- 0:00Dr. David Friedman:
- 0:00Hello, this is Dr.
- 0:01David Friedman, host of Till You Get Health Radio."
- 0:03What if the fountain of youth wasn't a fountain at all, but a peptide?
- 0:08They're the go-to compounds for people wanting to build muscle, burn fat, heal
- 0:12injuries faster, and even reverse aging.
- 0:15Millions of people are turning to therapeutic peptides.
- 0:19But here's the catch: most have no idea how to use them the, the right way.
- 0:22And of course, there's all the hype, the half-truths, and, and we
- 0:26can't ignore all the TikTok experts.
- 0:28The noise is deafening.
- 0:30So today, we get through the noise with Jay Campbell.
- 0:33He's here to cut through all the confusion, and we're gonna chat
- 0:35about his new book, "Optimize Your Health with Therapeutic Peptides."
- 0:39Whether you're dealing with brain fog, insomnia, injury that won't heal, or you
- 0:43simply wanna be you again and feel like, you know, you wake up, look in the mirror
- 0:47and go, "Yeah, I'm excited about today," stay tuned 'cause this show's for you.
- 0:50We're gonna unlock the future of regenerative medicine one peptide
- 0:54at a time, and it all starts now.
- 1:07Our next guest is recognized as one of the world's leading experts on hormonal
- 1:11optimization and therapeutic peptides.
- 1:14His obsession with peak performance for humans began long before
- 1:18biohacking was a buzzword.
- 1:21As a young competitive athlete, he became fixated on a single question:
- 1:24how do you engineer your own biology to perform at its absolute best?
- 1:29That question carried him through a successful career in competitive men's
- 1:32physique and deep into hormonal science.
- 1:36His "Testosterone Optimization Therapy Bible" became the
- 1:39highest-rated book in its field and the go-to resource on the subject.
- 1:43This was followed by four international bestsellers spanning intermittent
- 1:46fasting, peptide therapy, and full-spectrum health optimization.
- 1:51His long list of media appearances include ESPN, Forbes, NBC, Men's
- 1:55Health, and the New York Post.
- 1:57He's also the co-founder of BioLongevity Labs, and his latest book is "Optimize
- 2:04Your Health with Therapeutic Peptides."
- 2:06Welcome to the show, Jay Campbell.
- 2:08Jay Campbell: Dr.
- 2:08David Friedman, that was such a good, introduction.
- 2:11I think I'm gonna have to hire your PR team or whoever came up with
- 2:14that because that was fantastic.
- 2:16Dr. David Friedman:
- 2:16Yeah.
- 2:17try to keep like, five minutes into 30 seconds.
- 2:19So
- 2:20Jay Campbell: Thank you.
- 2:20That was awesome
- 2:21Dr. David Friedman:
- 2:21that was great.
- 2:22You've been through a lot, so you had a lot to cover.
- 2:24Se- this topic, as I mentioned, is such, is so hot right now,
- 2:26and I appreciate you being here.
- 2:27For the newbies out there, what exactly is a peptide?
- 2:30'Cause there's a little confusion.
- 2:31Jay Campbell: Yeah.
- 2:32And let me first just say, first off, again, thank you for the introduction.
- 2:35you know, we kind of mentioned it as we were talking off air.
- 2:37I honestly believe this, and it's kind of almost annoying because of this,
- 2:41how long I've been in this space.
- 2:43People listening to this show have to be very cautious and very careful where they
- 2:46get their information because right now about 90 to 95% of people, and I am not
- 2:51joking or exaggerating, who are speaking about peptides online have absolutely
- 2:55no idea what they're talking about.
- 2:57And I say that as a person who's been using therapeutic peptides since
- 3:002003 and 2004 when I first started.
- 3:03obviously I've worked with numerous physicians.
- 3:06I've written now three books on the topic.
- 3:08there's actually a book that's coming out in two weeks that no one even knows
- 3:11about that's called Living Leaner, Longer, Stronger, which will be absolutely my,
- 3:17magnum opus because it is everything I've learned about all the things that
- 3:20you and I are gonna talk about today.
- 3:21But a peptide very simply is a fractionated protein or a
- 3:26signaling molecule that is made up of chains of amino acids.
- 3:29So anybody who went to high school and had biology, you know, 101 in
- 3:34their ninth or 10th grade year knows what an amino acid is and knows
- 3:37what a chain of amino acids is.
- 3:39So that's really what peptides are, and they're mostly naturally found in
- 3:43the human body and naturally occurring.
