,
- 18:16Speaker 1: have to actually work hard for anything, and so you know,
- 18:22Speaker 1: she doesn't know how to do that, and so she
- 18:25Speaker 1: fumbles it a little bit. She does a good job,
- 18:28Speaker 1: and then she fumbles it a little bit, and you're
- 18:31Speaker 1: just like and for you know, people who have to fight,
- 18:34Speaker 1: have to advocate, have to do everything in order to survive.
- 18:38Speaker 1: And then told why you got always make it about
- 18:40Speaker 1: insert whatever issue here, like because that issue is the
- 18:43Speaker 1: reason why I have to fight, Like this is this
- 18:46Speaker 1: is a never ending circle. It's not a chicken her
- 18:49Speaker 1: like this is a chicken or egg conversation. I would
- 18:52Speaker 1: love to be able like in Alphabet's case. I would
- 18:55Speaker 1: love to be able to go a day without having
- 18:56Speaker 1: to defend myself and why I deserve to be here.
- 19:01Speaker 1: Linda's never had to do that. She's never had to
- 19:03Speaker 1: do that, and like all of the white women who
- 19:07Speaker 1: have come before her, she doesn't understand that, like all
- 19:12Speaker 1: of the shallow ways that the system is making you
- 19:15Speaker 1: feel that you're safe and wanted and important, are are
- 19:23Speaker 1: literally just mirages. They're literally just actual They don't respect
- 19:30Speaker 1: you either, Glinda, right, why would they? Why would they?
- 19:38Speaker 1: But the belief, that's the myth, that's the belief, that's
- 19:40Speaker 1: the belief of all these white women that they do
- 19:42Speaker 1: respect you because you know, at least your white privilege
- 19:45Speaker 1: is gonna save you at the very end of the day,
- 19:48Speaker 1: your white privilege is gonna save you. And to be fair,
- 19:51Speaker 1: I am gonna yell at all of us now and
- 19:53Speaker 1: alienate all of us right now and be like this
- 19:56Speaker 1: is why I get so pissed off about the secret
- 19:58Speaker 1: lives of Mormon wives because you all keep trying to
- 20:01Speaker 1: tell me that they're on my side, and I do
- 20:03Speaker 1: not believe it for a minute. I do not believe
- 20:05Speaker 1: it for a minute. I know that they say we're
- 20:08Speaker 1: like Mormon Mormons, but we have feminists sprinkles. Stop stop.
- 20:13Speaker 1: They are taking they are co opting my language. But
- 20:19Speaker 1: at the end of the day, every choice those women
- 20:22Speaker 1: may make are in the best interests of themselves and
- 20:27Speaker 1: their paycheck, and they're never going to leave those loser men.
- 20:30Speaker 1: And that's why they don't garner a lot more empathy
- 20:36Speaker 1: from me like the real housewives do. But you know
- 20:38Speaker 1: what I'm saying, Like, I do think that people are
- 20:40Speaker 1: like again, people are like NELI why Zaley's gonna be
- 20:43Speaker 1: abo misogyny about men being losers with you? And I
- 20:46Speaker 1: was like, because you guys keep making me watch the
- 20:48Speaker 1: Mormon Wives in different places. They keep infiltrating my mediums. Yeah,
- 20:54Speaker 1: and you know, because having and you know, having grown
- 20:57Speaker 1: up in a very religious setting. It's not the LDS,
- 21:01Speaker 1: but it is definitely a controlling religious situation. I'm allowing
- 21:09Speaker 1: myself the theory that it is part of the agenda
- 21:12Speaker 1: to get us to become more conservative, because they're making
- 21:15Speaker 1: it cool and they're making it look interesting and sparkly
- 21:18Speaker 1: and all these things where it's like, that's not the
- 21:21Speaker 1: reality when you're in it. Like the reality when you're
- 21:24Speaker 1: in it is that, And it's ironic. It's ironic because
- 21:28Speaker 1: these women are the breadwinners. They're doing the work. They're
- 21:30Speaker 1: the ones who are making sure their families are you know,
- 21:34Speaker 1: have a roof over the head and food on the table,
- 21:36Speaker 1: which is not what the religion is preaching necessarily, right,
- 21:40Speaker 1: Like you're supposed to be submissive to your husband. Your
- 21:41Speaker 1: husband's supposed to be doing all those things. But it's
- 21:43Speaker 1: the women doing all those things. And so like this
- 21:46Speaker 1: idea that like we're going to be Mormon wise and
- 21:53Speaker 1: just like be hot on the internet and like we're
- 21:56Speaker 1: are garments. And I know there's more to it than that.
- 21:59Speaker 1: Like I do appreciate she the female camaraderie that happens
- 22:02Speaker 1: when they are in emotional distress and they are there
- 22:04Speaker 1: for each other. I think that's beautiful. I also think
- 22:07Speaker 1: that it is a game of let's make religion look good. Yeah,
- 22:14Speaker 1: And you know what's weird. Okay, as you know, I
- 22:17Speaker 1: guess this topic will do. I guess this episode will
- 22:19Speaker 1: just be jumping. But it's all connected. I swear it's
- 22:22Speaker 1: all connected. I promised. I went and saw the independent
- 22:26Speaker 1: film The Threesome was Zoey Deutsch. How do you say
- 22:31Speaker 1: her last name? Deutsch? I say it ron all the time.
- 22:37Speaker 1: It had her and one of the actresses from Bottoms
- 22:42Speaker 1: whose name I knew yesterday and today it has left me.
- 22:46Speaker 1: And is it Rachel's on it? No, Senate, No, I
- 22:50Speaker 1: would have remembered Rachel's in it because I have conflicting
- 22:52Speaker 1: feelings about I love La. It's Oh, it is Ruby Cruz. Okay,
- 22:57Speaker 1: she was. I didn't recognize her IMDb photo that's on
- 23:00Speaker 1: me or it's not. Yeah, honestly, sometimes those IMDb photos
- 23:07Speaker 1: be catfishing, be catfishing. So anyways, I, on one of
- 23:10Speaker 1: my movie Tuesdays, went and saw The Threesome. I went
- 23:13Speaker 1: on my own. I didn't talk to very many people
- 23:15Speaker 1: about it. I liked the movie. It's about this guy
- 23:18Speaker 1: who gets to hook up with his long standing crush,
- 23:21Speaker 1: but it happens to be during a threesome and he
- 23:24Speaker 1: ends up impregnating both of those women. That's the base
- 23:27Speaker 1: of the movie. Oh wait, I'm familiar with this movie.
- 23:30Speaker 1: I haven't seen it. It's on Netflix. Should anyone want
- 23:33Speaker 1: to check it out? Because I would love for people
- 23:35Speaker 1: to tell me, namly, you just got swept away by
- 23:38Speaker 1: independent film and you're wrong. But I'm pretty sure I'm right. Okay,
- 23:42Speaker 1: because media literacy is dead. This is why I didn't
- 23:45Speaker 1: talk to anybody about Heated Rivalry, because I just wanted
- 23:47Speaker 1: to be horning for it and then go to bed.
