- 0:21Speaker 1: We'll talk some college football with Lucy Rodin coming up
- 0:23Speaker 1: here in about 10, 15 minutes or so. Taylor, what
- 0:27Speaker 1: is happening here at WEEI? Boston fans have had a
- 0:31Speaker 1: rough go of it over the last, I don't know,
- 0:33Speaker 1: 48 hours or so. What is happening in Boston? Although
- 0:36Speaker 1: I would say, Since the year 2000, no city has
- 0:39Speaker 1: had a better run than Boston over the last 25,
- 0:42Speaker 1: 26 years. But the last 48 hours have been brutal.
- 0:46Speaker 1: So what is going on at WEEI?
- 0:48Speaker 2: Yeah, it's more of a what have you done for
- 0:50Speaker 2: me lately when you're in that Boston market. And Cam
- 0:52Speaker 2: Schlittler shoves the Red Sox in a locker, one of
- 0:55Speaker 2: their own.
- 0:55Speaker 3: Doing it to him.
- 0:56Speaker 2: And then today on the Greg Hill Show, featuring hosts
- 1:00Speaker 2: Greg Hill and Jermaine Wiggins, they reported a potential rift.
- 1:06Speaker 2: Between Drake May and head coach Mike Vrabel, this was
- 1:10Speaker 2: their sound.
- 1:11Speaker 4: What?
- 1:11Speaker 3: Between him and the head coach?
- 1:13Speaker 4: I don't know. Wiggy and I were whispered to about this.
- 1:16Speaker 4: We talked about it yesterday. On this very show yesterday,
- 1:20Speaker 4: we talked about being whispered to about an issue between
- 1:25Speaker 4: the head coach and the quarterback, which goes back, I guess,
- 1:28Speaker 4: maybe if you believe this individual who's an insider.
- 1:31Speaker 3: I mean, he's very much an insider. He's plugged in.
- 1:34Speaker 4: And it goes back to.
- 1:36Speaker 3: They won.
- 1:37Speaker 4: Despite what Mike Vrabel may have said publicly, it goes
- 1:41Speaker 4: back to Drake May not being his guy.
- 1:44Speaker 3: And he is.
- 1:45Speaker 5: I mean, he is Mike Vrabel.
- 1:47Speaker 4: Mike Vrabel is a his guy kind of coach.
- 1:51Speaker 3: Yep.
- 1:51Speaker 5: So, I mean, he wants– he's gone since he got here.
- 1:55Speaker 4: He's gone out and gone and gotten all of his guys.
- 1:59Speaker 3: So, listen, I don't– I have no idea.
- 2:04Speaker 5: It seems like– What?
- 2:05Speaker 3: I just– Yeah.
- 2:09Speaker 1: Sports Radio 101 right there. What are your thoughts on that, Taylor?
- 2:15Speaker 2: This would be rich from Mike Vrabel coming out all
- 2:18Speaker 2: of a sudden and saying, Drake May isn't my guy.
- 2:21Speaker 2: He's trying to create a schism between him and Drake May.
- 2:24Speaker 5: Right.
- 2:25Speaker 1: Coming off the worst game of Drake May's career where
- 2:28Speaker 1: everyone is questioning whether or not he forgot how to
- 2:31Speaker 1: play the game of football and the position of quarterback.
- 2:34Speaker 1: Last year in the Super Bowl, he seemed like he
- 2:36Speaker 1: was a Mike Rabel guy, Drake May.
- 2:38Speaker 3: You know?
- 2:42Speaker 5: I'm sitting here and I got this big smile on
- 2:44Speaker 5: my face because all of this unhappiness couldn't have happened
- 2:48Speaker 5: without Couldn't happen to a better franchise for it to
- 2:51Speaker 5: happen to.
- 2:52Speaker 3: To a better city.
- 2:53Speaker 5: All of the winning, all of the winning that they
- 2:56Speaker 5: had through from my late teens through my 20s and 30s.
- 3:01Speaker 5: You know what? At some point, the bill has to
- 3:04Speaker 5: come due. So I'm very happy about this. My next
- 3:07Speaker 5: question for Mike Vrabel, if this is indeed the case.
- 3:11Speaker 5: What is a Mike Vrabel guy at quarterback? Because I'm
- 3:13Speaker 5: going to tell you the quarterbacks that he's had. Marcus Mariota.
- 3:17Speaker 1: Yep.
- 3:18Speaker 5: Ryan Tannehill.
- 3:19Speaker 4: Yep.
- 3:19Speaker 5: Josh Dobbs.
- 3:20Speaker 3: Yes.
- 3:22Speaker 5: Will Levis.
- 3:22Speaker 3: Yes, but he chose those guys.
- 3:25Speaker 5: Maybe you don't know what your guy is because you've
- 3:28Speaker 5: never had one that did any good.
- 3:30Speaker 1: Right.
- 3:30Speaker 5: And my last question for you guys would be this.
- 3:34Speaker 5: Your ownership. There is a rift between Mike Vrabel. And
- 3:41Speaker 5: Drake May. Whose side do you take him?
- 3:46Speaker 3: I mean, Drake May's?
- 3:49Speaker 2: I think it's clear you take Drake May's side in this.
- 3:51Speaker 2: When you have what looks like a franchise quarterback, and
- 3:54Speaker 2: I know people still do the, it was Drake May
- 3:57Speaker 2: against the schedule last year. Drake May played a ton
- 3:59Speaker 2: of backup quarterbacks. Drake May was still the runner-up for
- 4:02Speaker 2: the MVP award and got a team to a Super
- 4:05Speaker 2: Bowl despite poor performances in the playoffs. Mikey, to answer
- 4:09Speaker 2: your second question, what's a Mike Vrabel guy? I don't
- 4:12Speaker 2: think Mike Vrabel wants a bona fide QB1 star quarterback.
- 4:17Speaker 2: I think he wants the attention on his defense, and
- 4:19Speaker 2: then his quarterback is a quarterback that's not going to
- 4:22Speaker 2: put the ball in harm's way and play a more
- 4:25Speaker 2: safe style of football. I think if Mike Vrabel had
- 4:28Speaker 2: his choice of any quarterback right now in the NFL...
- 4:31Speaker 2: I think he looks at somebody like Jacoby Brissett and goes,
- 4:34Speaker 2: that's the guy I.
- 4:34Speaker 3: Want to win. I can win with that guy, yes.
- 4:36Speaker 3: He did it with Ryan Tannehill.
- 4:37Speaker 1: I mean, they didn't win it all, but he went
- 4:38Speaker 1: deep into the playoffs with Ryan Tannehill, who was a
- 4:41Speaker 1: wide receiver in college.
- 4:45Speaker 3: That's his kind of guy.
- 4:46Speaker 2: And this is kind of similar to what Dan Orlovsky
- 4:51Speaker 2: was saying on first take, where Dan Orlovsky was making
- 4:54Speaker 2: the argument that he hasn't lost confidence in Drake May,
- 4:57Speaker 2: and he was kind of comparing– Drake May struggles now
- 5:00Speaker 2: to Trevor Lawrence's rough 2024 before Liam Cohn got to
- 5:04Speaker 2: Jacksonville and helped kind of rebuild Trevor Lawrence as the
- 5:07Speaker 2: quarterback that we're seeing today. His concern is less about
- 5:10Speaker 2: May individually and more about the May and Mike Vrabel pairing,
- 5:14Speaker 2: which he's beginning to lose confidence in. And I think
- 5:17Speaker 2: there's something there when you have a franchise quarterback, you
- 5:21Speaker 2: should pair him with an offensive-minded coach like what Chicago
- 5:24Speaker 2: did in Caleb Williams and Ben Johnson to kind of
- 5:27Speaker 2: maximize your potential there.
