- 1:57Speaker 1: for you and your health after fifty All right, welcome Tammy.
- 2:03Speaker 1: I'm so excited. So this is the first time that
- 2:07Speaker 1: I've ever had a personal client on to kind of
- 2:10Speaker 1: tell their story, and I could not think of a better.
- 2:13Speaker 2: Person to invite than you. So welcome to the body pot.
- 2:20Speaker 3: Thank you, Hayley. I'm really happy to be here and
- 2:23Speaker 3: to share my story.
- 2:25Speaker 1: Yes, so we have been working together since the first
- 2:29Speaker 1: of September. Yeah, one on one, and I guess let's
- 2:34Speaker 1: just start from the very beginning. I want you to
- 2:37Speaker 1: take us back and rewind and start with your journey
- 2:41Speaker 1: in the last couple of years and kind of go
- 2:45Speaker 1: over you know what your experience has been before we
- 2:50Speaker 1: started working.
- 2:52Speaker 3: It's almost embarrassing to say that I really didn't know
- 2:59Speaker 3: what perry menopause was like. Now, on the other side
- 3:02Speaker 3: of it. I can look at you and say, I'm
- 3:07Speaker 3: not sure I even knew what perimenopause was. Four and
- 3:11Speaker 3: five and six years ago. I knew my cycle was changing,
- 3:16Speaker 3: and I knew the inevitable eventually, I'm gonna stop having
- 3:20Speaker 3: a cycle. But my journey, I would compare it to
- 3:25Speaker 3: if you looked at a slight switch plate on a
- 3:28Speaker 3: wall and it had two switches. I've had two really
- 3:33Speaker 3: significant phases, and the first time that switch went off
- 3:40Speaker 3: was probably about spring of twenty twenty one. And I've
- 3:45Speaker 3: been an endurance junkie all my life. I'm a middle
- 3:50Speaker 3: of the pack person. So it's not like I'm out there,
- 3:53Speaker 3: you know, running races, podium, you know, getting on a podium,
- 3:57Speaker 3: none of that. It's always been about this is how
- 4:02Speaker 3: I take care of my head, my stress. So I
- 4:06Speaker 3: started to notice that, you know, my run times were slowing.
- 4:11Speaker 3: I felt that I needed a lot more recovery. I
- 4:16Speaker 3: was getting injured a lot, and like really stupid things
- 4:20Speaker 3: my calf, my hip flexer, things that I had never
- 4:24Speaker 3: experienced before. And then I also started to get this
- 4:28Speaker 3: little pouch around my belly, and I'd never had that before.
- 4:35Speaker 3: Almost simultaneously, I started to have anxiety creep up, and
- 4:43Speaker 3: in the middle of the night, I'd wake up and
- 4:45Speaker 3: I'd catastrophize my life, you know, like at two in
- 4:49Speaker 3: the morning, I would start this second guessing everything and
- 4:54Speaker 3: monkey mind and this is not like me at all.
- 4:59Speaker 3: And I at that time too, started to get a
- 5:01Speaker 3: little bit of night sweat. So I reached out to
- 5:04Speaker 3: what do I do? I reach out to my coaching world,
- 5:07Speaker 3: and I get connected with Purple Patch out of the
- 5:11Speaker 3: San Francisco Bay area, good friends of mine. They immediately
- 5:15Speaker 3: put me in touch with a running coach, Emma Briggs
- 5:19Speaker 3: with Endurance Explorers. Fantastic person, and Emma basically said, ah,
- 5:25Speaker 3: I know what to do with you. You need to
- 5:27Speaker 3: read the book Rore and understand where you're at in life,
- 5:31Speaker 3: and also let's start building in some sit training, some
- 5:36Speaker 3: hit training. I've always had strength training that was more
- 5:41Speaker 3: of like a periodization style, so everything she recommended seemed
- 5:49Speaker 3: normal to me, nothing out of the box. When I
- 5:51Speaker 3: started reading Roor, I immediately became the biggest fan of
- 5:56Speaker 3: doctor Stacy Simms and Seline Jaeger, and I consumed everything
- 6:02Speaker 3: they were talking about. Adaptogens became my friend and between
- 6:08Speaker 3: emma and adaptogens and just staying on top of all
- 6:13Speaker 3: the latest and greatest research that held my symptoms at bay.
