- 0:00Speaker 1: What's up, everyone, and welcome to another episode of the
- 0:03Epstein Chronicles. In this episode, we're going to pick up
- 0:06where we left off with the Bill Gates interview with
- 0:09Congress question referring back to Exhibit D, if I could,
- 0:13I would just like to walk through some of the
- 0:15entries which refer to you and meetings that you had
- 0:17according to this document with Jeffrey Epstein. So I'm looking
- 0:21at the top the entry for Wednesday February twenty seventh,
- 0:24twenty thirteen. There's a reference to an appointment from two
- 0:28to three thirty pm with you at the Four Seasons.
- 0:31Do you recall having a meeting with mister Epstein at
- 0:34the Four Seasons on that date? Discussion off the record,
- 0:38back on Gates. Yeah, the only thing we show on
- 0:41February of that year, which you know, my calendar has
- 0:44kept pretty precisely. All we show is a skype call
- 0:47on I believe February twenty seventh. Oh no, okay, we're
- 0:51in twenty thirteen. That's funny because there was a skype
- 0:56call in twenty fourteen on February twenty seven, So I
- 0:59apologize that confused me. No, it looks like there was
- 1:02a meeting at the Four Seasons on the twenty seventh,
- 1:04then at dinner later that night at Epstein's residence in
- 1:07New York City. Sorry, question, no problem. I appreciate the clarification.
- 1:12I'll walk through those in a moment, just for clarity
- 1:15of the record. The skype call that we discussed a
- 1:18few minutes ago that took place during February of twenty fourteen. Answer,
- 1:22that's right, and I looked and saw February twenty seventh,
- 1:26and I thought that must be it. But that's just
- 1:29a mistake I made February twenty seventh. What my calendar shows,
- 1:33and I'm sure it's correct, is that I met with
- 1:35him at Four Seasons during the day, and that there
- 1:37was a dinner at his house that night. Question. Okay, so,
- 1:41with respect of Four Seasons meeting on February twenty seventh,
- 1:44twenty thirteen, who other than yourself was in attendance at
- 1:48that meeting if anyone? Answer? I mentioned that I think
- 1:52that there was a time that even Dubin and a
- 1:54friend came by, but they weren't part of the meeting,
- 1:56but they were at the meeting. Question do you recall
- 1:58the name of miss Dubin's friends. Answer, I don't question,
- 2:02and again the topic of discussion at that meeting. Answer,
- 2:05you know you're getting to that period where there's a
- 2:08lot of focus on whether money can be raised for
- 2:10global health, so that would have been the primary topic. Question.
- 2:15Just looking at a couple of entries on February twenty seventh,
- 2:18there's a notation twelve twenty pm and apologies, I'm almost
- 2:22certainly going to mispronounce this name redacted for the court
- 2:25reporter redacted to arrive JFK by Virgin Atlantic three and
- 2:30at the end of the entry it says four Seasons
- 2:32to meet up with you, referring to Epstein at two
- 2:34pm discussion off record. Back on question, do you recall
- 2:40an individual by that name attending the four Seasons meeting? Answer?
- 2:45No question? And then the ten to fifteen PM meeting
- 2:49were reflected in this calendar that I understand correctly took
- 2:51place at mister Gate's residence. Answer, no question, I'm sorry
- 2:56mister Epstein's residence. Answer, I don't think there was ten
- 3:00to fifteen meeting. I thought it was earlier than that
- 3:03question and was that at dinner? Answer? I think so? Yes.
- 3:08Question and do you recall who attended that dinner. Answer.
- 3:11I think that was another time where Terry Rod Larsen
- 3:14and Jaguline Thorborn Jaglind is his last name, Thorborne Jaglind
- 3:18attended the dinner, and that's also the dinner where he
- 3:21invited us over and David Blaine came and did a
- 3:24few magic tricks. Question you were asked in a previous
- 3:28round about the presence of young women during these various interactions.
- 3:31Do you recall any young women being present at mister
- 3:34Gates' home on the evening of February twenty seventh. Answer
- 3:38mister Epstein's home, not my home. When David Blaine did
- 3:42his magic trick or tricks, there was one of those
- 3:45ADMIN people standing around as that was being done, but
- 3:48I was not introduced to her. Question. Moving ahead chronologically,
- 3:52the entry for February twenty eighth, again referring to Exhibit D,
- 3:57starts with the notation reminder Bill Gates and New New York,
- 4:01and then further down at two pm tentative appointment with
- 4:04Bill Gates. Do you recall another meeting with Jeffrey Epstein
- 4:08at two pm on that date? Answer? No, I didn't
- 4:11meet with him on that day. Mister Clare did not.
- 4:14Gates did not question and were you still in New
- 4:18York on February twenty eighth or had you left? Answer?
- 4:22I was probably there. Question and then moving ahead to
- 4:25the entry for Friday, March first, twenty thirteen, there's a
- 4:28notation one pm lunch with Bill Gates and Woody Allen.
