- 0:24Well there, hello everyone, and welcome to the
- 0:26ever-popular Inspirations for Your Life show.
- 0:29It's so great to be with you here
- 0:30today on a Sunday.
- 0:31It's the second day in our Master Topic
- 0:35launch.
- 0:35We started that yesterday, a brand new series.
- 0:38We'll get to that in just a minute.
- 0:39But before we do, I want to take
- 0:40the opportunity, because today is Sunday, so Sunday
- 0:42and Thursday, we give a shout-out to
- 0:45a local restaurant or coffee shop.
- 0:47And today's shout-out goes to a place
- 0:51in Plainfield, New Jersey.
- 0:53It's called Queen City Coffee Roasters.
- 0:58They are a place that makes their own
- 1:01coffee.
- 1:02They sell coffee you can get.
- 1:04Their specialty coffee, again, they're in Plainfield.
- 1:08They serve lots of cafes, restaurants, and different
- 1:11offices.
- 1:13And they also have a location in Clifton,
- 1:18New Jersey.
- 1:19Yes, so in Plainfield, they're at 200 Court
- 1:22Place, Plainfield, New Jersey, 07060.
- 1:25They're open from 7 a.m. to 7
- 1:26p.m., looks like, and Sunday, 9 a
- 1:29.m. to 10 p.m., so it looks
- 1:30like they're still there tonight.
- 1:32And in Clifton, 7 a.m. to 10
- 1:35p.m., Monday through Thursday, Sunday, 9 to
- 1:4010, and Friday and Saturday, 7 a.m.
- 1:42to 11 p.m., so same hours on
- 1:44both locations.
- 1:45So what do they have there?
- 1:48So they have lots of different coffee.
- 1:50They do wholesale.
- 1:52They do catering.
- 1:54So if I look here, they tell about
- 1:56their story.
- 1:57A very interesting website.
- 2:01Basically, their motto is built for operators who
- 2:03don't have time for friction.
- 2:05So I'm looking to see if they have
- 2:07any kind of pastries or anything.
- 2:10I'm looking to see here.
- 2:13So they also do equipment leasing.
- 2:14So they're more than just a place that's,
- 2:17I mean, they actually help somebody get started
- 2:20in the industry.
- 2:21So it looks like they're mostly just a
- 2:22coffee shop.
- 2:23I don't see on their website that they
- 2:25have any kind of pastries.
- 2:27I mean, I could be wrong.
- 2:29They even have barista training and stuff like
- 2:32that.
- 2:32So an interesting little place to visit.
- 2:37But I don't see if they have, you
- 2:40can order online.
- 2:41I don't actually see, though, if they have
- 2:44any kind of pastries.
- 2:45Usually, coffee shops have pastries.
- 2:48But for whatever reason, I'm not finding them.
- 2:51I went to their, it's called QC Pickup,
- 2:54which is taking a very long time to
- 2:55load.
- 2:57So again, they're called Queen City Coffee.
- 3:01They even have things like holiday gifts and
- 3:03stuff like that.
- 3:04Mostly, I think it's just coffee from what
- 3:07I'm gathering here.
- 3:10Yeah, I don't see any kind of, so
- 3:13if I go to catering, they have a
- 3:16nice little rolling cart there that's kind of
- 3:20like a thing where they can put all
- 3:22their coffee and their machine on and stuff.
- 3:24So specialty coffee, anywhere you need it, is
- 3:26kind of the thing.
- 3:27They do weddings, corporate events, private parties, community
- 3:29events.
- 3:31So they do espresso, americano, cortado, cappuccino, latte,
- 3:36ice latte, cold brew.
- 3:38And then they do the classic setup, which
- 3:40is just drift coffee, decaf, and of course,
- 3:43cold brew.
- 3:43So I'm reaching out to you guys tonight
- 3:46because I want you guys to check out
- 3:48Jason Academy to invite us to come into
- 3:50one of your coffee shops so I can
- 3:52come and give a live show right there
- 3:56at your place.
