  January 31st of this year as she was dropped off at her home by

  her family after a night of dinner and games over at her
• 7:16
  daughter and son in law's house, as I understand it.

  And then the next day, she didn't show up for church.
• 7:24
  And that was out of out of the ordinary for her.

  And that started a a desperate search for Nancy Guthrie.
• 7:38
  A desperate, desperate search. So here we are.

  What are we, Day 59, Day 60, something like that.

  And it feels like we are no closer to finding out what
• 7:52
  happened to Nancy Guthrie now. But like I said in the open, boy

  are there lots of theories. Lots and lots and lots of

  theories. I want to start off with an

  article that I read that actually came out last month

  from WNC and then I want to dig into the data about the

  abduction of the elderly. We've all felt like this isn't
• 8:29
  something that happens all that often and and the data hold up.

  OK, so let's start over here. Come with me over to Adobe

  strange. Experts compare Nancy Guthrie's

  thing, but let's just get into this a little bit.

  The abduction of Nancy Guthrie is putting a spotlight on the

  excruciating uncertainty endured by thousands of families whose

  loved ones go missing each year. Experts see parallels with those

  cases, even as many details in Guthrie's case are unique, from

  the victim's age to her celebrity daughter.

  The circumstances of Guthrie's disappearance are quite

  shocking, says Jesse Goliath, A forensic anthropologist at

  Mississippi State University. Quote usually you hear about

  smaller children, juveniles that go missing and attracting
• 9:43
  national press, Goliath says. But having an older woman who's
• 9:46
  gone missing and having a daughter that you've seen on TV
• 9:49
  everyday is extraordinary, He adds.
• 9:53
  More than 500,000 people were reported missing in the US last
• 9:57
  year, according to the Justice Department.
• 9:59
  But just see what that. Yeah.

  But Tara Kennedy, media representative for the Doe
• 10:05
  Network, a volunteer group working to identify missing and
• 10:08
  unidentified persons, says high profile kidnappings are rare.

  Quote I can't remember the last time I heard about a ransom case

  besides Guthrie, says Kennedy, who has worked with the Doe
• 10:20
  Network since 2014, continuing the quote.

  I always associate them with different periods in American
• 10:27
  history like the Lindbergh kidnapping, not someone's mother
• 10:30
  from the Today show close quote and that's something that we've
• 10:33
  all felt, right. This is weird.

  This is something that happens in the 30s.
• 10:38
  Both Kennedy and Goliath described the Guthrie case as
• 10:41
  strange. And then it goes into a, you
• 10:46
  know, the why things are unusual, OK?
• 10:50
  From June 2020 to June 2025, women comprised more than 75% of
• 10:56
  the victims in some 240,000 cases of kidnappings or
• 11:01
  abductions that were reported in the US, according to FBI crime
• 11:04
  data. We are going to go to those, OK?
• 11:07
  But of those, only 646 women were in their 80s, like Nancy
• 11:13
  Guthrie, who was 84, or less than 0.2% of all victims.
• 11:19
  Compare that to the age group that accounted for the largest
• 11:21
  number of victims that year. Well, not that year, right?
• 11:29
  Those years, people 20 to 29, who made-up just shy of 30% of
• 11:35
  victims. Other highly unusual revelations
• 11:39
  have emerged as her disappearance has persisted,
• 11:41
  from purported ransom notes sent to media outlets demanding
• 11:44
  millions of dollars to unsettling images of masked
• 11:47
  gunmen approaching Guthrie's front door on the night she
• 11:50
  disappeared. Taken together, it's like
• 11:52
  something out of a true crime novel.
• 11:55
  I think that she miss or he misspoke there.
• 11:57
  Out of a crime novel, Goliath says.

  That's something unheard of and then you know it, it just it
• 12:05
  just keeps on going. So let let me bring up the FBI
• 12:09
  data here. I have that open on on my
• 12:14
  browser here. I've put AI put a link to this.

  This is the FBI's crime data explorer.

  You can see over here on the left.

  I've put in kidnapping, abduction as the crime, the
• 12:26
  location set being the United States and the last five years.

  OK, so looking at the victim age over here, 20 to 29 is by far
• 12:38
  the biggest group. Then 30 to 39, then 10 to 19,
• 12:43
  then 40 to 49, zero to 9, then 50 to 5960 to 6970 to 79.

  Then comes unknown and then comes 80 to 89, which is 0%,
• 12:55
  which we know from the article it's 0.2% and 90 and older.
• 12:59
  It just does not, it just doesn't happen right out of
• 13:04
  everything. And how many does it say out of
• 13:08
  247,046 offenses, 646 are for octogenarians, right?
• 13:19
  United States clearance rate by the way, on that is 140,000.
• 13:23
  So that that you know, I remember we talk, we, I remember
• 13:30
  talking about missing persons cases and how they, they are
• 13:34
  mostly solved, but this looks more like about half of them get
• 13:38
  solved. Well, a little more than half,
• 13:41
  right? Or at least over the last five
• 13:43
  years. Offender age tends to skew young
• 13:47
  too. 31% are 30 to 3930% are 20 to 29.

