- 0:16Speaker 1: Hello, and welcome everybody to episode one fifty two of
- 0:20Speaker 1: Cards and Categories. I am Mike Cooler from Baseball Perspectus,
- 0:23Speaker 1: joined per usual by my very good friend Jeremy Brewer
- 0:26Speaker 1: from Rassball.
- 0:27Speaker 2: How are you doing tonight, Buddy, doing great, doing fantastic,
- 0:31Speaker 2: Glad to be here. We survived a massive windstorms here
- 0:34Speaker 2: in central Illinois. Not that corn did not. My house
- 0:39Speaker 2: was questionable. I just swimming pool in my kitchen for
- 0:42Speaker 2: a little while. It was fantastic. But otherwise we are
- 0:45Speaker 2: good to go. We're back to talking baseball. So nothing
- 0:49Speaker 2: like talking with West Weather and baseball.
- 0:51Speaker 1: Oh yeah, that's all there is to do during August.
- 0:54Speaker 1: As you know, you're trying to avoid getting ready for
- 0:56Speaker 1: school time, especially if you're a kid out there. And yeah,
- 1:00Speaker 1: we are recording on a different day today, so keep
- 1:02Speaker 1: that in mind as we discuss. It is Tuesday, August eighteenth,
- 1:06Speaker 1: usual record on Wednesdays. I can tell that the baseball
- 1:10Speaker 1: gods are spiting us for that, because they really brought
- 1:14Speaker 1: down a handful of injuries. After I had drafted the
- 1:18Speaker 1: rundown for this afternoon before games kicked off this afternoon
- 1:22Speaker 1: or this evening, we had another nice little wave of
- 1:26Speaker 1: injuries to get through. So before we do that, though,
- 1:29Speaker 1: let's obviously focus on the biggest news of the week
- 1:32Speaker 1: and weekend, Joshua Bias becoming the first player in MLB
- 1:36Speaker 1: history to swat homers in his first three at bats
- 1:39Speaker 1: and has not found grasp with the ball since then
- 1:44Speaker 1: in terms of at least not being able to find
- 1:46Speaker 1: a hit. As we're speaking, the Cardinals are still playing
- 1:49Speaker 1: in Cincinnati, but he is oh for his last twenty
- 1:54Speaker 1: and no walks. He's got more strikeouts than the RBIs Now.
- 1:58Speaker 1: He did pick up an RBI to noight, but had
- 2:00Speaker 1: five RBIs to go with those three homers and now
- 2:03Speaker 1: has a thirty point four percent k rate and a
- 2:07Speaker 1: one forty three batting average. So I talked about this
- 2:11Speaker 1: with Gray a little bit earlier this week as I
- 2:13Speaker 1: subbed in for beat On on the RAS Ball podcast,
- 2:17Speaker 1: just that like this is pretty much the Joshuas Bias
- 2:20Speaker 1: experience in a nutshell that like, I think you're gonna
- 2:23Speaker 1: get bursts of homers, and then you're gonna get tons
- 2:25Speaker 1: and tons of strikeouts and a burst of homers and
- 2:27Speaker 1: tons and tons of strikeouts. So it's it's fun that
- 2:31Speaker 1: we saw that, but I can tell you that if
- 2:33Speaker 1: you got hoodwinked into buying one of those expensive Bowman
- 2:36Speaker 1: first that were going on eBay over the weekend. For
- 2:39Speaker 1: Joshua Bias, this is not a guy who is the
- 2:42Speaker 1: second coming of Hank Aaron or anything like that. I
- 2:46Speaker 1: think he's more of the second coming of like a
- 2:48Speaker 1: Well Gray comped him to William Opena. He's got shades
- 2:54Speaker 1: of like I'm not even sure there's like Aristides a
- 2:58Speaker 1: Quino is maybe in there too in terms of like
- 3:01Speaker 1: just the raw bat speed being tremendous for Bias, but
- 3:06Speaker 1: the raw bat control is very lacking. And I covered
- 3:12Speaker 1: that again with Gray too. Is that like if you
- 3:14Speaker 1: watch any of the swings in those first three homers,
- 3:16Speaker 1: he's got a very long swing. Bias has lots of
- 3:19Speaker 1: holes in his swings and the pitchers have found them
- 3:21Speaker 1: pretty quickly. But with all that kind of set up,
- 3:24Speaker 1: like I think I'm still bullish on him, because you're
- 3:27Speaker 1: looking at a guy who's gonna run into plenty of homers.
- 3:29Speaker 1: It's just that the batting average is gonna be a
- 3:31Speaker 1: little bit low, and if he can learn the strike zone,
- 3:35Speaker 1: that's gonna be Bias's I think biggest challenge as he
- 3:39Speaker 1: moves forward in the major leagues. I think he got
- 3:41Speaker 1: a little bored with the miners and stopped walking as much.
- 3:44Speaker 1: But I mean you've been all over him as well
- 3:46Speaker 1: because he has been a Cardinals prospect. We've seen the
- 3:50Speaker 1: extreme lows that Bias has gone through as long with
- 3:52Speaker 1: the extreme highs now. So what's your take on him
- 3:55Speaker 1: going forward?
- 3:57Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean you give some interesting comps. The comp
- 3:59Speaker 2: I'm gonna throw it through as a poor man's Elie
- 4:01Speaker 2: dela Cruz. You know, if you, if you look if you,
- 4:03Speaker 2: if you look at it, he strikes out a lot.
- 4:06Speaker 2: He walks a decent amount very strong bat speed. He's
- 4:11Speaker 2: gonna he's gonna steal some bass, he's gonna hit some
- 4:13Speaker 2: home runs like and he's gonna be hot and cold
- 4:16Speaker 2: like that. That's and that's Elie dela Cruz for you.
- 4:19Speaker 2: I'm not putting him on that same pedestal as the
- 4:21Speaker 2: first rounder of Elie dela Cruz, but just from an
- 4:24Speaker 2: overall experience and the kind of guy you have, like
- 4:26Speaker 2: that's that's what what it feels like. And so I
- 4:29Speaker 2: think you're absolutely right, he's gonna be a guy that
- 4:31Speaker 2: fills the stat sheet sometimes and he's to go a
- 4:33Speaker 2: week without touching the ball, and that's kind of what
- 4:36Speaker 2: that experience is. I'm really excited to see him get
- 4:39Speaker 2: the playing time and get an opportunity because this is
- 4:43Speaker 2: a guy that's been producing the last few years, like
- 4:45Speaker 2: in the miners, and he kind of he always had
- 4:48Speaker 2: the talent. It was just a matter of is he's
- 4:50Speaker 2: gonna put things together, And really the last two years
- 4:52Speaker 2: he absolutely put it together. And it was just it
- 4:56Speaker 2: took him forcing the Cardinal's hands to really let him
- 4:59Speaker 2: him him go. And he could be a really really
- 5:02Speaker 2: exciting piece from a fancy perspective and even a real
- 5:05Speaker 2: world perspective.
- 5:05Speaker 3: So I like it.
- 5:07Speaker 2: I mean, it's it's risky, it could blow go up
- 5:10Speaker 2: in flames, but he has been so strong in the miners.
- 5:14Speaker 2: This is the kind of guy that even if he
- 5:16Speaker 2: is like sixty seventy percent of what his minor league
- 5:19Speaker 2: production is, you're still getting a guy that could, you know,
- 5:22Speaker 2: hit twenty homers, steal twenty bases, hit two thirty or
- 5:25Speaker 2: something like that, and that's valuable. That's still valuable. So
- 5:30Speaker 2: I'm excited to see what see what happens here. But
- 5:32Speaker 2: the hot and cold, that's what you're gonna get with Bias.
- 5:35Speaker 1: Yeah, absolutely. I mean the the thing to keep in
- 5:38Speaker 1: mind too, is that he did run extreme strikeout rates
- 5:42Speaker 1: in the low miners to where everybody was calling this
- 5:45Speaker 1: a bust second round pick for the Cardinals. You know,
- 5:47Speaker 1: had a strikeout rate that was beginning usually with a
- 5:50Speaker 1: three and then somewhere in the mid three thirties when
- 5:53Speaker 1: he was in the lowest levels of the miners, made
- 5:56Speaker 1: a swing change and approach change in twenty two twenty
- 6:00Speaker 1: five cut down on those strikeouts to twenty percent level.
- 6:03Speaker 1: They pop back up more so this year, but like
- 6:06Speaker 1: I said, there were spurts where, like I think he
- 6:08Speaker 1: was just getting bored with triple A because he was
- 6:10Speaker 1: just swinging out of his shoes and everything. But now
- 6:13Speaker 1: the problem is he's got to recorrect and lock back in.
- 6:17Speaker 1: So we'll see if Bias can do that. I think
- 6:20Speaker 1: I'm a little bit more bearish on the batting average.
- 6:22Speaker 1: I think if he can keep it above the Mendoza line,
- 6:25Speaker 1: the Cardinals will be happy. But I do think that
- 6:28Speaker 1: this is gonna be a guy who is gonna be
- 6:31Speaker 1: useful in lots of fantasy leagues. But in shallower of
- 6:33Speaker 1: fantasy leagues, like he's gonna go so cold you have
- 6:36Speaker 1: no choice but to cut him every once in a while,
- 6:38Speaker 1: and he's gonna come back and have like a five
- 6:41Speaker 1: six homer weeks somewhere out of nowhere, and you just
- 6:44Speaker 1: have to understand that is gonna be the experience of
- 6:47Speaker 1: the ups and downs of Joshua Bias. Certainly, if you're
- 6:50Speaker 1: in a league where you've got deep benches, you've got
- 6:52Speaker 1: daily lineups, he's more worth keeping on too there. But
- 6:56Speaker 1: if you're short on roster spots, I don't think to
- 7:00Speaker 1: feel terribly bad about maybe missing out on josh Bias
- 7:03Speaker 1: if he went for an absurd amount of money in
- 7:05Speaker 1: your fabron.
- 7:07Speaker 2: Yeah, and our wallets do thank you for all those
- 7:09Speaker 2: eBay buyers out there. The bottle of our our huh
- 7:13Speaker 2: just well, BIA's first Bowman cards that we've been trying
- 7:15Speaker 2: to sell.
- 7:15Speaker 1: So yeah, it was quite the feeding frenzy and saw
- 7:19Speaker 1: lots of memes on Instagram reels too, in terms of
- 7:22Speaker 1: like people digging through all the dollar boxes and rookie
- 7:25Speaker 1: card boxes looking for those Bias cards because he did
- 7:29Speaker 1: not really have any pedigree. I mean, he was known
- 7:31Speaker 1: within the Saintless Cardinals, like prospect community and anybody who's
- 7:35Speaker 1: you know, played fantasy, But I don't think anybody saw
- 7:38Speaker 1: him putting up history that Saturday. Okay, well, let's dive
- 7:42Speaker 1: into the long list of injuries and just other things
- 7:46Speaker 1: that we've got going on, because the first one is
- 7:48Speaker 1: not an injury with Kateel Marte of the Arizona Diamondbacks. Well,
- 7:52Speaker 1: it could be, I guess it's possibly. The news that
- 7:56Speaker 1: we've gotten is that like they did send him back
- 8:00Speaker 1: to Arizona apparently to get testing on his knee done.
- 8:05Speaker 1: But the original story when this broke yesterday on Monday
- 8:09Speaker 1: was that he just hadn't shown up to the team
- 8:12Speaker 1: clubhouse in Boston and then went on the restricted list.
- 8:15Speaker 1: And there has been some spats, I would say, between
- 8:19Speaker 1: catel Marte and the Arizona Diamondbacks in the past, where recently,
- 8:23Speaker 1: I think over the All Star Break, katel Marte like
- 8:27Speaker 1: unfollowed the team on Instagram and stuff like that, where
- 8:30Speaker 1: there's always been some internal strife and I can kind
- 8:33Speaker 1: of understand it because they signed into this long term
- 8:36Speaker 1: deal and then like have constantly tried to shove Marte's
- 8:41Speaker 1: name into every set of trade rumors that can ever find.
- 8:45Speaker 1: But for right now, it looks like he's gonna be
- 8:47Speaker 1: on the restricted list. We'll see what happens with this knee.
- 8:50Speaker 1: We do know that Martine has been battling something with
- 8:53Speaker 1: his knee kind of off and on throughout the season,
- 8:56Speaker 1: and it's been an okay season, certainly for a second
- 8:59Speaker 1: base is great and maybe a little bit under your
- 9:03Speaker 1: expectations for where you drafted him. But at least he's
- 9:05Speaker 1: been posting numbers twenty one homers at the two forty
- 9:08Speaker 1: nine three fourteen forty six slash line. There's only a
- 9:12Speaker 1: one oh five WRC plus through one hundred and eighteen games.
- 9:15Speaker 1: He is thirty two and turns thirty three in the offseason.
- 9:19Speaker 1: So I mean, do you what's your read on this
- 9:21Speaker 1: ka tell Marte situation for the Dbacks and what's your
- 9:24Speaker 1: read on him going into next year?
- 9:27Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, this isn't really really odd one Like,
- 9:29Speaker 2: there there's no news out there about what's going on
- 9:32Speaker 2: except for all the weird speculations of what this could
- 9:36Speaker 2: possibly be. You know, the Diamedbacks are trying to do
- 9:39Speaker 2: their best by you know, calling it a personal issue
- 9:42Speaker 2: and saying that he's in contact with the team through
- 9:43Speaker 2: the right channels and all, but like just the feeling
- 9:46Speaker 2: around it is that something else is going on here.
- 9:49Speaker 2: And your point, like Marte has been known to not
- 9:51Speaker 2: necessarily be the guy that sticks around and is always dedicated.
- 9:56Speaker 2: There's just always been this little thing about him that
- 9:59Speaker 2: kind of props up from a clubhouse perspective that he
- 10:01Speaker 2: may not be the most dedicated, but it's we just
- 10:04Speaker 2: don't know. We don't know, And I think at this
- 10:07Speaker 2: point the season, you if you can move him, move them,
- 10:11Speaker 2: like I go for it, because he could be back
- 10:14Speaker 2: tomorrow or he might not be back at all. Like
- 10:16Speaker 2: I just I think that the spectrum of outcomes here
- 10:19Speaker 2: is pretty pretty broad. So I'm really just saying hold
- 10:24Speaker 2: on to Marte and hope for the best. From an
- 10:27Speaker 2: overall production perspective, Like, you know, Marte did was great
- 10:32Speaker 2: the last two seasons. I feel like this season is
- 10:34Speaker 2: more of like the typical of who he is is
- 10:36Speaker 2: coming back a little down to earth. You know, he's
- 10:38Speaker 2: gonna be as many average was down a little this year,
- 10:42Speaker 2: so I think, you know, we can expect that to
- 10:43Speaker 2: bounce back up. I haven't really seen any skilled degradation
- 10:47Speaker 2: or anything that I'm too concerned with. So I still
- 10:50Speaker 2: think he's a solid high floor player. But he's also
- 10:53Speaker 2: not the kind of guy that I've never find myself
- 10:56Speaker 2: wanting to draft kets up Marte. I just find myself
- 10:58Speaker 2: backing into him because every something else is that I'm
- 11:01Speaker 2: really excited about is gone, and he's still solid enough,
- 11:04Speaker 2: and so I've still got him in valuable territory. I
- 11:08Speaker 2: don't know what the ranking would be, but he's a
- 11:11Speaker 2: twenty twenty five homer bat. He's gonna put up eighty
- 11:13Speaker 2: to ninety runs and RBIs he's gonna hit probably two
- 11:17Speaker 2: seventy to two eighty, and there's value there and there's
- 11:21Speaker 2: nothing wrong with that. I'm just chalking up to something's
- 11:23Speaker 2: going on now. I'm not sure if the rest of
- 11:25Speaker 2: the season brings I'll take him for what he is
- 11:28Speaker 2: in twenty seven.
- 11:29Speaker 1: Okay, Yeah, I think I'm there with you. I think
- 11:31Speaker 1: that's a very fair evaluation there. To tell Marte, well,
- 11:35Speaker 1: what are you going to chalk up this one too?
- 11:38Speaker 1: Let's get into some of the real injuries. The first
- 11:40Speaker 1: one we got off the bat is let's talk another
- 11:43Speaker 1: injury to a guy who might have been first roundish,
- 11:46Speaker 1: but probably was a little bit more of an early
- 11:48Speaker 1: second rounder in drafts. At the beginning of the season,
- 11:51Speaker 1: Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Junior going on
- 11:54Speaker 1: in the IL for a concussion after running into George
- 11:58Speaker 1: Lombard over the weekend against the Game Keys. And this
- 12:03Speaker 1: is a mess of a line from a guy who's
- 12:06Speaker 1: twenty seven years old and has been is about to
- 12:09Speaker 1: be paid thirty five million dollars a year for his
- 12:12Speaker 1: messianic bat. The slash line this year two sixty three,
- 12:16Speaker 1: three thirty seven, three fifty six. That's a ninety six
- 12:20Speaker 1: WRC plus seven homers, has not hit one at home,
- 12:24Speaker 1: still seven stolen bases in one hundred and fifteen games.
- 12:27Speaker 1: You look at that satline like, oh man, that was
- 12:30Speaker 1: a slow first two months for Vladimir Grayer or Junior. No,
- 12:34Speaker 1: it is mid August at this point where I think
- 12:38Speaker 1: he's You can see it in the ownership rates on
- 12:40Speaker 1: CBS leagues and elsewhere like ESPN leagues that he is
- 12:44Speaker 1: being dropped in the shallows of the leagues right now.
- 12:48Speaker 1: And I don't blame him. I've got I've got him
- 12:50Speaker 1: in one spot in a in a ten team league
- 12:52Speaker 1: where I have been right on the edge of dropping
- 12:56Speaker 1: him for the past few weeks because the power is
- 13:00Speaker 1: totally evaporated here, the barrel rate has been halfed. His
- 13:05Speaker 1: hard hit rate is at a career low forty three percent.
