- 0:32Welcome to the Spin, Tyler, John and the one and only Mr. Bill
- 0:37Grunler. Drinking a coffee right there.
- 0:39I always drink coffee. Even at 4:30 in the afternoon,
- 0:43dude. There's no time not to drink
- 0:45coffee. You guys went home at work?
- 0:46Well, Tyler. Had a drink, I was drinking, I
- 0:48was drinking coffee. When we do the the broadcast and
- 0:50stuff, we'd be back at the the house, whatever and let's get
- 0:53some coffee going. Anybody.
- 0:55Yeah, we. Were at a burger place.
- 0:56OK. We were at a burger place after
- 0:59crash and he was like can I get a coffee?
- 1:02And I was like, it's like 830, yeah.
- 1:05Hey man, I'm not afraid. That caffeine thing does.
- 1:08That caffeine thing doesn't affect me, I don't believe.
- 1:10Comp weekend's a little bit different.
- 1:12We're going to start off with a little bit different original
- 1:16plan. We're going to throw the the
- 1:192026 risks at the end. But Mr. Bill Grundler.
- 1:23I appreciate. You I have some risks and I
- 1:25don't want to stay until that late.
- 1:27So no, I've got classic coach, that's all.
- 1:29Yeah. Exactly.
- 1:32And so you're actually an affiliate owner, so you can
- 1:35actually add some real value to US versus US just kind of
- 1:38talking we. Provide 0 value already.
- 1:44Talking in a vacuum. But anyway, I, we, I made a
- 1:48comment or asked a question earlier this week asking
- 1:53affiliate owners what are the biggest risks you will face in
- 1:582026 as a CrossFit affiliate owner?
- 2:03And I got, I got a good number of answers and yeah, it was
- 2:13there. It is kind of fell into 5
- 2:16buckets, 5. Buckets of death, as you will.
- 2:20Of the business, yeah. Rising costs, potential sale,
- 2:25new ownership, lack of communication from HQ.
- 2:31A sport focus and one thing I was not anticipating.
- 2:35GLP ones. Mr. Hiller right there.
- 2:39Skinny Hiller. All real pictures right there.
- 2:42Yeah, exactly. I guess first question for you,
- 2:47Bill, were you taking, were you surprised by any of these or
- 2:51were they kind of just expected like, Oh yeah, that's kind of
- 2:54what I was thinking. I think a lot of them were this,
- 3:00I think when people say the risks and the, the, the, the
- 3:04list that people gave are the the buckets that you put them in
- 3:06for the most part. Buckets of death.
- 3:08The five buckets of death, they are complaints that people have
- 3:14had all the time, like I don't. I don't think that they're
- 3:17really new necessarily. I will agree with the fact that
- 3:22rising costs is something that as a gym owner, like I, I have
- 3:30to think about that all the time.
- 3:31Like there is as a CrossFit affiliate owner, your gym
- 3:38membership was always more expensive than the 24 Hour
- 3:41Fitness down the road. You know, they had their $19.00
- 3:45locked in for life. Whatever thing or $15 or even if
- 3:48it's $45.00, whatever, like it, it sounds so much lower than
- 3:55$150.00 a 190 dollars, $200. And not that I don't think that
- 4:02a CrossFit affiliate is worth that.
- 4:04I do think it's worth that for. And I, and I'm not even talking
- 4:08about for the equipment, I'm talking about for the actual
- 4:09coaching that you get out of it and you have someone actually
- 4:13coaching you. But it gets difficult to get
- 4:20people to understand what they're getting for that value.
- 4:24You know, like if you are, if you are doing a one-on-one
- 4:27training with someone, even in a, even in a crappy Globo gym,
- 4:30you're going to be paying 4550 sixty, $7080 for that session
- 4:35one time. The hour.
- 4:38Right, but for the hour, if you look at what a CrossFit, a a
- 4:44good CrossFit affiliate, I mean, I'm not going to say that every
- 4:46CrossFit affiliate is great because they aren't just like
- 4:48every gym isn't great, just like every doctor isn't great.
- 4:51But if you have a good affiliate and you have a, you have good
- 4:53coaches in your affiliate, you're going to get, you're
- 4:56going to get training that will equal what that ends up being.
- 4:59So if you figure the amount of time you're looking at the
- 5:02program that you're getting, you're looking at the rah rah
- 5:04that you're getting, you're looking at the, the coaching
- 5:06cues that you're getting. You're looking at the
- 5:08modifications that you're getting specific to you and your
- 5:11issues that day that injuries, the pregnancy, the I'm tired,
- 5:15the I have a race coming up. Whatever The thing is, the, the
- 5:19amount of value that you get out of that I think is worth it.
- 5:22But you have to somehow make that known to people because
- 5:26$200 sounds like a lot of money next to $45.
- 5:31And I think what, what a lot of affiliate owners don't want to
- 5:37do. And I think a lot, I think a lot
- 5:38of them shy away from a lot of the things that that you're
- 5:41supposed to embrace, which is let me teach you why this is
- 5:44important. What about it's the value per
- 5:47dollar, right? If you, if you do a personal
- 5:50training coach and it's like, I don't know, $9 per hour or
- 5:53whatever it is, like, yeah, you're seeing them, but you're
- 5:56going to, you're going to cap it at like maybe 2 a week.
- 5:59And then you, you get to the end of the month and it's like, OK,
- 6:02you only came in twice a week for a month.
- 6:04You paid an exorbitant amount and then you know you screwed it
- 6:08up the rest of the time and they don't really, really know you as
- 6:11an athlete, right? Versus, OK, let's go on the high
- 6:15end of $200 a month. Like that coach knows you.
- 6:19All the coaches there know you. Sorry, I just wanted to
- 6:23interject. No, no, I agree.
- 6:24So I, I think that that will always be something cuz I know
- 6:26like with myself when I first started paying.
- 6:29So San Luis Obispo in our county is, that's where the college is.
- 6:34If you look at the way the county is, this is where the
- 6:36expensive stuff in the county is.
- 6:38If I went to the north part of the county, the South part of
- 6:40the county, my rent would be almost half of what I'm paying
- 6:43right now. When we started, we had a 1000
- 6:46square foot spot and I think we paid, I think we paid $1800 for
- 6:52it a month. Then we moved to a almost 3000
- 6:57square foot spot and we were paying 2500 and then the spot
- 7:03that we're in now. And granted it increases every
- 7:06single year because that's what the rent does.
- 7:07And this is what's really hard. Everyone who pays their monthly
- 7:11fee, whatever that is, they're like, why does it keep going up?
- 7:15Well, because my rent still keeps going up.
- 7:17You know, like shit still costs money And like, if, if you know,
- 7:22I it's going to come out of some bucket, right, more buckets of
- 7:26death and I, I can't have it be where it's coming out of my
- 7:29bucket because if I can't do it or the gym can't do it, then the
- 7:32doors don't come open. So.
- 7:35You got to buy that nice car too.
- 7:39There are very few gym owners that have really nice cars
- 7:41unless that's the only. Unless they live in the really
- 7:43nice. Car, that's what they have.
- 7:45You know, that's that's what they paid.
- 7:46But, but like right now, like I pay $7500 a month for a 5000
- 7:50square foot spot monthly. Yeah, you know, and, and so then
- 7:55all of a sudden you're like, OK, let me reverse engineer that.
- 7:58OK, well, how many members do I need to make it to where I can
- 8:01pay for the place? I can pay for the utilities, I
- 8:03can pay for the coaches, I can pay for whatever.
- 8:06I don't think that's the biggest issue though.
- 8:07I don't I I personally wouldn't say that.
- 8:09That's the biggest issue really. Yeah.
- 8:11Well, I mean, I will stick on the cost side of things, but I
- 8:13think the revenue side, I was talking about this with my wife
- 8:18this weekend. Like I don't think they're the
- 8:22cost of a membership has gone up in proportion to what you just
- 8:26said, Bill. I don't think so either.
- 8:28Like 10-15 years ago the gyms, the high end gyms were 150 in in
- 8:35Nashville. Now they're like 200 generally
- 8:39like 180 for unlimited around most places.
- 8:42Like that is not a big increase. And you just talked about, I'm
- 8:45sure, yes, you have more square footage, but per square foot
- 8:49it's gone up way more than absolutely, you know.
- 8:52But that's what I mean, because like if 150, OK, I can in my
- 8:57mind as a member, as a client, OK, I can kind of wrap my head
- 9:01around that $200, OK, there better be a reason why I'm
- 9:05paying that. The reason can't be, well, our
- 9:07rent went up. Like that's not a reason.
- 9:10There's got to be a perceived value of that, right?
- 9:12If your spouse goes, your kid goes.
- 9:14Next thing you know, you're dropping five $600 a month on a
- 9:18on the memberships. I think this is what I think the
- 9:21biggest risk is for 2026 actually, I would say it's it's
- 9:24been happening, but it will, I think it will continue is
- 9:30coaches, not the person that owns the gym, not the person
- 9:35that like I love CrossFit and I want to be here because that's
- 9:38great. You'll have your two people,
- 9:40they can do all the stuff. But guess what?
- 9:42There's a lot of classes that need to be coached and at some
- 9:45point did someone get shot? Yeah, Dang, Abby's Dang, she's.
- 9:48Training. We had a shoot, huh?
- 9:50So so we have crash mats that block her in like her little
- 9:55area. She's busted out.
- 9:57And that's exactly what that was.
- 10:00She's getting where she can like stand and and like, press on
- 10:04things and she's learning how to knock that crash path down.
- 10:09That's that's what just happened.
- 10:12But to get someone to want to be a coach like the the people that
- 10:16are really good coaches, they coach because they love to
- 10:19coach. They're not there for the money,
- 10:21like if they can, if they don't have another job, like that's
- 10:24what that they love to do that you know, like even like, you
- 10:27know, John does his coaching thing.
- 10:28He's got his, he's got his personal clients, he's got his
- 10:30JY barbell stuff. Those are the supplements for
- 10:34him being at the gym because you can't like it's really hard for
- 10:37someone to be a just a gym trainer and I coach classes at
- 10:43the gym and think you're going to be having a full time, at
- 10:47least in my area, a full time like salary off that.
- 10:51Yeah, I I would have another job if it was just the gym, right?
- 10:55I'd have to have another job. You'd have to and so now that
- 10:59becomes like it. It's, it's hard to make it
- 11:01lucrative enough to get coaches to want to come in and do it.
- 11:05I can get people to cover classes cool like every once in
- 11:07awhile but like. That has not gone up in
- 11:13proportion either. I don't know.
- 11:15So like with what? Do what do people get paid
- 11:17$15.20 dollars, maybe $25? Yeah, like they were doing that.
- 11:21They were doing that back in 2010.
- 11:22Man, right. The way the square footage and
- 11:24stuff has gone up like a dollar per square foot, it it'd be like
- 11:28$50.00 an hour to make it worth it, right?
- 11:33For for you to just be like, I'm just a CrossFit coach, Yeah.
- 11:37Yeah, So, you know, I, I'm always looking for coaches
- 11:41around here. But what you end up having to do
- 11:47is you have to you, you are hoping that there's someone that
- 11:50really loves CrossFit. And I just love the gym and I
- 11:54want to be there and I want to help people too.
- 11:56And I want to because it will, it will literally have to be a
- 11:59labor of love. It has to be because you can't
- 12:02pay them enough to do it. And then all of a sudden, just
- 12:04like John said, there's going to be the other job that will be
- 12:07priority. It's like, hey, I need you to
- 12:09coach on this. Yeah, I can't do that shit.
- 12:12OK, I guess I'm going because I'm doing the 5:30 AM class.
- 12:14OK, All right, got it. You know, And that's I think
- 12:17that will be that is I think that is the hardest thing
- 12:21getting I think. It's gotten worse over the
- 12:23years, yeah. Or harder over the years.
- 12:25Yeah. And I think it has because what
- 12:28I saw earlier kind of getting into this, into this stage where
- 12:31we are is people wanted to coach.
- 12:34So what did they do? They started coaching at all the
- 12:36gyms. And I don't mean all the
- 12:38CrossFit gyms. They went to all the gyms.
- 12:40Yeah, pool boy coaches at F-45. Exactly.
- 12:44Exactly. Yeah, they pay them more.
- 12:46Trader. Probably they do probably, but I
- 12:50mean and then like then I have a hard time with that because it's
- 12:53like I want. You to be our thing.
- 12:56Yeah, man, like I, I am huge when it comes to loyalty.
- 12:59I I wouldn't be surprised too, just I.
- 13:01Wouldn't be surprised if pool boys like yeah I train at
- 13:04CrossFit, whatever, like. I mean.
- 13:08Maybe. Maybe coaching, maybe.
- 13:10Who knows. I doubt it, but maybe.
- 13:12I'm with you, Bill, though. Like, like I have gotten offers
- 13:17to go to, to coach at other gyms just just from people who like
- 13:21the sport and stuff and they know I'm in the area and I'm
- 13:24like, I got my people. Like these are my people, you
- 13:27know, like I don't, I don't, I wouldn't like it either.
- 13:31And I don't even own an affiliate, at least like just me
- 13:33and principal. I wouldn't.
- 13:35I wouldn't like it. Yeah, I think, I think that that
- 13:38is that will be the thing that is the hardest because what you
- 13:44need that person to be able to do, you can't pay them enough to
- 13:48be able to do it. You gotta, they, they have to
- 13:51have the knowledge, OK, if you, if you want to have good coaches
- 13:56in your gym, I'll say this, if you, you want them to have the
- 13:58knowledge and, and the understanding of what it is that
- 14:00they're doing and they care about.
- 14:01I mean, it's customer service base first.
- 14:03You want them to have a great time, You want them to enjoy
- 14:05their time. You want them to want to come
- 14:06back. You want them to feel like
- 14:07they're, you know, improving and, and that this is mattering,
- 14:12that they're putting this money out, that they're getting their
- 14:14thing for that. But then underneath that high
- 14:17fives and everyone having a good time, how can I make sure that
- 14:20they're getting the most out of it?
- 14:22Where the F40 fives, the orange theories, the boot camps, they
- 14:27don't care about how you're moving.
- 14:29It's. The they don't run.
- 14:30They don't care. Everyone's getting high fives
- 14:32now. That's fine, because if you're
- 14:34not doing anything, you come out and you start working out, Sure,
- 14:37you're going to look great. You will look better than you
- 14:39did no matter what the workout is.
- 14:42But you, you know, you want the coach to, yeah, let's have a
- 14:46good time. Let me give you a little
- 14:47breadcrumb of something cool here.
- 14:48Like, I love when I can, like, someone's doing something.
- 14:53You can give one little cue and all of a sudden that whole
- 14:55movement changes and they're like, damn, that was awesome.
- 14:59No one ever said that before. Or the first the first bar
- 15:03muscle UPS, always amazing. Yeah.
- 15:05I mean, all of those big things are huge and you're not going to
- 15:08have that in those other places because they don't push that.
- 15:10Those are the places and I, I will go toe to toe with anyone
- 15:15that says, you know, if they were going to do CrossFit again,
- 15:18they should take all the Olympic lifting barbells stuff out.
- 15:21They should take all the high skilled gymnastic out.
- 15:24And the next question would be why?
- 15:27And their reason would be because people don't want to do
- 15:30it. It's too hard for them.
- 15:31They're afraid that they're going to have a bad experience
- 15:34that they do that, which that's not the case though.
- 15:37All of those things are so that you can set the bar just above
- 15:42the out the reach of whatever athlete you're that you're
- 15:45talking about. It may be ring muscle UPS on the
- 15:48board that day. And it's really funny cuz I know
- 15:50there are a lot of cross the gyms that do not program or ring
- 15:52muscle UPS unless they are the competitive place.
- 15:55But you have ring muscle UPS, you have banded ring muscle UPS.
- 15:58You have transitions from the ground, You have bar muscle UPS.
- 16:01You can do, you can do banded or jumpy bar muscles.
- 16:03You can do, you know, pull ups and then and then dips.
- 16:06You get, there are so many things you can do.
- 16:09They give the, you know, the gymnastic pulling part for that
- 16:12person at their level. Just set a range of what they
- 16:15can do. That's how you get people
- 16:17better. Because otherwise they'll be in
- 16:19it for three months, they'll plateau, they'll get bored,
- 16:21nothing will change and then they're out.