  So, you know, under the age of 40 accounts for 61% of
• 13:59
  offenders. Couple couple other things that
• 14:03
  I found really interesting. You know, 64% of victims are
• 14:08
  abducted from their home and the biggest category of you know,
• 14:17
  victims relationship to offender is boyfriend, girlfriend, right?
• 14:22
  A stranger is only 10%, acquaintance 9% ex relationship
• 14:29
  like an ex-boyfriend, ex-girlfriend, maybe ex-spouse
• 14:31
  8%. In this case, it it appears that
• 14:36
  at least according to Sheriff Nanos, there's a picture of good
• 14:40
  the good Sheriff. Sheriff Nanos.

  It's not a family member. The family members have all been
• 14:48
  cleared, according to sheriff. Couple of other things, right?
• 14:54
  So a handgun being used in the offense.
• 14:58
  We have seen of course, from the videos that there is a handgun
• 15:05
  being used in this offense worn weirdly, dangling in front of
• 15:11
  other dangly bits. But a handgun was used in this
• 15:16
  one. And that only happens about 7%
• 15:20
  of the time. There's a fence linked to other
• 15:25
  offense, simple assault, aggravated assault, destruction,
• 15:27
  damage, vandalism of property, robbery, we'll call that SA,
• 15:33
  right? I, I would imagine that this one
• 15:36
  probably I, I don't know that it's linked.
• 15:39
  Well, it's definitely linked to an aggravated assault.
• 15:42
  I mean, we've got blood on the, on the front doorstep and we
• 15:46
  have a gun. I would imagine that is an
• 15:48
  aggravating factor, but I don't think that I don't think that
• 15:54
  this characteristics, that they're this characteristic that
• 15:57
  they're showing us here tells us that it begins with that crime,
• 16:02
  just that it also involves that crime.

  So 23% of the time there's an aggravated assault as part of
• 16:11
  the deal. So, yeah, this is a interesting,
• 16:15
  interesting website, by the way. I suggest anybody who's into

  crime take a look at the data. You can download the data and

  they've got it going way, way, way, way, way back, right?

  All the way what, 1985, I guess this goes back.

  So definitely check that out. But going back to the, the

  article, right, the article that we were that we're reading this

  is shocking and strange that an 84 year old woman would be
• 16:53
  kidnapped from her home after an assault with a handgun.

  It's it's just strange. And I'm starting to believe that

  maybe the assaulters didn't realize just how fragile, just
• 17:13
  how fragile their victim is or was I hope is, but probably was.

  I mean, I saw a case recently. Well, it was in the news

  recently, but the case happened five years ago of a of a guy
• 17:28
  attacking an 85 year old man in San Francisco, I think it was.
• 17:33
  And the the man fell down and it caused his death.

  He died. You know, I've, I've also seen
• 17:41
  ones where what would we call them, shoplifters running out of
• 17:48
  like a Walmart or Target trying to be intercepted by the greeter
• 17:52
  who is in their 70s or 80s being knocked over and eventually, you
• 17:57
  know, if they lose their life over the fall.

  So I, I wonder if the perpetrator or perpetrators, I
• 18:07
  think it's perpetrators, understood just how fragile
• 18:12
  their victim was. Did they take her thinking we're
• 18:16
  going to get a ransom here and have her die early on and then
• 18:24
  not be able to not like, be panicked and everything like
• 18:30
  that? And that reminds me of the next

  article that I want to bring to you guys, this from the Sunday

  Guardian, written by Nisha Srivastava, Nancy Guthrie case

  latest update are ransom notes fake apology letter theory adds

  twist I'm adding in here, this is a theory, right?

  This is all it is, is a theory at this point.

  But we did learn from Savannah Guthrie that she thought that at

  least two of the ransom letters were real in her interview on

  NBC. So of course, she said the

  others, those people need to take a good hard look at their

  lives. Why would they add extra pain to

  a victim's family? But let's get into Nisha's

  story. The search for Nancy Guthrie,

  who has been missing since January 31st, has now continued

  for over 2 months. Well, it's March 31st.

  So Anisha, it is exactly 2 months.

  As the investigation progresses, new speculation has surfaced

  suggesting that a second alleged ransom note could actually be an
• 19:41
  apology letter claiming the 84 year old has died.

  Authorities are still actively working the case, examining

  every possible lead. What sparked the latest
• 19:51
  speculation? Hmm.

  The recent claims gained attention during the March 28th
• 19:57
  episode of The Megyn Kelly Show, where Megyn Kelly spoke with

  former FBI Supervisory Special Agent James Hamilton and

  investigator Maureen O'Connell. Kelly referred to a social media

  post which reportedly stated, quote, I now have two sources

  confirming that one of the letters sent to the media in the

  Nancy Guthrie case allegedly states the sender apologized,

  claiming they did not know how serious her heart condition was
• 20:26
  and that she has gone to be with God.

  Despite these claims, former FBI official James Hamilton raised

  doubts about whether the ransom notes are genuine.

  He suggested that such messages could be part of a scam

  targeting vulnerable families. This is important, guys.

  The Nancy Guthrie case is an extreme example, right?

  It's an extreme example, but this is a vulnerable segment of

  our population, our elderly, our parents, our grandparents.

  This is a vulnerable segment of society and we need to think in

  terms of protecting them from terrible people.

  we also, I mean, there are horrible.

  but it's from a musician or a band crying out loud like these.

  These posts are just designed to get people to click and comment

  on them. Please don't fall for that

  stuff. Say to yourself, be be put on