- 5:29Speaker 1: But if you're Mike Vrabel, he can't be your guy
- 5:32Speaker 1: when he's taking you to the Super Bowl, when he's
- 5:34Speaker 1: taking you to a game within winning it all. And
- 5:37Speaker 1: then the second things go the other way, you don't
- 5:40Speaker 1: even say it yourself.
- 5:41Speaker 3: There are whispers to host a WEEI.
- 5:44Speaker 1: That the relationship is fractured, it is strained, and Vrabel's
- 5:48Speaker 1: upset because Drake May is not a Vrabel guy.
- 5:50Speaker 3: You can't do that. That's a terrible job by Mike Vrabel.
- 5:53Speaker 3: It is.
- 5:54Speaker 1: You can't do that after the worst game of the
- 5:56Speaker 1: kid's career. Show some confidence in the kid.
- 5:58Speaker 3: How about that? You're the head coach. I mean, Jesus.
- 6:02Speaker 3: You don't agree, Mike?
- 6:04Speaker 5: No, I'm sitting there going, Mike Vrabel's defense just gave
- 6:07Speaker 5: up 35.
- 6:07Speaker 1: Yes.
- 6:10Speaker 3: Jacksonville.
- 6:10Speaker 5: Like last I checked, they got a pretty good OC
- 6:14Speaker 5: over there. Who's supposed to be handling the offense.
- 6:17Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 6:17Speaker 5: So the whole Dan Orlovsky, Oh, you need to pair
- 6:20Speaker 5: him with a good offensive coach. They have Josh McDaniel.
- 6:23Speaker 5: Who's probably one of the best offensive coordinators in football.
- 6:27Speaker 3: That's right.
- 6:28Speaker 5: He's a terrible head coach. Let's get that out of
- 6:30Speaker 5: the way. He's a terrible head coach, but he's probably
- 6:32Speaker 5: one of the better offensive minds in football. So I
- 6:35Speaker 5: don't think that's the problem.
- 6:37Speaker 1: I just can't believe you have, after what he did
- 6:39Speaker 1: for you, you have an organization who is starting to
- 6:42Speaker 1: question the rookie quarterback that they drafted.
- 6:44Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying? Like, it's just, to me,
- 6:47Speaker 3: it's an odd stance. It's an odd whisper.
- 6:49Speaker 1: It's an odd thing to hear an odd rumor that
- 6:51Speaker 1: their relationship is fractured just nine months after playing in
- 6:56Speaker 1: a Super Bowl as a quarterback and a coach.
- 6:59Speaker 3: To me, that is just, it's odd. It's Rabel, and
- 7:01Speaker 3: it's bad.
- 7:02Speaker 2: And when you're watching Drake May's struggles this year, nobody
- 7:04Speaker 2: can deny the fact that Drake May looks like a
- 7:06Speaker 2: shell of the quarterback that he was at points last season.
- 7:09Speaker 4: Yep.
- 7:10Speaker 2: If you went around to the NFL and you asked
- 7:12Speaker 2: every team, would you want Drake May to be your quarterback?
- 7:15Speaker 6: Yes.
- 7:16Speaker 2: I think a majority of them are still taking Drake May.
- 7:19Speaker 2: If you go to Kevin O'Connell right now in Minnesota
- 7:21Speaker 2: and say, hey, Drake May or whatever combination you want
- 7:25Speaker 2: of Carson Wentz or Kyler Murray, Kevin O'Connell would drive
- 7:29Speaker 2: to New England himself, pick up Drake May, and drive
- 7:32Speaker 2: back to Minnesota.
- 7:33Speaker 1: Mike, are you thinking what I'm thinking? Why do we
- 7:35Speaker 1: always use Kevin O'Connell as the example?
- 7:36Speaker 2: Because his quarterbacks always stink.
- 7:38Speaker 3: His quarterbacks always stink. I know, but he whispers bad
- 7:41Speaker 3: things into their ears.
- 7:41Speaker 5: He gets the most out of terrible quarterbacks. All right,
- 7:45Speaker 5: so let me ask you guys this. What's the line?
- 7:47Speaker 5: What's the line of somebody that would say, I'd rather
- 7:49Speaker 5: stick with what I have than take Drake May? Because
- 7:52Speaker 5: let's not forget, Drake May wasn't great his rookie year.
- 7:55Speaker 5: He was really good last year with the schedule caveat
- 7:58Speaker 5: and the fact that it was under Josh McDaniels and
- 8:01Speaker 5: Mike Vrabel. And he, so far this year, doesn't look
- 8:05Speaker 5: below average. He looks downright bad. So I ask you,
- 8:08Speaker 5: what's the line where a coach would say, I think
- 8:11Speaker 5: I would take Drake May over what I currently have?
- 8:14Speaker 5: Does Mike McDonald do it in Seattle? Just beating Drake
- 8:18Speaker 5: May with Sam Darnold.
- 8:20Speaker 3: No, he'd stay with Sam Darnold. He would.
- 8:23Speaker 1: I'm not saying he'd be right in staying with Sam Darnold.
- 8:25Speaker 1: I'm just saying he'd stay with Sam Darnold because Sam
- 8:28Speaker 1: Darnold beat Drake May and won him a Super Bowl.
- 8:31Speaker 5: Injury aside, Todd Bowles, Baker Mayfield.
- 8:34Speaker 3: Well, you just paid Baker Mayfield.
- 8:36Speaker 5: Right.
- 8:38Speaker 3: If money wasn't an issue.
- 8:39Speaker 5: Put it in a vacuum.
- 8:40Speaker 3: Exactly.
- 8:41Speaker 2: I think Drake May is a better quarterback than Baker Mayfield.
- 8:44Speaker 2: At their best.
- 8:45Speaker 5: I disagree.
- 8:45Speaker 2: At their best.
- 8:46Speaker 5: Hmm.
- 8:48Speaker 3: I mean, Bowles probably wouldn't do it. The Colts would
- 8:52Speaker 3: do it, right? Daniel Jones, that's an easy one.
- 8:55Speaker 4: Yes.
- 8:55Speaker 3: I'm trying to think, because the line is a good question.
- 8:58Speaker 3: Where is the line? Is Brock Purdy?
- 9:02Speaker 5: Oh, you got to tip. Brock Purdy is a really
- 9:05Speaker 5: good quarterback. I'm sure that if you put Drake May
- 9:08Speaker 5: in that system, he would make him look really good.
- 9:10Speaker 5: But I would take what I know with how good
- 9:13Speaker 5: Brock Purdy can be.
- 9:13Speaker 2: You can't risk Brock Purdy leaving your building when Brock
- 9:16Speaker 2: Purdy's playing like this.
- 9:17Speaker 3: No, I understand that. But Brock Purdy was a late-round pick.
- 9:20Speaker 1: Kyle Shanahan is probably the quarterback whisperer, okay? And he's
- 9:25Speaker 1: probably thinking to himself, man, if I did that with
- 9:27Speaker 1: a late-round pick, imagine what I could do with Drake May,
- 9:30Speaker 1: you know?
- 9:30Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 9:31Speaker 2: But with Brock Purdy too, it might just be like
- 9:33Speaker 2: a mis-evaluation. Like how long into Tom Brady's career would
- 9:36Speaker 2: we be saying Tom Brady was a late round pick
- 9:39Speaker 2: before it just like, okay, Tom Brady very clearly has
- 9:42Speaker 2: the talent of a first round quarterback.
- 9:43Speaker 3: Can I give you a few options here, Mikey? Jalen Hurts, Eagles.
- 9:48Speaker 5: I'm taking Jalen Hurts.
- 9:49Speaker 3: So am I.
- 9:50Speaker 5: I mean, I don't, I personally, I, I think you
- 9:53Speaker 5: need the right coach around Jalen Hurts. That's going to,
- 9:57Speaker 5: force him to be the quarterback that he needs.