- 3:58And I'll also, after the show, do an
- 4:00author talk, author Q&A and author signing.
- 4:03It's completely free.
- 4:04Definitely reach out to jasonacademy.com.
- 4:06Click on the contact us button, fill out
- 4:08the form, and we'd love you to host
- 4:10us.
- 4:11All right, guys.
- 4:11So again, give them a try.
- 4:13So let's get into the show.
- 4:17Hopefully today will enlighten you a little bit
- 4:20about what's going on or why things are
- 4:23going on.
- 4:24But I think a lot of times, I
- 4:25always like to give back to our great
- 4:27communities and try to help them understand what
- 4:30we're doing and let other people in the
- 4:33community basically know what different businesses are doing.
- 4:37So I think that's a very important thing
- 4:42for us to recognize different businesses and to
- 4:44try to help them and whatnot.
- 4:46So this is the Inspirations for Your Life
- 4:49show.
- 4:50We are a daily motivational show, in case
- 4:52you did not know that we were that.
- 4:54Yes, we are a daily motivational show.
- 4:57So again, it is so great to be
- 4:58with everyone here.
- 5:01Very, very great to be with you here.
- 5:04So welcome, everyone, to another episode of the
- 5:07ever-popular Inspirations for Your Life show.
- 5:11I'm John C.
- 5:12Morley.
- 5:12I'm a serial entrepreneur, engineer, marketing specialist, video
- 5:15producer, podcast host, coach, keynote speaker, graduate student,
- 5:20passionate lifelong learner.
- 5:22I'm so grateful now to be a published
- 5:25author.
- 5:26All right, guys.
- 5:26Let's get into this because, like I said,
- 5:29I've got a lot to share with you.
- 5:31And I think you're going to find this
- 5:32to be a pretty good evening.
- 5:34I mean, they're always good evenings or good
- 5:36days.
- 5:37So let's get right into this, all right?
- 5:39So the very first thing I think I
- 5:41want to talk about, I think it's an
- 5:43important thing to think about, is going to
- 5:45be, well, resentment charges interest.
- 5:50I don't know if you know that.
- 5:50Resentment does charge interest.
- 5:52If you didn't know that, it does.
- 5:54It charges interest.
- 5:55So I think that's an important piece for
- 5:58us all to really recognize.
- 6:02Resentment rarely stays the same size.
- 6:07Every replay can add another emotional payment, something
- 6:10that we weren't expecting to be, right, and
- 6:15causing more havoc to us.
- 6:17Number two, the person you're angry with, well,
- 6:22they may not be thinking about it.
- 6:24This can be difficult to accept.
- 6:26And you may replay what happened constantly while
- 6:30the other person has moved on, guys.
- 6:33I think that's an important piece.
- 6:35You know, you may be putting more energy
- 6:36into it than really needs to be.
- 6:38Number three, stop paying emotionally for somebody else's
- 6:41behavior.
- 6:42This is the main key, guys, okay?
- 6:45Someone made a choice.
- 6:47Maybe it was dishonest, disrespectful, selfish, or hurtful.
- 6:50Their behavior belongs to them, right?
- 6:54And if it's anger, it's anger.
- 6:57But don't let that make you follow suit
- 7:00to what they're doing.
- 7:01Number four, guys, anger can feel powerful while
- 7:04quietly draining you.
- 7:06Yeah, that's a problem.
- 7:07Anger can create an immediate feeling or strength
- 7:10because it energizes us.
- 7:11But staying angry requires us to keep feeding
- 7:16that bad energy.
- 7:18Number five, notice how resentment changes your mood,
- 7:22okay?
- 7:22Pay attention to what happens when you think
- 7:25about a particular person or situation.
- 7:27Does your mood change?
- 7:29Does it get better?
- 7:30Does it get worse, right?
- 7:31I think that's important.
- 7:33Number six, guys, stop letting another person's actions
- 7:36control today's energy.
- 7:38What they did yesterday shouldn't automatically determine how
- 7:42you feel today.