- 13:08Speaker 1: You know, I guess I'm not including twenty nineteen there
- 13:12Speaker 1: he did debut without a lower hard hit rate, but
- 13:15Speaker 1: so that was the last time he had one that
- 13:17Speaker 1: was below forty five percent, even forty nine percent. So
- 13:23Speaker 1: there's a lot going wrong with Ladimir gro Junior. And
- 13:25Speaker 1: I've also been seeing kind of chatter about people are
- 13:28Speaker 1: wondering if there's a back or a shoulder or knee
- 13:32Speaker 1: issue that's been bothering him, and maybe this concussion I
- 13:35Speaker 1: el stent might actually help him be able to take
- 13:38Speaker 1: a little rest and see if he can get back
- 13:40Speaker 1: to who he was, especially in the playoffs, Like Vladimir
- 13:45Speaker 1: Gerro Junior in the playoffs looked like prime Babe Ruth.
- 13:49Speaker 1: So like, what are we doing with blad Junior, Because like,
- 13:54Speaker 1: maybe there might be an injury, but like at the
- 13:57Speaker 1: same time, it is all really falling apart, and if
- 13:59Speaker 1: he's not gonna hit the ball hard and he's not
- 14:01Speaker 1: gonna put it in the air. This dude is a
- 14:05Speaker 1: big nothing burger for us in in in Fantasy, because
- 14:08Speaker 1: we needed the homers, we need the batting average, We
- 14:11Speaker 1: needed just that very very unreal power. What's your take
- 14:16Speaker 1: on Vladimir Gara Junior?
- 14:17Speaker 3: Yeah, I think it takes twofold here one.
- 14:21Speaker 2: Uh. This is always who've lad has been. Like, let's
- 14:24Speaker 2: be clear about this, He's always been the guy hits
- 14:26Speaker 2: too many ground balls. He always this guy hits too
- 14:28Speaker 2: many line drives, and look cut up to him this
- 14:32Speaker 2: year and he's sitting about five percent home run for
- 14:35Speaker 2: a flag ball, right, which is like a third of
- 14:37Speaker 2: his career average, and so that's gonna hurt him. But
- 14:40Speaker 2: at the same time, he's not making he's not squaring
- 14:42Speaker 2: the ball up, and it's it's hard to tell, Like
- 14:44Speaker 2: if you look at his plate discipline.
- 14:46Speaker 3: It's oddly all over the place. It's it is like
- 14:49Speaker 3: there's it's it's.
- 14:50Speaker 2: Not like he's swinging out of the zone and having
- 14:53Speaker 2: all kinds of issues there. It's like he's swinging more
- 14:57Speaker 2: and making more contact Like this is this is really
- 15:00Speaker 2: the odd odd thing going is just like he has
- 15:02Speaker 2: such a good batting eye and he's so much good
- 15:05Speaker 2: back control that when he's like expanding the zone like
- 15:07Speaker 2: he's just he's hitting everything. He's swinging the first pitch
- 15:11Speaker 2: like he's he's just being ultra aggressive, and then it's
- 15:14Speaker 2: just not working out.
- 15:15Speaker 3: But you know, the bat.
- 15:17Speaker 2: Speed's still there, you know, he there's just something going
- 15:22Speaker 2: on with that overall quality of contract contact. I think
- 15:25Speaker 2: it is maybe that pitch selection, which is just coming
- 15:27Speaker 2: from him pressing because he feels the pressure.
- 15:30Speaker 3: So I look at this of I hate to say
- 15:33Speaker 3: like this is who.
- 15:34Speaker 2: Lad is to a degree with bad luck, because there
- 15:38Speaker 2: isn't really one or two things under the covers where
- 15:41Speaker 2: I'm like, yeah, it's off, like yeah, the barrel rates down.
- 15:44Speaker 3: But again, you know.
- 15:46Speaker 2: It's it's not like the speed speeds off. It's not
- 15:49Speaker 2: like he all of a sudden started hitting you know,
- 15:51Speaker 2: flyballs versus ground or saying like all those things there,
- 15:54Speaker 2: he's expected batting average is still two eighty two, Like
- 15:57Speaker 2: he's still doing all those things. He's just doesn't have
- 16:00Speaker 2: the power. And if the luck went the other way,
- 16:04Speaker 2: we would not be having this conversation because he would
- 16:06Speaker 2: he'd probably have say fifteen to twenty homers he's hidden
- 16:10Speaker 2: to eighty two, eighty five. A few more RBIs have
- 16:14Speaker 2: been there and'll be saying this is a normal season.
- 16:16Speaker 2: So I think this is what this tells you is
- 16:18Speaker 2: that Lad is going to live and die by the
- 16:23Speaker 2: flyball that are leaving the yard and if those line
- 16:25Speaker 2: drives are making it out, because he's never going to
- 16:28Speaker 2: be this guy that really I was gonna say hits
- 16:30Speaker 2: forty home runs. He did actually do that once in
- 16:32Speaker 2: twenty one, but there's a lot a lot of extra
- 16:35Speaker 2: luck that came with that one as well. So I
- 16:37Speaker 2: hate to say that you've got a downgrade vladd Junior here,
- 16:40Speaker 2: but it's really hard with this profile to trust. This
- 16:43Speaker 2: is the Yandi Diaz profile.
- 16:45Speaker 3: That's what this is.
- 16:46Speaker 2: And I hate to say that he might end up
- 16:49Speaker 2: in the same range as Yandi before too long.
- 16:53Speaker 1: Well, I don't think he's going to be drafted there
- 16:54Speaker 1: because the projections are still going to kick out a
- 16:57Speaker 1: pretty nice number because they are, yeah, and so like
- 17:00Speaker 1: that's that's something you got to consider. And like we've
- 17:03Speaker 1: seen this previously from Vlad where he's not played up
- 17:06Speaker 1: to projections, and you gotta make the decision whether or
- 17:09Speaker 1: not you're gonna believe the mirror and you're out. And
- 17:12Speaker 1: it feels like every time I'm one way or the other,
- 17:14Speaker 1: I'm I'm on the wrong side. And so it is
- 17:18Speaker 1: a confounding profile because yeah, it is very dependent on
- 17:24Speaker 1: how much luck that he can generate in terms of
- 17:27Speaker 1: like the liners being just a couple of ticks up
- 17:31Speaker 1: far enough that they're homers instead of doubles. And the
- 17:35Speaker 1: other thing too, is like it does look like a
- 17:37Speaker 1: profile of the of a guy who is like pressing
- 17:40Speaker 1: with a giant contract but like just arrived, like like
- 17:44Speaker 1: Kyle Tucker or something where I think that the chase,
- 17:48Speaker 1: the little bit extra chase and the little bit of
- 17:51Speaker 1: the backing up of that walk rate is just enough
- 17:55Speaker 1: to throw off the entire profile for Flat because if
- 17:58Speaker 1: he's a little bit off center when he's at the plate,
- 18:01Speaker 1: then he can't find the launch angle right and then
- 18:03Speaker 1: he's just kind of going through it on top of
- 18:05Speaker 1: it all, Like, I don't think it helps it that
- 18:08Speaker 1: Blue Jays lineup does not have a lot of protection
- 18:11Speaker 1: around him, and so I think he feels the need
- 18:15Speaker 1: to venture out of the zone a little bit more
- 18:18Speaker 1: to try to generate a little bit more offense for
- 18:20Speaker 1: the Blue Jays and then it just kind of crumbles
- 18:22Speaker 1: from there. So it will be interesting to see if
- 18:25Speaker 1: the Blue Jays can add a little bit around him.
- 18:28Speaker 1: You know, they should get Santander back next year, but
- 18:31Speaker 1: they do need another big bat in that lineup to
- 18:34Speaker 1: go with Vlad. I think to help him out too. Yep. Okay,
- 18:38Speaker 1: let's go to the New York Yankees because we're gonna
- 18:40Speaker 1: talk Max Freed here. He has been placed on the
- 18:43Speaker 1: il with a bone bruise in his left elbow, and
- 18:48Speaker 1: it sounds like it's actually pretty much the same injury
- 18:51Speaker 1: that cost him two months back in May, but they
- 18:54Speaker 1: are saying that this one he could be back pretty soon,
- 18:58Speaker 1: where there is a little bit of a whiff of
- 19:01Speaker 1: maybe the Yankees are just making sure they're resting up
- 19:04Speaker 1: Max Freed for the playoffs. Here, that has been a
- 19:07Speaker 1: pretty classic Max Freed season. A two eighty one RA,
- 19:11Speaker 1: a one whip and a fifteen point seven K minus
- 19:15Speaker 1: BB with an eight point two K nine over eighty
- 19:18Speaker 1: six and a third innings has given you plenty of
- 19:21Speaker 1: quality starts in those outings, seven out of fifteen starts
- 19:25Speaker 1: where quality where quality starts. But I will say, this
- 19:31Speaker 1: is pretty worrisome. We've always seen Max Freed run into
- 19:35Speaker 1: form issues elbow issues, and he's never He's always kind
- 19:40Speaker 1: of danced and avoided the ghost that is major elbow surgery.
- 19:45Speaker 1: But I do also wonder this bone bruce concerns me
- 19:47Speaker 1: because that means for that to be happening, you're getting
- 19:51Speaker 1: some bone on bone rubbing right in your arm, Like
- 19:54Speaker 1: there's no other way for that to be happening. And
- 19:56Speaker 1: if you're also doing that, you're getting bone on bone
- 20:00Speaker 1: contact at pretty high speeds. And you might start talking
- 20:05Speaker 1: like Spencer Schwellenbach territory of where like if you just
- 20:08Speaker 1: can't throw the ball and pitch without your bones kind
- 20:12Speaker 1: of running into each other and your elbow, that's not
- 20:15Speaker 1: a good directory for a pitcher to be in because
- 20:19Speaker 1: how do you correct that without really reworking your entire
- 20:22Speaker 1: mechanical loads. So talk me back from the edge maybe
- 20:26Speaker 1: a little bit here on Max Freed, or are you
- 20:29Speaker 1: in the same camp with me where you're worried that
- 20:31Speaker 1: this elbow is finally on its last legs?
- 20:34Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean I would like to not be worried.
- 20:36Speaker 2: But this is the second time the season that he's
- 20:39Speaker 2: had this issue.
- 20:40Speaker 3: I mean, he can. I think he used to pitch.
- 20:45Speaker 2: Well, no matter when, no matter what, when he's on
- 20:48Speaker 2: the mound, he's pitching well, which tells me that it's
- 20:52Speaker 2: not impacting his mechanics, but it's it's probably a nagging
- 20:56Speaker 2: type of thing that he's dealing with. My silver lighting
- 20:58Speaker 2: right now is I think you've you look at where
- 21:00Speaker 2: the Yankees are in the standings and knowing that they
- 21:02Speaker 2: need they need Max Freed for the playoffs. I I
- 21:06Speaker 2: hope that what they're playing right now is get him healthy,
- 21:09Speaker 2: give him some time off, get him back ramped up
- 21:10Speaker 2: for the playoffs, and that's and that's the game they're
- 21:12Speaker 2: gonna play. But you know, he missed two months earlier
- 21:15Speaker 2: in the season with a very very similar injury, and
- 21:19Speaker 2: he's been relatively durable throughout his career. But he's he's
- 21:22Speaker 2: also I say durable, He's never been a guy that's
- 21:24Speaker 2: gone incredibly deep into games consistently, Like it's just not
- 21:28Speaker 2: been his cup of tea. He has never pitched more
- 21:31Speaker 2: than two hundred intings. He's he's actually only pitched more
- 21:34Speaker 2: than one hundred and you know, eighty five innings one time.
- 21:39Speaker 2: And so I think this is a delicate arm. I mean,
- 21:44Speaker 2: he's a tall guy, he's a skinny guy. He doesn't
- 21:47Speaker 2: have a lot of haf thought on him. He's six
- 21:49Speaker 2: four nine, that's why he's listed that, And if I
- 21:51Speaker 2: know anything about baseball players and being listed as things,
- 21:54Speaker 2: that means he's like probably six four one seventy five
- 21:57Speaker 2: and he looks at So I'm concerned that I think
- 22:02Speaker 2: Max Freed is going to continue to be a valuable player.
- 22:05Speaker 2: This is I'm gonna use my Brandon Woodriff discussion we
- 22:08Speaker 2: had a few weeks back before the Next Century for
- 22:12Speaker 2: Brandon Woodriff, which is, this is the kind of guy
- 22:14Speaker 2: if he's pitching, I want him on my team.
- 22:16Speaker 3: He's valuable. The question is the calculus on the likelihood
- 22:19Speaker 3: that he's going.
- 22:20Speaker 2: To be on the mount. That's what it's gonna come
- 22:22Speaker 2: down to. And I think the Yankees tax of it
- 22:25Speaker 2: is going to likely overcome that risk bearable. So I
- 22:28Speaker 2: think I'm probably gonna be out of Freed going forward.
- 22:30Speaker 2: I just don't think the risk is worth taking because
- 22:33Speaker 2: folks are gonna see him in the Yankees uniform, think
- 22:35Speaker 2: he's gonna win a ton of games, and ultimately he's
- 22:37Speaker 2: gonna be a guy that doesn't go deep enough. He's
- 22:39Speaker 2: gonna win maybe ten games a season and have great
- 22:43Speaker 2: ratios for you, but he's not gonna be as durable
- 22:46Speaker 2: as you really need.
- 22:47Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I think I'm with you because part of
- 22:50Speaker 1: it is that, like the risk reward just is not
- 22:52Speaker 1: quite there for Freed. Where the reward there is, there's
- 22:57Speaker 1: no double digit nine in the in the upside scenario
- 23:02Speaker 1: for Max Freed, it's always hovered around eight and a
- 23:04Speaker 1: half to nine, And so it's kind of like it
- 23:10Speaker 1: is good ratios, I will give you that, but like
- 23:12Speaker 1: if you're shopping in that Max Freed bin, you can
- 23:17Speaker 1: around that range in the draft, you can usually find
- 23:19Speaker 1: something that is just better bang for your buck with
- 23:22Speaker 1: a little bit more upside, and you can find many
- 23:26Speaker 1: more pictures kind of late on or attack guys who
- 23:30Speaker 1: are younger and have another gear to go where Max
- 23:33Speaker 1: Freed is Max Freed but with a giant, like ticking
- 23:38Speaker 1: time bomb in that arm. So yeah, I think we're
- 23:40Speaker 1: in the same boat there. Okay, let's talk Edwin Diaz.
- 23:44Speaker 1: He's back in the IL now. It was a rough
- 23:47Speaker 1: week where it was very up and down. The velocity
- 23:50Speaker 1: was down it was around like ninety three miles pern hour.
- 23:54Speaker 1: And when I first saw the injury, like there was
- 23:58Speaker 1: a little bit of a lag between when he went
- 23:59Speaker 1: on the I and when we got the news of
- 24:01Speaker 1: the injury. So at that point I thought there were
- 24:03Speaker 1: the Dodgers were probably just putting him back on because
- 24:07Speaker 1: they determined maybe this guy actually just needs a little
- 24:09Speaker 1: more time off from his elbow surgery that he had
- 24:12Speaker 1: and get him back in the IL, get them healthy
- 24:16Speaker 1: and healed up for the playoffs, and Edwin Diaz would
- 24:19Speaker 1: be fine when he came back, and long term, Edwin
- 24:21Speaker 1: Diaz in pretty good shape as well. And now the
- 24:24Speaker 1: report is actually it's a neck inflammation, which that is
- 24:29Speaker 1: another kind of alarm bell that we've talked about here
- 24:32Speaker 1: over the past. It feels like this year it's really
- 24:34Speaker 1: cropped up more than anything else. And what really put
- 24:36Speaker 1: it on the radar for me was the Quinn Priester
- 24:39Speaker 1: just like degradation of his like status backed up because
- 24:43Speaker 1: like it started with a neck injury and like a
- 24:46Speaker 1: then it like went done to the wrist. And we've
- 24:48Speaker 1: seen this now it feels like with a couple of
- 24:50Speaker 1: dudes where the neck injury is actually the precursor to
- 24:53Speaker 1: a pretty major shoulder injury. That's like underlying it because
- 24:56Speaker 1: you've gotten a lot of nerves and a lot of
- 24:58Speaker 1: muscles that are using the same kind of little area
- 25:02Speaker 1: of your body. And so if that is the case,
- 25:06Speaker 1: I do wonder if Edwin Dias his shoulder is kind
- 25:09Speaker 1: of toast and that there's a bigger underlying injury here.
- 25:13Speaker 1: And if that is the case, then there's a lot
- 25:17Speaker 1: more risk I think in this profile going forward, especially
- 25:20Speaker 1: in keeper situations, which I find myself in a couple
- 25:23Speaker 1: of our leagues. So what's your take here on Edwin Didas.
- 25:27Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean my biggest take is why to drop
- 25:29Speaker 2: Tanner Scott, but that's a different issue.
- 25:32Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 25:33Speaker 2: I think the big thing here is it seems like
- 25:37Speaker 2: relievers when they get to that early thirties range and
- 25:41Speaker 2: they experience some type of pretty significant arm, back, shoulder,
- 25:47Speaker 2: neck injury, they really struggle to recover from that, and
- 25:52Speaker 2: not that they can't be useful again, but it's like
- 25:54Speaker 2: the dominant guys that really seem to drop off and
- 25:57Speaker 2: struggle to recover and remain healthy because these are not
- 26:01Speaker 2: guys that have been built up.
- 26:02Speaker 3: They don't have.
- 26:03Speaker 2: That really heavy workload that they've had to sustain over
- 26:08Speaker 2: their career. They're coming in high octane, high effort, and
- 26:12Speaker 2: once you start to get a chink of that armor,
- 26:14Speaker 2: it's it's hard to maintain. We've seen it with like
- 26:17Speaker 2: the Devin Williams, Ryan Helsley's guys like that that it's
- 26:21Speaker 2: not hard. It's not easy to come back and be
- 26:24Speaker 2: as effective. Do I think Edwin Diaz is done for
- 26:26Speaker 2: his career? No, I just think the Edwin Diaz of
- 26:29Speaker 2: like the one and a half eras in the like
- 26:31Speaker 2: seventeen k It's not really seventeen, but you get the point.