- 23:50Speaker 1: I'm because you know, you could have talked to me
- 23:51Speaker 1: about it, but that's okay, it's fine. I also told
- 23:53Speaker 1: you why chemicals made it so I couldn't so anyways,
- 24:02Speaker 1: So I'm at the Threesome. I'm watching it. The Threesome
- 24:07Speaker 1: is one of the only movies, and maybe this is
- 24:09Speaker 1: why the people who think that it's conservative propaganda have
- 24:12Speaker 1: a leg to stand on. I think the Threesome forced
- 24:16Speaker 1: me to confront the fact that had I had either
- 24:23Speaker 1: a found a man who could treat me halfway decently
- 24:29Speaker 1: and still perform heteronormativity and lean more into being bisexual
- 24:34Speaker 1: than a sapphic woman, I would have had children. I
- 24:40Speaker 1: would have been very good at mothering most children, and
- 24:42Speaker 1: I probably would have been a decent mother, and I
- 24:45Speaker 1: probably would have liked it. Or B if I had
- 24:50Speaker 1: been able to live a more authentic queer life and
- 24:53Speaker 1: been open to dating women from the jump and found
- 24:58Speaker 1: a woman who loved me in the way that I deserved,
- 25:01Speaker 1: I would have done whatever we needed to do to
- 25:04Speaker 1: have children, and I would have been a pretty decent mom.
- 25:08Speaker 1: But as I'm sitting at thirty seven years old, neither
- 25:11Speaker 1: one of those two things has happened. And therefore I
- 25:15Speaker 1: am child free by choice because my life has changed,
- 25:19Speaker 1: and the past and my goals and my life has changed.
- 25:22Speaker 1: And the scene that made it all kind of come
- 25:24Speaker 1: crashing down on me is the fact that Zoe's character
- 25:30Speaker 1: has a knee jerk reaction and approach and approaches isn't
- 25:38Speaker 1: the right word, entertains the idea that she's going to
- 25:40Speaker 1: have an abortion, and they give to an abortion clinic.
- 25:44Speaker 1: She ends up changing her mind, and then she's also
- 25:48Speaker 1: whenever we see abortion stories correct, and then she does
- 25:51Speaker 1: not go through with it, and then I and then
- 25:54Speaker 1: she ends up like really buying into the idea of
- 25:57Speaker 1: her as a mom, and I was like, you know,
- 25:58Speaker 1: I just don't feel like I was ever going to
- 26:00Speaker 1: and the opportunity to buy into thought me mean a mom,
- 26:04Speaker 1: because you usually need a partner to be you know.
- 26:08Speaker 1: It's just like a million of things, all the things
- 26:10Speaker 1: I've never been accidentally pregnant and had to conceptualize doing
- 26:15Speaker 1: it on my own right, Right, So there are all
- 26:20Speaker 1: of these things that have never happened in my life
- 26:22Speaker 1: that would force me to confront why it is that
- 26:25Speaker 1: I've chosen to be child free and that's a privilege.
- 26:28Speaker 1: That's actually privilege. Right, So I like have this weird
- 26:33Speaker 1: emotional response to the movie or whatever. And Ruby Cruz's character,
- 26:37Speaker 1: compared to Zoe Douche Boich, I still don't say it, right,
- 26:45Speaker 1: is a she comes from a more conservative religious family.
- 26:50Speaker 1: It's ambiguous where she falls on all of that spectrum.
- 26:55Speaker 1: Now people have now taken to the letterbox and TikTok
- 26:59Speaker 1: to tell me that this is a terrible movie that
- 27:01Speaker 1: I've had an emotional response to, and that is actually
- 27:05Speaker 1: conservative messaging hidden in liberal plain sight, because it tracked
- 27:11Speaker 1: me with a threesome and then fed me all of
- 27:15Speaker 1: these conservative heteronormative norms. And I was like, then, why
- 27:19Speaker 1: don't I then why wasn't I angry? You know, I
- 27:22Speaker 1: usually get angry about shit like that. Yeah, I am
- 27:25Speaker 1: very hard to trap at this point because I go
- 27:30Speaker 1: in with the chip on my shoulder about everything when
- 27:32Speaker 1: it comes to women in the way that they're portrayed
- 27:35Speaker 1: in media. So instead I'm watching two women and some dude,
- 27:41Speaker 1: and the movie does focus mostly on the dune and
- 27:43Speaker 1: how this is like really all of his problem and
- 27:46Speaker 1: these women, But I'm kind of like filling in blanks
- 27:51Speaker 1: and reading between the lines, and I'm like, honestly, this
- 27:54Speaker 1: is this is a movie about the way that women
- 28:00Speaker 1: in our consequences because of choices that are made or
- 28:05Speaker 1: are they make or are made for them. And you know,
- 28:11Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure there's that conservative propaganda just because she
- 28:15Speaker 1: chooses to not have an abortion and the other girl
- 28:18Speaker 1: goes to church, because at no point does the movie
- 28:21Speaker 1: side with anybody. And I think if it had sided
- 28:26Speaker 1: with Ruby, or if everything would have worked out okay
- 28:33Speaker 1: because Zoe didn't have that abortion or whatever, I might
- 28:36Speaker 1: feel differently and I'd be like, oh, that's secretly trying
- 28:39Speaker 1: to make me feel like churchy people are the ideal
- 28:42Speaker 1: partner because of all of the traditional tradwife norms, and
- 28:46Speaker 1: I was like, but that's not what happens at the
- 28:48Speaker 1: end of the movie. Without spoiling anything, it turns out
- 28:51Speaker 1: that like, no one was right, and it's all just
- 28:53Speaker 1: like a slice of life where things are ambiguous and
- 28:57Speaker 1: left up to not really interpretation. But like you know,
- 29:00Speaker 1: life is messy. We're never really all the way in
- 29:03Speaker 1: the right or all of the way in the wrong.
