- 0:00Speaker 1: She's on the Money.
- 0:02Speaker 2: She's on the Money.
- 0:17Speaker 1: Hello and welcome to She's on the Money, the podcast
- 0:20Speaker 1: for millennials who want financial freedom, and this episode of
- 0:24Speaker 1: She's on the Money, as you guys probably have anticipated
- 0:27Speaker 1: given the title of the episode is our Friday Drinks
- 0:29Speaker 1: episode where we get to say cheers to our entire community.
- 0:33Speaker 1: So this week on She's on the Money, we did
- 0:35Speaker 1: a deep dive all about salary packaging with the one
- 0:38Speaker 1: and only Georgia King. We talked about tax benefits, super
- 0:41Speaker 1: benefits and all of the things to be wary of.
- 0:44Speaker 1: And on Monday, we had an incredible guest, one of
- 0:48Speaker 1: our first real life money diarists that wasn't anonymous, and
- 0:52Speaker 1: that was Dara, who is also known as DJ Tiger.
- 0:55Speaker 3: Lily Us add that the money diarists are in fact real.
- 0:58Speaker 1: Life all right, yeah, yeah, good call. But like our
- 1:01Speaker 1: money dirests are usually anonymous, and this is one of
- 1:04Speaker 1: our first non anonymous money diarists, which I think was
- 1:07Speaker 1: really brave. And she came into the studio and she was,
- 1:10Speaker 1: honestly one of the most articulate women I have ever met.
- 1:14Speaker 1: Such a boss, Oh my gosh, such a boss. Honestly,
- 1:17Speaker 1: beautiful could not stop staring at her. But she talked
- 1:19Speaker 1: about how she saved more than twenty thousand dollars on
- 1:22Speaker 1: a car, how she personally would never buy a car
- 1:24Speaker 1: brand new. She talked about all of her multiple income
- 1:27Speaker 1: streams that she generates from social media and also from
- 1:31Speaker 1: being a DJ, and what she's done during COVID, and
- 1:34Speaker 1: she talked about being taken seriously as a business woman,
- 1:36Speaker 1: which obviously was something that I was like, yes, this
- 1:38Speaker 1: so resonates with me. But moving on Friday Drinks episode
- 1:43Speaker 1: this week, Georgia King, you're here, Hello, hi friend, Oh
- 1:47Speaker 1: Jesse Garci. As always, We've got Ryan John good evening,
- 1:51Speaker 1: You're on the decks. A lot of people dm us
- 1:53Speaker 1: this week saying that they really liked your music at
- 1:56Speaker 1: the end of last week's Friday Drinks and requested to
- 1:59Speaker 1: keep it well.
- 2:00Speaker 3: There was fights about how much legally we could do,
- 2:02Speaker 3: but after Georgie did one of the great Harry stars,
- 2:06Speaker 3: I thought it was only fair to for Harry to
- 2:08Speaker 3: play us out.
- 2:09Speaker 1: Thank you, Harry. We did definitely take that completely realty free.
- 2:13Speaker 1: But speaking of royalty, that was good, right, that was good.
- 2:19Speaker 1: We have co founder of up bank, Domim is joining us,
- 2:24Speaker 1: which I am so excited about because obviously we like
- 2:27Speaker 1: up bank, but you know what we like more than
- 2:29Speaker 1: up Bank people who create banks. Kind of cool, right,
- 2:32Speaker 1: kind of cool, kind of green.
- 2:35Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm so excited to get street cred.
- 2:37Speaker 3: When you say I'm the CEO of a bank, does
- 2:38Speaker 3: that you know the people?
- 2:40Speaker 1: Yeah, there's a fair bit of street cred there.
- 2:44Speaker 2: Technically I'm not the CEO.
- 2:46Speaker 1: If you've just hired a new c.
- 2:49Speaker 2: It's top secret. I don't think we've publicly no download.
- 2:52Speaker 1: They've just up. It's not dom.
- 2:57Speaker 3: So what do you They can do all the new
- 3:00Speaker 3: gritty ceo stuff so you can just get back to
- 3:01Speaker 3: having fun and making it great.
- 3:03Speaker 2: Yeah, I think not much will change really, but we've
- 3:05Speaker 2: just been scaling. I've just been growing and need to
- 3:07Speaker 2: share it around, share the love. There's so much to do,
- 3:10Speaker 2: so you can't do everything yourself.
- 3:12Speaker 1: I love that.
- 3:13Speaker 3: Now, are we giving away some more of your money?
- 3:15Speaker 3: You've hired a CEO. Yes, and that's not cheap either.
- 3:17Speaker 3: We're giving away hep you cash. What are we up
- 3:19Speaker 3: to with that?
- 3:20Speaker 1: So this week we actually get to give away a
- 3:22Speaker 1: total of five thousand dollars, which that's a lot of
- 3:25Speaker 1: dollar rus. I'd also like to just point out that
- 3:27Speaker 1: I tried to payment request that from you earlier. Dom
- 3:30Speaker 1: there's a payment limit of one thousand dollars on the app,
- 3:33Speaker 1: so I'm going to have to send you five different
- 3:35Speaker 1: payments with five different memes, and I'm we're king on that.
- 3:38Speaker 1: So we'll pay that as soon as this episode has finished.
- 3:41Speaker 1: But we have picked our hundred winners, haven't we? Absolutely
- 3:43Speaker 1: have you got one from the least that you thought
- 3:46Speaker 1: was one of your favorites. Because it wasn't just me
- 3:48Speaker 1: going through this, The whole team had a bit of
- 3:49Speaker 1: a laugh.
- 3:50Speaker 2: It was very difficult to choose because there were so
- 3:52Speaker 2: many and they're awesome, like people actually went to effort.
- 3:55Speaker 2: It wasn't just a you know, I'm going to get
- 3:56Speaker 2: fifty bucks or something. It was like actually telling real
- 3:59Speaker 2: sort of stories about what they deserve the moment.