- 26:35Speaker 2: The high strike out rates, I think that might be
- 26:37Speaker 2: a thing in the past. And you know, the Dodgers again,
- 26:42Speaker 2: this is kind of like Max Freed. I think are
- 26:43Speaker 2: trying to absolutely get this guy as healthy as they
- 26:45Speaker 2: can to have him for the playoff run. But I
- 26:48Speaker 2: don't have a whole lot of faith in him right now.
- 26:50Speaker 2: And it's given me, like I said, the kind of
- 26:53Speaker 2: the vibes of the Devin Williams type of scenario where
- 26:56Speaker 2: you just he's kind of lost it again.
- 26:57Speaker 3: Devin Williams is.
- 26:59Speaker 2: Heard again right now, and uh, it's gonna it's gonna
- 27:03Speaker 2: continue to be a valuable closer, but it's just not
- 27:06Speaker 2: the upper upper echelon that that you paid for. And
- 27:08Speaker 2: so I think Diaz is still gonna be a valuable closer.
- 27:12Speaker 3: Uh next year.
- 27:13Speaker 2: I'm a little concerned with this year, and I gotta
- 27:15Speaker 2: knock him down maybe a tier or two in the
- 27:18Speaker 2: in the rankings.
- 27:19Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, it's gonna be I'm not looking forward to
- 27:22Speaker 1: drafting closers and saves already. Kids, it's gonna be awful.
- 27:25Speaker 1: Where like you can see the trend lines where you know,
- 27:29Speaker 1: these old closers have been brutal from a fantasy value perspective,
- 27:33Speaker 1: But like, what else are you gonna do? You're gonna
- 27:36Speaker 1: you know, like you gotta try and hope that you
- 27:38Speaker 1: can find Brian Baker. Like that's it's a total total
- 27:43Speaker 1: game of roulette. It's nuts.
- 27:44Speaker 2: Yeah, it's the best thing you can do, is what
- 27:47Speaker 2: I kind of do, is like try to get as
- 27:49Speaker 2: many as you can and then figure out where you
- 27:50Speaker 2: go and then and then hope for the best. Like
- 27:53Speaker 2: it's just just a dangerous game because the last thing
- 27:56Speaker 2: you're gonna do is just be chasing it constantly. But
- 27:59Speaker 2: the days are gone of basically outside like a Mason
- 28:02Speaker 2: Miller right now, of saying get one solid guy and
- 28:05Speaker 2: then piece of something together like that, that's not a
- 28:09Speaker 2: thing anymore.
- 28:10Speaker 1: Yeah, I think that's where I'm at. Where I think
- 28:13Speaker 1: I want maybe like one in the second tier and
- 28:17Speaker 1: then a couple of others and then I don't mind
- 28:19Speaker 1: chasing it from there, because, like I think, you have
- 28:23Speaker 1: to to be able like that. That's the only strategy
- 28:26Speaker 1: kind of forward is to set aside some of your
- 28:30Speaker 1: fab budget to light on fire towards trying to find saves.
- 28:34Speaker 1: But it's churned so much and that's so spread out
- 28:37Speaker 1: nowadays in terms of finding saves that I think that's
- 28:41Speaker 1: what you have to plan for. Okay, let's get to
- 28:45Speaker 1: our next injury. It is Colorado Rockies catcher Hunter Goodman
- 28:49Speaker 1: going down with a stream's shoulder. They did backdate this
- 28:53Speaker 1: injury to August fifteenth, and it sounds like he's only
- 28:57Speaker 1: going to be out the minimum is what the Rockies
- 28:59Speaker 1: are saying, for ten days, which I mean I almost
- 29:04Speaker 1: want them to keep him out longer personally, because like
- 29:07Speaker 1: they've played Hunter Goodman a ton over the past couple
- 29:11Speaker 1: of years, and certainly they've been doing it by getting
- 29:14Speaker 1: more time for him at DH and finding different ways
- 29:19Speaker 1: to get him off his feet and out of the crouch.
- 29:21Speaker 1: But last year played one hundred and four games a catcher,
- 29:26Speaker 1: this year seventy eight games a catcher. And you're also
- 29:31Speaker 1: just looking at a profile where this is exactly I
- 29:35Speaker 1: think what you could have expected from Hunter Goodman if
- 29:40Speaker 1: you thought that last year was real from him, where
- 29:43Speaker 1: it's thirty four homers, a two fifty one average, with
- 29:46Speaker 1: a five to forty one slug with a thirty three
- 29:48Speaker 1: percent k rate. It is a banana's home run per
- 29:53Speaker 1: fly ball right here for Hunter Goodman on the season
- 29:56Speaker 1: twenty seven point nine percent. I mean, honestly, if you
- 29:59Speaker 1: just backed that up to where he he was traditionally
- 30:01Speaker 1: in terms of hovering just underneath twenty percent, you can
- 30:06Speaker 1: almost just copy and paste last year with a little
- 30:08Speaker 1: bit of a lower batting average. So I think I'm
- 30:12Speaker 1: I'm in on the Hunter Goodman experience. But my caveat
- 30:15Speaker 1: here is like, look at some of these rundown catchers
- 30:18Speaker 1: that have happened over the past couple of years. Look
- 30:19Speaker 1: at cal Raleigh and how his body broke down on him.
- 30:24Speaker 1: You can be that's like I said, I want the
- 30:27Speaker 1: Rockies to handle Goodman well down the stretch because if not,
- 30:31Speaker 1: then you do run the risk of really running him
- 30:33Speaker 1: into the ground and wrecking it. But until that happens,
- 30:36Speaker 1: I think he's a two to fifty bat with thirty
- 30:38Speaker 1: five homers every year. What's your take on Hunter Goodman
- 30:41Speaker 1: because we haven't talked about him much.
- 30:43Speaker 2: Yeah, well, I'm pretty sure in the preseason I sold
- 30:46Speaker 2: heavily on Hunter Goodman, and I will own that I
- 30:49Speaker 2: was wrong, and I'm going to also double down and
- 30:51Speaker 2: say I would sell him again. Like I This is
- 30:55Speaker 2: for a number of reasons. The luck that you're talking about.
- 30:57Speaker 2: He's not a forty homer bat. He's not a fifty
- 30:59Speaker 2: homer bat. People are gonna believe he could be. He's
- 31:02Speaker 2: in that Colorado air. All those things go to it.
- 31:06Speaker 3: He is overperforming.
- 31:07Speaker 2: His batting average is expected averages like two thirty. To
- 31:11Speaker 2: your point, he should probably have twenty five homers right
- 31:13Speaker 2: now with some of that luck. And he has a
- 31:17Speaker 2: terrible play discipline, dreadful.
- 31:21Speaker 3: And we just talked about this. I think last week.
- 31:23Speaker 2: Of these kind of guys that make loud contract contact,
- 31:28Speaker 2: they swing fast when it gets going, and it's going well,
- 31:33Speaker 2: it's amazing, but as soon as something like changes, like
- 31:38Speaker 2: somebody figures out what's going on where they're just a
- 31:40Speaker 2: off of their timing, it is ice cold for a
- 31:43Speaker 2: long time. This is exactly what Brent Rooker was this year,
- 31:47Speaker 2: exact same type of profile, and he was just a
- 31:50Speaker 2: little off and the thing was just the floor fell out.
- 31:53Speaker 2: And to me, Goodman's ticking time bomb. And you can
- 31:58Speaker 2: sell him right now as one of the top two
- 32:01Speaker 2: or three catchers in the league and give a nice
- 32:04Speaker 2: handsome return, and I would take that all day. I
- 32:07Speaker 2: see him on a completely different echelon than some way
- 32:10Speaker 2: like a Drake Baldwin, who I think has a much
- 32:13Speaker 2: better rounded profile, is not gonna have the same homers,
- 32:16Speaker 2: but is going to be a much better all around
- 32:18Speaker 2: player and I think more sustainable than what Goodman is.
- 32:21Speaker 3: So I'm scared about Goodman.
- 32:22Speaker 2: To your point, I think they should just be easy
- 32:24Speaker 2: on him because he for who they are, he's probably
- 32:29Speaker 2: their best player. But I from a fantasy perspective, I'm
- 32:33Speaker 2: I'm I'm selling this one, or at least not buying
- 32:37Speaker 2: it at the draft table.
- 32:38Speaker 1: Okay, yeah, so it sounds like I'm a little bit
- 32:41Speaker 1: higher on him than you. But I do think that
- 32:45Speaker 1: like it will collapse quickly on him, So that is.
- 32:47Speaker 2: Something to keep in mind. I might be wrong again
- 32:49Speaker 2: next year, but I'm gonna be right one of these years.
- 32:50Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, where the bottom will fall out very rapidly.
- 32:54Speaker 1: I think he's probably got another year in him where
- 32:57Speaker 1: it works, and you know, maybe two, but you know
- 32:59Speaker 1: one that athleticism ticks down a little bit. That's what
- 33:02Speaker 1: he's running on right now is athleticism to be able
- 33:05Speaker 1: to sustain the swing happy ways. But yeah, that is
- 33:10Speaker 1: a good warning. That's a high risk profile. Okay, next
- 33:12Speaker 1: injury we got is a season ender. Actually, Tyler Sadistrum
- 33:16Speaker 1: went on the IL with a hip issue and then
- 33:20Speaker 1: underwent surgery for that. I believe just today. Oh no,
- 33:24Speaker 1: it was on Friday that he underwent hip surgery, but
- 33:27Speaker 1: they finally ruled him out for my bad. This upcoming
- 33:32Speaker 1: Friday is when he's happening and having it. Just in
- 33:34Speaker 1: case you want to order flowers for Tyler Sadistrom and
- 33:36Speaker 1: send it to him in the hospital when he has
- 33:38Speaker 1: the surgery. But a nice little season for Saiderstrom. Honestly,
- 33:42Speaker 1: they're a pretty much copy and paste of last year.
- 33:45Speaker 1: It was nineteen homers fifty six RBI with a two
- 33:49Speaker 1: forty five three thirty eight four seventy two slash chinal
- 33:53Speaker 1: one twenty two WRC plus. On the season over one
- 33:56Speaker 1: hundred and nine games, it was a one to twenty
- 33:58Speaker 1: five WRC plus. Last year, everything on the hood looked
- 34:02Speaker 1: pretty much the same as last year. He will be
- 34:06Speaker 1: turning twenty five only in November. This is a guy
- 34:11Speaker 1: who I think that the buying window is starting to
- 34:13Speaker 1: open because I think people will see this hip injury.
- 34:15Speaker 1: They'll see that he didn't crack twenty homers, They'll see
- 34:18Speaker 1: that he didn't crack a two fifty batting average, but
- 34:20Speaker 1: the babbit was kind of low and everything should be
- 34:24Speaker 1: right back for him to be like a two sixty
- 34:27Speaker 1: two seventy hitter with twenty five to thirty bombs next
- 34:30Speaker 1: year over a full season. Are you there with me?
- 34:33Speaker 2: I'm there with you. I think people forget how young
- 34:35Speaker 2: he is. He's still twenty four years old. Like if
- 34:39Speaker 2: you would have asked me how to say he's probably
- 34:40Speaker 2: twenty seven or twenty eight, he's still only twenty four
- 34:42Speaker 2: years old. And this is the kind of guy that
- 34:45Speaker 2: I'm especially I'm going to say dynasty type leagues. I
- 34:49Speaker 2: am buying athletics players before they get to Vegas, and
- 34:52Speaker 2: I think this is the kind of guy that is
- 34:54Speaker 2: going to, you know, hit his age twenty sixth season
- 34:56Speaker 2: in Las Vegas and that nice air where the ball
- 34:59Speaker 2: loves to fly, and he's gonna put up a monster
- 35:01Speaker 2: type of year. And it's just just staying healthy is
- 35:05Speaker 2: what he needs to do. And there's he's just solid
- 35:09Speaker 2: across the board. He gives you a few bags, he
- 35:11Speaker 2: hits for an okay average, he has good power, he
- 35:14Speaker 2: plates the runs. Like I really like this profile, and
- 35:17Speaker 2: I think he's undervalued when he could probably perform as
- 35:19Speaker 2: a as a two or three outfielder, and people probably
- 35:22Speaker 2: view him as like a low three, high four at
- 35:24Speaker 2: this point.
- 35:25Speaker 3: So I like him. I'm right there with you.
- 35:27Speaker 1: Yeah and yeah, And I think even with those stats,
- 35:30Speaker 1: I riled off, like, there's still ceiling in Tyler Suderstraz.
- 35:34Speaker 1: So that's the other factor, Like there could still be
- 35:38Speaker 1: like a forty to forty five homer season in that
- 35:40Speaker 1: bat in the environments that he plays in. So yeah,
- 35:44Speaker 1: I think he's like a He's like a Cody Bellinger
- 35:47Speaker 1: type player without the steals honestly at the end of
- 35:49Speaker 1: the day. So you can kind of take that for
- 35:52Speaker 1: what it's worth, because it can pop pretty big when
- 35:55Speaker 1: it when it's all running right. Next injury, Davis Martin,
- 35:58Speaker 1: picture of the Chicago White Sox, is going on the
- 36:02Speaker 1: il with blisters that he's been battling, And this is
- 36:07Speaker 1: mostly a question of like, was first half Davis Martin
- 36:10Speaker 1: all a mirage?
- 36:11Speaker 3: Like was it?
- 36:13Speaker 1: Is it something that we'll have to like tell people
- 36:16Speaker 1: in the future and they'll be like, no, way, that
- 36:18Speaker 1: was not with what Davis Martin was. But if you recall,
- 36:21Speaker 1: in that first half before the All Star Break, it
- 36:23Speaker 1: was a three forty one ERA in one hundred and
- 36:26Speaker 1: third innings. The k rate was solid. He looked like
- 36:32Speaker 1: a bulldog of a pitcher leading the White Sox to
- 36:36Speaker 1: the top of that division. Since the All Star Break,
- 36:39Speaker 1: it's been a totally different story. Eight oh three ERA
- 36:42Speaker 1: over twenty four and two thirds. Recently got ejected from
- 36:45Speaker 1: his last outing because with the blisters, he couldn't grip
- 36:49Speaker 1: it right and a couple of balls went straight at
- 36:51Speaker 1: sALS towards head and he got tossed right from the game.
- 36:55Speaker 1: Sounds like this is something he's been dealing with, so
- 36:58Speaker 1: it gives us a little bit of store to why
- 37:00Speaker 1: things have really unraveled on Davis Martin. But also a
- 37:04Speaker 1: guy who is a little bit of like a kitchen
- 37:08Speaker 1: sink sort of pitcher where it's a six pitch mix
- 37:12Speaker 1: but they're all a little bit below average across the board,
- 37:15Speaker 1: but they play up because of the just the mix
- 37:18Speaker 1: and match there. What's your take on Davis Martin? Is
- 37:20Speaker 1: he somebody that you trust at all going forward or
- 37:23Speaker 1: is he kind of in that bin of Hey, I'll
- 37:25Speaker 1: stream him when he's hot, but it's not somebody that
- 37:28Speaker 1: I'm going to be walking out of any drafts with.
- 37:30Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, I'll take the ladder on this one.
- 37:33Speaker 2: He was a guy even when he was pitching well,
- 37:35Speaker 2: I was really not too interested in It just comes down.
- 37:37Speaker 3: To what you said.
- 37:38Speaker 2: The overall stuff doesn't do it for me. It doesn't
- 37:42Speaker 2: blow you away. He's a lower velocity guy. He kind
- 37:45Speaker 2: of has to mix and match to make things hit.
- 37:49Speaker 2: And even when he was pitching well, like, there were
- 37:52Speaker 2: warning signs like his hard hit rate the first portion
- 37:57Speaker 2: of season when he was good was almost forty five
- 37:59Speaker 2: percent that's that's not good. Max ev was one seventeen
- 38:04Speaker 2: launch angle is right where it needs to be for Homers.
- 38:07Speaker 2: Somehow things were not being barreled up. That's why I don't,
- 38:10Speaker 2: you know, think those things don't won't really match up
- 38:12Speaker 2: for me. And you know, he also the stuff's just
- 38:17Speaker 2: not as overpowering as it is it you know, needs
- 38:20Speaker 2: to be to be successful. So I'm not terribly surprised
- 38:24Speaker 2: that things have kind of drifted for him as teams
- 38:27Speaker 2: have had a chance to adjust here. So yeah, I'm
- 38:31Speaker 2: probably gonna stick on the sideline with Davis Martin. I
- 38:33Speaker 2: just don't see kind of the upside it's And this
- 38:36Speaker 2: isn't a profile that's just real with a ton of
- 38:38Speaker 2: great luck like.
- 38:38Speaker 3: He he.
- 38:40Speaker 2: Made his own luck to degree, But I just don't
- 38:43Speaker 2: think it's a really sustainable profile when you have to
- 38:46Speaker 2: try to mix and match all your your pitches. I mean,
- 38:49Speaker 2: this is a guy that throws, you know, six pitches
- 38:51Speaker 2: more than ten percent of the time, Like he is
- 38:53Speaker 2: literally trying to mix and match everything. And uh, it's
- 38:57Speaker 2: not the kind of stuff that is gonna be anybody away.
- 39:02Speaker 1: Yeah, and I'm interested where the blister was at because
- 39:08Speaker 1: one factor here is that like before the All Star break,
- 39:13Speaker 1: he was using his sinker a little bit less, he
- 39:16Speaker 1: was using his slider a little bit more, using his
- 39:19Speaker 1: curveball a little bit less. It was mostly just like, yeah,
- 39:23Speaker 1: the slider well, and the change up usage backed up
- 39:26Speaker 1: on him and he became actually a little bit more
- 39:31Speaker 1: predictable because what happened is he brought that slider usage
- 39:34Speaker 1: below ten percent as opposed to before he had six
- 39:37Speaker 1: pitches above ten percent apiece, and then I think teams
- 39:42Speaker 1: started being able to sit on the fastball and the
- 39:44Speaker 1: sinker a little bit more, and they were degrading with
- 39:46Speaker 1: the blister. So I don't think he's as bad as
- 39:49Speaker 1: he is he showed with the past stretch, but he's
- 39:52Speaker 1: certainly not as good as the previous stretch. And it's
- 39:56Speaker 1: kind of a situation where, honestly, like you kind of
- 40:00Speaker 1: default a bit towards like what his career stats are.
