- 0:00Speaker 1: It's the Mark Simon Show, Live from the w o
- 0:03Speaker 1: R Life Back studios.
- 0:08Speaker 2: Well, a lot going on, all right. There was an
- 0:11Speaker 2: attempted terrorist attack on the UFC fight at the White House, Uh,
- 0:16Speaker 2: Sunday night. We'll get to that. We'll get to a
- 0:19Speaker 2: Ran the deal, nobody likes it. We'll get to sy Vance.
- 0:23Speaker 2: Uh Uh. We'll get to Jdvan Si. Vance was our
- 0:32Speaker 2: district attorney here in New York.
- 0:34Speaker 3: Uh.
- 0:34Speaker 2: JD. Vans. He's got some unusual activities today that he's doing.
- 0:39Speaker 2: We'll get to that. Coming up. We'll get to Epstein.
- 0:42Speaker 2: There's some interesting information there. We'll get to Mom Donnie.
- 0:45Speaker 2: We'll get to the knick. Of course, we'll get to
- 0:47Speaker 2: the parade and Gavin Newsom and a whole lot more So.
- 0:51Speaker 2: The investigation is underway into Gavin Newsom. Apparently it's been
- 0:57Speaker 2: underway for weeks now. He has known about it because
- 1:01Speaker 2: a lot of documents have been subpoened. H they've been
- 1:05Speaker 2: issuing grand jury subpoenas to people to testify. So knew
- 1:08Speaker 2: some new about this for weeks and decided to make
- 1:11Speaker 2: it public and to go on the counter attack. And
- 1:16Speaker 2: of course, why howdia you know, defend yourself in this,
- 1:19Speaker 2: and well, you claim it's Trump. It's law here. He's
- 1:22Speaker 2: out to get me because I'm running against him. You
- 1:24Speaker 2: claim all that kind of stuff.
- 1:25Speaker 4: Donald Trump isn't just coming after me because of my
- 1:28Speaker 4: mean tweets. He's coming after me because I'm considering running
- 1:32Speaker 4: for president because he hates that I've consistently called him
- 1:36Speaker 4: out over and over again for his lies and deceit.
- 1:40Speaker 2: Yeah, he's not used to being attacked. Trump boy, it
- 1:43Speaker 2: must have really shook him up to be attacked for
- 1:44Speaker 2: the first time anybody now, Actually, uh, and that's funny.
- 1:49Speaker 2: Newsom still will not admit he's running. Keeps saying he's
- 1:53Speaker 2: considering running, and he used the old Trump line. He's
- 1:57Speaker 2: not coming after me, He's coming after you and all.
- 1:59Speaker 2: That's a big part of this is his wife, Jennifer.
- 2:05Speaker 2: That's who really's got the problem. They're scrutinizing the finances,
- 2:09Speaker 2: the salaries and the transactions, payments and stuff from her
- 2:14Speaker 2: nonprofit that she was running, the Representation Project. This is
- 2:20Speaker 2: her nonprofit where you can raise money in certain ways.
- 2:24Speaker 2: It's a nonprofit, it's a charity. It's at five oh
- 2:26Speaker 2: one C three, But apparently some money they believe went
- 2:29Speaker 2: from that into her for profit film production company. Now
- 2:35Speaker 2: you can't do that. That's illegal. In other words, if
- 2:39Speaker 2: you're a charity and you receive money into your charity,
- 2:43Speaker 2: you can give it to other charitable causes. It's charity money.
- 2:46Speaker 2: It can only go to charitable stuff. It can't go
- 2:49Speaker 2: to for profit stuff. Otherwise, every con man would just
- 2:55Speaker 2: set up a charity, raise money for his charity and
- 2:58Speaker 2: then transfer it over to himself his own business. You
- 3:01Speaker 2: can't do that. So they're examining. And this is a
- 3:03Speaker 2: lot millions of dollars in donations that the Newsom's solicited
- 3:08Speaker 2: for this nonprofit, millions and millions of dollars. And Newsom
- 3:12Speaker 2: as his own nonprofit, the California Partners Project, including funds
- 3:18Speaker 2: from all kinds of people. And remember he's the governor,
- 3:22Speaker 2: so a lot of people donate to his charity, hoping
- 3:24Speaker 2: to ingratiate themselves with the governor. Now, if any of
- 3:27Speaker 2: that money got transferred to anything else except charity, he's
- 3:32Speaker 2: got a problem. There's former staff, his former chief of
- 3:37Speaker 2: staff is being investigated, and the former chief of staff,
- 3:41Speaker 2: Dana Williamson, pled guilty to federal fraud and tax charges.
- 3:48Speaker 2: Now this was in a separate matter, but did admit
- 3:51Speaker 2: to federal fraud and tax charges separate matter. But Joseely
- 3:58Speaker 2: the type of guy this was Dane guy or a woman,
- 4:01Speaker 2: I don't know, but there's some definitely definitely could have
- 4:05Speaker 2: a problem of going through documents.
- 4:07Speaker 4: They're demanding records, they're abusing the grand jury process, digging
- 4:11Speaker 4: through years and years of random documents.
- 4:14Speaker 2: Well, I think that's what you do an investigation with
- 4:17Speaker 2: a grand jury. I think you go through records.
- 4:18Speaker 4: In recent days, federal agents have knocked on the doors
- 4:21Speaker 4: of family friends and former employees, not because they found
- 4:25Speaker 4: a crime, because they're simply trying to find one.
- 4:29Speaker 2: Well, but again, from what I hear, it's not just smoke.
- 4:34Speaker 2: There's some fire here. You know. This is the same
- 4:36Speaker 2: defense that John Bolton used. And of course in the
- 4:41Speaker 2: end even he had to admit he was one thousand
- 4:43Speaker 2: percent guilty. It wasn't just law fair, He really was guilty.