- 4:01Speaker 1: It was really hard and we got so many requests
- 4:04Speaker 1: and then we only got to choose a hundred of them,
- 4:06Speaker 1: which are the time I was like, Jess, how are
- 4:08Speaker 1: you going to pick a hundred of these easily? Because
- 4:12Speaker 1: we enjoyed the process so much, I.
- 4:14Speaker 4: Felt like Oprah, like you get fifty dollars.
- 4:17Speaker 1: We like mini Oprahs, but like definitely not nearly as
- 4:20Speaker 1: cool and not nearly as generous, but we're trying, right,
- 4:23Speaker 1: It's all about the thought that count. Yeah, we're all
- 4:26Speaker 1: starting somewhere. I love it. I love it. One of
- 4:29Speaker 1: my favorite ones was actually really timely because obviously Easter
- 4:32Speaker 1: has just happened, and they said that they're planning to
- 4:35Speaker 1: buy all the Easter chocolate at fifty percent off, which
- 4:38Speaker 1: obviously your money.
- 4:38Speaker 4: Win person after my own heart.
- 4:40Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly. And what did we do this week, Jess,
- 4:43Speaker 1: I don't know what you want to say. We bought
- 4:45Speaker 1: discount Easter, did we not?
- 4:48Speaker 4: Yes? Yes, yes, I.
- 4:49Speaker 1: Don't know why that didn't come to mind so much sugar,
- 4:52Speaker 1: it's not funny.
- 4:54Speaker 4: I stopped the office this week. We've said half price
- 4:56Speaker 4: Easter chocolate. That money wan wasn't me. But I'm on
- 4:59Speaker 4: the same way, like there's you we.
- 5:00Speaker 1: Are, which is why we pitched that as one of
- 5:02Speaker 1: the limners. So if that was yours, because it's had
- 5:05Speaker 1: very high levels of privacy and security, which is obvious.
- 5:08Speaker 1: But they couldn't give us your names, but we just
- 5:10Speaker 1: have your your lists.
- 5:12Speaker 4: I've decided your name was Stan chocolate person.
- 5:14Speaker 1: Thank you Stan, Thank you Stan for coming along.
- 5:17Speaker 2: And I said it was hard to pick. But I
- 5:18Speaker 2: actually one of them really resonated with me because we
- 5:22Speaker 2: actually live in my wife's grandparents' house. Grandpa built the
- 5:26Speaker 2: house and we've got all these old lemon trees and
- 5:28Speaker 2: cumquats and grapefruits and all sorts of things. And someone
- 5:31Speaker 2: wrote in saying that they'd say they never going to
- 5:33Speaker 2: buy a lemon again because they bought a house and
- 5:36Speaker 2: the house has.
- 5:36Speaker 3: A lemon try.
- 5:39Speaker 1: That's cool, but my fifty dollars going to help you
- 5:41Speaker 1: never buy a lemon again.
- 5:43Speaker 2: They bought a house instead, And yeah, okay.
- 5:45Speaker 1: All right. I love that they can buy like a
- 5:47Speaker 1: fancy lemon juice or.
- 5:48Speaker 2: Some Well, they're saying that they're actually freezing the lemon
- 5:51Speaker 2: juice because they can't they can't get through that many lemons.
- 5:54Speaker 2: There's so many. So that's very clever, that's so smart.
- 5:56Speaker 4: Wait wait, wait, what do you do with the frozen
- 5:58Speaker 4: lemon juice? So different? I guess you just like live
- 6:02Speaker 4: it up.
- 6:03Speaker 1: Okay, sorry, I overthought it, Like what do they.
- 6:06Speaker 3: Do with frozen I'm going to go on the record
- 6:09Speaker 3: and say that's one of the great First world problems,
- 6:10Speaker 3: having too many lemons so expensive, use them all the time.
- 6:14Speaker 3: So boohoo to her.
- 6:15Speaker 1: I'm into my Mum's on the weekend and I came
- 6:18Speaker 1: home with an entire shopping bag of lemons. So if
- 6:20Speaker 1: you guys want some, I'll bring some into the office.
- 6:23Speaker 2: Well as a bonus. The lemon rhymes are used as
- 6:26Speaker 2: Easter treats.
- 6:28Speaker 4: Really, I don't know, like a little lemon cake or something.
- 6:32Speaker 2: Maybe well that's what their community member said. That's what
- 6:34Speaker 2: they did. They made candied lemon rygin. The good would
- 6:38Speaker 2: that be?
- 6:39Speaker 4: That's like a triple money winning, such a good one.
- 6:41Speaker 1: I love that. I'm not that creative.
- 6:43Speaker 4: If you submitted a payment request, keep an eye on
- 6:45Speaker 4: your bank account because Victoria Devine is going to be
- 6:47Speaker 4: swiping away answering all of your payment requests. One hundred people,
- 6:51Speaker 4: fifty bucks is.
- 6:52Speaker 1: Coming your way literally this morning, which I'm so excited about.
- 6:55Speaker 1: We get to play Oprah, guys, all right, So segueing
- 6:59Speaker 1: into the community's favorite segment, which I didn't even know
- 7:02Speaker 1: was going to become the community's favorite segment, And that
- 7:05Speaker 1: is what is that? Ryan?
- 7:08Speaker 3: It's today, It's the top ten wins of the week.
- 7:11Speaker 3: It's crying because there's so many good ones. Sorry, we
- 7:13Speaker 3: didn't make it.
- 7:14Speaker 1: All right, So are we going in ascending or descending
- 7:16Speaker 1: order this time or no order? Clever works for us
- 7:21Speaker 1: a person, and I just want to have some level
- 7:23Speaker 1: of structure.
- 7:24Speaker 3: Even asked that.
- 7:25Speaker 1: Okay, I'm sorry. It also stresses me up that there's
- 7:27Speaker 1: never any consistency in the number, like one week at seven,
- 7:31Speaker 1: one week at six. This week he's decided it's ten.