- 40:04Speaker 1: We're actually his era now matches his career era of
- 40:07Speaker 1: four to thirty two, which he also put up in
- 40:09Speaker 1: twenty twenty four. But that does tell you like a
- 40:12Speaker 1: guy with a four thirty two era is not a
- 40:15Speaker 1: guy that's like a pushing a five era because like
- 40:17Speaker 1: what's happening is he's piecing together enough useful starts where yeah,
- 40:23Speaker 1: I think in like twelve and fifteen teamers, he's got
- 40:26Speaker 1: a role on your team in fantasy, but not somebody
- 40:29Speaker 1: that you're using every time out. So something to keep
- 40:32Speaker 1: in mind with Davis Martin. And also you're just taking
- 40:35Speaker 1: advantage of, like throwing against Detroit in Detroit, throwing him
- 40:38Speaker 1: against Cleveland at home, throwing him against the Twins at home,
- 40:42Speaker 1: So like that's what you're doing, is just streaming Davis
- 40:45Speaker 1: Martin against the worst offenses out there. Okay, next injury
- 40:49Speaker 1: we've got is in Chicago. Still Dansby Swanson's hitting the
- 40:53Speaker 1: IL with an oblique injury, and this looks like it
- 40:57Speaker 1: could be on the brink of being season ending because
- 41:03Speaker 1: they said I believe it's a Grade two, which that
- 41:06Speaker 1: means it probably is season ending because that's usually like
- 41:08Speaker 1: a six to eight, or they're still giving him a
- 41:13Speaker 1: chance to come back. But especially given that they've got
- 41:16Speaker 1: Pedro Ramirez there to take over shortstop, I don't see
- 41:19Speaker 1: well Pedro Meers steps over a second, Horner goes over shortstop,
- 41:23Speaker 1: that like there's no reason for the Cubs to rush
- 41:26Speaker 1: back Dansby Swanson and try to wreck his chances of
- 41:30Speaker 1: getting into the playoffs. That is the case. What a
- 41:33Speaker 1: strange season to sixteen batting average but eighteen homers seventeen
- 41:36Speaker 1: stone bases. It felt like all eighteen of those homers
- 41:40Speaker 1: came in about three days, which honestly, I don't think
- 41:43Speaker 1: I'm exaggering terribly much. I think most of them did.
- 41:46Speaker 1: He will be turning thirty three in February. Is this maybe? Also? Like,
- 41:52Speaker 1: is this the end for Dansby Swanson? Like was it
- 41:55Speaker 1: that bad? Or was the glove enough to save him
- 41:58Speaker 1: and stave off Pedro Rami is going into twenty twenty seven? Yeah,
- 42:03Speaker 1: I mean I.
- 42:03Speaker 3: Think I think the glove is enough.
- 42:06Speaker 2: I also think the contract plays a pretty big fact
- 42:09Speaker 2: of that too, when you're paying to twenty five million
- 42:11Speaker 2: a year, and I don't want to under cut Dancey
- 42:15Speaker 2: Swanson because he's still a valuable player. I mean, he's
- 42:18Speaker 2: still a guy that's going fifteen fifteen, he's in three
- 42:20Speaker 2: seasons rona fifteen fifteen. You know, the two sixteen bent
- 42:24Speaker 2: average is a disappointment this year, but also the beabi
- 42:27Speaker 2: was was down pretty pretty significantly against his career average
- 42:30Speaker 2: like it's it's the lowest by almost fifty points of
- 42:33Speaker 2: his career, so you expect some bounce back. The play
- 42:36Speaker 2: discipline was held pretty solid, like dance by Swanson is
- 42:39Speaker 2: never going to be the number one overall pick that
- 42:43Speaker 2: you know that we wanted to be when he's coming
- 42:45Speaker 2: out of Vanderbilt. But he's still an incredibly useful player,
- 42:49Speaker 2: and I think the Cubs are going to keep playing him,
- 42:51Speaker 2: and I think he's going to keep delivering in that
- 42:54Speaker 2: you hope for more, but he's surprisingly better than you
- 42:56Speaker 2: think he is kind of category, so I have no
- 43:00Speaker 2: problem with him. I think he's out the rest of
- 43:01Speaker 2: the season. You're absolutely right there. The Cubs are hoping
- 43:05Speaker 2: they make the playoffs and they get Swanson back for
- 43:07Speaker 2: a run of that. But from a fantasy perspective, he's
- 43:10Speaker 2: middle and field fodder for for next year.
- 43:14Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, And I don't know what they're gonna do
- 43:16Speaker 1: with Ramirez because second, short and third base are lockdown.
- 43:20Speaker 1: So like that's sad for Ramirez owners out there because
- 43:26Speaker 1: like he's good and like honestly he's he's probably honestly
- 43:34Speaker 1: the Nico Horner contract is what throws this all out
- 43:36Speaker 1: of whack like that is the gonna be I think
- 43:39Speaker 1: one of the worst contracts when it all boils down
- 43:41Speaker 1: to it if Nico Horner, like he lives on so
- 43:44Speaker 1: much contact and once the that age is out, like, yikes.
- 43:48Speaker 1: So you're praying, I guess for a Pedro Ramirez trade
- 43:53Speaker 1: in the off season if you have him. But I
- 43:55Speaker 1: don't see the cub shipping him out because he's a
- 43:57Speaker 1: pretty legit player. So I think they're just waiting to
- 44:01Speaker 1: see who on the infield goes down with injury, and
- 44:03Speaker 1: then if that happens, you're also kind of stalling out
- 44:06Speaker 1: Ramer's's development. So it's it's quite the conundrum. In Chicago.
- 44:10Speaker 1: Let's talk Seattle Mariners injury. Cold Emerson going down with
- 44:14Speaker 1: a wrist injury. He was set to be optioned back
- 44:17Speaker 1: to Triple A Tacoma and then they pulled a reverse
- 44:21Speaker 1: Uno card in Seattle, put him on the IL kept
- 44:24Speaker 1: him in the big leagues. It's been a rough start
- 44:28Speaker 1: to gold Emerson's career. A one ninety two forty six
- 44:32Speaker 1: three thirty five batting out or slash line sixty seven
- 44:36Speaker 1: WRC plus with a thirty four point four percent k
- 44:39Speaker 1: rate did come with eight homers, which is kind of
- 44:42Speaker 1: shocking and maybe unnecessary. We're going to strike out thirty
- 44:46Speaker 1: four percent of the time there could But now we
- 44:49Speaker 1: have a little bit of like a story as to
- 44:51Speaker 1: maybe why the struggles were there with this left wrist injury.
- 44:55Speaker 1: I was really starting to sour on cold Emmerson with
- 44:59Speaker 1: just the start the career. But the wrist injury isn't
- 45:02Speaker 1: making me perk up a litle bit and say, eh,
- 45:04Speaker 1: maybe there is a little something in there. So what's
- 45:06Speaker 1: your take on cold Emerson, any glimmer of hope, any
- 45:09Speaker 1: silver lining with this list wrist injury for you?
- 45:12Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 45:12Speaker 2: I mean I I've like soured and unsoured on cold
- 45:15Speaker 2: Emerson so many times so far this season. It's kind
- 45:18Speaker 2: of daunting. But I think you forget he just turned
- 45:22Speaker 2: twenty one, and this is a guy that you know,
- 45:25Speaker 2: you kind of joked about the eight homers. He came
- 45:28Speaker 2: up and hit eight homers, and you know, his first
- 45:30Speaker 2: sixty nine games in the BIGS, which is you know,
- 45:33Speaker 2: roughly a twenty homer pace. Yeah, the batting average is
- 45:37Speaker 2: atrocious right now, and he's struggling in a contact but
- 45:40Speaker 2: like he wasn't terribly overmatched. He was still trying to
- 45:43Speaker 2: figure some things out. And he's still a guy that's
- 45:45Speaker 2: just twenty one years old, and they gave him a
- 45:48Speaker 2: big old contract. They believe in him. So, like I,
- 45:52Speaker 2: all these little indicators point to like I still like
- 45:55Speaker 2: cold Emerson long term, Like I like a lot better
- 45:57Speaker 2: like a Carson Williams or something like that, who's had
- 46:00Speaker 2: like five cups of coffee, never figured things out. I think
- 46:03Speaker 2: there's still a lot to like here. And then your point,
- 46:05Speaker 2: you throw in this wrist injury like that he could
- 46:07Speaker 2: have been playing through something. It gives me even more
- 46:10Speaker 2: reason for hope. So I still think there's a lot
- 46:13Speaker 2: of potential here. Maybe there's a bind went on Emerson,
- 46:17Speaker 2: and I think he's going to continue to kind of
- 46:19Speaker 2: grow into a pretty much strong, good player long term.
- 46:23Speaker 2: So I still think there's a lot of hope for
- 46:24Speaker 2: cold Emerson.
- 46:26Speaker 1: All right, Well, yeah, you're even more positive than I was. That. Yeah,
- 46:29Speaker 1: that makes me feel good in the couple of spots
- 46:31Speaker 1: that I've got him. I mean, also keep in mind,
- 46:33Speaker 1: looking like what Cole Young did last year as a
- 46:35Speaker 1: twenty one year old, pretty similar line ady WRC plus
- 46:40Speaker 1: didn't strike out quite as much, but certainly struggled at
- 46:43Speaker 1: the plate. I do think there is a factor where
- 46:46Speaker 1: it's not just the Mariners are a bad development organization
- 46:50Speaker 1: for bats, but you're also layering on that's a difficult,
- 46:54Speaker 1: difficult park to hit in, and it really I think
- 46:56Speaker 1: SAPs player spirits and to the mayor travel the most
- 47:01Speaker 1: miles out of any team being tucked up into the
- 47:03Speaker 1: Northwest corner. That grinds on you. That really is a
- 47:07Speaker 1: long haul of flights back and forth from Seattle that
- 47:10Speaker 1: I think it does take an adjustment period where especially
- 47:14Speaker 1: if yeah, if you look at the Cole Young trajectory
- 47:16Speaker 1: for Colt Emerson, I think you can find a lot
- 47:19Speaker 1: of similarities that you know, can get you believing back
- 47:22Speaker 1: in Emerson that you know, maybe twenty twenty six is
- 47:25Speaker 1: a bit of a wash for you, but I think
- 47:27Speaker 1: it's a bit of an up era long term for Emerson.
- 47:30Speaker 2: Remember he is still younger than the first overall pick
- 47:34Speaker 2: of this year's draft, Rock Chlowski. He's still younger than him.
- 47:39Speaker 2: So just remember there's development curve here and there's there's
- 47:44Speaker 2: a lot of potential.
- 47:46Speaker 1: Okay, next player that we have going down with an
- 47:48Speaker 1: injury is Indy Rodriguez, catcher, slash first baseman, slash outfielder
- 47:53Speaker 1: for the Pittsburgh Pirates going down with that left hip injury.
- 47:57Speaker 1: Pretty similar actually to Tyler Sottish. But there's no word
- 48:01Speaker 1: of like any sort of surgery or anything right now,
- 48:04Speaker 1: but there is a he's going out for a second opinion,
- 48:06Speaker 1: so uh, check back in two days and he's probably
- 48:09Speaker 1: going to be going underneath that surgery. Maybe he's going
- 48:12Speaker 1: to get lined up right behind Tyer sadistrum two for
- 48:14Speaker 1: one deal as I do. Hip surgeries has been a
- 48:18Speaker 1: nice little breakout here for Indie Rodriguez in twenty twenty
- 48:21Speaker 1: six and forty five games two sixty seven, three seventy three,
- 48:25Speaker 1: four sixty seven one two wrist plus seven homers and
- 48:29Speaker 1: six dolen bases. Has been hitting the ball hard a
- 48:33Speaker 1: double digit barrel rate, but it only came in forty
- 48:36Speaker 1: five games. This is dude who has really struggled to
- 48:39Speaker 1: stay on the field. He has dealt with a Tommy
- 48:43Speaker 1: John surgery. He had a hand last duration last year,
- 48:46Speaker 1: the elbow flame backup on him last year. He had
- 48:50Speaker 1: a glut strain earlier this year. Now is going down
- 48:53Speaker 1: with this hip. So I know that you've been in
- 48:56Speaker 1: on Indie Rodriguez too, because I've seen you write about him,
- 48:59Speaker 1: and I've you've been in on auctions for him and
- 49:02Speaker 1: like our Autitio league and stuff. It's been somebody that
- 49:05Speaker 1: I've been really big on because he was a hot
- 49:09Speaker 1: name during like COVID era, like podcasting, and then kind
- 49:13Speaker 1: of like fell to the wayside. But if he can
- 49:15Speaker 1: stay on the field, he's a switch hitting catcher where
- 49:18Speaker 1: there's no catcher to be found in Pittsburgh right now.
- 49:21Speaker 1: Henry Davis is not an impediment to him. Is what's
- 49:25Speaker 1: your long term outlook here on Rodriguez? Do you think
- 49:27Speaker 1: that he can overcome this injury bug to be a
- 49:30Speaker 1: useful enough fantasy player in Dynasty as your catcher?
- 49:34Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean I do think he can.
- 49:35Speaker 2: I mean, yeah, he's he's had a rough go of it,
- 49:39Speaker 2: but he's got a lot of talent and he's this
- 49:42Speaker 2: year he's really kind of turned that around. And for
- 49:47Speaker 2: being in the catcher position, you don't have to have
- 49:49Speaker 2: elite ability at the plate to really make a difference.
- 49:53Speaker 2: And he's the point with the Pirates that they value
- 49:57Speaker 2: that bat so much they're put him in different positions
- 49:59Speaker 2: to keep the bat in the lineup when he is healthy.
- 50:02Speaker 2: So I think you have a legitimate bat here from
- 50:05Speaker 2: a catcher position that could This is like what we
- 50:07Speaker 2: wanted Augustina Ramirez to be coming into the season. It's true,
- 50:14Speaker 2: but with a floor that's not like in the basement.
- 50:18Speaker 2: So I really think that in the Rodriguez is going
- 50:20Speaker 2: to be a absolute sleeper going to next year. I
- 50:22Speaker 2: think people, this is the kind of guy you target
- 50:25Speaker 2: as your second catcher in a two catcher league because
- 50:27Speaker 2: everybody's sleeping on him and you can end up like
- 50:29Speaker 2: this is your Dylan Dingler of next year. And I
- 50:33Speaker 2: mean that's maybe a little aggressive, but I you everything
- 50:35Speaker 2: you look at says that it's absolutely possible for him
- 50:38Speaker 2: to do that because he's picking better pitches, he's making
- 50:41Speaker 2: solid contact, and I don't see really any big holes.
- 50:46Speaker 2: It's just the health which is the question.
- 50:48Speaker 3: And he said.
- 50:52Speaker 2: Pittsburgh has no reason to not have him slav Din
- 50:55Speaker 2: as their starting catcher all season.
- 50:58Speaker 1: Yes, yeah, I think I'm there with you. So he's
- 50:59Speaker 1: gonna be a target of mine as well for twenty
- 51:01Speaker 1: twenty seven drafts for sure. That like catchers also are
- 51:05Speaker 1: so injured all the time, Like unless you're like somebody
- 51:09Speaker 1: who is just absolutely not able to stay on the field,
- 51:13Speaker 1: just like whatsoever, almost like Joey Bart or something. Sometimes
- 51:18Speaker 1: then there's a little bit more question. But yeah, for
- 51:22Speaker 1: if the draft price is right and we don't hype
- 51:24Speaker 1: him up too much in the off season, then yeah,
- 51:25Speaker 1: I'm in on Ruberguez for sure. Next piece of injury
- 51:29Speaker 1: the tug boat two. He's coming baby Matt Wilkinson. Mostly,
- 51:34Speaker 1: I was just calling it out because he's It's gonna
- 51:36Speaker 1: be fun watching this dude pitch. If you're not familiar
- 51:38Speaker 1: with him, find any video of Matt Wilkinson pitching. He
- 51:42Speaker 1: arrived in San Francisco in the Patrick Bailey deal and
- 51:47Speaker 1: has been at Triple A, not performing well. I will
- 51:50Speaker 1: say that although it is a brutal environment in the
- 51:53Speaker 1: PCL for somebody like Matt Wilkinson, who is a crafty
- 51:57Speaker 1: lefty who kind of sits in the mid nineties with
- 51:59Speaker 1: his fastball and just is doesn't overpower you with his
- 52:05Speaker 1: physique because he's six foot one, two fifty and yeah,
- 52:09Speaker 1: he's a nicknamed tugboat for a reason. I think it's
- 52:11Speaker 1: gonna be fun watching him pitch. But I don't have
- 52:13Speaker 1: a whole lot of faith in him being able to
- 52:16Speaker 1: do much beyond like a home streamer against weak teams
- 52:20Speaker 1: and otherwise. You know, honestly, he's maybe like Davis martin Ish.
- 52:25Speaker 1: You know, I don't think this stuff is going to
- 52:27Speaker 1: pop off the page for you, but it will be,
- 52:29Speaker 1: you know, an eight and a half K nine with
- 52:31Speaker 1: a low fours ra and like a one to twenty
- 52:34Speaker 1: whip which doesn't sound like much, but they'll play, of
- 52:37Speaker 1: course in like an NL only league, just to give
- 52:39Speaker 1: you some volume. So am I being too low on
- 52:42Speaker 1: our boy tug boat here, Matt Wickinson? Or are you
- 52:45Speaker 1: in the same boat with me?
- 52:49Speaker 3: I mean I might have been even a slower boat
- 52:52Speaker 3: than you.
- 52:52Speaker 2: I was like, I feel like this might be a
- 52:53Speaker 2: really good middle reliever profile, Like I just I just
- 52:56Speaker 2: don't see it there.
- 52:57Speaker 3: To your point, like he's gonna be fun to watch.
- 52:59Speaker 2: But I just don't know the stuff is good enough.
- 53:01Speaker 2: Really couldn't call him up because he was Rule five eligibles.
- 53:04Speaker 2: They want to see what they have. I think that's
- 53:07Speaker 2: what we're talking about here. I don't see him being
- 53:08Speaker 2: like a long term rotation solution. I could be wrong.