- 16:23And we don't want that. The way we stop that plateau as
- 16:26we push that bar up. That's why all of those things
- 16:29are important. Plus there's a lot of
- 16:32neurological changes that you get and, you know, having older
- 16:35people feeling like they're back on the playground again and, and
- 16:38feeling young again and the explosive power that you get
- 16:42with the Olympic lifts. I mean, why do they do those in
- 16:45sports? Because of explosive power.
- 16:49And you will use it. You will the.
- 16:52In ways you don't you don't think about, but like the way
- 16:55you move in a snatch, like it could be the difference in
- 17:00picking up your child. I know that's people wanted like
- 17:02a dead lift for that, but to like pick them up and throw and
- 17:06like throw them up. That is kind of a snatch if
- 17:08we're if we're going fast enough.
- 17:10My do I have I have Abbott. McGrady knows what a snatch is,
- 17:13Bill, is all I'm trying to say. Hell yes.
- 17:15And she should and she should. My, my, my all time favorite
- 17:19story that I have with my oldest daughter when she was like, I
- 17:23think she was like 5-6 years old, she was doing gymnastics
- 17:27and she had to go over and get some pad to bring over.
- 17:32And it's this like weird, long, kind of thin look, kind of like
- 17:37a trapezoid kind of shape. And she couldn't quite grab it
- 17:40to pick it up to figure out how to do it, but she could get her
- 17:43arms on either side of it. And this was by far.
- 17:47And I, I was, and this was probably 22,009 2010 maybe right
- 17:54around there. Like early she grabbed that
- 17:58thing, couldn't figure out how to get it.
- 18:00And then without anyone saying anything or her having any idea
- 18:04on what the hell a snatch looks like, she goes hook and whipped
- 18:07it up over her head and walked it over to the teacher and put
- 18:11it down. And I stood up like the they
- 18:13have this little parent platform area.
- 18:16I stood up and I'm like, yes, yes, did you see that?
- 18:20That was a snatch right there. No, no, no.
- 18:23You don't know what that is, No. I'm not talking about, no, I'm
- 18:25not, not you, ma'am, sit down. I'm not talking about you, not
- 18:28you. It was, it was an innate thing,
- 18:31and that's one of the things that Greg always talked about,
- 18:33where the movements that we do are built into your
- 18:37functionality. She didn't know how to do that,
- 18:40but her body kicked right into core to extremity movement with
- 18:44power to get that thing over her head.
- 18:45It was fucking fantastic. One of the one of the things
- 18:50that like that you're hitting on about the coaches that I've
- 18:53always thought about is we have, I think we have an increasing
- 18:56problem selling level twos, level threes in the level 4 that
- 19:01may or may not exist. No one knows is like if you
- 19:05can't get paid to be a coach like you kind of just like,
- 19:08well, why would I want to continue my progression unless
- 19:11it's like the labor of love thing or I really just want to
- 19:14know all of this stuff. Like the easiest way to sell
- 19:17those is like, well, all the level 2 coaches are getting paid
- 19:2175 K. All the Level 3 coaches are
- 19:23getting paid 125 K, you know what I mean?
- 19:26And then it's like, OK, I'm going to level up, of course.
- 19:28And. That would be the only reason to
- 19:29do that. Right.
- 19:30And so like that's been the one of the number one issues, one of
- 19:34the number one, one of the top issues that I thought CrossFit
- 19:38should have spent a lot of time solving over the past few years
- 19:40is like how do we rate? Like how do we create a
- 19:44situation, an environment in which coaches are paid more and
- 19:48stay around longer? I, I just, I just don't think
- 19:51that even if you, there's no way to, for lack of a better word,
- 19:57enforce that. No, you can't, because it's it.
- 20:00It ends up being only if the gym decides to recognize you as
- 20:05that. And give you the, the, the
- 20:07amount of money for that. You know what I mean?
- 20:10Like that's the only way to make that happen.
- 20:12And that's completely internal. Other than that, it's all what
- 20:15do you want to be? And I'll tell you what, man,
- 20:18I've seen, I've seen level 1 coaches that are great coaches.
- 20:24I've seen Level 3 coaches that are not great coaches.
- 20:27They know the book stuff, they know all the information and the
- 20:31reason most of the time, if they're not a good coach at
- 20:34level and I'm not, this is not, this is not a shot on the levels
- 20:36at all. I, I the Level 3 is an amazing
- 20:39course and, and, and the ones that that have to study to get
- 20:42to that stuff, they get a lot of information.
- 20:44It's knowledge. It's knowledge, but it's not
- 20:47it's. It isn't always.
- 20:49Practice. Applied knowledge.
- 20:51And that's the problem when you get someone that has a lot of
- 20:53information and they want to show you how good they are, you
- 20:57end up getting just verbal diarrhea, right?
- 20:59All over them to talk about, you know, femur lengths and angles
- 21:03and, you know, insertion points and this particular muscle and
- 21:06that particular muscle. And the person's like where,
- 21:09where's the bathroom again? Because like, I'm not here for
- 21:13anatomy Physiology class, you know, I just want to, I want to
- 21:16get a sweat on. I want to lose some weight, man.
- 21:17Like can you help me out? So it's having all of that
- 21:20knowledge and then and then truncating it down to laser
- 21:24focus so that this person gets because they want these things
- 21:27and that person gets because they want these things.
- 21:29And that's going back to kind of what you were talking about,
- 21:31John, is like you knowing your people to where you can give
- 21:36them what they want, the product that they want.
- 21:38Here's the here's the the workout of the day.
- 21:41Here's the the, the seven course meal, the meal of the day.
- 21:47You're going to get this one 'cause you're gluten intolerant.
- 21:49You're going to get this one 'cause you don't like milk, and
- 21:51you're going to get this one 'cause you like protein.
- 21:53Only you're so like, everyone's getting their version of that.
- 21:55But it takes the coach that has all this knowledge to be able to
- 22:00do that. Well, now when you have someone
- 22:02that can do that, yeah, I think that the value that, that, that
- 22:05that client is getting is well worth what they're paying.
- 22:09But you have to have like to get that person like that's, it's
- 22:12hard. Like right now, like I'm, I'm
- 22:15praying that I could find someone to cover some classes.
- 22:18Like that's where I am and I, I can put it out.
- 22:21I can put it to the university, I can put and I cannot get any.
- 22:25It's hard, way harder than it seems.
- 22:27Yeah. I have a question.
- 22:28I have a question. Go ahead, Tyler.
- 22:29I'll never forget how I found CrossFit Maximus.
- 22:33I was training at, at UK in their rec center.
- 22:36And I'll never forget the poster.
- 22:38It was like this Superman that was a trainer basically.
- 22:44And it was like calling all, you know, coaches out there, we
- 22:47want, you know, internship at CrossFit Maximus.
- 22:50And it was like I went, I went through the, through the, the
- 22:55kinesiology school there at UK and I took down all the posters
- 23:00because I didn't want anybody else to apply to that.
- 23:04That's amazing. You got Superman into it, dude.
- 23:07Look at. You that's.
- 23:08So awesome. So I, I'm curious, Bill, do you
- 23:13think the ultimate I, I, I'm curious if you think a cheaper
- 23:18option, but also more expensive at the same tunnel name.
- 23:23Like you'll understand what I'm saying here in a minute, but.
- 23:25I'm waiting because so far I don't, right?
- 23:28Now, because you said it's not enough for the coaches to be
- 23:31interested. So if I think if it's $50.00 an
- 23:34hour and people are back to where they were in 2014 where
- 23:38$25.00 an hour, you could, you could, you could do that.
- 23:41Like you could be by yourself and make a living just fine.
- 23:47It would have to raise up to that.
- 23:49Do you think the ultimate cheaper option would be to be on
- 23:53a, a salary, but a smaller salary?
- 23:57Because like at, at my gym, I'm coaching 25 to $30 a week.
- 24:00We've talked about this every week, right on top of the
- 24:04one-on-one stuff like the times that I'm at the gym is probably
- 24:08closer to 40 to 50 and like just me at the gym, but not like
- 24:13actually coaching, right? But I I end up coaching just by
- 24:18being there because you're the main right, you're the head
- 24:22coach, right And then, but I'm on I'm on salary, right?
- 24:26And it's, it's, it doesn't for the owners.
- 24:31It would be cheaper to have the hourly person, but I like
- 24:37anytime there's holidays, anytime there's anybody that
- 24:40takes it like I take all that like it's, it's there is no,
- 24:43they don't have the issue that you have, but it it comes, but
- 24:48it comes at a premium of that salary.
- 24:50Does that make sense? Yeah, No, no, I, I hear you.
- 24:53I, I, I've played with that too. I've had I've had coaches on
- 24:57salary. But I'm I'm asking, do you think
- 24:59that's that's not that doesn't work in the long run or or it
- 25:04could work when the right situation.
- 25:06I'm I'm just. I, I, I would say that I would
- 25:10say in all, in all reality, any situation can work.
- 25:15It totally depends. Like that's what's kind of great
- 25:17about CrossFit and Philly gyms is the situation.
- 25:20The variables are so different that you could make something
- 25:24totally work in one gym that there is has no no chance in
- 25:27another gym. I got you.
- 25:29I do think that a salaried position can work.
- 25:36What I've seen with many people that get into salaried positions
- 25:40is they will get used a lot more and that person starts talking
- 25:45about the burnout game and I have a really hard time with
- 25:48that conversation and it's it's coming from.
- 25:51I I I hear you. I, I and I, for all of those
- 25:55coaches out there that say that they want to be a coach and that
- 26:00they are a coach and they're like, you know, after three
- 26:03classes, I just. It's more patience than you
- 26:05think, yeah. Yeah, but I'm I'm so, I'm so
- 26:08emotionally and I'm just drained.
- 26:10I'm so drained. That's.
- 26:10Because you're in California, Bill.
- 26:12Yeah, yeah, yeah, no. No, no, no.
- 26:15You know what it is, I it's not that.
- 26:17What it is is I come from a like my parents are both teachers and
- 26:22teachers teach classes all day. 8 hours a day. 8 hours a day
- 26:27with kids, with high school kids, with junior high kids,
- 26:29whatever. And if you are a teacher slash
- 26:33coach type of a person, you like doing that stuff like I, I, I
- 26:39would, I would get into these discussions with people that
- 26:40I've had in the past and they're like, it's just, you know, it's
- 26:42just so hard. After three classes, I'm just
- 26:44I'm so drained and I'm like drained by what?
- 26:47Oh, we get to listen to good music.
- 26:49You're high fiving, you're whoo yeah, isn't this going on over
- 26:51here? And so and so you hear drama of
- 26:53this happening over here and these things you're talking
- 26:56about these all the things that are going on here.
- 26:57You get to help this person out that day.
- 26:59And this person got their first pull up that they've ever got in
- 27:02their whole life and everything is great and high 5 and, you
- 27:04know, fist bumping all over the place.
- 27:06And then you get to do it all over again.
- 27:07Like what? What was hard?
- 27:09You're getting paid for it, yeah.
- 27:12You get, you're getting paid to hang out with people.
- 27:14It's it's I just, I don't, I don't, you know, put it on me.
- 27:19I don't understand it because I don't have that.
- 27:23That's not that's not built into me.
- 27:24Like I'm, I'm a coach, I'm a teacher.
- 27:26I've always been that guy, even when I was in fire, like that
- 27:29was what I do. So I enjoy doing that.
- 27:32So it's not hard for me to do it.
- 27:34A lot of people that gets that get put on salary.
- 27:37Kind of like with you, John, it's like holidays.
- 27:39You're taking it all the things, the days off, you're take it,
- 27:41you're in there, you're in there.
- 27:43People want the job because they see the money and then all of a
- 27:47sudden they get burned out in the and then all of a sudden
- 27:49what they are it what they start giving is less and less and less
- 27:52and less and less. Not you, but people that like
- 27:55are not like this is what I do. I love to do this.
- 27:59What do you think the percentage is on that?
- 28:00Because you, you, I, you are obvious have experience with it.
- 28:05All I know is me. Right, right, right.
- 28:07Yeah. I bet, I bet it's 20% of people
- 28:10who want to be coaches are actually people who should be
- 28:13coaches. I'm just, I wonder what that
- 28:19burnout rate is because I don't resonate with that.
- 28:24I, I, I would say, I would say, I think it's, that's not a bad
- 28:31number. That's not a bad number.
- 28:33Maybe, maybe a little bit higher.
- 28:37That's based on Bill's criteria. Like if you're going to coach
- 28:43all day long because it is a rare person that wants to do
- 28:46that and it doesn't make you a bad person.
- 28:49If you just want to coach two classes a day just means that
- 28:51you're not built like you're not a lifetime coach, you're not a
- 28:56full time coach and that's OK. Yeah, I I think that the
- 29:00difficulty with salary is you're going to get paid regardless of
- 29:05what your output is in the short term.
- 29:08Right. And that's.
- 29:09Paul, I'm getting paid so then you I'm not, I'm not getting
- 29:11anything. I'm not getting their their
- 29:13mindset is I'm not getting anything incremental for staying
- 29:16till 6:00 at night instead of leaving at 4.
- 29:20I'm just going to go through the motions this last hour because
- 29:23I'm tired. And I'm at the gym, so that
- 29:25you're paying me to be at the gym.
- 29:26Yeah. You know, I I'm man, unless you
- 29:29have some really specific this, this was always hard because I
- 29:35like what what do you actually expecting?
- 29:39Well, I expect you to, you know, give to the client and push them
- 29:42and help them to do. And it's like, yeah, all that
- 29:44sounds great. And then go what?
- 29:45I I felt like I was, it's like, all right, well, they're all
- 29:49they're all fluff words, you know, I mean, like, it has to be
- 29:51very specific. And it's not that I wouldn't say
- 29:56that I am over, over giving or, or giving more than what I'm
- 30:04supposed to give. I'm giving what I give because
- 30:07this is what I do. And like, that's like that's
- 30:10kind of the difference. And, and I mean, I think I think
- 30:12people will find out right away, you know, who coaches should be
- 30:15and who coaches shouldn't be. I know that with a lot of, with
- 30:19a lot of smaller gyms, especially smaller CrossFit
- 30:21gyms, it ends up being that the owner, because they love it.
- 30:26They're there, they got their other job and they're doing this
- 30:29too. And it can, it can like that can
- 30:33burn you out. Not the fact that it's coaching,
- 30:35but just you're running from one thing to AM to PM like non-stop.
- 30:41And, and you know, sometimes, like I coach most of the classes
- 30:45here and like over Christmas and New Year's and stuff like that,
- 30:48they're like, Hey, so are we going to be open the day after
- 30:50whatever. And I go, no, yeah, but I'm off
- 30:53work that day. And I go, yeah, I want to be off
- 30:56work too, you know. So I mean, like there are days
- 30:58like that where it's like, look, this isn't, I'm not trying to
- 31:02shorten up, you know, your, your, the, the value of your, of
- 31:07your membership here. But this is the holiday.
- 31:10And if you want me to be able to give you the good stuff, like, I
- 31:14mean, we have our, our app, like there's workouts on there every
- 31:17day that you can do workouts at home and once without equipment.
- 31:22And hey, you're all on there. It's just, I'm not going to be
- 31:25there today. Like it'll be all right, you'll
- 31:27be fine, you know. But I, I think, I think that it
- 31:30is hard. And Brian that that was, I think
- 31:33that that's right. People will work.
- 31:36Generally speaking, it's not everybody, but people will work
- 31:40to the minimum that they need to.
- 31:43And if you put people on salary, that is what that's where they
- 31:46will go. Well if you do that then get the
- 31:49fuck out because I don't want. You to dim Seth, he has one of
- 31:53us affiliate these days. Try finding people on the North
- 31:56Shore of Oahu to coach right. I've heard it's even harder to
- 32:00find people on Lahaina but. Bill, do do you find it?
- 32:05Do you find it hard to coach after, after we go do our thing?
- 32:11Because every single competition and like my, my, my people, my
- 32:17one-on-one state, they know that it's, it's coming.
- 32:20Like I have about one or two days where I'm just really down
- 32:27and, and I and I don't know why. I'm just like after Syndicate,
- 32:31after Norcal, 'cause I'm just wired 24/7 there and I'm, you
- 32:38know, we're commentating, but I'm also doing math the whole
- 32:41time. Like I'm doing, I'm doing like,
- 32:44like, I mean, you, you know this, Phil, you know this like,
- 32:47like, like. You're writing down splits.
- 32:49You are. You're writing down splits.