- 10:00Speaker 3: To be.
- 10:00Speaker 5: But I still think he's uber talented. Cowboys, Dak Prescott.
- 10:04Speaker 5: Dak Prescott. It's Dak.
- 10:06Speaker 3: All right. I'm trying to find the line. Don't yell
- 10:08Speaker 3: at me.
- 10:09Speaker 5: Stay in that division, though. Stay in that division.
- 10:12Speaker 3: Jaden?
- 10:13Speaker 5: No.
- 10:14Speaker 4: No?
- 10:14Speaker 2: I have the line, I think.
- 10:15Speaker 4: Jackson?
- 10:16Speaker 2: I think it's Jackson Dart and the Giants, where he's
- 10:18Speaker 2: coming back from an injury, and you're saying, do you
- 10:21Speaker 2: trust Jackson Dart to be the same quarterback he was?
- 10:25Speaker 2: and then some, because Jackson Dart still has to grow
- 10:27Speaker 2: into being a franchise quarterback. It seems like Drake May
- 10:30Speaker 2: has at least proven through one year against down competition, albeit,
- 10:37Speaker 2: that Drake May could be a franchise quarterback if you
- 10:40Speaker 2: put the right pieces around it.
- 10:42Speaker 5: I put Jaden Daniels in there, too. I mean, Jackson
- 10:45Speaker 5: Dart and Jaden Daniels are both really good when they play,
- 10:51Speaker 5: and they just don't play nearly enough.
- 10:53Speaker 3: Bo Nix? Oh, Sean Payton.
- 10:56Speaker 5: Give me Bo Nix. No, no, I'm on the opposite.
- 11:00Speaker 5: Bo Nix.
- 11:00Speaker 3: Wow, look at this. I found the guy. There you go.
- 11:04Speaker 3: There's your line.
- 11:05Speaker 2: I think this is a good one just because Drake
- 11:08Speaker 2: May has tools that Bo Nix could work for the
- 11:11Speaker 2: next 10 years and he won't have the same traits
- 11:14Speaker 2: as Drake May as a quarterback. And I think somebody
- 11:17Speaker 2: like Sean Payton, when you combine Davis Webb at offensive coordinator,
- 11:21Speaker 2: They're going to want the most talented quarterback, and they'll
- 11:24Speaker 2: figure out how to deal with the turnover issues that
- 11:26Speaker 2: Drake May currently has.
- 11:28Speaker 3: Case Keenum?
- 11:32Speaker 5: How dare you after that line?
- 11:34Speaker 3: I think I found the exact line, though. Jared Goff.
- 11:39Speaker 5: No, Jared Goff.
- 11:40Speaker 3: He's better?
- 11:44Speaker 5: I'll say it this way. I don't think they would
- 11:46Speaker 5: make that deal. I'll say it that way. I'm not
- 11:49Speaker 5: saying he's better. I'm just saying I think the Lions would... Taylor,
- 11:55Speaker 5: I'm looking at Bo Nix. Bo Nix beats really good teams.
- 11:58Speaker 3: He does, in the second half.
- 11:59Speaker 5: You can say whatever you want about X, Y, and Z.
- 12:03Speaker 2: Bo Nix beat a lot of really good teams last season.
- 12:07Speaker 2: He has a defense, though, that led the NFL in sacks.
- 12:10Speaker 2: The defense is doing a lot of the work there
- 12:12Speaker 2: where your offense just kind of has like a magic
- 12:14Speaker 2: number of probably like 17, 20 points, and you're going
- 12:17Speaker 2: to win most games. Mikey, some of these teams that
- 12:19Speaker 2: we're mentioning, like the Lions or the Broncos, If we
- 12:23Speaker 2: were having this conversation at the trade deadline last year for.
- 12:26Speaker 3: The NFL, they all would have done it.
- 12:28Speaker 2: They all would have done it. And now just because
- 12:30Speaker 2: Drake May has had a rough seven game stretch, you're
- 12:33Speaker 2: saying that you wouldn't trade Drake May for Jared Goff?
- 12:36Speaker 3: That seven game stretch included a Super Bowl appearance. Anyway,
- 12:39Speaker 3: go ahead. Sorry.
- 12:41Speaker 5: It goes back to your Cam Schlittler thing where at
- 12:44Speaker 5: some point. the sample size needs to be big enough
- 12:47Speaker 5: for you to decide who you, for us to decide
- 12:50Speaker 5: who you are. Cam Schlittler, when you made that thing,
- 12:53Speaker 5: I didn't think the sample size was big enough. So
- 12:55Speaker 5: I laughed at the take. Now the sample size is
- 12:57Speaker 5: big enough that I go, damn, Taylor was right. At
- 13:00Speaker 5: some point with Drake May, the sample size is getting
- 13:02Speaker 5: bigger and it's getting worse.
- 13:04Speaker 3: All right.
- 13:04Speaker 1: So is there a quarterback? We all agree that the team,
- 13:07Speaker 1: like I'm trying to find the line. We haven't found
- 13:09Speaker 1: it with Bo Nix. We haven't found it with Jared Goff.
- 13:12Speaker 1: Are we going to find it? I guess maybe it's
- 13:14Speaker 1: Jackson Dort, right? Because I do think the Giants would
- 13:16Speaker 1: do that, right?
- 13:17Speaker 5: By the way, I just flipped Taylor's argument against him
- 13:21Speaker 5: while complimenting him, and I'm just so proud of myself.
- 13:23Speaker 3: I noticed it.
- 13:24Speaker 5: I have a potential line.
- 13:26Speaker 3: I have a potential line, Stu. Okay, give it to us.
- 13:30Speaker 2: You're the Green Bay Packers, New England calls, and they
- 13:33Speaker 2: offer you one-for-one Jordan Love for Drake May. It's not
- 13:36Speaker 2: working with Love and LeFleur. Let's switch things up before
- 13:40Speaker 2: we switch out the head coach.
- 13:41Speaker 5: LeFleur is gone, not Love.
- 13:43Speaker 4: Yes.
- 13:44Speaker 3: Yeah, but would you do it?
- 13:45Speaker 1: But if you ran the Packers and you were offered
- 13:47Speaker 1: Drake May for Love, regardless of the coach, would you
- 13:49Speaker 1: do it?
- 13:52Speaker 5: I might do it. Again, if we're doing like with
- 13:55Speaker 5: contract and all that stuff, yeah, I'd probably do it
- 13:58Speaker 5: just because of all that. But if we're talking like
- 14:02Speaker 5: apples to apples, same contract, same everything, I'd probably stay
- 14:06Speaker 5: with Jordan Love.
- 14:08Speaker 1: Let's talk some college football with Lucy Rodin. I got
- 14:11Speaker 1: an idea for Rabel. How about you coach the kid
- 14:13Speaker 1: up instead of killing him when he's down?
- 14:15Speaker 3: How's that sound? Lucy Rodin, college football next. She is
- 14:29Speaker 3: the host of.
- 14:29Speaker 1: The College Football Happy Hour, along with her friend Jessica Smetana.
- 14:33Speaker 3: She loves when I introduce her properly.
- 14:35Speaker 1: She also started by saying before we started taping here,
- 14:39Speaker 1: it's never been a better time to be me.
- 14:42Speaker 3: Hello, Lucy. Hi.
- 14:45Speaker 5: How are you?
- 14:46Speaker 6: I've never been better. This has been... It is insane
- 14:50Speaker 6: the way that like your favorite team winning changes your life.
- 14:53Speaker 6: Like I'm walking down the street, like there's like background
- 14:56Speaker 6: music playing. I feel like I'm in a movie montage.
- 14:59Speaker 6: I'm like, how do you do?