- 7:34Speaker 3: What if it just becomes the best money wins of
- 7:36Speaker 3: the week.
- 7:36Speaker 1: Okay, that seems reasonable. That makes my heart very happy,
- 7:39Speaker 1: all right.
- 7:40Speaker 3: Taylor says, mine's a loss and a win. Her straightener
- 7:44Speaker 3: passed away her hair straight Yeah, hard time, so she
- 7:48Speaker 3: went to purchase a new one. The woman at the
- 7:50Speaker 3: shop gave her a thirty dollars discount and free shampool
- 7:53Speaker 3: and conditioner because they both have curly hair, and she
- 7:55Speaker 3: felt her pain. All right. Jackie says money. When I
- 8:03Speaker 3: was going to purchase a new chest of draws. They
- 8:06Speaker 3: can be really expensive as well. I don't know if
- 8:07Speaker 3: you've shopped for those, but no, no one anyone bought
- 8:12Speaker 3: am I just at the stage of my life when
- 8:13Speaker 3: I'm buying chests of draws and I'm really sad.
- 8:15Speaker 1: And like, no, no, no, they can actually be so
- 8:17Speaker 1: spino if you don't shop at Ikea. I was gonna
- 8:20Speaker 1: say mine came from Ikeas I still have an Ikea one.
- 8:23Speaker 1: We are winners.
- 8:25Speaker 3: I decided to wait twenty four hours before making a purchase,
- 8:28Speaker 3: then realize I just needed to tighten a few screws
- 8:30Speaker 3: and I could keep using the one I already have. Okay,
- 8:33Speaker 3: and fifty dollars saved.
- 8:35Speaker 1: I love that, but I also question why it took
- 8:37Speaker 1: you that long for workout that you need to tighten
- 8:39Speaker 1: the screws.
- 8:40Speaker 3: Well, we're not here to judge, Jackie. We're just trying
- 8:42Speaker 3: to say three hundred and fifty dollars eight all right now?
- 8:45Speaker 3: Jess loves this one sick because I saw you commenting again,
- 8:50Speaker 3: I love It's Like.
- 8:50Speaker 4: My favorite part of Money Wints thirty is when you
- 8:52Speaker 4: guys put them and I just go through and look
- 8:54Speaker 4: at them all and literally respond to It.
- 8:56Speaker 1: Actually makes me so happy when I see you guys,
- 8:58Speaker 1: like on a Saturday or so day getting involved and
- 9:00Speaker 1: I'm like, you don't have to do that, and you're like,
- 9:02Speaker 1: oh yeah, But like it was really cool, and I
- 9:04Speaker 1: just love that you're so engaged in the community.
- 9:07Speaker 3: Savonne says, my daughter peer pressured me into buying some quails.
- 9:11Speaker 2: I love.
- 9:11Speaker 1: This is so good.
- 9:15Speaker 4: What's that going to do with anybody?
- 9:17Speaker 3: Okay, okay, we spend one hundred dollars on a massive
- 9:19Speaker 3: cage for them, but the cage is too big, so
- 9:21Speaker 3: I guess we need to buy more quails now. But
- 9:26Speaker 3: I guess we'll have more quail eggs coming soon, so
- 9:28Speaker 3: I guess that will be a win.
- 9:30Speaker 4: I'm getting out as a win quail win, absolutely, my mate.
- 9:34Speaker 1: Why do you always like the left field ones so much?
- 9:37Speaker 4: The weird ones just really do it for me.
- 9:40Speaker 3: What really made this weird for me is that she
- 9:43Speaker 3: was peer pressured by her own daughter.
- 9:45Speaker 1: Is that buy some quails?
- 9:47Speaker 3: But is peer pressure? Because that's something you can get
- 9:49Speaker 3: from a child.
- 9:50Speaker 1: We don't have kids, but dom I feel like you
- 9:52Speaker 1: have experienced here. Can you be peer pressured by a minor.
- 9:56Speaker 2: Especially when they're twelve year old girls?
- 10:00Speaker 1: Okay, and we don't have context on age. Could you
- 10:03Speaker 1: be peer pressured into buying quails?
- 10:05Speaker 2: Probably not quails, but I was thinking they could eat
- 10:07Speaker 2: the quails too.
- 10:08Speaker 5: Okay, after providing such a generous spread of gluten free
- 10:16Speaker 5: and vegan food, you suggest on my podcast that we're
- 10:19Speaker 5: going to eat the quakes.
- 10:22Speaker 1: Okay.
- 10:22Speaker 2: Actually, all my life I had a pet duck. So
- 10:25Speaker 2: when I was a kid, I had a pet duck, Daniel,
- 10:29Speaker 2: and he saved our house from a burglar. Yeah, it's
- 10:33Speaker 2: a real true story.
- 10:34Speaker 1: I want to hear his story.
- 10:35Speaker 2: And he was on the front page of the Herald Sun.
- 10:39Speaker 1: Daniel, you legends.
- 10:40Speaker 2: So he used to like pecked people's toes, and the
- 10:42Speaker 2: burglar jumped over the fence and had no shoes, and
- 10:45Speaker 2: Daniel like went straight for him. And so my mum
- 10:47Speaker 2: actually got a carving knife and held the burglar at
- 10:50Speaker 2: ransom while the police came. And then the police came
- 10:52Speaker 2: and they took the burglar back outside so that he
- 10:54Speaker 2: could show where he was breaking in or whatever, and
- 10:56Speaker 2: the duck went for his toes again, and so the
- 10:58Speaker 2: policeman tipped off a journa and then the journo came
- 11:00Speaker 2: out took photos of me in the dark and everything,
- 11:02Speaker 2: and ended up on the front page of the Herald Sound.
- 11:04Speaker 1: Can we take that up? Where can we find my
- 11:06Speaker 1: mum has it?