- 29:04Speaker 1: It's always somewhere in the middle. And I'm having a
- 29:09Speaker 1: problem with that movie being like coded as like conservative
- 29:16Speaker 1: properaganda because I'm like, I don't I think that that's
- 29:18Speaker 1: a very easy out to not have to actually think
- 29:23Speaker 1: deeper about the implications of what pregnancy and motherhood have
- 29:27Speaker 1: on women, right, And it is the feeling of the
- 29:30Speaker 1: movie that it mostly focuses on the man's emotional and
- 29:35Speaker 1: mental development through this journey. But I write the movie,
- 29:39Speaker 1: so that's not on me. That's on them. That's you're bad,
- 29:44Speaker 1: not mine. So but I will say that I do
- 29:48Speaker 1: think that the more all of that to say, and
- 29:50Speaker 1: maybe I cut this out because now I feel like
- 29:52Speaker 1: I've just lost the plot, But like all that to say,
- 29:54Speaker 1: I do feel like the Mormon wives are tradwife propaganda,
- 30:00Speaker 1: and it's being spoon fed to me as a woman
- 30:04Speaker 1: who gets on a hot mic once a week to
- 30:06Speaker 1: scream about misogyny, to be like, what if you did
- 30:09Speaker 1: it like your hair was curled and you loved making
- 30:13Speaker 1: sour at all. It's how I'm feeling trapped by Taylor
- 30:16Speaker 1: Swift currently, and like tripped and it's like, girl, I
- 30:22Speaker 1: supported you. I did all of the things that we
- 30:26Speaker 1: as liberal women did to make it okay to like
- 30:29Speaker 1: Taylor Swift and be like, you know, she's a billionaire,
- 30:32Speaker 1: but she donates a lot to charity, and she centers
- 30:37Speaker 1: men in all of our songs. But it's because men
- 30:39Speaker 1: hurt people. And I mean all of the excuses and
- 30:43Speaker 1: I did them on this hot mic all for you
- 30:46Speaker 1: to throw all of my principles away because a big,
- 30:50Speaker 1: tall football man might be the key to your daddy
- 30:54Speaker 1: finally loving you. Oh oh oh, because I think I
- 31:03Speaker 1: nailed it. I think Taylor Swift will never be a
- 31:05Speaker 1: woman who can be trusted because every decision she makes
- 31:10Speaker 1: is in honor of do you think Daddy will love
- 31:12Speaker 1: me today? Because I think I've decided it's odd that
- 31:16Speaker 1: he's been almost absentee until the Era's tour, and he
- 31:21Speaker 1: was like retired and had the time until all of
- 31:23Speaker 1: a sudden engage with her. I literally thought that Scott
- 31:27Speaker 1: and Andrea were on good terms because he was never around,
- 31:33Speaker 1: you know. And now he's throwing out the guitar picks
- 31:36Speaker 1: and being like, marry this football man, honey, have all
- 31:39Speaker 1: of his babies. Mate sour though, and again it's like,
- 31:43Speaker 1: don't you trick me into your fucking trad wife propaganda
- 31:48Speaker 1: is at the end of the day, isn't that all
- 31:50Speaker 1: just women want is to be married in in a
- 31:54Speaker 1: comfortable house with children and a husband. Aren't you angry
- 31:59Speaker 1: for being single because you haven't found the one yet?
- 32:04Speaker 1: And that's what Golinda is buying into. She's like, you
- 32:06Speaker 1: want to be there, like you want to be Alphaba,
- 32:08Speaker 1: living in the woods with one cardigan to your name,
- 32:14Speaker 1: a cardigan you had to make yourself. Don't you want
- 32:18Speaker 1: all of these beautiful clothings. Don't you want all of
- 32:22Speaker 1: this praise and joy? Don't you want this hot, hot
- 32:26Speaker 1: man who doesn't want you. We'll make sure you get married. Yeah,
- 32:33Speaker 1: And and I guess, like I guess because Alphaba was
- 32:39Speaker 1: being so empathetic to it on the screen. I too
- 32:42Speaker 1: was led into being empathetic, but I know that if
- 32:46Speaker 1: family was in OZ, she'd be pissed. She'd be like,
- 32:50Speaker 1: Golinda is a Mormon wife, like a real life of
- 32:52Speaker 1: Mormon wives, a secret life of Mormon wives. And I think,
- 32:57Speaker 1: and I think the propaganda story line of this movie
- 33:01Speaker 1: is so strong because as algorithms get more air tight
- 33:07Speaker 1: and you basically have to go out of your way
- 33:09Speaker 1: to see movie trailers at this point that might have
- 33:13Speaker 1: a little spice to them, yeah, on whether or not
- 33:17Speaker 1: the story is cookie cutter or just cutesye, because people
- 33:24Speaker 1: have been Sunday Me movies and I'm like, I didn't
- 33:25Speaker 1: even hear about this movie, and I would have given
- 33:28Speaker 1: this movie a chance, like and they're like, I don't know.
- 33:30Speaker 1: It just never hit your algorithm, And that's scary. The
- 33:33Speaker 1: amount of news that does not hit my algorithm is scary. Well,
- 33:37Speaker 1: it's like when we were talking and you're like, if
- 33:39Speaker 1: you have a gay man talking about heat a rivalry
- 33:42Speaker 1: sents me because I haven't seen it, And I'm like,
- 33:44Speaker 1: how have you not seen it? That the half of
- 33:46Speaker 1: my hated rivalry TikTok because my algorithm knows that I
- 33:50Speaker 1: don't listen to men, so they have to find me. Yeah,
- 33:56Speaker 1: I don't listen to them, and that is a flaw
- 34:01Speaker 1: in my system. Maybe probably not though, but it's like
- 34:08Speaker 1: and again and then it gets like wider than Glinda
- 34:11Speaker 1: and baroh right, because then it's like, well, I'm not
- 34:13Speaker 1: mad at the Munchkins because probably half of them have
- 34:17Speaker 1: a third grade rating level in their back pocket, and
- 34:21Speaker 1: of course they believe. But think of munchkin Land. Munchkin
- 34:24Speaker 1: Land is kind of like I think when you think
- 34:28Speaker 1: of America, munchkin Land is just like the grassroots midwestern
- 34:33Speaker 1: good for all, like very easily susceptible to manipulation because
- 34:40Speaker 1: they don't have to ask enough questions because a munchkin
- 34:43Speaker 1: Land is a very simple kind of life. Yeah, and
- 34:46Speaker 1: you know what I was thinking too, like during the
- 34:48Speaker 1: movie when I was watching in there, like Munchkins can't
- 34:50Speaker 1: pass anymore or whatever it was how they said it,
- 34:53Speaker 1: like Munchkins have to have a special permit, and I
- 34:56Speaker 1: was like, that's gross, I mean, not like not to
- 35:01Speaker 1: minimize it supposed to be four travel bands for the
- 35:05Speaker 1: obviously travel bands, and I was like that's gross. And also,
- 35:09Speaker 1: you know who's having you know who loves to slap
- 35:12Speaker 1: travel bands on people. I wonder, I wonder, and it
- 35:19Speaker 1: was I think for me, like the whole thing was
- 35:21Speaker 1: just like this is just like too real. It's terrible
- 35:25Speaker 1: to say, but it was like, this is basically you
- 35:28Speaker 1: just made me watch the news, but with sparkly pink
- 35:31Speaker 1: and green and munchkins. Yeah. I will say that the
- 35:34Speaker 1: musical is way more of an escapist piece than either
- 35:37Speaker 1: the The book is probably the most extreme, like we
- 35:39Speaker 1: have to face some dark truth about ourselves, yeah, cabitalism.
- 35:43Speaker 1: And then the movie is like John mch being like,
- 35:46Speaker 1: I promise you're going to get to see a glittery dress,
- 35:50Speaker 1: and I promised the music's going to be banging, but
- 35:54Speaker 1: we're all going to have to face how susceptible we
- 35:57Speaker 1: are too propaganda And I wonder what the Wicked movie
- 36:03Speaker 1: because you know, they like when I talk about how
- 36:07Speaker 1: Amanda Seafreed was so pissed off that she couldn't beat Glinda,
- 36:11Speaker 1: and my sister finally put into context for me and
- 36:13Speaker 1: she goes, you know, she auditioned for like a decade.
