- 0:39Speaker 1: Alligator Believe my guess is that this is the first
- 0:44Speaker 1: Jerry Reed music you people have heard today.
- 0:48Speaker 3: An illegal navigator down into.
- 0:50Speaker 1: Swamp, which is why you're here. So while we're here
- 0:53Speaker 1: most days played the good stuff, the sports from the
- 0:57Speaker 1: program brought to you by Central Texas Sports Medicine. We
- 1:01Speaker 1: have slapped together a show today, believe it or not.
- 1:05Speaker 1: We're going to hear from both the coaches that are
- 1:08Speaker 1: playing in the National Championship next Monday. Kurt Signetti, Mario Cristobaul.
- 1:15Speaker 1: We've got a high school report today, Gavin Grohovic from
- 1:20Speaker 1: the baseball side, and very excited about one of our
- 1:24Speaker 1: guests today, not that we're not excited about all of them,
- 1:27Speaker 1: but Martha Ackman is going to join me. She has
- 1:31Speaker 1: written a biography Dolly Parton called Nobody's Fool. Martha Ackman
- 1:38Speaker 1: will join me on the show today as well. So
- 1:43Speaker 1: the coaches are meeting, and you know that's always a
- 1:46Speaker 1: bad deal. It took him more than three hours today
- 1:49Speaker 1: to decide that they want their red shirts to be
- 1:52Speaker 1: able to play nine games and not four games and
- 1:55Speaker 1: still be able to red shirt. I don't need to
- 2:00Speaker 1: leave this ESPN playoff stuff to the coaches. We need
- 2:05Speaker 1: somebody else still Aizar. Heather Dinich is reporting then exchange
- 2:12Speaker 1: for support of a sixteen team playoff starting this next year.
- 2:19Speaker 1: The Big Ten is asking the ACC to commit to
- 2:23Speaker 1: move to twenty four teams in two or three years.
- 2:30Speaker 1: Eventually we will have every Big Ten and every SEC
- 2:35Speaker 1: team in the playoff. And isn't that what America has
- 2:39Speaker 1: been asking for all along? Ty Simpson, who says he's
- 2:43Speaker 1: going to the NFL Draft. According to several reports, has
- 2:47Speaker 1: been offered up to six and a half million dollars
- 2:51Speaker 1: to stay in college next year. Where'd that six and
- 2:55Speaker 1: a half mil come from?
- 2:57Speaker 4: The U.
- 3:00Speaker 1: Tennessee offered a paltry four mil ole miss four mil
- 3:05Speaker 1: chump change, but for six and a half million. If somebody,
- 3:12Speaker 1: like when I was junior in college, said hey, you
- 3:16Speaker 1: just stay around here another year for six and a
- 3:19Speaker 1: half million, I'd say, well, yeah, I think so. I mean,
- 3:29Speaker 1: I'm taking naps right now. It's college. I'm going to
- 3:33Speaker 1: listen to pretty good music in the evening. You know,
- 3:38Speaker 1: I'm an occasionally turning in a homework assignment. Yeah, for
- 3:45Speaker 1: six and a half million, I'll stay another year. I guess.
- 3:48Speaker 1: Aggie Basketball tonight, six o'clock, the fighting Rick Barnes is
- 3:55Speaker 1: taking on the BUCkies. Tennessee is eleven and five. They're
- 4:02Speaker 1: twenty seven in the net. They're twenty four in this
- 4:06Speaker 1: week's AP ranking. And I believe I read this correctly.
- 4:11Speaker 1: It is the first ranked team A and M will
- 4:14Speaker 1: have played this year while they're ranked. SMU got to
- 4:18Speaker 1: be ranked, but they weren't ranked when they lost. SMU
- 4:23Speaker 1: and nobody else has been ranked. Auburn wasn't ranked I
- 4:29Speaker 1: think when they played last week, so this first ranked
- 4:32Speaker 1: team they played, and it will be at six o'clock.
- 4:37Speaker 1: You can hear the radio broadcast on our partner station
- 4:42Speaker 1: sixteen twenty wta W and the game will be televised
- 4:48Speaker 1: on the SEC network elsewhere. We have got number nineteen
- 4:56Speaker 1: Florida at Oklahoma that will be on the deuce at
- 4:59Speaker 1: eight o'clock, and Alabama and Mississippi State will follow the
- 5:05Speaker 1: A and M game on the SEC network. Vanderbilt, who's
- 5:13Speaker 1: leading the league and ranked tenth and undefeated, is that
- 5:18Speaker 1: number is a Texas tomorrow night, and of course the
- 5:23Speaker 1: Aggies go to Austin on Saturday. I looked online today
- 5:27Speaker 1: for tickets. So here's the deal. If you want to
- 5:32Speaker 1: go to the basketball game in Austin, you can do that,
- 5:37Speaker 1: or for thirty two times what it would cost for
- 5:41Speaker 1: you to go to the basketball game in Austin, you
- 5:44Speaker 1: can go to the National Championship game Monday night in Miami.
- 5:50Speaker 1: The get in price right now is thirty two hundred
- 5:54Speaker 1: dollars and those tickets are only going up. You want
- 6:00Speaker 1: to sit on the between the forty yard lines in
- 6:03Speaker 1: the lower deck on the Indiana side. Twenty one thousand dollars. Okay,
- 6:09Speaker 1: that's what it's going to cost you.
- 6:10Speaker 5: Am I?
- 6:11Speaker 1: Am I in that neighborhood there, Caleb twenty one thousand
- 6:15Speaker 1: right there? So what's that number? Because I can't read it,
- 6:19Speaker 1: it's down to seventeen. Hey, so you guys might want
- 6:23Speaker 1: to wait a couple of days. The prices are tumbling.
- 6:27Speaker 1: So now what's the get in price? Because I was
- 6:30Speaker 1: just up here on huh three even? Okay, there you go.
- 6:37Speaker 1: So the prices are tumbling.
- 6:42Speaker 6: Still.
- 6:43Speaker 1: It is the perfect storm. Mark Cuban is on social
- 6:48Speaker 1: media asking people, Hey, what would be the best way
- 6:53Speaker 1: for Indiana fans to find tickets to the game. Most
- 6:57Speaker 1: of them are saying, Mark, write a check, buy my tickets.
- 7:04Speaker 1: Back to basketball Indiana, Michigan State, Virginia, Louisville, Yukon Seaton Hall.
- 7:13Speaker 1: The Fighting Houston Cougars are hosting West Virginia tonight. That
- 7:19Speaker 1: game is on FS one. Iowa State, which is undefeated,
- 7:25Speaker 1: is at fog Allen Field House. Where is that for parking? Okay,
- 7:32Speaker 1: at the stadium near the stadium, So the get in
- 7:39Speaker 1: parking price is seven hundred and forty seven dollars. I
- 7:42Speaker 1: would take it.
- 7:43Speaker 5: Huh.
- 7:43Speaker 7: You could just park next to the stadium and have
- 7:45Speaker 7: a toad and pay the impound.
- 7:46Speaker 8: Fee and be cheaper.