- 11:08Speaker 3: Yes?
- 11:09Speaker 1: Also, why is a character up not a duck called Daniel?
- 11:13Speaker 2: It should be, but I'll tell you what happened.
- 11:14Speaker 1: He can be in charge of security, absolutely.
- 11:18Speaker 2: But when I when I grew up Daniel, actually I
- 11:22Speaker 2: gave him to a friend when I moved overseas. He
- 11:24Speaker 2: did eventually pass away. So we got a new duck
- 11:27Speaker 2: and we went out to Coldstream, little town near Little Dale.
- 11:30Speaker 2: Gorgeous and we got one day old duckling and we
- 11:34Speaker 2: called it Daphne. And she's gorgeous but really sad. Foxes
- 11:38Speaker 2: attacked and so she was probably about six years old
- 11:41Speaker 2: and then we lost out to Foxes.
- 11:44Speaker 1: Six sounds good she was.
- 11:45Speaker 2: How long did Daniel was sixteen when I gave.
- 11:50Speaker 3: So? Did they did the robber end up going to jail?
- 11:54Speaker 3: I don't think so, okay, because I was just imagining
- 11:56Speaker 3: in jail how much street cred you would not have?
- 11:59Speaker 3: Or how did you get? Caught? It dark? So to
- 12:02Speaker 3: peck my toes and it.
- 12:04Speaker 1: Was all over darkness? Small whoopen with a knife?
- 12:08Speaker 3: All right? Um, Charlotte Jane said, I got flights. Now,
- 12:12Speaker 3: this is a controversial one, and I don't know if
- 12:14Speaker 3: it's true. I've heard it is, but I'm not sure.
- 12:17Speaker 3: I got flights from Melbourne to Adelaide for one hundred
- 12:20Speaker 3: dollars return, which is great while we wait. The reason
- 12:24Speaker 3: it was so cheap is because I did it with
- 12:26Speaker 3: my phone and not on my laptop. What is that
- 12:29Speaker 3: a real thing?
- 12:30Speaker 1: How does that wear?
- 12:31Speaker 4: Is it potentially cookies?
- 12:33Speaker 3: Well, that's why it's like obviously the how it's coming
- 12:36Speaker 3: through to the website can dictate what price and stuff are.
- 12:38Speaker 3: But Dom Mardine, you probably know more tech stuff than us.
- 12:40Speaker 3: Is that possible?
- 12:42Speaker 2: It's possible, It's not plausible, rights different, don't think it.
- 12:47Speaker 3: So it's just one of these like wives tales or no.
- 12:49Speaker 2: Look, it's possible, you know, as you're saying, it's a
- 12:52Speaker 2: new device, and so maybe they're offering a special deal
- 12:56Speaker 2: to certain locations or certain devices or whatever. That's that's possible.
- 13:00Speaker 2: It's more likely they had some sort of discount code
- 13:02Speaker 2: or they were logged into some service.
- 13:04Speaker 1: Or something and they just didn't owe it, or like
- 13:06Speaker 1: in app purchases, right, like I know with Sephora, for example,
- 13:09Speaker 1: which you probably have absolutely no experience, but they always
- 13:13Speaker 1: say they'll give you an extra discount if you book
- 13:15Speaker 1: through the app because they want you to download the
- 13:17Speaker 1: app and then like function on it, which is interesting.
- 13:20Speaker 1: That's also why I always go incognito when I need
- 13:23Speaker 1: to book flights or hotels because I'm scared of my cookies. Yeah,
- 13:28Speaker 1: I'm scared of it.
- 13:29Speaker 2: Might be a real thing that That's what I'm saying.
- 13:30Speaker 2: They might have been using a particular app, or they
- 13:32Speaker 2: might have had some discount code or something. But yeah,
- 13:35Speaker 2: that's a bit sus.
- 13:37Speaker 3: Money, all right. Naomi Holland says, money win.
- 13:40Speaker 1: Where's the music? Thank you?
- 13:43Speaker 4: I'm going who listen to you?
- 13:44Speaker 3: Not me?
- 13:47Speaker 1: That's what having power feels like.
- 13:49Speaker 3: When have I ever not listened to you?
- 13:50Speaker 4: Right then? When I said where the music?
- 13:52Speaker 1: You didn't hold on? When she called you, you didn't answer.
- 13:55Speaker 1: In point two seconds later I called in you answered.
- 13:58Speaker 3: I was on another call. Hey, Naomi one says money win.
- 14:01Speaker 3: We refinanced our home loan with a different bank. Interest
- 14:05Speaker 3: rates dropped from three point nine to one point nine four.
- 14:09Speaker 3: Also got four thousand dollars cash for moving back. That's you.
- 14:14Speaker 1: But what she doing with the cash?
- 14:16Speaker 3: Do you actually get it in cash? It as a
- 14:17Speaker 3: goal against your loan or depends on the deal.
- 14:20Speaker 1: On the deal and what it is because some of
- 14:21Speaker 1: them have the caveat that it comes on a visa
- 14:23Speaker 1: gift card.
- 14:24Speaker 3: Oh that's not that's not on. Just keep it.
- 14:27Speaker 1: Yeah, that's not on.
- 14:29Speaker 3: Brie says KFC had free delivery all Easter weekend, so
- 14:34Speaker 3: I saved them the delivery fee. Gets that the money.
- 14:37Speaker 3: Well done. This is from my money.
- 14:43Speaker 1: Yeah, this is definitely okay.
- 14:45Speaker 3: I just wanted to know I've picked the right I'm
- 14:48Speaker 3: glad that.
- 14:48Speaker 1: The KFC branding really attracted you and was remembered by you.
