Transcript
- 0:02When I say things on this show,
- 0:03I never, ever know who's listening.
- 0:06Every once in a while,
- 0:07I get a clue.
- 0:09Let's talk about it.
- 0:23I love the chase and the hunt and
- 0:24I set the pace when I'm running.
- 0:26I always take what I want and I
- 0:27always give it one hundred.
- 0:29Don't need a bank, no I'm funded.
- 0:30Play the game like it's nothing.
- 0:32I'm always thankful for something.
- 0:33Don't take for granted, stay humble.
- 0:35Now wake up!
- 0:36It's time to look at the enemy.
- 0:38Look in the mirror if he is no
- 0:40friend to me.
- 0:42What is going on everybody?
- 0:44It is lunchtime.
- 0:46Lunch with the Clydesdale.
- 0:47Here we go.
- 0:48Going to get things kicked off today.
- 0:51It is a victory Monday.
- 0:53As you can see,
- 0:53I am garbed out in full Bears gear.
- 0:58Four wins in a row.
- 0:59Haven't seen that since two thousand
- 1:01eighteen.
- 1:02I have no idea what this is supposed
- 1:05to feel like.
- 1:07So I'm just like chilling, relaxing,
- 1:11enjoying and just can't wait till next
- 1:14week.
- 1:15See if we can put five together.
- 1:19So we got Corey in the house.
- 1:21We got Trent Olive in the house.
- 1:24Megan got swept up in the Amazon server
- 1:28debacle this morning and her workout app
- 1:31is down.
- 1:33Anyone want to share their workout?
- 1:36Trent Olive came up with three, six, nine,
- 1:39twelve, fifteen, eighteen,
- 1:40twenty one box jump overs,
- 1:43three wall walks after each set.
- 1:48That is rough.
- 1:50Rough.
- 1:57Corey Leonard,
- 1:58I learned y'all should listen to me when
- 2:00I tell you Sammy Pugh is going to
- 2:01be top five.
- 2:05I think you said more than top five,
- 2:07but okay.
- 2:11Way to kind of like refine that in,
- 2:14in your story there, Corey.
- 2:18But I'm sure we'll talk about that later
- 2:20this week.
- 2:24We've got Arlene.
- 2:25We've got Ken at the lab.
- 2:26We've got Jody, Megan.
- 2:29We've got Lito.
- 2:31What's going on, Lito?
- 2:35We've got Jake in the house.
- 2:38Wow, cool.
- 2:40So what I'm going to kick off with
- 2:43first is my cold open was that you
- 2:46say things you never know.
- 2:48You never know who's listening.
- 2:50If you were with me at the beginning
- 2:52of last week,
- 2:54there was a clickbait advertisement for
- 2:57the Rich Froning podcast.
- 3:00I watched all ninety minutes of that and
- 3:02I made the statement that it was a
- 3:04waste of time.
- 3:06And what I meant by that is it
- 3:07didn't match the clickbait.
- 3:10Still interesting conversation.
- 3:12Still good guys hanging out.
- 3:14But nothing met what was promised in the
- 3:17clickbait.
- 3:18And so I said it was not worth
- 3:21watching.
- 3:22Andrew Hiller clicked that,
- 3:24or Dense Updates clicked that.
- 3:25Somebody did.
- 3:27And Rich released another podcast this
- 3:30morning.
- 3:30I don't know if you guys saw that.
- 3:32And what is the title?
- 3:37A waste of your time.
- 3:40A waste of your time.
- 3:43So apparently,
- 3:45Rich heard what I had to say,
- 3:47either through the clip or through the
- 3:49show, or maybe Scott Vandersloot heard it.
- 3:52But I think that was a shot fired
- 3:54back at me.
- 3:58So what I'll say today is...
- 4:05What I'll say today is it was a
- 4:07fun listen.
- 4:09If you're looking for any kind of news,
- 4:11this is not the podcast for you.