- 3:44And again, as signaling molecules, they do a lot of things to regulate
- 3:48and improve and, you know, as I say, optimize biological processes
- 3:53Dr. David Friedman:
- 3:53That's great.
- 3:53But now you say that it's the best kept secret in health and wellness.
- 3:56What's kept them from going mainstream, and why are so many
- 3:59doctors still clueless about them?
- 4:02Jay Campbell: Yeah, Dr.
- 4:02David Friedman.
- 4:02I love you, bro.
- 4:04We are gonna become friends off air.
- 4:06Um,
- 4:06Dr. David Friedman:
- 4:06Brother from another mother.
- 4:08Jay Campbell: Listen, it's a very simple answer.
- 4:10The pharmaceutical industry, which as you know has captured medicine, cannot at this
- 4:16point, and trust me, they work feverishly night in and night out to figure it
- 4:20out, they cannot patent the naturally occurring signaling mo-molecules.
- 4:25So they can't make super expensive drugs that obviously that they would then,
- 4:29inscribe their pharmaceutical, you know, giants and then their pharma reps, which
- 4:34then invade the doctors', rooms and offices and businesses to, brainwash them
- 4:38and entrain them on, prescribing these.
- 4:40So that's the main reason that they haven't become mainstream,
- 4:44again, from a clinical perspective.
- 4:45But David, I would argue they have become mainstream from a user perspective,
- 4:50and obviously that all started with GLP peptides about four years ago.
- 4:54And my book, you know, you mentioned it, "Optimize Your Health with
- 4:56Therapeutic Peptides," came into the marketplace on January 31st, 2023.
- 5:02And I like to tell people, and obviously I have no proof of this, but this is
- 5:05just based on, you know, what I've observed, and my team has, given me from
- 5:09an analytics standpoint, is that lots of people were seeking alternative forms
- 5:13of healing due to the vaccine, COVID.
- 5:16everything that happened or transpired from 2020 to 2023, my book came out at
- 5:21that exact time, and it really, I think, exploded into the consciousness of people
- 5:25that were seeking alternative health
- 5:26Dr. David Friedman:
- 5:26you mentioned, our bodies already make peptides naturally.
- 5:29So the big question people are wondering, then why do we need to supplement them?
- 5:32Is it because we produce fewer of them as we age?
- 5:35Is there certain ailments that cause them to, be depleted?
- 5:38what's the rationale for needing them from third party?
- 5:41Jay Campbell: Yeah.
- 5:41So that's a good question.
- 5:42And the answer is yes, and also due to the contamination in our environment.
- 5:47You know, I talk about this obviously all over the world, and it's not just,
- 5:51the degradation of our cellular processes from the environment, it's also just
- 5:56the degradation from everything, David.
- 5:58I mean, from the food that we eat, the air that we breathe, the water that we drink.
- 6:01Almost everything in the modernized world is full of chemicals,
- 6:06plastics, phthalates, BPA, endocrine-disrupting chemicals, et cetera.
- 6:10And so as we get older, we are being bombarded cellularly with
- 6:14all of these adjuvants and these contaminants, as I like to call them.
- 6:17And so, yes, they degrade natural, aging processes much faster than somebody
- 6:22who was living 100 years ago not faced with all of this modernization
- 6:25Dr. David Friedman:
- 6:25Yeah.
- 6:25So Troy, I know most people have heard of Ozempic and the other GLP-1
- 6:28medications, but they don't realize that's just one category of peptides.
- 6:32Can you explain the difference and where therapeutic peptides maybe fit into the
- 6:36bigger picture of health for optimization?
- 6:38Jay Campbell: Yeah, for sure.
- 6:39So there's a lot of peptides.
- 6:40R- as of last count, there were about 49 that were
- 6:43commercially available right now.
- 6:45And when I mean commercially available, they're actually
- 6:47synthesized, in a pharmaceutical, what is called an API facility.
- 6:51And by the way, they're almost all in China or some are in India.
- 6:54We are building them in the United States right now, but they are
- 6:57not yet ready for prime time.
- 6:58But active pharmaceutical ingredient or API is the actual, call it caked
- 7:03material that is sent to the United States or whatever Western country, and
- 7:07then lyophilized, which basically is a process of extending the efficacy of
- 7:12the half-life or actually extending the efficacy of the actual base constituent
- 7:15peptide, and then bottled and of course labeled and then sold to the public.
- 7:20And the public is able, right now in the United States, able to purchase them
- 7:24in basically one of two ways or both.
- 7:27They can get them from a physician's prescription and then that prescription
- 7:30is, filled at a compounding pharmacy.