- 14:52Speaker 3: Hey, they saw me, they know their audience. All right,
- 14:56Speaker 3: money win. Yesterday, this is Adelaide s I'm gonna go
- 15:00Speaker 3: on down a limon say. That's probably not her real name,
- 15:02Speaker 3: but that's her name on Facebook, Adelaide. Madelaide says, yesterday
- 15:06Speaker 3: I officially paid off my personal debt, which got to
- 15:08Speaker 3: nineteen thousand dollars. It's now all paid off and all
- 15:12Speaker 3: my money is now my own.
- 15:14Speaker 4: Yes, that is such a good feeling. As someone who
- 15:17Speaker 4: also has had personal debt, there is no better feeling.
- 15:20Speaker 3: Nineteen grand that would feel nice in theirs says I
- 15:24Speaker 3: just changed our gas and electricity. I looked at the
- 15:26Speaker 3: government website because it's not biased and doesn't have paid rankings.
- 15:30Speaker 1: They have been listening to the Shoes on the Money community.
- 15:33Speaker 3: With that tip, we saved six hundred dollars a year.
- 15:38Speaker 1: Six money win.
- 15:42Speaker 3: Kerry Howard says, bought a house last week. That's a win.
- 15:46Speaker 3: Well done.
- 15:47Speaker 1: That's a pretty epic And can you people underestimate how
- 15:50Speaker 1: hard buying a house is nowadays?
- 15:53Speaker 3: The prices in the last like four weeks have like
- 15:56Speaker 3: doubled in Melbourne.
- 15:57Speaker 1: This will be the second podcast today I have given
- 16:00Speaker 1: in this example. But the house got auctioned off, or
- 16:03Speaker 1: a townhouse across the road from me went for four
- 16:05Speaker 1: hundred thousand dollars over reserve.
- 16:09Speaker 4: That's what it's like, a whole nother house.
- 16:10Speaker 1: That's a whole nother house you could have purchased.
- 16:13Speaker 2: Literally, I'm actually buying back the house that we originally
- 16:16Speaker 2: a first house that we bought. The people are moving
- 16:20Speaker 2: out and we were just you know, we were just
- 16:22Speaker 2: there one time and just got chatting to them and
- 16:23Speaker 2: they're like they're going to put it on the market
- 16:25Speaker 2: and sell it, and I want to buy it back.
- 16:27Speaker 2: That our first house. How cool? And we designed or
- 16:30Speaker 2: we demolished what was there. We didn't acually demolished it
- 16:33Speaker 2: got it got chopped up and put on a truck
- 16:35Speaker 2: and taken to Philip Island. Like someone else still lives
- 16:37Speaker 2: in the house. But we built a new house. So cool,
- 16:40Speaker 2: and we built a new house on there, and we
- 16:41Speaker 2: designed it ourselves. You get it back, Well, maybe they
- 16:44Speaker 2: haven't accepted our offer. That's awesome is that.
- 16:50Speaker 3: I went to an inspection the other week and the
- 16:52Speaker 3: house was between eight fifty and nine to fifty and
- 16:55Speaker 3: then an auction it went for one point four or
- 16:57Speaker 3: five million dollars.
- 16:59Speaker 1: You find out about that.
- 17:00Speaker 3: That was a different one to the one you said, Oh.
- 17:02Speaker 1: My gosh, that was another one that went that far.
- 17:04Speaker 3: Yeah, the one I sent you that I like, that
- 17:06Speaker 3: was out of arrange. But that was about a million
- 17:08Speaker 3: and went for a million and half.
- 17:10Speaker 1: Yeah, the city, like in the CB Coburg that one cog.
- 17:15Speaker 4: Yeah, those price rangers created based on historical sales. So
- 17:19Speaker 4: like if we're in a boom now after a period
- 17:21Speaker 4: of like a lull, it's always going to go over
- 17:23Speaker 4: because all of those historical sales in that life. But
- 17:26Speaker 4: they know that now, they know that. But like legally
- 17:29Speaker 4: in real estate, you're only required to provide comparable sales
- 17:32Speaker 4: within like a certain time frame. It's like, I think
- 17:34Speaker 4: it's like the last six months.
- 17:35Speaker 3: We call bull on one of the real estate agents
- 17:37Speaker 3: and they kind of gave us a bull answer back,
- 17:39Speaker 3: like just completely like the one next door is the
- 17:42Speaker 3: same soul for this two weeks ago, and well, according
- 17:44Speaker 3: to historical garden and made, the house next door is
- 17:47Speaker 3: the same and it's old for like more than you're asking.
- 17:49Speaker 4: So like if they've made the SOI prior to like
- 17:52Speaker 4: that statement of information, which is a document that provides
- 17:55Speaker 4: comparable sales, Like let's say I put my house up
- 17:58Speaker 4: for sale, and I may be a so I for weeks,
- 18:00Speaker 4: go in that household last week, Like, you don't have
- 18:02Speaker 4: to update that s I, or at least I should
- 18:05Speaker 4: preface that with that was when I worked in real
- 18:06Speaker 4: estate many many years ago.
- 18:08Speaker 3: I'm sure it's quite similar. Yeah, And that's the kind
- 18:10Speaker 3: of spiel they gain far I don't like that. Chloe says,
- 18:14Speaker 3: this is the last one. I invest in restaurant brands
- 18:17Speaker 3: via a parent company that covers a whole bunch of
- 18:19Speaker 3: fast food outlets in New Zealand, and I just received
- 18:22Speaker 3: my annual free shareholder meal voucher, get a free meal and.
- 18:27Speaker 1: Money win if ever I heard one and he guesses.
- 18:30Speaker 3: What the voucher was for McDonald's.
- 18:31Speaker 4: Yeah, that's what I was gonna say.
- 18:33Speaker 3: I'll give you a clue, KFC.
- 18:41Speaker 1: Imagine becoming a shareholder and all you've got was the
- 18:43Speaker 1: vouchergar KFEN.
- 18:47Speaker 3: That's what's happened to Chloe.