- 4:13It's more about Darren, Austin,
- 4:19and Rich talking about the good old days,
- 4:22how they promoted the sport back in the
- 4:24day.
- 4:25Is there a way to go back to
- 4:27any of those things?
- 4:29So not a complete waste of your time
- 4:30this week.
- 4:32But if you're looking for news,
- 4:33this isn't the one for you.
- 4:34This is just a fun, entertaining podcast,
- 4:38and go check it out.
- 4:39But when I saw that I actually took
- 4:41a big gulp, like, oh, shit,
- 4:43what did I...
- 4:45Did I upset Rich and crew?
- 4:49But interesting to see that they took my
- 4:51statement and...
- 4:54entitled it what i said last week so
- 4:59um very very interesting uh today's show
- 5:05is not going to be super long um
- 5:06i have an appointment that i have to
- 5:08get to uh so uh joseph yeah what's
- 5:14up scott penn state's in a downward spiral
- 5:17um
- 5:19Yeah, I can't even talk about it.
- 5:22It's a free fall at this point.
- 5:26I'm just I'm just done with college
- 5:28football, at least for this season.
- 5:30We'll see who the new hire is.
- 5:31We'll see what goes on there.
- 5:33But I am just I'm just I can't
- 5:37anymore.
- 5:39Yeah.
- 5:40It was a fun listen.
- 5:41The, the, the rich running podcast,
- 5:43super fun listen.
- 5:45And actually the title waste of your time.
- 5:47They don't even,
- 5:47they don't even address it.
- 5:50Um,
- 5:50they don't even address the title in the
- 5:52show.
- 5:53Um,
- 5:57Corey,
- 5:57I don't think you can compare what LSU's
- 6:00downward spiral is to Penn State.
- 6:02We are losing to teams that don't even
- 6:05win games.
- 6:07It's just Billy Napier's available.
- 6:12Yeah,
- 6:12there's a lot of firings happening this
- 6:14year and way early in the season.
- 6:18This new NIL college football thing is
- 6:20getting out of hand.
- 6:23Totally, totally out of hand.
- 6:31I think for one reason or another,
- 6:33people assume what CrossFit media is
- 6:35always circling around breaking news.
- 6:37I've enjoyed listening to shows without
- 6:38breaking news recently.
- 6:40The HQ shows are awesome.
- 6:42So what I'm saying, Jake,
- 6:44is not that I expected Rich to break
- 6:46news.
- 6:48Only for the fact that they did a
- 6:50clickbait reel where they talked about the
- 6:54affiliation,
- 6:55where they talked about what happened at
- 6:58Coaches Congress.
- 7:00in the real but when you get into
- 7:02the video they did not every time they
- 7:05broached one of those subjects someone
- 7:08interrupted them and they went off on
- 7:10another direction and i believe it was
- 7:13planned i believe it was strategic and so
- 7:16that's what i was saying it was a
- 7:17waste of time i like shows for
- 7:21entertainment as well so um yeah
- 7:31Eric Mackey, NIL is awful,
- 7:33will have even worse effects three to five
- 7:35years down the road.
- 7:37Here's what I think it's causing is people
- 7:40are leaving for the money.
- 7:43People aren't showing the...
- 7:47People aren't showing the grit and
- 7:51determination to fight for a job anymore.
- 7:54And they're getting paid millions of
- 7:56dollars to leave one school and go to
- 7:58another.
- 7:58And I believe priorities are out of whack.
- 8:01And that is not creating the best human
- 8:03beings.
- 8:03And it's not creating the best athletes
- 8:05for the NFL.
- 8:07And so it...
- 8:10It's giving other factors that are going
- 8:11to be determining whether someone gets
- 8:13drafted or not,
- 8:14whether the way they look at things,
- 8:18it's going to be crazy.
- 8:23Yeah, Jake,
- 8:23they learn clickbait gets numbers.
- 8:31Is it the NIL or the portal?
- 8:33Yes.
- 8:34Phil to pooper.
- 8:34It is.
- 8:35It is that.