- 32:50You are. You're writing stuff down.
- 32:51But. I'm figuring out this means
- 32:52this, this means that this means that like, everybody's been
- 32:56asking me questions and I have to have the answers to them.
- 32:59Sometimes it's too. Early.
- 33:00It's just, I'm just so wired and I've got no problem being wired
- 33:05none. But the second I get home, it
- 33:08shuts, it shuts down and I still have to coach right?
- 33:11And there's like one or two days where I'm like, all right, warm
- 33:16up and then I'm fine and then I'm fine.
- 33:23But I those one or two days, man, it, it's it, it hits me.
- 33:28I, I'll say that like I'm, I'm actually pretty good when it
- 33:33comes to that. Like when I'm away, you know,
- 33:36the, the gym is doing what the gym does.
- 33:38It's doing its thing and I can slot right back in because it's
- 33:41just, it's just my comfort spot, man.
- 33:44It's, it's easy. And because I'm, I, I don't
- 33:48think that I'm like ha ha ho, like up and down, up and down
- 33:51like that. Like I, I have my, I have my
- 33:54demeanor, I have my, my tempo that I, that I'll coach at and I
- 34:00just kind of hop right in and, and actually like for me, like
- 34:03I'll start, you know, talking to everyone right away about like,
- 34:07you know, what was happening this week or who did this or,
- 34:09you know, looking on PR, the PR board to see if everyone did.
- 34:12And I like, I just kind of slot right back in like I, I guess my
- 34:16aunts would be like, no, I've never had an issue with that
- 34:17like. There, you're way more even
- 34:19keeled than I am, I feel. Like 100% there, 100% there
- 34:24dude. Less math on the weekends.
- 34:25I don't do any math. I just, you know, I, I just do
- 34:28the alphabet. I would say the main difference
- 34:31being with you 2 like in a broadcast situation, John, like
- 34:34your commentating style is, is a lot more emotional than Bill's.
- 34:37Bill's is like he, but you're like that the entire
- 34:40competition. You are just straight down the
- 34:42middle of the whole time, but I. Like to think that it's up a
- 34:45little bit. I don't want to see that.
- 34:47Yeah, no, I'm. Keeping everything on it even
- 34:51keel cuz I think I get excited but I do I can be this right
- 34:54here and I got all kinds of energy and this is great and
- 34:57this to me right now is even keel I'm I'm great, but y'all
- 35:00was like wow that. Right.
- 35:02That's what I'm talking about. No, no, no, no.
- 35:04No. Yeah.
- 35:07No, he's younger than I am. You know, he's a little bit,
- 35:10he's a little bit more emotional than that.
- 35:11I'm just I'm I'm the old, I have the group.
- 35:15I'm very stoic. I.
- 35:16I think that's why it works. I agree.
- 35:18I agree with that. Dude this this comment if you
- 35:21only knew that's that's not near enough like.
- 35:26Like oh, I just need this right here.
- 35:28This is all I need and I'm good. On A on a broadcast, 2C fours is
- 35:33done by 10 AM. Yes, yes.
- 35:38You guys go through more of that.
- 35:39Stuff like that to me is like, how are your hearts not beating
- 35:42out of your chest? Dude, I thought I was going to.
- 35:44I drank 60 fours one day. I, I I.
- 35:47Was like. And it was like 8:00, it was 8,
- 35:50it was 8:00 PM. And I'm like, I don't need this.
- 35:54But Stephon wanted to do a podcast and I know those are
- 35:57going to go for three hours, right?
- 35:59And Taylor's there and I, I can't, I don't want to be, I
- 36:01need to be up with that. Cause yeah, I won't have the
- 36:04patience for it if I'm not, if I'm not ready, right?
- 36:09And I'm like, I'm just going to do it.
- 36:11F it. I don't care.
- 36:12And then, and then, and then I just drink that one at 8:00 PM
- 36:14and then I'll still just sleep like a rock at 10:30 and then
- 36:18just go on another day. There you go.
- 36:21See. Go right in.
- 36:24So I think getting to the risks, when you think about, I think a
- 36:30lot of these had an undertone of HQ.
- 36:36Yeah, it. Needs to save me.
- 36:38Yeah, yeah, it always does. And I this might be that.
- 36:42I'm a old school affiliate. Oh, hold on.
- 36:46I might be that too. I might be that too.
- 36:49I mean, I'm not going to lie. We found out that we're number
- 36:5169, oldest gym in the world. That's so cool.
- 36:54That's it. Is really cool.
- 36:56I had no idea when we first affiliated the the mantra was,
- 37:03OK, cool, here's your affiliate, you have your level 1 go and do
- 37:07great things. Cool.
- 37:11OK, all right, I guess we're off here.
- 37:12We go and we go and do our thing.
- 37:14And so everyone would do their version of CrossFit.
- 37:17They would they would have their memberships, they would do have
- 37:20their, their, their communities, they would have their own
- 37:23version of the culture. You know, however, they did it
- 37:26within their box with the only thing that we wanted from them
- 37:31was like, hey, man, and, and this and we didn't really know
- 37:34much about it, but it was like, hey, just protect us.
- 37:37Let everyone else know that we're the shit and they're not
- 37:40like that's all we wanted. I didn't need a tool kit.
- 37:43I didn't need to have all of these other things.
- 37:45Not going to say that everyone that hopped in as an affiliate
- 37:47owner, myself included, knew a damn thing about business.
- 37:51I didn't know anything about business.
- 37:53Nothing at all. Like, thank God I was running.
- 37:56I was a fire captain and I had that it was me, my engineer and
- 38:00my firefighter that we started the gym and thank God we all had
- 38:04money already because if we didn't, we're like business
- 38:07plan. What the hell is a business
- 38:08plan? I don't I don't know.
- 38:12Let's go put out a fire. OK, cool.
- 38:13Sounds great. That's a great place to work
- 38:15out. That was how it that's how it
- 38:16was. So I can see having things like
- 38:19that to help. But I all of the, all of the
- 38:22complaining and this is going on for years.
- 38:24This isn't anything new. HQ should do this for us.
- 38:28HQ should do that for us. And it's like, why?
- 38:31Why should they do that for you? Unless you want to be part of an
- 38:34affiliate model or I mean a franchise model.
- 38:37What do you want them to do? And all the stuff about needing
- 38:42to know about who is buying and who is selling and who is doing.
- 38:48I mean, unless it really comes down to what it's gonna do with
- 38:51inside your four walls, what does it really matter?
- 38:54It really doesn't matter that much.
- 38:57I mean, unless all of a sudden they're gonna be like the stuff
- 39:00you, you know, about the increase of the increase of the,
- 39:03the affiliate fees, like to $10,000 or something like that.
- 39:08It's like, OK, all right, now I understand that like things go
- 39:12up, but why? Just because you think you can
- 39:16the ID, the ID bill, yeah, rent that Internet rent totally.
- 39:21The idea of a like a like an app, OK, I don't see how you
- 39:28think that that's going to push people into the affiliates.
- 39:31All right, so. Especially when there's already
- 39:34Ajy Barbell app that people can sign on to for $25.
- 39:38I mean, there you go. 14 day free trial.
- 39:40There you there you have it. So like we're.
- 39:43Sell outs. What happened to us?
- 39:45It's. My own thing.
- 39:47What are you talking about? Like.
- 39:49Hey, that's a that's a shameless plug.
- 39:51That's OK. It's all right.
- 39:51It's good to have. My affiliate link is down below,
- 39:55just click on that. I, I just think that a lot of
- 40:01people that are, that have affiliates that they, they, I
- 40:07mean, she's, this is where we are anywhere, just in society.
- 40:09Anyways, you're expecting someone to come and save you.
- 40:12And The thing is that that's not the job.
- 40:14That's not the job. And yes, that is Baywatch right
- 40:16there. That's right.
- 40:17Yeah, that and fire right there. So there you go at that.
- 40:21I I, I think that those complaints from affiliate owners
- 40:28is just a thing to complain about because your members don't
- 40:30care. They don't know.
- 40:33They don't care who is thinking about buying unless you're the
- 40:37one that makes a big deal about like, you know, what if CrossFit
- 40:40buys or if this person buys and we're going to have to do and I
- 40:43don't know what's going to happen.
- 40:45They want to know what your culture is, what's the culture
- 40:47in your gym in in your CrossFit affiliate.
- 40:51People here know when they when it's funny because the people
- 40:53will say our members, yeah, I'm going to CrossFit today.
- 40:59Well, you're coming to the Inferno today.
- 41:01It's not CrossFit, it's CrossFit Inferno.
- 41:04Crossfit's that like is that way.
- 41:06California is like, that's where CrossFit is.
- 41:08You know, we are CrossFit. But just so you know, yeah.
- 41:12Pet peeve is when people say I'm going to CrossFit, it always got
- 41:15under my skin because I'm like, no, you're going to CrossFit
- 41:18Maximus, right? CrossFit Inferno.
- 41:20I I agree it's a little thing but it always drove me nuts.
- 41:23No, I and and I agree with you. Personally, I agree with you.
- 41:26But what I'm saying is like for the general population, they
- 41:30don't know what HQ is doing. Do you think that's do you think
- 41:34that's changed over the last 10-15 years?
- 41:38That they don't know what's going on with HQ.
- 41:40Not, not with an HQ, but like, the more I think about it, and
- 41:44as I actually wrote this article and I got down to like the GLP
- 41:48ones, Ozempic and stuff. If Ozempic was out 10-15 years
- 41:55ago, HQ would be the megaphone of saying that these are not
- 41:59what you need to be on. Here's why, here's what you
- 42:02should be doing instead. And it'll just be the drum of
- 42:06that over and over and over. And Greg would have been like
- 42:09going crazy. The Who were the Russells?
- 42:14Yeah, they would have been posting stuff left and right.
- 42:17It would have been on dot com and everybody back then, or at
- 42:21least a large percentage of people that found CrossFit drank
- 42:25all of the Kool-aid, all of the content that was coming from
- 42:27that megaphone. I mean, drank all the Kool-aid,
- 42:31period. Now we don't have that.
- 42:33There is no megaphone, no. Kool-aid.
- 42:35And so, yeah, it is all directly what you were putting out in
- 42:40Inferno and what, you know, all these different small gyms are.
- 42:43And I, I think that's what if, if owners need anything, it's to
- 42:49have that megaphone again of fighting for A cause and
- 42:53protecting CrossFit in the affiliates.
- 42:56I want to restate what you said just in a little different way,
- 42:59because the, the way I kind of think about it is like
- 43:01chiropractic. If you go into a chiropractor,
- 43:03you'll find out like, oh, my knee hurts.
- 43:05It's not actually your knee. It's your quad or it's your IT
- 43:08band or whatever it is. It's always a, it's the
- 43:12reference point is not actually where it's happening.
- 43:14It's somewhere upstream. And so when I, when I see like,
- 43:17well, we need support from HQ for this and need we need this,
- 43:21It's like, no, if you had 300 members, you wouldn't say any of
- 43:25that because you'd have more money and you knew what to do
- 43:27with and you'd solve the problems on your own.
- 43:29And so it goes back to what you're saying spin of like,
- 43:32they're actually just mad that people aren't showing up as
- 43:35easily as they think they should.
- 43:37Now as part of that on the gyms, because you got to do your own
- 43:41work to get people in your gym. But with what spin saying is
- 43:45they need the megaphone that that's crop of the jobs.
- 43:48HQ has protection, the megaphone's the other one.
- 43:52Get asses in gyms. OK, but but I.
- 43:54Would argue that that is not the gym's complaints though, that
- 43:57they're they're not doing the megaphone.
- 43:59They're like help me. No, that's, well, that's what
- 44:02I'm saying. They're not, but they they're
- 44:05mistaken about where the pain is actually coming.
- 44:07From OK, OK, I, I I I see. I, I think that for the gyms
- 44:13that are asking HQ for help, the the fix to that is the, IT is on
- 44:18the gym to get members in their gym.
- 44:22It's not on CrossFit HQ to get members in my gym.
- 44:26In fact, when they were doing that thing and they were having
- 44:28that weird, oh, we have a client that's interested in your gym,
- 44:31they asked us. Not one of those people ever
- 44:35came back around. Not one.
- 44:37And I think I had, I think I was talking to Jr. about this.
- 44:39I think we had each had like, I don't know, four or five leads
- 44:43that came from CrossFit HQ and none of them panned out.
- 44:50It's on me to get people in here.
- 44:52I mean, that's I, I am an independent business and every
- 44:57CrossFit gym is an independent business.
- 44:59We are not franchises. If we were franchises, then
- 45:03yeah, every single commercial that they kick out, which they
- 45:05don't do enough commercials to out to people.
- 45:08Annie, if it was that, then we would have people coming in
- 45:14expecting be like, OK, so this CrossFit gym is like that one,
- 45:17like that one, like that one. That's when you know, like when
- 45:19John goes to whatever McDonald's he's going to go to, that all
- 45:22the Mcnuggets are going to taste the same because that's what a
- 45:25franchise is, right? But if you go to 1.
- 45:29They do all taste the same. Right on purpose, on purpose,
- 45:33but I, I think that I think that the gyms have to take ownership
- 45:41of the people that they get. And part of that is it's on me.
- 45:45Like I love the fact that people think that CrossFit is dangerous
- 45:49and I will love to have the conversation with anyone that
- 45:51feels that way. Let me explain why and where the
- 45:55where the where it's incorrect. Let me tell you what's up with
- 45:58it. Let me show you.
- 45:59Oh, you're afraid to come here. Just come in.
- 46:01I'll make sure that you're going to have a, you're going to have
- 46:02an awesome. Let me show you.
- 46:04The difference between the games and the methodology can be
- 46:07explained. I I think people see that they
- 46:11get afraid. I'm like, it's not, that's not
- 46:13what we're doing. We're.
- 46:14I I don't think I know everyone has said it, but like when the
- 46:18games is on ESPN, it's like, oh, we're going to have so many
- 46:20people coming in. Were there people that saw it
- 46:25that wanted to check it out? Yeah, OK.
- 46:26There were a couple. I would not say that that was
- 46:29like a big lead generating thing.
- 46:33We talked about it, we put it on.
- 46:35They knew that more. Eyes on it though.
- 46:37Yeah, I mean, like the people saw it, but I didn't get, I
- 46:40didn't get members. I know it.
- 46:41Did you? I get it.
- 46:42It got. But see, that's a certain type
- 46:45of person. You were still in that.
- 46:46Like, I'm in athlete mode. Oh, I can do that thing.
- 46:49Cool, I'll do that. OK, I'll I got I got you bro.
- 46:53I think and I don't know if the numbers to to, I don't know the
- 46:57numbers for this Tyler, but I think you can back it up that 17
- 47:02to 24 demographic. I think the games on ESPN was a
- 47:07huge driver after that graphic, maybe not.
- 47:12The. Does that does that evolve?
- 47:15It's one of the largest problems we have.
- 47:18There's the the volume of of Crossfitters that we've lost in
- 47:22the past seven or eight years is basically between 16 and 28.
- 47:30And that's all it's been. Decimated.
- 47:33You know, that's all they see Jason Hopper and they're like,
- 47:36that's what I want to do. Actually, I'll say all all of
- 47:39like the, you know, CrossFit dying like if you feel it from a
- 47:44a number of human bodies, it's from that age range.
- 47:47It's not any other age range only.
- 47:51'Cause I mean people who are already in it, when you drink
- 47:53the Kool-aid, I feel like the Kool-aid stays good.
- 47:58I think for the most part, if they, if they have, if they have
- 48:08feel like they've been wronged somehow, then it can sour it I
- 48:12think a little bit. But like, like what?
- 48:14That's what I don't get. Like all of the all the external
- 48:17things really have nothing to do with the people inside.
- 48:20What I do think is missing in like, you know, one of the
- 48:22things about the the games versus the methodology thing, I
- 48:30understand why Greg, I was pissed when Greg did what he did
- 48:34when he just ripped the the media guts out of the out of the
- 48:37HQ and turned everything to, you know, Bertha and Mabel, you
- 48:43know, getting up off the couch and picking up the milk jugs.
- 48:46But I understand what he was doing though, because what did
- 48:49he do? He want, he wanted to, he, he
- 48:51thought people needed that. And we said it.
- 48:55We I mean, we say it all the time.