- 36:18Speaker 1: Oh dang, yeah, and then she and then and then
- 36:23Speaker 1: I had to like kind of sit with it because
- 36:24Speaker 1: I go. I remember when they first announced the Wicked movie,
- 36:29Speaker 1: we all thought Alpha Ba would be played by Liah
- 36:36Speaker 1: Michelle because Liah Michelle was uh Idina Menzel's daughter on
- 36:43Speaker 1: Glee and she was always doing Alphaba songs. Yeah she was,
- 36:48Speaker 1: So when that movie got announced, we were in the
- 36:51Speaker 1: height of Glee. So I was in college, so yeah,
- 36:54Speaker 1: that's a fucking decade ago. And also was it. But
- 36:59Speaker 1: then okay, sorry, my brain's going. My brain went, but
- 37:02Speaker 1: didn't Lee Michelle also become super obsessed with doing My
- 37:04Speaker 1: Fair Lady. No, it was funny girl, funny girls. Sorry,
- 37:09Speaker 1: thank you. Don't get me started on my Glee lore
- 37:12Speaker 1: because I have it all. I know, I know, okay,
- 37:17Speaker 1: but regardless, the point is the same. I didn't realize Amanda.
- 37:22Speaker 1: I just I didn't realize Amandasy food was like that
- 37:25Speaker 1: dedicated to like, oh yeah, I so you know she's
- 37:30Speaker 1: in the Mama Mia movies. Yeah, but I think she
- 37:33Speaker 1: did like extensive vocal training to try and get to
- 37:38Speaker 1: like Glinda level. I wonder, now here's my sick little
- 37:44Speaker 1: conspiracy theory. You know, Ariana Grande's vocal coach who she
- 37:48Speaker 1: worked with for her audition and tapes for Glinda. Yeah,
- 37:53Speaker 1: that she'd be sitting in the audition room and be
- 37:57Speaker 1: handing out like their card to be like work with
- 37:59Speaker 1: my local coach. D Like they're so great and they're
- 38:03Speaker 1: so helpful and I've had a wonderful opportunity with them.
- 38:06Speaker 1: And her mom then said, why would she be giving
- 38:10Speaker 1: away her like secret weapon to these women? And I
- 38:17Speaker 1: wonder if, like Amanda Seyfried also was one of those people.
- 38:22Speaker 1: That's my conspiracy theory. No one will ever know. A
- 38:25Speaker 1: Grande's mom can contact me if she wants, but yeah,
- 38:30Speaker 1: because I know she because Ariana Grande did say, like
- 38:33Speaker 1: I worked with a vocal coach because there's a lot
- 38:35Speaker 1: of operatic, so much elements to Glinda. Oh yeah, oh yeah,
- 38:41Speaker 1: Like singing the look At soundtrack is a workout? Was
- 38:45Speaker 1: a workout? Yeah, Like you have muscles contracting and going
- 38:51Speaker 1: in that diaphragm. And I'm saying that as someone who
- 38:55Speaker 1: is just a car and shower singer, so big car.
- 39:00Speaker 1: It's so funny, but I would, but think about what
- 39:04Speaker 1: a different So I graduated college in twenty eleven, Okay,
- 39:11Speaker 1: think of how different the Wicked movie would have been
- 39:14Speaker 1: in twenty fourteen. Twenty fifteen compared to the Wicked movie
- 39:17Speaker 1: of today. Yeah, no, I think if it had anything
- 39:28Speaker 1: prior to twenty fifteen, with the introduction of that man,
- 39:32Speaker 1: you know what I mean. Yeah, because I think I
- 39:36Speaker 1: think it would have been sparkly and would have just
- 39:39Speaker 1: been one movie and it would have just been the
- 39:41Speaker 1: run time of the musical. It would have been the
- 39:43Speaker 1: musical book like a very very like not verbatim, but
- 39:46Speaker 1: like pretty much like, hey, this is a true translation
- 39:50Speaker 1: of it, right, like because aren't there Yeah, because there
- 39:54Speaker 1: wouldn't have been a mess. There wouldn't have been an
- 39:56Speaker 1: additional message to necessarily like, yeah, emphasize, and it would
- 40:01Speaker 1: have been weird in twenty fifteen to be so anti fascist,
- 40:07Speaker 1: so anti fascist, so like we gotta be aware of propaganda.
- 40:11Speaker 1: It would have made John mcho look like a conspiracy
- 40:13Speaker 1: theory and that's how people and that's how people feel
- 40:17Speaker 1: about Gregory and maguire when he wrote Wicked and all
- 40:21Speaker 1: his other books. Yeah. Yeah, wow, interesting, that's so interesting
- 40:31Speaker 1: to think about, Like what Wicked would have been in
- 40:34Speaker 1: twenty thirteen. Uh huh, that was like peak Obama. Yeah,
- 40:40Speaker 1: I was gonna say that we were still like Obama
- 40:43Speaker 1: ho man, Well, how white people were. I mean, we
- 40:50Speaker 1: were like, yay, we're terrified of what's next. Actually, I
- 40:56Speaker 1: mean and honestly as you should have been, because we
- 40:58Speaker 1: knew that. And now there's all these like think pieces
- 41:01Speaker 1: like books coming out where they're like, we've drawn the
- 41:04Speaker 1: trajectory of how we got here with Donald Trump, and
- 41:06Speaker 1: like my family and I are like, yeah, could have
- 41:09Speaker 1: had just a conversation with any person of color who
- 41:13Speaker 1: was in tuned with their person of colorless and while
- 41:17Speaker 1: we are laughing about the fact that like Barack Obaba
- 41:20Speaker 1: was president and some of us got to be happy
- 41:22Speaker 1: for a little bit. Yeah, make no. Let me be
- 41:29Speaker 1: absolutely clear. I missed Barack Obaba every day. Let me
- 41:32Speaker 1: plug another podcast. While I'm on my podcast, y'all, listen
- 41:36Speaker 1: to Cynthia Revo's episode of In My Opinion because I
- 41:41Speaker 1: did the moment. It came out, great episode, not to red.
- 41:46Speaker 1: But I got to meet Cynthia the day after that
- 41:49Speaker 1: episode aired. Oh nice, So I got still fresh from
- 41:53Speaker 1: Michelle Obama Cynthia Revo. I love that. So some of
- 41:58Speaker 1: us are God's favorite, but I guess that's me. Oh
- 42:03Speaker 1: my God. Now, because you know John m ch a
- 42:08Speaker 1: very humble man. Uh. Currently, one of my heroes made
- 42:12Speaker 1: one of the greatest rom comms of all time, Step
- 42:15Speaker 1: Up two, Take It to the Streets, Crazy Rotasis, Oh,
- 42:18Speaker 1: Crazy Rich because I was about to go you know
- 42:23Speaker 1: the way that John m ch humbles himself is yeah,
- 42:26Speaker 1: they handed the guy that didn't Step Up two Taking
- 42:28Speaker 1: It to the Streets the Wicked movie. And then so
- 42:34Speaker 1: I was gonna make that joke, and then you were like,
- 42:36Speaker 1: greatest rom cup of all time and I was like,
- 42:38Speaker 1: are you keying up I joke? And you would know,
- 42:40Speaker 1: you dumb ass Crazy Rich Ages, which is a beautiful movie. John, John,
- 42:45Speaker 1: I know you're listening because we're forever connected. Please know
- 42:49Speaker 1: that I know that crazy I just rewatched Crazy Crazy Wretch.