- 8:43During the Mayhem podcast,
- 8:44I was super curious why the Buttery Bro
- 8:46was there and they never addressed it,
- 8:49but it felt significant.
- 8:50Maybe not.
- 8:53I don't know.
- 8:54There's been a lot of criticism with the
- 8:56Media Hill that the Buttery Bros have not
- 8:59done anything CrossFit for a year.
- 9:03So I'm wondering if they're trying to get
- 9:05their way back in.
- 9:07I also know Mayhem's hiring a media
- 9:09director.
- 9:10So...
- 9:14I don't know.
- 9:17I don't want to make up a smear
- 9:19campaign or make up news,
- 9:21so I'll just leave it at that.
- 9:23But it was interesting that the Buttery
- 9:25Bros were there.
- 9:27But I know that they're tight.
- 9:28Like, Heber did Froning Four,
- 9:30the big documentary.
- 9:32That was Heber's baby.
- 9:34So they are tight.
- 9:35I know that they are close.
- 9:37And it makes sense that they're there.
- 9:41I guess I didn't really think a lot
- 9:43about it.
- 9:45So...
- 9:51Yeah, I think you're right.
- 9:52Aaron Frazier,
- 9:53the simplification of the game,
- 9:54because you don't have players for four
- 9:56years is really happening.
- 10:03So
- 10:08get it most people don't enjoy the boring
- 10:10stuff the gym stuff and that's cool for
- 10:11us guys there are outlets i i agree
- 10:14jake you're you're awesome at the gym
- 10:16stuff and getting into those things and
- 10:18that's why i watch you guys um problem
- 10:22is you're on so early in the morning
- 10:23for me i have to watch it after
- 10:25the fact i wish i could catch more
- 10:26of them live
- 10:31All right, so let's hit the next thing.
- 10:35CrossFit released their new marketing
- 10:37campaign.
- 10:37We talked about it on last night's show.
- 10:40And my worry was that were they going
- 10:44to focus too much on elite athletes or
- 10:47were they going to focus more on the
- 10:49everyday gym athletes?
- 10:51goer and,
- 10:52and the coaching and all of that.
- 10:54And I was pleasantly surprised that I
- 10:58think they used forging elite fitness in a
- 11:00way that makes sense and, um,
- 11:05and speaks to people out there.
- 11:07Now we talked last night that there are
- 11:09people that want the easy, easy way out.
- 11:12They don't want to put in the hard
- 11:13work and there is no way that you,
- 11:17um,
- 11:19can get results without putting in the
- 11:21work.
- 11:22And I love the way that they have
- 11:24done this to kind of push that button.
- 11:29So I'm going to go ahead and play
- 11:30it for you guys.
- 11:31If you have not seen it,
- 11:32here is the new marketing campaign just
- 11:35hot off the presses at like noon today,
- 11:37Eastern time.
- 11:39It was just released.
- 11:40So here we go.
- 11:50It all starts with a choice.
- 11:54You don't feel strong.
- 11:57You don't feel ready.
- 11:59Good.
- 12:01You showed up.
- 12:03That's the only starting point.
- 12:06This isn't about perfection.
- 12:09It's about the fight.
- 12:12Failure?
- 12:13It's not a detour.
- 12:17It's the road that progress demands.
- 12:20We don't ask, are you able?
- 12:24We ask, are you willing?
- 12:30Willing to walk through the door,
- 12:33to turn fears into fuel,
- 12:36to keep showing up again and again.
- 12:41The true test has never been ability.
- 12:45It's willingness.
- 13:01So there you have it.
- 13:02CrossFit's newest marketing campaign,
- 13:05Forging Elite Fitness.
- 13:07Again,
- 13:09my hope was that they weren't going to
- 13:12lean into the elite athlete because some
- 13:14of the pictures that were coming out
- 13:16before this yesterday showed some of the
- 13:18elite athletes.
- 13:20And I love that this was at the
- 13:21root of the community in the gyms.