- 6:19Speaker 3: So all of the anxiety, the night sweats, things like that.
- 6:25Speaker 3: That really started to back that off, and I saw
- 6:30Speaker 3: my run speeds come back, I saw my injuries start
- 6:34Speaker 3: to go away. After about a year and a half,
- 6:40Speaker 3: that second switch went off. So now the adaptogens were
- 6:46Speaker 3: not working, and I was back into that mix of
- 6:51Speaker 3: now I'm up in the night, I'm sleeping super light,
- 6:54Speaker 3: I have no energy in the morning, I have brain fog,
- 6:58Speaker 3: I can't make sense of, you know, putting sentences together.
- 7:02Speaker 3: Like at a certain point I really thought, do I
- 7:05Speaker 3: have a serious problem here? Like I had a hard
- 7:09Speaker 3: time functioning even with work, so that that was starting
- 7:14Speaker 3: to become alarming. And then the next piece of that
- 7:21Speaker 3: was the next piece of that was I did a
- 7:27Speaker 3: bunch of lab work, and my inflammation markers were off
- 7:31Speaker 3: the charts. My cardiac lab work was off the charts,
- 7:37Speaker 3: like in an alarming way where my endocrinologist was like,
- 7:41Speaker 3: let's get you in for a cardiac scan and make
- 7:44Speaker 3: sure everything is okay. I'm a really healthy eater, I'm
- 7:48Speaker 3: a clean eater, so to get lab work like that
- 7:52Speaker 3: was really scary for me. And also at that time
- 7:58Speaker 3: I had now little belly pouch turned into ten pounds.
- 8:05Speaker 3: And by the time I right before I learned all
- 8:10Speaker 3: about Hayley, I went through my second round of lab
- 8:16Speaker 3: work and my labs had not moved at all. So
- 8:22Speaker 3: what I had done with my endocrinologist was her immediate
- 8:29Speaker 3: reaction was, let's consider putting you on hormone therapy. The
- 8:35Speaker 3: hormone therapy, just a little bit of estrogen, some oral
- 8:39Speaker 3: progesterone will help you with your anxiety. It will help
- 8:45Speaker 3: you sleep better, deeper, longer, and it will start to
- 8:50Speaker 3: back off some of those night sweats. So I went
- 8:54Speaker 3: on hormone therapy for about a year, and it is
- 9:00Speaker 3: a short term solution for a short term problem. It
- 9:05Speaker 3: really got me over the hurdle, and I felt like
- 9:09Speaker 3: with hormone therapy I had retained some of my quality
- 9:14Speaker 3: of life, but the one thing that hadn't moved was
- 9:20Speaker 3: my lab work and the scale. By the time I
- 9:23Speaker 3: got to you, I had gained seventeen pounds over two years. So, yeah,
- 9:32Speaker 3: this is someone who I've always been fit. I've always
- 9:38Speaker 3: been active, and my eating, my activity none of that
- 9:44Speaker 3: had changed so out of nowhere. I felt like on
- 9:49Speaker 3: that second switch that went off here, I was I'm
- 9:53Speaker 3: doing everything that I'm supposed to be doing, and now
- 9:57Speaker 3: I've got seventeen pounds on me and I don't know
- 10:01Speaker 3: what to do. So I had I listened to the
- 10:06Speaker 3: Huberman podcast with doctor Stacy Simms, and that's when I
- 10:11Speaker 3: heard about the new program that you and Stacy had
- 10:13Speaker 3: put together, Power Happens. So I start doing Power Happens.