- 18:48Speaker 1: Oh my capital growth. All right, now we are back
- 19:00Speaker 1: and we are definitely running. I want to hear an
- 19:02Speaker 1: team's personal money wins and confessions from the week. Who
- 19:06Speaker 1: are we going to start with this week? We're just
- 19:08Speaker 1: going to throw Dom's Pooty's hand. I'm going to throw
- 19:12Speaker 1: you in the dpen. But anytime we go by, Yeah,
- 19:16Speaker 1: everybody wants to go first.
- 19:18Speaker 3: What is it?
- 19:19Speaker 2: My money win?
- 19:20Speaker 1: It would be a win because no one puts their
- 19:22Speaker 1: hand up when they've got to.
- 19:23Speaker 2: It's a win and a confession. Okay, Yeah, and it's
- 19:26Speaker 2: quite odd. So we were running a We were in
- 19:28Speaker 2: Australia's first game of fired TikTok thing.
- 19:31Speaker 4: I played that. It was very fun.
- 19:34Speaker 2: Twenty three million views. Twenty three million, Yeah, and guess
- 19:39Speaker 2: who won? Guess who won? The thousand dollars completely random
- 19:43Speaker 2: draw by a legal partner that we have that you
- 19:45Speaker 2: know doesn't all legitimate everything. Guess who won was actually
- 19:50Speaker 2: literally and of course I'm disqualified. Yeah, so I'm like partying.
- 19:54Speaker 2: And then they said you can't win it your.
- 19:56Speaker 1: Own company's price one thousand dollars.
- 19:59Speaker 2: So we're back into the drawer. They're drawing it right
- 20:01Speaker 2: now tonight.
- 20:01Speaker 1: That is a money win.
- 20:03Speaker 2: But that was very disappointed when they told me I
- 20:05Speaker 2: couldn't have it.
- 20:07Speaker 4: Can they still play the game? Is the game still
- 20:08Speaker 4: up on TikTok?
- 20:09Speaker 2: Yes, I don't believe it is. I just don't think
- 20:11Speaker 2: you win the money, but you can. You can still
- 20:13Speaker 2: play the game Challenge easy.
- 20:16Speaker 3: And do you know what you do?
- 20:17Speaker 1: What you eat them eat the money.
- 20:20Speaker 2: The money falls out of the sky and you literally
- 20:21Speaker 2: eat it. And do you know I did. I was
- 20:23Speaker 2: with my four year old daughter and she has an
- 20:26Speaker 2: art table. She was making things, and so she wanted
- 20:28Speaker 2: to make a little puppa puppets, so little puppets of me,
- 20:32Speaker 2: and so I got them. And then when I couldn't
- 20:34Speaker 2: get all the coins, I just these little puppets just
- 20:35Speaker 2: like came in. So that's not fair, that's cheating.
- 20:40Speaker 1: Disqualified, not because you're the co founder because you cheated.
- 20:44Speaker 2: Yeah, but my four year old daughter made them. They
- 20:46Speaker 2: were gorgeous.
- 20:47Speaker 1: Okay, Okay, when it's done by our minor, they can
- 20:51Speaker 1: also bribe you.
- 20:53Speaker 4: Yeah, Victoria's de one on TikTok. We've got some really
- 20:56Speaker 4: fun ones with some little up insider tips. Off the
- 20:59Speaker 4: back of that and check out. The game is super fun.
- 21:01Speaker 1: It is. I've been having a lot of fun on
- 21:02Speaker 1: TikTok recently, but it's not my turn to talk. Jessica.
- 21:06Speaker 1: You spoke up first, Rip, I have a money confession
- 21:10Speaker 1: elevant money less.
- 21:11Speaker 4: So this week we are recording a little earlier than usual.
- 21:14Speaker 4: It is Wednesday. So if you've been following along, we've
- 21:16Speaker 4: been doing a Day in our Life on Stories, so
- 21:18Speaker 4: you may have seen I walked down the hill to
- 21:21Speaker 4: give us some drinks and some snacks a little earlier
- 21:24Speaker 4: when through seven eleven I got some panadoll. You did
- 21:28Speaker 4: two packets of pringles and a box of donuts. Take
- 21:31Speaker 4: a guess at how much that costs me?
- 21:32Speaker 1: Oh, no cost you?
- 21:35Speaker 4: Well, guess how much it cost me on the sheet
- 21:36Speaker 4: on the money cut.
- 21:37Speaker 1: Okay, so we're playing a game of guess how much
- 21:39Speaker 1: it costs Victoria.
- 21:40Speaker 2: Yeah, forty seven dollars close.
- 21:42Speaker 1: I feel like.
- 21:43Speaker 3: Seven elevens in town can be spenny, right.
- 21:46Speaker 4: Well, I went to the Richmond one. Firstly, very bougie.
- 21:49Speaker 3: There's about fifty in Richmond.
- 21:51Speaker 1: There's so many in Richmond.
- 21:53Speaker 4: The one in particular that I entered very boogie. How
- 21:55Speaker 4: was it bougie?
- 21:58Speaker 6: Very?
- 21:58Speaker 3: It's the massive one.
- 22:00Speaker 4: Yeah, it was big, like the door was ordered like
- 22:02Speaker 4: it wasn't like a sliding door. It was like an
- 22:04Speaker 4: opening door.
- 22:05Speaker 3: Just it was.
- 22:07Speaker 1: It's gonna make a lot of sense when you learn
- 22:09Speaker 1: that just is from the west side.
- 22:11Speaker 3: The coffee machine. There's a coffee machine in that one
- 22:14Speaker 3: that has soy milk.
- 22:18Speaker 1: Eleven there's Richmond if ever I heard it.
- 22:20Speaker 4: Those four items run us thirty seven dollars fifty. A
- 22:24Speaker 4: tub of pringles was seven dollars.
- 22:26Speaker 1: How much was the urifin?
- 22:28Speaker 4: I like twelve?
- 22:29Speaker 3: I think what?