- 4:48Speaker 2: This happens so even the case of Hillary Clinton, although
- 4:53Speaker 2: the dirty cop called me was in charge and let
- 4:55Speaker 2: her go into count decline to prosecute, he did admit
- 4:58Speaker 2: in that press conference she was guilty as hell of
- 5:02Speaker 2: taking illegally taking all sorts of classified documents, top secret
- 5:06Speaker 2: classified stuff and putting it on her home computer. So
- 5:09Speaker 2: case of Bolton, case of Hillary made it sound like
- 5:13Speaker 2: they were being targeted because they were Trump enemies. Turns
- 5:17Speaker 2: out they were both very, very very guilty.
- 5:19Speaker 4: In recent days, federal agents have knocked on the doors
- 5:22Speaker 4: of family friends.
- 5:23Speaker 2: We already heard that. Here's another one. This is more newsome.
- 5:26Speaker 4: Donald Trump is simply the most corrupt president in American history.
- 5:33Speaker 4: He's turned the lovers of government into his own personal
- 5:36Speaker 4: power ministries to reward cronies and to try to jail
- 5:39Speaker 4: his opponents. So let me say it again, mister president,
- 5:43Speaker 4: come after me. I'm not going anywhere, and the country
- 5:47Speaker 4: is watching.
- 5:48Speaker 2: Yeah, so that sounds pretty good there. But again it's
- 5:52Speaker 2: the same stuff John Bolton said. And it turned out
- 5:54Speaker 2: he was absolutely guilty of everything he was accused of.
- 6:00Speaker 2: And you know, Democrats knew some all these times. They
- 6:03Speaker 2: love hyperbole.
- 6:05Speaker 4: Donald Trump is simply the most corrupt president in American history.
- 6:11Speaker 4: He's turned the levers of government into his own personal
- 6:14Speaker 4: power ministries to reward cronies and to try to jail
- 6:18Speaker 4: his opponents.
- 6:19Speaker 2: I think that was Biden and America Garland. If I recall,
- 6:23Speaker 2: I think it was Robert Muller and Andrew Wiseman. I
- 6:26Speaker 2: think that was going on for four years, and this
- 6:29Speaker 2: guy never ever said a word about it. Hey, the
- 6:33Speaker 2: Knicks Championship. The parade is Thursday morning, and part of
- 6:39Speaker 2: the reason, Mayor Donne.
- 6:40Speaker 5: Part of the reason we're having this parade on Thursday
- 6:43Speaker 5: is to ensure the players have enough time to bring
- 6:45Speaker 5: their families because they've been working their entire life for this.
- 6:49Speaker 2: Yeah, all right, well, I think that's normal. Everybody brings
- 6:52Speaker 2: their family to the parade. Give them time. How much
- 6:55Speaker 2: time does it take to get your family here? You
- 6:56Speaker 2: got a day or two. So they had a big
- 7:00Speaker 2: apparently the Knicks, you know, they flew back from San Antonio.
- 7:05Speaker 2: They got back, and then that night they had a
- 7:07Speaker 2: huge private party just for themselves at the exclusive the
- 7:13Speaker 2: exclusive membership club, the fly Fish Club. This is down
- 7:17Speaker 2: the Lower East Side. If you go in there, it
- 7:20Speaker 2: doesn't it doesn't look so exclusive. You got to be
- 7:23Speaker 2: a member or a coman a member. It's not exactly
- 7:26Speaker 2: the Metropolitan clubs, it's not exactly the University Club. It's
- 7:30Speaker 2: it says exclusive, but it just looks like a Lower
- 7:33Speaker 2: East Side nightclub with a doorman. That's about all it is.
- 7:36Speaker 2: But the Knicks had quite a party there. The parade
- 7:39Speaker 2: through the Canyon of Heroes Thursday starts at Battery Park
- 7:42Speaker 2: ends at City Hall where they have a big ceremony there.
- 7:46Speaker 2: Now it turns out that James Dolan, but well, I
- 7:51Speaker 2: think it was about ten weeks ago. I went into
- 7:53Speaker 2: the locker room and gave them a ten minute pep
- 7:55Speaker 2: talk speech. It was quite moving. You can go online
- 7:58Speaker 2: and see it. Somebody video taped it and it's up online.
- 8:01Speaker 2: It's pretty powerful about what it could mean. You know,
- 8:05Speaker 2: these are all young guys, and he said to them,
- 8:08Speaker 2: you know, I don't know if you really know how
- 8:10Speaker 2: significant this will be receiving the winning the championship. He said,
- 8:16Speaker 2: it will change your lives'll it'll follow you for the
- 8:19Speaker 2: rest of your life. It's a great thing. It was
- 8:21Speaker 2: quite a speech, so I don't know if you understand
- 8:23Speaker 2: what it would mean. It will stick with you for
- 8:25Speaker 2: the rest of your lives. And if you don't win,
- 8:28Speaker 2: you'll be thinking about it for the rest of your life.
- 8:30Speaker 2: But if you win, it'll be life changing. And if
- 8:33Speaker 2: you do win, this team will be belonging up in
- 8:36Speaker 2: the rafters with the nineteen seventy Knicks and the nineteen
- 8:39Speaker 2: seventy three Knicks. It was a pretty powerful speech. And
- 8:42Speaker 2: then he told them he would they would each have
- 8:44Speaker 2: a championship ring. He even said, and I promise you,
- 8:48Speaker 2: I'll buy a ring for each one of your significant
- 8:50Speaker 2: others because their contributions are very important to this team.