- 42:54Speaker 1: I can't that movie. I cannot wait for the sequel.
- 42:57Speaker 1: I hear you're working on it. You you know when
- 43:01Speaker 1: it's about to go about I don't rhythm probably won't
- 43:04Speaker 1: tell me well, And I'm like, they even work around
- 43:06Speaker 1: this sequel for alone time. That movie came out when
- 43:09Speaker 1: my child was still in high school. I know, I'm like,
- 43:15Speaker 1: give it to me, now, give it to me, now,
- 43:18Speaker 1: give it to me now, John, and the books, you
- 43:20Speaker 1: know I should read the book. I'm like, because I
- 43:23Speaker 1: remember enjoying the book series. But again I read them
- 43:26Speaker 1: like ten years ago. So I'm like, do the books
- 43:31Speaker 1: hold up because the movie holds up? The movie still
- 43:34Speaker 1: hold up. Yeah, I listened to the book. I need
- 43:37Speaker 1: to listen to all of them. And I meant too,
- 43:40Speaker 1: in between movies, which I guess I'm still in. Yeah,
- 43:43Speaker 1: you still are. Oh. I love John m Chew. I
- 43:47Speaker 1: have such like an artist crush on John m Chew.
- 43:51Speaker 1: I'm convinced for some reason that the reason why the
- 43:56Speaker 1: Wicked movies come off is so empathetic and heartfelt is
- 44:01Speaker 1: because he's so empathetic and heartfelt. Yeah. I think it
- 44:05Speaker 1: makes a difference, Like you can tell when somebody who
- 44:07Speaker 1: is very passionate about their work is no longer affiliated
- 44:13Speaker 1: with said work because something is off right, like something
- 44:16Speaker 1: feels like it's missing. It's the heart that goes behind it,
- 44:19Speaker 1: you know. And I have said this like in private.
- 44:23Speaker 1: I don't know if I've said it in public, but
- 44:24Speaker 1: you know, John emchu is in charge of the Britney
- 44:27Speaker 1: biopic based off of Woman in Me. Yeah, and we
- 44:30Speaker 1: trust him. We trust him. Would I have loved for
- 44:33Speaker 1: it to have been any woman on the planet probably probably,
- 44:38Speaker 1: how with that said, With that said, there are some
- 44:42Speaker 1: women that I'm like, I can't trust you with this story,
- 44:44Speaker 1: and I'm sorry to be that bitch. Also, as someone
- 44:48Speaker 1: as people who grew up in the height of Britney,
- 44:51Speaker 1: it was a lot of women on woman crime when
- 44:54Speaker 1: a lot of there was a lot of women on
- 44:57Speaker 1: woman crime when it came to Brittany, we we could
- 45:01Speaker 1: have been more supportive. Yep, we didn't know we were
- 45:04Speaker 1: so young, but instead we fed into the propaganda machine
- 45:07Speaker 1: of her being a bad mom. And in that era
- 45:10Speaker 1: of America, you couldn't be a bad mom, a bad
- 45:14Speaker 1: mom who put themselves first, or was having a public breakdown. Well,
- 45:20Speaker 1: no one wanted to ask why she was having a
- 45:22Speaker 1: public breakdown, like yesterday, I was having a conversation with
- 45:25Speaker 1: my kid. I forget exactly how it came about, but
- 45:28Speaker 1: something basically we landed on, Hey, if we're not asking
- 45:32Speaker 1: why is the woman reacting to this man this way?
- 45:36Speaker 1: That's problem number one. Because women don't do things just
- 45:41Speaker 1: because there's a reason. There's been a someone's been provoked,
- 45:45Speaker 1: someone's been repeatedly poked, right, Like, this isn't just a
- 45:49Speaker 1: one off. Oh my god, that woman is crazy. But
- 45:51Speaker 1: that is what men perceive it to be because they
- 45:53Speaker 1: don't understand that their actions have reactions. Yeah can I can?
- 46:00Speaker 1: I be very honest about my why Wicked for Good
- 46:04Speaker 1: got a four star rating on my letterbox instead of
- 46:07Speaker 1: a five star rating. Yeah. Always, And you tell me
- 46:12Speaker 1: if the way I'm gonna phraise this means that this
- 46:14Speaker 1: is a Patreon only moment. Okay. I sat in that
- 46:17Speaker 1: movie for over an hour and we finally got into
- 46:21Speaker 1: that Alphaba nest in the Woods that I got to visit,
- 46:24Speaker 1: and it's beautiful. Check out my social media for the pictures,
- 46:29Speaker 1: and I was like, let's get it all. Oh, let's
- 46:38Speaker 1: get it all. And when we got snippets of as
- 46:44Speaker 1: Long as Your Mind, Chris DeRosa of Fixing Pamous people
- 46:49Speaker 1: texted me their sex noise sister and this shut this song.
- 46:53Speaker 1: It's gonna be a full blown sex scene, and I
- 46:55Speaker 1: was like, let's get it all. As long as Your
- 46:59Speaker 1: Mind is the slowest song in the in the musical.
- 47:03Speaker 1: It's my favorite song, but it drags. It drags song.
- 47:05Speaker 1: You know, you know it's a slow song. It's a ballad.
- 47:08Speaker 1: If you will, And so I'm watching it, and I
- 47:12Speaker 1: told you this the entire time. I'm like, Jonathan sludy
- 47:16Speaker 1: glasses Bailey, get out your titties. What did I pay
- 47:25Speaker 1: fucking full price for this movie for instead of going
- 47:28Speaker 1: to five dollars Tuesday like I normally do, if you're
- 47:31Speaker 1: not getting out your titties. And then like and then
- 47:34Speaker 1: I'm doing my own bit in my head because I'm
- 47:37Speaker 1: cracking myself up and I'm like, they made Robert Irwin
- 47:40Speaker 1: get his titties out on Dancing with the Stars for votes.
- 47:44Speaker 1: They didn't pay you enough to get out your titties.
- 47:46Speaker 1: Get out your titties, Get out your titties. I feel
- 47:50Speaker 1: like I feel like they paid them enough. They did.
- 47:53Speaker 1: I feel like I feel like they didn't want to
- 47:56Speaker 1: maybe upset people who were bringing their eight year olds.