- 4:32Do you recall having lunch with mister Epstein and Woody Allen? Answer?
- 4:36I never met Woody Allen. I did not ever have lunch,
- 4:39so this never took place. Question and then immediately blow TBD.
- 4:44Maybe fly to PB today tonight, Bill Gates to fly
- 4:47with you maybe? And for question marks assuming pom Beach
- 4:51refers to Palm Beach, did you fly to Palm Beach
- 4:54with mister Epstein on March first? Answer? Yeah, March first
- 4:58or second? I did? Yes? Question What was the purpose
- 5:02of the trip upon Beach? Answer? It was just to
- 5:04mister Epstein, you know, was seeking more time to talk
- 5:07to me, and I was going to Wellington, Florida to
- 5:09see my daughter. So he suggested, because I had a
- 5:12very full schedule, that we fly together at upon Beach,
- 5:15which we did. It was not his seven twenty seven
- 5:18but we flew on a different plane to pon Beach.
- 5:21Question a private plane, I take it? Answer a private plane,
- 5:24And I don't know if he owned it or chartered
- 5:26it or whatever, but it was a gulf Stream, not
- 5:29the well known seven to twenty seven that was Epstein's
- 5:32other plane, by the way. Question was anyone else on
- 5:34the flight with you? Answer? Yeah, he had. Of course
- 5:38there was a pilot on the flight presumably question presumably
- 5:41and hopefully yes. Answer and I believe that there were
- 5:44two ADMIN assistants who sat in the first cabin during
- 5:47the flight. Question Okay, were you introduced to either of
- 5:50those admint assistants? Answer? I was not. Question were they
- 5:53both female? Answer yes, question relatively young? Answer, I wouldn't
- 5:59say that they were underaged. I think there was a
- 6:02photo taken we could look at, but they appeared to
- 6:04be adult women to me. Did you have any understanding
- 6:08that Jeffrey Epstein had a relationship of any kind with
- 6:11either of those women beyond an employment relationship? Answer no.
- 6:16Question Did you witness any sexual activity or sexual abuse
- 6:19on that plane? Answer never? Question And when you got
- 6:24to pom Beach, did you stay with Jeffrey Epstein at
- 6:26his house. Answer, I did not. I never went to
- 6:29his pom Beach house. As soon as the plane landed,
- 6:32my security team met me there and I went to
- 6:34another location in Florida, which is Wellington. Question and was
- 6:39this trip to Palm Beach the only time that you
- 6:41flew on a plane with Jeffrey Epstein? Answer? That's right.
- 6:45Question you referred during the previous round with the majority.
- 6:48If I understood correctly that you met at some point
- 6:51in twenty thirteen with Jeffrey Epstein in Paris, France, is
- 6:55that correct? Answer? Yes? Question okay, What was the purpose
- 6:59of that trip? Answer? I was in Paris for other things,
- 7:04and there was an afternoon where I went over to
- 7:06I think a place that he owned in Paris, and
- 7:09I spent a few hours with him that afternoon. Question
- 7:12and what did you discuss with him that afternoon? Answer?
- 7:15You know, the substantive discussion would have been about the
- 7:18possibility of raising money philanthropically. You know, we possibly touched
- 7:22on I think the French Open was going on at
- 7:24the time. Question was anyone else present in the apartment
- 7:28during your meeting? Answer? Yeah, I mean there were definitely
- 7:31a staff people there, including a chef who cooked a
- 7:33lot of food and served it to us at a
- 7:35time when we weren't hungry, and I forget. I think
- 7:38doctor Nikolich was there. I don't think mister Cohen was there,
- 7:42but yes there was a meeting. Question. Is the name
- 7:45Jean Luke Brunell familiar to you? Answer? Through the press only?
- 7:49Question do you recall mister Brunell being present at that meeting? Answer?
- 7:53He was not. I never met him. Question. I'm going
- 7:55to ask the court reporter to mark exhibit E an
- 7:58email from mister Nickolitch to y you, dated June eighth,
- 8:01twenty thirteen, and for the record, the email thread bears
- 8:04the BAITS number e FTA zero zero eight seven, three,
- 8:09three nine zero through ninety two. Mister Gates, do you
- 8:13recall this email? Answer? I have a recollection. Yes. Question
- 8:17you referred, as I remember during the first hour to
- 8:20an invitation that was extended to you while you were
- 8:23in Paris, which you declined. Does this email thread refer
- 8:26to that invitation? Answer? It does. Question just a couple
- 8:29of questions about the substance of the exchange. I'm looking
- 8:34at mister nikolaicch email to you on the page that
- 8:37bears the Baits number ninety one. At the end the
- 8:40second page of this exhibit, he writes, have you ever
- 8:43been in Legendary Crazy Horse in Paris? It's one of
- 8:47those erotic, upscale, elegant shows. It's fun if you have
- 8:50never been, And then skipping to the end of the email,
- 8:53most likely we can go after backstage and meet some artists,
- 8:57as Jeffrey dated a few of them. Then you're applying
- 9:00the next email up above for eighteen PM. I will
- 9:04be too tired to do this and wouldn't want to
- 9:06take the risk. What risk exactly were you referring to here? Answer?