- 10:19Speaker 3: I'm loving the program. It's great, and I think you
- 10:24Speaker 3: guys came out with the first program was sixty minutes.
- 10:27Speaker 3: The second program was thirty minutes, and I thought, oh well,
- 10:31Speaker 3: I'll go into the thirty minute program. And I don't
- 10:35Speaker 3: need to be doing you know, hours in the gym.
- 10:39Speaker 3: All I need to do is get in and get out.
- 10:42Speaker 3: So a thirty minute program, let's see what that's all about.
- 10:46Speaker 3: And it wasn't helping me move. It wasn't helping me
- 10:52Speaker 3: move the needle and out of sheer desperation. I sent
- 10:57Speaker 3: you a message through your app and I think I
- 11:00Speaker 3: asked for a nutrition consult.
- 11:04Speaker 1: Yeah, which is so funny because like I like, I
- 11:08Speaker 1: wasn't taking anyone this last year was so bananas to me.
- 11:11Speaker 1: And you know, I really don't even promote that I
- 11:15Speaker 1: do one on one. It's kind of on my website,
- 11:17Speaker 1: but I really just pass it off to other coaches
- 11:19Speaker 1: because I just haven't had the time, and I.
- 11:21Speaker 2: I don't know why.
- 11:23Speaker 1: Like I just was like I sure craft, yeah, oh sure, I'm.
- 11:28Speaker 2: Gonna take tammy.
- 11:30Speaker 1: And then when I met you, I was like, oh
- 11:32Speaker 1: this there was just a genuine connection. But let's talk
- 11:34Speaker 1: about what was your age when you had started, you know,
- 11:40Speaker 1: with the running company versus when you you know, you
- 11:45Speaker 1: found me on Huberman podcast and learned about the power programs.
- 11:49Speaker 3: Yeah, so let me think spring of twenty twenty three,
- 11:56Speaker 3: I was fifty two. Wait, let me do the math.
- 12:02Speaker 3: Sixty eight to fifty two?
- 12:09Speaker 2: How old are you? What? What the hell is wrong
- 12:12Speaker 2: with me?
- 12:12Speaker 3: This is something you'll obviously say.
- 12:15Speaker 1: This is what I have every time because I'm in
- 12:17Speaker 1: the thick. I'm forty seven. I'm in the thick of
- 12:20Speaker 1: the brain fog perimenopause. And now everyone who has meetings
- 12:24Speaker 1: with me weekly, they're just like, okay, hey, they I'm like,
- 12:26Speaker 1: what was I saying?
- 12:28Speaker 2: Sentence?
- 12:30Speaker 3: Okay, hello, Spring of twenty twenty three, I was fifty three.
- 12:37Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 12:37Speaker 1: Okay, so now you're I'm fifty six, fifty six.
- 12:43Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 12:43Speaker 1: So did you feel like, as all of these things
- 12:47Speaker 1: were happening over the years, this is just how I'm
- 12:50Speaker 1: going to be because you're exercising regularly.
- 12:54Speaker 2: I mean, you know, you eat healthy.
- 12:58Speaker 1: We figured that out right when we first started working together.
- 13:01Speaker 1: But there were some things we learned along the way.
- 13:04Speaker 1: But okay, so here you are and you're just like, well,
- 13:08Speaker 1: but the scale is still not moving and I've gained
- 13:11Speaker 1: this way. And for you, there was a there was
- 13:16Speaker 1: an emotional, you know, connection with like, I just want
- 13:21Speaker 1: to feel myself Like I don't want to be twenty
- 13:24Speaker 1: year old, twenty years old again, but I want to
- 13:27Speaker 1: feel like myself and I don't recognize myself.
- 13:30Speaker 2: So let's begin there.
