- 0:05Welcome to The Hypnotist, the show that gives you inside
- 0:09access to cutting edge hypnosis with real clients facing
- 0:12genuine. Issues.
- 0:13Brought to you by The Hypnotherapist, demanded by
- 0:16celebrities, CEOs and even royalty, Adam Cox.
- 0:20These recordings took place live from Evans Clinic in London's
- 0:24world famous Harley Street. So get yourself comfortable and
- 0:31enjoy today's episode of The Hypnotist.
- 0:39Are you terrified of mice or rats or other rodents?
- 0:44It's Adam here. And if you couldn't relate to
- 0:46that feeling of fear, dread or anxiety at the idea of a rodent,
- 0:51I think you're going to get some value from this session because
- 0:54I was working with a. Client that.
- 0:56Lived in an apartment. But they just.
- 0:58Bought a new house and in their mind apartments are safe because
- 1:02they don't have rodents and houses have rodents.
- 1:06Now, intellectually we know that's not true.
- 1:09There are some apartments that have mice, and there are some
- 1:12many houses that don't have mice.
- 1:13I live in a house, it doesn't have any mouse, many mice.
- 1:17So it's certainly possible that that isn't true, but if you
- 1:20believe that, then it can cause a lot of anxiety.
- 1:25Also, generally homes that are older are more likely to have
- 1:29rodents than new builds, and then we're moving into a new
- 1:32build, so the actual probability of mice being in a new build
- 1:36house where no one's ever lived there before is actually very
- 1:39low. But that's not.
- 1:41The point? The anxiety was real, and what
- 1:44they felt is that if they were to imagine opening a cupboard or
- 1:48going into their laundry room and there would be a mouse or a
- 1:51rat there, that would freak them out.
- 1:52But they were getting freaked out just thinking about that,
- 1:55even though they'd never actually lived in that house
- 1:57yet. So this does a lot of future
- 2:00pacing, accessing a resource state.
- 2:03And one of the key things that can make people feel resourceful
- 2:06is not this delusion that there's never, ever going to be
- 2:09a problem, but that if there is a problem situation, they can
- 2:13resolve it easily. And in this particular case, it
- 2:16was the idea that they could remove a rodent from their house
- 2:20if they needed to. So part of the session before
- 2:23the hypnosis, we were looking at humane mouse and, and rat traps,
- 2:28the kind of ones that they've got like a little mechanism that
- 2:31they're going to get the food and then it it locks them inside
- 2:34safely and then they can be transported.
- 2:36And they knew that if that happened, so long as the anxiety
- 2:40was low enough, they could actually take it to a park far
- 2:44enough away from their house that it wouldn't return.
- 2:46So this gets the idea that mice and rats is kind of a low
- 2:52probability, but it's also a low stakes situation.
- 2:55And it's specifically for this client imagining that they can
- 2:58feel safe in a new home. But if you have a fear of mice
- 3:03or rats or any rodents, it's one of the animal phobias up there
- 3:08with insects and spiders that I've done more with clients than
- 3:12any. They're the top three spiders,
- 3:14insects and rodents, and then probably birds.
- 3:18I would say that's probably the fourth.
- 3:20I've helped hundreds of people with severe phobias, so if you
- 3:23have a phobia of an animal and you don't want it anymore, I
- 3:27would encourage you to check out the link in the description.
- 3:30Book a consultation call, we'll have a chat.
- 3:32And normally it takes me 3 sessions And the fear is so low
- 3:38that life is just manageable without it.
- 3:41So if you have a fear of something and you don't want it
- 3:44anymore, just know that you don't have to keep it, it can be
- 3:47changed. Relatively.
- 3:49Quickly. So bear that in mind.
- 3:51But if you do have a fear of mice, this could be a useful
- 3:54session for you, and I would encourage you to find a quiet,
- 3:58comfortable place, the kind of lace that you're not going to be
- 4:00distracted or disturbed. To relax and.