- 7:44Their actions were theirs, and let's leave it
- 7:46at that, right?
- 7:47You can have your own actions, but you
- 7:49shouldn't necessarily respond in kind just because someone
- 7:53else responds poorly, all right?
- 7:56Number seven, ask who is actually suffering from
- 7:59your bitterness.
- 8:00If you're carrying resentment every day, ask yourself
- 8:03who is experiencing it.
- 8:05Is it you or is it someone else?
- 8:07Are you trying to do this to be,
- 8:09let's say, putting a vengeance out or being
- 8:13revengeful?
- 8:14Is the other person feeling it too?
- 8:16Or are you just trying to, I don't
- 8:18know, teach them a lesson?
- 8:19Teaching people a lesson like that just always
- 8:22seems to backfire.
- 8:26Number eight, resentment can become an invisible relationship,
- 8:31yeah.
- 8:32So you can stop speaking to somebody and
- 8:35still remain emotionally connected through anger.
- 8:38If you're constantly doing that, then you're actually
- 8:41going to get yourself more upset.
- 8:43You're going to lose your energy.
- 8:44You can even burn out doing this stuff,
- 8:46guys.
- 8:46So I think these are important things to
- 8:49do is stop maintaining the connection through anger.
- 8:54There's a lot of other things you can
- 8:55do.
- 8:56You can dismiss that.
- 8:58You can not agree with them, but it
- 9:00doesn't mean that you have to still be
- 9:02angry, okay?
- 9:04Sometimes anger, I said, becomes the final connection
- 9:06between two people.
- 9:07But we can say we're finished, but maybe
- 9:10we're just finished with working with them.
- 9:11But we don't have to be nasty.
- 9:13We don't have to get our whole gear
- 9:16up, right?
- 9:16Number 10, your attention is so priceless, ladies
- 9:19and gentlemen.
- 9:20Attention is one of our greatest resources.
- 9:23Whatever receives your attention receives part of your
- 9:25life.
- 9:26So don't spend it repeatedly prosecuting the past.
- 9:31You don't need to hold another imaginary trial
- 9:35every evening.
- 9:37You know what happened, right?
- 9:38So why do you have to keep going
- 9:40over and over and belaboring it, right?
- 9:44That's a big problem, okay?
- 9:47Number 12, guys, anger needs somewhere productive to
- 9:51go.
- 9:53Anger contains energy.
- 9:54Instead of allowing it to circulate endlessly, direct
- 9:57it somewhere else.
- 9:57Useful.
- 9:58Maybe you can do some exercises to get
- 10:02that bad energy out of you.
- 10:04It could be taking a walk.
- 10:06It could be punching a punching bag.
- 10:09It could be something that is going to
- 10:12let off your energy in a way that
- 10:13is not going to allow you to cause
- 10:16harm to other people, whether that be physically,
- 10:18mentally, or spiritually.
- 10:19Number 13, I want you to turn frustration
- 10:25into information.
- 10:27Ask what your frustration is telling you.
- 10:29Maybe you tolerated something too long.
- 10:31Maybe you ignored where it was going.
- 10:34But ask yourself that question.
- 10:35I think that'll really change what you're doing.
- 10:40Number 14, ask what the experience taught you.
- 10:43Every difficult experience has the potential to teach
- 10:46something.
- 10:47What will you recognize earlier next?
- 10:51Are you ready for something next or not?
- 10:55I mean, that's my question.
- 10:57Are you just going to keep belaboring on
- 10:59this over and over again because you think
- 11:01that's the way it should go?
- 11:02But really, it's going to just get you
- 11:04sick inside.
- 11:05Number 15, stop confusing resentment with self-respect.
- 11:08You don't prove that you respect yourself by
- 11:13remaining angry forever.
- 11:14Self-respect can mean recognizing boundaries.
- 11:18Sometimes it can just mean moving away.
- 11:21It can be distancing yourself from someone or
- 11:24something.
- 11:26And you don't have to force that person
- 11:27to change.