- 13:34Speaker 3: For sure, I think that a lot of women say,
- 13:42Speaker 3: in my activity level, in my activity behavior, our first
- 13:50Speaker 3: step is to reach out to someone that's an expert
- 13:56Speaker 3: that can help me. And then the next piece of
- 14:00Speaker 3: it is to ingest everything you can possibly ingest to
- 14:05Speaker 3: learn to understand, to be able to speak this new language.
- 14:11Speaker 3: And that's exactly what I did for four years. I
- 14:16Speaker 3: was consuming everything I possibly could to understand what I
- 14:22Speaker 3: was going through, how to adjust my behavior, how to relearn,
- 14:28Speaker 3: and also I was surrounding myself with professionals that could
- 14:33Speaker 3: help guide me in this phase. So by the time
- 14:37Speaker 3: I reached you, I was a broken person. I really
- 14:44Speaker 3: felt like, is this where is this my new normal now?
- 14:50Speaker 3: Like had my years of just being able to be healthy,
- 14:56Speaker 3: thinking about my lab work, of being able to be active,
- 15:01Speaker 3: thinking about my injuries and my ability to go out
- 15:06Speaker 3: and run and just enjoy the outdoors and have that
- 15:10Speaker 3: stress reduction, Like, has all of this change now? And
- 15:15Speaker 3: I have to take this hard right and start going
- 15:19Speaker 3: down a new path. So I was broken when I
- 15:24Speaker 3: got to you, And I think at one point I
- 15:28Speaker 3: captured just an overview of my perimenopause journey and I
- 15:34Speaker 3: shared with you it might make me a little teary
- 15:37Speaker 3: that I was hiding out in like blousy summer dresses,
- 15:42Speaker 3: in blousy pants and loose tops, and I wouldn't even
- 15:48Speaker 3: change in front of my husband anymore because I felt
- 15:52Speaker 3: like I'm just disappearing into our wall. You know, I
- 15:58Speaker 3: didn't feel good about myself.
- 16:03Speaker 1: And that was the most emotional part when you wrote
- 16:06Speaker 1: that is that resonates because I hear this so much
- 16:13Speaker 1: and maybe not in that depth when people just originally
- 16:17Speaker 1: reach out to me, but they're just like they just
- 16:22Speaker 1: feel defeated.
- 16:24Speaker 2: Yeah, and it's like I'm doing all the things.
- 16:28Speaker 1: So I have to say when I started to initially
- 16:31Speaker 1: work with you at first, I was like, sometimes this
- 16:34Speaker 1: is the hardest client to have because if you really
- 16:37Speaker 1: are nailing everything and you're doing it all right, like,
- 16:42Speaker 1: how do we make movement?
- 16:45Speaker 2: You know, are you.
- 16:45Speaker 1: An outlier of something is happening that is out of
- 16:49Speaker 1: my scope of practice, or can we take the information
- 16:54Speaker 1: and education and can we really just try to dial
- 16:57Speaker 1: in a few things and see if we can get
- 17:00Speaker 1: the scale moving.
- 17:01Speaker 2: In a healthy way.
- 17:03Speaker 1: So I was very direct about that, and I hope
- 17:05Speaker 1: that you would back me on this and you feel
- 17:08Speaker 1: the same way that I wasn't, Like, all right, Tammy,
- 17:10Speaker 1: we're gonna cut you to nine hundred calories a day.
- 17:14Speaker 2: You're gonna lose weight because you would, but at a cost.
- 17:18Speaker 3: Yeah, Well, to coincide with.
- 17:23Speaker 2: The emotion around.
- 17:27Speaker 3: My new normal at that time was a concern for
- 17:31Speaker 3: my health and as I said, my cardiac numbers had skyrocketed.