- 53:12Speaker 2: I'm fine if I'm wrong.
- 53:12Speaker 3: With this one.
- 53:13Speaker 2: I think this is a just a journey I don't
- 53:16Speaker 2: need to be on. And I think, like said, I
- 53:19Speaker 2: think he's gonna end up in the bullpit long term.
- 53:21Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, or just be liking that up and down
- 53:24Speaker 1: swing role that the Giants seem to have, like eight
- 53:26Speaker 1: of the dudes. Dude. But yes, like I said, there
- 53:28Speaker 1: will be value in streaming him. It's just gonna be
- 53:32Speaker 1: very very fringy. Okay. Next bit of news we have
- 53:35Speaker 1: is mostly it's getting into the card news a little bit,
- 53:39Speaker 1: because I know you've been experiencing this. We were chatting
- 53:42Speaker 1: about it a little bit before we started recording. M
- 53:44Speaker 1: WIB Trade Rumors did put out a report this week
- 53:48Speaker 1: that Taruaki Sato for the He's a third basement right
- 53:54Speaker 1: now for the Han Sheen Tigers, is the hottest name
- 53:57Speaker 1: over there likely to win the MVP Award. Is has
- 54:02Speaker 1: a two or four WRC plus this year, there after
- 54:04Speaker 1: a one to eighty two last year. Last year pop
- 54:06Speaker 1: forty homers this year is pop twenty eight, one hundred
- 54:09Speaker 1: and six games. The MLB Trade Rumors report said that uh, surprise, surprise,
- 54:15Speaker 1: any team that's good is in Ansato, So he's gonna
- 54:18Speaker 1: be a huge, huge name that's coming over in the offseason.
- 54:23Speaker 1: Certainly is gonna be one of the bigger ones that
- 54:26Speaker 1: we've seen in some time. But I think in terms
- 54:30Speaker 1: of like he's gonna be helped, I think a lot
- 54:33Speaker 1: with Murakami's success because Sato is also left handed, also
- 54:38Speaker 1: looks like he strikes out maybe a little bit too much.
- 54:40Speaker 1: But I don't think there's gonna be quite as many
- 54:43Speaker 1: questions on the power translating here, partly because like Murakami
- 54:46Speaker 1: has shown that, like, hey I did this in MPB,
- 54:50Speaker 1: maybe I had a slight flaw and above ninety five
- 54:52Speaker 1: miliar pitchers or whatever, but what what hitter doesn't And
- 54:57Speaker 1: the Japanese Baseball League is really good your single lot
- 55:00Speaker 1: of spin, you're seeing a lot of really good defense,
- 55:04Speaker 1: and you're really having to be a smart hitter. So
- 55:06Speaker 1: I think the upside here on Sato is going to
- 55:09Speaker 1: be huge. The card market is already moving, but this
- 55:13Speaker 1: is probably is actually a good setup for our main
- 55:17Speaker 1: segment two in terms of pre playoff card stashes, because Sato,
- 55:21Speaker 1: I think you can put in that boat that now
- 55:23Speaker 1: is one of your last times to probably work on
- 55:26Speaker 1: bringing over any cards that we're in the Japanese market
- 55:29Speaker 1: from eBay, mostly from eBay, but you can find it
- 55:32Speaker 1: from other sources, bringing it over and having them ready
- 55:36Speaker 1: for when he signs in the off season in MLB.
- 55:38Speaker 1: So I know you've been in Onsato. We've talked about
- 55:41Speaker 1: it multiple times. I think we're the only ones they've
- 55:43Speaker 1: been using the player tag on RAS ball over the
- 55:46Speaker 1: past year. So what is your kind of insight on
- 55:51Speaker 1: on Sato himself and any kind of like maybe small
- 55:54Speaker 1: kind of soundbites you might want to put in people's
- 55:56Speaker 1: ears that they are looking to bring any of his
- 55:58Speaker 1: cards over from Japan.
- 56:00Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean Sato is very very likely to have
- 56:04Speaker 2: a back to back MVPs after the after this season.
- 56:07Speaker 2: I don't know if he's gonna reach his forty homer
- 56:09Speaker 2: plateau he did last year, but he's gonna be pretty us
- 56:11Speaker 2: starn close uh with a better batting average, with a
- 56:14Speaker 2: better walk rate, better overall profile. And he's also call
- 56:19Speaker 2: one of those players that a lot of the Japanese players,
- 56:21Speaker 2: even Murakami, a kamotos they came over. They the I
- 56:26Speaker 2: won't say the personalities weren't as big. They weren't. They're
- 56:29Speaker 2: they're like they were kind of businesses. Sato's got a
- 56:32Speaker 2: personality he like he always reminds me like Hobby Baias
- 56:36Speaker 2: Like he's he's got a little strut and stuff like
- 56:38Speaker 2: he he will not be intimidated by MLB whatsoever he
- 56:43Speaker 2: slots in. He's probably one of the best hitters that
- 56:46Speaker 2: would be coming over in the last probably five or
- 56:49Speaker 2: six years. And I don't think that's an understatement. I
- 56:52Speaker 2: think he is going to have absolutely no problem translating.
- 56:55Speaker 2: The biggest question is the lockout looming and what happens
- 56:59Speaker 2: with that. Honestly, I think they actually might try to
- 57:01Speaker 2: get him posted before any of the CBA stuff happens,
- 57:05Speaker 2: just to get him a big contract, you know, because
- 57:08Speaker 2: if anything risk of like the Dodgers are gonna be
- 57:10Speaker 2: like that getting salary caps and stuff, they want to
- 57:12Speaker 2: deal with that before anything happens. So from a card perspective,
- 57:18Speaker 2: to be clear, if the true buying window's gone, that's
- 57:21Speaker 2: been gone since like March, because when he came out
- 57:24Speaker 2: of the gates this year doing what he was doing
- 57:26Speaker 2: last year, like his rookie cards were selling like in
- 57:29Speaker 2: the off season for like three to five bucks. They
- 57:33Speaker 2: in March, they went up to like we're talking like
- 57:34Speaker 2: a top Chrome rookie. He's a twenty twenty one MPB
- 57:38Speaker 2: tops Chrome and they jumped from three dollars to the
- 57:43Speaker 2: roughly forty per tops Chrome rookie right now, and some
- 57:48Speaker 2: of his Japanese rookies are right around one hundred dollars mark.
- 57:52Speaker 2: They are hard to find even just the Some of
- 57:56Speaker 2: the base cards are five to ten dollars cards. If
- 57:59Speaker 2: you are chasing them, you really want to go after
- 58:02Speaker 2: the twenty twenty one stuff that's his rookie year. You
- 58:05Speaker 2: want to go after a little bit more of the
- 58:08Speaker 2: unique series, so Genesis out there. You want to go
- 58:11Speaker 2: after BBM first series. Don't go after this is the
- 58:13Speaker 2: second series.
- 58:14Speaker 3: If you can avoid it.
- 58:15Speaker 2: Doesn't as much quality there. But I will also say
- 58:19Speaker 2: this sneaky tip for Japanese cards. They are better quality
- 58:23Speaker 2: than American cards. They grade extremely well and they are
- 58:27Speaker 2: well made. I don't know what it is, but they
- 58:30Speaker 2: generally surface issues. There is probably the one thing for
- 58:33Speaker 2: risk because of the generally you're shipping him overseas, so
- 58:37Speaker 2: you gotta be a little careful there. But overall his
- 58:42Speaker 2: market is very strong and to your point, Murakami being
- 58:46Speaker 2: so successful, and I think this is a better bat
- 58:49Speaker 2: is just going to kind of continue to drive those
- 58:51Speaker 2: prices up, and folks are going to be going heads
- 58:54Speaker 2: over heels and just the trade rumor's market going. Having
- 58:57Speaker 2: this article out there has kicked his market up another
- 58:59Speaker 2: not and people are buying him left and right. And
- 59:03Speaker 2: the one interesting thing with the Japanese players is there
- 59:06Speaker 2: are multiple buying opportunities, multiple selling opportunities, because when they're
- 59:10Speaker 2: in the news and they're doing the great thing in Japan,
- 59:12Speaker 2: everybody wants to have them just in case their team
- 59:14Speaker 2: gets them. He gets posted, a whole new market is
- 59:17Speaker 2: aware of them and wants to have them the case
- 59:19Speaker 2: their team gets them. When you get signed, that team
- 59:21Speaker 2: wants them, and like there are multiple opportunities on like
- 59:25Speaker 2: a prospect getting called up where there's kind of like
- 59:27Speaker 2: that one shot the Joshua Bias two day window that
- 59:30Speaker 2: we kind of had. There's a little bit more sustained here.
- 59:34Speaker 2: And if you're willing to play the game and buy
- 59:36Speaker 2: the cards from Japan and get them shipped over, it's
- 59:39Speaker 2: a long game. It's hard to do, but it can
- 59:42Speaker 2: be worth it. So I think Sato is gonna be
- 59:45Speaker 2: a real fun guy to pay attention to this upcoming
- 59:47Speaker 2: off season.
- 59:49Speaker 1: Yeah, and the trade rumors report says that it's Max Yankees, Dodgers,
- 59:52Speaker 1: Phillies are interested in Sato, but every team is that
- 59:57Speaker 1: he's gonna be. I think he's probably gonna be the
- 59:59Speaker 1: number one bat in free agency because he doesn't turn
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: twenty eight till March. Like we've said, it's legit. He
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: looks great and I think he's a plug and play
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: thirty to thirty five homer third baseman going into next
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: year with I mean, honestly, it's going to be very
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: Murror comy like, but maybe fewer strikeouts and maybe a
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: tick less power so like otherwise, that's I think you're
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: looking at a similar profile. And any team that wants
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: a big bat is going to be in on him.
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: So certainly the big guys, the biggest teams will be there,
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: but any team that wants to take that step forward
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: will also be there too. He will also he should
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: feature in one of the new releases that we added
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: to the Baseball card release calendar, where it does feel
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: a little a bit of a This reminds me a
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: little bit of like the mid nineties, when there is
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: just so many like special Michael Jordan sets, we're starting
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: to get to that kind of phase. Was Shoho Tani,
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: I mean we've been through because like the fifty to
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: fifty season, they had that specific fifty to fifty season set.
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: But now they've added a twenty twenty six Chrome Team
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: Japan Samurai Collection set that's going to be coming out
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: on August twenty sixth. It's going to be very heavily
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: featuring Otani and Yamamoto, but Sato will be in there
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: along with Murakami and some of the other big names
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: that you know about, so that's another kind of spot
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: to look for cards of his. We also had Tops
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: Chrome Sapphire twenty twenty six come on the schedule. Panini
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: Prism we talked about last week, but get it got
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: booted down the schedule to early September, which means they'll
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: probably be booted again to November and then January, so
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: that's what Panini Prism kind of does. Bowman Chrome is
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: setting up for September ninth, that's the next big one,
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: and we had to Tops Cosmic Chrome go on the
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: TBD schedules, so that means the pre order should be
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: hitting tops Dot com soon where you will certainly not
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: get any of it because you'll be beat by all
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: the bots, I guarantee you. So absolutely some exciting stuff
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: coming up. Between those cards and Soto coming over, we're
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: going to take a small break and then we're going
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: to return on the other side to talk about players
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: where we might be stashing cards in advance of the playoffs.
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: All right, welcome back, everybody. Our main subject is going
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: to be talking about cards and players that you can
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: be stashing away in advance of the playoffs. Because if
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: you've been listening to us over the years, one of
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: the kind of pinnacles of baseball cards sales happens during
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: the playoffs that everybody's watching the same games, everybody's focused
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: on the same games, especially like you also have a
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: little bit of like the craziness of football and basketball
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: collecting kicking off that, like people are just ravenous for sports.
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: Cards and big games can really launch markets very quickly.
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: We've seen it with Tommy Edmund, we saw it last
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: year a Cam Schlitler, And it's just a matter of
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: trying to pick the right person who's gonna pop every year.
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: So we already gave you some background before the break
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: on Sato, who you should obviously be investing in if
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: you can. But after that, you know, we're not gonna
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: be covering show Heyo, TONI, We're not gonna be covering
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: Aaron Judge. Those are the guys at the tippy tops
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: of the markets right now, and guys who just your
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: bang for your buck, your ROI on your cards is
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: just not going to be as great. So we're gonna
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: go into some deeper layers of guys who we might
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: be targeting because we see good opportunities lining up for them,
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: we see good talent, and they're still flying underneath the radar.
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: I think for a broader sports culture perspective where you know,
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: these names are not guys that everybody knows out there
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: when you talk about just baseball in general, but they
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: could certainly get on that stage via the playoffs. Like
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: I said, we saw it just last year with Cam Schlitzler.
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: Treya Savage was in that boat too. It can happen
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: very quickly, so Brew, I mean, now is certainly the
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: time for starting to put a way of these playoff cards.
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: What other maybe preparations are you doing or do you
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: always have ready for when you want to be selling
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: cards and making sure that you're maximizing your value, because
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: we saw a good example of it this weekend. But
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: josh Bias, Joshua bias, where honestly I was a little
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: bit too far in the back end of the window.
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: I might not get some of mine in the sales
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: range that I was hoping to, cause these things can
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: move fast. So what kind of prep do you have
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: on hand ready to go in preparation for the playoff?
- 1:04:45Speaker 2: Yeah, for me, it's first of all, you're at your standard,
- 1:04:48Speaker 2: be ready to list something tomorrow or tonight or whatever
- 1:04:52Speaker 2: it may be. Like, you have to be willing to
- 1:04:55Speaker 2: be thinking that you're going to sell the card. And two,
- 1:04:59Speaker 2: you need to know what you have.
- 1:05:00Speaker 3: I think that's the biggest things.
- 1:05:01Speaker 2: A lot of these guys are that are gonna pop
- 1:05:04Speaker 2: and their markets are gonna go crazy. Are not gonna
- 1:05:06Speaker 2: be the biggest names right now. They're not gonna be
- 1:05:08Speaker 2: the biggest stars, and you probably don't realize that you
- 1:05:12Speaker 2: have them. You've got a numbered rookie, you've got an
- 1:05:15Speaker 2: auto just sitting around and you just kind of threw
- 1:05:17Speaker 2: it in the dollar box, the five dollar box, whatever
- 1:05:19Speaker 2: it may be, and you need to be aware that
- 1:05:23Speaker 2: these are the kind of guys that could really really
- 1:05:25Speaker 2: have their market explode, and you need to know if
- 1:05:26Speaker 2: you have them is the key, key point, because you know,
- 1:05:30Speaker 2: good example will use Tommy Edmond.
- 1:05:32Speaker 3: I think you and I talked about this.
- 1:05:33Speaker 2: When he you know, won the the you know, the
- 1:05:36Speaker 2: the ALCS MVP and he just went crazy. Well knowing
- 1:05:41Speaker 2: that you know, IRA Cardinals fans, I knew I had
- 1:05:44Speaker 2: a huge collection of Tommy Edmond and so when that happened,
- 1:05:47Speaker 2: you were able to go outlook and go, hey, he
- 1:05:49Speaker 2: doesn't have to try of cards and his cards are
- 1:05:52Speaker 2: going crazy. You need to know do you have them,
- 1:05:55Speaker 2: and if so, get them on the market. You have
- 1:05:57Speaker 2: to be able to do it fast. And that's gonna
- 1:06:00Speaker 2: be a probably a few days that you can capitalize
- 1:06:03Speaker 2: on the market, and then that's going to slowly come
- 1:06:05Speaker 2: back down and and move on. And people, you know,
- 1:06:08Speaker 2: especially if they win the World Series or something like that,
- 1:06:10Speaker 2: they'll maintain some value. But these are guys that to
- 1:06:15Speaker 2: your point, they're not there in judges not to show
- 1:06:16Speaker 2: how they're not. They're not the All stars, They're they're
- 1:06:19Speaker 2: the guys that are the next tier down that could
- 1:06:22Speaker 2: make the name for themselves in the playoffs and all
- 1:06:25Speaker 2: of a sudden beyond national spotlights doing some crazy things.
- 1:06:29Speaker 3: So you gotta be ready. You gotta know if you
- 1:06:31Speaker 3: have them.
- 1:06:32Speaker 2: And I would say if you're hitting shows or anything
- 1:06:34Speaker 2: like that before you're getting out there. These are the
- 1:06:36Speaker 2: kind of guys I'm picking up from the dollar boxes
- 1:06:39Speaker 2: or you know, cheap autos things like that, because we're
- 1:06:42Speaker 2: not talking big numbers on these guys. We're not talking
- 1:06:45Speaker 2: these are expensive cards. But going back to Edmond's example,
- 1:06:49Speaker 2: his rookie autos, I think we're twenty bucks before his
- 1:06:53Speaker 2: Dodgers heroics, they were one hundred and fifty a week later.
- 1:06:58Speaker 2: That's that's what they That's that's how much it changed.
- 1:07:01Speaker 2: And so it's a low entry cost. And if you're wrong,
- 1:07:04Speaker 2: oh well, it'll come back around. But if you're right,
- 1:07:09Speaker 2: or you just happen to have some of them, you
- 1:07:10Speaker 2: can capitalize.
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: Yeah. And I think on top of it too, if
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: any of these guys are kind of your like PC
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: dudes that you've been slowly building, it's also maybe like
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: a warning that sometimes you know, when you're in that situation,
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: you're also trying to time the market right, so that
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: you can put together your collection for the best value
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: you can. And so if these guys does run into
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: playoff for roics and you want their cards and you
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: want to keep them in your collection, you might want
- 1:07:38Speaker 1: to start stashing them away now when they're a little
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: bit more affordable out there. So I think what we're
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: going to do for each of these players is talk
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: about why we like them, what kind of is their
- 1:07:51Speaker 1: breakout kind of abilities, and what we could see out
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: of them, and then on top of it, we'll talk
- 1:07:59Speaker 1: a little bit about their card market. If you go
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: into the show notes and click into them, you'll see
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: actually you also listed the main rookie cards for all
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: of these these players too, so you have a pretty
- 1:08:09Speaker 1: easy reference guy to just punch it into eBay or
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: whereverhere else to be able to find the cards and
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: snatch up whatever you want, or make a list to
- 1:08:17Speaker 1: go to a show with. So you've got a list
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: of their first and their rookie cards, and some mottos,
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: and we've got some i would say archetypes that we're
- 1:08:26Speaker 1: looking at, because that's the other thing that you can
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: do is that we'll give you the names that we like.