- 22:30Speaker 4: Yeah, there was only little pack and they were only
- 22:32Speaker 4: the small Like my mind was just playing. So that's
- 22:34Speaker 4: my money loss. That's awful.
- 22:36Speaker 1: Georgia just off what she got my friend.
- 22:40Speaker 6: I have a money with yeah, to bring us back out.
- 22:44Speaker 6: So it's Melbourne Comedy Festival at the moment, guys.
- 22:48Speaker 4: Which is fantastic.
- 22:49Speaker 6: Great to be supporting the artists after such a hard
- 22:52Speaker 6: year last year.
- 22:53Speaker 4: So that's what I did, because I'm a hero.
- 22:55Speaker 6: Last week I went to see Nate Valvo, yeah, and
- 23:00Speaker 6: he was phenomenal so great. Tickets were pretty cheap anyway,
- 23:04Speaker 6: but I was like, treat yourself anyway. Went to the
- 23:06Speaker 6: ticket booth and he was like, Melady, it's twenty dollars
- 23:10Speaker 6: a ticket, ten dollars off because it's Mercedes Night or something.
- 23:13Speaker 6: I was like, I don't know what you're talking about, yo,
- 23:17Speaker 6: so great, I got like twenty dollars off.
- 23:19Speaker 4: Did he actually say malady? Probably not.
- 23:24Speaker 1: Georgia woulds Can we all get bracelets that just through WWGD?
- 23:29Speaker 1: So it's like, what would Georgia do? But if it was,
- 23:32Speaker 1: it's always left field, it's always different. It's thinking creatively,
- 23:36Speaker 1: keeps it.
- 23:36Speaker 4: Fun and fresh. What can we say? That's like you,
- 23:38Speaker 4: who's next?
- 23:39Speaker 1: It's Rune. I had a because I said it's run
- 23:42Speaker 1: before he could say the tour.
- 23:43Speaker 3: I had what I thought was going to be a
- 23:45Speaker 3: loss that became a win, and I think I talked
- 23:47Speaker 3: about it with you guys earlier. I've moved into a
- 23:49Speaker 3: new house this week, and the couch would not fit
- 23:52Speaker 3: through the front door. And I was sitting there thinking,
- 23:55Speaker 3: I'm gonna have to buy a new couch. I'm gonna
- 23:56Speaker 3: have to probably pay someone to get the old couch
- 23:58Speaker 3: because it's just sitting at the front. I was having this,
- 24:00Speaker 3: you know, money loss in my mind until I realized
- 24:03Speaker 3: that if I got into the townhouse behind us and
- 24:06Speaker 3: took my couch through their front door out their back door,
- 24:09Speaker 3: I could throw it over the back fence. Money win.
- 24:12Speaker 3: It worked, new couch, money savings, got to keep my
- 24:16Speaker 3: old couch. The dog BDA is happy because that's where
- 24:18Speaker 3: he That's.
- 24:18Speaker 4: A major agis issue.
- 24:20Speaker 3: If you're at your house, you're not at your place
- 24:21Speaker 3: of work.
- 24:23Speaker 2: I thought you're going to say you've got a bigger door.
- 24:25Speaker 3: Well we sort of do now. Also, actually just money win.
- 24:33Speaker 3: I'm actually moved into Victoria's friend's house.
- 24:35Speaker 1: Yeah, my best friend's house, which is really strange seeing
- 24:38Speaker 1: you Instagram story from your new house, me being like,
- 24:41Speaker 1: that is not where the kettle goes.
- 24:42Speaker 3: Brian, Well it does, now, mate, And can I tell
- 24:45Speaker 3: you that I would have we would have bought our house.
- 24:47Speaker 3: But back to the previous conversation. Turns out prices have
- 24:50Speaker 3: gone up half a million in a month. It's crazy,
- 24:53Speaker 3: so it might be there for a while while we save.
- 24:55Speaker 3: It's a cute house though, it's very nice. V. What
- 24:57Speaker 3: do you got?
- 24:57Speaker 1: Okay, So I've got a money when a money can
- 25:00Speaker 1: and then another money confession for you. So this week
- 25:03Speaker 1: or in the last week, it's been raining, it's getting winterry.
- 25:07Speaker 1: I'm now a crazy dog owner, and I bought on
- 25:10Speaker 1: the internet some dog rain jackets because that's what other
- 25:14Speaker 1: people do with their time. It's very normal.
- 25:17Speaker 3: Was on this podcast last week we were discussing the
- 25:19Speaker 3: gum boots you got for the dogs.
- 25:20Speaker 1: Yeah, and some of boots didn't work out. So now
- 25:22Speaker 1: I've got her the little kind of like Paddington Bear
- 25:25Speaker 1: like raincoat, very very cute, but the one I wanted
- 25:30Speaker 1: because I googled it and obviously found the cutest one
- 25:32Speaker 1: that had like this navy and white interior with a stripe,
- 25:35Speaker 1: very fancy, very fashion, very lucy, and it was like
- 25:39Speaker 1: two hundred dollars. What I'm not paying two hundred dollars
- 25:42Speaker 1: for a dog jacket. So I googled it. I didn't.
- 25:46Speaker 1: I didn't, I wouldn't do that. I'm like crazy, but
- 25:48Speaker 1: not that crazy. So I got on Ali Express tight
- 25:52Speaker 1: gan yellow dog jackets, same thing pops up eleven dollars,
- 25:56Speaker 1: bought it, bought two because it wasn't sure about the
- 25:59Speaker 1: size for free once. If you've got a dog smaller
- 26:01Speaker 1: than Lucy, please let me know it might be your
- 26:03Speaker 1: money win for you as well, and I'll send you
- 26:04Speaker 1: a dog jacket.
- 26:05Speaker 3: Would you say eleven dollars to two hundred? The product
- 26:07Speaker 3: looks pretty similar.
- 26:08Speaker 1: It's identical, perfect, and it came because on Oli Express.