- 48:56The the difference in training between the the elite level
- 49:00Olympic athlete and the Asian grandparent, like it's the same
- 49:04training, right? So we should be able to do the
- 49:06same stuff. It's just different by
- 49:07intensity. So if that's fine, if if all
- 49:09we're doing is talking about the games, then yes, we need to talk
- 49:13about the other things as well. And it needs to be spread out
- 49:16because what are we first? We're a methodology first, then
- 49:21we're a sport. I mean we have that, we have
- 49:23that Ave. but we are a methodology first.
- 49:26We are, we are a fitness methodology an increase work
- 49:30capacity across broad times and modal domain methodology.
- 49:34That is what we are. We have these avenues where you
- 49:37get to express that in different ways and compete because it's
- 49:39fun and it's then you can make some money out of it and we can
- 49:42crown the fittest and all of those things, but we are not a
- 49:45sport first. No, I mean, but where this where
- 49:48this originated was I'm saying that that it needs to be broken
- 49:53down to people when they walk into a.
- 49:54Gym Oh I agree because. Because they see that and you as
- 49:58the coach can break that down. Right.
- 50:01That's what I'm saying. Whether they see it like that or
- 50:03they either see it or they they hear from people, oh, it's
- 50:09dangerous, it's scary, it's so hard.
- 50:11It's this, it's that. That is our job to educate that.
- 50:19And that's just as important as saying to is understanding the,
- 50:22you know, the points of progression on air squat.
- 50:24It's the same thing. It's just as important.
- 50:28I got to I got to know the product that I'm giving and
- 50:32CrossFit shouldn't be scary. And CrossFit is going to meet
- 50:35you where you are, and it will make you better, and it will
- 50:39make everything else in your life better, too.
- 50:41How about How about this one real quick if you want to answer
- 50:44this one. I'm 50, do all my own
- 50:46programming and hit 4 PRS last year.
- 50:48You can learn CrossFit and do all this on your own.
- 50:51That's the problem. What do I get for $150.00 a
- 50:54month? What you get is you get a coach
- 50:57that's watching you do it. Like because you're hitting PRS,
- 50:59that's great. I have I have an answer however.
- 51:01You what? I have an answer as well when
- 51:04you're done. OK, but I, it is very
- 51:09interesting with what people do versus what they think they do
- 51:16on their own. And I and like, and I'm, I, I
- 51:20think everyone's at fault of this.
- 51:21I mean, I've seen videos that I put out of myself.
- 51:23I'm like, Dang, I thought I was going all the way up on that
- 51:25one. I was not Dang all right, but
- 51:27whatever, But I understand that like you know, if you're getting
- 51:31PRS, cool, but what you'll get out of a trainer is you will get
- 51:35some, especially as you're getting older, making sure that
- 51:37you're moving correctly so you don't get injured as you get as
- 51:39you continue to go on. If you are PR ING and you're
- 51:42moving like shit, you are going to blow out those rubber, those
- 51:45rubber bushings and those old man joints of yours.
- 51:48Believe me, I have them too, and they will break down and you
- 51:51will get injured. It will happen.
- 51:53So it keeps you moving correctly.
- 51:55That's what the coach, the coach isn't there to rah, rah, rah
- 51:58you. I mean, like, cool, awesome, but
- 52:01they're there to make sure that you're moving safe, you're
- 52:02moving correct, and you're getting better every single
- 52:04time. That's what a coach will do for
- 52:06you. Go ahead and answer.
- 52:09Yeah, my answer would be your turn.
- 52:12He wasn't. He wasn't specific, but I would
- 52:14say if those 4 PRS were your 5K time, your Max clean, your
- 52:20Jackie time, and then Max strict pull ups or Max bar muscle UPS.
- 52:25If, if those oh, it's tough man, it's tough.
- 52:31We're not right. You know what?
- 52:33No, no, right. Jackie is 1000 meter row, 50
- 52:36freaking empty bar thrusters and 30 pull ups.
- 52:38It's not that freaking hard, Greg.
- 52:40You created it. You created it.
- 52:43Greg. It's not hard.
- 52:45You should be ashamed of yourself.
- 52:47It's not hard. He's getting old.
- 52:49It's OK. It's all right.
- 52:52All all that to say is that. See, you see?
- 52:55You see how he gets all fired up?
- 52:56That's why he's all burned out. This is why he gets all burned
- 52:58out when he comes back to class. If it was.
- 53:00PRS. If that's was you, those were
- 53:02your PRS, then you're right. If they were all weightlifting,
- 53:06which I'm just going to go out on a limb and say they were
- 53:08because they were men. That's what everyone's PR.
- 53:10That's what especially men, that's what men do, right?
- 53:14We lift freaking weights. And if you don't lift weights,
- 53:17you're not a man. I it's just point blank, Tyler
- 53:21said it, I didn't say it. The that's what that's what
- 53:27that's what an affiliate can do for you is your PRS are going to
- 53:30be actually fitness and not just lifting weights because being
- 53:35stronger does not equal fitness as much as we want it to.
- 53:39I promise we speaking, speaking from experience, being stronger
- 53:46does not equal healthier slash fitter.
- 53:50OK, for Tanner Tanner, Tanner Shuck.
- 53:53But if those are, if your PRS are a 5K strict pull ups, jacket
- 53:57time and then, you know, Max clean, then you're killing it,
- 54:00man. And nobody should tell you what
- 54:02to do because you're freaking killed.
- 54:04All right, we're going to. Pull this up and then we'll let
- 54:07you get going there, Bill. I just wanted to tease this a
- 54:10little bit. What you're looking at here is
- 54:13the count of athletes by age per year, bottom being the athletes
- 54:18and then the count. So you can see up there in 2018
- 54:20was our peak and then 2020 fives in the white and the basically
- 54:26over 42 is pretty close to the same.
- 54:29And then there's a mountain of difference between 18 and and
- 54:3438. What's interesting is in the
- 54:36growth from 2015 to 2018 that that young demographic didn't
- 54:41grow. Oh yeah, that's that's a good
- 54:43point. It all came it, it all came the,
- 54:47the, the growth came from what, 26 plus, yeah, 26 to 46, like it
- 54:55was in the middle there. There was no growth on that
- 54:57young side, which is kind of interesting.
- 55:00All right, take this down. Who cares about this?
- 55:04I think it's good stuff to see. I think it's it's always
- 55:06interesting to see where, where the people are coming from.
- 55:12It's always interesting to wonder why they're coming from
- 55:15there, as if the young if the younger generations aren't
- 55:18coming in, what isn't that they aren't seen or what what didn't
- 55:22they know or what was the. Games anymore.
- 55:26Bill, maybe that may be, that may be the case.
- 55:28You know, I think it's hard for me to say because I came into
- 55:32it. I was already older, so I
- 55:34couldn't be like the they're just out of college, you know,
- 55:37looking for whatever. I was like, well, I just turned
- 55:3940. Cool.
- 55:41I think, I think the biggest mover and like I again, I can't
- 55:45speak for women, but for men and I might be wrong or like I'm OK
- 55:49with being wrong, but it's what enough men were looked at Rich
- 55:53Froning and they thought that they could be Rich Froning.
- 55:57I'm guilty. No, no and no.
- 55:58They they killed absolutely right.
- 56:00They're not even close, right. But he was close enough,
- 56:03attainable enough, that he was so BA you thought you could be a
- 56:07version of that. I got in before the whole
- 56:10throning became a, you know. Thrown.
- 56:12Outside it was. The frowning era.
- 56:15Yeah, it was the, it was the Speeler, it was the Amundsen.
- 56:18It was like these guys that were just like, wait, you could do
- 56:22what? And back then it was just, can
- 56:24you do hard things? Yeah, right.
- 56:26Right. I just before like then it was
- 56:27like, here's someone drawn a line in the sand.
- 56:30Can you do it? Yes, like that was that's what I
- 56:33liked about it. That's what got me into it.
- 56:35I'm like, oh, here's a this is cool.
- 56:36What is that's a weird work. I'm gonna do that one.
- 56:38That's a good. I'm gonna do that one.
- 56:39A good point to what Ortega's saying, they're focused on
- 56:42aesthetics. The young people are I was
- 56:45talking with spin about. This dude, old people are too
- 56:47man, don't be sad. I am just as much as I was when
- 56:50I was younger. Come on now.
- 56:52I was watching. The 2020 fourteen games this
- 56:58weekend and I, I noticed a couple things #1 all the
- 57:02athletes then visit games athletes, they move so slow.
- 57:05But the second thing I noticed was the way their bodies looked.
- 57:09They, a lot of them looked like essentially swimmers just jacked
- 57:12swimmers and I was it. It's like regular people now are
- 57:18training the same amount that those athletes were training
- 57:22back then. Most of the athletes back then
- 57:23we're doing like maybe a session or maybe like a session being
- 57:27make an hour and a half, two hours like this totally
- 57:30attainable. You can actually look the way
- 57:32you want to faster doing CrossFit.
- 57:34But people think, oh, I don't want to look like, you know,
- 57:37whoever, whatever at games athlete that's too bulky.
- 57:40It's like, no, you're never going to train that much and you
- 57:42will look the way you want to look.
- 57:44Yeah, the, the athletes, it's really interesting going from
- 57:48the early years to those middle years to what they look like
- 57:50now. Like it's, you can tell the
- 57:52difference in how they're training and what they're
- 57:54training to. I mean, when there wasn't any
- 57:58money and there, I mean, it was just a, it was just it, the
- 58:02CrossFit Games was a local throwdown.
- 58:04That's all it was. So you had regular people who
- 58:07just work out a little bit more than in this stuff and that's
- 58:09what they were competing at. So they weren't, they did look
- 58:11like regular people. Local throwdown and Amy Thoris,
- 58:13daughter from Iceland. Yeah, well, yeah.
- 58:17No, it's a local throwdown that some freaking person from
- 58:20Iceland can come to. That's it.
- 58:22You. Need, I mean, Miko's from
- 58:24Finland, right? Yeah, he's.
- 58:26Coming as you know, but no one even knows where that is.
- 58:29That's true. You, you don't you think it's
- 58:31South Africa? Well, Bill, you got to, you get
- 58:36to go start coaching class. I'm going to go do what I love
- 58:39you guys. I'm going to.
- 58:40Go. Thanks Bill.
- 58:41This was great. I love hanging out with you guys
- 58:42anytime. Appreciate it.

- 58:47back. I'm not here to tell you to do
- 58:49crossbow. I definitely won't tell you it's
- 58:51the most effective training program there is, or that it
- 58:55makes you stronger, healthier, and one of the fittest people on
- 58:59Earth. Why would I need to do that?
- 59:03But if you wanted to do CrossFit, I'm not going to stop
- 59:06you. But.
- 59:07Just so we're clear. This isn't me telling you to do
- 59:11CrossFit. Jason Hopper does CrossFit.
- 59:14See what I did there? Right.
- 59:17It is Bill Brother guys tractor Hector Trinkta.
- 59:23Tractor Trinkta. Trinkta, that was bad.
- 59:27Today I ordered a manta sleep mask with code spin.
- 59:30That's how you do it. Code spin, save you money.
- 59:34I will give you a heads up. King Kong bags.
- 59:39This is the last month of sponsorship, so do not screw us.
- 59:44Do not. Yeah, delay.
- 59:45Sorry. Don't wait.
- 59:46Don't don't think you have more time.
- 59:48If you want the best backpack out there, knkg.com, go get a
- 59:53backpack duffel bag. It'll last you forever.
- 59:59So go go check those guys out. And then maybe, maybe if you
- 1:00:02guys buy enough, they'll be around longer so everybody else
- 1:00:05can get some. So let's see.
- 1:00:09Bill Gruner, man. 15 minutes turns into an hour, an hour.
- 1:00:14It's all good, though. It's all good.
- 1:00:16All right, We're going to get into it, though viewer comments
- 1:00:18real quick. Carrie Robson.
- 1:00:21Colton Mertens is the Charles Barkley of CrossFit.
- 1:00:25Everyone loves him. But he never wins a championship
- 1:00:29ring. You know, when I read that, I
- 1:00:33kind of agree. Dude, Colton's great.
- 1:00:36Charles is great. Colton's great.
- 1:00:39Colton's too quiet. He I get you, I get you, but he
- 1:00:43talks. He talks trash.
- 1:00:45He does, dude. And look and look, Charles is a
- 1:00:48good old boy from Alabama, You know, like it fits.
- 1:00:52It's, it's, it's he's not a farmer, but he it fits.
- 1:00:56He was quiet. He was quiet in Auburn.
- 1:00:58He didn't take any tests, I'll tell you that.
- 1:01:01That's true. At the penis, blue one all.
- 1:01:07Right, on that note, Dallon uses the mantle mask.
- 1:01:11There you go. See, use me at the it's best
- 1:01:15stuff out there. He may have actually, I think he
- 1:01:17actually asked for my code back in the day.
- 1:01:19So even Dallon uses the code all right at the penis blue one.
- 1:01:27The pan is blue. Nope.
- 1:01:34European here, I hate CrossFit because the guy good.
- 1:01:41Start. Yeah, because the guy once told
- 1:01:44me that Danny, I assume it's Spiegel.
- 1:01:47Looks like she has the Downs and I had to unfollow her because it
- 1:01:52makes me uncomfortable looking at Tard Butt.
- 1:01:58I don't even know. Where it's.
- 1:02:00Going I'll finish also any Thoris daughter is Aaron
- 1:02:02Rodgers. Yeah, I could.
- 1:02:09I could. I could wrap my head around it.
- 1:02:11I didn't say that thing about Danny, did I?
- 1:02:13I That's not for me. Somebody else told.
- 1:02:15That sounds too mean to me. Mean.
- 1:02:19You've never said nothing mean. Not on purpose, not with me,
- 1:02:25not. I don't think I've ever said
- 1:02:27anything with I'll intent. How about that?
- 1:02:30Right. You think I have?
- 1:02:33No, no, you're just being honest.
- 1:02:36Add Jason Cabana over saturation.
- 1:02:39This is of sport is a problem in all sports.
- 1:02:43NBA 82 games and big players sit out.
- 1:02:45NFL 18 games is too many. MLB 162 games it's too many.
- 1:02:50Spin said it perfectly. We can watch the same people 678
- 1:02:57times in 12 months. Scarcity mindset at Corey
- 1:03:04Treharne. Guys.
- 1:03:07I didn't expect Tyler's butt obsession to become a whole
- 1:03:09segment moving forward. Alas, here I am listening to
- 1:03:13provide hit expert analysis on Dallin Pepper.
- 1:03:18That brings us to today's Bum of the Week.
- 1:03:21I wish I had a butt Dumper of the Dumper of the week.
- 1:03:25You got to start tagging the the barbell spin on Instagram.
- 1:03:27We'll pull up a dumper. Can we say Bum of the week?
- 1:03:30It's Dumper. No, it's dumper of the week.
- 1:03:32I. Don't like?
- 1:03:33That I know, but it's my thing. What about big?
- 1:03:35What about I don't like mountain?
- 1:03:37What about big booty of the? Big booty of the week.
- 1:03:40No, because see, this is OK. Now we're going to get into a
- 1:03:43little butt philosophy here, OK? Dumper Philosophy.
- 1:03:46Butts don't have to be big to be really nice.
- 1:03:50It's form over over function sometimes, You know what I'm
- 1:03:53saying? You know what I'm saying?
- 1:03:58OK. I would say to in proportion of
- 1:04:01their body, Yeah. And they should.
- 1:04:04Yeah, OK. They should.
- 1:04:06Is that make sense? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah 'cause
- 1:04:08you can have like a thin person, but they have a big butt for
- 1:04:11their frame. Correct.
- 1:04:12And it and it and it looks great.
- 1:04:14Yeah. At Pablo Gomez, Mexico City is
- 1:04:19really far away from South America.
- 1:04:21Like really, really far away. Yeah, it's like there's all of
- 1:04:28Central America. I still think that those in
- 1:04:35South America will go to Mexico. Yeah.
- 1:04:41Corey Trejarne again, Jason's softball throw is equivalent to
- 1:04:46Barclays golf swing. I agree.
- 1:04:51I don't remember where he threw a softball.
- 1:04:53Jake Khalifa, I was sorry. This one may may get past a lot
- 1:04:57of you if you don't follow Pedro at Edward Payne.
- 1:05:01What about the dump Pedro posted on his IG story that his kid
- 1:05:05took in the chair? That was epic dude.
- 1:05:08I don't even like using the word epic but that was amazing.