- 8:55Speaker 2: That's a pretty generous thing. Now, a championship ring about
- 9:00Speaker 2: two thousand dollars. There's different championship rings, even the World
- 9:04Speaker 2: Series rings. All of that. They're made by Balfour that
- 9:07Speaker 2: makes the college rings, or Jostin's does some teams. Barren
- 9:11Speaker 2: is a new company some teams have used, but it's
- 9:14Speaker 2: the company makes the college rings. They just make a bigger,
- 9:16Speaker 2: fancier one. And sometimes when they make a lot of
- 9:20Speaker 2: these rings for the team and the staff and the coaches,
- 9:24Speaker 2: the player ones are eighteen carrot gold. Those are like
- 9:26Speaker 2: thirty five hundred and four thousand, but the staff ones
- 9:29Speaker 2: are like fourteen carrot gold. Those are like two thousand,
- 9:34Speaker 2: And it's not unusual to give them the wives. In fact,
- 9:36Speaker 2: some years owners George Steinberner would give I mean I
- 9:40Speaker 2: got World Series rings. George Steinberner would give World Series
- 9:43Speaker 2: rings to his friends to There's a lot of restaurants
- 9:47Speaker 2: you can go to where the owners got a World
- 9:48Speaker 2: Series ring because George eight there. They're often given out
- 9:52Speaker 2: all the time, and usually for the wives. Though it
- 9:56Speaker 2: wasn't a ring. It was the top of the ring
- 9:59Speaker 2: on a chain. It was like a necklace. Really beautiful,
- 10:03Speaker 2: but quite a speech from Dolan. So hey, jd Vance,
- 10:09Speaker 2: the vice president. Jd Vance will be on the View today.
- 10:14Speaker 2: Now he's got a book out. That's why you see
- 10:16Speaker 2: him on every show in the world. And he's been
- 10:18Speaker 2: on twenty seven shows in the last two days, and
- 10:20Speaker 2: every time he's on an exclusive interview, exclusive interview. I
- 10:24Speaker 2: just saw on seven shows in one hour, but it's
- 10:26Speaker 2: an exclusive interview. Today he'll be on the View with
- 10:30Speaker 2: those clucking hens. And I guess it's good. It'll create
- 10:37Speaker 2: some viral stuff, I guess, but I can't imagine there's
- 10:40Speaker 2: anybody watching the View who's going to buy a jd
- 10:43Speaker 2: Vance book, So I don't know what the point is.
- 10:46Speaker 2: He's also going to be on Megan Kelly's podcast. Now,
- 10:49Speaker 2: this is interesting because she's in a dilemma here. She's
- 10:55Speaker 2: what's known as a clickhore, do anything to go viral,
- 10:58Speaker 2: anything clicks. That's why she says outrageous things all the time.
- 11:02Speaker 2: They call that a clickhore. There's plenty of those around,
- 11:05Speaker 2: but that's her. So she's got to decide does she
- 11:08Speaker 2: want to really beat them up and go viral and
- 11:12Speaker 2: get her clicks or something. She's trying to worm her
- 11:16Speaker 2: way back into Trump world. She's trying to get back
- 11:19Speaker 2: in the inner circle there. So will she be nice
- 11:22Speaker 2: to them? Will she be mean to them? We'll see,
- 11:24Speaker 2: we'll see. But again, she doesn't have a big audience.
- 11:28Speaker 2: It looks like she does. But again, she's paying for clicks,
- 11:32Speaker 2: paying for likes, paying for followers, all that kind of
- 11:35Speaker 2: stuff everybody, everybody alleges behind the scenes. But she'll be
- 11:41Speaker 2: doing that today. So and the other thing you to
- 11:44Speaker 2: remember the big publishers. If you're a vice president, you
- 11:46Speaker 2: get one of the top publishing companies in the world.
- 11:49Speaker 2: The big publishing houses, their public relations, their PR department
- 11:54Speaker 2: are always the worst, always the worst. That's why all
- 12:00Speaker 2: the great authors. I don't think vance knew this, but
- 12:02Speaker 2: all the great authors hire their own top publicist to
- 12:07Speaker 2: do the publicity because the publisher's publicists. They're all twenty
- 12:11Speaker 2: four years old. They got a list of anything they
- 12:14Speaker 2: can book you on, and they just book you on
- 12:15Speaker 2: anything and everything. But expect some fireworks from the view today.
- 12:20Speaker 2: You don't have to watch it. Just wait till later
- 12:23Speaker 2: and the clips will come out. The Iran deal publicly,
- 12:29Speaker 2: nobody likes it. They don't like the idea of a deal.
- 12:31Speaker 2: They don't like doing it. President Trump says, it'll be good.
- 12:36Speaker 2: You know, you got to trust the guy. He knows
- 12:37Speaker 2: what he's doing. This may be not the final chapter.
- 12:41Speaker 2: This might be a middle chapter. This deal. It's basically
- 12:44Speaker 2: punting down the road for a couple of months. People say,
- 12:49Speaker 2: you know, a lot of people say, well, he's playing chess.
- 12:51Speaker 2: He's a chess player. Well, I don't know if you
- 12:53Speaker 2: know this. Iran invented chess. It was invented in Iran,
- 12:57Speaker 2: so they know how to play chess over there, Dolly.
- 13:01Speaker 6: It's going to be a good relationship and we're going
- 13:02Speaker 6: to get along and if we don't go back to
- 13:06Speaker 6: where we started. But I don't think it's going to
- 13:08Speaker 6: be necessary.
- 13:09Speaker 2: No, that's the key. It may look like a bad deal,
- 13:13Speaker 2: but if that's the case, go right back to bombing
- 13:16Speaker 2: the hell out of them.
- 13:17Speaker 6: He straighten. It's open now, but it opens completely web
- 13:23Speaker 6: all the mines knock out them for the most but
- 13:26Speaker 6: we have a lot of lanes right now already.
- 13:28Speaker 2: Yeah, he opened the straight a couple of weeks ago
- 13:30Speaker 2: for ships we were sneaking him through. Basically, he did
- 13:33Speaker 2: get one hundred million barrels through the straits, which is
- 13:35Speaker 2: why oil is way way down. Hang on, let me
- 13:40Speaker 2: check here. Oil down three dollars again. Today it's at
- 13:43Speaker 2: seventy six dollars, seventy eight dollars a barrel. Seventy eight dollars.