- 4:03Enjoy the session. Take a deep breath in, and as
- 4:32you breathe in, breathe in that resourceful feeling of calm and
- 4:38relaxation. And as you exhale, feel a
- 4:44wonderful feeling of release, as if tension, stress and worry are
- 4:51melting away and leaving your body in your outward breath.
- 4:59And I want you to think of a colour that would represent
- 5:03resourceful relaxation. And as you breathe in, imagine
- 5:09breathing in that colour of resourcefulness, that feeling
- 5:14that you have the capability to handle any demand.
- 5:22You don't need help and you don't need to run away, but you
- 5:29have the resources to handle whatever life throws your way.
- 5:38Breathing that resourcefulness. And then imagine exhaling any
- 5:43insecurities, fears and doubts. Imagine them leaving your body
- 5:49like a shadow, breathing in that bright color of resourcefulness
- 5:55and and exhaling those shadows of insecurities, fears, worries
- 6:03and doubts. Almost like you're cleansing
- 6:08your emotions, giving your body those wonderful resources, and
- 6:16exhaling anything that would fuel your imagination to think
- 6:24things that aren't even true. Some people think of fear as an
- 6:32acronym FEAR False evidence that Appears real.
- 6:42And some people feel real emotion and then assume that if
- 6:47the emotion is real, then the threat or the danger must be
- 6:54real. But you know that's not true.
- 7:00A child can imagine a monster under their bed and have real
- 7:04fear even though the monster doesn't exist.
- 7:11Someone could imagine a mouse in a house that doesn't exist, but
- 7:20the thought, the thought of it being in a cupboard or a laundry
- 7:26room might be enough for the brain to think what if?
- 7:35The recipe for worry and fear is what if something bad happens?
- 7:43But the recipe for confidence and reassurance is what if I can
- 7:50handle any situation I need to. Because positive thinking isn't
- 7:59the absence of problems, it's the resources to resolve a
- 8:05problem when it appears. I want you to imagine.
- 8:13Imagine a movie where there's someone that looks exactly like
- 8:18you, you at your most confident, you at your most resourceful.
- 8:30And I want you to imagine that version of you in a new home, a
- 8:38new home even before you've moved in.
- 8:43And I want you to imagine that version of you has bought a
- 8:47selection of humane mouse and rat traps.
- 8:55I want you to see that version of you putting food at the end,
- 9:02setting the traps and putting them at different locations in
- 9:06this new home before anyone else even lives there.
- 9:14And I want you to see that that version of you is happy with
- 9:20whatever happens, because if these humane traps capture a
- 9:27mouse, then you get to remove the mouse even before moving in.
- 9:38But if there's a house with no food and there are mice living
- 9:43there, then the food. In the traps is the.
- 9:46Only food that exists. And therefore if these humane
- 9:53traps don't capture a single mouse, it stands to reason that
- 10:01there are no mice living in that house.
- 10:07So you either remove a mouse or get the evidence that there are
- 10:13none. Either way is a win.
- 10:20I want you to imagine on that same screen returning
- 10:26confidently, resourcefully, pragmatically.
- 10:32And I want you to be checking your traps and just imagine that
- 10:38one of the traps has caught one. That version of you is not
- 10:46anxious or scared. See that version of you
- 10:50confidently placing the trap perhaps in a bucket, and then
- 10:56taking the bucket to the park, releasing the trap and the
- 11:03animal out there in nature, but far enough away from your home
- 11:09so it can't return? And I want you to see the sense
- 11:14of pride accomplishment on that version of you.
- 11:21Because that version of you is now thinking of mice in the same
- 11:28way that you might think of clearing up vomit or removing a
- 11:33spider. Pragmatic and capable that you
- 11:42are able to resolve an unwanted situation, but without needing
- 11:48anxiety to do it. And I want you to imagine how
- 11:54difficult it would be to feel any anxiety on the 11th time
- 12:01that you take a mouse to the park to let it go.
- 12:07Maybe there was a tiny bit on the first or second, but each
- 12:12time it got less and less and less until now it's just
- 12:20something that doesn't bother you anymore.