- 1:05:12Yeah, that was that was right. What killed it was the smile on
- 1:05:15the kids face. Yeah, for those who didn't know,
- 1:05:18Pedro, his son, I don't know, probably two.
- 1:05:23Yeah, something like that. Probably trying to potty train
- 1:05:26butt naked in a little kids chair and there was just a pile
- 1:05:32like a pile on the floor on the chair dripping down and the kid
- 1:05:36just looking backwards with a gold.
- 1:05:39It honestly, it honestly just like frightened me for the
- 1:05:42future. Like I, I, I just, I couldn't
- 1:05:44even find it funny because I'm like, that sucks.
- 1:05:47John Lewis, let's take a break. Talk about baby stuff for a
- 1:05:51second, OK? I to this day, when Braun's
- 1:05:55trying to poop and he's going, he's doing it.
- 1:05:58I, I, I I burst out laughing every time to the point where it
- 1:06:02like distracts him and I can't getting it, buddy.
- 1:06:05Yeah, I can't stop laughing every time.
- 1:06:10No, baby, those are your viewer comments of the week.
- 1:06:13Drop ears down below. If you're watching, if you're
- 1:06:15still watching live, wait till the end and then throw those
- 1:06:18down there and then also subscribe back to Mayhem.
- 1:06:26You all right? I'm great.
- 1:06:28Cool. Yeah, all the mayhem.
- 1:06:31So couple things. First off, check out the article
- 1:06:36I just wrote. Will Mayhem actually put out a
- 1:06:40live stream? I don't know.
- 1:06:42First of all, AI is pretty crazy.
- 1:06:45It was like I looked at that and I was like, I mean, some of it's
- 1:06:49not legible. I would imagine that the
- 1:06:52handwriting on the board also wasn't very legible either.
- 1:06:55But really interesting stuff on that John.
- 1:07:00I bet you haven't seen it yet. I I've I've yes I have but I
- 1:07:04didn't like zoom in or anything. So here's here's rich classic
- 1:07:09stuff over there talking about the broadcast prices, which
- 1:07:17sorry everyone, but. If we lose.
- 1:07:19As much money as we did last year on the broadcast.
- 1:07:22You're going to get. Pre packaged or post post
- 1:07:24production event videos versus broadcast.
- 1:07:26Because I love you but I'm not in love with you.
- 1:07:30Blast. Stuff over there that's.
- 1:07:32Good stuff all. Right.
- 1:07:33What is AI? What?
- 1:07:36What? What do?
- 1:07:37You mean what is AI? So so.
- 1:07:40Oh, oh, oh, you're able to see what was written.
- 1:07:43So to the to the left over here, this is on the live stream or
- 1:07:48the the the video, right? And I'm like, OK, they're
- 1:07:51talking about their their broadcast, their live coverage.
- 1:07:56And I'm trying to read it and I'm like squinting, I'm trying
- 1:07:59to pause it like at the time where the camera is still and
- 1:08:03it's not kind of pixelated. And it's like the best one.
- 1:08:06I best screen grab I could get. And I'm like full live something
- 1:08:11and post coverage as live. And I'm like, what is?
- 1:08:17And so I was like, you know what, I'm going to go take it
- 1:08:21and put it into a little AI and say, can you unblur this for me?
- 1:08:26That's crazy, I did not see that.
- 1:08:30How many did you? Did you just run it through one
- 1:08:32or did you run it through multiple?
- 1:08:33I went through a couple different ones.
- 1:08:35This was Google Gemini and I assume, I mean it's probably
- 1:08:40mostly accurate. I mean, again, like you saw what
- 1:08:43it looked like, but it puts it together and this is what popped
- 1:08:45out. And like, maybe something that
- 1:08:48like the 150 could be 120 or it could be, you know, 180, I don't
- 1:08:52know. But like it's it's using its
- 1:08:53best judgement. I was like, then you start
- 1:08:56comparing to the original. You're like, wow, like, you
- 1:08:59know, proximity to field makes sense, opportunities to engage,
- 1:09:02like on site experience as amazing as possible.
- 1:09:05And then you see live capabilities 25,000 as a post
- 1:09:10coverage or a full broadcast 150,000, which is in line with
- 1:09:14what Rory said they spent last. Year last year, yeah.
- 1:09:20Which I thought was crazy and then this part over here was
- 1:09:24wild Red Bull onset cost or and that's where I don't think they
- 1:09:28could always interpret CW something event WFP.
- 1:09:34What do you think that means? Like just going off the Red Bull
- 1:09:37onset cost or? That could be like offset cost
- 1:09:42or are they like, how did that WFP do something to like, you
- 1:09:46know, I don't know. I don't know if they, yeah, I
- 1:09:48don't know if they have some insight as to what the deal was
- 1:09:50between Red Bull and them, but the WFP is awesome.
- 1:09:56Yeah. I was like, this is crazy.
- 1:09:57If it means what I think it means, it's awesome.
- 1:10:01Yeah. So I thought that was
- 1:10:04interesting. So we don't know what we'll get
- 1:10:06from from that. But the the main part of the
- 1:10:12segment, what I was planning on talking about was this, 19 of
- 1:10:19the 30 athletes who were initially invited based off of
- 1:10:22the rogue point system have declined their invitation.
- 1:10:28Ricky Medeiros Crouch kind of makes sense when you're
- 1:10:32traveling from Australia. Pat Velder, who knows what he's
- 1:10:35doing this year, but Dallin Pepper, James Sprague also said
- 1:10:39no, you know, I don't think there's too many surprises with
- 1:10:44the rest of them. But no Daniel Brandon, no Alexis
- 1:10:48Raptis, nobody's coming from Australia, no Alex, Alex Kazan.
- 1:10:54So a lot of athletes saying no thanks and they start moving
- 1:10:59down the list. Haley Adams was on there.
- 1:11:00She accepted. Man in agony's accepted.
- 1:11:04My question to you guys is if you were Rory and Rich, how
- 1:11:10would you field how how would you determine your 20 athlete
- 1:11:15men and women at this? Point or before.
- 1:11:18No, like 2 months ago, if you were in, if, if Rory asked you,
- 1:11:23what would I, what, what, what should we do to have a semi
- 1:11:26final with 20 men and 20 women? How would you get there?
- 1:11:30And we want to be, you know, we want to have the best athletes.
- 1:11:34I have a definitive answer. Let's hear it.
- 1:11:39You want to go first, Tyler? No, you go ahead.
- 1:11:43So I think your first 15 invites 20 person field, right?
- 1:11:47I think your first 15 invites are automatically the top 15 at
- 1:11:52the games. This way you avoid any diversity
- 1:11:56picks. If they made the top 15, they've
- 1:11:58earned the right to be invited the top 15 no matter who it is.
- 1:12:03I do not care. In that order, get 15 invites
- 1:12:08from from there you go. So say like 6 of them reject
- 1:12:13you, OK, from is it or, you know, 19, whatever that's in
- 1:12:17this lot. But from there, you take the top
- 1:12:2015 or, or from there you fill out the rest of it, The rest of
- 1:12:24the 15 from the open, last year's open, you're.
- 1:12:31Just saying last year. Yeah, well, I mean, the is the
- 1:12:35open going to. I guess the Open's going to
- 1:12:37happen before Mayhem, right? That quarterfinals will be
- 1:12:40before Mayhem. So no, so the from the open this
- 1:12:43year, that's how you will invite from your remaining spots like
- 1:12:48last year Mayhem was before. So I was saying, you know what I
- 1:12:50mean, but. It only leaves you a month.
- 1:12:53I I, So if you want it to be sooner than that, then you take
- 1:12:56the open from last year, but you make it known this is how we're
- 1:12:59doing it. And then, and you can fill that
- 1:13:03away all the way to the 15. It rewards people for trying in
- 1:13:07the open. It rewards people who have
- 1:13:10earned it at the games. And then from top to bottom, the
- 1:13:13season means something as far as getting people to the Mayhem
- 1:13:17class. And I get in the open, you will
- 1:13:20have people like Kale, but I, I would argue that that was a good
- 1:13:24thing, You know, that he got exposed.
- 1:13:27I would argue that was a good thing.
- 1:13:29Some would argue it was an on purpose thing.
- 1:13:32Maybe, but from. Some would.
- 1:13:35From the top. So say say like on the men's
- 1:13:38side, you invite the top 15 games athletes, 8 of them, eight
- 1:13:42of them rejected. Then you go straight from the
- 1:13:46open until the 15 is filled up and then once the 15 is filled
- 1:13:51up, you can invite 5 people of whoever you want to pick and
- 1:13:55like. That can be your people that
- 1:13:57didn't like Velnar, right? Like that, that or Chandler.
- 1:14:00If you want to invite other people, you can and they like
- 1:14:05the invites, they like the special people invite.
- 1:14:08So if you want to keep that, you can or you just fill out fill it
- 1:14:12all out to the top 20 from the open.
- 1:14:15Are you? So you're OK with sending out
- 1:14:18these invites because like that's basically what Syndicate
- 1:14:21did the top 20 at the games all got an invoice that invite
- 1:14:23that's that's just went out as well last week.
- 1:14:29So you're cool. You're cool with having to deal
- 1:14:31with all these people saying no, like you're going to obviously
- 1:14:34have quants out. You know, Chandler's not doing
- 1:14:38the season. People don't want to travel from
- 1:14:40Australia but you're cool with having to like do deal with all
- 1:14:43the back fills? Yeah, I don't think it's gonna,
- 1:14:46I don't think it's that difficult to just look who's
- 1:14:48next one. The first invites, the 15 games
- 1:14:51people. And then after that you
- 1:14:52literally just go down the line the set and say you have two
- 1:14:57days to respond and you invite the next.
- 1:14:59So like if you have, if you're gonna go all the way to the top
- 1:15:0220, say, say if you want 5 special invites, you leave those
- 1:15:04five special invites, they're special because it should freak
- 1:15:07and say yes. If you don't want that, say you
- 1:15:10have 12 spots left, right, then you invite 12 people.
- 1:15:16You have two days to respond and then you invite the next four
- 1:15:20people because. Always leave an ultimatum.
- 1:15:22Yeah, yes, yes. And then you will fill out, you
- 1:15:27will fill out your bracket and you will fill it out that way.
- 1:15:29And then you reward people for being good at CrossFit.
- 1:15:34You reward like the best people. You're not just inviting people
- 1:15:38because they have Instagram followers.
- 1:15:42That's fair. That's fair.
- 1:15:43Tyler, do you have an idea? Yeah, cool.
- 1:15:49What I would do is I would do. I was trying to think it
- 1:15:56amazing. The other Watkins the Mayhem
- 1:15:58Watkins Paper Rock. Scissors for Peru goes you're
- 1:16:03going to run into this wall where it's like people are
- 1:16:06contemplating going because they they know that their chances are
- 1:16:11are ever decreasing like basically all four of the guys
- 1:16:15who are going are probably going to go to the games right well.
- 1:16:20Three Well, 33. Of them are.
- 1:16:23Right, that's what I'm saying. But like, all of them are
- 1:16:25contenders to go to the games. Right, so but OK, but hear.
- 1:16:28Me out, do you think? Do you think if looking at this
- 1:16:31list between Adler, Kranikov, Hopper, Hatfield, Mertens, the
- 1:16:35three spots, go to one of them, one of these five guys, Or, you
- 1:16:39know, especially now and of the women, you have Ariel Gabby,
- 1:16:45Emma, Emily, Lucy Campbell and Olivia Cursetter, three of
- 1:16:49those. Or do you think somebody else
- 1:16:51could come in and sneak in? On the women's side, I could see
- 1:16:53somebody sneak in. It would be just barely none,
- 1:16:58none on the guy. Let's stick with the guy's side.
- 1:17:00So the guy's side's like locked. I just can't like who's better
- 1:17:06than those guys right there that's going to show out for
- 1:17:08this? Well, they, the one, the only
- 1:17:10people better have said no. Right.
- 1:17:13And so. I'm sorry, Tanner Belazz is not
- 1:17:15taking a spot from those guys, but I would, I would.
- 1:17:19But I would also say that, you know that everybody knows that,
- 1:17:23you know that. And this, these, all of these
- 1:17:25guys are top 15 in the games, right?
- 1:17:27They've already said yes. They're the ones that have
- 1:17:29already said no. I think whenever you start
- 1:17:32pulling from the top 15 in the open, you'll get less rejections
- 1:17:37because they know they're not going to beat them anyway.
- 1:17:40I like like it wouldn't. They're not going to beat them
- 1:17:44anywhere, you know what I mean? They just want to go to Maine.
- 1:17:47My next step, I think I would do a play on what John says what
- 1:17:51what's the the time difference between quarterfinals and
- 1:17:54mayhem? Three weeks.
- 1:17:58That's close. And I mean, that's why I said
- 1:18:00last year. So it could be like, you already
- 1:18:03know it's coming, but you needed to make that announcement
- 1:18:07pretty. Right.
- 1:18:09I like going off this year's Open.
- 1:18:10I I do too, but you just have to know what's.
- 1:18:13You got to know what's had there.
- 1:18:15You got to know what's there. If the opens programmed well.
- 1:18:19I don't think it matters. I don't.
- 1:18:20I don't think it matters. This.
- 1:18:22This is just where your invites come from.
- 1:18:24So we go one or two directions. Tell me what you like better.
- 1:18:28My first thing is, so you need to incentivize a group of people
- 1:18:31who who to go, who are like, I don't like, I don't have really
- 1:18:36a good chance. So you need to make like a
- 1:18:37another element to it. What I would do is I would take
- 1:18:41the top athletes from each state at on the East Coast to create
- 1:18:51like essentially an East Coast championship and then you can
- 1:18:55wear like a jersey from your state or something like that
- 1:18:58back to. The teams.
- 1:18:59Yeah, well, I mean, like, people would be hyped to go and
- 1:19:02represent their state and know that it's like my season doesn't
- 1:19:05end here and like I really do win like a sort of a big deal
- 1:19:08and I could possibly go to the games and throw down with the
- 1:19:10athletes. Yeah, but never would never be
- 1:19:12able. To are there 8 athletes from the
- 1:19:14East Coast that would? I think there are athletes like.
- 1:19:17So if you went off the Open, yeah, I think there are athletes
- 1:19:19from each state that would do well.
- 1:19:21Yeah. And that so that the second part
- 1:19:22of this would be expanded to all 50 states.
- 1:19:28How? I mean, you couldn't take all of
- 1:19:30them, but like figure out some way in which you'd like you're
- 1:19:33the represent of the, you know, the North American champion or
- 1:19:35something like that. I just some other way to where
- 1:19:41it's incentivizing some sort of 2nd place prize is kind of
- 1:19:46weird, but there's an underdog story to it, you know what I'm
- 1:19:49saying? We saw that last year, yeah.
- 1:19:54I don't, I, I think last year we had last minute withdrawals.
- 1:19:58I think it was hard at the very end to fill like kind of the
- 1:20:01John's Point, 18th, 19th, 20th spots, right?
- 1:20:05Like because so many people had declined and they know.
- 1:20:10If they want to have a path to the games, that's their ultimate
- 1:20:13goal, not just to go out and compete, you know, have fun.
- 1:20:16Throwing down in Mayhem that you're competing there is
- 1:20:22probably not the best for you with everything else that was
- 1:20:25going on last year and it's going on this year, right?
- 1:20:28Like you've got to pick, like, do I rather go out the legends?
- 1:20:31Was it the week after or do I go to syndicate or Norcal or do I
- 1:20:37travel across the country or the world to go somewhere else and
- 1:20:43having to do that backfill process and all that is a pain.
- 1:20:48Now I saw some comments in there like why don't we just make the
- 1:20:50open the qualifier and I can, I can support that.
- 1:20:54I'd like the idea of having the open being a start before
- 1:20:58anything else. I'd if I had my way and that was
- 1:21:00the perfect world, Yes, but we're living in the Wild West.
- 1:21:05Anything goes right now. If I was Rory, I would have said
- 1:21:10an open invitation. Submit that you want to compete.
- 1:21:17Oh, casting call. So that way everybody signs up
- 1:21:21that wants to, and now you have your roster of 200 athletes.
- 1:21:25But what's stopping you from just submitting and be like,
- 1:21:28yeah, you know what, never mind, I'm going to nor Cal.