- 15:00Speaker 3: Hello.
- 15:01Speaker 5: And it's New York.
- 15:02Speaker 6: And they're like, literally shut up. Please don't speak to me.
- 15:05Speaker 6: I'm like skipping, dancing through the streets. It's never been better.
- 15:09Speaker 3: Were you at the Iowa Michigan game? Were you there?
- 15:12Speaker 6: I was not. So I was one. I did predict
- 15:17Speaker 6: Iowa to win. Now, Sue, I have to tell you something.
- 15:19Speaker 4: Okay.
- 15:20Speaker 6: So this was a game in which Iowa got insanely lucky.
- 15:25Speaker 6: And if you're familiar with Iowa football, that never happens.
- 15:29Speaker 6: That happens against Iowa. That does not happen to Iowa.
- 15:31Speaker 3: It happens to Michigan.
- 15:32Speaker 6: Yeah. People are looking for an explanation, and I have one.
- 15:37Speaker 6: The night before the game, I dog sat for a
- 15:40Speaker 6: couple who's a Michigan fan. And I found some Michigan
- 15:43Speaker 6: napkins and I lit them on fire and I did
- 15:45Speaker 6: witchcraft to them. And then Iowa got super lucky. And
- 15:48Speaker 6: I don't think that's a coincidence. I'm not kidding at all.
- 15:53Speaker 3: Wait, now you have to do something like that every game,
- 15:55Speaker 3: don't you?
- 15:56Speaker 6: I'm not even kidding you. Right before when I was
- 15:58Speaker 6: waiting for you guys to get on the call, I
- 16:00Speaker 6: Amazon ordered Ohio State napkins. which I will, like, it's
- 16:04Speaker 6: literally up right now.
- 16:07Speaker 3: That's their next opponent. Yes, I see it.
- 16:10Speaker 2: Lucy, can you take me into your emotional state, the
- 16:13Speaker 2: final drive where Iowa gets the ball? It's first and
- 16:16Speaker 2: 10 from the Iowa nine. They need to go 91
- 16:19Speaker 2: yards in a minute and 37 seconds. And in my
- 16:22Speaker 2: lifetime as a college football fan, I cannot remember Iowa
- 16:26Speaker 2: going 91 yards in that short amount of time ever.
- 16:30Speaker 6: At that point, I was like texting a bunch of
- 16:33Speaker 6: people and I just kept saying, I'm going to light
- 16:35Speaker 6: myself on fire. Like that was just all I was saying.
- 16:38Speaker 6: And I said it quite a bit. And so at
- 16:41Speaker 6: that point I had changed outfits like three times and
- 16:46Speaker 6: I was often said not done much up until then.
- 16:48Speaker 6: So I was just like, whatever, man, I'm just going
- 16:50Speaker 6: to watch, just going to watch this and my life's
- 16:52Speaker 6: going to be miserable. And Michigan fans are going to
- 16:54Speaker 6: give me so much hell. And then After the like crazy,
- 16:59Speaker 6: a string of catch that just, I know that was
- 17:02Speaker 6: because me, because of what I did, because I did
- 17:04Speaker 6: a lot of stuff on fire, which is really hard
- 17:06Speaker 6: to do in a studio apartment, by the way, but
- 17:08Speaker 6: I made it work.
- 17:09Speaker 3: Right. And dangerous.
- 17:10Speaker 1: Right.
- 17:10Speaker 6: Very dangerous. It fell onto my counter. I said, well,
- 17:14Speaker 6: security deposits gone. That after the, a string of catch,
- 17:20Speaker 6: I was like, there was no, until the final play,
- 17:22Speaker 6: there was never a point that I thought I would win. Like,
- 17:25Speaker 6: Even with the two seconds left, I was like, we're
- 17:27Speaker 6: not going to be able to do this. I know us.
- 17:29Speaker 6: This is going to be so painful. And then when
- 17:31Speaker 6: we won, it was just like an immediate– I really
- 17:35Speaker 6: couldn't believe what happened. So I was just like yelling.
- 17:37Speaker 4: Right.
- 17:38Speaker 6: And I had like a thousand FaceTimes and– it was
- 17:43Speaker 6: one of those things that it genuinely took probably like
- 17:46Speaker 6: 25 minutes after the game for me to like fully
- 17:48Speaker 6: grasp like, Oh my God, Iowa won. And they won
- 17:50Speaker 6: because of me.
- 17:53Speaker 3: You're the MVP. Do they know what you've done for them, Iowa?
- 17:57Speaker 6: I mean, seriously, I don't know if they've known this.
- 18:00Speaker 6: So I mentioned this on the college football happy hour,
- 18:02Speaker 6: the latest episode, which is out now. And then I
- 18:05Speaker 6: have been like debating a way to take this public and,
- 18:08Speaker 6: Because one, I do believe I deserve to be like
- 18:11Speaker 6: applauded for my work.
- 18:12Speaker 3: So do I.
- 18:13Speaker 6: But also I don't, I am being very, very specific
- 18:17Speaker 6: about what I'm saying because I took a ton of napkins.
- 18:20Speaker 6: I only lit one on fire. I did other stuff
- 18:22Speaker 6: to other ones. I don't want anyone to do what
- 18:26Speaker 6: I did to Iowa. So I'm being really smart about
- 18:29Speaker 6: not saying the exact witchcraft I did. I'm not even
- 18:33Speaker 6: sure you guys, I would, it was like two hours
- 18:35Speaker 6: Friday night of me just like doing shit.
- 18:37Speaker 3: I love this.
- 18:38Speaker 6: I was like, It's either going to work or it's not.
- 18:40Speaker 6: And then it did work. And so now I have
- 18:42Speaker 6: the Ohio State napkins coming in, but I can't tell
- 18:44Speaker 6: you guys everything I did because I don't want someone
- 18:46Speaker 6: to go buy Iowa napkins and do this to me.
- 18:49Speaker 2: Lucy, College Game Day is headed to Iowa City for
- 18:52Speaker 2: the first time in 20 years. I think your contributions
- 18:55Speaker 2: have put you in the top spot for who should
- 18:58Speaker 2: be the guest picker. If it's not you, which we
- 19:03Speaker 2: all agree it should be.
- 19:04Speaker 3: It should be, yes.
- 19:04Speaker 2: Who do you think it should be?
- 19:06Speaker 5: Hmm.
- 19:07Speaker 6: So I put together a list because Iowa hasn't had
- 19:09Speaker 6: game day in so long. So if the Fever lose
- 19:14Speaker 6: to the Aces, then they will be eliminated and it
- 19:17Speaker 6: should be Caitlyn. So if it's not Caitlyn, and let's
- 19:19Speaker 6: just assume the Fever win, my like Ashton Kutcher was
- 19:23Speaker 6: Iowa's last game day picker, which this one was like
- 19:26Speaker 6: so rude. They were at Iowa State and there just
- 19:28Speaker 6: aren't enough like famous Iowa State fans that they got
- 19:31Speaker 6: an Iowa fan to do the game day pick, which
- 19:33Speaker 6: was like the most disrespectful thing I've ever seen.
- 19:35Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 19:36Speaker 6: So he could do that. I think the other options
- 19:40Speaker 6: are Jake Johnson, Nick Miller from New Girl went to
- 19:43Speaker 6: Iowa for a few years. I learned this week that
- 19:46Speaker 6: Jason Momoa is from Iowa.
- 19:48Speaker 3: From Iowa.
- 19:50Speaker 4: Right.
- 19:51Speaker 6: That's crazy.
- 19:52Speaker 3: Yes.
- 19:52Speaker 6: I'm trying to think of who else I put. Maybe
- 19:56Speaker 6: they'll do like Kate Martin or Lisa Bluter. I think
- 19:59Speaker 6: they'll probably go with Dallas Clark or big E the wrestler.