- 26:14Speaker 1: Obviously sometimes it could be a little bit dodgy, but
- 26:17Speaker 1: you can look through the photo reviews and it had
- 26:20Speaker 1: like three hundred five star reviews and all these photos
- 26:23Speaker 1: of other people's dogs in these jackets, and I was like,
- 26:25Speaker 1: I'll take the risk. Those dogs look cute.
- 26:28Speaker 3: Everyone who follows our Instagram will know the answer for that.
- 26:31Speaker 3: She's on the Money Workplace, But dom I want to
- 26:33Speaker 3: know about the up Bank workplace. Is it a dog
- 26:36Speaker 3: friendly place? If a dog rocked up, would that be cool?
- 26:38Speaker 3: Is it a distraction? And what is your company policy
- 26:42Speaker 3: on rain jackets? On animals?
- 26:45Speaker 2: Completely awesome?
- 26:46Speaker 3: Both. Yeah.
- 26:47Speaker 2: We have a few different dogs that have come to
- 26:49Speaker 2: the office. We don't have a permanent dog in the office,
- 26:52Speaker 2: but people bring their own dog in. I don't think
- 26:54Speaker 2: any of them have rain jackets. We could not real dogs.
- 26:58Speaker 2: We could organize that, yeah, right.
- 27:00Speaker 3: And so how many dogs at any one time in
- 27:03Speaker 3: the workplace?
- 27:04Speaker 2: Only one?
- 27:05Speaker 3: Okay? Yeah, last time I.
- 27:06Speaker 1: Was at your office, there was a baby, there was
- 27:09Speaker 1: some dolls, and I played Mario cart So I just
- 27:11Speaker 1: feel like you'd be alright with dogs.
- 27:13Speaker 2: Yeah, absolutely fine. And there's usually a little sausage dog
- 27:16Speaker 2: that comes in. I forgot its name, but it's gorgeous.
- 27:21Speaker 4: And that's why we love up.
- 27:25Speaker 1: And my money confession, guys, obviously buying.
- 27:28Speaker 3: The buying the dog jackets is not a confession.
- 27:30Speaker 1: The money. I saved a lot of money on something
- 27:33Speaker 1: that I'd put twenty four hours between me and my spending,
- 27:36Speaker 1: and it was in line with my values. And I
- 27:38Speaker 1: don't think anyone at this table should be questioning my values.
- 27:41Speaker 1: And when I spend my money on if I've got conviction.
- 27:43Speaker 1: But my money lost is how much jess spent. All right,
- 27:50Speaker 1: We've been drinking a particular wine for most of this
- 27:53Speaker 1: pod recording, Jessica, and I'm not gonna lie, I don't
- 27:56Speaker 1: think any of us are enjoying it. No, No, it's
- 27:59Speaker 1: not very good. So could you just tell us what
- 28:01Speaker 1: we're drinking to warn other people? And how much was it?
- 28:06Speaker 4: Honestly don't know.
- 28:07Speaker 1: Okay, just spending all my money. I like that, like
- 28:11Speaker 1: be married. Now.
- 28:12Speaker 4: Yeah, look I wasn't wearing my glasses and so I
- 28:15Speaker 4: just grabbed what looked like approximately a nice bottle of white.
- 28:19Speaker 4: It turns out it's alcoholic free alcoholic free.
- 28:28Speaker 1: Could you just read the name of the wine.
- 28:31Speaker 4: Yeah, so we're drinking zero zero alcohol sparkling wine, which
- 28:35Speaker 4: we thought would may perhaps just be like apple juice,
- 28:38Speaker 4: but not as good. Just buy sparkling apple juice.
- 28:40Speaker 1: Just buy sparkling apple juice next time. It'll probably be
- 28:43Speaker 1: cheaper and tastier.
- 28:45Speaker 3: Juice in your soda stream.
- 28:47Speaker 1: No, it backs up. It explodes everywhere. Dom's right, it
- 28:53Speaker 1: explodes everywhere. I've tested that theory and can confirm you
- 28:57Speaker 1: also can't recarbonate tonic water, just for those of you
- 29:00Speaker 1: wondering you would. So with that, we'd like to acknowledge
- 29:05Speaker 1: and pay respect to Australia's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
- 29:09Speaker 1: They're the traditional custodians of the lands, the waterways and
- 29:12Speaker 1: the skies all across Australia. We thank you for sharing
- 29:15Speaker 1: and for caring on the land which we are able
- 29:17Speaker 1: to learn. We pay our respects to elders past and present,
- 29:20Speaker 1: and we share our friendship and our kindness. Now, George King,
- 29:23Speaker 1: do you want to read that? Or do your men
- 29:24Speaker 1: to read that?
- 29:25Speaker 4: I can do it if you'd like.
- 29:26Speaker 1: I've gotten real speedy at it.
- 29:28Speaker 6: You have, I know I need to.
- 29:30Speaker 1: Go.
- 29:31Speaker 6: So she is on the money is general in nature
- 29:33Speaker 6: and does not consider your individual circumstances.
- 29:36Speaker 1: That lacks a lot of passion, but caric she is on.
- 29:38Speaker 6: The money exists purely for educational purposes and should not
- 29:42Speaker 6: be relied upon to make an investment or a financial decision.
- 29:46Speaker 4: And we promise Victoria.
- 29:47Speaker 6: Divine is an authorized representative of Australia Pacific Funds Management
- 29:51Speaker 6: but prior toly Limited ADM three four one three two
- 29:54Speaker 6: four six three two five seven afossel through three nine
- 29:57Speaker 6: one five one.
- 29:58Speaker 1: That was pretty speedy. Thank you.
- 30:00Speaker 6: Thank you. Thanks to Sam Blacker our podcast Butler for
- 30:05Speaker 6: helping out with the audio.
- 30:06Speaker 1: Our podcast Butler, Yeah, did you name him? The podcast