- 7:33And then the other option is people have the right to research on
- 7:36themselves and they can buy them from a direct-to-consumer platform such as
- 7:40our company, BioLongevity Labs, and then obviously can order them to their
- 7:44house and then use them on theirself.
- 7:45And as everyone has a First Amendment right to research on themselves, and
- 7:48obviously the courts recognize that.
- 7:50So those are the two options.
- 7:51But to your original question, you have a number of peptides from a standpoint of…
- 7:56The best way to classify them is like I put them in a sandbox model.
- 7:59You have mitochondrial optimizing peptides, you have cognitive restoring
- 8:03and enhancing peptides, you have healing and longevity and, immunity
- 8:08peptides, and then of course you also have fat loss and muscle building.
- 8:11You already mentioned GLP-1s.
- 8:13But you've got those four or five classifications or categories of peptides.
- 8:17And as I tell people, and again when I talk about this, it's a lot of
- 8:20people get the shiny object syndrome because they're like, "Ooh, I want this
- 8:23peptide and I want that peptide because this'll do this or this'll do that."
- 8:27And I always tell people the most important way and to understand to
- 8:30start these is figure out what are the biggest issue you have as an individual.
- 8:34And obviously for most people that are probably listening to this in
- 8:36your audience, they have, you know, a fat loss or a weight loss issue.
- 8:39They might wanna lose 10, 15, 20, 25 pounds.
- 8:42Some people are worse.
- 8:43And so in that capacity, you're probably gonna wanna start off
- 8:46with like a GLP-2 or a GLP-3.
- 8:49And once you understand how to use those, and we can get into that, then you can
- 8:52throw in some maybe muscle building stuff, some maybe life extension stuff, some
- 8:56fat loss stuff that's on top of the GLP.
- 8:58So, it really just comes down to what you're looking to do and
- 9:01obviously focusing on that one issue and solving for that before you
- 9:05start using a bunch of different
- 9:06Dr. David Friedman:
- 9:06Yeah.
- 9:07I got to tell you a story.
- 9:08So an MD comes in, I treat quite a few of them, and I asked one, I said, "So
- 9:11what's your view on, uh, peptides?"
- 9:12"Oh, I don't believe them.
- 9:13They don't work."
- 9:14or…"
- 9:14And, but no, get this, get this.
- 9:15I said, "But don't you prescribe, uh, GLP-1s and Ozempic?"
- 9:18He went, "Yeah."
- 9:19I said, "So you don't believe me?"
- 9:20"No, that's not a peptide."
- 9:21No ju- I kid you not.
- 9:23Didn't know that was a peptide.
- 9:24I'm like, "Whoa."
- 9:26Jay Campbell: David, I'm not kidding you when I tell you this.
- 9:28that is very commonplace.
- 9:29When I went to…
- 9:31the Longevity Conference, which I go every year in Vegas, Dr.
- 9:34Bob Goldman and Dr.
- 9:35Ronald Katz, you know, now it's called Longevity Fest.
- 9:37It used to be the A4M conference, but now it's Longevity Fest.
- 9:40This past year I went to 10 different compounding booths, compounding pharmacy
- 9:46booths, and I asked the people working at the booth, "Can you tell me…"
- 9:49It was just my intro question.
- 9:50A lot of them knew who I was, but they were…
- 9:52I was like, "Can you tell me what GLP stands for?"
- 9:54And of the 10 booths that I went to, not a single person working the
- 9:58booths even knew what it stood for.
- 10:00And by the way, just for the audience's sake, it stands for glucagon-like peptide.
- 10:04But yes, this is the problem that we have, and as I said, why I said 90 to
- 10:0895% of people have no idea what they're talking about when they speak about these.
- 10:12And this is obviously also with clinicians, influencers,
- 10:17really truthfully subject matter experts who should know better.
- 10:20But again, because it's such a buzzword and so many people are talking about
- 10:23it, you know, soccer moms are selling peptides out of the back of their SUVs.
- 10:27so it's just an insane world that we've entered right now.
- 10:29But it's like I said, the, most important thing is to understand that
- 10:32peptides merely nothing more than tools.
- 10:35They're not magic bullets.
- 10:36They're not easy buttons.
- 10:38A person has to have their lifestyle dialed in.
- 10:40They should know whether or not they're suffering from a hormone deficiency.
- 10:44They should obviously be doing resistance training and cardiovascular training.
- 10:47They have to be eating enough protein, especially if they're using a GLP,
- 10:50because GLPs are very powerful, drugs, and they can cause muscle loss.