- 13:24And it's about,
- 13:25are you willing to show up?
- 13:27Are you willing to show up?
- 13:30and show up day in and day out.
- 13:33And it is awesome.
- 13:35Love it.
- 13:40We've got so good.
- 13:42This is so good.
- 13:45Jake, I don't know whose voice it is.
- 13:47It's nobody that I recognize.
- 13:50i've been doing crossfit for almost eight
- 13:52years and this even fires me up um
- 13:55jake says good uh autistic killer forging
- 13:59elite fitness ad was awesome they nailed
- 14:01it the sound of the anvil at the
- 14:03end lined up with the fist bumps it
- 14:05was so sick and the sound of the
- 14:07forge yep uh lito says the hammering
- 14:12sounds like at the end like a chef's
- 14:14kiss uh really cool goosebumps
- 14:23Uh,
- 14:23Jess says I've been doing CrossFit since
- 14:25two thousand twelve and this is so fire.
- 14:30I just want to get out of bed
- 14:31in the morning and take care of my
- 14:32kids.
- 14:33CrossFit is the best way I have found
- 14:35to do it.
- 14:36Decent commercial.
- 14:40Trish, not a dry seat in the house.
- 14:45Jake,
- 14:45I've been doing CrossFit since nineteen
- 14:47seventy six and this fires me up.
- 14:49Well, OK.
- 14:53Might be a little over the top there.
- 15:03Wearing my Forging Elite Fitness hoodie
- 15:05today, ironically.
- 15:07This is outstanding.
- 15:12Trish wants the booty shorts back.
- 15:18Train Olive, big fan, fired up.
- 15:26and i've been waiting for this says ortega
- 15:29i heard they were doing this ad and
- 15:31i was so pumped yeah it's really really
- 15:33good um so super pumped that they did
- 15:37not lean into the elite athlete super
- 15:39pumped that it's about the community and
- 15:41the people in the community um i really
- 15:44think they did a nice job with it
- 15:46i'm so pumped
- 15:49Trish,
- 15:50really do want some Forging Elite Fitness
- 15:51merch back.
- 15:52It was at the games.
- 15:53They've brought it back.
- 15:54I believe it's out on their website still.
- 15:57They brought back Forging Elite Fitness.
- 16:00They brought back Routine is the Enemy.
- 16:02And they brought back Pukie the Clown all
- 16:05in merch at the games this year.
- 16:10So, yeah, really pumped about this.
- 16:13I think it's awesome.
- 16:18And then...
- 16:22just to show on their Instagram yesterday,
- 16:26they put out some pictures and they were
- 16:28some of the more elite athletes,
- 16:31but the ones they have pinned to their
- 16:33story or pinned to their homepage are all
- 16:37the community athletes, um,
- 16:40forging elite fitness right there.
- 16:42So very, very cool.
- 16:50Trish says, I missed it.
- 16:52I was blinded by immediately buying the
- 16:54pukey shirt.
- 16:55Yeah.
- 17:02A summer pump.
- 17:02Scott is jazz.
- 17:03They are not the same.
- 17:04They're not.
- 17:06I am jazzed.
- 17:10So yeah, nice.
- 17:13Um, nice marketing.
- 17:15Jen is doing an outstanding job.
- 17:16I think Corey said it last week on
- 17:18our show.
- 17:19Uh, she needs paid.
- 17:20Uh, what she's doing is awesome.
- 17:24And, uh, Jenna needs pay the girl.
- 17:27Let's go.
- 17:31Uh, so that I also wanted to, uh,
- 17:34do a little bit more wrap up on
- 17:36crash.
- 17:38Um,
- 17:45It wasn't long ago people were telling me
- 17:46affiliates in CrossFit didn't need any of
- 17:48this with normal folk and that the sport
- 17:51was the way to go.
- 17:52Interesting.
- 17:54I don't ever think that the sport was
- 17:56the way to go.
- 17:58I think there's a way to use both.