- 13:48Speaker 2: That's down from like one hundred and ten down to
- 13:50Speaker 2: seventy eight. It's dramatically down. Oil is way down, stock
- 13:55Speaker 2: market is way up. Rising to the fourth day in
- 13:58Speaker 2: a row. It's at fifty two thousand. That down. Nobody
- 14:01Speaker 2: ever dreamed they'd ever see fifty thousand. It's at fifty
- 14:05Speaker 2: two thousand. Unbelievable. Hey, by the way, SpaceX two hundred
- 14:11Speaker 2: and seventeen dollars a year. It's up, but don't worry,
- 14:14Speaker 2: they'll be they'll be ups and down. So anyway, the
- 14:16Speaker 2: deal will be signed on Friday and then they'll release
- 14:19Speaker 2: it and let everybody read it.
- 14:20Speaker 6: This is a very powerful document and I want it
- 14:22Speaker 6: to be released. So probably pretty soon, I would say
- 14:26Speaker 6: after some time after Friday.
- 14:28Speaker 2: Yeah, Friday, they're going to sign it in Switzerland. JD.
- 14:32Speaker 2: Vans will fly over there. He was a big part
- 14:34Speaker 2: of the negotiation to sign it.
- 14:36Speaker 6: The heels a sign and these trainers already partially opened.
- 14:40Speaker 6: As you know, they're doing a little hunting for a
- 14:43Speaker 6: couple of minds they've already found, but it's essentially ships
- 14:49Speaker 6: are starting to go out now. On Friday, it'll be
- 14:52Speaker 6: completely opened.
- 14:54Speaker 2: Yeah. So again publicly, I don't think anybody likes the deal. JD.
- 14:59Speaker 2: Vance got his aim all over it as one of
- 15:01Speaker 2: the chief architects negotiators of this debat. You know, if
- 15:05Speaker 2: he wants to run, if it goes badly, then he's
- 15:08Speaker 2: stuck with that. You know, he's got he's got this
- 15:10Speaker 2: on his resume.
- 15:11Speaker 1: Now we'll be releasing the text this week, and what
- 15:13Speaker 1: everybody will see is that Iran doesn't get a dime
- 15:16Speaker 1: of money unless they perform their obligations. And the money
- 15:20Speaker 1: that we're talking about is fundamentally sanctions relief. We're not
- 15:23Speaker 1: giving them American money. Not a single dollar of American
- 15:26Speaker 1: money will go to Iran.
- 15:27Speaker 2: Y all right, so there's gonna be a lot of criticism,
- 15:29Speaker 2: and of course that Obama will be all over the place. Loose.
- 15:33Speaker 2: Is fundamentally innocence the deal that I signed. Yeah, it's
- 15:37Speaker 2: not even close. It's no resemblance. Anyway, We'll take some calls. Next,
- 15:42Speaker 2: eight hundred three to two one zero seven ten is
- 15:45Speaker 2: the number. Eight hundred three to two one zero seven ten.
- 15:50Speaker 2: Get instant access to Mark by setting a pre set
- 15:54Speaker 2: in the iHeartRadio app for his live show and his podcast.
- 15:58Speaker 2: Now back to the Mark Simone show on Well, hey,
- 16:06Speaker 2: I mentioned the parade. I forgot to say. It starts
- 16:09Speaker 2: at ten o'clock and it goes to noon. It ends
- 16:11Speaker 2: at City Hall, and then at noon is a big
- 16:13Speaker 2: This is the important part, the big City Hall ceremony,
- 16:16Speaker 2: the awards, the whole thing, and we're going to broadcast
- 16:19Speaker 2: it live here on w o R. So if you
- 16:23Speaker 2: I wouldn't go down there, it's going to be crazy.
- 16:25Speaker 2: It's gonna be it won't even be able to get close.
- 16:27Speaker 2: That's the part you want to hear, is the awards,
- 16:29Speaker 2: the speeches, all that sort of stuff. But you can
- 16:31Speaker 2: hear that here. We're going to broadcast it live at
- 16:34Speaker 2: noon on Thursday, so be listening. Then let's go to
- 16:39Speaker 2: Chris in Montreal. Chris, how you doing?
- 16:42Speaker 5: I'm doing good?
- 16:43Speaker 2: Mark, Thanks, how are you doing good?
- 16:44Speaker 5: Oh?
- 16:44Speaker 2: This is Chris the Pannikin. You were in Manhattan. What
- 16:47Speaker 2: are you doing? What are you doing in Montreal?
- 16:50Speaker 7: I'm being my girlfriend. She lives here, so I come
- 16:53Speaker 7: three or four times a year now.
- 16:54Speaker 2: And how do you end up dating a woman in Montreal?
- 16:58Speaker 7: Oh, it's complicated. She's Ukrainian and she was waiting for
- 17:01Speaker 7: her pogram.
- 17:02Speaker 2: This sounds like trouble.
- 17:04Speaker 7: Well it's no, it's not trouble. I've been with her
- 17:07Speaker 7: for nine years. But you know, she couldn't get a
- 17:09Speaker 7: court date because of COVID. They kept pressing back to
- 17:12Speaker 7: court days. And she had a son that lived in
- 17:14Speaker 7: Europe and she was losing him and they wouldn't let
- 17:16Speaker 7: her go visit him.
- 17:18Speaker 2: Well, that's understandable. This is real trouble.
- 17:23Speaker 7: Anyway, go ahead, Yeah, Okay, who should we vote for? Like,
- 17:28Speaker 7: I'm a Republican, but years ago somebody told me to
- 17:30Speaker 7: register as a Democrat so I could control the lesser
- 17:33Speaker 7: of all the evils in New York since we're never
- 17:35Speaker 7: going to get a Republican and they're all just running
- 17:37Speaker 7: on Trump Arrangement System syndrome instead, except for the Kennedy Guide,
- 17:41Speaker 7: except for Saburg. Yeah, well, everybody else is gonna fight.