- 17:38Speaker 3: So now all of a sudden, you start having those
- 17:40Speaker 3: conversations with your endocrinologist about certain supplements to help bring
- 17:46Speaker 3: that down. Then the next conversation is statins. You know
- 17:52Speaker 3: that for someone who has never been had to rely
- 17:57Speaker 3: upon medications, I've been healthy my whole life. You start
- 18:01Speaker 3: thinking about I don't want to go down that track,
- 18:06Speaker 3: like I've fixed everything that has come up for me
- 18:10Speaker 3: in my health by peeling back the layers and looking
- 18:14Speaker 3: at what am I consuming, what is my lifestyle, not
- 18:19Speaker 3: immediately looking for a pill. So in addition to into
- 18:25Speaker 3: that concern about oh my gosh, my weight and my activity,
- 18:28Speaker 3: like how do I get this back? Was also about
- 18:33Speaker 3: my health.
- 18:35Speaker 1: So when we first started, I remember you the first
- 18:38Speaker 1: couple of weeks and I'm like, all right, clearly you
- 18:41Speaker 1: eat well, but we really want to dive into what
- 18:44Speaker 1: does that look like? And I will say right now,
- 18:48Speaker 1: there's no perfect macro split, but there are macro ranges,
- 18:52Speaker 1: and so we really talked about like hitting that protein number.
- 18:55Speaker 2: Yes. But then also.
- 18:59Speaker 1: I think, and this is not for everyone, because I
- 19:01Speaker 1: know there's a lot of women with eating, you know,
- 19:04Speaker 1: with disordered eating that can't go down this road. But
- 19:07Speaker 1: for someone you know, I wanted you to get a
- 19:12Speaker 1: scale and actually way because you're like, well, I'm having
- 19:14Speaker 1: this protein shake, it's great. But then when we started
- 19:16Speaker 1: to in put the calories. I remember you coming to
- 19:20Speaker 1: me and you were like, Hayley, my morning smoothie was
- 19:22Speaker 1: like seven hundred calories and I was like, okay, well,
- 19:28Speaker 1: what did you think it was maybe four hundred? Okay,
- 19:31Speaker 1: So there's almost like your deficit right there.
- 19:34Speaker 2: And you it was healthy food and this is not like.
- 19:37Speaker 1: Every you know, all of those foods just because they're healthy.
- 19:41Speaker 1: We still have to tailor in some things if we
- 19:45Speaker 1: want to try to get some movement in a healthy way.
- 19:48Speaker 1: So what did you learn about that first month?
- 19:53Speaker 3: Yeah, so you know, some of the messaging that I
- 19:56Speaker 3: had received over the course of the last few years
- 20:01Speaker 3: was also about letting go of counting calories, letting go
- 20:08Speaker 3: of tracking, because again, people like me who have this
- 20:14Speaker 3: activity lifestyle, it's always about what are my nutrition windows,
- 20:20Speaker 3: what's my timing around nutrition, what am I consuming? What
- 20:24Speaker 3: are my macros?
- 20:25Speaker 2: And that can spin a short out.
- 20:29Speaker 3: So over the course of these last few years, I
- 20:32Speaker 3: had let that go. And what I realized when I
- 20:37Speaker 3: bought my little thirteen dollars.
- 20:40Speaker 2: Mood scale was.
- 20:42Speaker 3: I had lost connection with what a tablespoon actually was,
- 20:49Speaker 3: or what three ounces or four ounces or six ounces
- 20:53Speaker 3: of meat actually was. And that was a huge awakening me.
- 21:03Speaker 3: At the time that you and I connected, I was
- 21:06Speaker 3: willing to do. It's like, well, what the heck, what
- 21:09Speaker 3: do I have to lose. I'm going to follow her
- 21:12Speaker 3: path and her direction and if in four months I
- 21:15Speaker 3: go absolutely nowhere, okay, but what.
- 21:19Speaker 2: Do I have to lose?
- 21:21Speaker 3: So to take a couple of weeks and really familiarize
- 21:24Speaker 3: myself with announce a cup a whatever. It wasn't brain surgery,
- 21:30Speaker 3: you know, it just took a little bit more time.