- 20:03Speaker 3: Wow. But you feel like it should be you.
- 20:05Speaker 5: Correct.
- 20:06Speaker 3: Is that, is that fair?
- 20:07Speaker 6: I don't necessarily as someone who has like, been outspoken
- 20:10Speaker 6: the last few weeks about game day. I don't feel
- 20:12Speaker 6: like it should be me. I feel like they should
- 20:14Speaker 6: be like, yeah, but I do think they should invite
- 20:16Speaker 6: me and I do think they should pay for me
- 20:18Speaker 6: to go.
- 20:19Speaker 3: Okay. Lucy was me.
- 20:20Speaker 6: They could do a segment with me.
- 20:21Speaker 3: It was me one weekend.
- 20:24Speaker 6: That's insane.
- 20:26Speaker 1: Well, it was supposed to be a rod and JLo,
- 20:27Speaker 1: but they canceled and they were already in South Florida.
- 20:30Speaker 3: So they just came to my house and did it.
- 20:32Speaker 3: I was thrilled to do it. It was great. I mean,
- 20:34Speaker 3: but they canceled.
- 20:36Speaker 1: Those cameramen woke up thinking they were going to J-Lo's house.
- 20:39Speaker 3: They ended up in Stugatz's house.
- 20:42Speaker 6: It could be J-Lo. I know that sounds crazy.
- 20:44Speaker 3: Really?
- 20:45Speaker 6: Her kid goes to Iowa.
- 20:47Speaker 3: What?
- 20:47Speaker 1: Why?
- 20:48Speaker 5: I know.
- 20:50Speaker 6: It makes no sense. Her child goes to Iowa.
- 20:56Speaker 3: Put it on the poll.
- 20:58Speaker 1: J-Lo's kid who goes to Iowa, is she lost?
- 21:04Speaker 3: It's so great.
- 21:06Speaker 1: We have some Lucy or Gooseys for you.
- 21:08Speaker 3: What were you guys saying real quick? Listen, I'm thinking here, we.
- 21:12Speaker 1: Bring Reese Davis on and we badger him into getting
- 21:15Speaker 1: Lucy on college game day.
- 21:16Speaker 3: You guys down with that? What do you think, Mikey?
- 21:18Speaker 3: Should we do it?
- 21:18Speaker 5: Yeah? Yeah, sure.
- 21:22Speaker 3: You don't want to.
- 21:25Speaker 6: Guess what, Mike? I'm about to do witchcraft on you next.
- 21:28Speaker 6: You better be careful.
- 21:30Speaker 5: So, Lucy, it's funny you say that because I always
- 21:33Speaker 5: thought I was a Michigan fan.
- 21:35Speaker 4: Right.
- 21:35Speaker 5: For years, I'm like, if somebody asked me who's my
- 21:37Speaker 5: college team, I'd tell them Michigan.
- 21:39Speaker 3: You would.
- 21:39Speaker 5: And then I've been doing some soul searching because when
- 21:42Speaker 5: Iowa won, I wasn't upset. And then I realized I
- 21:45Speaker 5: don't love Michigan. I just hate Ohio State that much. Yeah.
- 21:49Speaker 5: That I found myself rooting for Michigan just because that
- 21:52Speaker 5: would bother Ohio State that much.
- 21:56Speaker 6: I respect that.
- 21:57Speaker 3: Okay.
- 21:57Speaker 6: I respect that a lot. Oh, God.
- 22:00Speaker 1: Lucy, what were you guys saying, you and Taylor, right
- 22:02Speaker 1: before we started here about when you see someone wearing
- 22:05Speaker 1: an opposing team's hat or just any team's hat, Alabama,
- 22:08Speaker 1: South Carolina– What do you say to them when you're
- 22:11Speaker 1: passing them in public?
- 22:12Speaker 3: What do you guys do?
- 22:14Speaker 6: Well, it depends on the team. If it's Alabama, I
- 22:16Speaker 6: say roll tide. If it's Texas Tech, I say guns up.
- 22:20Speaker 6: It depends on the team. I go with their little saying. Now,
- 22:23Speaker 6: there are some that, like, I won't do that. Like,
- 22:25Speaker 6: I'm not going to walk past a Michigan fan and
- 22:26Speaker 6: say go blue. Also, there's a Michigan fan every, like,
- 22:29Speaker 6: 30 feet in New York. It's actually really annoying. And
- 22:33Speaker 6: so it's only if I'm in the mood to be
- 22:35Speaker 6: chatty and then they're like, oh, my God, are you
- 22:38Speaker 6: a fan? Did you go there? I say no. And
- 22:40Speaker 6: they're like, so why did you do all this? I
- 22:42Speaker 6: just wanted to chat.
- 22:44Speaker 2: Lucy, I know when the shoe is on the other foot.
- 22:46Speaker 2: When I'm wearing a North Carolina shirt and somebody gives
- 22:48Speaker 2: me a Go Heels, basically makes my day. So if
- 22:51Speaker 2: I could even repay that a little bit for somebody else,
- 22:54Speaker 2: I'll drop a Go Tigers if I see somebody wearing
- 22:56Speaker 2: an LSU shirt.
- 22:57Speaker 3: Who cares?
- 22:58Speaker 6: It means so much to me. And the difference is, though,
- 23:02Speaker 6: as queen of the world right now, it gives me
- 23:05Speaker 6: so much pride because– If I see someone in an
- 23:08Speaker 6: Alabama shirt and I say roll tide, whatever, that's the
- 23:10Speaker 6: end of the interaction. If someone sees me in an
- 23:12Speaker 6: Iowa shirt, we're talking about our families. We're there for
- 23:15Speaker 6: 35 minutes. It is never like a quick thing. So
- 23:18Speaker 6: there have been times where like I have been in
- 23:20Speaker 6: the airport like, hey, I don't have a lot of
- 23:23Speaker 6: time for my next flight. I see someone in an
- 23:24Speaker 6: Iowa shirt. I can't say anything because I know I'm
- 23:27Speaker 6: going to miss my flight if I just say go
- 23:29Speaker 6: Hawks because that's how every interaction goes.
- 23:32Speaker 5: Right.
- 23:32Speaker 3: You could tell them you have a flight to catch.
- 23:33Speaker 6: I mean– Even then they're going to like they're going
- 23:37Speaker 6: to say goodbye to you and they're going to ask
- 23:38Speaker 6: you one more question. And you're going to find out, oh,
- 23:40Speaker 6: my God, our dad went to the same high school.
- 23:43Speaker 6: And then which literally happened to me last week. And
- 23:44Speaker 6: it's just going to keep going. And then you miss
- 23:46Speaker 6: your flight.
- 23:47Speaker 1: Taylor, this is my fear that if you do that,
- 23:48Speaker 1: it will morph into a larger conversation that you can't
- 23:51Speaker 1: get yourself out of, you know?
- 23:52Speaker 2: Yeah. But the worst situation is when you drop like
- 23:55Speaker 2: say somebody is wearing a North Carolina hat at the
- 23:57Speaker 2: airport and I drop a go heels to them. And
- 24:00Speaker 2: they look around like, was that to me? And I'm like, yeah,
- 24:03Speaker 2: you're wearing the hat. And the guy just brushed it
- 24:05Speaker 2: off the shoulder like he just picked out this random
- 24:08Speaker 2: Yankee hat.
- 24:11Speaker 6: Yeah, that one's brutal.
- 24:12Speaker 1: By the way, if Carolina was still undefeated, would College
- 24:14Speaker 1: Game Day be in North Carolina this weekend?
- 24:16Speaker 3: Yes?
- 24:17Speaker 6: Yeah, they said they would.
- 24:18Speaker 3: They would. Instead, we're stuck with Bill Belichick.