- 17:45Speaker 2: Who should we vote for? You know, that was I
- 17:47Speaker 2: think it was Russia came up with that way back
- 17:49Speaker 2: when he called it operations. Yeah, and he said, you know,
- 17:52Speaker 2: go vote in the other primary there and screw them up.
- 17:55Speaker 2: But uh, you can't vote.
- 17:57Speaker 3: Uh.
- 17:58Speaker 2: You know that Schlosberg is son of Caroline Kennedy, is
- 18:01Speaker 2: a raging lunatic, but he enters the Democratic field and
- 18:04Speaker 2: compared to these guys, he looks normal, so he's very
- 18:07Speaker 2: likely to win. Now. Brad Lander is the Slusburg. Yeah,
- 18:12Speaker 2: he looks normal thought compared to these radical, crazy Democrats.
- 18:15Speaker 2: But I just don't vote for Brad Lander. He's the
- 18:18Speaker 2: most awful, despicable, anti Semitic guy running anywhere. I wouldn't
- 18:24Speaker 2: vote for him. You really, there's really nothing you can
- 18:27Speaker 2: do in the democratic world, you know, the normal guys.
- 18:31Speaker 3: That's why I'm asking.
- 18:33Speaker 2: You know, Scott Stringer would look normal now, but he
- 18:36Speaker 2: has no place in this Uh, hey, as long as
- 18:38Speaker 2: you're up there, tell me about Montreal. Is it a
- 18:40Speaker 2: nice place? Is it as beautiful as Montreal?
- 18:43Speaker 7: Montreal is a wonderful place. I mean it's beautiful. It's
- 18:45Speaker 7: almost like Paris. They're a little crazy with the French.
- 18:47Speaker 7: They want everybody to speak French here, but nobody really
- 18:50Speaker 7: wants to. The food is fantastic. I'm not even into food,
- 18:54Speaker 7: I mean because I have to. But the food is
- 18:56Speaker 7: delicious in every restaurants.
- 18:57Speaker 2: It really is one of their charms.
- 18:59Speaker 7: And the people are nice.
- 19:00Speaker 2: It's colder up there. What is the temperature now? Like
- 19:02Speaker 2: fifty no?
- 19:03Speaker 7: No, no, no, no, it's actually it's warmer here today. I
- 19:05Speaker 7: think it's gonna be it's gonna be like seventy six today.
- 19:07Speaker 7: Oh okay, And yeah, and it's very nice. Montreal is
- 19:12Speaker 7: very nice. There's McGill college here, there's lots of museums.
- 19:15Speaker 7: It's uh, it's beautiful.
- 19:17Speaker 2: All right, all right, it sounds good. All right, have
- 19:19Speaker 2: a good trip there. Thanks for calling, Chris. Hey, where
- 19:21Speaker 2: are the calls? Nobody's calling? That happened once a couple
- 19:24Speaker 2: of months ago. I don't know what that is. Eight
- 19:26Speaker 2: hundred three to two one zero seven ten is the
- 19:30Speaker 2: number eight hundred three two one zero seven ten when
- 19:33Speaker 2: you go to another city, when you go to Montreal,
- 19:35Speaker 2: when you go to Paris, people said, oh, the museums.
- 19:38Speaker 2: I would never go to a museum. I know they
- 19:41Speaker 2: got the Mona Lisa there, But once you're inside the museum,
- 19:45Speaker 2: you're not in Paris anymore. Every museum, you know, go
- 19:47Speaker 2: to the Metropolitan Museum here, it looks exactly the same
- 19:50Speaker 2: inside as the as the museum in Paris or anywhere.
- 19:56Speaker 2: It's like wherever you are in the world, going to McDonald's,
- 19:58Speaker 2: it tastes exactly the same experience the local culture once
- 20:02Speaker 2: you're inside the museum, or once you go inside the
- 20:06Speaker 2: Eiffel Tower and climb up there, you just with a
- 20:09Speaker 2: bunch of tourists, go go hang out with the French,
- 20:11Speaker 2: Go go do actual stuff French people would do instead
- 20:15Speaker 2: of that. But that's what people do anyway. Eight hundred
- 20:20Speaker 2: and three to two one zero seven ten is the number. Hey,
- 20:24Speaker 2: there's Epstein news. We'll get to that coming up. Let's
- 20:28Speaker 2: go to uh Patrick, Let's go to Patrick.
- 20:31Speaker 8: How you doing, Hey, Mark, how are you good? I
- 20:34Speaker 8: spoke to you a while ago about getting You know,
- 20:36Speaker 8: you have great guests on about getting Michael Riedo back on.
- 20:39Speaker 2: You see Hi, Yeah, yeah, we should, we should, we
- 20:42Speaker 2: should get him back on. He's in Florida a lot.
- 20:44Speaker 2: He's been taking it easy.
- 20:46Speaker 8: Yeah, but he owns the play he was talking when
- 20:48Speaker 8: he used to you know, broadcast the Morning Show. He
- 20:52Speaker 8: bought his big apartment down in Lower Manhattan. He got married,
- 20:55Speaker 8: and I know he's got a commitment with like New
- 20:58Speaker 8: York City real estate.
- 20:59Speaker 2: All Right, it's a nice apartment. It's very nice. It's
- 21:02Speaker 2: not that when you say big. It's not like a
- 21:04Speaker 2: Ken Griffin kind of an apartment. But it's good. It's
- 21:06Speaker 2: very good. I think he had a nice apartment. I
- 21:08Speaker 2: think he bought the apartment next door and combined him.
- 21:10Speaker 2: Thanks for Colin. Let's go to Lloyd in Queen's Lloyd.
- 21:13Speaker 2: How you doing well?