- 11:28That's not your job.
- 11:30So don't make it all about them.
- 11:33If something's wrong, then separate if you can't
- 11:37mend your differences.
- 11:38But don't let it take your whole life
- 11:39down.
- 11:41Don't let it destroy the respect that you
- 11:43have in you.
- 11:45And this is just going to kill it.
- 11:47You don't want that.
- 11:48Number 16, boundaries protect you better than bitterness
- 11:51does.
- 11:51I know you might say, well, bitterness is
- 11:53easier and I want to prove to somebody.
- 11:55Why do you want to prove to somebody?
- 11:56Why do you want to get your heart
- 11:57racing?
- 11:58Why do you want to get the other
- 12:00person to be even angrier?
- 12:03Why do you want to do that?
- 12:04That's the big point that I want to
- 12:06ask.
- 12:06Why do you want to do that?
- 12:08There is no reason for you to do
- 12:11that, okay?
- 12:13Bitterness doesn't necessarily stop somebody from hurting you
- 12:16again.
- 12:17Boundaries can.
- 12:18So decide what behavior you want to put
- 12:21an end to.
- 12:22I think that's a real key point.
- 12:25Number 17, you can distance yourself without hating
- 12:28somebody.
- 12:29Distance doesn't require hatred.
- 12:31Sometimes the healthiest choice is the simplest way
- 12:35of recognizing that somebody needs to be, let's
- 12:40say, either eliminated from your life or that
- 12:44you need to move on, right?
- 12:45And you don't have to get angry about
- 12:47it, guys.
- 12:47Sometimes people just aren't a fit in your
- 12:49life anymore.
- 12:51Number 18, protect your peace without seeking revenge.
- 12:54Protecting yourself and punishing somebody are different goals.
- 12:58So revenge keeps your attention centered on them
- 13:02and the hatred you feel.
- 13:05Protecting yourself says, okay, this energy is not
- 13:07good for me.
- 13:08So what I'm going to do right now
- 13:09is I am going to stop this nonsense
- 13:13and I am going to get out of
- 13:15this negative space.
- 13:17So protect yourself, okay?
- 13:19Protect your peace without seeking revenge, okay?
- 13:23You don't want to punish someone else.
- 13:26You don't want to erase your heart.
- 13:28There's no need for that.
- 13:30Stop needing somebody else to suffer before you
- 13:33heal.
- 13:34I know a lot of you are like,
- 13:35well, I'm not going to feel good until
- 13:37that person is down and out.
- 13:39What does that mean?
- 13:40Why do you even need to do that,
- 13:42right?
- 13:43You don't need to put somebody else down.
- 13:45You don't need to make somebody feel bad.
- 13:47That's not right, right?
- 13:50So your healing can heal on you.
- 13:53You don't need to have somebody else's misery
- 13:55be part of it.
- 13:57Number 20, guys, their consequences are not your
- 14:04responsibility.
- 14:05See, life has its own way of producing
- 14:07consequences.
- 14:08You don't have to personally supervise them.
- 14:11Focus on you for the moment, okay?
- 14:13Karma does pay back.
- 14:15I want to tell you it does pay
- 14:16back, but it may not pay back on
- 14:19your terms, okay?
- 14:20So just be mindful of that and there's
- 14:24a lot that you can do.
- 14:27Be the best that you can be.
- 14:29That's the one thing I want to say.
- 14:30Be the best you can be and don't
- 14:32get caught up in all this pettiness, right?
- 14:35Life will produce the consequences.
- 14:37It's not your job to decide who and
- 14:39how karma gets handled.
- 14:41Number 21, reclaim the mental space they occupy.
- 14:47Those people, that situation, it created a bad
- 14:50feeling in you.
- 14:51One that may make you feel unhappy, worthless,
- 14:56right?
- 14:56Abused, used.
- 14:59Think about how much mental space one person
- 15:02can occupy without being anywhere near you.
- 15:06You owe it to yourself, ladies and gentlemen,
- 15:07to reclaim that space.