- 47:59Speaker 1: And that's why I'm all the time at American capitalism. Yeah,
- 48:02Speaker 1: because when I grew up in the nineties, if your
- 48:07Speaker 1: mom wanted to see whoever was the equivalent of Jonathan
- 48:11Speaker 1: Bailey in the nineties, but Patrick Swayzey is the perfect,
- 48:19Speaker 1: the perfect example. And this is why if your mom
- 48:23Speaker 1: wanted to see Patrick Sweezy's titties in Dirty dancing. She
- 48:27Speaker 1: just plopped you right next to her and we were
- 48:28Speaker 1: going to watch this guy dance, and then didn't explain
- 48:32Speaker 1: to you what Penny's abortion was. Like, Penny has a
- 48:35Speaker 1: tummy ache. She has a tummy ache, and baby's dad
- 48:41Speaker 1: is mad at her because she broke perfew and that's
- 48:45Speaker 1: why everyone's upset. She has the stomach flue. So your
- 48:49Speaker 1: mom just sat next to you and you got to
- 48:51Speaker 1: see Patrick the Swayze's titties too. And I lived that
- 48:54Speaker 1: existence and I turned out by I understand that we
- 48:59Speaker 1: had to make the movie Peenie. I mean because we
- 49:03Speaker 1: had to sell Barbie dolls of Glinda and Alhama and
- 49:06Speaker 1: all of it. But it's not a PG movie, it's
- 49:08Speaker 1: not PG content. And I deserved more than Jonathan Bailey
- 49:14Speaker 1: basically pulling a blanket up to his neck and that
- 49:20Speaker 1: after the bed scene. And I've laid in that bed,
- 49:23Speaker 1: and you know what I said in that bed, I
- 49:24Speaker 1: wish I had seen Jonathan Bailey's titties in this bed.
- 49:28Speaker 1: Maybe he's saving it for Bridgardton. One could only ho
- 49:33Speaker 1: he's so he is the reason I watched Bridgerton. Yeah,
- 49:37Speaker 1: well listen, At the risk of sounding like I'm supporting
- 49:41Speaker 1: misogyny in this anti misogyny podcast. A lot of those
- 49:45Speaker 1: men are the reason why I watched Verginial. It's literally
- 49:48Speaker 1: just Jonathan Bailey for me because he's really good. Because
- 49:51Speaker 1: you know, for his entire season of Bridgerton, I thought
- 49:55Speaker 1: that they were gonna get into some weird, kinky shit
- 49:57Speaker 1: and I was like, someone's getting choked in the good
- 50:00Speaker 1: way because that when John yea, he seems like the
- 50:04Speaker 1: type to do that. Yeah, yeah, yeah. He strung me
- 50:07Speaker 1: along that entire second season, and I was like, someone's
- 50:10Speaker 1: getting stepped on in a way that they like and
- 50:12Speaker 1: I can't wait. And then someone who's actually read the
- 50:14Speaker 1: Bridgerton books was like, neadly, there's no kink in Bridgerton.
- 50:17Speaker 1: I gotta wak enough. And I was like, then, what
- 50:20Speaker 1: is the fucking point of the show in hiring him?
- 50:24Speaker 1: I think also to Bridgerton is like the least spiciest,
- 50:29Speaker 1: like it tries to be spicy and then you're like
- 50:32Speaker 1: and then you read it and you're like, it's okay, no,
- 50:35Speaker 1: because let me tell you something about Bridgerton, Like Shonda
- 50:38Speaker 1: Ryan's pumped that spice in like she had to manufacture
- 50:41Speaker 1: that The spiciness of Bridgerton begins and ends at a
- 50:46Speaker 1: guy who goes down on the lady. The end. That's
- 50:49Speaker 1: always the spiciest climax of it. And that's when that
- 50:52Speaker 1: woman is like, I'll throw away my entire life for this.
- 50:55Speaker 1: The guy in a field, in a bedroom, up against
- 50:58Speaker 1: a wall, in a carriage goes down on the lady.
- 51:01Speaker 1: I mean it's spicy. Listen if the head is good.
- 51:05Speaker 1: It's not. Everybody's good at that. But is it spicy? No? No, anything?
- 51:12Speaker 1: That's the bare minimum. Yeah, the bare minimum, Shanda and
- 51:16Speaker 1: I get it. There's not a lot in the But
- 51:18Speaker 1: I was like Jonathan Bailey going to choke somebody or
- 51:21Speaker 1: be choked in the good way, and I cannot wait.
- 51:25Speaker 1: And then it didn't happen, and I was mad. Is
- 51:27Speaker 1: there fan fiction that has hi? Could someone? Hi? Everyone? Hello?
- 51:34Speaker 1: I know hello, Team Tolerator. I've been hearing this phrase
- 51:39Speaker 1: AO three be bounced around when it comes to the
- 51:43Speaker 1: heated rivalry. Wait, did you not know about AO three before? No?
- 51:48Speaker 1: I don't fan fit. Okay, that's a fanfic site, right,
- 51:52Speaker 1: I've at least used context clues to determine Because they
- 51:55Speaker 1: keep talking about Shane being pregnant with Ilia's child, and
- 52:01Speaker 1: I'm like, oh, that's some weird fan fiction. If anyone
- 52:07Speaker 1: on AO three is like, hey, I got you girl,
- 52:09Speaker 1: I paid someone to render me some character art of
- 52:13Speaker 1: Fierro and his titties. Please send them my way. But
- 52:18Speaker 1: I just not AI generated, not right. I paid someone.
- 52:23Speaker 1: I said that I paid someone to I know, but
- 52:25Speaker 1: that doesn't mean whoever you paid you know what I mean? Like,
- 52:27Speaker 1: we want an artist here, an artist. I want an
- 52:30Speaker 1: arts gonna plug in keywords into fucking chat gput to
- 52:34Speaker 1: generate art that's not art. So anyways, that's that's why
- 52:39Speaker 1: I got a four star for me, because I was like,
- 52:41Speaker 1: I'm not horny enough during this part, and it's all
- 52:46Speaker 1: because of capitalism. I don't know if that's a fair
- 52:49Speaker 1: reason to give it a four instead of a three.
- 52:52Speaker 1: You can't give it a four point five on I
- 52:54Speaker 1: would have given I would have only knocked it down
- 52:56Speaker 1: a little bit, but you can't on letterbox. And was
- 52:59Speaker 1: I one hundred percent satisfied? No? I was not. Okay, fair,
- 53:05Speaker 1: No I was not. That's the whole point of Letterbox is, like,
- 53:08Speaker 1: cause I I very rarely if I hated something like,
- 53:12Speaker 1: last night, I watched a really dumb scary movie on
- 53:15Speaker 1: Hulu and I was terrible and it was really dumb. Now,
- 53:18Speaker 1: am I gonna run to my letterbox to give that
- 53:20Speaker 1: independent film a one star rating? No? No, I'm just
- 53:24Speaker 1: gonna let it live on Hulu and it's no longer
- 53:27Speaker 1: any of my business. Yeah. Now, should someone go, did
- 53:31Speaker 1: you see that silly little movie on Hulu that was dumb?
- 53:34Speaker 1: I'd go, Yeah, it was pretty dumb. It and the
- 53:39Speaker 1: only thing that kept me going is that Adelaide Caine
- 53:43Speaker 1: is so pretty. I thought, sho tits. No, she's just
- 53:47Speaker 1: so pretty. Oh, I love that. Yeah, so I just
- 53:52Speaker 1: kept watching. Yeah. So basically, I feel like Linda lived
- 53:56Speaker 1: up to White Lady. She really did. I I love
- 54:01Speaker 1: the ending of Wicked the movie. I love that they
- 54:05Speaker 1: still got to love one another. I think that's important. Yeah.