- 21:15Speaker 3: First time I'm on with the famous Mark Simon. I
- 21:18Speaker 3: missed you at the Talkies convention the what any wanted?
- 21:23Speaker 3: I said, I missed you at the Talkies convention last
- 21:25Speaker 3: week with Michael Harrison.
- 21:26Speaker 2: Nobody goes to that anymore. That's the thing of the past.
- 21:29Speaker 2: The big thing is Barrett. Now, last time I went
- 21:31Speaker 2: to the Talker's Convention was like half in the parking
- 21:33Speaker 2: lot was like, it's a kind of a sad over
- 21:37Speaker 2: with kind of thing. The new big one is the
- 21:39Speaker 2: Barrett Media Summit that's coming up June thirtieth, July first July,
- 21:44Speaker 2: I said, I think you can get I mean you
- 21:45Speaker 2: can buy tickets. I don't think you have to be
- 21:46Speaker 2: in the radio business. But it's every major figure in
- 21:49Speaker 2: talk radio all in one room. You just go to
- 21:52Speaker 2: Barrettmedia dot Com. And it's in a big, beautiful theater
- 21:55Speaker 2: in the middle of Manhattan. But that's the one you
- 21:58Speaker 2: want to go to. That's the big one. But what
- 22:00Speaker 2: do you want to say, Lloyd?
- 22:03Speaker 3: Let me ask you about what the solution to the
- 22:05Speaker 3: problems we have in New York. We get how are
- 22:07Speaker 3: we gonna have a solutions? There are more problems than
- 22:10Speaker 3: our solutions.
- 22:11Speaker 2: Well, yeah, that's true. Uh well, at some point things
- 22:15Speaker 2: have to turn around. You have to get rid of
- 22:17Speaker 2: all these crazy uh mom Donnie types, these antisemitic types.
- 22:22Speaker 2: You can get rid of all these anti you know,
- 22:26Speaker 2: anti police types. Hey, by the way, you know all
- 22:29Speaker 2: those people that were arrested at the terrible, awful violence
- 22:33Speaker 2: that occurred after the Knicks Victory, you know that burned
- 22:36Speaker 2: the bus and set it on fire, and all the rioters.
- 22:39Speaker 2: They've been arrested, the sixty three arrests. But some people
- 22:44Speaker 2: think that this crazy Alvin Bragg, crazy DA might not
- 22:48Speaker 2: actually prosecute any of them. You might just let him go.
- 22:51Speaker 2: So this is the kind of you gotta get rid of, Mom, Donnie,
- 22:53Speaker 2: you got to get rid of these Alvin Bragg type
- 22:55Speaker 2: crazy DA's Letitia James. He's got a clean house. Go
- 22:59Speaker 2: back to Ray Kelly type, you know, real law enforcement,
- 23:02Speaker 2: that type of public official. Hey, when we come back.
- 23:06Speaker 2: Alan's y Bell, the great writer producer. We'll talk to
- 23:10Speaker 2: him next on seven to ten wor.
- 23:13Speaker 1: News breaks out in every show, Mark Simone on sevent ten.
- 23:18Speaker 2: WOR Well, Hey with us right now. The great writer, producer,
- 23:23Speaker 2: best selling author, and great comedy mind, Alan's y Belle.
- 23:27Speaker 2: Make sure you get his book, Laughlines, his biography. His autobiography,
- 23:32Speaker 2: laugh Lines is a great book. And of course follow
- 23:35Speaker 2: him on Twitter and Instagram and all that stuff. And
- 23:37Speaker 2: you know him from Curby Your Enthusiasm and Saturday Night
- 23:41Speaker 2: Live and a million other things. And he's with us now.
- 23:43Speaker 2: Alan's y Bell.
- 23:44Speaker 5: How you doing I'm great, Mark, How are you.
- 23:47Speaker 2: I'm good. Hey, your friend Larry David. I didn't know
- 23:50Speaker 2: he was such a Knicks fan until I saw him
- 23:52Speaker 2: in the front row a couple of nights.
- 23:54Speaker 5: I got to tell you something, I've known him since
- 23:56Speaker 5: nineteen seventy three. I didn't know he was that great
- 23:59Speaker 5: an extent also, okay, but when you're Larry David and
- 24:03Speaker 5: you're in town and you can get courtside, why not
- 24:07Speaker 5: you know? He and the Post for a couple of
- 24:10Speaker 5: days was quoting him and his conversation with mc and
- 24:14Speaker 5: roe and all of that. It was so much fun
- 24:16Speaker 5: to see him.
- 24:17Speaker 2: Yeah, some of those celebrities, I think, are you know,
- 24:19Speaker 2: they're not relevant, so they know if they sit in
- 24:21Speaker 2: the front row suddenly they'll be relevant again. Like I
- 24:23Speaker 2: don't want to mention Mace and Roe or by whoever,
- 24:25Speaker 2: but there were a lot of guys there haven't done
- 24:28Speaker 2: anything in ten years sitting there.
- 24:30Speaker 5: Well, you know something, I think it's a perk of
- 24:34Speaker 5: being famous, So you know, I think it's worthy of
- 24:39Speaker 5: having their faces on TV. But I think you can
- 24:42Speaker 5: tell the fans from the people who are there, just
- 24:45Speaker 5: like cosmetically.
- 24:46Speaker 2: I think you're right. Yeah, and why would you want
- 24:48Speaker 2: to sit in that front row. I'm looking at the
- 24:50Speaker 2: President Trump, He's sitting in the suite, He's in this
- 24:53Speaker 2: big leather reclient. It looks so luxurious. Down on the floor,
- 24:57Speaker 2: you're in a folding chair getting sweat thrown all over
- 25:00Speaker 2: you from these players. Why would you want that?