- 24:22Speaker 6: Too bad. It's just, like, messed up. Go to Iowa.
- 24:25Speaker 6: You'll have so much fun.
- 24:27Speaker 3: You could have been on College Game Day, Taylor.
- 24:29Speaker 2: Oh, wow.
- 24:29Speaker 3: That would have been a lot.
- 24:31Speaker 2: Lucy, we had this debate yesterday, and I felt so
- 24:33Speaker 2: alone because I consider myself college football. Mikey and Stu Gatz,
- 24:38Speaker 2: they casually watch college football. They were making the argument
- 24:42Speaker 2: yesterday that if Lincoln Riley got fired from USC, he
- 24:46Speaker 2: wouldn't be that desirable as either an offensive coordinator or
- 24:50Speaker 2: as a head coach because of his– Okay, frame it
- 24:53Speaker 2: how you framed it then.
- 24:54Speaker 1: Well, Mikey and I just said as a head coach.
- 24:56Speaker 1: As an OC, I could see it happening.
- 24:57Speaker 5: As a head coach.
- 24:59Speaker 4: Yes.
- 24:59Speaker 5: He's not getting a top-level job as a head coach.
- 25:03Speaker 5: What do you consider a top-level? He could go to
- 25:04Speaker 5: a top-level program as an offensive coordinator.
- 25:07Speaker 2: What do you consider a top-level program?
- 25:08Speaker 3: A job like USC. He's not going to get a
- 25:10Speaker 3: job like that.
- 25:10Speaker 2: But if Rhett Lashley leaves SMU, do you think he
- 25:13Speaker 2: would get consideration at SMU?
- 25:18Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 25:19Speaker 4: Yeah. If.
- 25:21Speaker 2: Texas Tech.
- 25:22Speaker 3: Are you asking us or Lucy?
- 25:24Speaker 2: I'm asking you guys to try to figure out the line,
- 25:26Speaker 2: because now you guys are starting to walk back the take.
- 25:28Speaker 5: I'm not walking back the take at all. Time out.
- 25:30Speaker 5: He's not getting an SEC job.
- 25:31Speaker 3: You're walking it back right now. No, we're not walking
- 25:33Speaker 3: it back, Taylor.
- 25:34Speaker 1: We both said, I remember it vividly, it was 24
- 25:37Speaker 1: hours ago, we both said that Lincoln Riley would get
- 25:40Speaker 1: a job as an OC, maybe even in the NFL.
- 25:43Speaker 1: He would never get a head coaching job like the
- 25:46Speaker 1: one he has now, and SMU is not the job
- 25:48Speaker 1: that he has right now.
- 25:49Speaker 2: Okay, what if Joey McGuire leaves Texas Tech, do you think,
- 25:53Speaker 2: Texas Tech calls Lincoln.
- 25:54Speaker 5: Riley, Mikey? I think he's their third call.
- 26:01Speaker 3: I think he's in the conversation. What do you think?
- 26:03Speaker 5: I think he's in the conversation. I think they aim higher.
- 26:06Speaker 5: What do you think, Lucy?
- 26:11Speaker 6: I would say they'd probably call Brett Lashley before they
- 26:13Speaker 6: call Lincoln Riley there. But, like, Lincoln Riley is going
- 26:17Speaker 6: to be the head coach at Maryland next year or maybe, like,
- 26:24Speaker 6: NC State. Like, there are going to be so many
- 26:27Speaker 6: mid-level jobs open that, like, Get ready to learn Under Armour.
- 26:31Speaker 1: I guess.
- 26:31Speaker 3: You're going to Maryland.
- 26:33Speaker 2: Mike, Lucy, what you don't understand is I'm going to
- 26:35Speaker 2: have to play the sound back for you after this.
- 26:37Speaker 2: They were talking about Lincoln Riley like he had the
- 26:40Speaker 2: plague yesterday.
- 26:42Speaker 3: When you go to NC State.
- 26:43Speaker 5: Going to Maryland. That's what it is.
- 26:45Speaker 3: You have the plague. It's a rehab tour. Rutgers.
- 26:53Speaker 5: Bc he would never he could go be an offensive
- 26:56Speaker 5: coordinator at an oregon he can't go be a head
- 26:58Speaker 5: coach at a place like that he can go be
- 26:59Speaker 5: an offensive coordinator.
- 27:01Speaker 2: Lincoln riley would never be caught dead in piscataway new
- 27:04Speaker 2: jersey but.
- 27:04Speaker 3: Maybe chapel hill i'd kill for him at chapel hill
- 27:07Speaker 3: yes you.
- 27:07Speaker 1: Would lucy he would get like a an oc job
- 27:11Speaker 1: at like one of those bigger schools though right if
- 27:13Speaker 1: he wanted yeah.
- 27:14Speaker 6: He could easily get an oc job at Texas, Bama, wherever.
- 27:19Speaker 6: But head coaching, I think he's pretty limited to low tier,
- 27:25Speaker 6: like mid at best. Like NC State, he could get
- 27:27Speaker 6: that job. But if let's say– I don't know who's
- 27:31Speaker 6: like disappointing. If let's say Texas A & M randomly
- 27:34Speaker 6: decides to fire Mike Elko, which they shouldn't, I don't
- 27:37Speaker 6: think he would get that job.
- 27:38Speaker 3: Okay, right.
- 27:38Speaker 6: They should never. I love Mike Elko.
- 27:40Speaker 3: Yeah, so do we. That's all we're saying.
- 27:42Speaker 4: Yes.
- 27:43Speaker 3: Now he's mad.
- 27:44Speaker 2: This is revisionist history. It's just what it is.
- 27:47Speaker 3: So you're representing us correctly. What about Oklahoma? Oh, wow. Well,
- 27:51Speaker 3: what about them? Answer your own question.
- 27:52Speaker 5: We actually brought that up.
- 27:53Speaker 3: What if they reverse? Yeah.
- 27:55Speaker 2: If you combine Lincoln Riley and Brent Venables, that's a
- 27:59Speaker 2: damn good football coach.
- 28:00Speaker 3: I know.
- 28:01Speaker 6: They should have a baby.
- 28:02Speaker 5: Co-head coaches.
- 28:06Speaker 3: You're an idiot.
- 28:10Speaker 1: Wait, are you saying that me and Mikey, you're representing
- 28:13Speaker 1: correctly what it is me and Mikey said, and we're
- 28:15Speaker 1: misrepresenting ourselves.
- 28:17Speaker 2: You're misrepresenting it now because Lucy is on my side,
- 28:20Speaker 2: backing my take.
- 28:22Speaker 5: First off, she's on our side agreeing with us on Maryland. Secondly,
- 28:26Speaker 5: I asked you the question, where do you think he
- 28:28Speaker 5: would go? And then all I said was, he's not
- 28:31Speaker 5: getting a high-level job as a head coach, but he
- 28:34Speaker 5: could go to one of those big programs and redo
- 28:37Speaker 5: his image as an offensive coordinator. I think I even
- 28:40Speaker 5: made the reference that it's a shame Nick Saban isn't
- 28:42Speaker 5: at Alabama because he takes those lost people and he
- 28:46Speaker 5: brings them as a coordinator and then they go back
- 28:49Speaker 5: out into the world as a revamped coach. Head coach.
- 28:52Speaker 2: I'll check the tapes.
- 28:54Speaker 3: You do that. I mean, I'm sitting here. I gave
- 28:56Speaker 3: you credit for Cam Schlittler earlier.
- 28:57Speaker 5: Subscribe, rate, and review.
- 28:59Speaker 3: I'll check the tapes. All right, let's get to Lucy
- 29:02Speaker 3: or Goosey here.
- 29:06Speaker 6: I have props.
- 29:08Speaker 3: Oh, wow. Exciting.