- 7:48Speaker 1: Well, you could do that, or you could rent a limo.
- 7:53Speaker 9: Both of those things would be cheaper.
- 7:54Speaker 1: Both would be cheaper for sure. Uber, if it could
- 7:59Speaker 1: get me within say five blocks of the stadium, I
- 8:02Speaker 1: mean that one at the beggest. Yeah, but I think
- 8:06Speaker 1: they could do it. Uh, this stadium, if you've never
- 8:11Speaker 1: been by it, it's it's in far north Miami. It's
- 8:15Speaker 1: in far south Fort Lauderdale. Basically right, it's on the freeway.
- 8:21Speaker 1: Not the prettiest area that Miami has to offer.
- 8:26Speaker 4: Uh.
- 8:26Speaker 1: Arizona is acquiring eight time All Star infielder Nolan Aeronado
- 8:33Speaker 1: from the Cardinals. According to Jeff Passing at ESPN, Aeronato
- 8:38Speaker 1: has waived is no trade clause to complete the deal.
- 8:42Speaker 1: The Cardinals receiving twenty twenty five eighth round pick Jack Martinez,
- 8:48Speaker 1: a right handed pitcher. They are paying thirty one of
- 8:53Speaker 1: the forty two million dollars. Aeronado hit a career low
- 8:59Speaker 1: two thirty six last year with twelve homers and fifty
- 9:02Speaker 1: two ribbis. Only played in one hundred and seven games. Arizona,
- 9:08Speaker 1: of course, wanting an Aeronado that's better than that Kansas
- 9:14Speaker 1: City Royals, according to Jeff Passon, expect it would have
- 9:18Speaker 1: announce major changes to the dimensions of Kaufman Stadium, moving
- 9:25Speaker 1: the majority of their outfield fences in by ten feet
- 9:30Speaker 1: to create a more hitter friendly environment that has long
- 9:35Speaker 1: been considered a pitchers ballpark. Years of discussion by the
- 9:41Speaker 1: front office about tinkering with the dimensions at Kaufman Stadium,
- 9:48Speaker 1: a middle ground between the flyball dead zone and other
- 9:52Speaker 1: stadiums where home runs sore at extreme rates. GMJJ Piccolo
- 9:58Speaker 1: telling ESPN, we went a neutral ballpark. If you hit
- 10:02Speaker 1: a ball well, it should be a home run. The
- 10:05Speaker 1: second they start feeling like they can't hit the ball
- 10:08Speaker 1: out of the ballpark, they start changing their swing.
- 10:14Speaker 6: Interesting.
- 10:17Speaker 1: Okay, we're gonna take a break. Scott Clendenna will be
- 10:21Speaker 1: with me tomorrow. We'll have our Clark Eisenhower Outdoors Show
- 10:24Speaker 1: on Thursday. We're going to talk about water quality in
- 10:27Speaker 1: baff and Bay, not in Florida. We spent a lot
- 10:29Speaker 1: of time doing that. It's much closer to home. That's
- 10:33Speaker 1: on Thursday, we'll have some animal attacks. You know that.
- 10:37Speaker 1: Kirk Bowls will join me on Friday along with Young Ryan,
- 10:42Speaker 1: So we got that going on for us, which is nice.
- 10:45Speaker 1: And then next week I'm gonna be visiting with Monty Burke.
- 10:48Speaker 1: I've had money on the show before. He has written
- 10:51Speaker 1: a brand new book called Men of Troy Legendary Afternoons,
- 10:56Speaker 1: Wild Nights and Enduring Legacy of Pete Carroll's u USC Trojans.
- 11:01Speaker 1: That is next week on the show. All right, Kurt
- 11:07Speaker 1: Signetti when we come back after this for and co Insurance.
- 11:12Speaker 10: Enco Insurance is now a part of Hub International, bringing
- 11:16Speaker 10: you more choices, better value, and even greater expertise. While
- 11:19Speaker 10: our name has changed, we're still the same local team
- 11:22Speaker 10: you know and trust, now with even more to offer
- 11:24Speaker 10: from business insurance to personal protection and employee benefits. We're

- 11:31Speaker 10: service you expect now with the strength of Hub International
- 11:34Speaker 10: behind us, more resources, more solutions, Still your team and
- 11:38Speaker 10: co Insurance a Hub International company, So you're ready for tomorrow.
- 11:42Speaker 1: It's tech SAgs Live, brought to you by David Garters Jewelers.
- 11:45Speaker 11: You know, here's the other thing, David, I know who
- 11:48Speaker 11: Mike Elko and Howell Brawny. We know who Elcho and
- 11:53Speaker 11: the Aggies targeted in the portal. We know ab and fallback,
- 11:58Speaker 11: you know. And they hit on a very high percentage,
- 12:03Speaker 11: very high percentage of what they wanted. And here are
- 12:06Speaker 11: guys they wanted.
- 12:07Speaker 12: TexAgs live weekdays from eight to eleven on the zone.
- 12:18Speaker 3: There they come in. A farmer.
- 12:21Speaker 13: That's my name, May can mine rounds all over town,
- 12:26Speaker 13: gooding now flame, hell, now a body, I can have
- 12:32Speaker 13: a What I got, I can put on down when
- 12:34Speaker 13: they're smoking.
- 12:36Speaker 3: I'm the mirem.
- 12:38Speaker 13: That's my name, and that's not They had a bad
- 12:43Speaker 13: one of molecute down the road. Everybody walked out and
- 12:48Speaker 13: up perform and burning out of control. And I was
- 12:53Speaker 13: down there in about an hour or so with a
- 12:56Speaker 13: little my mouth.
- 12:57Speaker 3: She was ready to go around on farm. That's my name,
- 13:03Speaker 3: you call me in the fire. That's my name.
- 13:09Speaker 13: From making my rounds all over town going now.

- 13:33Speaker 5: And.
- 13:49Speaker 13: I gotta fine Range and Red steep Bird Automobile.
- 13:55Speaker 3: In a minute over there, I.
- 13:57Speaker 16: Can be dress pen to kill.
- 14:01Speaker 3: I worked winning booron Boro.
- 14:04Speaker 1: Win again, Jesse the King, welcome back. Glad to have
- 14:07Speaker 1: you with us on a Tuesday. We're gonna hear a
- 14:13Speaker 1: little bit from Kurt Signetti, the suddenly world famous coach
- 14:19Speaker 1: of Indiana. I would argue that even two years ago,
- 14:25Speaker 1: maybe even after it was announced he was getting the
- 14:27Speaker 1: Indiana job, if people, I mean only the people in
- 14:32Speaker 1: the state of Indiana cared about it, and the people
- 14:34Speaker 1: at James Madison where he was leaving, certainly cared about
- 14:37Speaker 1: it because he brought seventeen players and a bunch of
- 14:40Speaker 1: coaches with him and almost went to the playoffs with
- 14:43Speaker 1: James Madison when he was there, by the way.
- 14:47Speaker 5: But now.
- 14:50Speaker 1: Just like that little bar it cheers. Everybody knows his name.