- 21:33Speaker 3: And it was a huge awakening that I had really
- 21:36Speaker 3: lost sight of what a serving is. Yeah.
- 21:41Speaker 1: Yeah, And I mean I think that's the important part
- 21:43Speaker 1: is I don't recommend calorie counting, and I mean I
- 21:46Speaker 1: never did up until I got into the space and
- 21:50Speaker 1: I started working for myself with someone and then you know,
- 21:54Speaker 1: morph to where I am today. But it is an
- 21:56Speaker 1: educational tool to be used at a certain time, not
- 21:59Speaker 1: year round, not obsessively, not taking all of like you know,
- 22:04Speaker 1: your food scale on vacation, and you can never relaxed.
- 22:06Speaker 2: It is teaching.
- 22:07Speaker 1: How do we look at the education to see what
- 22:09Speaker 1: those serving sizes dial it in and then we have
- 22:13Speaker 1: the freedom to have more of this lifestyline approach. So
- 22:18Speaker 1: since we've been working together since September, how much weight
- 22:22Speaker 1: have you lost?
- 22:23Speaker 3: I've lost seventeen pounds, which I every week.
- 22:27Speaker 1: It's like cheering and I want to cry because when
- 22:30Speaker 1: I look at your when I look at your measurements
- 22:34Speaker 1: since September, it's now, you know, the first part of January,
- 22:39Speaker 1: we are down four inches from your in your waist,
- 22:44Speaker 1: almost five inches on the thigh, an inch and a
- 22:47Speaker 1: half on the hips, and two inches above the navel.
- 22:51Speaker 2: Down five inches. That's massive. I know, it's massive.
- 22:57Speaker 1: And the weight loss is seventeen pound sounds amazing and
- 23:01Speaker 1: it is. It was done over, you know, thirteen to
- 23:07Speaker 1: fourteen weeks, so this.
- 23:09Speaker 2: Is like when you look at it, but I'm like,
- 23:11Speaker 2: you put in the work. You did the work. It
- 23:13Speaker 2: was not always fun, but you stayed the course.
- 23:17Speaker 1: And did you ever feel like it was erratic, it
- 23:20Speaker 1: was aggressive, that you felt like crap, Like you were
- 23:25Speaker 1: just like I can't do this anymore. How did you
- 23:27Speaker 1: feel during this process?
- 23:30Speaker 3: I know for myself that it usually takes about four
- 23:34Speaker 3: six ish six eight ish weeks before I start to
- 23:39Speaker 3: see movement. It's like my body holds on, it doesn't
- 23:43Speaker 3: know what's happening, but then all of a sudden, once
- 23:45Speaker 3: that domino hits, then I start to see movement. And
- 23:52Speaker 3: so the first four to six weeks, you know, we
- 23:55Speaker 3: would see little shifts. I was just happy to have
- 23:59Speaker 3: an advocate and talking to you once a week. I
- 24:04Speaker 3: don't think it ever felt hard. It never certainly never
- 24:07Speaker 3: felt like a slog. I didn't feel like I'm depriving
- 24:12Speaker 3: myself because I mean, you can get full on protein
- 24:20Speaker 3: pretty quickly and a bunch of vegetables. Like if you're
- 24:24Speaker 3: sitting down and eating junk food, that's one thing, but
- 24:28Speaker 3: if you're eating healthy food, you're gonna feel satiated. So
- 24:35Speaker 3: it never felt like a slog to me. I think
- 24:38Speaker 3: once we took my second round of measurements the end
- 24:43Speaker 3: of September, and even though I wasn't seeing a ton
- 24:47Speaker 3: on the scale, I saw the inches start to move.