- 15:09There's no reason that somebody else should have
- 15:11that space.
- 15:13I'm just being honest, right?
- 15:15And so many people I know have these
- 15:18spaces that are abused.
- 15:21Think of it like this, ladies and gentlemen.
- 15:22Think about technology, right?
- 15:24There's lots of programs running, but we need
- 15:27to reclaim back that valuable memory.
- 15:32That's important, guys.
- 15:34Very, very important.
- 15:36Number 22, stop checking whether life punished them
- 15:40yet or not.
- 15:41Who cares?
- 15:43Constantly watching somebody to see whether they're getting
- 15:46theirs, right?
- 15:47Or something went wrong in their life or
- 15:49wishing them bad.
- 15:51Don't wish anybody bad.
- 15:53Don't do that, all right?
- 15:56I know they might have done something really
- 15:58bad to you, and you wish that they
- 16:02would just get in trouble.
- 16:03I've had people that have not been nice
- 16:04to me.
- 16:05I've had people that have been downright rotten.
- 16:09Not a lot, but a couple.
- 16:11Did I feel bad at the time?
- 16:13At the time, did I wish something?
- 16:14Yeah, and I learned it.
- 16:15That's not the way, right?
- 16:18It's not the way I wish I would
- 16:19get closure.
- 16:20Somebody would say, I'm sorry.
- 16:21But I learned that I don't need to
- 16:23do that.
- 16:24And I don't need their approval, right?
- 16:29Somebody who's gonna treat me like that, do
- 16:30I really need apology from them?
- 16:32No, you move on, ladies and gentlemen.
- 16:34You move on, okay?
- 16:37You move on.
- 16:39I know you might want the apology, but
- 16:42don't tie your whole life up trying to
- 16:44get it, all right?
- 16:46That's important, guys.
- 16:49Your recovery, number 23, doesn't require their downfall.
- 16:53You could succeed whether they succeed or fail.
- 16:56Your peace doesn't require their pain or the
- 16:59discomfort.
- 17:00In fact, one of the best ways is
- 17:02to move beyond them and focus on your
- 17:05own life.
- 17:07Number 24, bitterness cannot build the future that
- 17:10you've been yearning for.
- 17:12I'm just being honest, okay?
- 17:14You may not wanna hear that.
- 17:16Bitterness looks backward.
- 17:18Building requires looking forward.
- 17:19If you want better relationships, opportunities, and circumstances,
- 17:24then look forward.
- 17:26Don't look to be somebody who's gonna instill
- 17:28or install bitterness.
- 17:31Number 25, let consequences belong to consequences.
- 17:38What does that mean?
- 17:39If someone repeatedly makes poor decisions, those choices
- 17:42will create their own outcomes.
- 17:44You don't need to be the one making
- 17:46sure that it makes them feel bad or
- 17:48does something wrong.
- 17:49Their consequences will be known by them, sure
- 17:53enough.
- 17:55If someone repeatedly makes the poor decisions, those
- 17:58choices will change their life and they'll eventually
- 18:01change.
- 18:02They may not change right away.
- 18:04Number 26, put your energy back into yourself.
- 18:09People don't realize we have a limited amount
- 18:11of energy and we have to use the
- 18:13energy sparingly so that we can do what
- 18:14we wanna do.
- 18:16This is where everything begins changing.
- 18:18Take the energy that went into the anger
- 18:20and redirect it towards yourself to do something
- 18:23better.
- 18:23Like I said, go do a workout, right?
- 18:27Go run, do an exercise, maybe do an
- 18:30arts and craft or something, right?
- 18:33Do something that's gonna maybe result in you
- 18:38burning some energy, right?
- 18:40It could be running.
- 18:41It could be throwing darts.
- 18:44It could be shooting guns on a field
- 18:46or something like that.
- 18:47What's gonna work for you that's gonna get
- 18:49that anger out of you, okay?
- 18:53Number 27, peace is more valuable than winning
- 18:56an old argument.