- 9:11I think in general going to a show of erotic
- 9:13nature is I just don't choose to do that. I
- 9:15don't think it would be helpful for my reputation. In
- 9:18my early twenties, I probably went to a show like
- 9:21that once or twice. But here I'm saying that I
- 9:24believe it would be a mistake for me to accept
- 9:26this invitation. You know, just another example of where there
- 9:30was kind of an attempt to draw me into a
- 9:31more social relationship question and you had concerns about potential
- 9:35reputational harm in the event that you were spotted. Answer
- 9:39right and it wasn't consistent with the relationship I had
- 9:41with Epstein. We never did anything of an entertainment or
- 9:45relaxing nature, and so this would have been a change
- 9:47in the relationship that I chose to make. Question was
- 9:51there anything specific to Jeffrey Epstein that led you to
- 9:54not want to attend his event? Answer? Yeah, I guess.
- 9:58Not only is my appearing at in a rock event
- 10:00to risk my reputation, it would be compounded by appearing
- 10:03with somebody who, although I didn't know the full extent
- 10:06of it, had been convicted of a sexually related crime.
- 10:10Question and was that on your mind when you wrote
- 10:12this reply to mister Nikolic? Answer? Certainly. Question, mister Gates,
- 10:17I have no more questions for the moment, but I
- 10:19understand that some of our members have questions for you
- 10:21at this point. Question, and before we turn it over
- 10:24to our members, for those new members who just arrived,
- 10:27can you please introduce yourself for the record. Congresswoman Emily Randall, Washington,
- 10:33sixth District, yasamin An Sorry, Arizona's third District, Rocana, California.
- 10:39Tim Burchett, Tennessee. Do we have to do this every
- 10:42time we walk in mister Adak did not every time,
- 10:46mister Burchett, Okay, cool, all right, thank you, Missus Stansbury,
- 10:50Melanie Stansbury, New Mexico's first Garcia. Great, thank you, Thank you,
- 10:55mister Gates. Thanks for being here today and for your
- 10:58cooperation in answering questions. Obviously, this investigation for us is
- 11:02about getting to Jeffrey Epstein's crimes, accountability and justice for
- 11:06the survivors. I think you acknowledge that at the start.
- 11:09I have a couple of questions, but I wanted to
- 11:12also just ask you. Look, I think everyone recognizes that
- 11:16you've built incredible companies, your foundation, the work that's happened
- 11:19across the world. You've done an enormous amount of good
- 11:22for a lot of people globally, and so I do
- 11:24want to recognize. I want to recognize that, and it's
- 11:28appreciated because we're looking to get justice and having an
- 11:31investigation that, at the end of the day is about survivors.
- 11:35In your interaction with mister Ebstein in which you describe
- 11:38some and you will throughout the day as we seek
- 11:41to get a better understanding of how we can learn
- 11:44exactly what happened and who is responsible, can you suggest
- 11:47and you are incredibly brilliant person. Obviously in your interactions
- 11:51with mister Ebstein, could you suggest or do you have
- 11:54any suggestions of who are people within his orbit, whether
- 11:58they were assistants, you may have interacted with staff, you
- 12:01may have seen that we should be asking questions to
- 12:04get additional information. If you were given the committee some
- 12:08thoughts about folks that we should be talking to in
- 12:11this investigation, is there anyone that you could suggest or
- 12:14that you would suggest, whether you remember their names or not,
- 12:17but folks within Jeffrey Epstein's orbit that could have information
- 12:20vital to the investigation gates You know, I'm really not
- 12:24sure because his illegal activity didn't come up and weren't
- 12:28happening when I was ever there, And I mentioned that
- 12:31my second dinner just day and Larry Summers were present,
- 12:34and I've said in subsequent dinners the two Norwegian gentlemen
- 12:37were present. Later on in twenty fourteen, as I pushed
- 12:41Epstein on who were these people that he had this
- 12:44close professional relationship relative their taxes and their will and
- 12:48therefore that they might be doing philanthropically, he had me
- 12:52meet with a number of them. But I don't want
- 12:54to cast any aspersion on those men because I don't
- 12:57have specific knowledge of any of these men's bad behavior,
- 13:00but you know, those were some of the people who
- 13:02were around, and you know, part of the reason that
- 13:05I foolishly spend time with Epstein was seeing those other
- 13:08well known people in his orbit that had an influence
- 13:11on me. But I'm not blaming them, and I do
- 13:13feel bad that my spending time with them may have
- 13:16furnished his reputation to some degree. All right, folks, we're
- 13:20going to wrap up right here, and in the next episode,
- 13:22we're going to pick up where we left off. All
- 13:24the information that goes with this episode can be found
- 13:27in the description box.