- 1:21:31Because then you've accepted, you've have confirmed they've
- 1:21:34they've submitted their name and they will be picked based off of
- 1:21:37a ranking system. And I think going from the games
- 1:21:40to like maybe probably John's point, like just using the open
- 1:21:44and ranking them from there. And here's the list of 20
- 1:21:49confirmed athletes. Like those last minute withdraws
- 1:21:53last year when Daniel withdrew, Dallin withdrew a few others
- 1:21:58like that wasn't viewed favorably.
- 1:22:00No. Right.
- 1:22:01And that that was public. Now these guys like, yeah,
- 1:22:05Dallin and James and you know, Ricky and Jay are going out to
- 1:22:09Tori and the other guys are going out to legends or work out
- 1:22:12like that all makes sense. But if you've said I'm going to
- 1:22:15be there and then you withdraw, like everybody knows you said
- 1:22:21yes, you you have your list of people and what what you want to
- 1:22:25if you want to use rogue whatever, I don't think that's
- 1:22:27the right way to do it. I think using the games and then
- 1:22:29using like this year's semifinals or doing something
- 1:22:33that gives you that right, like ranking order would be
- 1:22:39beneficial. But that way you don't have to
- 1:22:42deal with all right, here's your list of, you know, 15.
- 1:22:46All right, here's another 10, here's another 10 until you try
- 1:22:50to get to the that part like it's got to be exhausting for
- 1:22:54those guys. So that's what I would say is
- 1:22:57just have an open call. Who wants to go and do it for
- 1:23:02me? Yeah, there you go.
- 1:23:05I don't hate it. I like the, I like the public
- 1:23:09humiliation portion of it though.
- 1:23:11Like that's kind of what I like. This part how how they've done
- 1:23:14it now. I mean, the way that they played
- 1:23:16it is Oh, what though? What you're saying?
- 1:23:17But I like how they're doing it too.
- 1:23:19Yeah, imagine being scared, too scared to compete with the with
- 1:23:21the classic. That's that was pretty good.
- 1:23:25Yeah, that was that was good. So stay tuned for Mayhem.
- 1:23:31I plan on being out there hopefully.
- 1:23:33Tyler, John, oh, it's pretty far for you, but.
- 1:23:36I'll accept an invite, Rich, send that to me.
- 1:23:39If if we're commentating, then mayhem.
- 1:23:43Yeah. Then I never know.
- 1:23:45I didn't see it on the whiteboard, but you never know.
- 1:23:47I saw, I saw Peter, Peter's comp.
- 1:23:51That would be amazing Peter's comment.
- 1:23:54You should have added that thing there.
- 1:23:56Yeah, you should. You should have Peter's comment.
- 1:24:00Fine, we'll do it. It's like the greatest comment
- 1:24:03on that post. Yeah, you guys want to head over
- 1:24:09to picture this? Yes.
- 1:24:11So last week we debuted a new game.
- 1:24:14We compared, we, we, John and Tyler identified and compared a
- 1:24:20sports athlete that's not a CrossFit to a CrossFit athlete.
- 1:24:25This week, we're going to flip it.
- 1:24:26Nope, Nope. We're sticking with CrossFit,
- 1:24:29but it's going to be a little bit different.
- 1:24:32Let me see here. Disney characters.
- 1:24:34Nope. Nope.
- 1:24:35Oh, I can get down at Disney characters.
- 1:24:37I knew each other was like hell yeah.
- 1:24:41Dude, Pixar characters. Pixar we can.
- 1:24:43Do we go on wild with Pixar? House.
- 1:24:46It's going to be a House of. Harry Potter it is not.
- 1:24:54Let's see. Hang on, let me get this so it
- 1:24:57actually works. Oh man.
- 1:24:59I'm I am really don't don't peek, John, I know you peeked.
- 1:25:05Was that? Am I not supposed to look
- 1:25:06somewhere? Yeah.
- 1:25:08All right, here we go. It is actors and actresses.
- 1:25:12OK. Oh OK, so it's the same game,
- 1:25:16just actors. Same game actors and actresses.
- 1:25:18You're going to say I have not? Prepared for this?
- 1:25:20OK, I I haven't either. So you guys had no idea that we
- 1:25:24were even doing this game? You had no idea.
- 1:25:26We'll have different opinions on what what these people are.
- 1:25:29Like, I know I like actors you don't like.
- 1:25:31You like actors I don't like. So it's gonna be yeah, yeah.
- 1:25:34Here we go, Leonardo DiCaprio. Cool dude, it's one of the best
- 1:25:40of all time. Had to start a while ago.
- 1:25:44What you know we got to know him as a kid is old now dates young
- 1:25:50girls heartthrob who was a heartthrob.
- 1:25:56Dude, this is Noah. I think it's rich.
- 1:26:02No, I'm not giving Leo to Rich. Rich is too edgy for for Leo.
- 1:26:08It's not Noah, dude. Noah's not.
- 1:26:11Edgy. Yeah, Noah's the least edgy
- 1:26:14person. Rich is too edgy to be Leo.
- 1:26:16Dude, dude, it's not, it's not Noah.
- 1:26:18It's not Noah. Noah in Shutter Island can
- 1:26:24that's like, no. The the what they acted in is
- 1:26:29very not very important. To me, yeah, but dude, he's a
- 1:26:32freaking like, like Leonardo's done a lot of different things.
- 1:26:36Like Noah's got one setting. It's not.
- 1:26:40Yeah, but like. What is it and and we?
- 1:26:43Want to go back as far as as Gilbert grapes here, John?
- 1:26:46I got one. I got one.
- 1:26:47That's Johnny Depp, Titanic. No Leo's in that.
- 1:26:51Oh yeah, he's the retarded boy. How about a game?
- 1:26:53How about a games athlete from California from back in the day?
- 1:26:56Philly. No, no, no, no, no.
- 1:27:01Fisher. Yes, Garrett Fisher.
- 1:27:05No, dude, guys, he's so much better than Garrett Fisher.
- 1:27:09We have to pick somebody good. Wasn't Garrett like 4th?
- 1:27:13Garrett was good. He was so bad, he's not even
- 1:27:16he's anonymous on the leaderboard.
- 1:27:18That's right. Yeah, Garrett's a one hit wonder
- 1:27:21in 2013. Like he was, he was great on
- 1:27:24the. Burden.
- 1:27:25Amazing potential. No, he's not.
- 1:27:27He got stomped when he got to the sled.
- 1:27:29He was good on the run. Cool, I know a lot of good
- 1:27:32runners. He wasn't good on the burden,
- 1:27:34Rob Ford. He wasn't great with the burden.
- 1:27:35He was great on the. Runner and when nobody knows
- 1:27:38that guy is. Oh, who's the other?
- 1:27:40The other Ozzie? Rob Forte.
- 1:27:44Dude, we have to name somebody good.
- 1:27:47He's one of the best actors of all time.
- 1:27:50He even won an Oscar. Dude, he's like all of the he's
- 1:27:53got so many good movies. You're you're thinking.
- 1:27:57You're trying to make him a goat though, and he's just.
- 1:28:00I'm not trying to make him a goat.
- 1:28:03He should just be better than Noah, No offense Noah.
- 1:28:07Definitely Hatfield. It is definitely not Hatfield.
- 1:28:11I feel, hear. Me out.
- 1:28:13I know I'm I'm switching genders here but.
- 1:28:16Wet Thrill. Red wheel Hold Holden.
- 1:28:19What about Dan Bailey? I could probably settle for Dan
- 1:28:24the only the the the Ronnie cheese.
- 1:28:29No, guys, he's. Just gonna throw out.
- 1:28:31Ronnie like. Dating all the young women that
- 1:28:33might be oh. A con con Porter.
- 1:28:36Sweet Kenny leverage. Dude Con Porter.
- 1:28:39Con Porter would be a good one. I know like Conn's more.
- 1:28:43Of like a McConaughey though. But this is.
- 1:28:48This is DiCaprio. You're killing me.
- 1:28:50Here I was going to say Julie Fouche.
- 1:28:53Newberry. No.
- 1:28:57I always see Leo is very clean though, like I don't Newberry
- 1:29:02and and. Con are not.
- 1:29:04Con are not very clean. Valner I don't.
- 1:29:08Know what that means? Fukowski.
- 1:29:14No, Dude, he's there's no way he's Fukowski.
- 1:29:17Like Wendy. Dude Fukowski's like like an
- 1:29:21engineer type deal. You're you're he's not that.
- 1:29:24Are you guys going to come up with one?
- 1:29:26Dan. All right.
- 1:29:27Damn, settle for Dan. All right, I don't, I don't like
- 1:29:30it, but. That was rough.
- 1:29:32All right, That was the first one.
- 1:29:33Next one, Ryan Gosling. Oh, they which would.
- 1:29:39Ryan like though? What?
- 1:29:42What athlete would be a liability at cornerback?
- 1:29:47I knew you were going to go with that one.
- 1:29:49You were Jason Hopper. Jason.
- 1:29:51Ryan. Ryan Gosling's Dallin Pepper.
- 1:29:58OK. Oh wow.
- 1:30:00I like. This you like that?
- 1:30:02Yes, he's he's like calm, cool, collected in most hair in most
- 1:30:07situations. Yeah, he's good looking.
- 1:30:09I. Think Down's got range as far as
- 1:30:12emotional. He's he's fun and nice, but he's
- 1:30:14also got. Some rage to him.
- 1:30:16Does does Gosling have a good dumper though?
- 1:30:19I would say Gosling has a good one.
- 1:30:22But it's under this like base of calmness though, yes, you know.
- 1:30:28Dallon can definitely ride a dirt bike.
- 1:30:31He can drive he. Can I know I I I hope Dallon
- 1:30:36does not disappoint me, but I think Dallon's lit jam in some
- 1:30:39good tunes when he's driving for sure.
- 1:30:42Oh I don't, I think you have different definition of what's
- 1:30:44good tunes, but fair enough. Probably fits Tyler's stuff.
- 1:30:49All right, we're we're good though.
- 1:30:50We got that one right away. Dallon's good.
- 1:30:53All right. Next up, Jennifer Lawrence.
- 1:30:57OK, so John, what what is your perception of Jennifer 'cause we
- 1:31:00need to I. Have a particular Abby Dolman?
- 1:31:05No, no. 'Cause dude, Jennifer Lawrence
- 1:31:07is like, not famous. Like she's famous, but she has
- 1:31:11the attitude of somebody not famous.
- 1:31:13She's a bro. I have.
- 1:31:17Mixed chillings. She, she is, she is down to
- 1:31:19earth, Abby. Mixed feelings about her.
- 1:31:21She's from Louisville, but I think you kind of nail it with
- 1:31:27Abby. I think so.
- 1:31:30I think so too. Yeah, you, you.
- 1:31:31Nail who? Who would in an interview?
- 1:31:33Who would go? Where's the pizza?
- 1:31:35That's Abby. Don't make man.
- 1:31:38Yeah, that's for sure. There's nobody more Broy than
- 1:31:42than Abby though. But it it's a, it's a good, it's
- 1:31:45in a good way. No, 'cause that Abby's cool.
- 1:31:51Yeah, I'm going to give it to Abby.
- 1:31:53All right, Wow. All right.
- 1:31:55After the first one, I didn't think we were going to be yeah
- 1:31:57all night. John nailed that one.
- 1:32:00All right. Next up, Macaulay Culkin.
- 1:32:03Oh, and Rose. This is.
- 1:32:08We turned out to be a drug addict Taylor self.
- 1:32:11This is De Chico I'm. Just kidding.
- 1:32:13Don't be mad at me. Don't be mad at me for.
- 1:32:16That different? A Mayhem guy.
- 1:32:18You think it's a mayhem guy? I it could be.
- 1:32:22Palladino. Yeah, we can probably come up
- 1:32:28with somebody better than Maladin Palladino I.
- 1:32:31Don't. Know great great in the team,
- 1:32:34team games and then killer games.
- 1:32:37What about her as a kid? Kayla, Stefano.
- 1:32:42Kayla, Stefano. Kayla Stefano.
- 1:32:45Stefano. Yeah.
- 1:32:46But what'd she do? Yeah, she won the team games one
- 1:32:49year and then disappeared. Yeah.
- 1:32:51She beat Hayley Adams and then Haley ruined her.
- 1:32:55Life, yeah, but I feel I feel like Macaulay has a little bit
- 1:33:00more of a. Dude, Palladino's pretty on the
- 1:33:02mark. Palladino's pretty on the mark.
- 1:33:04Rest in peace. Chico's Chico's funnier than
- 1:33:08than. Dude, I'll go, I'll go
- 1:33:10Palladino. Palladino's good.
- 1:33:14All right. Next one, Meryl Streep.
- 1:33:18I don't so unpopular opinion, I don't like Meryl Streep.
- 1:33:22I don't like her either, but she's very accomplished.
- 1:33:24She's still doing it. She's she's is a good actress.
- 1:33:27I just don't like her. She's Annie.
- 1:33:31She loves Prada. I think so.
- 1:33:32I think I think on the money. I'm with you.
- 1:33:35What? About the Rebecca Voigt.
- 1:33:38Annie, I like I. Like no, because Meryl was
- 1:33:41Meryl's actually successful. Wow.
- 1:33:46You know how many Oscars Meryl Streep has won?
- 1:33:49The same amount of games that Annie Thor's daughters won.
- 1:33:52We're not asking who was third place in 2011.
- 1:33:56Oscar No pal. Catherine's good, but I think
- 1:34:01Annie feels more right to me. That was, you know what?
- 1:34:05That was a dirty shot. And I'm sorry, that was, that
- 1:34:08was, that was, that was very. Good, You're gonna get a damn
- 1:34:11from Becca. Tell you what.
- 1:34:12I gotta come at you. I don't even dislike Becca boy
- 1:34:16and y'all just make it bad. You make it.
- 1:34:18Bad. We make it bad.
- 1:34:20I say that Becca is one that you said that.
- 1:34:24I said she'd be considered. I said she could be considered.
- 1:34:27And you're like, Oh no, she's terrible.
- 1:34:29Got you on here you idiots. I was hoping it was too.
- 1:34:36I just, I just threw that out. I just threw that out.
- 1:34:38I. Was John's that friend that's
- 1:34:40got enough things right that I'm just like, it's all right that
- 1:34:43whatever he says it. Sounds like something you would
- 1:34:46know all right. Andy Thoris daughter.
- 1:34:50Gosh Dang you cross fat. Amy Schumer.
- 1:34:54Oh man, Sporty Beth. No, Amy, I think Amy's got some
- 1:35:00saving qualities. I actually.
- 1:35:01Like Amy Schumer, I, I, I get it.
- 1:35:04She just like the same thing every single time.
- 1:35:06But I, I, she had that movie that LeBron was in train wreck
- 1:35:13and I, I thoroughly enjoyed that movie.
- 1:35:22I'm trying to think of, I shouldn't say this out loud.
- 1:35:26I'm trying to think girl that's got fat girl energy.
- 1:35:28Lauren Brooks. No, no, Lauren wasn't good
- 1:35:33enough to be well. It is.
- 1:35:36It is perfect. Lindsay Allen Dweller.
- 1:35:46No because Amy's fun. Valenzuela gives me 0 fun vibes.
- 1:35:54I don't. I don't know, I never talked to
- 1:35:55her, but. We're we're, we're going.

- 1:36:05And that's about it. All right, Matt Damon.
- 1:36:10Oh, I love Matt Damon. I KFC Kevin from Barstow was
- 1:36:16talking about these him and what's his buddy's name.

- 1:36:56Smith. No, it's Scott.
- 1:36:58No, he's not. No, he's not Scott Banchet.
- 1:37:01He's Matt Damon is Kerry's man. He won an Oscar out the gate.
- 1:37:07Damon. Yes, goodwill hunting.
- 1:37:11Ben's not got no personality range at all.
- 1:37:14I'm sorry. He's just like he's level headed
- 1:37:17all the. Time.
- 1:37:18Nobody dislikes him. But Matt's done more than just
- 1:37:22acting like now he's directing or whatever else.
- 1:37:26And Ben Smith has been on team and owns his affiliate and.
- 1:37:30And he has individualized programming or his own program.
- 1:37:34All Ben, personality wise they don't agree, but I'll give you
- 1:37:36Ben Smith, OK, It is peak average white guy.
- 1:37:41That's that's thank you. Next up.
- 1:37:44Scott's to athletic to be Matt Damon.
- 1:37:48Jennifer Instant. She was more rowdy.