- 18:57I know you might think you wanna win
- 18:59the argument, but really you don't need to
- 19:01win the argument, guys.
- 19:03Imagine finally proving that you were right, but
- 19:06remaining miserable for it.
- 19:08What did you actually win anyway?
- 19:10I mean, just proving that you're right.
- 19:12Who really cares that you were right?
- 19:14Number 28, stop allowing resentment to become part
- 19:17of your personality.
- 19:18I know so many people that do that.
- 19:21Well, he's getting ahead, but I'm gonna get
- 19:24back at him.
- 19:25Who really cares?
- 19:27Be careful when anger becomes so familiar that
- 19:30it starts defining how you see people in
- 19:32the situations and you start wishing things on
- 19:34them.
- 19:34Don't wish bad on anybody.
- 19:37Number 29, you deserve freedom from what they
- 19:39did.
- 19:40Yes, you do, okay?
- 19:42This isn't about giving the other person something
- 19:44back.
- 19:45It's not a boomerang.
- 19:46It's about giving yourself something.
- 19:48You deserve to show self-love and respect
- 19:52to you.
- 19:53Number 30, release the resentment before it keeps
- 19:56costing you.
- 19:57And believe me, it will.
- 19:58This is the central idea today.
- 20:00Resentment has a price.
- 20:02Maybe you're already paid enough.
- 20:04You can remember how that felt.
- 20:07But is it time to release that in
- 20:09your life?
- 20:09I think that is.
- 20:12Who is your anger really hurting now anyway?
- 20:15Like who?
- 20:16Is it hurting somebody?
- 20:18Or you know what's really hurting, guys?
- 20:19It's hurting you.
- 20:20You can continue carrying the resentment or you
- 20:23can start reclaiming the space it acquires.
- 20:29Yeah, the space it acquires.
- 20:34We talked about space, guys.
- 20:37Space needs to be observed and we don't
- 20:40wanna fill it with something that doesn't need
- 20:43to be there, right?
- 20:47I think that's an important point.
- 20:51And we have to be aware of that.
- 20:53None of that changes the choice available to
- 20:56you.
- 20:58So you can continue carrying the resentment or
- 21:01you can start reclaiming the space, as I
- 21:02said, that it occupies.
- 21:05Letting go doesn't mean they won, all right?
- 21:07It's not about who won, who lost.
- 21:09It's not a game like that.
- 21:11It doesn't even mean you lost, okay?
- 21:14It doesn't mean what happened suddenly became acceptable
- 21:18to you.
- 21:19No, it doesn't mean that.
- 21:22And it doesn't mean you need to reopen
- 21:25a door you correctly closed.
- 21:28You don't need to wait around for an
- 21:31apology or foreclosure, just move on.
- 21:34You can forgive without restoring access, right?
- 21:38You forgive, but you don't forget, right?
- 21:41You can move forward without forgetting and you
- 21:43can protect yours right away.
- 21:46See, that's showing strength.
- 21:48That's taking it and redirecting it inside our
- 21:50body so we can become stronger, so we
- 21:54can learn from the lesson.
- 21:55Remember I said when something happens and we
- 21:57don't like it, we need to learn from
- 21:59the lesson, throw everything else away, but keep
- 22:01only the lesson, the lesson.
- 22:04Take the lesson only with you.
- 22:06Take the stronger boundaries that you set.
- 22:10Learn from the wisdom.
- 22:11Take the ability to recognize things, right?
- 22:15That's important guys, so very important.
- 22:19But consider leaving the resentment behind.
- 22:24As much as you wanna drag it, don't.
- 22:26Because every minute you spend mentally fighting somebody
- 22:29from your past is a minute that isn't
- 22:32complete and it's gonna take away peace and
- 22:35joy from your own life and take you
- 22:39off.
- 22:39Well, your path of success.
- 22:43Your attention, ladies and gentlemen, it belongs to
- 22:46you, right?
- 22:48You might think, you know, you gotta get
- 22:50that one back.
- 22:51There's always, they always say tit for tat,
- 22:53right?