- 14:55Speaker 17: Excited to start our prep as a team. We staffed yesterday,
- 15:00Speaker 17: but we're with our players today. A huge challenge against
- 15:03Speaker 17: a great Miami team. Very impressive really in all three phases.
- 15:08Speaker 17: A lot of twitched up athletes, playing fast, playing with
- 15:11Speaker 17: a nasty edge. Coach Crystal Ball's done a great job,
- 15:15Speaker 17: you know. Offensively, Quarterback Carson Beck really playing well, receiving Corps,
- 15:22Speaker 17: impressive offensive line, veteran, impressive running back over eleven hundred yards. Defensively,
- 15:28Speaker 17: you know, really shutting people down, creating turnovers, creating havoc
- 15:32Speaker 17: up front. The two ends are a big challenge. Corey's
- 15:36Speaker 17: got him flying around and their teams are good, so
- 15:40Speaker 17: be a great challenge.
- 15:45Speaker 5: Great.
- 15:46Speaker 18: We'll start with Scott Dockerman.
- 15:50Speaker 19: Hi, Hi, Kurt, this is Scott with the Athletic. I
- 15:54Speaker 19: wanted to ask you about retaining Bob Bostad. What went
- 15:59Speaker 19: into that decision and how much did you know about
- 16:01Speaker 19: Bob before you'd elected to keep him? And then what
- 16:04Speaker 19: were the conversations like as you built the offense because
- 16:08Speaker 19: you hadn't worked with him before, How was the conversations
- 16:11Speaker 19: built as to how you were going to work offensive
- 16:13Speaker 19: line with your passing structure in running structure.
- 16:17Speaker 17: Yeah, I think Bob Bostad was a key addition to
- 16:21Speaker 17: the staff. I had known his name for about ten
- 16:25Speaker 17: or twelve years and his reputation, and when I looked
- 16:30Speaker 17: sort of like who was still who was on the
- 16:33Speaker 17: roster in terms of the coaching staff last year, and
- 16:35Speaker 17: I saw that he had been the line coach that
- 16:38Speaker 17: excited me and I offered him, you know, the opportunity
- 16:42Speaker 17: to stay right away. And you know, I don't think
- 16:48Speaker 17: it took him real long to make a decision. And
- 16:52Speaker 17: you know, in terms of the transition with the offensive staff,
- 16:56Speaker 17: Mike Shanahan at the time, Tino Sincerity quarterback is John
- 17:00Speaker 17: Miller running back coach, Grant Caine tight end coach, had
- 17:02Speaker 17: all been with me at jam you and I'm involved
- 17:04Speaker 17: offensively in the meetings. You know, I think putting it
- 17:09Speaker 17: all together was really easy because Bob's a vet and uh,
- 17:13Speaker 17: you know, his philosophy in terms of the run game
- 17:16Speaker 17: was aligned with mine and Mike's. Uh, and then it
- 17:21Speaker 17: was just a matter of okay, past pro what work
- 17:24Speaker 17: calls be, how we're going to do it. You know
- 17:27Speaker 17: what five man, six man, seven man protections are we
- 17:30Speaker 17: going to carry? And uh, he's just done a tremendous job.
- 17:33Speaker 17: He's a great developer. Uh, you know, he he gets
- 17:37Speaker 17: a ton out of his guys. The whole becomes greater
- 17:40Speaker 17: than some of its parts. And we've been, uh, you know,
- 17:44Speaker 17: very consistent and very balanced between the run and the pass.
- 17:50Speaker 20: Great.
- 17:50Speaker 18: Next we will go to Brandon Marcelo. Brandon, Go ahead, Brandon,
- 18:02Speaker 18: go ahead, and I meet yourself.
- 18:07Speaker 20: There. You got me.
- 18:09Speaker 21: Sorry about that, coach, congrats on the success so far.
- 18:13Speaker 21: I was wondering, when you look at developing and coaching
- 18:16Speaker 21: players throughout the career, how different is a player, say
- 18:21Speaker 21: in year two, compared to say year four or even
- 18:24Speaker 21: year five when you're coaching.
- 18:26Speaker 17: Well, I think when you're talking about the high school signings,
- 18:29Speaker 17: they change a lot between their freshman year and their
- 18:32Speaker 17: their senior year. And now you know their developmental curve
- 18:36Speaker 17: is different. Every guy's a little bit different. Some come
- 18:39Speaker 17: in more ready to play than others. Some it takes
- 18:42Speaker 17: a while to mature physically. Some it's mental. But there's
- 18:47Speaker 17: no question about it that you know twenty two year
- 18:49Speaker 17: old is a little wiser, older, bigger, stronger. He'said four
- 18:55Speaker 17: years in the offense, defense or special teams, and you
- 18:59Speaker 17: know he's a more productive player.
- 19:02Speaker 21: How much has you think has helped your success here
- 19:05Speaker 21: in the early goings there in the first two years
- 19:07Speaker 21: that that you know a lot of the guys or
- 19:10Speaker 21: some of the guys are a little bit older that
- 19:12Speaker 21: can help bring along like second third year guys.
- 19:15Speaker 17: No, I think it helps us a ton. And but
- 19:17Speaker 17: that's what we would look for too. When I came,
- 19:21Speaker 17: you know, it was a quick process, a three day
- 19:23Speaker 17: hiring process. And when I got here, we had ten
- 19:27Speaker 17: offensive starters in a transfer portal and we had one
- 19:29Speaker 17: returner on defense. So we're down to forty scholarships, you know,
- 19:35Speaker 17: by day three, and so you know, we needed to
- 19:38Speaker 17: hit the portal hard. And you know, we signed twenty
- 19:42Speaker 17: two guys that had all been two three year starters
- 19:44Speaker 17: with consistent production. I knew we had flipped a roster.
- 19:48Speaker 17: And then every year, as you you know, as your
- 19:50Speaker 17: high school recruiting builds up, you know, you kind of
- 19:53Speaker 17: start to wean down a little bit from the portal.
- 19:57Speaker 17: H so you'll never be at a point where, uh,
- 20:00Speaker 17: you don't engage with the portal. And you know, this year,
- 20:04Speaker 17: we'll take a few less than we took last year,
- 20:06Speaker 17: and we took a few less last year and we
- 20:08Speaker 17: did the year before. But I think getting older, mature
- 20:11Speaker 17: guys that played a lot of football, if they got
- 20:15Speaker 17: the right stuff, which they're not. You know, I'm not
- 20:17Speaker 17: bringing them in if they don't. It's an asset.
- 20:23Speaker 8: Great knicks.
- 20:24Speaker 18: We'll go to Bill Bender.
- 20:25Speaker 22: Bill go ahead, Uh, coach, thanks for doing It's kind
- 20:32Speaker 22: of building off Brandon's question, what to you is that
- 20:36Speaker 22: perfect balance of guys in the transfer portal and then
- 20:41Speaker 22: guys that you have recruited, and and how you've been
- 20:43Speaker 22: able to develop all of that talent as you get
- 20:46Speaker 22: into the next couple of years with your program.