- 10:54Look, all the side effects that you and I and your listening audience
- 10:58have seen and heard about in the mainstream are real and true, but it's
- 11:02not because the drugs are the problem.
- 11:04The problem is the end user does not have the understanding or the awareness
- 11:08on how to use these interventions.
- 11:10And so my job and your job and people like us is to teach people that they're
- 11:15nothing more than tools, and that when they're used correctly and in the
- 11:18context of health and longevity, they are absolutely life-transforming agents
- 11:24Dr. David Friedman:
- 11:24Yeah.
- 11:24I know they're very popular peptides with athletes, but what about a
- 11:27person who isn't going to the gym?
- 11:29Would they see any benefit, or do peptides really deliver when
- 11:32they're paired with exercise?
- 11:33Jay Campbell: So every person Should go to the gym because as you know,
- 11:39the greatest adjuvant/extender of life is muscle tissue.
- 11:44We know this because all the statistics show us that the leaner
- 11:47you are, the longer you'll live.
- 11:48If you look at all the blue zone studies and you see all the people
- 11:51that are living into their hundreds, all these people have one thing in
- 11:55common: they don't have body fat.
- 11:58They're very thin, they're usually very active.
- 12:02And so the truth is, is if you wanna live longer, as I say, live
- 12:05leaner, longer, stronger, you really do have to build muscle.
- 12:08You don't need to look like a bodybuilder, but you have to have functional,
- 12:11active, lean tissue to strengthen your bones, so you, you avoid osteopenia and
- 12:16sarcopenia as you get older, which as you know, is the leading cause of death.
- 12:19I mean, 'cause it leads to all the diseases of aging.
- 12:21So that's the most important thing.
- 12:23But there are definitely peptides that can help people be motivated to go to the
- 12:28gym because the, mitochondrial stimulation will optimize energy production, and
- 12:32so people will feel more energized.
- 12:34And one of the things about GLP-2 and GLP-3 that I should
- 12:37say is, all the research…
- 12:39and by the way, let me just mention this.
- 12:40I have a book that did come out earlier in the year in February.
- 12:43It's called Metabolic Awakening with GLP Peptides.
- 12:46It's 730 pages and 1,400 clinical references.
- 12:50looking at the data, and I can tell you that the data is now showing that
- 12:54these drugs do far more things, at the brainwave or brainwave patterning
- 12:59level, than they originally were anticipated to do, which was obviously
- 13:03to help with metabolic health.
- 13:04Like, they're curing obsessive compulsive disorders and diseases, like people
- 13:08that have gambling addictions or porn addictions or, weed, vaping, alcohol.
- 13:13A lot of these people start these at the right dose and they find that
- 13:16they never, have these habits again.
- 13:18And again, these are permanent changes that are happening at the brain level.
- 13:21So there's a lot of value and benefit that comes from these drugs.
- 13:25As I said earlier, and I'll say it again and continue to spring it from
- 13:27the mountaintop, is that people have to learn how to use them responsibly.
- 13:32And look, man, the pharmaceutical industry, as you know, does
- 13:36not want people healthy.
- 13:37I give lots of praise and a lot of props to the chemists at Eli Lilly and Novo
- 13:42Nordisk and all these giant pharmaceutical manufacturers because they're brilliant,
- 13:45but at the end of the day, David, their job is not to drive human health or
- 13:49improve human health, it's to sell drugs.
- 13:51So they're not gonna teach their pharmaceutical reps, and the
- 13:54pharmaceutical reps aren't gonna teach the doctors how to use them any more than
- 13:58they're gonna teach them to sell the most and start people at the highest dosage.
- 14:02So we as educators have to let people know that there's a better and more
- 14:06instructive way to use these products.
- 14:08And again, when you understand how that is, and again, it's microdosing,
- 14:11we can talk about that if you want, they're always, beneficial.
- 14:14And again, in the data, in the scientific studies, it shows that
- 14:18microdosing from the beginning actually maintains the weight loss.
- 14:22So people are not addicted or as, a lot of people like to say in the mainstream
- 14:26to being on these things for life.
- 14:28Responsible use and education and awareness of how to use them
- 14:32actually makes them just a consumer who can use them whenever they
- 14:35have a desire at any point in their life so they don't stay addicted
- 14:38Dr. David Friedman:
- 14:38So talk to me about the peptides are being injected scares a lot of people off.
- 14:43I've seen patches now and nasal spray options.
- 14:46Are these as effective or do we really have to go with the injections?