- 1:37:53I'd give her DB, but I don't think it's.
- 1:37:59That's tough. Who was?
- 1:38:01The hot girl. Tovar, Stacy.
- 1:38:07Tovar. Jackie Perez.
- 1:38:10If Jackie were more successful, I'd give it to her.
- 1:38:14No freak. You don't know Jackie Perez.
- 1:38:19Camille, Camille, Camille LeBlanc.
- 1:38:21It's Camille LeBlanc. It's like so, so hard.
- 1:38:25Camille LeBlanc that that on the money.
- 1:38:27Camille LeBlanc in her heyday, dude, it's everybody.
- 1:38:32Nobody didn't talk about her, right?
- 1:38:35Still good looking. Now, I don't know what this
- 1:38:41means, but I agree, James. Goon mode.
- 1:38:44I think Hobart's too old to use that word.
- 1:38:49I want them to use that on the CrossFit podcast and see how
- 1:38:51that goes. All right, Next up, Tom Hanks.
- 1:38:55Depends on how you feel about Tom Hanks.
- 1:38:58A lot of controversy around Tom Hanks.
- 1:38:59Is it? Is it young Tom Hanks or now Tom
- 1:39:01Hanks? Yeah, we're talking big Tom
- 1:39:04Hanks, or I think. This.
- 1:39:06Is castaway Tom Hanks I think. This is rich.
- 1:39:08I think this is. Rich No.
- 1:39:10No, I'm not giving Rich to Tom. Yeah, the comments are starting
- 1:39:15to get it, Valner. No, dude, Tom is one of the
- 1:39:21best. He's one of the greats.
- 1:39:23So is Pat. So is Karl Malone.
- 1:39:25You just got a lot more credit. Beloved at the beginning and not
- 1:39:29so much now. Why is he not beloved now?
- 1:39:31The. People who don't have don't have
- 1:39:34as much love for him as much. I would.
- 1:39:37Say stuff and all that. Yeah, I could.
- 1:39:40I could. I could rock with Lagowski.
- 1:39:43I feel like Brent's making a comeback though, like.
- 1:39:47Tom Hanks is always in the game, man.
- 1:39:50You know we going with the Brent.
- 1:39:52Yeah, I would say Fukowski. OK.
- 1:39:56Pat Pat is more funny. More funny.
- 1:40:01Brent's funny, dude. Yeah, but it's in a nerdy way.
- 1:40:04Yeah, Hanks is a nerd. No, I'm I'm saying Hanks fits
- 1:40:09Fukowski more than Velner. What movie would be better?
- 1:40:13I'm agreeing with you before you're trying to argue.
- 1:40:14We're casting Forrest Gump and you got to pick between Velner
- 1:40:18and Fukowski. Rukowski all day, all day.
- 1:40:22Castaway, Fukowski. Rukowski.
- 1:40:25OK, Fukowski is. Tom dude, if Velner wasn't
- 1:40:27castaway he would be like, well, I'm still on this island.
- 1:40:33If it castaway would be. There's, there's no, there's no
- 1:40:36bag of milk over here, eh, That's what egg.
- 1:40:40That's what that would be. Angelina Jolie.
- 1:40:46Danielle. No, not ethnic enough.
- 1:40:52What I think Danielle's are probably a good one.
- 1:40:57No, Jolie is not crazy enough. Didn't she and like Billy Bish's
- 1:41:04Thornton, like drinks? You better switch Swap blood.
- 1:41:07I mean, OK, early days, early days, Jolie, She was, she was
- 1:41:10going through some daddy issue stuff.
- 1:41:12Jon Voight. What?
- 1:41:13Working out. Angelina Jolie's been around,
- 1:41:16man. She was freaking Grendel and
- 1:41:18Beowulf. Yeah, but I mean, dude, what?
- 1:41:21Grendel's mom. Isn't her and Brad Pitt like
- 1:41:23going through crazy shit too? She adopted an African child.
- 1:41:29Julie Fouchier. That's a deep cut.
- 1:41:33That's. A deep.
- 1:41:34Cut. No, no, no.
- 1:41:36Enjoy. That one Hobart.
- 1:41:37I object I object Julie Fouchez. I don't think it's, I don't
- 1:41:42think that's enough. I don't I, I think Danielle is
- 1:41:44more than that, but. No, I think, I think I'm 100%
- 1:41:48correct actually. But John's not, even though
- 1:41:53she's not ethnic enough. They've got a Hattie.
- 1:41:57No, no, he's not. No.
- 1:41:59Who can just turn it on like they're they're just delivering.
- 1:42:04Hattie would be more of the bro type.
- 1:42:06In what way? If you're you're right, you're
- 1:42:08right, you're right spin, you're right, like.
- 1:42:11Cross fat nose. I'll get.
- 1:42:16I'll get. In trouble.
- 1:42:17I'll give. I'll give it to you.
- 1:42:18Julie Fouche it is I'll. Be getting a cease and desist.
- 1:42:21Too. No no.
- 1:42:23Julie Fouche all. Right, Next up, Tina Fey.
- 1:42:31OK. I'm a little out on Tina Fey.
- 1:42:33You have to carry the team here. I like Tina Fey.
- 1:42:36You don't like Tina Fey? I just don't watch any of her
- 1:42:38stuff but. OK, I'll.
- 1:42:39Give her Lowen. It's perfect dude.
- 1:42:48Super likeable. Very, very mom feel.
- 1:42:53Has Tina Fey ever not been a mom feel in a movie she's been in?
- 1:42:57She wasn't a mom in Mean Girls, but she was a teacher, so, you
- 1:43:01know, kind of. Oh Ariel's got teacher vibes
- 1:43:03for. Sure.
- 1:43:04No, she actually has a show, a movie called Baby Mama, where
- 1:43:07she can't be a mom and she hires somebody else to be a mom for
- 1:43:10her and then she lies about being pregnant and it's a whole
- 1:43:13ordeal. I will say this is pretty good.
- 1:43:15No, dude, Ariel all the way. All right, Ariel, Yeah.
- 1:43:19That's it. Will Smith.
- 1:43:23Jason Hopper. No.
- 1:43:35Oh. Man, they're watching.
- 1:43:36John. You can hear him in the
- 1:43:38background. Lionel Theophanidis.
- 1:43:43Leo Theophanidis. No.
- 1:43:47I'm trying to think just has anybody slapped anybody?
- 1:43:52You're going off the slap. You're not going off of Fresh
- 1:43:54Prince. All we can go off of.
- 1:43:57Fresh Prince I robot legend. Listen.
- 1:44:02Not for obvious reasons. I think this is Chandler Smith.
- 1:44:06Oh, I like James Sprague. I like James Sprague a lot.
- 1:44:09Dude Will has fallen off. James is at his peak.
- 1:44:14Will's always at his peak. No, no, he's not.
- 1:44:22No, he's not. How about this one, Adler?
- 1:44:27That's that's really difficult. I see where you're going with
- 1:44:30it, but Will has all the personality in the world and
- 1:44:34Adler has the personality of a deer that's been shot.
- 1:44:38He also tried to He was getting into it with Roman.
- 1:44:41He almost slapped him. I think Will Smith is Roman.
- 1:44:46Oh. You know what?
- 1:44:49Yeah, you like it? I'm.
- 1:44:49Going with it. You like it?
- 1:44:51Yeah, I'd I'd hang out with Will and I'd hang out with Roman.
- 1:44:54Yeah, dude, Roman's great. Summer agrees with me, but
- 1:44:57that's fine. I do think it's break.
- 1:45:00That was fun. That's.
- 1:45:00It. That's it.
- 1:45:04That was good. That was good.
- 1:45:05There you. Go.
- 1:45:09And the last but not least, we got 12 minutes guys.
- 1:45:14And so last week we talked about why the Europeans were dropping
- 1:45:18off Tyler Mount. What criteria?
- 1:45:23Can't be dumb if there's no criteria.
- 1:45:27That is true. We were talking about the the
- 1:45:30drop off in the open, especially in Europe.
- 1:45:33We asked for some comments as to why and I have some.
- 1:45:38Good, they're a. Little bit longer because they
- 1:45:41had to express themselves, but. Thank you for expressing
- 1:45:45yourself seriously. Yeah, first one's from at
- 1:45:49Abstract Genius comments. You know it's going to be good.
- 1:45:53This dude's such a hater. Not signing up?
- 1:45:57Oh, is this the abstract guy? Dude?
- 1:45:59Yeah, he's so trash. This.
- 1:46:01Is just never liked the very cliche US macho attitude
- 1:46:05surrounding CrossFit. The whole definition about what
- 1:46:08a real man is. Pickup trucks, guns out.
- 1:46:11I'm so proud to be a white American.
- 1:46:15Seems like one have to buy into all that to be accepted as a
- 1:46:19real Crossfitter. That lifestyle just rings bad
- 1:46:23with many Europeans and you guys, the whole Sivan posse have
- 1:46:29to admit that this is the train you're riding for a great part.
- 1:46:35Talking shit about every other way of to live life or view our
- 1:46:39sport. the US YouTube common community is what we see a lot
- 1:46:44of and the way you by default talk everything CrossFit Inc non
- 1:46:50affiliated into the ground is very excluded a lot.
- 1:46:53Sport is not a company to us. The history is that sports are
- 1:46:57financially very supported by the state City Council public
- 1:47:02funds. We want the sport, not your
- 1:47:05specific lifestyle choices. I think that's why many here
- 1:47:09turn to WFP. It's more sport, less licking
- 1:47:13Castro's boots. Just my 2 euro cent.
- 1:47:17So I want to, I love it when people try to infer that you're
- 1:47:20racist because you're white American.
- 1:47:24You've obviously never been to the South.
- 1:47:25Everything that you just expressed as white American is
- 1:47:28also loved by black people, Hispanic people.
- 1:47:32So you called yourself racist without even having to try.
- 1:47:37I, I can't like just turn us off.
- 1:47:47Yeah, You know, you don't have to watch us.
- 1:47:49A real man just watches. Woody wants, unless his wife,
- 1:47:56regardless of culture, unless his wife is watching something
- 1:47:59and then he watches. He probably watch.
- 1:48:01He's watching, he probably wants to watch.
- 1:48:02That's all fine. We do have a very high
- 1:48:05viewership of the women comparatively to other channels.
- 1:48:09Yeah, look, this is the spin, OK?
- 1:48:13We're we're spinnies. That's right.
- 1:48:16Get it right? The the other thing is it's
- 1:48:19like, I don't think we've ever hated on other, like not really
- 1:48:23ever hated on other cultures like of Japanese.
- 1:48:27Gold. I didn't know the.
- 1:48:28Navy and culture, the worst culture we've ever hated on with
- 1:48:30strong women and and and I literally make my living making
- 1:48:37women strong. Not not like that, but you know.
- 1:48:41A different strong. And a healthy way, yeah.
- 1:48:45Let's see at Scottish G. To be fair, CrossFit HQ isn't
- 1:48:50helping themselves to increase participation outside of the US.
- 1:48:54At a time when the government U.S. government is talking about
- 1:48:57using the US military to invade a European nation, being
- 1:49:01sponsored by the US military isn't going to play.
- 1:49:05I'm still signed up, but I would love to see the stats for
- 1:49:09signups out of Denmark. I can pull that.
- 1:49:16I want to. I want to.
- 1:49:19I do remember saying this. I just would like to say.
- 1:49:29Sorry. Nobody ever answered me, so
- 1:49:35that's it. Yeah, I don't what was what was
- 1:49:40the sentiment of that bit again? Sorry I lost.
- 1:49:42Basically the US military is bad so Europeans don't like.
- 1:49:47I can't get my head wrapped around.
- 1:49:49I can't find a good philosophical way to attack that
- 1:49:53that situation. I understand why that upsets
- 1:49:55other people. Why we're American.
- 1:50:00No that. About Trump talking about taking
- 1:50:02over Greenland. Not that them sponsoring the
- 1:50:07games, Air Patrol and and the Border Patrol.
- 1:50:11I understand. I, I mean, maybe it upsets more
- 1:50:14Americans than I really, you know, maybe they don't talk
- 1:50:19about it enough or whatever. We're, it seems weird from an
- 1:50:24American point of view because we are patriotic and like that
- 1:50:28we divorce the president from even the arms of the military
- 1:50:34and all that stuff. So we're supportive of our
- 1:50:37military and our armed forces. And so it is weird for, I think
- 1:50:42you guys loop anybody from Europe loops all that in
- 1:50:44together. It's like, you know, you're
- 1:50:47playing politics and like Trump's skin control, I can't
- 1:50:50believe you support Trump. And it's like it's, it's more
- 1:50:52nuanced than that. I look at it differently.
- 1:50:54I think I have, I think everybody has it backwards.
- 1:50:57OK. The, the, the military divisions
- 1:51:03that are, that are sponsoring the CrossFit Games are doing it
- 1:51:06to attract Crossfitters because that is the best group of people
- 1:51:12to join the military. CrossFit is not paying them.
- 1:51:18The military is paying CrossFit to attract people that do
- 1:51:22CrossFit. And if you want military people,
- 1:51:26that's the that's the subsection you want.
- 1:51:29It's a recruiting tool. Right, they're getting CrossFit.
- 1:51:33Used to recruit military people and now it's being flipped
- 1:51:36around. Right.
- 1:51:37Everybody has it backwards at Daniel Taylor.
- 1:51:40I'm based in the UK and I did the Open last year and got a lot
- 1:51:43of questions for it. I think the reason is twofold.
- 1:51:46Lazar 1 and the second is the media side.
- 1:51:50Except for Pedro at coffee pods and wads.
- 1:51:53Shout out Pedro. All other channels stopped
- 1:51:56covering the games. The perfect explanation of this
- 1:51:59is Craig Ritchie. Oh, they don't have any media
- 1:52:02representation over there. Oh, they're none of their media
- 1:52:06is covering the games, therefore they have less.
- 1:52:09Open side, I mean, think about all of the podcasts that you
- 1:52:12hear about that like that I've translated or whatever.
- 1:52:16It's always talking about World Fitness Project.
- 1:52:18It's never in a positive light of the CrossFit Games, generally
- 1:52:21speaking. Why do you think that is?
- 1:52:25I'm reading all the other reasons like he.
- 1:52:28He's reading the reasons right now.
- 1:52:30Reading. The reasons why they've all kind
- 1:52:31of, they're the same as everybody else.
- 1:52:33It's just that they don't have, and Daniel's belief is that they
- 1:52:39don't have media. People that are watching it are
- 1:52:43being influenced by people. Who say?
- 1:52:46I I don't think this is good. I'm bad.
- 1:52:48I can't do it. I'm out.
- 1:52:49OK, All right. That makes sense.
- 1:52:51That's what I've been listening to.
- 1:52:52All right, I'm gonna go that way too.
- 1:52:54My response to that would be that that is, that is.
- 1:53:01CF Media is now a Grid podcast. Dude he even flew over here for
- 1:53:05a grid thing and he changed. Jason, Yeah.
- 1:53:09Worst suit the whole plane ride. I can't.
- 1:53:11Believe. The plane ride, he.
- 1:53:14Just stays in the suit all the time.
- 1:53:16He doesn't leave it. He is.
- 1:53:18He's got a sleeping suit, a travel suit and then a podcast
- 1:53:21suit. Sleep.
- 1:53:23It's all the same. Listen, the Internet is free,
- 1:53:26man. Like, like you.
- 1:53:29Just those are podcasts. You can watch us anytime you
- 1:53:33want. It doesn't matter where you are.
- 1:53:35That's more of what I'm asking. Like there's no, there's that,
- 1:53:38that that barrier to entry is not there, right?
- 1:53:41So where is the barrier to entry for the Europeans?
- 1:53:44Why are they not like they can come in and, and then like, you
- 1:53:47know, Craig leaving for his own reasons or or whoever?
- 1:53:51Why are they not entering it? And the other thing is like,
- 1:53:55they'd probably stay in if they were more popular.
- 1:54:00Yeah. I mean, I think the, I think the
- 1:54:01more point is that those that there are that have been around
- 1:54:04or the ones that are producing content are of the less CrossFit
- 1:54:09sentiment, anti CrossFit sentiment.
- 1:54:11Like Craig's pretty much walked away from it.