- 24:52Speaker 3: That catapulted me a bit. And then I think I
- 24:55Speaker 3: went out about that time and I bought my own
- 24:58Speaker 3: in body scale so I could start to see the
- 25:03Speaker 3: visceral fat, I could see the muscle mass, I could
- 25:06Speaker 3: see the actual body fat. So then it became about
- 25:10Speaker 3: tracking the data and I was I was in and
- 25:13Speaker 3: then the numbers started to move, and we I think
- 25:18Speaker 3: every time we talked it just felt like.
- 25:24Speaker 2: I was like, I'm more excited than you.
- 25:25Speaker 1: Okay, maybe I'm second second more excited, But I mean,
- 25:29Speaker 1: it's been such a lovely journey, Tammy, because again, there
- 25:34Speaker 1: hasn't been It's not like this quick fixed diet like
- 25:36Speaker 1: this has been behavior changes. It's been dialing a few
- 25:40Speaker 1: things because at first, the first month, we didn't move
- 25:42Speaker 1: a lot, and we had to kind of shift and
- 25:43Speaker 1: you're like, oh, okay, now I realized how much was
- 25:46Speaker 1: in this that I was adding. Maybe a little bit
- 25:48Speaker 1: too much. So let's just tailor it down. Let's make
- 25:51Speaker 1: it so that it works for my lifestyle. Sure, there's
- 25:53Speaker 1: still like what we talk about every week is compromise.
- 25:56Speaker 1: Where do you want to spend that? Do you want
- 25:58Speaker 1: to go out and you know, have a glass of wine. Okay,
- 26:02Speaker 1: well then we program that in, but we do have
- 26:05Speaker 1: to still give that give and take of what's important
- 26:08Speaker 1: to me in my budget. And now we're not in
- 26:11Speaker 1: that fat loss phase anymore. We're trying to transition you
- 26:14Speaker 1: out safely and appropriately to where you know you're not
- 26:20Speaker 1: having to but now you have the education and you
- 26:23Speaker 1: know what you can view and see on your plate
- 26:25Speaker 1: and what that looks like, and maybe swapping out some
- 26:28Speaker 1: choices some behavior changes there because you were already really healthy.
- 26:32Speaker 2: But we've also worked through a lot of rep ranges.
- 26:36Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, worked in a way to where programming
- 26:41Speaker 1: is still stimulating you and challenging you, but it doesn't
- 26:47Speaker 1: always look the same. That it kind of fluctuates through
- 26:50Speaker 1: different what programming should look like, it shouldn't always be
- 26:54Speaker 1: the same. So I've just loved having you on as
- 26:58Speaker 1: a client because it shows that at fifty six, you.
- 27:03Speaker 2: Know you're not relying.
- 27:04Speaker 1: It's like, no, you don't all everyone doesn't have to
- 27:07Speaker 1: be on hormo therapy. Everyone doesn't have to, you know,
- 27:10Speaker 1: do this or whatever, but that when you follow a system,
- 27:15Speaker 1: it works.
- 27:17Speaker 3: Yeah, so I would I would maybe bring up three things,
- 27:21Speaker 3: and one is around deprivation. I never deprived myself throughout
- 27:29Speaker 3: everything that we did. In our caloric recommendations, you said
- 27:36Speaker 3: early on, just stick with the big rocks. Prioritize your
- 27:42Speaker 3: protein and prioritize your strength training, and it will fall
- 27:46Speaker 3: into place. There were nights I'm gonna throw myself out
- 27:53Speaker 3: here under the bus. But I like canned whip cream.
- 27:58Speaker 2: That's all hello.
- 28:00Speaker 3: So there were nights I would I'd be at a
- 28:03Speaker 3: point and it's like, well, I have fifty calories left
- 28:07Speaker 3: in my bank and I have a little sweet tooth.