- 20:49Speaker 17: Yeah, I don't. I don't look at it that way.
- 20:51Speaker 17: I think in college football nowadays, you got to win
- 20:53Speaker 17: every year. Uh you know, with social media the way
- 20:56Speaker 17: it is, the pressure to be successful, you got to
- 21:00Speaker 17: put together a team that's ready to compete for championships
- 21:05Speaker 17: every single year. So now the more success you have,
- 21:10Speaker 17: the better You're going to recruit from the high school
- 21:13Speaker 17: ranks and those guys will develop and most of them
- 21:17Speaker 17: will red shirt, but some will play as a freshman.
- 21:20Speaker 17: You know, we're always going to bring in twenty give
- 21:24Speaker 17: or take one or two high school guys. I think
- 21:27Speaker 17: we brought in twenty three this year, and some of
- 21:31Speaker 17: those guys are ready to help us right away in
- 21:34Speaker 17: some capacity. But you know, the portal guys, you're bringing
- 21:40Speaker 17: them in because you have a critical need where you
- 21:43Speaker 17: have to fill a hole on your football team. So
- 21:47Speaker 17: you know, we've been successful doing it. College football's changed
- 21:51Speaker 17: a lot obviously still changing. You got to adapt, improvise,
- 21:55Speaker 17: be let on your feet, you know, if you're going
- 21:56Speaker 17: to survive. And that's where I think all that recruiting
- 22:00Speaker 17: coordinator experience I had in the past too, as well
- 22:02Speaker 17: as coaching, probably benefited me.
- 22:07Speaker 4: Great.
- 22:07Speaker 18: Now we'll go to the line of Andrea ails and
- 22:09Speaker 18: Andrea go ahead.
- 22:12Speaker 23: Hey, Kirk, thanks for doing this. Obviously we've all seen
- 22:16Speaker 23: the success you've had there since your arrival. But I'm
- 22:20Speaker 23: wondering what would you say to folks who think that
- 22:24Speaker 23: Indiana may still be a quote Cinderella story considering the
- 22:28Speaker 23: past history of the program.
- 22:31Speaker 17: Well, define Cinderella's story in the context of Indiana. I'm
- 22:35Speaker 17: not quite sure what you mean by that.
- 22:37Speaker 23: A team that has risen up despite the past that
- 22:42Speaker 23: shows there has not been a lot of winning tradition.
- 22:46Speaker 17: Well, I think that's a fact if you look at
- 22:49Speaker 17: the record since Indiana started playing football, and relative to
- 22:54Speaker 17: success we've had the last two years, we've broken a
- 22:58Speaker 17: lot of records here in in terms of wins, championships,
- 23:02Speaker 17: postseason games, top ten wins on the road, et cetera,
- 23:05Speaker 17: top ten wins period and so you know, it's been
- 23:11Speaker 17: kind of surreal Uh, but you know, you get it
- 23:14Speaker 17: done with the right people properly led, and you got
- 23:17Speaker 17: to have a blueprint, plan process. You got to the
- 23:21Speaker 17: right people on your staff and the right people in
- 23:23Speaker 17: the locker room. And we've been fortunate to have great
- 23:27Speaker 17: staff continuity, you know, with Bryant and Mike have been
- 23:30Speaker 17: with me eleven twelve years, and a lot of other
- 23:32Speaker 17: guys on staff five, six, seven years. And then down
- 23:36Speaker 17: you know, in the locker room, we got a lot
- 23:37Speaker 17: of older guys that have high character, great leadership traits.
- 23:42Speaker 17: They then buy into the team vision. They're very consistent
- 23:45Speaker 17: day in day out in terms of, you know, being
- 23:49Speaker 17: committed and disciplined and working hard toward improvement, staying focused
- 23:54Speaker 17: on the goal, keeping the eye on the bullseye, so
- 23:56Speaker 17: to speak, and you know, being able to sort of
- 24:01Speaker 17: enter every Saturday prepared with the right mindset and then
- 24:05Speaker 17: putting it on the field. So it's all about people.
- 24:09Speaker 17: And then you've got to have a blueprint in a
- 24:10Speaker 17: plan and I think you know, there's no question about it.
- 24:14Speaker 17: That's what's gotten us to this point.
- 24:18Speaker 5: Thank you.
- 24:19Speaker 18: Now go to the line of Zachary Osterman.
- 24:21Speaker 24: Zach, go ahead, Kert, I'm curious, and I suspect I know,
- 24:27Speaker 24: at least to some extent, the answer to this question.
- 24:28Speaker 24: But you've been, you know, kind of in championship game settings.
- 24:32Speaker 24: You know, your dad was in them, you were in
- 24:34Speaker 24: them as an assistant, you've been in them, you know,
- 24:35Speaker 24: kind of as a head coach. Like, do you change
- 24:37Speaker 24: anything approaching a game like this at all? Or do
- 24:41Speaker 24: you almost sort of reinforce the extent to which nothing
- 24:44Speaker 24: changes in a game like this from your experience.
- 24:47Speaker 17: Yeah, I mean, we've got to prepare for this game
- 24:49Speaker 17: no different than we prepared for a High State and Alabama.
- 24:54Speaker 2: You know.
- 24:55Speaker 17: The biggest mistake our guys can make, and that I'll
- 24:59Speaker 17: talk to them tonight team meeting about this is making
- 25:02Speaker 17: this game bigger than it is. And you know, going
- 25:06Speaker 17: down that road then that would be detrimental, you know,
- 25:11Speaker 17: to our preparation and our performance. This week is no
- 25:16Speaker 17: different than any other week. We have to be on point,
- 25:19Speaker 17: we have to stack meetings, practices and going totally prepared.
- 25:24Speaker 17: But then you got to put it on the field,
- 25:26Speaker 17: you know, against a great opponent.
- 25:31Speaker 18: Great, we'll go to the line of Jeff Rabjohn's Jeff,
- 25:33Speaker 18: go ahead, Hey, coach, thanks for your time.
- 25:39Speaker 25: I wanted to get your thoughts on your defense. Three
- 25:41Speaker 25: postseason wins, all three over top ten teams, only thirty
- 25:45Speaker 25: five points allowed, only twenty eight outside of garbage time,
- 25:48Speaker 25: twenty five TFLs, eleven for eleven sacks. What do you
- 25:52Speaker 25: think of the level of impact your defense is proving
- 25:55Speaker 25: they can play at in the postseason specifically.
- 25:59Speaker 17: Well, you know we're excellent against the High State Alabama
- 26:02Speaker 17: against the o'regon uh. You know, we created three turnovers
- 26:06Speaker 17: and blocked the punt which was four led to twenty
- 26:08Speaker 17: one points. And you know it starts with Brian Haynes.
- 26:12Speaker 17: He's the leader of the defense, and you know he
- 26:16Speaker 17: goes in with a good plan and puts our guys
- 26:18Speaker 17: in position to attack and make plays. But then the
- 26:22Speaker 17: credit goes to the guys on the field. You know,
- 26:26Speaker 17: leader of the defense is Aiden Fisher, but every unit
- 26:29Speaker 17: has its leaders, and it all starts up front with
- 26:32Speaker 17: you know, stopping a run and affecting the quarterback. And
- 26:36Speaker 17: you know, turnover ratio is huge, getting the takeaways and
- 26:39Speaker 17: then limiting the explosive plays and good and critical situations.