- 14:49Jay Campbell: So the answer is, right now, delivery systems for
- 14:52peptides are dramatically improving.
- 14:54as you said, 80% of people do have a needle phobia when they first start
- 15:00to work with therapeutic peptides from an injection standpoint.
- 15:03And I think it's important that the audience understands that injection
- 15:06will always be the highest impact delivery system because of two reasons.
- 15:10Number one, when you inject, you cross the blood-brain barrier the fastest,
- 15:14and number two, you will get the peptide into what is called parental or portal
- 15:19systemic circulation the fastest, so that, if you have an issue at a specific point
- 15:23of the body and the peptide is designed to, address it, the injection, gets it
- 15:27there the fastest and most efficient way.
- 15:28So those are the two reasons why injection will always be the highest impact.
- 15:32But to your question, there are multiple new delivery systems and formats
- 15:35that are coming into the marketplace.
- 15:37There are patches.
- 15:39There are, also, what are called, strips.
- 15:42M- there's a different name for them now from a patent standpoint,
- 15:44but they're basically these little lozenges/wafers that people can put on
- 15:49their tongue, and then it lifts to the roof of the mouth, and it's actually…
- 15:53the peptide is actually absorbed through buccal, delivery, which
- 15:56basically means it goes down through the gums and also through, the
- 15:59walls of the back of your throat.
- 16:00So, it actually bypasses/avoids, digestive and systemic,
- 16:05absorption that way so that…
- 16:06because as you know, a lot of times oral peptides, when they
- 16:09get into, the digestive tract can be broken down a lot easier.
- 16:12So that's why we don't really use a lot of oral peptides.
- 16:15There are oral peptides that will work, and those are the ones
- 16:17that are designed for the actual microbiome or the gut specifically.
- 16:21But those, are gonna be your biggest impact delivery systems right now.
- 16:24And I can tell you that within the next, I wanna say somewhere between 12 to
- 16:2918 months, there are gonna be patches that have extremely high micron needle
- 16:34formats, which will be like 60 to 80.
- 16:37And once those patches are out, it'll be like a Star Trek type thing where
- 16:40you just walk up and put like a Velcro patch on your arm and you won't even
- 16:43feel it and it can deliver the peptide.
- 16:45And it will also be able to deliver different blends of peptides.
- 16:48So, the best thing to say is that the technology for delivery systems is
- 16:51dramatically improving, and my guess is that within two years we'll have something
- 16:56that's very equal to an injection so that the people that have that
- 16:59needle phobia or that injection phobia
- 17:00will
- 17:01Dr. David Friedman:
- 17:01Yeah.
- 17:01Greg, y-you mentioned digestive disorders.
- 17:03So common now.
- 17:04Many have tried diets, supplements, and medication without lasting relief.
- 17:08How can therapeutic peptides offer hope for these people?
- 17:10Is there currently ones you can mention or…
- 17:13Jay Campbell: Yeah, absolutely.
- 17:14so right now, what's going on at the global level in the United States from
- 17:18the FDA standpoint is that actually in a eight days from today, seven to eight
- 17:22days from today, there's actually gonna be a giant pharmacy committee meeting,
- 17:26and The FDA is obviously involved in this panel, and they're going to be
- 17:29deciding on the benefit of nine specific peptides that they're considering moving
- 17:34from Class 2 to Class 1, which basically means, right now they're considered
- 17:39maybe unsafe and not studied well enough.
- 17:41And if they…
- 17:41That's Class 2.
- 17:42If they move them to Class 1, they'll be considered safe and able to prescribe.
- 17:45It's all a game, as you know, with the FDA.
- 17:46But the reality is, is that the peptides that will help for the microbiome and
- 17:51gut issues are BPC 157, which stands for body protective compound 157.
- 17:56And there's a bunch of other peptides and small molecules that also can help with
- 18:00digestion, cleaning bacteria in the gut.
- 18:03Again, remember the food supply in the United States is toxic, and so
- 18:07if people are eating GMO boxed food stuffs, and obviously fast food
- 18:10and all the other chemical-laden foods, they really have a disturbed,
- 18:14if not only disrupted microbiome.
- 18:16And so you can take peptides that can really suppress inflammation and
- 18:20can also improve gut health by just, upregulating the cleansing bacteria
- 18:24and getting rid of the virulent pathogens that are in the stomach.
- 18:27And some of those other peptides would be, TB 500, which is Thymosin Beta 4 500.
- 18:32there's another peptide called Lazerotide, and that actually is a really powerful
- 18:36small molecule to improve gut health.