- 1:08:31Speaker 1: But if you kind of use these archetypes that we're
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: talking about, copy of them over you might be able
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: to uncover some names that we're we haven't been looking at.
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: And on top of it, it can use you you
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: can use in the future. So let's just dive right
- 1:08:45Speaker 1: into it. We're gonna start with I think this is
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: probably like the number one spot to be able to
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: make sure that you're capitalizing the market quickly. It's just
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: break out arms. You know, a guy who's younger, a
- 1:08:58Speaker 1: little bit underneath the radar, usually within the first couple
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: of years, has a couple of great outings and is
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: immediately on the forefront of everybody's mouths in terms of
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: what they're talking about going on in the MLB playoffs.
- 1:09:12Speaker 1: We've got three names right here, Peyton Toley, Ian Seymour,
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: and Logan Henderson. Let's focus on Peyton Toty first because
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: he's probably the one that's starting to maybe getting close
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: to graduating out of this discussion, mostly because, like I
- 1:09:26Speaker 1: don't know if you've watched any Peyton totally starts recently,
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: but this dude is on another level. Since the All
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: Star break A two sixty one era with forty one
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: k's in thirty one innings, it's an eleven point nine
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: K nine, a forty five and a half percent ground
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: ball rate when that's usually been below forty percent. That
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: also includes a trip to Sacramento and a trip to
- 1:09:50Speaker 1: LA against the Dodgers. In those five starts, he's looked incredible.
- 1:09:55Speaker 1: I wrote about him at BP this week, and he's
- 1:09:58Speaker 1: got a pretty nice little market where he's, like I said,
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: a little bit more expensive compared to some of the
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: other guys that we're going to talk about, but there's
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: certainly still room for growth when you're also adding in
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: the Boston Red Sox factor here. As you know, if
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: the Red Sox going a deep run on the back
- 1:10:16Speaker 1: of Peyton Toley, the market's gonna go bananas. So what
- 1:10:19Speaker 1: do you like about Peyton Toley and his opportunity here
- 1:10:22Speaker 1: with the Boston Red Sox.
- 1:10:24Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean there's a few things to like.
- 1:10:25Speaker 2: First of all, the Red Sox are playing I have
- 1:10:27Speaker 2: been playing really well, not so well, but like it
- 1:10:30Speaker 2: does feel like that they have a really good shot
- 1:10:32Speaker 2: to go deep in the playoffs, and that's what you
- 1:10:34Speaker 2: want if you're looking at guys. He's already proven as
- 1:10:38Speaker 2: a starter and like a lockdown player, and so I
- 1:10:42Speaker 2: think that some of the hypees already there. The unique
- 1:10:45Speaker 2: thing with Peyton Toley is the personality, which is doesn't
- 1:10:49Speaker 2: play in the fantasy game, but it plays in the
- 1:10:51Speaker 2: card game. Because if you start to watch him pitch
- 1:10:56Speaker 2: and then even start to watch interviews, you.
- 1:10:58Speaker 3: Will fall in love with this guy. He's absolute hilarious.
- 1:11:00Speaker 2: He is just the biggest bulldog but kind of like
- 1:11:04Speaker 2: the teddy bear at the same time kind of guy.
- 1:11:07Speaker 2: And he is so easy to enjoy and so fun
- 1:11:10Speaker 2: to watch and so so fun to listen to in
- 1:11:13Speaker 2: interviews things like that. He just he absolutely living his
- 1:11:16Speaker 2: best life playing for the Red Sox and just throwing
- 1:11:19Speaker 2: absolute gas up there.
- 1:11:21Speaker 3: So he's the kind of guy.
- 1:11:22Speaker 2: That could go and win three games in a like
- 1:11:26Speaker 2: a seven game series for the Red Sox and just
- 1:11:29Speaker 2: completely blow folks away and just you know, capture hearts
- 1:11:33Speaker 2: while doing it. So I think this is a guy
- 1:11:35Speaker 2: that absolutely could make a name for himself in the
- 1:11:37Speaker 2: playoffs and has the moxie to make it happen.
- 1:11:41Speaker 1: Yep, I think I totally agree. And don't forget the mustache.
- 1:11:44Speaker 1: You got anything any player with a huge mustache like
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: that you gotta love. He's also just a hulking dude,
- 1:11:51Speaker 1: Like he is a behemoth. He's got all the qualities
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: to be of next level star. You're looking for cards
- 1:11:56Speaker 1: of Peyton Totley's Bowman First was in twenty twenty four
- 1:11:58Speaker 1: Bowman Draft. There are autos First Autos in there too,
- 1:12:03Speaker 1: Rookie card this year, Top Series one, Tops Chrome he
- 1:12:07Speaker 1: was in and he'll have autos in both of those
- 1:12:09Speaker 1: products too. So obviously Pepper throughout more main products, but
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: we're going to focus on the main three rookie cards,
- 1:12:16Speaker 1: which is you know, Bowen First, Basic, Tops Flagship, and
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: Tops Chrome. So that's where you'll be looking if you
- 1:12:23Speaker 1: if you've got totally's tucked away and need to be
- 1:12:26Speaker 1: pulled out. Next guy, uh maybe the opposite on the
- 1:12:31Speaker 1: on the uh just personality spectrum, because I don't know,
- 1:12:35Speaker 1: I couldn't tell you anything about here. Maybe the most
- 1:12:39Speaker 1: one of the most basic looking white dudes out there.
- 1:12:41Speaker 1: He's actually only six feet tall as well, was picked
- 1:12:45Speaker 1: out of Virginia Tech in twenty twenty, so he's older
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: than you would think, even though he's just kind of
- 1:12:50Speaker 1: arrived on the scene. He's twenty seven, which also kind
- 1:12:52Speaker 1: of I think throws them much more into this bucket
- 1:12:55Speaker 1: where if he pops in the playoffs, make sure to
- 1:12:58Speaker 1: move as many Ean Seymore cards as you can. Is
- 1:13:00Speaker 1: this is not the profile of a guy who's gonna
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: be on the verge of a Hall of Fame run
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: or anything like that. But he has been on a
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: fantastic run since really entering the Ray's rotation fault full time.
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: Since the beginning of July. It has been otherworldly. A
- 1:13:15Speaker 1: three point thirty eight era with a twelve point two
- 1:13:18Speaker 1: K nine. It has come with a whip that has
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: leveled off at one point one two. Certainly he's getting well. Actually,
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: the babit block has been just fine as well as
- 1:13:31Speaker 1: the left on base percentage. Like he's not getting that
- 1:13:33Speaker 1: lucky with the run. He's just out there shoving and
- 1:13:37Speaker 1: regularly going five six innings racking up wins. Has been
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: a really valuable fantasy piece since the beginning of the July.
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: What do you like about Ian Seymour going forward and
- 1:13:47Speaker 1: what gives you hope that he could be somebody that
- 1:13:49Speaker 1: pops off in the twenty twenty six playoffs.
- 1:13:51Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, he's just solid across the board. He
- 1:13:54Speaker 2: never blows up, he goes alstly deep into games, and
- 1:13:59Speaker 2: you know he was he was a reliever for a
- 1:14:02Speaker 2: good portion of the year. And you know, arguably his
- 1:14:06Speaker 2: numbers he's outperformed as numbers as well. And so there's
- 1:14:10Speaker 2: a lot of things here that like he just hasn't
- 1:14:12Speaker 2: hit the national stage. And it tends to happen with
- 1:14:15Speaker 2: guys from Tampa that just don't get that name. And
- 1:14:19Speaker 2: so when they get into the playoffs and you see
- 1:14:20Speaker 2: this kind of guy that you look at his stats
- 1:14:22Speaker 2: to go actually he's a pretty decent player, and if
- 1:14:24Speaker 2: he goes like eight innings shut out with against the
- 1:14:27Speaker 2: Yankees or something like that, like all of a sudden,
- 1:14:29Speaker 2: people are like, oh my goodness, look at this guy,
- 1:14:31Speaker 2: and he can kind of burst the scene. You are right,
- 1:14:33Speaker 2: he's a little bit older, so like it could be
- 1:14:35Speaker 2: kind of one of those one and done type of things.
- 1:14:39Speaker 2: But because of that, he also is gonna be you know,
- 1:14:42Speaker 2: his cards are he doesn't have as many of them
- 1:14:44Speaker 2: out there. There's so there's gonna be a supply and demand. Again,
- 1:14:47Speaker 2: going back to Tommy Edmond, that that was something that happened.
- 1:14:49Speaker 2: He didn't have a whole lot of cards out there so.
- 1:14:51Speaker 3: It really spiked up.
- 1:14:53Speaker 2: The ones that were available. And you know him being
- 1:14:55Speaker 2: in twenty twenty Bowman Draft, like, they've been around for
- 1:14:59Speaker 2: a while and so you're gonna have to kind of
- 1:15:02Speaker 2: go back aways to dig these things up. So I
- 1:15:04Speaker 2: think he's just a solid pitcher and he is going
- 1:15:08Speaker 2: to perform better than what his numbers have said so
- 1:15:11Speaker 2: far this year. And I think put in, I don't
- 1:15:13Speaker 2: think he's gonna shy away from a national stage whatsoever.
- 1:15:16Speaker 1: No, And I mean because he was taken in twenty
- 1:15:19Speaker 1: and twenty. This dude absolutely has cards and parallels and
- 1:15:23Speaker 1: autos buried in value boxes in card shows everywhere. So
- 1:15:27Speaker 1: he was in twenty twenty Bowman Draft. So anybody that
- 1:15:31Speaker 1: was ripping, especially during the COVID pandemic like is gonna
- 1:15:35Speaker 1: have lots of these cards tucked away. I know I
- 1:15:37Speaker 1: have Ian Seymour cards. I've got to go dig out that,
- 1:15:39Speaker 1: like they're in my rookie box. So if you're looking
- 1:15:42Speaker 1: for Ian Seymour Browman first, I think they're out there
- 1:15:45Speaker 1: and they should be very easibly attainable. He's been on
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: the rays the entire time, so that's kind of actually
- 1:15:51Speaker 1: nice and usually don't get that for the race where
- 1:15:54Speaker 1: you're gonna get the jersey match here rookie cards for him.
- 1:15:57Speaker 1: He was in TOPS Series one this year. In twenty
- 1:15:59Speaker 1: twenty six there were autos in there, and then for
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: twenty twenty six TOPS Chrome. If you remember when we
- 1:16:05Speaker 1: were doing the Top chromeb overview, there was the split
- 1:16:08Speaker 1: retail in hobby box uh auto lists. Ian Seymour is
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: on the retail auto list, so he's one of the
- 1:16:16Speaker 1: guys that was deemed to be of lesser quality ended
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: up in retail only autos. He has no base rookie
- 1:16:23Speaker 1: card in TOPS Chrome this year, but I do think
- 1:16:25Speaker 1: he's probably gonna appear in TOPS Chrome update. But that
- 1:16:28Speaker 1: actually makes it even more valuable. If you can chase
- 1:16:31Speaker 1: down one of his Chrome rookie autos to stash away,
- 1:16:35Speaker 1: it's probably relatively cheap and that will shoot through the
- 1:16:38Speaker 1: roof based on some of the rarity that we're talking
- 1:16:41Speaker 1: about if he does have a good playoff run.
- 1:16:43Speaker 3: Yeah, and I'm just looking out the prices his Boween
- 1:16:47Speaker 3: first autos are like ten bucks.
- 1:16:51Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm sure you can find those in dollar boxes.
- 1:16:54Speaker 2: Absolutely allox absolutely so, like he is more more than affordable.
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: All right, Next guy we've got, Logan Henderson and the
- 1:17:02Speaker 1: Milwaukee Brewers has been on a tear. I mean he
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: was doing this last year too. They were just kind
- 1:17:08Speaker 1: of like really moving him between the miners and the
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: majors throughout the season and weren't given him a full role.
- 1:17:14Speaker 1: But he's stood out this year. It's a two seventy
- 1:17:17Speaker 1: era over sixty third and third innings. The nice kind
- 1:17:21Speaker 1: of thing here, too, is that he's being outshined by
- 1:17:24Speaker 1: Jacob Mazerowski, even though he's been pretty dang good himself.
- 1:17:29Speaker 1: It's only a three pitch mix, which is confounding, but
- 1:17:33Speaker 1: it works when you watch it, just because the slot
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: and the deception with the change up are nasty. Recently
- 1:17:40Speaker 1: grew a mustache. I saw that in his recent start
- 1:17:42Speaker 1: this weekend that he's got a big old Peyton Toley mustache,
- 1:17:45Speaker 1: which looks very odd on him because he is not
- 1:17:49Speaker 1: a big holkin dude like Peyton Toley. So it was
- 1:17:52Speaker 1: a choice for Logan Henderson here. I love him. I've
- 1:17:56Speaker 1: dove into him at Baseball Perspectus and it's really hard
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: to find a flaw in this profile. I think he's
- 1:18:04Speaker 1: a solid starter as long as he's healthy. The Brewers
- 1:18:07Speaker 1: for years to come. So what do you like about
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: Logan Henderson and the ability for you to snatch up
- 1:18:13Speaker 1: some of his cards?
- 1:18:14Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean with with Henderson, he has never not
- 1:18:17Speaker 2: succeeded like Gus, as simple as that.
- 1:18:19Speaker 3: Like there's those guys that come through the miners and
- 1:18:20Speaker 3: then to the majors that.
- 1:18:21Speaker 2: Just every step of the way they I'm not going
- 1:18:24Speaker 2: to say that Henderson has like some amazing like fastball
- 1:18:29Speaker 2: or you know, amazing pitch mix or anything that's just
- 1:18:32Speaker 2: as like otherworldly. He's just really really good and knows
- 1:18:36Speaker 2: how to pitch and get the absolute max of his tools,
- 1:18:38Speaker 2: and being in a Brewers organization that can get the
- 1:18:40Speaker 2: most out of that is just like pure gold. And
- 1:18:44Speaker 2: this is a guy that is going to continue to
- 1:18:46Speaker 2: shock people. But he's kind of like Seymour, smaller market,
- 1:18:50Speaker 2: hasn't really made the national stage. He's dealt with some
- 1:18:53Speaker 2: injuries here and there, but like his numbers like they
- 1:18:56Speaker 2: stick out and they're they're definitely better Seymour's, i mean,
- 1:19:01Speaker 2: run a two s E with a two sixty nine
- 1:19:04Speaker 2: XCRA like he's he's doing it and for a Brewers team,
- 1:19:08Speaker 2: Like when you start talking about the value. The Brewers
- 1:19:10Speaker 2: have really struggled to kind of go deep in the playoffs,
- 1:19:14Speaker 2: and a guy like Miserowski everybody knows about, but it
- 1:19:18Speaker 2: is you know, you're taking a risk anytime you're trying
- 1:19:21Speaker 2: to invest in these kind of guys. I would not
- 1:19:23Speaker 2: be shocked since he had Logan Henderson outperform Jacob Miserowski.
- 1:19:27Speaker 2: Because Miserowski everybody knows he's coming, everybody knows what they're
- 1:19:30Speaker 2: getting too, they're gearing up for him. A guy like
- 1:19:32Speaker 2: Kenderson could just come in behind that and just absolutely
- 1:19:36Speaker 2: pick up a few gyms and you know, those that
- 1:19:39Speaker 2: pair could drive the Brewers deeper into the playoffs than
- 1:19:43Speaker 2: they've been for a while because they are so good together.
- 1:19:45Speaker 2: And I don't think people realize how good Logan Hinderson is.
- 1:19:48Speaker 1: Yeah, and it's it's really driven a lot with pinpoint command,
- 1:19:52Speaker 1: like he can spot it up extremely well and put
- 1:19:56Speaker 1: the fastball change up and cutter wherever he wants when
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: he wants. And I think because of that too, he
- 1:20:03Speaker 1: will really appeal to like old school style fans, you
- 1:20:07Speaker 1: know of like eighties and nineties baseball, where you know
- 1:20:10Speaker 1: everybody has like the oh they were pictures they weren't
- 1:20:14Speaker 1: throwers or whatever. Logan Henderson is a picture no matter
- 1:20:17Speaker 1: what definition you go with, and I think that could
- 1:20:19Speaker 1: also impress people on a bigger stage if you're looking
- 1:20:22Speaker 1: for his cards. He's in twenty twenty one Bowman Draft.
- 1:20:25Speaker 1: No autos though, so he has no Bowman first autos.
- 1:20:30Speaker 1: There's other guys I will talk about that are like that,
- 1:20:32Speaker 1: but that does happen when you're not a big name
- 1:20:35Speaker 1: being drafted or being signed internationally, So no autos on
- 1:20:39Speaker 1: first for Logan Henderson. Twenty twenty five TOPS Update is
- 1:20:43Speaker 1: the flagship card that you've got. He does have autos there,
- 1:20:47Speaker 1: and then he was in twenty twenty five TOPS Chrome
- 1:20:49Speaker 1: Update where he's also got autos. Okay, let's move into
- 1:20:54Speaker 1: our next type of player, where you just got the
- 1:20:57Speaker 1: big time reliever. So it's not more complicated than that.