- 26:43Speaker 17: So and you know we're playing a little shorthanded, you know,
- 26:47Speaker 17: We've lost some guys that were valuable contributors, but you know,
- 26:52Speaker 17: it's been the next man up mentality, like Daniel naduke
- 26:56Speaker 17: Way who made a couple of big plays in that game,
- 26:58Speaker 17: blocked the punt. Also, you know that there hasn't we
- 27:03Speaker 17: haven't skipped the beat, so to speak. Now there were
- 27:06Speaker 17: a few more clean up plays coming out of the
- 27:08Speaker 17: Oregon game than the other games, partly because of the conflict.
- 27:12Speaker 17: Oregon can put you in offensively with tight ends that
- 27:16Speaker 17: run like receivers and spread you out and create some
- 27:19Speaker 17: throne lanes. But you know, you got to be great.
- 27:23Speaker 17: You've got to be really consistent all three phases to
- 27:25Speaker 17: be successful, and I think that's what this team has been.
- 27:30Speaker 17: We've been pretty consistent on offense, defense, and special teams,
- 27:34Speaker 17: and for the most part, you know, we've played at
- 27:38Speaker 17: a high level from play one to one fifty, regardless
- 27:41Speaker 17: of the competitive circumstances.
- 27:43Speaker 1: You know, this was like class one on one with
- 27:49Speaker 1: Kurt Signetti if you want to know how he builds
- 27:53Speaker 1: teams and what he does once he has them, And
- 27:59Speaker 1: that's that's pretty good fifteen minutes right there. You know, Hey,
- 28:05Speaker 1: if I'm an up and coming coach, or if I'm
- 28:09Speaker 1: a coach that's been a while around a while. I
- 28:12Speaker 1: want to know what this guy's doing. I want to
- 28:15Speaker 1: know how he is doing it. I want to know
- 28:17Speaker 1: his thought process right that he is going through. You know,
- 28:23Speaker 1: how many transfer guys? How many high school guys? Now
- 28:27Speaker 1: I've heard him a little bit before on the kind
- 28:29Speaker 1: of guys he's looking at. He said, the kind of
- 28:31Speaker 1: guys he looked at and went and got in the
- 28:34Speaker 1: transfer portal. He didn't get guys who had quote potential.
- 28:39Speaker 1: He got guys who already had stats. He didn't really
- 28:43Speaker 1: care what level of football they were playing. He took
- 28:46Speaker 1: guys you know below D one. It's like, no, this
- 28:50Speaker 1: guy had fifty four catches last year, so he can
- 28:54Speaker 1: catch the football. I already know that. I can see
- 28:57Speaker 1: the stats. You know, whatever this guy is doing right
- 29:05Speaker 1: now is working. Now, I get it. It's sports. He's
- 29:10Speaker 1: the flavor of the day. He loses Monday night, it's
- 29:14Speaker 1: all gone away. It's like, hey, we don't remember what
- 29:17Speaker 1: you did. We don't care what you did. You didn't
- 29:19Speaker 1: want to ring. Hey, great season with a you know,
- 29:23Speaker 1: a horrible historical program, but you know, let's move on.
- 29:29Speaker 1: In fact, Mario Christobal, he's going to take your place
- 29:32Speaker 1: speaking at the Coaches Clinics in February. That's just you know,
- 29:38Speaker 1: that's how it works. But I'm just telling you what
- 29:42Speaker 1: this guy has done. And to watch this team. If
- 29:46Speaker 1: you like the intricacies, if you want to see what
- 29:52Speaker 1: a really, really well coached sports team looks like, you
- 29:59Speaker 1: need to study this because I don't know everything that
- 30:04Speaker 1: this guy's doing, but he has punched every button, every button,
- 30:12Speaker 1: and I do think that it will culminate in him
- 30:16Speaker 1: getting a ring on Monday night. Hey Gallery has been
- 30:20Speaker 1: part of our community for well over thirty years. They
- 30:25Speaker 1: have a reputation here locally, and that's one of class,
- 30:30Speaker 1: one of consistency. One that when you know you walk
- 30:35Speaker 1: into one of their spas, you are going to get
- 30:39Speaker 1: treated well, and you're going to get treated well by
- 30:42Speaker 1: people who absolutely know what they they're doing and want
- 30:47Speaker 1: to make your experience as good as possible. You can't
- 30:50Speaker 1: beat that, whether it's a Rock Prairie location or the
- 30:54Speaker 1: Century Square location. And with a new Year, think about
- 30:58Speaker 1: membership because with member comes privileges. You get to decide

- 31:09Speaker 1: Patty facials, massages, whatever, they're gonna take care of you.
- 31:15Speaker 1: This is what they do every single day. Guys.
- 31:20Speaker 6: Gift certificates.

- 31:24Speaker 1: you have a date coming up, or just a just
- 31:28Speaker 1: because coming up, go get a gift certificate from Galleria,
- 31:35Speaker 1: guaranteed not to be turned back in. You're gonna exchange
- 31:40Speaker 1: it for a different service if you want to do

- 32:02Speaker 26: Do you know every time we do one of the
- 32:05Speaker 26: CNJ barbecue commercials, they tell us to come up with
- 32:08Speaker 26: something clever, but honestly, I never know what to say.
- 32:11Speaker 6: How about we're CNJ Barbecue. We make barbecue. It's good.
- 32:15Speaker 6: People like it. That's why we've been here smoking meats
- 32:18Speaker 6: in Phill and Belly since the eighties.
- 32:20Speaker 26: Well, I guess that sums it up.
- 32:21Speaker 6: So if you're hungry, come see us. If you need
- 32:24Speaker 6: more convincing, well maybe you just don't like happiness.
- 32:27Speaker 26: Either way, we'll be here smoking meat like we always do,
- 32:30Speaker 26: serving up happiness on a tray.
- 32:31Speaker 6: CNJ Barbecue, Let's eat.

- 33:23Speaker 8: Welcome into the high school report.
- 33:25Speaker 7: I'm calb Brapley and today we're jumping out to the
- 33:27Speaker 7: Polaris Fun Center phone line to visit with the head
- 33:30Speaker 7: coach of the A and M Consolidated girls basketball team,
- 33:34Speaker 7: Miss Wendy Hines, Coach, how are you.
- 33:35Speaker 5: Doing today, I'm doing all great. How are you doing.
- 33:38Speaker 8: I'm doing good. Thank you for joining me. Let's go
- 33:41Speaker 8: ahead and start by looking at the loss to College Station,
- 33:46Speaker 8: just coming off of that on Tuesday.
- 33:47Speaker 7: I know that's always a hard fought game between the
- 33:50Speaker 7: two rivals, and especially after beating them in the tournament.
- 33:55Speaker 8: Earlier last week. So what were some of your takeaways
- 33:58Speaker 8: from that loss.