- 25:03Speaker 5: You know, I've sat in the seats a number of times,
- 25:06Speaker 5: usually the guests of somebody. I couldn't do it myself, Okay,
- 25:10Speaker 5: so I would go with Billy Crystal, I would go
- 25:12Speaker 5: a million years ago with Guilda Rob Reiner. And it's
- 25:18Speaker 5: thrilling at first, and then you realize that you're knee
- 25:22Speaker 5: high pull all the players that I'm going back and forth.
- 25:26Speaker 5: You go, wait a second, I'm not seeing a lot
- 25:29Speaker 5: of suff It's only when they get down to the
- 25:33Speaker 5: other end of the court that you see them do stuff,
- 25:36Speaker 5: and you go, wait a second. It's a better game
- 25:38Speaker 5: at home. I can watch it at home.
- 25:42Speaker 2: It's like NASCAR, you know. If people are sit in
- 25:45Speaker 2: the front row. First of all, you go death all
- 25:46Speaker 2: that noise, but you can't see anything. You got to
- 25:49Speaker 2: be up high and look down to really understand what's happening.
- 25:52Speaker 5: So absolutely and you're really high, and you look the
- 25:55Speaker 5: super Bowl. I've never been to a super Bowl, okay,
- 25:58Speaker 5: so maybe I'd like to experience one. But you know,
- 26:02Speaker 5: look the party the night before great and you'll be
- 26:05Speaker 5: amongst all those fans and the hoopla of it. But
- 26:08Speaker 5: once again, if if you're home, you see it from
- 26:12Speaker 5: a thousand different angles, and there's replays and close ups
- 26:15Speaker 5: and whatever, you know, and you can also go to
- 26:18Speaker 5: the bathroom and not miss anything. So you know that's
- 26:22Speaker 5: where I am.
- 26:24Speaker 2: Oh Alan's bell. Last time we talked to you. We're
- 26:26Speaker 2: still working on the Rodney Dangerfield Broadway show. How's that coming?
- 26:30Speaker 5: Yes, I am. It's on hold right now because I've
- 26:33Speaker 5: finished No no, no, no, it's on hold because I
- 26:35Speaker 5: finished the latest draft and the producers are going over
- 26:39Speaker 5: it and I'm sure I'm going to get a battery
- 26:40Speaker 5: of notes. But you know, it's still viable. And I
- 26:44Speaker 5: also have a movie that I co wrote with Barry
- 26:49Speaker 5: Levinson that Barry's going to direct, so I think they
- 26:53Speaker 5: have the funding and now we're going to go out casting.
- 26:55Speaker 2: Oh great, now, Rodney Dangerfield. Everybody loves them on TV,
- 26:58Speaker 2: the funny, charming, you know, grandfatherly to now. In real life,
- 27:02Speaker 2: Rodney was quite a wild guy and a lot different
- 27:06Speaker 2: than that character. Is that going to be coming out
- 27:08Speaker 2: in this Broadway show?
- 27:10Speaker 5: It has to be in order to be honest, and
- 27:12Speaker 5: I think it helps his story that he overcame whatever
- 27:16Speaker 5: liabilities were in his life, whatever deficiencies there were, bad
- 27:20Speaker 5: parents and this and that, and for him to triumph
- 27:24Speaker 5: the way he did by using his comedy, I think
- 27:29Speaker 5: it's a very triumph and very very winning story. So
- 27:32Speaker 5: it has to be.
- 27:33Speaker 2: Yeah, but the Rodney, the wild Rodney. Is there going
- 27:37Speaker 2: to be a little of that in there too?
- 27:39Speaker 5: Yes? Sure, good, Sure. The producer bought the rights to
- 27:43Speaker 5: Rodney's autobiography, and in it, Rodney goes into great detail
- 27:49Speaker 5: about his not only his demons, but his vices. And
- 27:54Speaker 5: it's really interesting because I'll, you know, I'll run into
- 27:57Speaker 5: somebody and the the last week what I'm up to,
- 28:02Speaker 5: and I'll say, you know, I'll tell him about the
- 28:04Speaker 5: Rodney thing, and they'll go, oh, you're going to include
- 28:06Speaker 5: about how we walked around on the streets of New
- 28:09Speaker 5: York at noon with in pajamas. So people know this stuff,
- 28:14Speaker 5: you know, So yeah, And often it was the bathrobe
- 28:18Speaker 5: and he didn't quite tie the thing around his waist enough.
- 28:21Speaker 5: I think that might have been on purpose, but I
- 28:23Speaker 5: don't know. I'm not sure.
- 28:26Speaker 2: Hey, everybody should follow Alanswybel on Twitter. Good stuff there.
- 28:31Speaker 2: I see there's a picture you with Sebastian Manuscalco, who's
- 28:34Speaker 2: probably would you would you agree maybe the biggest comedian
- 28:37Speaker 2: in the world right now? Stand up comedian?
- 28:39Speaker 5: Well yeah, I mean he's amongst them. You know, you
- 28:41Speaker 5: got John Mulaney, you know, you got Chappelle, But you
- 28:45Speaker 5: got certain guys who can fill out any venue for
- 28:49Speaker 5: multiple nights, and he's certainly high up there.
- 28:54Speaker 2: Yeah, but last time it was the Garden. It was
- 28:55Speaker 2: two shows a night for multiple nights. I don't know
- 28:58Speaker 2: anybody does two shows the night at the Garden.
- 29:00Speaker 5: Well, you know something, We went because I had not
- 29:02Speaker 5: seen him in person before, and we got these great seats.
- 29:06Speaker 5: We got a box the sixth throw and you look
- 29:09Speaker 5: behind you, and you look up and you look down
- 29:11Speaker 5: and you go, my god, this is Madison Square Garden.
- 29:15Speaker 5: And he did a show this afternoon, and they held
- 29:18Speaker 5: him over a couple of nights. It's just unbelievable.
- 29:21Speaker 2: Now, explain his delivery to me. He's the funniest guy
- 29:24Speaker 2: in the world. That's fascinat because every comedian is louder,
- 29:26Speaker 2: they're aggressive or there. His delivery, his voice gets so
- 29:31Speaker 2: tiny at times. How does he do that?