- 18:03But I think if the pendulum swings too
- 18:05far to one side or the other,
- 18:08I think you're at risk of losing people
- 18:11on both sides.
- 18:17So that's what they have to be careful
- 18:19of.
- 18:24Trish,
- 18:25Jenna will get snagged away by another
- 18:27brand for more money if they aren't
- 18:29careful.
- 18:30Turning a brand around that is owned by
- 18:34private equity is a big deal.
- 18:36She can point to the numbers.
- 18:39And CrossFat says he agrees.
- 18:42And I do too.
- 18:45Yeah.
- 18:46And the one thing you can see with
- 18:47Jenna is if you follow her on Instagram,
- 18:50she's living the life.
- 18:51She's doing CrossFit.
- 18:57She's doing it.
- 18:58And when you see it means more when
- 19:01you're creating this message
- 19:03Because you're in it.
- 19:05You're in it with everybody else.
- 19:07And it helps you understand it.
- 19:09And therefore,
- 19:10that you can convey that message better to
- 19:13the community because you're with them
- 19:15every single day.
- 19:25Uh, Jake, yes, totally agree.
- 19:27And people have been telling me it would
- 19:28be a waste of time.
- 19:30I love this campaign.
- 19:32I do too.
- 19:33I do too.
- 19:34And as I said last night on our
- 19:35show, if I want fitness,
- 19:38I want the best fitness I can get.
- 19:40If I'm putting in the effort and the
- 19:42time and I want to get the best
- 19:46thing that is going to turn my fitness
- 19:48around.
- 19:50And I,
- 19:50that means I want the elite fitness.
- 19:54I don't want a second-rate Teemu fitness.
- 19:57I want elite fitness.
- 19:59And I love that they're sticking with
- 20:01forging elite fitness.
- 20:03I think that is what makes the most
- 20:05sense.
- 20:06I just didn't want it to be a
- 20:08full lean-in to elite athletes.
- 20:11I think you can sprinkle them in with
- 20:14the people we saw in this ad campaign
- 20:17because we can all get the same stimulus.
- 20:20We can all get the big turnaround.
- 20:22And I think with athletes like Dallin and
- 20:26Justin diving back into the community and
- 20:29doing community events that that is where
- 20:32Jake, it can be worked together.
- 20:36when you see it endorsed by the elite
- 20:38athletes and they're a part of it,
- 20:41then it's, it, it,
- 20:42it rings louder than if it's just some
- 20:47people at the affiliate,
- 20:48but it has to be,
- 20:50it has to be hand in hand walking
- 20:53down and,
- 20:54and not swinging the pendulum one way or
- 20:57another too much.
- 21:04Lita says,
- 21:04I think the problem is what Carolyn
- 21:06mentioned yesterday.
- 21:07It's hard to convince people that CrossFit
- 21:09is elite fitness.
- 21:10If you don't tell them it's CrossFit,
- 21:12they'll do it.
- 21:15I do think it's a problem.
- 21:17And I don't think it's that people think
- 21:19they can't do CrossFit.
- 21:21I think people don't want to do fitness.
- 21:24I think they're looking for the easy way
- 21:26out right now.
- 21:27Every other ad is about, hey,
- 21:30take this shot and it'll make you healthy.
- 21:32which is a bold faced lie.
- 21:35It doesn't make you healthy,
- 21:36it makes you skinny.
- 21:37Those are two different things.
- 21:40That drug was developed for people who
- 21:42have a specific issue to help them get
- 21:46things working correctly.
- 21:48It was not designed as a weight loss
- 21:50drug.
- 21:51And then people were diving into it and
- 21:54they think that this is making them
- 21:55healthy just because they're skinny.
- 21:58Skinny is not healthy.
- 22:00And maybe that's what we have to get
- 22:02into and convince people.
- 22:15You can't convince people CrossFit is
- 22:17elite fitness if they don't believe
- 22:18CrossFit's definition of fitness.
- 22:22we said this last night,
- 22:23Tristan on the show too.