- 29:09Speaker 5: Props.
- 29:09Speaker 3: Which one's Lucy and which one's Goosey? All right, tell us.
- 29:12Speaker 6: Lucy is this Iowa Barbie.
- 29:14Speaker 3: Okay, wow. It's never been a better time to be Lucy.
- 29:17Speaker 6: I'm afraid to take it out of the box.
- 29:19Speaker 3: Don't, don't.
- 29:20Speaker 5: Loses its value.
- 29:21Speaker 4: Yep.
- 29:21Speaker 6: And then Goosey is an Arkansas Razorback nose.
- 29:24Speaker 3: Okay, good. I like it. All right, Mikey, you want
- 29:26Speaker 3: to kick off the proceedings here?
- 29:29Speaker 5: Sure. Lucy or Goosey? Wiping a player's blood on your face.
- 29:34Speaker 3: Okay.
- 29:38Speaker 6: I am going to say Goosey. Goosey because it's not
- 29:41Speaker 6: something I would do. But if you called me a
- 29:44Speaker 6: month ago and said, Lucy, a head coach stuck his
- 29:48Speaker 6: hand in a player's mouth and wiped his blood all
- 29:50Speaker 6: over his face, who was it? P.J. Fleck would have
- 29:53Speaker 6: been my first guess.
- 29:54Speaker 3: No doubt.
- 29:54Speaker 6: Like insane behavior for P.J.
- 29:57Speaker 4: Fleck.
- 29:58Speaker 6: Just another Saturday.
- 30:01Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 30:02Speaker 2: Lucy or Goosey, the Florida Gators are a national title contender.
- 30:07Speaker 3: Wow. Tough game this weekend.
- 30:11Speaker 6: I'm going to go Goosey because I don't think they're
- 30:13Speaker 6: national title contenders. Like, I wouldn't put them in the
- 30:17Speaker 6: group of, like, seven-ish teams that I'm looking at. But
- 30:20Speaker 6: I do think they have the potential to– obviously, they've
- 30:23Speaker 6: already pulled an upset, but, like, That Georgia game is
- 30:25Speaker 6: going to tell us a lot. Because right now I
- 30:26Speaker 6: would pick Georgia over Florida, and I'd probably still pick
- 30:29Speaker 6: Texas over Florida. But, man, they're fantastic. That is such
- 30:33Speaker 6: a fun running back duo. They're very, very good.
- 30:35Speaker 1: Lucy or Goosey, Kamario Taylor is the best player in
- 30:39Speaker 1: college football.
- 30:41Speaker 6: I'm going to go Goosey. He's the best quarterback in
- 30:44Speaker 6: college football.
- 30:45Speaker 3: I should have said quarterback. I'm sorry. Yeah.
- 30:47Speaker 4: Yes.
- 30:48Speaker 6: Quarterback, Barbie, Lucy, player, Goosey, because that's Jeremiah Smith. But quarterback, yeah,
- 30:53Speaker 6: he is awesome. And the weird, I really have hated
- 30:57Speaker 6: the conversation shifting from how awesome he is to like,
- 31:00Speaker 6: who's going to pay an insane amount to get him
- 31:02Speaker 6: to leave Starkville?
- 31:04Speaker 3: Mike Ryan.
- 31:08Speaker 6: You leave him alone.
- 31:11Speaker 3: Mike or Camario? Camario.
- 31:13Speaker 6: Everyone leaves Camario alone.
- 31:14Speaker 1: Not Mike.
- 31:15Speaker 3: You can say whatever.
- 31:19Speaker 5: Lucy or Goosey, we should be preparing ourselves and our
- 31:23Speaker 5: children for Kirk Ferentz to be in the college football playoff.
- 31:30Speaker 6: I have to think. Okay. My heart says no, but
- 31:36Speaker 6: my brain actually says Lucy.
- 31:38Speaker 4: Wow.
- 31:38Speaker 3: Because.
- 31:39Speaker 6: It's usually the other way. I know. Do I think
- 31:43Speaker 6: that I will beat Ohio State this weekend?
- 31:47Speaker 4: No.
- 31:48Speaker 3: Which I did.
- 31:49Speaker 4: No.
- 31:50Speaker 6: What happens?
- 31:50Speaker 5: The napkins aren't going to arrive in time?
- 31:52Speaker 6: Look, the napkins can only do so much. Like, Iowa
- 31:56Speaker 6: objectively did not play well against Michigan. The napkins, for
- 32:01Speaker 6: the napkins to work, Iowa needs to play better. So
- 32:03Speaker 6: they have to play better, and my napkins have to
- 32:05Speaker 6: do their job, which they will. I have no concern
- 32:06Speaker 6: about that. And I'm going to try out something new
- 32:08Speaker 6: this weekend I'm excited for, but I'll tell you guys after.
- 32:09Speaker 4: Yes.
- 32:10Speaker 6: Because no one needs to copy me.
- 32:11Speaker 3: Don't even tell me after. I don't want to know.
- 32:12Speaker 1: I don't.
- 32:14Speaker 6: You can know. It's actually something that you can.
- 32:17Speaker 3: Use in your everyday life. I'm afraid I'll tell someone,
- 32:19Speaker 3: and I don't want to ruin your secret.
- 32:20Speaker 6: Oh, yeah, don't tell anybody. But Iowa's schedule for the
- 32:23Speaker 6: rest of the year is really not tough. So the
- 32:26Speaker 6: three toughest games going into the season was Michigan, which
- 32:29Speaker 6: they won, Ohio State this weekend, and Washington, who looks terrible.
- 32:33Speaker 6: If Iowa can lose to Ohio State and not get
- 32:37Speaker 6: completely destroyed, beat Washington, and then you have, like, One
- 32:42Speaker 6: game that gives you a little slip-up, if that's Minnesota
- 32:45Speaker 6: or Northwestern or Nebraska, then Iowa finishes the year 10-2,
- 32:51Speaker 6: and I think it's hard to keep a 10-2 Big
- 32:53Speaker 6: Ten team out of the college football playoffs. So it
- 32:57Speaker 6: would just take a lot of Iowa not messing up,
- 32:59Speaker 6: which is something they do every year, but.
- 33:03Speaker 6: They still have a little mess up window. They still
- 33:05Speaker 6: have one game they can mess up with since.
- 33:07Speaker 3: They beat Michigan. New playoff. You can mess up once
- 33:09Speaker 3: in a while.
- 33:09Speaker 4: Yes.
- 33:10Speaker 6: Exactly.
- 33:11Speaker 3: Yes.
- 33:12Speaker 2: There's just something off about this Indiana Hoosiers team. Lucy
- 33:16Speaker 2: or Goosey?
- 33:16Speaker 3: I like it.
- 33:19Speaker 6: I'm Lucy on this one. I think it's just Josh Hoover.
- 33:22Speaker 6: I don't think Josh Hoover is bad, but you can't
- 33:25Speaker 6: replicate what Fernando Mendoza did. And I think that the
- 33:29Speaker 6: ability of a to have kind of a big breakaway play.
- 33:32Speaker 6: Josh Hoover sort of lacks with these Indiana receivers right now,
- 33:36Speaker 6: and Turbo Richard did get hurt in the game against Northwestern,
- 33:38Speaker 6: and you got Aiden Childs. It happens to the best
- 33:41Speaker 6: of us. It has happened to myself. Like, he is
- 33:43Speaker 6: a very sneaky, ruin-your-season type of guy, but there is
- 33:47Speaker 6: just something off, and I think it's Josh Hoover, and
- 33:50Speaker 6: so the vibes are just kind of bad.
- 33:53Speaker 1: Lucy or Goosey, Mike Norvell will be the first head
- 33:56Speaker 1: coach fired this season.
