- 0:33SPEAKER_00: We're back with another high-level wife espresso shot.
- 0:37SPEAKER_00: This is frustrations reveal expectations.
- 0:41SPEAKER_00: It's gonna be a quick one because we got a lot going on right now.
- 0:44SPEAKER_00: But have you ever noticed how quickly frustration rises?
- 0:48SPEAKER_00: The dishes weren't done, he forgot something, the kids interrupted you, plans changed.
- 0:53SPEAKER_00: But here's what I've learned through this is that frustration is often revealing an expectation.
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: Now, sometimes that expectation is healthy, or sometimes it's unspoken, or sometimes it's unrealistic.
- 1:05SPEAKER_00: But sometimes it's actually become an idol.
- 1:09SPEAKER_00: James tells us that what causes quarrels and fights among you is it not this that your passions are at war within you?
- 1:16SPEAKER_00: James 4-1.
- 1:17SPEAKER_00: Conflict usually starts long before words are spoken.
- 1:21SPEAKER_00: It starts in the heart, right?
- 1:23SPEAKER_00: The last couple espresso shots here were teaching you about what you focus on, right?
- 1:29SPEAKER_00: What you look for, your brain's gonna validate and look for the evidence of that.
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: Conflict usually starts long before words are spoken.
- 1:36SPEAKER_00: It starts in the heart.
- 1:37SPEAKER_00: So instead of asking, why am I so frustrated?
- 1:41SPEAKER_00: Try asking instead, what expectation did I have?
- 1:45SPEAKER_00: And actually, in high level wife, we train you to put off expectations.
- 1:50SPEAKER_00: Why we do that and how we do that.
- 1:52SPEAKER_00: But then you need to ask yourself, did I communicate it?
- 1:55SPEAKER_00: Is it biblical?
- 1:56SPEAKER_00: Or do I simply want life to go my way?
- 2:00SPEAKER_00: God often uses frustration to expose where he's inviting us to surrender.
- 2:07SPEAKER_00: Stuttering Stanley here.
- 2:09SPEAKER_00: Um, you know, and that's the cool thing about God is God is big enough that he invites us and wants us to bring our frustrations to him.
- 2:17SPEAKER_00: We don't need to perfectly package or manicure ourselves before God.
- 2:20SPEAKER_00: He wants our whole heart, our real heart, our authentic heart.
- 2:23SPEAKER_00: He already knows it, anyways.
- 2:25SPEAKER_00: Go read James 4, 1 through 10 today.
- 2:28SPEAKER_00: Ask the Lord to reveal any expectations that are competing with his will.
- 2:33SPEAKER_00: And remember, surrender brings peace where control never can.
- 2:38SPEAKER_00: This was a high level wife espresso chat.