- 22:25Like when I,
- 22:25when I started CrossFit in two thousand
- 22:27eleven,
- 22:27I lost two hundred and fifty plus pounds.
- 22:30Everybody asked me how I did it.
- 22:32And I said,
- 22:33I did it through hard work and a
- 22:36good diet.
- 22:37And then people said, well,
- 22:38that's not for me.
- 22:39I would.
- 22:40I'm waiting for the pill.
- 22:43Those people,
- 22:43you're never going to get into a gym
- 22:45regardless.
- 22:49It's just crazy.
- 22:55autistic killer.
- 22:56There is definitely a danger in leaning
- 22:57too far to the elite side and isolating
- 22:59people.
- 23:00But this ad is redefining what it means
- 23:01to be elite, not as ability,
- 23:03but willingness.
- 23:05It straddles the line perfectly.
- 23:06I, I think you're right.
- 23:14We are seeing HQ show people what CrossFit
- 23:17actually is.
- 23:17It's awesome.
- 23:18I know.
- 23:27Even though it's right,
- 23:29if they don't believe it,
- 23:31you can't convince them.
- 23:41How many members at the gym know what
- 23:42the sickness, wellness,
- 23:43fitness continuum is?
- 23:45I don't know, Jake,
- 23:46but I'd say that I talk about that
- 23:49continuum at least once a month.
- 24:04train all of it's also a mindset just
- 24:06when I think I'm super fit I watch
- 24:08the elites and remember I am just mediocre
- 24:10that makes me push harder well I hope
- 24:14um I hope you don't think you're mediocre
- 24:22because you're still probably in the upper
- 24:23five percent of the world um but I
- 24:27get I get the chip and why you
- 24:28need the chip
- 24:33Uh, Hiller,
- 24:34it's a terrible Instagram post.
- 24:36Uh,
- 24:36I'd love for you to expand on that
- 24:38and I'm sure you're going to at some
- 24:39point.
- 24:41Um, I like the campaign,
- 24:44but I'm sure you have a reason why
- 24:47it doesn't work as an Instagram post.
- 24:50Um, one,
- 24:51if you don't capture somebody in the first
- 24:52five seconds, you've lost them.
- 24:54So I'm thinking that's it.
- 24:56And that glitchy thing at the beginning,
- 24:59uh, is probably, uh,
- 25:01Um, not capturing somebody right away.
- 25:04It's kind of old.
- 25:06Um,
- 25:08cause that's why I started doing cold
- 25:10opens on the show.
- 25:11Um, having a theme song play first,
- 25:13doesn't capture anybody,
- 25:15but maybe two lines promoting my episode
- 25:19will.
- 25:20And so I'm trying to get better at
- 25:22cutting out the fluff at the beginning of
- 25:25all of my stuff.
- 25:28So I think,
- 25:30and then Lito says it's not in portrait
- 25:32mode.
- 25:33It's like the Hiller game show now.
- 25:36Try to figure out why Hiller says what
- 25:38he says.
- 25:48I am not addressing anything, Frank.
- 25:52Moose, not doing that.
- 25:57And train all of them motivated by
- 25:59self-deprecation.
- 26:02Got to give yourself a break occasionally,
- 26:04though.
- 26:09Hiller fit always has been.
- 26:10Nice.
- 26:13That's a nice catchphrase.
- 26:20So, yeah.
- 26:22I like the sentiment.
- 26:25Maybe a better...
- 26:27uh, maybe a better post,
- 26:31but I do like the sentiment of the
- 26:32ad.
- 26:32I'd like the footage in the ad.
- 26:36Um,
- 26:37I can't wait to hear what Hiller's going
- 26:39to say about this.
- 26:41So tune into his channel.
- 26:42I'm sure he's going to have a reaction.
- 26:47All right.
- 26:47Last thing crash.
- 26:50Uh,
- 26:53A couple things I want to clear up
- 26:54from.
- 26:56Oh, look at the comments.
- 27:00Man.