- 22:53But why were we brought up that way?
- 22:58You know, if somebody hits you, you gotta
- 22:59hit them back.
- 22:59No, no, no, no.
- 23:03The smart thing to do is not stay
- 23:06there and get hit again, but to walk
- 23:08away.
- 23:09We don't need to prove that we're more
- 23:10powerful.
- 23:11We're better off to walk away.
- 23:13We don't need to retaliate again.
- 23:16Your energy belongs to you.
- 23:18You know what else belongs to you, ladies
- 23:19and gentlemen?
- 23:19Your peace belongs to you.
- 23:22So by you choosing to walk away, by
- 23:25you choosing to just not let it bother
- 23:27you, you'll feel better.
- 23:32You see, when you detach from a situation,
- 23:36it doesn't control you.
- 23:37When you attach to something, it completely controls
- 23:41you.
- 23:45Your attention belongs to you.
- 23:46Your energy belongs to you.
- 23:47And your peace belongs to you.
- 23:50Why is it we have to prove to
- 23:51people, well, you know, I'm stronger than you
- 23:53or I'm smarter than you?
- 23:54Who really cares?
- 23:58Why can't we work together as a T
- 24:00-E-A-M, a team?
- 24:03I think that's a hard thing for a
- 24:05lot of people to realize, right?
- 24:09We need to understand again that our attention
- 24:11belongs to us, our energy belongs to us,
- 24:13and our peace belongs to us.
- 24:16And no confrontation we have is ever gonna
- 24:19get those back from us.
- 24:21You know what's gonna get them back?
- 24:23Letting go, letting go.
- 24:27When you let go, that's when you truly
- 24:31get peace, right?
- 24:33You get peace back in your life.
- 24:36You get peace back.
- 24:40You get your attention back.
- 24:42You also get your energy back.
- 24:44Why do you wanna defend something or someone
- 24:49that has been disrespectful to you?
- 24:52I just wanna ask the question, why?
- 24:55What are you gonna get out of proving
- 24:58that you're right?
- 25:01Like, what are you gonna get out of
- 25:02it?
- 25:02Are you gonna get anything out of it
- 25:04or no?
- 25:15I'm just asking that question.
- 25:17And that's a question I think that a
- 25:19lot of people, before they get angry, what
- 25:22I always say to do is, when you
- 25:25feel yourself starting to get into that mode,
- 25:28just walk away, maybe take a deep breath,
- 25:33and come back after you've had a chance.
- 25:34Maybe the situation emotionally fired you up, right?
- 25:41And you feel that you've gotta combatively respond.
- 25:44You don't.
- 25:47What could happen when you do that?
- 25:49A fight, right?
- 25:51An argument, things said that nobody wants to
- 25:56say.
- 26:02These are hard things, right?
- 26:07These are very hard things.
- 26:15I think that's probably the most important thing
- 26:18I can tell you, is that this perception
- 26:23of the control you're gonna get is really
- 26:28an illusion.
- 26:29And we don't wind up finding out that
- 26:33what we did wasn't good until we feel
- 26:36bad.
- 26:37A lot of times, you feel bad and
- 26:39you still keep doing the same thing over
- 26:40and over again because you think you're gonna
- 26:41feel better once you win.
- 26:44But you know, once you win, you make
- 26:48the other person feel bad and you feel
- 26:49bad.
- 26:50And now either you're trying to get an
- 26:51apology or you're like, oh, I wish I
- 26:54wouldn't have done that.
- 26:55I wish I wouldn't have said that.
- 26:57I think maybe I went too far.
- 26:58The other person might say, yeah, you did.
- 27:01And now any chance of that friendship even
- 27:03recovering, forget it.
- 27:05It's just down the tubes.
- 27:07Some people just are gonna do that, right?
- 27:13That's important, guys.
- 27:15So your attention belongs to you.
- 27:16Your energy belongs to you.
- 27:17Your peace belongs to you.
- 27:18Take them back now.
- 27:19That's your choice.