- 34:00Speaker 5: Well, you know, basically, when the ball didn't go in,
- 34:02Speaker 5: you know, it's it's hard to win.
- 34:04Speaker 20: Uh, we did not shoot the ball. Well, Uh, they
- 34:07Speaker 20: had they they played a great game. Not take anything
- 34:10Speaker 20: away from them. They did have a good game plan
- 34:13Speaker 20: and and like I said, with our balls were not following.
- 34:15Speaker 20: We were not good from the free throw line. It's
- 34:18Speaker 20: only lose by four, and like I said, shot pretty
- 34:22Speaker 20: pretty bad.
- 34:25Speaker 5: You know, we could we could build on that, That's
- 34:26Speaker 5: that's for sure.
- 34:27Speaker 20: But yeah, anytime you lose, especially to your rival, you know,
- 34:31Speaker 20: it's not a fun thing.
- 34:31Speaker 5: So maybe we should have talked yesterday instead of today.
- 34:34Speaker 20: But yeah, but other than that, Yeah, like I said,
- 34:38Speaker 20: just just got to get back.
- 34:40Speaker 5: On the horse and and and get better as we go.
- 34:45Speaker 7: Now zooming out a little bit, looking at the bigger
- 34:48Speaker 7: picture of the season so far, sitting at twelve and
- 34:50Speaker 7: eight on the year.
- 34:53Speaker 8: So what are your thoughts from the first twenty games
- 34:55Speaker 8: of the season.
- 34:57Speaker 20: Well, like I said, we're like I said, we're young.
- 34:59Speaker 20: Just try to get all that chemistry together and so forth.
- 35:02Speaker 20: We play some really tough teams and some tournaments and
- 35:06Speaker 20: and I do that on purpose to help us with
- 35:08Speaker 20: this district because it's it's just a battle every night.
- 35:11Speaker 5: You never know on any given.
- 35:12Speaker 20: Night who's gonna be there, who's gonna show up, who
- 35:16Speaker 20: not get beat.
- 35:17Speaker 5: It's like I said, it's a tough district.
- 35:19Speaker 20: So I I mean, I'm happy where we as far
- 35:23Speaker 20: as up till last night, where we've been. It's a
- 35:27Speaker 20: tough four games for us in a row, starting with
- 35:30Speaker 20: last night. So yeah, we got a battle, but I'm
- 35:34Speaker 20: not I'm not.
- 35:36Speaker 5: We're not in a bad place is as far as
- 35:38Speaker 5: that goes. We just gotta settle down and put our
- 35:42Speaker 5: shots in and and build on that. But other than that,
- 35:46Speaker 5: I think we're okay.
- 35:47Speaker 20: Like I said, we're we're We don't have flashy players
- 35:51Speaker 20: or anything like that I would say, but we just
- 35:54Speaker 20: we work.
- 35:54Speaker 5: And last night there was a time where you know,
- 35:58Speaker 5: our defense.
- 35:59Speaker 20: Was it where we're needed to be and and you
- 36:01Speaker 20: know we hang her hat on that, so you know,
- 36:02Speaker 20: you can't have those moments and especially not a quarter's worth.
- 36:06Speaker 5: So but overall, overall we're gonna be okay.
- 36:11Speaker 8: And you mentioned pretty young team this year lost I
- 36:14Speaker 8: think five seniors from last season squad. So who are
- 36:17Speaker 8: some of the young ladies that have stepped up to
- 36:19Speaker 8: fill those vacancies.
- 36:22Speaker 5: Yeah, you've got you know, Kisey Couch, she's a freshman.
- 36:26Speaker 20: You got Cameron she's a sophomore. Kyla Watson, she's a junior,
- 36:30Speaker 20: but she played JV last year. Uh, you know, we
- 36:33Speaker 20: lost her point guard and so that's always a tough position,
- 36:37Speaker 20: you know, to to uh to build back up. Chloe
- 36:41Speaker 20: Lockett's been trying to fill that role. She's not a
- 36:44Speaker 20: natural you know, point guard, but she's been trying to
- 36:47Speaker 20: do what she can do with that. And so those
- 36:51Speaker 20: are my young ones. I got a couple of juniors
- 36:53Speaker 20: that that played a little bit of both last year
- 36:56Speaker 20: j V and varsity that come off a bitch and
- 36:58Speaker 20: give us a spark. So I do have a couple
- 37:02Speaker 20: of seniors. I five seniors again this year. Uh Rachel
- 37:08Speaker 20: Moran is is Uh. She she was really solid last night.
- 37:11Speaker 20: She had twenty three and I said, she's just an
- 37:14Speaker 20: undersized post. But those are my young ones that are
- 37:17Speaker 20: that are trying to, you know, get it done and
- 37:19Speaker 20: figure it out.
- 37:23Speaker 8: And you mentioned in the midst of a tough, you know,
- 37:26Speaker 8: four game stretch with district played Friday night taking on
- 37:29Speaker 8: Brenham at home, what you expect to see from the Cubs.
- 37:34Speaker 5: They're better this year. They they've got a new little
- 37:37Speaker 5: point guard. She's a freshman as well.
- 37:40Speaker 20: And I say they you know, Huntsville beat them, I
- 37:42Speaker 20: think by six last night, so as Huntsville.
- 37:45Speaker 5: So I said, any given night, it's it's.
- 37:50Speaker 20: Exciting, there's no doubt, I guess as a fan, not
- 37:54Speaker 20: as a coach, but uh, you just never know what
- 37:57Speaker 20: you're gonna get.
- 37:57Speaker 5: It's like a box of chocolates, but it really is.
- 38:02Speaker 20: But yeah, they're gonna be scrappy, they're gonna be tough
- 38:05Speaker 20: and so forth.
- 38:06Speaker 5: So like I say, they've definitely gotten better.
- 38:10Speaker 7: And including that game, there's seven regular season games left
- 38:15Speaker 7: on the schedule before hopefully getting the playoffs. So what
- 38:19Speaker 7: are your goals and expectations for your squad in these
- 38:23Speaker 7: this final home stretch of the season.
- 38:25Speaker 20: We just got to take one game at a time,
- 38:27Speaker 20: you know, just handle business, you know, one game.
- 38:29Speaker 5: At a time. We know every night's tough, so wherever
- 38:32Speaker 5: you play at home or or away, and so.
- 38:35Speaker 20: We just got to make sure that we're taking care
- 38:37Speaker 20: of our business, not letting things sneak up on us,
- 38:41Speaker 20: teams sneak up on us, unless it's just not getting
- 38:43Speaker 20: it done. We can't have games like we did last night,
- 38:46Speaker 20: where we missed you know, I don't know, seven, I
- 38:49Speaker 20: don't know, we miss a lot of free throws and so,
- 38:55Speaker 20: you know, and lose by four, so that that that
- 38:56Speaker 20: leaves a bad taste in your mouth. So we can't
- 38:59Speaker 20: we just can't do that. We're not a team that's
- 39:01Speaker 20: going to need to leave any points on the floor.