- 18:38We actually, at BioLongevity Labs, make a supplement called Bio Gut Pro, and it's
- 18:44specifically designed with six different peptides and a couple other small
- 18:48molecules to enhance absorption to address anybody that has, severe gut issues.
- 18:53You know, obviously SIBO, candida, yeast infections, stuff like that.
- 18:57So there definitely are peptides, obviously, that can help with that.
- 19:00But I always tell people, again, you're gonna have to change your lifestyle
- 19:03to live insulin controlled and, eat cleaner in order to get rid of the
- 19:07stuff that's going on in your stomach.
- 19:08And obviously, as you know, it's very difficult in the United States today
- 19:11because the food supply is so contaminated
- 19:13Dr. David Friedman:
- 19:13Yeah.
- 19:13What about the two complaints I hear the most about poor sleep and low energy?
- 19:16They kind of go hand in hand.
- 19:17You don't sleep well, you don't have energy, can't function at your best.
- 19:20Are there therapeutic peptides that can improve sleep quality
- 19:23and help restore energy?
- 19:24Jay Campbell: 100%.
- 19:25So DSIP, which is delta sleep inducing peptide, is a peptide that people can
- 19:29take to, to improve what is known as polyphasic or deep restorative sleep.
- 19:34There's some other ones.
- 19:35There's oxytocin, melanotan I.
- 19:38but then again, for energy, you're really looking at the mitochondrial
- 19:41peptides, and there's so many of them.
- 19:43SS-31, which is now known as elamipretide.
- 19:46you've got 5-amino-1-MQ.
- 19:48you also have, obviously MOTS-c, which a lot of people consider exercise in a
- 19:52bottle because it's so very, very powerful in improving mitochondrial health.
- 19:56there's others, NAD+.
- 19:58there's probably two or three other that I'm leaving off.
- 20:00I
- 20:00Dr. David Friedman:
- 20:00Yeah.
- 20:01There's one-- What about C- I think Celang?
- 20:03Is that what it's called?
- 20:03I've heard
- 20:04about that
- 20:04Jay Campbell: Selank and Semax are more of nootropic peptides,
- 20:07and those are all very, very good in restoring cognitive function.
- 20:11Selank is actually an anxiolytic, so it'll actually, really help people that
- 20:15are stressed out, and just basically, their parasympathetic is overactivated.
- 20:20So it's a very, very good peptide for that
- 20:22Dr. David Friedman:
- 20:22So that's 95% of people listening.
- 20:23Okay, you heard it.
- 20:26Jay Campbell: Most likely, yes
- 20:28Dr. David Friedman:
- 20:28That's, now you mentioned peptides can help injuries heal faster.
- 20:31How does that work and which peptides are athletes going to
- 20:33to bounce back from injuries?
- 20:35Jay Campbell: Yeah.
- 20:35So for sure, the three strongest peptides that improve healing, and I think the best
- 20:40way to define healing is obviously first off to increase angiogenesis, which is
- 20:44gonna restore red blood cell and lymph, to the targeted area that has been injured.
- 20:49and then you have s- inflammation suppression, so you're sending
- 20:52like, suppressing cytokines and interleukin and whatnot.
- 20:55And both of those products would be BPC 157, which again is body protective
- 20:59compound, which is literally found naturally in human gastric juice.
- 21:03But when it's injected or orally swallowed or again intranasally, inhaled, can
- 21:07really speed the rate of angiogenesis.
- 21:09And TB 500, which is Thymosin Beta 500, is its sister or call it
- 21:15brother molecule because it helps with suppressing inflammation.
- 21:18So when you take both of them together, a lot of people refer to
- 21:22that as the Wolverine healing stack.
- 21:24It can actually accelerate healing up to 7 to 10 times faster than just
- 21:28the normal, you know, RICE, which is obviously rest, ice, compression,
- 21:31elevation, old school methodology.
- 21:33And then I would mention one other peptide, which is profound, and it
- 21:37is known as Cartilax, and it is a Russian bioregulator peptide that
- 21:41actually, knock on wood, helps with, cartilage regeneration.
- 21:45So obviously that's kind of the big missing link, in health today is,
- 21:48helping people have a stronger, thicker, space between the joint capsules.
- 21:52And so, Cartilax actually helps at, strengthening, call it the
- 21:56supporting tissues around cartilage.
- 21:58It's not gonna regenerate cartilage.
- 21:59It's not that magic yet, but I think that's coming by the way at some point.