- 27:01Crash may be tomorrow.
- 27:03Whoops, wrong thing.
- 27:04Sorry.
- 27:06There we go.
- 27:19And Hiller's comment in the ad is okay.
- 27:25Now what?
- 27:35So there you're saying, okay,
- 27:38now you're motivated.
- 27:39There is no action item during this post.
- 27:44Now I see what you're saying.
- 27:50What is the action item?
- 27:52How do you get to a gym?
- 27:54How do you sign up?
- 27:55Where do you go?
- 28:01Where's the affiliate map?
- 28:02Where's, how do I get to an affiliate?
- 28:04I, now I get to what you're saying.
- 28:11So, all right, I gotcha.
- 28:22Jake says, I guess Google got taken down.
- 28:26They were having server issues at Amazon
- 28:28today.
- 28:29It's taken down a slew of sites.
- 28:33Even at my work, we've lost some servers.
- 28:37Some have come back.
- 28:39We'll see what happens.
- 28:50All right.
- 28:50Last thing with crash real quick.
- 28:52The one thing that I'm really stoked about
- 28:54that Crash did and the broadcast team did
- 28:58is they found a way to show multiple
- 29:01athletes at the same time.
- 29:08Um,
- 29:08the picture and pictures done in the
- 29:10corners was awesome.
- 29:12The split screens were awesome.
- 29:14For the first time,
- 29:16a broadcast team has taken into account
- 29:18that there may be a race that's not
- 29:21just in the middle lanes.
- 29:23And they gave us the opportunity to see
- 29:26multiple athletes at the same time and
- 29:28found creative ways of doing it.
- 29:30And I want a huge,
- 29:33huge shout out to them.
- 29:34Um, and a huge kudos to, um,
- 29:38to Sousa for coming up with some of
- 29:40those.
- 29:41What a freaking amazing piece of that
- 29:43broadcast that I know Jamie and I have
- 29:45been bitching about for years.
- 29:48um that has been my biggest bitch at
- 29:52most of these crossfit competitions is not
- 29:54being able to see the race that they
- 29:56get stuck on one lane but here they
- 29:58found a way to show multiple athletes at
- 30:02the same time and creative ways of doing
- 30:05it and huge kudos go out because that
- 30:09has been
- 30:10that has been my biggest bitch for five
- 30:12freaking years.
- 30:13And they finally, finally, um,
- 30:16finally figured it out.
- 30:18And, um,
- 30:20This is why I get pissed at like
- 30:24Hamilton roads because they don't do
- 30:26anything to change.
- 30:27It's the same broadcast.
- 30:29It was in two thousand twelve.
- 30:30The same type of footage,
- 30:32the same camera angles.
- 30:34What Savon and his crew did yesterday came
- 30:37up with new angles,
- 30:38new ways of showing things.
- 30:39It was a crystal clear picture.
- 30:41Nope.
- 30:42Depixelations.
- 30:43It was awesome.
- 30:45And they also featured more athletes by
- 30:47doing after heat interviews,
- 30:49sitting down with people.
- 30:50It was really, really cool.
- 30:53Lito says it's easier with five to six
- 30:55people in a heat though.
- 30:57It's not, if you're doing,
- 30:59if you're doing picture and picture
- 31:01things,
- 31:01you just send the cameraman to the lanes
- 31:03that are in the race.
- 31:06That's it's simple.
- 31:07It's simple.
- 31:12So, um,
- 31:16That is what I truly loved about the
- 31:18broadcast this weekend is that has been a
- 31:20major problem and they found a way to
- 31:23fix it.
- 31:24If they can do picture in picture,
- 31:26then Hamilton Road should be able to do
- 31:28picture in picture for what they're paid.
- 31:30It's just getting a cameraman in different
- 31:32lanes.
- 31:33That's it.
- 31:34Find out where the race is,
- 31:35get the cameraman in those lanes and
- 31:38follow those people so you can see all
- 31:40of them at the same time.
- 31:42That was awesome.