- 28:09Speaker 3: I'm going to do I'm going to do that. Or
- 28:12Speaker 3: I probably went several weeks without drinking just because I
- 28:16Speaker 3: know enough that that's a slippery slope for me and
- 28:22Speaker 3: it opens the door to snacking. So once I got
- 28:27Speaker 3: to a certain point, my husband and I would start
- 28:30Speaker 3: going back out again. And you know, I worked around
- 28:34Speaker 3: having wine, or I worked around having a specific meal
- 28:38Speaker 3: or dessert. I just knew the next day it would
- 28:43Speaker 3: show up on the scale. So I never felt like,
- 28:45Speaker 3: oh my god, I have to wait six weeks before
- 28:47Speaker 3: I can have a piece of pumpkin pie. That was
- 28:51Speaker 3: never our approach. So the other piece of this, which
- 28:57Speaker 3: is significant is I had my blood worked done and
- 29:00Speaker 3: in November, and I was talking earlier in our conversation
- 29:05Speaker 3: today about my cardiac numbers and those cardiac numbers now
- 29:10Speaker 3: have come down significantly, so I am trending back towards normal.
- 29:16Speaker 3: My inflammation markers are spot on, my functions are spot on,
- 29:22Speaker 3: and that blood work is trending back to normal around
- 29:25Speaker 3: my cardiac lab work. So that is a huge deal
- 29:30Speaker 3: for me.
- 29:32Speaker 2: Yeah, massive.
- 29:33Speaker 1: Yeah, Well, in partying, what would some words of advice
- 29:38Speaker 1: be for anyone else who's maybe been in your situation.
- 29:43Speaker 2: Or feels how you have felt.
- 29:45Speaker 3: Yeah, there's a lot of information out in our you know, hello,
- 29:52Speaker 3: in our feeds, you search one thing and all of
- 29:54Speaker 3: a sudden, it's like you have information about supplements, about
- 30:00Speaker 3: out training styles. My feeling is that build your advisory group,
- 30:09Speaker 3: like get your professional resources, find people that you trust,
- 30:14Speaker 3: take in a lot of information around this conversation with
- 30:20Speaker 3: Perry menopause, and listen to your gut. My opinion is,
- 30:28Speaker 3: as much as it is important to take in a
- 30:31Speaker 3: lot of information, it's also really good to just listen
- 30:37Speaker 3: to your gut too and see what feels right for
- 30:41Speaker 3: you and for your lifestyle.
- 30:44Speaker 1: Yes, well, Tammy, thank you so much for having this conversation.
- 30:49Speaker 1: You've been such it has been such an honor for
- 30:52Speaker 1: me to work with you.
- 30:54Speaker 2: You've been just like textbook.
- 30:56Speaker 1: With you, you have done the work and I want
- 30:59Speaker 1: to make sure that everyone And I was like, doesn't
- 31:01Speaker 1: mean that it's easy, but you've done the work, and
- 31:05Speaker 1: you've put in the time, and you've put in the energy,
- 31:07Speaker 1: and you've put in the trust, and I'm just I'm
- 31:11Speaker 1: thrilled with the results that we've had and I'm excited
- 31:15Speaker 1: that we now get to transition you out and you know,
- 31:19Speaker 1: build up on those calories.
- 31:22Speaker 2: We stayed very modest the whole time.
- 31:24Speaker 1: But we got the results that exactly how we should
- 31:28Speaker 1: And I just appreciate you trusting in me, and I
- 31:31Speaker 1: appreciate you sharing your story because again I hear about it,
- 31:35Speaker 1: and it's one thing for me to say it, but
- 31:37Speaker 1: it's another to hear, you know, some actual clients come
- 31:42Speaker 1: forth and know that you can get results after fifty.
- 31:47Speaker 3: Thanks Haley, And I'm really looking forward to now turning
- 31:50Speaker 3: the corner and focusing on more and more strength and
- 31:54Speaker 3: getting my running speeds back to where they were and
- 31:57Speaker 3: just different goals. Yeah different, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 32:01Speaker 1: Well, thank you so much, Tammy, thank you for sharing
- 32:04Speaker 1: your story, Thanks for listening.