- 39:04Speaker 20: And so just one game at a time and taking
- 39:07Speaker 20: care of business one quarter at a time.
- 39:10Speaker 8: All right, Well, coach, I appreciate your time today and
- 39:13Speaker 8: we wish you up throughout the rest of the seasons.
- 39:16Speaker 5: Thank you so much.

- 46:12Speaker 1: what a month? February thirteenth. The Marauders from Tennessee Tech.
- 46:19Speaker 1: I don't know what their names are. I just made
- 46:21Speaker 1: up that marauder. If they were, if they should be marauders,
- 46:25Speaker 1: if they're not, Ah my high school is the Golden Eagles.
- 46:31Speaker 1: I got to go out there. Where are the colors?
- 46:36Speaker 6: How about that?
- 46:38Speaker 1: I mean, what are the odds that's a cruddy looking
- 46:41Speaker 1: logo though ours was so much better than that. And
- 46:45Speaker 1: look at them.
- 46:46Speaker 3: What color are they?
- 46:48Speaker 1: Purple and gold? Do you think that they stole that
- 46:53Speaker 1: from Richardson High School? I think they did. I mean,
- 46:59Speaker 1: there's no way Chardson High School stole the Golden Eagles
- 47:03Speaker 1: and purple and gold from Tennessee Tech.
- 47:05Speaker 31: No way.
- 47:06Speaker 1: I'm just telling you, no way. How long's Tennessee Tech

- 47:36Speaker 20: It's close.
- 47:38Speaker 6: I'm going to look into this further.
- 47:41Speaker 1: I'm telling you the Golden Eagles purple and gold.
- 47:44Speaker 7: Two, sorry two is their first Bowl.
- 47:47Speaker 1: Game nineteen fifty two. Oh, nineteen twenty two. They were
- 47:51Speaker 1: for the first They may have us by a little bit. Okay,
- 47:57Speaker 1: enough of that, Gavin Grohovac man. He started, You're a

- 48:05Speaker 1: the media yesterday start of practice.
- 48:09Speaker 9: Kevin, just, how are you feeling feeling good? Happy to
- 48:12Speaker 9: be back? I think that's I can says so. All
- 48:15Speaker 9: we run the around the locker room, so we're all
- 48:16Speaker 9: happy be back, ready to get going. But on personal side,
- 48:19Speaker 9: I'm feeling really good.
- 48:20Speaker 14: Is this the healthiest you felt since maybe first got here?
- 48:23Speaker 9: I would say so, yeah, I mean I'm feeling good.
- 48:25Speaker 9: Body's feeling good. Done a lot of work to get
- 48:27Speaker 9: to this point. So thankful for everyone who's who's helped
- 48:29Speaker 9: me get to where I'm at right now.
- 48:31Speaker 4: Mike said, he Troy Is might be gonna get a
- 48:34Speaker 4: little bit more of an elevated role here. What has
- 48:38Speaker 4: he been like as a coach so far and what
- 48:40Speaker 4: does he bring to the program.
- 48:41Speaker 9: Yeah, Troy's great. He's a players coach. He's fresh out
- 48:45Speaker 9: of playing obviously, and just the way he's able to
- 48:48Speaker 9: relate to all of us and kind of, you know,
- 48:50Speaker 9: give us, give us those little those little inside point
- 48:52Speaker 9: of views. It's it's been phenomenal. I love Troy, but yeah,
- 48:56Speaker 9: he's been great.
- 48:58Speaker 4: The coach said it wasn't a stream inclined to get
- 49:01Speaker 4: back when you had to deal.
- 49:02Speaker 14: With some valleys in there.
- 49:03Speaker 33: What did that you know, did was that good for you?
- 49:07Speaker 14: Or how is a challenge?
- 49:09Speaker 1: And now being at the point where you're at where
- 49:10Speaker 1: everything is back together.
- 49:12Speaker 9: Yeah, obviously the past year has been tough. Ups and
- 49:14Speaker 9: downs injuried never is easy for any athlete, But yeah,
- 49:19Speaker 9: I mean every athlete needs adversity, and that's the biggest
- 49:21Speaker 9: one I've faced obviously in my career so far. But yeah, again,
- 49:25Speaker 9: I've had a bunch of people on my side in
- 49:28Speaker 9: my corner helping me out through the whole thing, and
- 49:30Speaker 9: I'm just blessed to be where I am right now.
- 49:32Speaker 4: Couch spoke about how you did a bunch of work
- 49:34Speaker 4: behind the scenes with your dad in order to get
- 49:36Speaker 4: back to where you are now.
- 49:37Speaker 9: So what did that look like and what is that
- 49:38Speaker 9: relationship gone off the field?
- 49:41Speaker 3: Though?
- 49:41Speaker 9: Yeah, when I'm back home, it's it's always been me
- 49:45Speaker 9: and my dad when it comes to like baseball side
- 49:46Speaker 9: of things. Just having a coach in the household at
- 49:49Speaker 9: all times is it can be good and can be
- 49:51Speaker 9: difficult at times. We've obviously h we've matured together in
- 49:54Speaker 9: the household though that's on the field or off the field,
- 49:58Speaker 9: but no, our relationships phenomenal with my dad. It's always
- 50:00Speaker 9: been there for me, always been the guy that I
- 50:02Speaker 9: have gone to for questions, information I've ever needed. So yeah,
- 50:06Speaker 9: I'm very I'm very thankful and very blessed to have
- 50:08Speaker 9: that every single day to my use.
- 50:10Speaker 14: So what does the work look like with him?
- 50:14Speaker 9: And it's pretty similar as it always is, just being consistent.
- 50:17Speaker 9: He's always on me about being consistent, always be in
- 50:19Speaker 9: the right head space. He's really big on the mental
- 50:21Speaker 9: side of the game. So when when I'm home, it's
- 50:23Speaker 9: really focusing on how can I be the best version
- 50:25Speaker 9: of myself every time I step in that box, every
- 50:27Speaker 9: time I step in between those lines. That's his biggest
- 50:30Speaker 9: thing and always has been, just go out there and
- 50:32Speaker 9: play hard.
- 50:32Speaker 14: Out When was the first time you felt.
- 50:36Speaker 25: Yourself?
- 50:36Speaker 9: Oh man, it's been a couple months now. I think
- 50:38Speaker 9: when I first got back out here and was full
- 50:40Speaker 9: practice is kind of when I started feeling my best. Obviously,
- 50:43Speaker 9: towards the end of the fall, I kind of started
- 50:44Speaker 9: feeling mid season for him, almost, which was a very
- 50:47Speaker 9: nice feeling. Haven't felt that in a while. So, yeah,
- 50:51Speaker 9: it's been a good couple of months, good, good gradual
- 50:53Speaker 9: build up and obviously now seasons here, so just focused
- 50:56Speaker 9: on getting on that field and playing hard every day.
- 50:58Speaker 35: See you maybe had a chance to look back at
- 51:00Speaker 35: the fall and totality, just what was your biggest takeaway
- 51:04Speaker 35: from the team as y'all grew and just progressed and
- 51:07Speaker 35: kind of the way you thought of that time.