- 29:34Speaker 5: I think you're absolutely right, Mark, there's a lot of
- 29:37Speaker 5: inflection and you can almost feel the words the way
- 29:41Speaker 5: that he delivers them. You know, he does this routine
- 29:47Speaker 5: about going to a satyr for the first time, where
- 29:51Speaker 5: you sit down with a thousand people and then you
- 29:55Speaker 5: wait two hours to eat, and he compares it to
- 29:59Speaker 5: it a that the minute is any smell is wafting
- 30:03Speaker 5: into that into that room, people are like scavengers, you know,
- 30:08Speaker 5: and you know, and not only is it true, but
- 30:12Speaker 5: it's really really funny his attitude about it. There's a
- 30:16Speaker 5: little hint of bewilderment, you know. So I think that
- 30:19Speaker 5: that's very very uh infectious. I think people respond to that.
- 30:25Speaker 2: Yeah, but you know, any committee would be loud, like
- 30:27Speaker 2: Seinfeld will go two hours or Chris Rock till hours,
- 30:30Speaker 2: but he says two hours. It's very How does he
- 30:34Speaker 2: do that? It's a it's an incredible talent.
- 30:37Speaker 5: It's an incredible talent, and it's an incredible choice that
- 30:40Speaker 5: he made. I'm not saying that it's calculated. He could
- 30:43Speaker 5: very well. I never met him, so that could be
- 30:45Speaker 5: his natural demeanor. But it's in an era where people
- 30:51Speaker 5: sometimes raise their voice for emphasis. He went the other way,
- 30:54Speaker 5: either naturally or by design. And you listen in and
- 30:58Speaker 5: you're not And you know, I hit over the head
- 31:00Speaker 5: by it.
- 31:01Speaker 2: Yeah, it's fascinating. But hey, Ellen's bow, were you teaching
- 31:04Speaker 2: at Princeton?
- 31:06Speaker 5: I was teaching at Princeton, and next I guess about it.
- 31:11Speaker 5: Next spring, I'll be teaching at Columbia, teaching at Yeah,
- 31:16Speaker 5: it's it's a shorter driver. I live right over the
- 31:18Speaker 5: bridge in New Jersey, so you know. But it's one
- 31:21Speaker 5: day a week, and it was really interesting. It was
- 31:27Speaker 5: really interesting too because these Princeton students. The course was
- 31:33Speaker 5: in something. All right, I hope you're sitting down. It's
- 31:36Speaker 5: called it was epistolary.
- 31:39Speaker 2: Literature Specialty too. What the hell is that?
- 31:43Speaker 5: Yeah? No, no, no, no, I know it is. That's why
- 31:44Speaker 5: I brought it up. Well, what that means is any
- 31:49Speaker 5: kind of car It's correspondence, it's mail between two people
- 31:53Speaker 5: and that and you know what I mean, it's dialogue
- 31:56Speaker 5: between a letter writer and a letter receiver and back
- 32:00Speaker 5: and fourth and they asked me if I would teach that.
- 32:06Speaker 5: I said, you bet, and then I googled what that
- 32:09Speaker 5: meant after I accepted the job. But it was fascinating
- 32:13Speaker 5: for me. The Princeton students look obviously, they're really really smart.
- 32:18Speaker 5: You know, they go to Princeton for God's sake. It
- 32:21Speaker 5: was a past failed course. But the kids were so
- 32:27Speaker 5: math oriented, technology oriented computers AI where there's an exactitude okay,
- 32:36Speaker 5: you know two and two are always equals four. For
- 32:38Speaker 5: me to teach writing where they allowed to use their imagination,
- 32:45Speaker 5: go outside the lines, create something that doesn't exist right now.
- 32:50Speaker 5: It took about three or four classes for them to
- 32:52Speaker 5: loosen up a little bit. It was really fascinating.
- 32:55Speaker 2: Yeah that sounds great. Well we'll get back to this
- 32:58Speaker 2: next thing. We're out of time. But that's fascinating stuff.
- 33:01Speaker 2: Everybody get Alan's white Bell's book, Laugh Lines. It's a
- 33:04Speaker 2: wonderful book with a lot of laughs and a lot
- 33:06Speaker 2: of great stories. And make sure you follow him on
- 33:09Speaker 2: Twitter and his Instagram is great, and go to Alan.
- 33:12Speaker 2: It's Allanswhitebell dot com. Right your website, right, that's right,
- 33:16Speaker 2: Alanswhitebell dot com Alan's ye bell, thanks for being.
- 33:20Speaker 5: With us, Thanks for having me.
- 33:21Speaker 2: Mark take here all right, take care. Hey, we've got
- 33:24Speaker 2: a lot coming up. Don't forget. Buck and Clay will
- 33:26Speaker 2: be here at noon today with a great show right
- 33:29Speaker 2: here on seven to ten WR back.
- 33:33Speaker 7: To Marshamore on wor.
- 33:39Speaker 2: Hey, I got a lot to get to In the
- 33:41Speaker 2: next hour. We'll get back to the Knicks. We'll get
- 33:43Speaker 2: to the parade, which will bring to you live. Actually,
- 33:46Speaker 2: not the parade. The praise is not the important part.
- 33:48Speaker 2: The parade is just a ticker tape falling. But then
- 33:51Speaker 2: it ends at City Hall and that's where they'll have
- 33:53Speaker 2: the big ceremony. That's the part you want to hear.
- 33:55Speaker 2: So we'll broadcast that live at noon on Thursday. You
- 34:00Speaker 2: get to hear the whole ceremony from city Hall. Now,
- 34:04Speaker 2: don't go away, I'll be back right after the news.
- 34:06Speaker 2: Mark Simone here ten to noon every day on seven
- 34:09Speaker 2: to ten WO