- 1:21:02Speaker 1: You've got a guy who is in the closers role,
- 1:21:05Speaker 1: just steams through the playoffs and becomes a name on
- 1:21:08Speaker 1: the national stage. So the one, the first one we're
- 1:21:12Speaker 1: going to talk about, certainly I think has some cloud
- 1:21:15Speaker 1: on the national stage, but the card market has never
- 1:21:18Speaker 1: really quite been there, and honestly, I think if he
- 1:21:21Speaker 1: goes on a great run for the playoffs, we might
- 1:21:24Speaker 1: be talking about Josh Hader's Hall of Fame chances that,
- 1:21:27Speaker 1: like he is thirty two, he's set to turn thirty
- 1:21:30Speaker 1: three in the beginning of next year. You know, if
- 1:21:34Speaker 1: you kind of projected out that he pitches till forty,
- 1:21:37Speaker 1: he's going to get into maybe like four hundred save
- 1:21:42Speaker 1: territory and that's I think that might get him into
- 1:21:44Speaker 1: the Hall of Fame discussion pretty quickly. So it has
- 1:21:48Speaker 1: been a great season, a point nine era over thirty
- 1:21:51Speaker 1: innings with seventeen saves after like, I wasn't sure he
- 1:21:54Speaker 1: was going to be able to come back from his
- 1:21:57Speaker 1: arm issues that were barking as he got into the
- 1:22:01Speaker 1: beginning of the year. So uh, certainly a little bit
- 1:22:05Speaker 1: more of a known name, known quantity out there. But
- 1:22:07Speaker 1: I think this could work because especially if he leads
- 1:22:10Speaker 1: this Astros team that you know has yard on but
- 1:22:13Speaker 1: not bring any big names on the pitching side, he
- 1:22:16Speaker 1: could be one of the standout stars. What do you
- 1:22:18Speaker 1: think about Josh Hayter.
- 1:22:19Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean the hater is a tough one just
- 1:22:21Speaker 2: because there is a penalty for the Astros for as
- 1:22:26Speaker 2: it goes. But The thing with relievers and I know
- 1:22:30Speaker 2: we got a number of we're gonna hit here is
- 1:22:32Speaker 2: they can shine because it's like they become the bridge
- 1:22:36Speaker 2: and they're there.
- 1:22:37Speaker 3: This is when your closers go.
- 1:22:38Speaker 2: Two innings or they come in in odd times and
- 1:22:41Speaker 2: get the big the big outs and like they pitch
- 1:22:44Speaker 2: every single game in the series and close out four saves.
- 1:22:47Speaker 3: Type of thing. Luke Weaver did this for the the Yankees.
- 1:22:50Speaker 2: He kind of came out of nowhere and his prices
- 1:22:53Speaker 2: went through the roof because Luke Weaver was like the
- 1:22:55Speaker 2: shut down closer and just was just nasty. There's a
- 1:23:00Speaker 2: personality with a closer, like people love that. So you know,
- 1:23:04Speaker 2: for Hater, it's just a matter of like if they
- 1:23:06Speaker 2: can go deep and he can be in those key
- 1:23:07Speaker 2: moments because we know he can perform.
- 1:23:10Speaker 3: So that's not a question.
- 1:23:11Speaker 2: But to your point, like he's just never got the
- 1:23:13Speaker 2: card loft and that that's really the thing with him.
- 1:23:15Speaker 2: He is he hasn't had the market for it. He
- 1:23:18Speaker 2: sets them off the field issues, which I think has
- 1:23:20Speaker 2: kept the bound I got the astros effect of it.
- 1:23:22Speaker 2: I think there's a number of things there. So maybe
- 1:23:24Speaker 2: he's got a little uphill Swimming's do. But I do
- 1:23:28Speaker 2: think he's the guy that could absolutely, you know, just
- 1:23:30Speaker 2: be pitching like two inning saves and get like six
- 1:23:34Speaker 2: seven innings in the series and save three games and
- 1:23:37Speaker 2: strike out twenty guys Like I don't think the math
- 1:23:39Speaker 2: actually worked there, but that's beside the point.
- 1:23:42Speaker 3: Pass balls happen. It can still work.
- 1:23:45Speaker 2: But I do think you're right that a hater could
- 1:23:48Speaker 2: absolutely just burst out and people will want a piece
- 1:23:52Speaker 2: of that.
- 1:23:53Speaker 1: Yeah, And so if you're looking for Josh Hater cards,
- 1:23:57Speaker 1: this is this is kind of an interesting like little
- 1:24:01Speaker 1: mix and match that we've got on the card side
- 1:24:03Speaker 1: because he was drafted out of high school in twenty
- 1:24:06Speaker 1: twelve by the Orioles, but his first cards were in
- 1:24:09Speaker 1: twenty fourteen Bowman Draft where he does have autos. So
- 1:24:13Speaker 1: those are his first bowman's and they're actually in an
- 1:24:16Speaker 1: Astros uniform because he moved from the Orioles to the
- 1:24:21Speaker 1: Astros there in twenty thirteen. Then his rookie card is
- 1:24:25Speaker 1: actually on the Brewers in twenty seventeen Tops Update and
- 1:24:32Speaker 1: twenty seventeen Tops Chrome Update. That's when he really broke
- 1:24:35Speaker 1: out for the Brewers and came to the main stage
- 1:24:38Speaker 1: as a big strikeout reliever, so he will have autos
- 1:24:42Speaker 1: in both of those products as well. So yeah, just
- 1:24:46Speaker 1: kind of it is strange that he had the tops
- 1:24:50Speaker 1: or the bowman first in Astros' uniforms, but then came
- 1:24:56Speaker 1: back to the Astros eventually, So a little bit of there.
- 1:25:00Speaker 1: The other closer that we really identified is Tanner Scott,
- 1:25:03Speaker 1: who I mean, actually I didn't realize they've been this good,
- 1:25:07Speaker 1: and I've got him in a couple of places. It
- 1:25:09Speaker 1: was just kind of set and forget, and I've never
- 1:25:10Speaker 1: had to doubt taking Tanner Scott out of my lineup.
- 1:25:13Speaker 1: But a two to twenty arra over forty nine innings
- 1:25:16Speaker 1: with sixteen saves and a career high twenty seven point
- 1:25:20Speaker 1: one K minus BB shrunk the K the walk rate
- 1:25:23Speaker 1: under six for Tarner Scott. Yeah, this looks like a
- 1:25:27Speaker 1: guy who's worth sixteen million dollars a year, that's for sure.
- 1:25:30Speaker 1: Has bounced back this year, gonna be closing again with
- 1:25:33Speaker 1: Edwin Diaz out is going to be somebody who will
- 1:25:37Speaker 1: jump onto the national stage if he does so. Because
- 1:25:40Speaker 1: even though he was on that Dodgers team last year,
- 1:25:43Speaker 1: he was not good, did not stand out and if
- 1:25:46Speaker 1: he is the stand up reliever for them this year
- 1:25:48Speaker 1: and on three pete, he's gonna get a lot of buzz.
- 1:25:51Speaker 1: There's a lot of Dodgers collectors out there. So what
- 1:25:54Speaker 1: do you like about Tarror Scott.
- 1:25:56Speaker 2: Well, honestly, when I added them to our list, like
- 1:25:58Speaker 2: that was before the Edwin news and so I was
- 1:26:01Speaker 2: already projecting that he was going to take the role
- 1:26:03Speaker 2: back from Diaz and that came true with like twelve
- 1:26:06Speaker 2: hours later. So you know what I like here is
- 1:26:09Speaker 2: the guy absolutely been locked down all year and from
- 1:26:13Speaker 2: a card perspective, that LA market is massive, and it's
- 1:26:19Speaker 2: it's a different market than almost any other market in
- 1:26:21Speaker 2: baseball where they will jump on a guy that's hot
- 1:26:25Speaker 2: and they will buy him up like crazy, and they
- 1:26:27Speaker 2: will spend big dollars on him. Because we talked about
- 1:26:30Speaker 2: the supply that's the but this is really the demand
- 1:26:32Speaker 2: side of thing, because there's such a massive Dodgers market
- 1:26:36Speaker 2: that they can go deep. He can get six saves
- 1:26:39Speaker 2: or something like that in the playoffs, lock down a
- 1:26:42Speaker 2: few like clinchers and you know, striking out the side
- 1:26:45Speaker 2: doing it. I think people will jump at the opportunity
- 1:26:48Speaker 2: to gain from his cards. He might be the one
- 1:26:50Speaker 2: that actually, you know, the rookies and things like that
- 1:26:54Speaker 2: might not play as well because they're not going to be,
- 1:26:57Speaker 2: you know, in the Dodgers' uniforms. But I think there
- 1:27:00Speaker 2: will be a few of the more recent cards and
- 1:27:01Speaker 2: the parallels that will play well. But I this is
- 1:27:06Speaker 2: anybody that we're talking about. If I had to guess
- 1:27:08Speaker 2: on a guy that I wanted, it's probably gonna be
- 1:27:11Speaker 2: Tanner Scott because he's cheap now and you have to
- 1:27:15Speaker 2: believe the Dodgers are gonna go very deep into the
- 1:27:19Speaker 2: playoffs and they have to have a lockdown closer, and
- 1:27:21Speaker 2: Tanner Scott's been that guy with Diaz now out.
- 1:27:25Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I think I agree. He also has the
- 1:27:28Speaker 1: goopiest card situation. Is this is also the Tommy I've
- 1:27:32Speaker 1: Been card situation. There's not a lot of Tanner Scott
- 1:27:35Speaker 1: cards out there because he was a middle reliever coming
- 1:27:38Speaker 1: through the Oriele system. So he does have a Bowman
- 1:27:42Speaker 1: First in twenty twenty seventeen. It's auto only, though he
- 1:27:45Speaker 1: doesn't have any base Bowman first cards. He only did
- 1:27:49Speaker 1: autographed cards, which is a strange twist, but do you
- 1:27:53Speaker 1: see that every once in a while, because then they
- 1:27:55Speaker 1: did it again in twenty eighteen. Tops Chrome. He doesn't
- 1:27:57Speaker 1: have a Bass Chrome Rookie card, but he's got a
- 1:27:59Speaker 1: Rookie Chrome cards. So there are there's a very limited
- 1:28:03Speaker 1: stock of Tanner Scott cards out there period. So uh,
- 1:28:07Speaker 1: this is the one guy where the supply and demand
- 1:28:10Speaker 1: market is going to drive the price even further up
- 1:28:14Speaker 1: if he does break out. So something to keep in mind,
- 1:28:16Speaker 1: and I think a good player to pursue up. There
- 1:28:19Speaker 1: another one where you could find some of these autos
- 1:28:22Speaker 1: in long loss of value boxes from twenty seventeen to
- 1:28:25Speaker 1: twenty eighteen. They've been kicking around in the oriole section
- 1:28:28Speaker 1: for a while.
- 1:28:29Speaker 2: Okay, twenty seventeen Bowman is a paper Bowman too.
- 1:28:33Speaker 3: This is a funny thing. This is a paper It's
- 1:28:35Speaker 3: a paper Bowman.
- 1:28:36Speaker 1: It is it is just yeah, that is right, because
- 1:28:38Speaker 1: it's not even draft or chrome or or like anything else.
- 1:28:42Speaker 1: It is just the regular Bowman cards that came out.
- 1:28:46Speaker 1: Yeah that he also that is even stranger he didn't
- 1:28:49Speaker 1: get a just regular first paper considering how many prospects
- 1:28:53Speaker 1: are in that set. So that is that is fun. Okay.
- 1:28:59Speaker 1: The next archetype player we have is the young gun
- 1:29:02Speaker 1: that just breaks out where you see him come to
- 1:29:04Speaker 1: the next stage. He's been kicking around in the miners
- 1:29:08Speaker 1: and has had the electric arm and finally gets the
- 1:29:11Speaker 1: big stage. I mean, you can almost put Roki Sasaki
- 1:29:14Speaker 1: into this kind of group. But I mean, I'm blanking
- 1:29:20Speaker 1: on any more names. But like there's always a handful
- 1:29:23Speaker 1: of these, it feels like every year, and especially nowadays,
- 1:29:27Speaker 1: I think you're gonna see these guys deployed in two
- 1:29:30Speaker 1: three innings burst, which makes them even more prominent. So
- 1:29:33Speaker 1: first one we've got in this vein still in the
- 1:29:35Speaker 1: minor leagues, Gage Wood of the Philadelphia Phillies out of Arkansas.
- 1:29:39Speaker 1: And I think that will help too because when we
- 1:29:42Speaker 1: get into looking at his cards a little bit too,
- 1:29:45Speaker 1: is that he's actually got a decent number of cards
- 1:29:48Speaker 1: out there because of his fame when he was at
- 1:29:51Speaker 1: Arkansas that you know, Wood was a fantastic frontline pitcher.
- 1:29:55Speaker 1: I believe set the all time single game strikeout record
- 1:29:58Speaker 1: in college for like a sec or something like that,
- 1:30:02Speaker 1: but I just remember it was like crazy, It's like
- 1:30:04Speaker 1: nineteen k's or something like that. And so he has
- 1:30:08Speaker 1: leaf cards. He has some Panini cards from his college
- 1:30:11Speaker 1: days has been down in Double A for the Phillies.
- 1:30:16Speaker 1: It's been a little bit of a tough sledding recently,
- 1:30:18Speaker 1: but they've been trying to stretch him out a little
- 1:30:19Speaker 1: bit because he was pretty much only relieving and they've
- 1:30:22Speaker 1: started or like pitching like a reliever. He was starting
- 1:30:26Speaker 1: but like only going like twelve fifteen batter's face, and
- 1:30:29Speaker 1: they started stretching him out and it started getting a
- 1:30:31Speaker 1: little more wonky. But certainly the strikeouts are still there
- 1:30:34Speaker 1: for gage Wood. Even though it's been a four thirty
- 1:30:37Speaker 1: eight RA across two levels and seventy six innings, it's
- 1:30:41Speaker 1: still twenty seven point one percent K minus b B,
- 1:30:44Speaker 1: almost a thirty five percent K rate. When you read
- 1:30:48Speaker 1: the Tea leaves here, it does really feel like the
- 1:30:50Speaker 1: Phillies are itching to get him up into their bullpen
- 1:30:53Speaker 1: for the playoff run. So do you think that Wood
- 1:30:56Speaker 1: does that? And what do you think about his overall profile?
- 1:31:00Speaker 3: Yeah, I think he's definitely the kind of guy that
- 1:31:03Speaker 3: could because his stuff.
- 1:31:09Speaker 2: Will play up as a reliever, like he he seits
- 1:31:12Speaker 2: mid nineties as a starter, but he can touch ninety
- 1:31:16Speaker 2: eight ninety nine, and I think as a reliever, the
- 1:31:18Speaker 2: stuff's going to play up. What I like is his
- 1:31:20Speaker 2: control has been really solid this year. Seems like he's
- 1:31:24Speaker 2: keeping the ball on the ground, like all those good things.
- 1:31:26Speaker 2: And if that's mostly to your point, coming as a starter,
- 1:31:29Speaker 2: actually all of it coming as a starter. So if
- 1:31:31Speaker 2: if he's able to start to, you know, really just
- 1:31:34Speaker 2: let things fly, I think it'll be a dangerous weapon
- 1:31:37Speaker 2: because people also haven't seen him before. We've seen this
- 1:31:39Speaker 2: have like going by all the way aft to like
- 1:31:40Speaker 2: the David Price days, right, this.
- 1:31:42Speaker 1: Kind of thing happened.
- 1:31:43Speaker 3: That's name thought of, Yeah, come on, don't don't let
- 1:31:46Speaker 3: me down here, David Price. This is the Francisco Rodriguez.
- 1:31:50Speaker 2: Like, there's a lot of these these kind of guys
- 1:31:52Speaker 2: that came up and just let it fly, and nobody
- 1:31:55Speaker 2: saw him before the playoffs, and that that made them
- 1:31:58Speaker 2: dominant in themselves because there's played up. So I think
- 1:32:01Speaker 2: it was absolute possibility they call him up in that
- 1:32:06Speaker 2: bullpen and just let him be the fireman. Like he's
- 1:32:09Speaker 2: not gonna steal Duran's job or anything, but he's gonna
- 1:32:12Speaker 2: be the guy that comes out there in gets two
- 1:32:15Speaker 2: or three inning stints in the middle of the game
- 1:32:18Speaker 2: and just shuts down the lineup one time through, and
- 1:32:20Speaker 2: so yeah, it's really really interesting to see and he
- 1:32:25Speaker 2: of all these guys, he's got enough cards out there
- 1:32:27Speaker 2: that you can actually go after.
- 1:32:29Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I totally agree. So if you're looking for
- 1:32:33Speaker 1: the products where he'll be in a Phillies uniform, he
- 1:32:36Speaker 1: is in twenty twenty five Bowman Draft with autos in there.
- 1:32:39Speaker 1: They're gonna be kind of expensive, just because it was
- 1:32:42Speaker 1: just last year's Bowman Draft and you know he was
- 1:32:44Speaker 1: a big time pick and still doesn't have a rookie card.
- 1:32:48Speaker 1: But you know, if he has a great playoffs run,
- 1:32:53Speaker 1: I think you can almost expect him to be in
- 1:32:56Speaker 1: twenty twenty seven Series one. So that is something that
- 1:33:00Speaker 1: in mind with gauge Wood. The other guy we have
- 1:33:02Speaker 1: in this vein is Grant Taylor of the Chicago White Sox. Obviously,
- 1:33:05Speaker 1: he's been up and just absolutely dominating all year in
- 1:33:08Speaker 1: the relief role as like a closer, slash, fireman, slash,
- 1:33:14Speaker 1: you know, opener, just wherever the Socks have needed him
- 1:33:17Speaker 1: this year. Grant Taylor's been there two eleven year ra
- 1:33:20Speaker 1: over sixty four innings, has come with a twenty three
- 1:33:24Speaker 1: point nine percent K minus BB with an almost thirty
- 1:33:27Speaker 1: two percent strikeout rate. Elite elite stuff, big old fastball
- 1:33:33Speaker 1: out of a big school in LSU from the SEC.
- 1:33:35Speaker 1: So you've got a lot of the traits that you're
- 1:33:38Speaker 1: looking for. You can almost copy over from Gage Wood
- 1:33:41Speaker 1: here to Grant Taylor. A little bit less of a
- 1:33:44Speaker 1: market in Chicago. White Sox just not as big in
- 1:33:47Speaker 1: the hobby as the Philadelphia Phillies. But Grant Taylor could
- 1:33:51Speaker 1: certainly launch himself forward with a big playoff run. So
- 1:33:54Speaker 1: what do you like about Grant Taylor?