- 54:09Speaker 1: A trap door. That's give me a trap door and
- 54:12Speaker 1: a story anytime. Yeah. When they when he said that,
- 54:15Speaker 1: he's like, oh, there's lots of hiding places and like
- 54:17Speaker 1: tunnels and ship it is like, oh, she's not dying,
- 54:20Speaker 1: thank on. And that's how the musical ends. To the
- 54:23Speaker 1: musical ends with Scarecrow going that that that, and then
- 54:27Speaker 1: like Alpha Ba pops out on the floor and he goes,
- 54:30Speaker 1: let's get out of here, and then they skid at
- 54:32Speaker 1: all off stage and that, and then we go back
- 54:35Speaker 1: to probably m hmm, what's the what's the opening? No
- 54:41Speaker 1: One Mourns A Wicked reprise? We do another reprise of
- 54:43Speaker 1: No One Mourns Wicked, and then the musical is over.
- 54:46Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure I I love this like little theory
- 54:53Speaker 1: that the book opens and then Glinda realizes that Alphaba
- 54:57Speaker 1: and Piero have survived and they're happy after all, and
- 55:00Speaker 1: all of that, I do believe that in these trying
- 55:03Speaker 1: times and in my year of dangerous whimsy, part of
- 55:07Speaker 1: my whimsy has to be not allowing fascism to destroy
- 55:13Speaker 1: my faith and my love in the people that I love.
- 55:16Speaker 1: And I think that Alpha Ba isn't getting enough props
- 55:21Speaker 1: for that being at the core of her character. I
- 55:24Speaker 1: think a lot of people are like, this is Ariana's movie,
- 55:27Speaker 1: and in a lot of ways it is, Yeah, but
- 55:29Speaker 1: it's really Alpha this movie. It's really it's really Alphaba's
- 55:34Speaker 1: fucking musical. I don't know if you know, if it did,
- 55:36Speaker 1: you not know, which is again maybe also a huge
- 55:40Speaker 1: part of the problem with the whole Glinda story because
- 55:43Speaker 1: everyone's like, look at the shiny blonde girl, right, and
- 55:46Speaker 1: like for the first movie, I was I was team like, Oh,
- 55:50Speaker 1: this is gonna be Ariana's franchise. She really put in
- 55:53Speaker 1: the fucking work and she wanted to be Alphaba and
- 55:56Speaker 1: then John m chwo went your pink through and through. Yeah,
- 56:00Speaker 1: she auditioned for Alphabet the first go. I didn't know that, yeah,
- 56:03Speaker 1: or maybe you told me the last time we talked
- 56:05Speaker 1: about it, and I forgot. I know a lot. I
- 56:07Speaker 1: listen every time John m cho speaks, and it's a sickness.
- 56:11Speaker 1: I'm surprised you listen to a man only John m
- 56:15Speaker 1: chew and Connor and Hudson from the you know, I'm
- 56:19Speaker 1: watching Team Vogue every day and Connor just being like Hudson.
- 56:23Speaker 1: They're they're saying, I have a dump truck ass on
- 56:26Speaker 1: Twitter again and then Hudson making dead eye contact at
- 56:29Speaker 1: the camera and being like, dump truck. It's a mac
- 56:32Speaker 1: truck And I wish it would have slammed on my
- 56:35Speaker 1: face over and over and over again because he's like,
- 56:38Speaker 1: I see you're feral. I'm feral. Yeah. Yeah, And I
- 56:42Speaker 1: loved him, I love him, and then Connor cries. Connor's like, guys,
- 56:50Speaker 1: look what you've done to my bread? And really that's
- 56:55Speaker 1: an alphabe and Glinda's story all in its own. It
- 56:58Speaker 1: really is that he didn't rivalry boys who I hope
- 57:01Speaker 1: I run into one day. Think of all the people
- 57:03Speaker 1: I've run into this past year, twenty twenty six is
- 57:07Speaker 1: my ear of running into Shane h and Ilia, Hudson,
- 57:11Speaker 1: and Connor. I have no business running into them, but
- 57:14Speaker 1: for some reason, weird chick keeps happening to me. I
- 57:17Speaker 1: just I feel like I understand the fanfic for Shane
- 57:21Speaker 1: and Ilia, but like, can we maybe have just some
- 57:24Speaker 1: Hudson and Connor fanfic? No, because that's weird because they're
- 57:29Speaker 1: real people and we're not supposed to be making assumptions
- 57:32Speaker 1: about their personality or not their personality, about their sexuality
- 57:35Speaker 1: because we traumatize that kid off of Heart Stopper, and
- 57:38Speaker 1: it's I'm not making assumptions. If it's fanfic, it's just
- 57:43Speaker 1: for fun. You can't make fanfic about real people. I
- 57:46Speaker 1: don't think people who I don't know rite fanfic way in.
- 57:50Speaker 1: I don't think that's how it works. Okay, a fan
- 57:54Speaker 1: theory that turns into fan tho because because here's the thing,
- 57:58Speaker 1: Because here's the thing. This is why you can't do
- 58:01Speaker 1: it to real people. Think about all of the women
- 58:04Speaker 1: sitting at home right now, worried that AI is about
- 58:08Speaker 1: to make porn of them. Yeah, that's true, okay, And
- 58:12Speaker 1: that's why and and Hudson and Hudson and Connor look
- 58:15Speaker 1: at me. That's why I'm your mommy. Do you see
- 58:18Speaker 1: what I did there? I just called off all the
- 58:20Speaker 1: perverts and I was like, leave my boys alone, like mommy, Yeah,
- 58:24Speaker 1: like mommy, I'm your mommy. I can't wait to be
- 58:28Speaker 1: their mommy in person. I'm your mommy. They'll love me them,
- 58:33Speaker 1: Dolly Parton, all the people I want to meet in
- 58:35Speaker 1: twenty twenty six are gonna love me. I What was
- 58:39Speaker 1: I going on before I had to lecture you on
- 58:41Speaker 1: pan fit? Oh? Okay, I'm actually going to because I've
- 58:49Speaker 1: kind of stopped doing lessons and manifestations because I'm like,
- 58:52Speaker 1: my guests are smart enough. Why am I just repeating
- 58:55Speaker 1: what they say? But I will say that my lesson
- 58:57Speaker 1: from Wicked for Good and from Alphabet and from Cynthia
- 59:00Speaker 1: herself Brad is that I refuse to let fascism for
- 59:13Speaker 1: one more day make me so tired that I no
- 59:17Speaker 1: longer have empathy for the people who I love and
- 59:19Speaker 1: adore just because they can't be perfect. Because if Alphaba
- 59:23Speaker 1: can look over so much white feminism from Glinda and
- 59:27Speaker 1: still be like she was the only person who was
- 59:29Speaker 1: there for me at the end of it all, and
- 59:31Speaker 1: then that means something. Yeah, And I think we're in
- 59:35Speaker 1: a really dangerous internet culture right now, where the reason
- 59:39Speaker 1: why fascism is having such an easy, care free time
- 59:44Speaker 1: is because we are holding up people to like undeniably
- 59:49Speaker 1: high standards. Well, I think the Internet doesn't allow for nuance.