- 22:03but it…
- 22:03All three of those if you use those together and you've injured yourself,
- 22:07whether it's a sprained ankle, a cut, a tendon or joint specific
- 22:12issue, if you use those three in combination you will heal dramatically
- 22:16faster than you would if you didn't
- 22:17Dr. David Friedman:
- 22:17Wow.
- 22:17even rotator cuffs, that's very common with athletes.
- 22:20Jay Campbell: Oh,
- 22:20I mean, I have rotator issues.
- 22:21I'm 55 years old, obviously, and a hard-training guy still, and I
- 22:25inject our product, which is called the Regenoblend, which again is
- 22:28those three products specifically, BPC-157, TB-500, and Cartilax, right
- 22:33into the areas where I have soreness.
- 22:34And I'm not kidding you, I mean, literally within 24 to
- 22:3836 hours, the soreness is gone.
- 22:39And if I, you know, had a severe rotator cuff injury, or even like a torn,
- 22:45supraspinatus or something, medial delt, you injured delt or whatever, I would
- 22:48be using that twice a day for at least a month to speed the rate of healing.
- 22:51And obviously, many, many athletes and knowledgeable people do that already
- 22:55Dr. David Friedman:
- 22:55Yeah.
- 22:55Let's get to the question on everybody's mind.
- 22:57We can't skip this one.
- 22:58Are peptides safe?
- 22:59There's a lot of risks out there people are worrying about that it can fuel
- 23:03tumor growth and of course the skeptics.
- 23:05Tell us the truth.
- 23:06are we safe?
- 23:07Jay Campbell: Were 100% safe.
- 23:09in my 23 years of using therapeutic peptides and obviously observing
- 23:14thousands of people, online and in person, I'd say probably now it's
- 23:19in the tens of thousands of people, I've never seen a person overdose.
- 23:22There are side effects like anything else.
- 23:24remember what Tim Ferriss said, the difference between a pill
- 23:27and a poison is the dosage.
- 23:28So for people who are misinformed or uninformed and they, take too
- 23:32much, and obviously that does happen at times because people also aren't
- 23:35knowledgeable on how to dose these appropriately, they can have, mild nausea
- 23:39or they can get what would be called a cellulitis reaction, you know, at the
- 23:43point of injection, which is sometimes red bumps or something like that.
- 23:46But very rarely are you gonna see that.
- 23:48And then to your question of whether or not they cause tumors or accelerate tumor
- 23:52formation, the world's leading oncologist, in peptide therapy, and I forget her
- 23:58name, but she messages me all the time.
- 24:00She's actually made jokes and she sent me an email one day out of the
- 24:03blue and introduced herself to me.
- 24:04And again, I apologize, I can't recall her name right now.
- 24:07If you ever wanna ask me, I'll find it for you.
- 24:08But she said that the dosages that people are using to use therapeutic
- 24:13peptides today are so far away from a dose that would actually have to
- 24:17be used, to actually potentially accelerate or exacerbate, an ontological
- 24:22mutation of the cell, which would be a cancer tumor, a latent one,
- 24:26that she said it's not possible.
- 24:28And so she jokes about it 'cause she's heard, you know, obviously famous
- 24:30doctors and celebrity influencers talk about how they can accelerate
- 24:33cancer, and she laughs and she said that's absolutely not ever gonna
- 24:37happen unless somebody was abusing it.
- 24:38And by the way, I wanna say this too, human growth hormone, Cause people
- 24:42will say, in the medical literature, they say, "Oh, it causes cancerous
- 24:45tumors or can cause cancerous tumors."
- 24:48in all the literature in who they give human growth hormone to, which is
- 24:51dwarves, there has never been a single incidence in all the medical literature
- 24:56of giving human growth hormone to young children who are essentially considered
- 24:59dwarves in history of the evaluation.
- 25:02And obviously there are thousands of studies.
- 25:04So There's just a lot of misinformation and a lot of, like, call it fear porn
- 25:09that is out there about, peptides, human growth hormone, or even just growth factor
- 25:13secretagogues that can cause cancer.
- 25:15And I've never seen it, and I always like to speak against it because I
- 25:17don't think it's actually possible unless you're abusing it and
- 25:20you're abusing it for a long time
- 25:22Dr. David Friedman:
- 25:22Right.
- 25:23Right.
- 25:23Time's flying by.
- 25:24Two questions for you we can't not miss.
- 25:25We see research purposes only.
- 25:28That's scaring people.
- 25:29What does that mean if we see that on the peptide?
- 25:32Jay Campbell: So research purposes only means that it's literally
- 25:35intended for research on people who are using it for research purposes.