- 1:54:14That was fairly public. But then what is the RX insider
- 1:54:18guy argued with you and one of the comments about how people
- 1:54:23thought about whatever world fitness project or the schedule
- 1:54:26coming out and like it was completely flipped from what
- 1:54:30that is. So like he's putting out WFP
- 1:54:33content. You have some of those that
- 1:54:35Rodgers been on, Brian's been on, like the whole sentiment is
- 1:54:40completely opposite of what? Dude, do you think, do you think
- 1:54:44they look at Brian the way we look at Pedro?
- 1:54:49To elaborate. Like they stole one of ours.
- 1:54:55I don't like Brian I, I think, but I think.
- 1:54:57I know we don't, but I don't think you.
- 1:54:59Explained that well, but I think yes.
- 1:55:03I I like. I wonder if they look at Peter
- 1:55:06the way we look at. Brian Pedro's our European
- 1:55:08correspondent and Brian is their American correspondent, right?
- 1:55:13But they, you know, I wonder if they think Peter's abandoned
- 1:55:17Europe. Maybe that's.
- 1:55:20Why you can't get the 10,000 subscribers?
- 1:55:24I also what, what what do we mean by this son?
- 1:55:29Sean is a shrinker. I don't know what he means what
- 1:55:31he means. I you'd go more in depth into
- 1:55:34what that means. A real man would not be offended
- 1:55:38by that very. Honest, I'm just, I don't.
- 1:55:41It is ominous, that's what I'm saying.
- 1:55:45Lido Callagiani, she was, she participated in the the Barbell
- 1:55:50Spin hashtag last year. And if you guys have not, make
- 1:55:53sure you go into your competition dashboard and sign
- 1:55:57up. One of our many Italians.
- 1:55:59We're over. We're over 400.
- 1:56:00I think so we're we're moving on up.
- 1:56:03Let's see. A lot of European fallout I
- 1:56:05believe was due to local media too that turned hard on
- 1:56:08CrossFit. I live in the UK but follow
- 1:56:10CrossFit media from Italy and Greece and it was largely very
- 1:56:12negative. I believe the same of many other
- 1:56:15countries. If you supported CrossFit, you
- 1:56:18basically felt you felt basically in the minority.
- 1:56:22Once a Jim de affiliates, of course fewer people from there
- 1:56:24are going to do the Open. So all of this, as you
- 1:56:27mentioned, Europeans felt slighted and did not see heads
- 1:56:30fall in CrossFit or generally any consequences for the ones
- 1:56:34they considered responsible. I wonder if it's also a language
- 1:56:41thing that every country has a different language over there.
- 1:56:47You're not going to get as many viewers.
- 1:56:49I could see some of that. I could see some of that like,
- 1:56:53so I'm trying to like cover some of the qualifiers that are
- 1:56:58starting up early and the Lat Am masters.
- 1:57:02Do you know how hard it is to figure out what they're doing
- 1:57:04because they're not super clear on all of their qualifications
- 1:57:08and how many they're taking and all this stuff on top of it
- 1:57:11being in Spanish, right? So I'm trying to translate it
- 1:57:15and it's like not perfectly translated in whatever Google it
- 1:57:17is that tries to translate it. And you're like, what am I
- 1:57:20looking at? And then you try to go to a post
- 1:57:22and it's a picture, not like the caption doesn't fully translate.
- 1:57:26And you know, there's stuff on the picture that you're like, I
- 1:57:28can just read that. And I don't want to go through
- 1:57:30all the mess of translating it with like pictures and stuff.
- 1:57:32It's just a headache to try to do it.
- 1:57:34How many people are not going to try to do that?
- 1:57:36So like how many people in France or Spain or wherever,
- 1:57:43Germany, it's all in English. You haven't.
- 1:57:48If you aren't bilingual then that doesn't come across as
- 1:57:53well. I I do get the sentiment of how
- 1:57:57people could be sick of. Yes, but cross that yes.
- 1:58:07Like pro America, like I, I, I understand how it would be
- 1:58:13annoying to to them because we're the best and.
- 1:58:21I knew there was a catch. I, I mean, Lucy Campbell's about
- 1:58:26to win the game. So I, I, but I, I just, you
- 1:58:29know, America is so proud to be America.
- 1:58:32Well, half of us are. But the, the half like, like,
- 1:58:38and I think that if people get annoyed with that proudness and
- 1:58:45I, I, I understand people getting annoyed with that
- 1:58:48proudness, it's not going to change.
- 1:58:50But I I get it is all I'm saying.
- 1:58:52I think, I think it'd be interesting though, if like
- 1:58:54something I think I heard your theory about, you know, the
- 1:58:57daughters really brought attraction to Europe.
- 1:59:02If Lucy wins does that. Boost it sway anything.
- 1:59:06I think it I think it will, but I but maybe maybe it won't like
- 1:59:12I I might be in the wrong on that.
- 1:59:13I just, I just, I think the games is more pool than people
- 1:59:17than people think. Yeah, and and she, I mean, if
- 1:59:21she wins it and goes on media tours, especially local media
- 1:59:25and stuff like she's going to present very well.
- 1:59:28Great. Like, Lucy's great, and she's
- 1:59:30going to present CrossFit well. Yes, yeah.
- 1:59:33And she's going to talk about everything.
- 1:59:35She's gone. I mean, yeah, she'll do all, all
- 1:59:38the interviews. She'll speak well.
- 1:59:40She'll support CrossFit. Like it it.
- 1:59:42It can't hurt. And it'll take the heat off of
- 1:59:45James because people will hate him.
- 1:59:47Remember Me when you're famous, Lucy.
- 1:59:50Last one actually, Lucy was Lucy got her start on the broadcast
- 1:59:55on our show. Yeah, yeah, Lucy, everything
- 1:59:58you've got 2 of. The pre and post shows in 20230.
- 2:00:02I remember that. You just remember that, Lucy,
- 2:00:04everything that you've ever gotten is because of us.
- 2:00:07That's right, last one. I I was the first one to call
- 2:00:12her to do well, I just it just that is true.
- 2:00:15Oh I we should have brought this up.
- 2:00:17Brian Friend is responsible for John and I existing.
- 2:00:21No, don't be. We can't.
- 2:00:23Let a show go by without reminding people that.
- 2:00:27Don't be bitter about it. We're not going to.
- 2:00:31We're not. We're not going to do that.
- 2:00:32You're lumped in there with helping.
- 2:00:33OK All right. Michelle Barakat.
- 2:00:36Don't do that either. Now I want to talk about it.
- 2:00:40All right, we're we're going to talk to Michelle Barakat.
- 2:00:43I've last one. I've been in my affiliate in
- 2:00:45Paris for five years now. This is a good story.
- 2:00:48The sport is still growing fast here.
- 2:00:50They are about to open the biggest CrossFit box in Paris in
- 2:00:53a few weeks. The old one is staying as well.
- 2:00:57Just feels like home, man. There's a huge community.
- 2:01:00But yeah, last year open registration was at its lowest
- 2:01:04due to the Lazar thing. 80% boycotted.
- 2:01:08However, I think that this year it will go back to normal as the
- 2:01:12Open is really a huge event at our box 200 plus participants.
- 2:01:19Speaking of that, I have some stats for you for the Open
- 2:01:25registration. Open Updates.
- 2:01:27Open Updates As of this morning, we had 40,109 open
- 2:01:33registrations. That's crazy.
- 2:01:35I've heard that's double where we were last year at this time
- 2:01:40last year at the same same period, 21,874, so 84% increase
- 2:01:45over last year. We have 119% versus 2025 first
- 2:01:53timers. So new people are signing up.
- 2:01:55That new people thinks that is the craziest.
- 2:01:58Stuff at this same time last year.
- 2:02:03Who's your guy? I have people.
- 2:02:06Don't wear product. Returning athletes plus 72% in
- 2:02:112025. Very good 2024 quarterfinalists
- 2:02:18returning 455 of them. Traffic to the sites up 44%.
- 2:02:26Social sentiments up 853% over last.
- 2:02:29Year. How are they rating?
- 2:02:30That impressions. It's it's, it's when they search
- 2:02:33like the social media stuff and like whether it's like spoken
- 2:02:37about positively or negatively. That's.
- 2:02:41Now I have a question. So how many open registrants
- 2:02:45were there last year total? 253,000. 235,000.
- 2:02:53Yeah, Yep. Sorry, dyslexia.
- 2:02:55So we're on pace for 400,000. If the 84 pace, the 84%
- 2:03:01continues the trend, we're on pace for 400,000.
- 2:03:04Crushing it. Tyler's page, you said?
- 2:03:06Lower I'm saying I'm taking it under a 400,000.
- 2:03:11That it's going to be over 200 and that's for sure.
- 2:03:14That is true. I think however many people are
- 2:03:17over 200,000. Tyler has to do a calorie on a
- 2:03:20machine. Over what time periods?
- 2:03:25And John will do 33 ring muscle ups for every.
- 2:03:28Person, how about this? How about this?
- 2:03:30How about this? How is meters?
- 2:03:31We'll do meters. Tyler has to bike however many
- 2:03:36meters. Over 200.
- 2:03:37Over 200,000. I want to do something more fun
- 2:03:40than biking. There's only so much you could.
- 2:03:43Do ring muscle off. It's gonna, it's gonna be
- 2:03:46100,000, so at least 100,000. It's gonna be 100 to 200,000.
- 2:03:51So I I was trying to pick the. Calories don't work.
- 2:03:54That would be rough. Calories don't work.
- 2:03:57Meter meters is the only thing that's that's gonna be OK.
- 2:04:01And not running. No, I won't.
- 2:04:04I will do something, but we're going to negotiate what it is
- 2:04:07because I don't like, I just don't want to sit on a bike that
- 2:04:10long. I think we should figure it out
- 2:04:11right now. Out of boredom.
- 2:04:14I've done it before. It's not that bad.
- 2:04:16You can watch movies, you can watch movies.
- 2:04:19It'll. Be a Long Life live stream.
- 2:04:22What about minutes? Hell, holding a plank.
- 2:04:25No. What about seconds holding a
- 2:04:30plank? No.
- 2:04:33What do you what do you think span what can be 200,000?
- 2:04:40Well, I think I'm thinking about 100,000.
- 2:04:44You think it's over? It's so it's 300.
- 2:04:46I think I think 300,000 is in is in range.
- 2:04:49What? OK.
- 2:04:50Do you just want to say total meters across any machine?
- 2:04:55I would consider that over a bike, yeah, 'cause then at least
- 2:04:58I could do different stuff. C2 bikes, way easier to back up.
- 2:05:03The seats you will get them the fastest on a yeah on a bike.
- 2:05:07But I eventually I'm just. Going to be like a rower's half
- 2:05:09as long. Dude it's do you know how long
- 2:05:12100,000 meters it takes? On a bike, Yeah.
- 2:05:16How long? 4 hours.
- 2:05:20But that's four hours. And you're and you're going to
- 2:05:23have double that. Yeah. 8 hours stationary.
- 2:05:27Oh, and that's on the bike. Yeah.
- 2:05:32I would still almost prefer doing.
- 2:05:33If you get the rogue echo ski you could do it.
- 2:05:36That would be fun A. 150,000 meters ski.
- 2:05:40He just could grieve dude. He's get Rabdo or something for
- 2:05:45sure. Was it, was it Con Porter?
- 2:05:48He did a marathon ski? Yeah, I've done a, I've done a,
- 2:05:52I've done 1/2 marathon ski. It's three of those, that's
- 2:05:55what. How bad is that?
- 2:05:56Huh. How bad was that?
- 2:05:59It's pretty brutal. You got to zone out because
- 2:06:01you're just yeah, yeah. Like I think I think Khan threw
- 2:06:05up because of just the the Vertigo.
- 2:06:08Up and down. We'll figure out like we'll what
- 2:06:15we'll do is we'll come up with like calories per double unders,
- 2:06:20double unders. We'll we'll figure out.
- 2:06:23Calves of steel. Calves of steel.
- 2:06:29I kind of. Like like giving a cow or a a
- 2:06:36cow worth so like like one cow ski is worth 5.
- 2:06:40And that way it's like if I could do.
- 2:06:41Murph one cow row is worth 31, cow bike is worth 1.
- 2:06:46And then and then we just figure out however many make the
- 2:06:49people. I was going to expand outside of
- 2:06:52that, like like if I could do Murph, but it was like just
- 2:06:54ridiculous. Like you're just going to do
- 2:06:56Murph for 8 hours? You want to do that?
- 2:06:59Repeat. Yeah, but I want to figure out
- 2:07:01some way to systemize. It Hitler's going to hate you,
- 2:07:07what about Atlanta for 8 hours? That would be fun to like.
- 2:07:10An hour. An hour for every 10,000 you're
- 2:07:12off. A Murph for a Murph for every
- 2:07:17out. A 10,000 You're off.
- 2:07:19It's going to be 10 Murphs. And I just have to do it so
- 2:07:23because what I want to do is I want to do it in one day like I
- 2:07:26wanted, like I just. You're.
- 2:07:28Going to be more effed up than I've been effed up.
- 2:07:33But what about because I'm? Snatching John, are you?
- 2:07:40Are you snatching again? Dude, I'm great.
- 2:07:41I'm 100% healed there. You go.
- 2:07:46I wonder what the world record of Murphs in a day is.
- 2:07:49The guy did it. The guy did it.
- 2:07:53The guy that Hitler, The guy that Andrew made a video about?
- 2:08:00Oh yeah, I don't remember how many that was.
- 2:08:04He he said he's. But he cheat though, no?
- 2:08:07No, no. He said he's going to do
- 2:08:08whatever, but and then Hitler, like, really criticized him that
- 2:08:12that's not what Murphy's about. And then all of his comments got
- 2:08:15flooded like really, really badly and then got the guy ended
- 2:08:19up doing like 12 1/2 Murphs in a day and gets crucified in the
- 2:08:24comments. It was like the biggest way says
- 2:08:26I felt bad for him because like, even if it's like for selfish
- 2:08:29reasons, that's so much stuff for just every comment to be
- 2:08:35like you suck, you're a terrible person.
- 2:08:39You know what I mean? Like that's it's I felt bad for
- 2:08:41him. But anyway.
- 2:08:45All right, guys. Thank you to Bill Grundler.

- 2:09:27ring muscle UPS or whatever torn PEC, whichever comes first.
- 2:09:31I am going to do, I'm going to do the the one up to 1095, but
- 2:09:37I'm going to do 1 to 6 and back down and I I just want to see
- 2:09:42how long I can do it. I bet you make it one time.
- 2:09:47Maybe there's a guy, there's a guy doing this.
- 2:09:51I saw, I saw. But like, he's just like,
- 2:09:54failing. Yeah, but I mean like he's going
- 2:09:57for it. He's been adding reps a week and
- 2:09:59I like, I just like it. I think it's awesome.
- 2:10:03Props to him. I think he needs to do like
- 2:10:04toast the bar. He's been doing pull ups.
- 2:10:08OK, the you can probably do a pull ups, the one to six, back
- 2:10:14down to 1, back up to 6. Back down to 1.
- 2:10:19I think you can make it through 2.
- 2:10:21OK. 2 rounds, 2 up and downs. I think the second round of 6
- 2:10:27gets. How many is that?
- 2:10:28How many is that total? 61.
- 2:10:31Be 21, another 15 is 36 is up and down.
- 2:10:36Yeah, Oh, 36 is up and down South. 72 would be up and down
- 2:10:39twice. Yeah.
- 2:10:41It'd get hairy. It'd get hairy on that last 6 I
- 2:10:43think. Around the 50 mark you start
- 2:10:48freaking out, especially when you're out, especially.
- 2:10:50When you're doing one a minute or six a minute.
- 2:10:53Yeah, 'cause I didn't. It's only, it's only you're
- 2:10:56doing that many in 22 minutes. Yeah, you.
- 2:10:59Come back down to that three, though, that 456 back down to 4
- 2:11:04is going to suck. But then you get to 3 and you're
- 2:11:06like, dude, I got to have forever.
- 2:11:09Dude I didn't I did 4 every 30 seconds and and after like 8
- 2:11:14sets I'm done. I was done and then two felt
- 2:11:19beautiful. Watch me get somewhere crazy and
- 2:11:21be like, I have to just keep it. Like I can't keep the reps, but
- 2:11:24then I just keep going and do the hundred 216.
- 2:11:30Yeah, film it. Yeah, film it.
- 2:11:32I'll watch it. I'll watch it, yeah.
- 2:11:35All right, guys. We'll see you guys next week.
- 2:11:39I apologize to absolutely nobody did.