- 59:54Speaker 1: It doesn't allow for nuance. I think that's what's going
- 59:56Speaker 1: on with my threesome movie. I think that that's what's
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: going on. Multiple things can be true at once. We
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: know this, we know this, we know this. You know
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: there are things that should I become more famous or
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: an Emmy winner, people can probably dredge up on the
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: Internet and be like, guess when Nalie acted like a
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: teen in the Millennial and said all of the bad
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: things that the Millennial team said. And I did, and
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: I did, I did, And you can buy them and
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: you can find out all the ways that I tried
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: to get men to like me that made me a
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: woman who was fighting against women. And the point is that,
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: like Golinda, I have been changed for good now, Julia,
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: that was a great line for me. Good for me.
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: I have been changed for Julia. What's your lessening, your manifestation,
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: my lesson for twenty twenty six or Glinda or life
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: in general. Julia is a woman of color who has
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: a lot of white women friends, and she does have
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: to like shoulder a lot of our bullshit, not very
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: much from me. I'm just gonna say it. I'm gonna
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: give myself props in case you started thinking stupid things
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: about me. But I gotta say, Julia, I'm meant to
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: do an entire episode of like, well this is how
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: you do it? Yeah, because like my whole thing is
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: is like, yes, I still live in this community where
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: everyone is more white than not, and that's hard, and like,
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: in some degrees, it is a choice because you know,
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: I could have moved been other degrees. It's like moving
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: isn't actually that easy. It isn't. There are economics involved
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: that polluted me. But I think for me, with watching
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: it for good and then just sort of what I'm
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: focusing on for myself in twenty twenty six is really protecting.
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: And this is gonna sound shitty because like a lot
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: of people do this, but then they harm others in
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: that it's just sort of protecting my peace. So like
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: before it was just a whole lot of like smile
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: and nodding kind of shit, and now it's just gonna
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: be like, oh, that's interesting that you felt like you
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: could say that out loud, right, Like that's the approach
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: when you started taking Oh that's interesting that you felt
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: like you could say that out loud. I like to go,
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: I like to do what my two year old Deppet
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: does it go wow. And I think because a lot
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: of you know, because now because now there's a whole
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: you don't have to be afraid, you don't have to
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: be embarrassed that you're white anymore kind of bullshit going around.
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: It's like no one was asking you to be embarrassed
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: to be white. We just wanted acknowledgment that there was
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: privileges that don't benefit anybody. But that's all we want, right, Like,
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: we just want an equitable and fair world and we're
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: asking for it, and then you're mad because it turns
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: out you're not good enough to fit into that equity.
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: And we keep proving time and time again. And I
- 1:03:16Speaker 1: think I think this incoming awards season is going to
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: really highlight that with you know a lot of the
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: things that is going to happen, with Sinners likely not
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: winning the awards that it deserves. Don't already chee me
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: up to be disappointed about Sinners. I'm really sorry. I'm
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: I didn't watch the Critics Choice Award because knew Timothy
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: Shalame was gonna win even though it deserved to be.
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: And I've never not watched the Critic Choice Awards, so
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: it's like, I can't emotionally handle it watching Timothy Shallo
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: may win over Michael B. Jordan. There's no way I'm
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: gonna let that. I can't. I watch the reactions, but
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: I'm not watching it in lifetime. I cannot set up
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: my twenty twenty six with that kind of disappointment. I
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: think the little boy that plays the music in Centers,
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: he's not a little boy. I know, he's a man.
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: He's a man, you know, he he's a little I'm
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: also hey, yeah, yeah, which is great, which is amazing,
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: But the performances that we got out of Michael B. Jordan,
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: he played two very different characters and you could tell
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: you were never confused with one, never confused once. And
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: so I'm always pissed about Orphan Black because none of
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: you watched Orphan Black and realized that Tatiana Maslani played
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: eighteen different characters in an episode and each one had
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: different facial expressions, mannerisms. And that is the level of
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: talent that I have not seen since her until I
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: went and sat in Centers and I went, that's this
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: is how you do it. Yeah. So unless I'm in
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: like extreme grave danger, I'm my I'm protecting my piece
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: and you know, going to be more open to calling
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: out what it is. What's your manifestation because I'd like
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: for all the gle Inda's to like job a little quicker.
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: And I think that was my manifestation when we first
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: fucking sat down for Wicked one and I was like, Hey,
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: wouldn't it be something of white women cut up? And
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: I think it's put the money where the mouth is, right,
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: Like if you were a nice, polite white lady who
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: has a liberal belief system. But you're married to somebody
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: who you know keeps voting against what's good for women
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: and people of color. You're actually part of the problem
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: full stop. So like, and I used to not believe that.
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: I used to be like, well, you know, family whatever,
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: blah blah. But now I'm like, actually, no, you are
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: continuing the problem because now what I'm seeing is you're
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: still perpetuating their world, not your world. You're not affecting
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: change in your relationships with your husband's belief system. You're
- 1:05:59Speaker 1: upholding the and while posting on Instagram, free Palestine, trans
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: writes matter, Black lives matter. But then your husband is like,
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: we're a Trump family. No bye, but bye divorce that man,
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: I mean that's a you know, divorce is hot. I
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: don't know. I don't know. I've never been divorced, I've
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: ever been married. I know how hard, But I do
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: know that there are economics on why you're probably staying
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: with that person. But like, be brave, be uncomfortable, Like
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: I the amount of times I've had women be like
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: I just don't know how you were a single mom.
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: It's so hard. I'm like, yeah, bitch, I figured it out,
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: and my kid turned out fine, fucking figure it out.
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: I mean that sounds like I don't have empathy. I do,
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: but if one more person praises me because I didn't.
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: You are a single mom, and that's so scary and
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: I can't believe you did it. I can never imagine
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: doing it. Fuck off, you're married to the enemy. Figure
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: it out. Yeah, that's where that's where I'm gonna call us. Yeah,
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: that's where I'm gonna call it. I think, Yeah, what
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: do I have to say to fit? Like, you've all
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: heard me be irritated about that for an entire Yeah,
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: the entire in the entirety of the show. Well, Julian,
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: thank you for rehashing your Glinda trauma with me. I
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: was delightfully surprised when I was like, are we doing
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: a Glinda follow up episode? And you went, of course,
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: why not, let's do it. Okay, make sure everyone knows
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: where to get their heated rivalry book Club Candle. Do

- 1:09:23Speaker 1: and that's fucking awful. Why that was my idea, I
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: don't know. We do have a blog post up. We
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: have two blog posts up actually about my trip to

- 1:09:49Speaker 1: job in January of announcing this gets a friendship bracelet.

- 1:09:58Speaker 1: in April, you get a friendship bracelet. I love that.

- 1:10:20Speaker 1: you don't have to smile through anything you're tolerating, including
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: a friend who exhausts you about all of the things
- 1:10:27Speaker 1: that she does not know about. It being a hard
- 1:10:30Speaker 1: knock life smiles her for joy,
