- Cindy Marler: Good morning, everyone. Let's talk about money today. So, one of the under talked about things about money is just the ability to earn more money. And I get really passionate about talking about that because I feel like we get a lot of coaching on how to save money, how not to spend, how to be responsible. And all that is well and good. But who's coaching us on how to earn more? So I just want to give you a thought, just something to just toss around in your head today. If you committed to earning an extra $1,000 a year, $1,000 a year, that's it. In the entire year, if you committed to earning an extra $1,000 a year and then invested it your whole life, that's it. You just committed, found a little side gig, maybe twice a year at a Christmas fair or summer festival. You sold something and made $1,000 a year and then took that thousand and invested it. That's it. At the end of your 40 years, about when you're retiring in your 60s, you would have a little over $400,000. $400,000 from simply thinking about earning an additional $1,000 a year and investing it. Because money is just like everything else. A little bit every day makes a big difference. Money works the same as this podcast. If you do something just for today and then you do it every day, it reaps big, big, big dividends. And the average American has less than $400,000 in their retirement when they retire. So the average person is not doing this. We are going to be above average because you've already committed to listening to this podcast. So think of ways throughout your life that you could earn an extra $1,000 a year. It's about $80 something dollars a month. And then think about if I just did that and then invested it. You could resell things. I mean, my gosh, you could just ask for a raise, maybe where you work. Or take on a couple extra shifts. How many shifts would you have to work? Or what do you do where you'd have to work to make an additional thousand dollars in your job a year? Or if you work somewhere where there's a I mean, if you live somewhere where there's a high season, there's always seasonal jobs. You know, you can get jobs just over like Christmas break. There's always people that want additional labor for just those two weeks. You can get a job just for those two weeks a year. So if you went and worked somewhere for two weeks a year at a Christmas place where it was popular for Christmas and earned an additional thousand dollars and put it away every single year. You'd have over $400,000 by the time you retire. It really is just that simple, guys, if you did it just for today.