- 31:48The other thing I loved about the weekend
- 31:50was, Lito, I don't like heats of twenty.
- 31:55That's just dumb.
- 31:57But even in a heat of twenty,
- 31:59if you know that these three or four
- 32:01people are in the race,
- 32:02that's where you get the cameraman to and
- 32:04you split the screen so you can see
- 32:06all of those people.
- 32:08You don't have to have them side by
- 32:10side anymore.
- 32:11The way they did it is they did
- 32:13it in picture in picture where you can
- 32:14go to the different lanes and they show
- 32:16up on different parts of the screen and
- 32:18you can see the whole thing.
- 32:26The other thing I loved is all of
- 32:27the behind the scenes.
- 32:29Whether it was Hiller,
- 32:29whether it was Glinton Things,
- 32:31whether it was the Savon podcast,
- 32:34all of the different behind the scenes
- 32:36helped me learn more about all of these
- 32:38people that were there.
- 32:40Um, it, it matters.
- 32:42These are all people that are trying to
- 32:44become elite.
- 32:45And the more we know about them as
- 32:46we get into the season,
- 32:47especially me as trying to,
- 32:49to analyze everything that's going on,
- 32:51the more I know about them,
- 32:52the better I feel about my analysis.
- 32:55And I truly appreciated everybody's effort
- 32:57to get different behind the scenes out at
- 33:00different times this weekend.
- 33:01And they were all really good.
- 33:03Um,
- 33:05And they were all done in different ways,
- 33:06which was really cool.
- 33:08Each person had their own flair,
- 33:10and I loved it.
- 33:17Behind the scenes is for a handful of
- 33:18people.
- 33:19Well, I'm one of those people, Trish,
- 33:20so I truly enjoyed it.
- 33:30Trish,
- 33:30I don't really care what the creators are
- 33:31doing.
- 33:33I'm consuming the content they're doing,
- 33:35so I do care.
- 33:36I really thought it was cool.
- 33:47Be nice, Jay Birch.
- 33:48Be nice.
- 33:52Train Olive, love the rivalry videos.
- 33:56I liked it.
- 33:58thought there were some unique takes there
- 33:59we'll talk about it maybe more as the
- 34:01week goes on um so but i i
- 34:07thought a couple of them came up with
- 34:09some unique ideas with that uh claire nice
- 34:18to see you again i definitely get feedback
- 34:20from attendees that they are just excited
- 34:23to see the media personalities in action
- 34:29Yeah.
- 34:31So people hanging around the analyst table
- 34:33a lot in the broadcast.
- 34:36Uh, so yeah,
- 34:37there were people attracted to that for
- 34:38sure.
- 34:44I'm sorry.
- 34:45I have to cut this short today.
- 34:46Cause I do have an appointment.
- 34:48I've my last couple of tests this week
- 34:51before my big test in November.
- 34:55So I got to go get that stuff
- 34:56done.
- 34:58But I will be back tomorrow.
- 35:01Probably two shows tomorrow.
- 35:03We'll be doing the lunch show and then
- 35:05we're going to do a dinner show with
- 35:08Kelly Clark and,
- 35:10Kelly Clark, former semifinal athlete,
- 35:12Masters athlete,
- 35:14but one of the newest red shirts.
- 35:16And she is putting together a program to
- 35:19make firemen healthy on the job so that
- 35:22they can do the job to the best
- 35:24of their ability.
- 35:25We're going to talk about that in a
- 35:27nice casual conversation tomorrow night on
- 35:30the show.
- 35:31So join me then either tomorrow at lunch
- 35:34or tomorrow night at dinner.
- 35:36We'll be doing both tomorrow.
- 35:38Thank you so much for joining me.
- 35:39I love you all.
- 35:40It's been an awesome day.
- 35:42We'll see each other.
- 35:43We'll see you tomorrow.
- 35:45Next time, lunch, Clydesdale,
- 35:47all that stuff.
- 35:47Bye.
- 35:47Bye.