- 25:40So that could be yourself, that could be your, lab animal, that
- 25:43could be your husband, yourself.
- 25:44it depends on how you perceive it, but the legal definition of it is every consumer
- 25:50in America or person in America, and again, I'm talking about US code here,
- 25:55has a right to research on themselves.
- 25:57what you want to be very cautious of if you are purchasing from the research
- 26:00use only market is you have to make sure that the company that is selling it is
- 26:05offering batch numbers and lot numbers which verify the actual, raw materials and
- 26:10manufactured ingredients in their vials.
- 26:13So you can trace them.
- 26:14they're called traceability.
- 26:16But you should be able to go to a site online to prove that there is an
- 26:20independent third party body, call it research body, that is actually testing
- 26:24and verifying what's on the label.
- 26:25So if you're using research use only, and I have nothing against that, obviously
- 26:29my company does that, be very, very cautious and make sure that the company
- 26:33that you're buying it from is verifying that what is in the labels and what you're
- 26:36paying for is actually 100% or 99.9%
- 26:40of what they say it is
- 26:41Dr. David Friedman:
- 26:41Last question.
- 26:42you mentioned before you got people in their garage selling this stuff,
- 26:45sketchy peptide sellers on TikTok.
- 26:47How can somebody tell a quality source from snake oil?
- 26:50Literally, how do they avoid getting a vial of who knows what?
- 26:53Jay Campbell: That's a great question, and it's exactly what I just said.
- 26:55Verify, verify, verify.
- 26:58As I call it, triple authentication certification or verification, which
- 27:02is you have an independent third party testing the company's, themselves,
- 27:07saying that, you know, their batch number and their lot number is real.
- 27:10And then a lot of companies, including ours, has another company, which is an
- 27:14independent third party, that verifies that there's no heavy metals, there's no
- 27:18lead, there's no contaminants, there's no what is called lipopolysaccharides.
- 27:23and y- between those, say, three companies, which is obviously the
- 27:25manufacturer, the first independent third party testing it, and then the
- 27:28second independent third party, all three of those verifying that the
- 27:32label is correct and to what it says it is, is gonna give you the best,
- 27:36protection as a consumer/patient versus somebody who's, like you
- 27:40said, selling it on TikTok for 49.99
- 27:42saying, "Hey, it's available right now.
- 27:44If you use a coupon code, I'll give you 20% off," or something like that.
- 27:46So you have to be very, very cautious where you get your products from.
- 27:51Again, you have an option.
- 27:52You can get it from a compounding pharmacy with a doctor's prescription,
- 27:56or you can buy them yourself.
- 27:57I didn't say this, but I'll just say this.
- 27:59the difference in the two models is that obviously, if you get it from a pharmacy
- 28:03and a physician, you're gonna pay seven to 10 times the cost, unless you get it
- 28:08from a research use only company, which by the way, is literally selling it to
- 28:12you unready for human use because they're not allowed to sell it for human use.
- 28:15They're selling it for research purposes only
- 28:18Dr. David Friedman:
- 28:18Wow.
- 28:18Fantastic.
- 28:19you've shared some peptacular insights, by the way, Phil.
- 28:22Feel free to use that.
- 28:24I don't need it.
- 28:26Got 30 seconds left.
- 28:27Anything else like to share we didn't cover today?
- 28:29Jay Campbell: thank you so much.
- 28:30I'm very humbled and honored to be here today with you.
- 28:32I know you have a very successful and long-running show, and
- 28:34I'm truly grateful to be here.

- 28:39today, head over to jaycampbell.com,
- 28:42which is literally one of the world's leading resources now for free
- 28:44information about therapeutic peptides.
- 28:47You know, I also talk a lot about fasting and hormone optimization, et cetera.
- 28:50And then also look for my newest book, which should be out in early
- 28:54to mid-August, which is called Living Leaner, Longer, Stronger: The Optimal
- 28:59Blueprint for Health and Longevity.
- 29:01That book is my magnum opus, and it is very, very short, but it's made for
- 29:06people who have no understanding of any of the things that I have obviously a
- 29:09good mastery of to really understand.
- 29:11So I, look for that book to make a big impact in the world
- 29:13Dr. David Friedman:
- 29:13Oh, it's great.
- 29:14We'll definitely have you back when that book comes out 'cause you've
- 29:16been, very informative, and I appreciate you being here with us.
- 29:18And, wow, I think you, pulled the wool off people's eyes.
- 29:20I think we got a better concept now.
- 29:22So thank you very much.