- 33:58Speaker 6: That's a good question.
- 34:00Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 34:00Speaker 6: I think I'm going to go Lucy because the only
- 34:05Speaker 6: name I would have swapped with that was like I
- 34:07Speaker 6: kind of thought they were going to fire Mike Loxley
- 34:09Speaker 6: after this weekend, and they didn't after losing to UCLA
- 34:12Speaker 6: by 50 points. And so the spot for Norvell is
- 34:17Speaker 6: post Miami ahead of Clemson. I believe they have a bye,
- 34:21Speaker 6: and I don't think they're going to wait for the
- 34:23Speaker 6: buyout to drop at the end of the year.
- 34:26Speaker 5: Lucy or Goosey? celebrations have gotten out of control.
- 34:32Speaker 6: I love a fun celebration, but I'll go, I'll go
- 34:35Speaker 6: Lucy because the, the Desmond Stevens one was like disgusting
- 34:40Speaker 6: and egregious and a completely different level than what we
- 34:42Speaker 6: saw for Texas, Texas. I was just like, okay, I
- 34:45Speaker 6: just think you're stupid. Like, I just think you're like
- 34:47Speaker 6: a little bit dumb. Um, and so I will say
- 34:49Speaker 6: they've gotten a little out of control. It was very
- 34:51Speaker 6: funny that Sark was like, yeah, it's the culture now.
- 34:54Speaker 6: And you're like, Hey, you should, like, talk to your
- 34:56Speaker 6: team because that will cost you eventually if you guys are, like,
- 34:59Speaker 6: fake pissing on the field all the time. Like, it's just,
- 35:02Speaker 6: it will come back to you. So I do think
- 35:04Speaker 6: celebrations have gotten a little out of control, but, like,
- 35:06Speaker 6: I think they're fun.
- 35:07Speaker 2: The win over USC is going to get Oregon back
- 35:12Speaker 2: on track and back into the playoffs.
- 35:14Speaker 5: Lucy or Goosey?
- 35:15Speaker 4: Hmm.
- 35:16Speaker 6: That's a really good question. I think I'm going to
- 35:20Speaker 6: go Lucy because of how good Dylan Raiola looked in
- 35:25Speaker 6: that game. I will say that they're, I don't think
- 35:28Speaker 6: they play, I don't know if they play Ohio State
- 35:30Speaker 6: this year. I know they for sure play Indiana.
- 35:32Speaker 3: They're at Ohio State.
- 35:34Speaker 6: So you can win out in that situation. It was
- 35:38Speaker 6: like very much a get right game and like with
- 35:40Speaker 6: the circumstances of it all. And now you kind of
- 35:42Speaker 6: have like, something to play for in a sense of
- 35:45Speaker 6: just the motivation of what happened in that game. I
- 35:48Speaker 6: do think it was a get-right game. Like, if Oregon
- 35:50Speaker 6: makes the playoff, it wouldn't shock me, but they don't
- 35:52Speaker 6: give me national champion vibes right now.
- 35:54Speaker 3: All right, two quick ones. We'll get you out of here.
- 35:56Speaker 3: Mississippi State will beat Alabama this weekend. Lucy, you're goosey.
- 36:01Speaker 6: I really don't know on this one. I think I'm
- 36:03Speaker 6: going to go goosey because I– I think Alabama's secondary
- 36:09Speaker 6: is too good, and I think Mississippi State's defense is fine,
- 36:13Speaker 6: but I don't think it's good enough. But this is
- 36:15Speaker 6: my favorite quarterback matchup of the week. Keelan Russell, Kamario Taylor.
- 36:18Speaker 6: It's going to be a very fun game, and the
- 36:20Speaker 6: energy in Starkville, they summon some type of spirit with
- 36:25Speaker 6: those cowbells. So if Mississippi State wins, I wouldn't be shocked.
- 36:28Speaker 2: Lucy, I have a quick one because your goosey is
- 36:30Speaker 2: that Arkansas Razorback's nose. Arkansas, can we give the new
- 36:35Speaker 2: coach some time to build a team before you guys
- 36:38Speaker 2: start revolting against the program that he's trying to build?
- 36:40Speaker 3: Lucy or Goosey?
- 36:43Speaker 6: I'm actually... So wait, so Lucy would be pro-Arkansas fans
- 36:46Speaker 6: or anti-Arkansas fans?
- 36:47Speaker 2: Pro-Arkansas fans.
- 36:48Speaker 3: Give him time, I think.
- 36:50Speaker 6: I'm Lucy. I don't care if you give him time
- 36:53Speaker 6: or not. So here's the thing, is that... I do
- 36:57Speaker 6: feel bad for Ryan Silverfield. I very much feel bad.
- 37:00Speaker 6: But this is an athletic director, an athletic department that
- 37:02Speaker 6: just keeps spitting in the face of Arkansas fans. And
- 37:05Speaker 6: they do it over and over and over again. And
- 37:07Speaker 6: Arkansas was one of the first teams to fire their
- 37:09Speaker 6: head coach last year. And Ryan Silverfield was like not
- 37:11Speaker 6: well liked at Memphis. People were like, hey, Memphis has
- 37:15Speaker 6: FedEx money, which puts them top of the American for
- 37:17Speaker 6: NIL or at least in that range. Couldn't win at
- 37:20Speaker 6: Memphis playing, you know, teams in the American. What makes
- 37:23Speaker 6: you think you're going to compete at Arkansas with bottom
- 37:25Speaker 6: of the SEC NIL money when you're playing Texas and
- 37:29Speaker 6: Georgia every weekend? Like, I just don't. It was a
- 37:32Speaker 6: hire that just didn't like wasn't well thought out. Well done. And, yeah,
- 37:38Speaker 6: I don't blame Arkansas fans for just having enough with
- 37:41Speaker 6: Hunter Urechek. I do feel bad for Ryan Silverfield. But, like,
- 37:45Speaker 6: I just didn't think that was a good hire from
- 37:47Speaker 6: the jump. So if it were me, like, hell, yeah,
- 37:49Speaker 6: I love a protest. And good for Arkansas. Power of
- 37:51Speaker 6: the people.
- 37:52Speaker 3: One more college football happy hour with Lucy and Jess.
- 37:55Speaker 3: Check it out.
- 37:56Speaker 1: Arch Manning is not worth the overall number one pick
- 37:59Speaker 1: in the NFL draft.
- 38:00Speaker 3: Lucy or Goosey?
- 38:02Speaker 6: Yeah, Goosey. He just doesn't look that great.
- 38:04Speaker 3: He doesn't, right.
- 38:04Speaker 4: I know.
- 38:05Speaker 6: There's this stat that's floating around, and it's all circumstantial,
- 38:09Speaker 6: but like Arkansas, Arch Manning and John Mateer have basically
- 38:14Speaker 6: like the same stat line right now, minus interceptions. Texas
- 38:18Speaker 6: has looked good for like two quarters, and Arch Manning
- 38:20Speaker 6: has just been like kind of mid. I don't think
- 38:23Speaker 6: the investment in the offensive line is paying off enough.
- 38:26Speaker 6: Like he was sacked a lot against Tennessee, so I
- 38:28Speaker 6: want to give him like a little bit of credit,
- 38:30Speaker 6: but I think he's more of If his last name
- 38:33Speaker 6: was not Manning, I don't think we would even be
- 38:35Speaker 6: having this conversation. We would just be like, he's fine.
- 38:37Speaker 3: He's good.
- 38:38Speaker 1: All right.
- 38:39Speaker 3: College football happy hour. Lucy and Jess, check it out.
- 38:42Speaker 3: We love you. You're the best. Thank you for doing this.
- 38:44Speaker 3: We appreciate it. Go Hawks. It's never been a better
- 38:48Speaker 3: time to be Lucy.