- 1:33:56Speaker 2: Yeah, I think what I like about Taylor's he's never
- 1:33:58Speaker 2: not succeeded and so like he's just been good. But
- 1:34:03Speaker 2: what I really like is the situation because the White Sox,
- 1:34:07Speaker 2: I'm just waiting for it to not happen, but they're
- 1:34:09Speaker 2: gonna make the playoffs and if they end up with
- 1:34:12Speaker 2: like kind of dream journey through the playoffs, They're They're
- 1:34:16Speaker 2: pitching is not the strongest, but they're gonna do it
- 1:34:20Speaker 2: because of somebody like Granton Taylor, who just like they
- 1:34:22Speaker 2: just lean on so hard and he makes a name
- 1:34:27Speaker 2: for himself and nobody's heard of this guy before. To
- 1:34:30Speaker 2: your point, like he's good, So you should know about him,
- 1:34:32Speaker 2: but I don't think the general public knows, and so
- 1:34:35Speaker 2: the white socks out of the possibility of this like
- 1:34:37Speaker 2: Cinderella story and he's the guy on the mound at
- 1:34:40Speaker 2: the end of it. And so I think that's what
- 1:34:42Speaker 2: really makes it interesting. And again, if you talk about
- 1:34:44Speaker 2: like card prices and a guy you're chasing here like his,
- 1:34:47Speaker 2: his rookie autos are like five.
- 1:34:50Speaker 3: To ten bucks, you know, it's it's cheap.
- 1:34:54Speaker 2: As all get out, like his his Bowman is. You know,
- 1:34:57Speaker 2: it's gonna be a little bit more, but we're talking
- 1:34:59Speaker 2: like twenty twenty five thirty bucks, those kind of things.
- 1:35:03Speaker 2: So I think there's a really good opportunity here so
- 1:35:06Speaker 2: to buy guy like this that he just needs an
- 1:35:08Speaker 2: opportunity to a national stage, and don't I don't think
- 1:35:11Speaker 2: there's any question if he gets that opportunity, he's gonna succeed.
- 1:35:14Speaker 1: YEP. I think that's very fair. So he's in twenty
- 1:35:16Speaker 1: twenty three Bowman Draft with autos in there too. He's
- 1:35:20Speaker 1: also in twenty twenty six Series one with autos for
- 1:35:23Speaker 1: the Rookie card, and then in twenty twenty six Tops
- 1:35:26Speaker 1: Chrome this year with the rookies as well, with autos,
- 1:35:29Speaker 1: So yeah, lots of grant tailor cards available and should
- 1:35:33Speaker 1: be relatively cheap. As you were saying, okay, let's switch
- 1:35:36Speaker 1: over to batters, which we've only got two names because honestly,
- 1:35:38Speaker 1: this is a little bit harder to project out compared
- 1:35:42Speaker 1: to pictures, where because there is a factor with like
- 1:35:47Speaker 1: nasty pictures will just always play up in the playoffs,
- 1:35:50Speaker 1: where hitters there is a lot more randomness built into it,
- 1:35:55Speaker 1: where it takes a lot more luck. You're talking small
- 1:35:58Speaker 1: sample sizes, you're talking just players meeting the moment, and
- 1:36:02Speaker 1: it's really hard to predict that, and honestly, that's what
- 1:36:06Speaker 1: makes baseball and live sports worth watching. So we do
- 1:36:09Speaker 1: have two names because I do think both of these
- 1:36:12Speaker 1: guys you could see them come more forward on a
- 1:36:17Speaker 1: national stage as well as you've got pretty decent markets
- 1:36:21Speaker 1: to play with, especially with this first guy, where I
- 1:36:24Speaker 1: think maybe the archetype here is just like the speed demon,
- 1:36:27Speaker 1: Like there's always the Dave Roberts, there's always the Terrence
- 1:36:31Speaker 1: Gore rip guy who will come through in a playoff series,
- 1:36:36Speaker 1: swipe a big bass, you know, be a big story
- 1:36:39Speaker 1: and be maybe possibly the remembered story of a playoff run.
- 1:36:43Speaker 1: So I think the guy if you're looking for that,
- 1:36:46Speaker 1: it's got to be Chandler Simpson from the Tampa Bay Rays.
- 1:36:49Speaker 1: It's also a very very cheap market, but I do
- 1:36:52Speaker 1: think the market will catch up eventually, Like if he
- 1:36:56Speaker 1: keeps up what he's doing this year with a three
- 1:36:58Speaker 1: zho nine three thirty six, three sixty six slash line
- 1:37:03Speaker 1: a little bit below league average on the WRC plus
- 1:37:05Speaker 1: at ninety seven, but thirty five stone bases should push
- 1:37:09Speaker 1: fifty bags again after forty four last year. He doesn't
- 1:37:13Speaker 1: strike out, walk, doesn't walk either, but like is just
- 1:37:17Speaker 1: puts the bomb play and runs down to first base.
- 1:37:19Speaker 1: That like, it's exciting. It's what people will remember when
- 1:37:23Speaker 1: they're watching a baseball game. And so Chandler Simpson I
- 1:37:26Speaker 1: think has a lot of great things going for him
- 1:37:30Speaker 1: coming into the playoffs. What do you think about Chandler
- 1:37:32Speaker 1: Simpson and your take on his role with the race.
- 1:37:36Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, Terren Score was the guy I first
- 1:37:38Speaker 2: thought of when I was, you know, looking at Simpson,
- 1:37:42Speaker 2: and he's the kind of guy that he can be
- 1:37:44Speaker 2: electric and absolutely win a game on his own. He
- 1:37:48Speaker 2: you know, and I think that's from a from a
- 1:37:50Speaker 2: batter perspective to you, right, like the role players that
- 1:37:53Speaker 2: come out of nowhere things like that, those are just
- 1:37:55Speaker 2: very hard to predict.
- 1:37:56Speaker 3: Right. Situations have to be right. They have to make
- 1:37:58Speaker 3: it happen that, you know, Addison Barger in the World
- 1:38:01Speaker 3: Series last year, those kind of guys have to make
- 1:38:04Speaker 3: it happen.
- 1:38:05Speaker 2: With Simpson though, he absolutely is the guy that you
- 1:38:08Speaker 2: know they're down one run, he I wouldna say he
- 1:38:12Speaker 2: coaxes a watch Simpon's not gonna coax a walk, but
- 1:38:15Speaker 2: he lays down a bunch. He hits a duck snort
- 1:38:18Speaker 2: and gets on base and he steals second. There's a
- 1:38:21Speaker 2: pass ball he he you know, makes the third. There's
- 1:38:24Speaker 2: a short pop up and he makes it home like
- 1:38:28Speaker 2: and literally just wins the game on his back because
- 1:38:32Speaker 2: of only his speed. And it's gonna be an exciting
- 1:38:35Speaker 2: piece no matter what, Like it's gonna be so fun
- 1:38:37Speaker 2: to watch, and he could disrupt it with his running
- 1:38:40Speaker 2: game that unlike anybody else, absolutely can do it. So
- 1:38:43Speaker 2: I think that's what's intriguing about him is because he
- 1:38:45Speaker 2: could just make a name on like one trip around
- 1:38:48Speaker 2: the base path in a really tight situation, or he
- 1:38:51Speaker 2: could be you know kind of the the diamond of
- 1:38:53Speaker 2: the rough that I would be surprised the Rays hold
- 1:38:55Speaker 2: him back and then insert him into the game at
- 1:38:59Speaker 2: the right time to make the most of it, make
- 1:39:02Speaker 2: most of that speed, and then leave men the rest
- 1:39:05Speaker 2: of the game. So you know, that's interesting. They have
- 1:39:07Speaker 2: a ways of different to play Simpson, and again, I
- 1:39:10Speaker 2: think he's going to really surprise people as far as
- 1:39:14Speaker 2: how exciting he can be to watch. And again, if
- 1:39:17Speaker 2: the Rays do well, Simpson's gonna be a part of it.
- 1:39:20Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I think I totally agree. This is a
- 1:39:23Speaker 1: and like I said, like the price is right here
- 1:39:26Speaker 1: on Chandler Simpson, that the market is not too huge
- 1:39:29Speaker 1: on Tampa Bay Rays in general, and you've also got
- 1:39:32Speaker 1: a guy who you know, the cards have been out
- 1:39:35Speaker 1: in the market for a little while, so it's not
- 1:39:36Speaker 1: a hot new name. Twenty twenty two Bowman Draft is
- 1:39:39Speaker 1: where you're looking for Chandler Simpson first, as well as
- 1:39:42Speaker 1: autos in that product, and twenty twenty five TOPS Update
- 1:39:47Speaker 1: is where you're going to be looking for his flagship
- 1:39:50Speaker 1: card with autos in that product too. He's also got
- 1:39:55Speaker 1: the base card in twenty twenty five TOPS Chrome Update,
- 1:39:58Speaker 1: which has autos, but he also had autos and just
- 1:40:01Speaker 1: regular twenty twenty five tops Chrome. So you've got a
- 1:40:04Speaker 1: couple of rookie card options here for Chandler Simpson and
- 1:40:09Speaker 1: different sets to look for him. So yeah, look out
- 1:40:13Speaker 1: there for the Chandler Simpson market in general. Last guy
- 1:40:16Speaker 1: we have. I think this is the biggest wild card,
- 1:40:18Speaker 1: but it's a pretty big wild card because as we're
- 1:40:21Speaker 1: speaking right now, the Texas Rangers are in sole possession
- 1:40:25Speaker 1: of the third wild card right now in the AL
- 1:40:28Speaker 1: and I mean this is a team that like they're
- 1:40:33Speaker 1: kind of built for the playoffs a little bit more
- 1:40:35Speaker 1: so than I think other teams because they've got a
- 1:40:39Speaker 1: pretty decent one to punch at the top of their
- 1:40:42Speaker 1: rotation and maybe one two three, you know, if Aovaldi
- 1:40:45Speaker 1: comes back, fine to join de Gram and Gore there.
- 1:40:49Speaker 1: They've got the star power the lineup between Corey Seeger
- 1:40:53Speaker 1: and Wyatt Langford along with Brandon Nimo and Jake Berger
- 1:40:57Speaker 1: to support them. But there have been murderings that maybe
- 1:41:00Speaker 1: they want to bring a little bit more of a
- 1:41:03Speaker 1: boost to that offense. And Sebastian Walcott, their number one prospect,
- 1:41:07Speaker 1: has been working his way back much quicker from a
- 1:41:09Speaker 1: Tommy John surgery. I guess, I don't know if it
- 1:41:12Speaker 1: was a Tommy John, but elbow surgery, then people thought
- 1:41:15Speaker 1: that he was going to He has been mashing in
- 1:41:17Speaker 1: Double A recently, seventeen games with seventy five played appearances
- 1:41:21Speaker 1: with A three nineteen three, seventy three five eighty slash
- 1:41:25Speaker 1: nights A one forty wrsc plus the strikeouts have been
- 1:41:29Speaker 1: reeled in at twenty four percent. And this is the
- 1:41:31Speaker 1: type of guy, even at twenty years old. The talent
- 1:41:34Speaker 1: level is so tremendous that like it might just be
- 1:41:38Speaker 1: able to play in the majors now, certainly, like he
- 1:41:41Speaker 1: wouldn't come without stumblings. But even though he's only at
- 1:41:46Speaker 1: Double A, they're good enough numbers and the talent has
- 1:41:49Speaker 1: been there for so long out of the Bahamas for
- 1:41:51Speaker 1: him that like the ceiling is tremendous. On Sebastian Walcott,
- 1:41:56Speaker 1: the market here is a little bit hot because he
- 1:41:59Speaker 1: is a top ten ish prospect, fifteen ish prospect, you know,
- 1:42:04Speaker 1: it depends on your source, but he's in an upper
- 1:42:06Speaker 1: tier prospect in terms of the list. So what do
- 1:42:09Speaker 1: you think about Sebastian Walcott? Do the Rangers go to
- 1:42:13Speaker 1: this break in case of emergency situation or is this
- 1:42:18Speaker 1: maybe a little bit too early for Walcott? You think, Yeah,
- 1:42:21Speaker 1: I mean, if I.
- 1:42:22Speaker 2: Was betting, my bet would be that he doesn't come up.
- 1:42:25Speaker 2: But I mean it's kind of like a thirty seventy
- 1:42:28Speaker 2: type of thing. Like I think it's definitely a real possibility.
- 1:42:33Speaker 2: I think we would be looking here in the next
- 1:42:35Speaker 2: few weeks that that would happen, like as the like
- 1:42:37Speaker 2: the minor league season starts to wind down and then
- 1:42:39Speaker 2: we see him brought up. The thing with him like
- 1:42:42Speaker 2: he could have the kind of the Joshua Bayas type
- 1:42:44Speaker 2: of impact, Like he gets called up, like people haven't
- 1:42:47Speaker 2: seen him. He's so young, and he can he is
- 1:42:52Speaker 2: an electric player. He don't have the strikeout issues of bias.
- 1:42:55Speaker 2: But like he's the kind of guy that if he
- 1:42:57Speaker 2: came up and just homework on the first pitch he saw,
- 1:42:59Speaker 2: you would be shocked because the physical tools are absolutely
- 1:43:02Speaker 2: there in the capability for him to do it. And
- 1:43:06Speaker 2: if he gets called up in that capacity and he
- 1:43:09Speaker 2: starts to run the table man, the markets will go
- 1:43:13Speaker 2: crazy for a guy like this, because all it has
- 1:43:15Speaker 2: done is said, this guy's everything we dreamed of to
- 1:43:18Speaker 2: be and he can do on the biggest stage, and
- 1:43:20Speaker 2: his market is gonna go crazy and it's gonna stay
- 1:43:23Speaker 2: there for a long time because it's gonna go to
- 1:43:25Speaker 2: the off season that way.
- 1:43:26Speaker 3: So I think there's an outside shot.
- 1:43:28Speaker 2: I don't think it's a highly likely shot, but I
- 1:43:31Speaker 2: do think there's an outside shot that they make that
- 1:43:33Speaker 2: kind of play.
- 1:43:34Speaker 3: And you know, Texas needs.
- 1:43:37Speaker 2: A guy like this to really make it interesting because
- 1:43:40Speaker 2: all the young hitters they've come had come through, the
- 1:43:43Speaker 2: Evan Carter's, the Josh Young's, the even Wyat Langford, which
- 1:43:46Speaker 2: I know he's done a lot better, but like they
- 1:43:48Speaker 2: just haven't clicked the way that it feels like Sebesti
- 1:43:51Speaker 2: and Walcop might might.
- 1:43:52Speaker 3: Be able to.
- 1:43:53Speaker 1: Yeah, And I mean if you think that we're we
- 1:43:55Speaker 1: sound wild. I mean remember Chase the latter debuted in
- 1:43:58Speaker 1: the playoffs last year, so like it's not unprecedented. The
- 1:44:03Speaker 1: other component here too is Walcott's six foot four, athletic
- 1:44:07Speaker 1: and lenky as all get out, Like it just screams
- 1:44:10Speaker 1: like big time tools the way that kind of like
- 1:44:12Speaker 1: Fernando Tattist Junior does. So there's gonna be a lot
- 1:44:16Speaker 1: of hype if that does happen. What also makes this fascinating,
- 1:44:19Speaker 1: Sebastian Walcott has no Bowman First autos that when he
- 1:44:23Speaker 1: was included in Bowman Chrome in twenty twenty three, it
- 1:44:26Speaker 1: was just as unautographed cards. So you'll see some that
- 1:44:31Speaker 1: look like it on eBay, but they're in person autos,
- 1:44:35Speaker 1: So that might not actually be a bad route to
- 1:44:37Speaker 1: go if you can find one that you feel pretty
- 1:44:39Speaker 1: comfortable that, like the provenance is good and it's not
- 1:44:44Speaker 1: a fake because there are no Bowman First Chrome autos
- 1:44:48Speaker 1: for Sebastian Walcott. Obviously no rookie cards because he hasn't debuted,
- 1:44:51Speaker 1: but everyone's going to be really chasing down those base
- 1:44:57Speaker 1: Bowman firsts for Wa in all their parallels if he
- 1:45:01Speaker 1: does pop off. So something to keep in mind and
- 1:45:03Speaker 1: also something to keep in mind on Sebastian while going
- 1:45:05Speaker 1: forward that I can't remember the last time we've had
- 1:45:08Speaker 1: a guy this prominent in terms of a prospect that
- 1:45:12Speaker 1: doesn't have a Bowman First Chrome auto.
- 1:45:16Speaker 3: Oh yeah, got Jordan Walker.
- 1:45:18Speaker 1: That's a good point. Yeah, because he didn't do sign
- 1:45:21Speaker 1: but that's still even like five years ago.
- 1:45:23Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm going back a little bit, but like it's
- 1:45:26Speaker 3: it's relevant now.
- 1:45:27Speaker 2: But the thing is he does have i think twenty
- 1:45:29Speaker 2: four like in the megaboxes, he did in the autos,
- 1:45:32Speaker 2: and so I think the market is kind of treating
- 1:45:35Speaker 2: that to a degree as his first becauld.
- 1:45:37Speaker 3: At least there is a Bowman auto.
- 1:45:39Speaker 1: Out there for him. Yeah, I don't think he'll ever
- 1:45:41Speaker 1: get there though, because it it doesn't have the stamp
- 1:45:44Speaker 1: on it. I think that that has really changed the
- 1:45:46Speaker 1: hobby where that used to be the worst thing in
- 1:45:50Speaker 1: the world that people would debate back in the day
- 1:45:53Speaker 1: of like what was the true rookie card between like
- 1:45:55Speaker 1: the bowman, the tops, the upper deck and the you
- 1:45:58Speaker 1: know the years that they had come out and stuff that. Like,
- 1:46:01Speaker 1: if it doesn't have a first on it, if it
- 1:46:02Speaker 1: doesn't have an RC for on it, I don't think
- 1:46:04Speaker 1: the market's ever going to treat it as a true,
- 1:46:08Speaker 1: uh kind of first auto. The only the only caveat
- 1:46:11Speaker 1: there is like with the Japanese guys coming over and
- 1:46:15Speaker 1: their bowman rookie being their bowman first, Like then you
- 1:46:19Speaker 1: get the double dip. That's where it kind of will
- 1:46:23Speaker 1: deviate a little bit. Yeah, Okay, well that's going to