- 12:26I want you to imagine a month after moving into that new home,
- 12:34you still keep the humane traps there, but you're checking them
- 12:39less and less. Perhaps one day they're just
- 12:45taking up space and they don't capture anything anyway, so you
- 12:50just put them away in an old cupboard, a box in the attic
- 12:59there if you ever need them. But I want you to imagine one
- 13:06day, imagine seeing yourself like you're someone else opening
- 13:12a cupboard and seeing a mouse is there.
- 13:18And I want you to see that version of you isn't shocked or
- 13:21scared. It just makes a thought.
- 13:29Let me get those humane mouse traps and put it in this
- 13:33location. Imagine that version of you
- 13:37returning to that same cupboard or location two or three.
- 13:42Days. Later and seeing a mouse inside
- 13:46and imagine that version of you takes it down to the park and
- 13:51releases it. And now rewind then and imagine
- 13:58it happening from a first person perspective.
- 14:02Imagining open a door, seeing a mouse and feeling the same way
- 14:10that you would feel if a child vomited and you knew how to
- 14:17clear it up. Or a little spider was in a room
- 14:22and you didn't want it to be there.
- 14:27I want you to feel how you would feel if there is a desire to
- 14:31resolve the situation. Imagine laying the trap in the
- 14:37same location, returning, opening the door.
- 14:44And then just imagine that there is a mouse in a humane trap or
- 14:50maybe a rat in a bigger trap. And I want you to feel a sense
- 14:56of empowerment, resourcefulness, as you imagine taking it
- 15:01somewhere to release it far enough away that it doesn't
- 15:06return in a way that makes you feel empowered.
- 15:15Just because you don't fear them doesn't mean they are welcome in
- 15:19your home. I want you to get a sense that
- 15:25when you think about houses and homes, you make the assumption
- 15:31that all houses and homes are mouse and rat free unless there
- 15:37is irrefutable evidence that they are there.
- 15:43Either you see them, there's droppings, or you capture one.
- 15:50But if consistently there are no clues, it will reaffirm your
- 15:56belief that your home is mouse and rat free.
- 16:02And just imagine feeling safe, feeling comfortable, feeling
- 16:07relaxed in that new home, and knowing with absolute certainty
- 16:17that if in the future there was a mouse or a rat, you would know
- 16:22exactly how to capture it and how to remove it and not need
- 16:28anyone else's help to do it. If you're unconscious can
- 16:33imagine that capturing and removing a mouse or a rat and
- 16:40feeling confident and anxiety free while you do it.
- 16:45Consider this a seed planted in your subconscious mind as that
- 16:51belief will become stronger and stronger.
- 16:55And if you ever think of a mouse in your proximity, shrink it
- 17:01down to a dot and replace it with a scenario view with all of
- 17:08the resources and capabilities to capture and remove it.
- 17:17If your unconscious agrees, let me know by nodding your head.
- 17:23That's it. I want you to imagine a year has
- 17:27passed now in this new home, you feel safe, confident, relaxed,
- 17:33knowing that there are no mice or rats there.
- 17:39But if in the unlikely event that there ever were, your
- 17:44capabilities can resolve the situation quickly and stress and
- 17:50anxiety free. With that in mind, it's time to
- 17:55float back to the here and the now, taking all of these new
- 18:00beliefs and thoughts with you. And the more you think in this
- 18:05way, the truer it becomes. And the truer it becomes, the
- 18:09less anxiety you feel and more confident, resourceful and
- 18:14pragmatic you will feel. So take a deep breath in through
- 18:18your nose and out through your nose.
- 18:23Just wiggle your fingers, wiggle your toes, connect and calibrate
- 18:28into the here and the now as I now count from 1:00 to 10:00 to
- 18:37awaken you. Starting to count 123, waking up
- 18:45456, more alert. 7-8. Open your eyes.
- 18:50Open your eyes 910 Wide awake, Wide awake.