- 51:09Speaker 9: Yeah, I think we're a young team. We had a
- 51:12Speaker 9: lot of young guys, a lot of good talent. I
- 51:14Speaker 9: think it's been a lot of maturity, especially from you know,
- 51:17Speaker 9: just how we've showed up every single day, the work
- 51:19Speaker 9: we put in the mindset everyone has. We know we're
- 51:22Speaker 9: gonna work hard when we step on that field. Coach
- 51:23Speaker 9: Early has made that a standard, and also older guys
- 51:26Speaker 9: have made it a point to hold that standard. And
- 51:28Speaker 9: I think everyone's done a great job of doing their
- 51:31Speaker 9: role and holding their holding their end of that.
- 51:33Speaker 35: What do you think of healthy Gavin Groovac brings to
- 51:36Speaker 35: the table both at the.
- 51:37Speaker 9: Play and in the field. I guess we'll find out. Uh,
- 51:41Speaker 9: I don't know, man, I'm excited to be back out there.
- 51:43Speaker 9: I think that's the only thing that's the only way
- 51:45Speaker 9: I can answer that. There's no specific way of answering
- 51:48Speaker 9: that because you never know. But no, I'm excited. I
- 51:52Speaker 9: think a healthy version will be an excited, exciting version.
- 51:55Speaker 19: So early said, you took some live at bats with
- 51:59Speaker 19: Shan Sedale he's coming back from injury to just kind
- 52:02Speaker 19: of what were those sessions, like, you know what is Shane?
- 52:05Speaker 9: Yeah, Shane. Shane's a competitor, man. We've always during live abs,
- 52:08Speaker 9: we've always competed pretty well, We've always laughed. Is we
- 52:11Speaker 9: always had the longest hat bats against each other. But again,
- 52:14Speaker 9: that just goes to two guys competing in one on
- 52:15Speaker 9: one in the box and on the mound. But I'm
- 52:17Speaker 9: excited to see Shane back out there on the mound.
- 52:20Speaker 9: Decided to play defense behind him and then watch him
- 52:22Speaker 9: get those hitters out. How good to see just the
- 52:26Speaker 9: health of this team.
- 52:27Speaker 34: Uh, you know you're coming back today, coming back and
- 52:30Speaker 34: and how frustrating was having.
- 52:32Speaker 8: So many injuries last year.
- 52:33Speaker 9: Uh, it's I mean, obviously it's frustrating, but there's only
- 52:36Speaker 9: so much you can do about it. In the moment.
- 52:38Speaker 9: The best thing you can do is be the best teammate,
- 52:40Speaker 9: be the best guy in the dugout, be there for
- 52:42Speaker 9: your guys, be there for the coaches whenever they need
- 52:44Speaker 9: you to be that middleman. But yeah, I'm excited for
- 52:47Speaker 9: for what we have going this year. I'm super excited
- 52:49Speaker 9: about the guys, super excited about how they're showing up
- 52:52Speaker 9: every single day with the same mindset. We all have
- 52:55Speaker 9: one goal and we all want to win a championship
- 52:57Speaker 9: here and you know, hopefully we got there and show that.
- 53:01Speaker 4: You know, Stewart talked about using the fall as a
- 53:03Speaker 4: way to put last year behind and kind of using
- 53:05Speaker 4: a clean slate as a leader here.
- 53:06Speaker 14: You have the similar mentality. What's the chip you carry
- 53:09Speaker 14: on your shoulder if at all from last season?
- 53:11Speaker 20: Yeah?
- 53:11Speaker 9: Man, I mean last year was last year. It is
- 53:13Speaker 9: what it is every years and New year for any team,
- 53:15Speaker 9: whether you did good or whether you did bad. So
- 53:18Speaker 9: of course we have a chip on our shoulder. But
- 53:21Speaker 9: that's how you should play every single game. You never
- 53:22Speaker 9: know that last one is going to be. So that's
- 53:25Speaker 9: how I view it. You take you you go out
- 53:26Speaker 9: there and you take advantage of every second you have
- 53:28Speaker 9: out there, and you know, you'd be grateful for every
- 53:31Speaker 9: time you to step on the in between those lines.
- 53:33Speaker 9: That's just my perspective on it. I think everyone has
- 53:35Speaker 9: that same perspective now, just kind of watching how everyone's performing.
- 53:39Speaker 14: Like I said, he's kind of back more in the
- 53:40Speaker 14: cage as fallout.
- 53:41Speaker 4: What have you seen his approach to coaching, especially with
- 53:45Speaker 4: the hitters, Maybe change your two not much.
- 53:48Speaker 9: I mean, coach Early has been one of the best
- 53:50Speaker 9: hitting coaches in college baseball for quite some years now,
- 53:53Speaker 9: so he really brings a lot to the table. He
- 53:56Speaker 9: keeps it super simple for us. He never presses too
- 54:00Speaker 9: art on guys to make big, big changes, big adjustments,
- 54:02Speaker 9: whatever it is. And you know he he wants to
- 54:05Speaker 9: be there for you as much as he wants to
- 54:06Speaker 9: be for anyone else. So obviously there's a difference between
- 54:08Speaker 9: hitting coach and head coach, but we know when those
- 54:11Speaker 9: times are different.
- 54:12Speaker 14: Does it feel like he's in the cage maybe a
- 54:14Speaker 14: little bit more this this year?
- 54:15Speaker 20: Oh?
- 54:15Speaker 9: Absolutely, absolutely.
- 54:16Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 54:16Speaker 9: He's been around you know, a lot more, especially just
- 54:19Speaker 9: on like the mechanical side of things, just paying a
- 54:21Speaker 9: lot of attention. I mean not saying he didn't, but
- 54:23Speaker 9: you know what I mean, Like just he he's back
- 54:26Speaker 9: in his old his old group. I would say, how
- 54:28Speaker 9: would you maybe.
- 54:29Speaker 35: Just describe what you're seeing from the batting order in
- 54:33Speaker 35: totality is you'd kind of take a note of what
- 54:35Speaker 35: guys are kind of bringing to the play.
- 54:37Speaker 9: Yeah, we got a good lineup one through nine, no
- 54:40Speaker 9: matter who's in it. We got a lot of depth,
- 54:43Speaker 9: which is super exciting. I know on the infield side
- 54:45Speaker 9: of things, we have a lot of guys who can
- 54:47Speaker 9: get their foot in the door. And you know, that's
- 54:49Speaker 9: what this time is, during this spring period, just you
- 54:52Speaker 9: fight for a position and we all know that we're
- 54:54Speaker 9: all competing against one another, but at the same time,
- 54:55Speaker 9: we're a team. So you push guys to be the
- 54:57Speaker 9: best version of themselves and that's how you form you
- 55:00Speaker 9: this lineup.
- 55:01Speaker 1: Davin Grokhovic, get you ready for baseball season. It's a
- 55:06Speaker 1: Friday night, but it's on calendar one month from today,

- 55:15Speaker 1: by the way, history lesson. The Golden Eagles of Richardson
